**COMMENTS ON LATEST BUFFY EPISODE**
I wanted to bring this up yesterday but wasn't able to get to my computer (my brother was using it most of the day).
I don't usually watch Buffy. I used to, but somewhere along the line I just stopped watching for no good reason. But when I heard that the delayed Season Finale was going to be on, I sat down to see what exactly all the fuss was about.
And after watching it, while it was a good episode, I'm still wondering, is that it? I mean, the events in the episode were interesting but THAT was why it was held up for a month? Because a graduating class started fighting a giant man eating snake and some vampires with flame throwers, knives, swords, maces, and stakes?
My opinion of network executives has dropped down to below zero. They must be brainless. They can compare something like that to two dumbasses going on a shooting spree in a high school in Colorado? I understand that they don't have a high opinion of people's intelligence but do they think that people are completely retarded to not be able to tell the difference between the fight on Buffy with a giant snake and real life?
(Sorry about the rant, but I just had to get that out of my system.)
I do have a question though - In the episode when Xander and Willow went to gather help from the student body, Xander pulled aside a blonde lady. Later at the actual battle, she got bitten by one of the Vampires. I haven't seen Buffy in a long time so I'm wondering, has she shown up before? I'm curious because I got the impression she had, and I was curious if she was killed by the vampire or turned into a vampire or not. It's just one of those things that was churning in my brain, along with finally seeing that Principal getting eaten. (I did see the episode where he was introduced and I'm shocked that he managed to survive THIS long. That guy had - I'm going to die horribly - written on his forehead from the second he stepped on screen.)
Also loved the promo for the new ANGEL series.
**END OF COMMENTS ON LATEST BUFFY EPISODE**
And since this is a Gargoyles comment room, let me throw something Gargoyles related into my post.
QUESTION TO TGS STAFF - This week is supposed to be the Main TGS Season Finale right? So I was wondering:
1. When is it going to be returning?
2. When is TIMEDANCER going to start up again?
3. Will PENDRAGON be a seperate series next season or will it still be amalgamated with TGS:GARGOYLES?
4. When is DARK AGES going to start up again?
5. Can you give us any clues as to Asrial's future? (As much as I'm against something like moving her to the future, I have to admit that she is an original TGS character who has really grown on me. I would just hate to see a character with some much potential die in the 994 massacure, if she even lived that long, which is something I'm not too sure of. We know she lived as far as 977 but I think that she was either dead or gone long before 994.)

Replying to posts first...
Forrest <<I was wondering where you went, after this wait I was sure that you had fallen off the face of the earth. I will get back to you once I have time to finish the story.>> Three words for ya: The Gargoyles Saga. That, and an in progress Buffy fanfic that I've actually gotten a lot of good feedback for. But take your time; I posted that fic mainly because of WCC - if I do finish the rewrite, I may twist around the scenes a bit, but the characters are essentially the same.
Paul> **covers her ears** Ow! Warn me next time, will ya? I was standing right next to you! As for everyone in on the villains debate, why don't we just stick to the more general term of antagonist? There's just been too much confusion over the definition of villain. Frankly, I think that certain antagonists who are manipulated/forced into unpleasant actions can be just as intriguing as those who are villains in the truest sense of the word.
Spike> Aww! That's really cute! :)
**OFF-TOPIC BUT THOUGHTFUL TIDBIT**
With all the talk about the loss of loved ones, I read something today that made me think. It seems that Valerie Vernon, the actress who's currently playing the Pink Power Ranger collapsed on the set last month - and was diagnosed with ALS-leukemia.
That got me thinking. To a lot of little kids - well, my younger cousins, anyway - any actor or actress who's been on that show is sort of an icon, and to find out about something like this... well, it's sort of scary. Wonder if any kids might find out about this, and how it might affect them. Whatever, I'm rambling now.

Oh, and OZ is back. Season three started last night. But it looks like Bill Fagerbaake isn't gonna be on anymore.

First of all, someone made an inaccurate generalization. While I don't think anyone should leave this room, I did not like the cussing that took place. Please do not place me in any generalizations.
Demona again-Look, I think we're forgetting the thousand years of being alone part. She is a coward who won't accept her actions, but she didn't have anything out of life in those 1,000 years save the need for revenge, so it became her sole focus to keep her from going insane. In a way, she could be considered as insane, but I mean really insane, as in, not aware of what you're doing, not able to think straight, et cetera. If she didn't see the best in humans and she was alone and had nothing else, well, it seems obvious to me what she did. She was already unstable and in denial because of the loss of one Clan, then caused the loss of another, and denied that. She's fragile emotionally. She needed some focus or something, or she plain had no focus. She also was concerned with survival... Remember her lines to Coldstone in REAWAKENING?
All she thought there was in life was vengeance and survival. No, I'm not trying to explain the actions of other people who I don't know, but Demona is someone I can defend, and will continue to do so.
Sephiroth-(Switches on loudspeakers)-SEPHIROTH IS NOT A VILLIAN!! HE WAS/IS A PUPPET!! (Switches off loudspeakers). How anyone could consider Sephiroth a villian I don't know. He's a puppet, pure, and simple. That's why he did what he did, if he had control of his mind, he would not, most likely, have done what he did.
If you want to blame someone, here's a Jenova dummy to beat up on. You're more than welcome to do so.
<Gestures>
<Tentacles slither around throat as Paul realizes he accidentally summoned a real Jenova.>
Oops.
<The Jenova snaps Paul's throat and rushes off to start sending Ultimas around the Comment Room.>
<Luckily, Paul had a Final Attack-Phoenix Combination Materia which activates, restoring him to life, while Jenova is too far away from the Phoenix to be nailed>.
Uh-oh.
Err, anyway, before the entire room comes down, I'll make a few more points.
Heroism-Yes, the medals, and all that. What I mean is that its impossible to classify the way you were doing in relation to the whole debate. The way you gave the definitions of heroes was classifying, the award part wasn't. There was a difference.
I agree with the award part.
<Paul now turns to face the Jenova he has mistakenly summoned into the room. He sends the reddish projectile of Guided Shot out of his hands at the Jenova's back. She hisses and spins around upon being struck, having unfortunately swiveled her back, and neck to cast Ultima upon another section of the Comment Room, thus not being struck in the neck. She brings her head and back back around and glares at the insignificant mortal.
"You have summoned me... You dare to summon a Goddess!!"
She shrieks and sends out a flurry of Flare Stars and Shadow Flares that rip into action and detonate. Paul's grand shield absorbs them and he activates Ultimate End, only for Jenova to phase shift and tear the Knights of the Round apart. He casts Radiance, and a starry burst detonates in her face. She absorbs it into her skin.
Then she phase shifts into the Grand Shield and disperses her atoms, reforming them on another plane, and shattering the Grand Shield, doing the same to the second layer before he can even move. She picks him up with her tentacle to engulf him whole, binding him in wards that prevent him from using any Magic, Ether, or the like.
"Ascension!"
Paul transforms into a Kaiser only to have the tentacles plunge into his chest and abdomen, causing him to Revert to an unharmed human. Another tentacle coils around his chest, as this time the wards seal off Brood Powers.
He is brought towards the gaping maw...
But shakes free, as the tentacles were made slippery by a hidden element in the Ascension.
Quoting Harthoth:
"Never activate a spell you can't undo."
Free of the wards, Paul waves his hands, and the Jenova disappears.>
HeHe.
I couldn't resist that.
Kitainia-Thank you for the compliment on the points I made. Please read the one about Demona above, assuming you haven't already done so.
Names-Uh, the Wednesday post did not ignore the person who you're referring to, Theresa. To said person, please give me a name I may use that doesn't involve a suspected cuss word.
Doug, Kitainia-Have you gotten LUNAR II: ETERNAL BLUE, yet? Its well worth the money.

Forrest> Two things:
1: My mutant friend: Well, the mutation is for real, and it gives him a strength boost of about 200% compared to the common humans when he really tries to lift/push/pull or whatever. However, the drawback is immense; ever suffered from cramps? With him, it goes double, so when he has muscle cramps, they count twice.
Oh, and I haven't seen any "real" Bruce Lee films, only a cavalcade that very friend of mine assembled on video, God knows where he got all those scenes. But he does collect action films, anyway.
Oh, and I disagree that Seagal is the most realistic combat actor nowadays... I find Jackie Chan just as realistic, and more. (When not counting some of the strange situations he constantly winds up in; remember the fan scene from Armour of God II?)
As for the particular style I'd be most interested in studying; well, I have only the barest of actual *training*, but I have quite a deal of the theoretical stuff, sufficient to know whether a guy knows what he's doing or not, but if I was to study one single style, it would have to be Shaolin (know about the adress to a bona fide Shaolin Temple, anyone?) or maybe the ancient Egyptian art Sebat Kha, which unfortunately has been extinct for millennia.
Oh, and the Gargoyles Martial Arts question: How 'bout the difference between the normal gargs and the web-winged ones? There's a thought pattern worth pursuing.
Well, gotta go, some of those disgusting humans just arrived.

Pistoff> Ehh... Humans are animals by definition. I wouldn't think that an atheist would find that offensive. Various religious fanatics try to separate us from the animal kingdom (it's clear for example that hardly anyone opposes the idea of evolution where animals and plants are concerned, but many absolutely hate it where humans are concerned). In what way would you think humans are different to animals other than their intelligence?
(I'm not atheist btw, except towards specific personified deities like the JudeoChristianic or Muslim god. But I'd be interested in your opinion.)
And I think this time you were too quick to find offense. I hardly saw Kaioto's last post as offensive.

Starsinger comes in and sets up a lovely delicate lace asbestos tablecloth on the Tea Table of Peace. She then procedes to set out a big box of candles. Everyone light one for Deuce. We have another vigil. She then proceeds to light her candle with the convenient flametrower that just happens to be near by.
Reminder, Christine has a housewarming this saturday.
My mom's home from the hospital and on oxygen. They know she has something in her lungs and eliminated most of the causes (cancer, tb, and a few others), but without a biopsy which she's against, they're on a wait and see right now. Thanks for all the good vibrations people.

Kaioto: Okay, so now I'm an "intelligent animal"?!?! **sigh** Whatever. And no, I have not "found a part of Him within." I am most definitely an athiest, and if you think that's "extreme" or "dangerous," that's your problem, not mine. Religion and belief in God or gods obviously works for a lot of people, but it doesn't work for me. If anything, I lean more toward Existentialism than anything else--the belief that there is no reason for anything, it's all random chance. You roll the dice and see what happens. Maybe you win the lottery, or maybe you get hit by a bus. Either way, there's no Master Plan, no entity that decides that "it's your time." That seems to scare a lot of people for some reason, but to me it offers a lot of comfort. The idea that there's some entity controlling everything, who might decide to make a tree fall on me or something (one thing I've heard a lot when somebody dies is, "It's God's will." ... which I find EXTREMELY offensive, btw), would make me nervous as hell. Thanks anyway, but just speaking for myself, I'm better off as an "intelligent animal."
If I once again "misinterpereted" what you were saying, I apologize. It's midnight and I'm tired after a day of dealing with stupid, annoying customers.... (Heh, I may not judge people on their race or religion or any of the "normal" things people pass judgement on ... but stupidity and meanness is where I draw the line and start judging. :) Oh well, either way, I'm through with this topic. I'd like to move on....

Coyote, Kitainia > You're welcome.
Aaron > Hard Boiled was without a doubt one of my absolute favorite super-action movies, and perhaps the greatest collaboration of John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat. If it weren't for those out-of-place "plot elements" between the action scenes it'd be perfect. :) You ever notice, while watching the end scenes with Tequila and Alan taking down the bad guys in the hospital hallways, the extreme similarity to the Lethal Enforcers video game? It's uncanny how the gang members just jump out and get shot, from all different positions. :)
SJ > Is it me, or is it impossible to find a good martial-artist who's also a good actor, and maybe, just maybe, give him a good *script?* I was watching On Deadly Ground with a friend of mine, and we were laughing so hard it hurt. The term "radioactive cyanide" became an inside joke from that point onward. *sigh* I lost all respectfor Kris Kristofferson during that movie... until I saw Blade however.

Steve: Thank you very much, I couldn't remember. Thanks again.
BTW, thinking about what she played in Gargs, it makes her two tracks on the Weird Al that much funnier. (FYI, her two bits: the stereotypical Brooklyn Jewish women going "How ya doin', Bernie?" in "Pretty Fly (for a Rabbi)" and the trailer-trash girlfriend arguing with her boyfriend in "Jerry Springer.")

NO RP Tonight. There's a lot of crap going on tonight, and I'll get to the RP stuff later.
DEUCE: Well, I got your email, as I'm sure many of the others did. All I can say is....well, I can't really say anything now. I'm at a loss. Personally, I think now, with all of this stuff going on, now more than ever is the time to stay with us. We're clan, my friend. You don't have to worry about how we'd handle you. I, for one, would gladly take any crap you could throw at me, cause you're a friend and I stick by my friends, no matter what.
However, if this is your decision...I have to honor that as a friend also. I don't like it--but I'll honor it. I can only pray that you don't banish yourself from here forever, and that whatever you're going through, you'll let us go through it with you. I for one am not going to give up on you like you seem to think we might do. I'm going to keep in contact with you, regardless--and I will NOT forget you, bro. I just wish you the best. Remember that we're here for you, all of us.
God, this is depressing.
Kitiana: I'm take a shot at writing the RP. But, if you will, could you and Doug maybe send me an email giving a sort of synopsis of the villains I'm supposed to be fighting? It's true that I don't watch much Rugrats, and I've never really seen "Home Movies". Also, if you and Doug want to drag things out, or finish them in just a few days. I'd really appreciate it. :)
Entertainment News:
1. For you Dr. WHO fans, it looks as if another Dr. Who film is in the works....hopefully it'll be better than that weak made-for-tv Who film starring Eric Roberts they did a few years ago.
2. X-MEN casting: Rumor has it that Maria Bello, who's most famous for her roles in "Payback" and as Noah Wylie's doctor girlfriend on "ER", may get the part of Jean Grey. Um....I'm not too sure about this. I can't really picture her as Jeanie....I don't know, Bryan Singer may be screwin' the pooch here, as they old expression goes.
3. Lord Of The Rings Casting: Well, rumor has it that Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman may be cast as Faramir and Galadriel (I don't know....I'm a fan of neither). And, what could be some of the most awesome casting for the film, rumor *had* it that Jeffrey Combs ("Reanimator", "Bride of Reanimator", and Weyoun from DS9!!!) was cast as Wormtongue! Unfortunately, they're denying that now....but this comes after New Line had stated publicly they want to keep the cast underwraps, so perhaps the bit is true after all....I'm hoping, anyway!
Aaron: Hard Boiled, eh? That's one of my favorite Chow-Yun Fat films. It's also one of my favorite John Woo films. Hell, it's one of my favorite films--period! For anyone who hasn't seen this film, it's one of the best action flicks ever made. It may have the highest body count total of any film I've ever seen; I'd say a good 2-300 hundred people die. And when I say that, I mean you get to see *each and every* individual death. It's an orgy of violence, you hear me? An Orgy of Violence!!!
Kaioto: Glad I didn't muck things up with my earlier post. And yes, I was trying to bring things down a bit. Hopefully though, we can all safely put this little debate to bed before someone gets really hurt or insulted.
Steven Segal: This is my mom's favorite martial artist. Personally....well, a couple of his films were okay. My problem with the guy? Well, this may sound odd, but--in his movies, he's too damn good. Ever see, say, "On Deadly Ground"? There's maybe a few dozen bad-guys. Steven takes most of them down with ONE punch (or kick, or headbutt, or whatever he does). Of all those bad guys, how many of them land punches on Steven? Maybe 2 guys, total. This sounds sort of sadistic, but I like movies were the hero gets his ass kicked a little. It's not believable to have a fight between the hero and the villain, and the hero totally trashes the villain without hardly any damage to himself. From what I've seen of Segal movies, all he does is waltz in in that Neyru jacket, and clean house without a strand of his oily hair coming out of that ponytail. It annoys me.

°°°°°RANT About the useless police and other stuff°°°
Would you believe I almost got locked up again today?!? God, I hate the law... The law's alwayz harassin me and my family, so 2morrow my sister and I are goin to the judge and we're slingin warrants right and left. (So the law can harass someone else). People are alwayz havin us locked up and crap like that, it's time the law works for us! There's these two people that alwayz bother me and my sister and they have had my sister locked up before for...., guess what....., Obscene language. Well if you're gonna scratch up someone's car, you're gonna get cussed out. F*** the Law!! 2morrow it will work for us, or I'm goin to jail for a reason, because I WILL show my little ass in front of the judge if he/she doesn't grant these warrants. All together the charges on two people are, 3 felonies and 6 misdemeanors. Them bitches are gonna have a hell of a time gettin outta jail! I know..., but then *I* have the money! *They* don't! (Don't f*** with spoiled rich muthaf***as! Especially ones like me). We don't plan on taking the people to court, just to get them locked up. I KNOW the hell of awaiting court and wouldn't wish that on anyone! Plan here is to show the bitches we ain't playin no more games, have them locked up, on top of that getting restraining orders. (That represents- I got the last say, now there's nothing you can do about it, or you'll get locked up again). We're evil..., but only because people wanted to fuck with us. "Violent use brings violent plans".
°°°°°End Rant°°°
OK now... Why is Deuce leavin, huh?!? One of you "higher ups" makin him leave?! If that's the case, yall ain't seen "language" until you've upset me. Makin Deuce leave will highly upset me! And I will post in big, huge captial letters, EXACTLY how I feel about it. After I do so, ban me, I dare you!
If Deuce is leavin cause he wants to, I guess that's cool, I understand, I was going to do the same thing..., on the other hand Deuce, you didn't cause as near as amount of trouble I have. Come back, we'll work this out..
But I swear to the holy God if you "higher up" people are making him leave...., the only way you won't hear from me is to ban me right now! I ain't playin..., I'm tried of RL crap and Cyber crap, play with me, I dare ya!

**enters the room, switching out the candles. Spots Deuce's post.**
Man, don't do this to me, my week's been crappy enough as it is!! Come on, buddy, come back. As we're fond of saying ... **clears throat** ... we are Clan here. Come on back, man.
Status: Grandma's better today, at least a little. They're now hoping to discharge her on Friday, though we still need to find out exactly what she *can* and *cannot* do, among other things (we're looking into a full-time home nurse for her, since both me and my mother work.).
Keep the good vibes comin' folks, it's working! **pauses to silently pray, then resumes**
Crzy's criteria: **voice becomes small and weak** Uhmm ... err ... does bringing together 73 writers and roleplayers for one megafic count as "bringing the fandom together?" Y'all don't have to answer that.
Oh, and speaking of megafics ... thanks for the feedback on "Team Alpha." The fics are now currently being made available at the GFW (thanks to Skydancer). And just so ya know, in my posting announcement I said I would have "Team Bravo" posted in 20 ... well, 19 now ... days. That would be ... **counts on fingers** ... August 11th.
Oh, and "Team Charlie" I am going to *try* to have posted by August 26th, to commemorate a major event in my universe ... 8/26/99 is Rosanna's date of birth.
Dagastino: My condolences, friend.
Pistoff, re: "Cat Scan": That ... was ... so twisted ... I couldn't help but laugh. Thanks, dude!
Christine: **applause** Brilliantly put.
Wilek: You felt "honored" to read "Team Alpha?" Whoa ... **reels under the weight of such a tremendous complement** ... I feel honored just to have someone *say* that about something I've written. :)
Doug: Not to nitpick, but CBS is the network that shows "Martial Law" and the star's name is Sammo *Hung.* Please forgive my pickiness, but that show happens to be one of my favorites. :)
Kitainia: Glad you liked how I wrote you in "Team Alpha." And see, I *did* manage to work the Steamer in! :)
Arianna, re: braces: Ain't freedom *great?!* ;) Then again, you're gonna wind up wearing retainers for the next six some-odd years now, so ... just think of it as dental probation. :)
Uhmm ... question to the assembly: Does anyone recall if Tress MacNeille was a Garg voice actress? Because she's credited for backup vocals on two of the tracks on "Running with Scissors" and I *swear* I've heard that name before! It's driving me crazy, anyone know for sure??

Kitainia > According to IMDb, Sheena Easton did the voices of Finella, Molly/Banshee, and Robyn Canmore.
Dagostino > I don't know what script you *think* you have, but I can pretty surely bet you anything that it's NOT the Star Wars Episode Three script by George Lucas. He's not even done with the script for Ep Two yet, and anything that exists for the third installment is pure speculative material on the part of the fans.

**RP HERE**
The battle outside the Devastator is still going on, with Napoleon's legions, the remaining Huns and Histeria historical caricartures being joined by a large group of corrupt lawyers from the ACLU. "This will not be like Waterloo, men!" Napoleon shouts. "Continue the fight!" "Remind me again why we're doing this?" one of his soldiers asks another. "We joined up to stop being bored and get away from our wives. Then we got assimilated." "Oui," the first soldier agrees and they ride on to assault the arriving Schoolgirl Scouts. In another part of the field, Shogun and his team face off against Saban's Annoy-U squad just as it is joined by three new members. "Tori!!" "Joey!!" "Felicity!" "Great," Shogun mumbles. "More stupid ditzy girls."
The display changes to inside the Devastator, where the Ravens are splitting off from SJ and Wilek's groups. "We'll stop the engines!" SJ assures Doug. "You handle Guod." "Will do," Doug agrees. (Note to SJ- do you need us to write your battle for the engines or can you do it? Just wondering. We'll take over if you're not familiar with the foes you'll be facing, let us know if you need help.) The Ravens then tread on, ready for anything. Halfway down the first passage, they encounter Carol Borgy, last of the Borgy Bunch. "I will avenge my family!" she screams, lunging at the Ravens with a dozen implants whirring. Tom shoots her with a grenade and blows her to bits. "Good job," Kitainia says. "Come on, there have to be more of these guys down here." The others nod and they walk on into the Devastator's depths.
**END RP 1ST HALF**
Hi. Hope everyone had a pretty good day today. The movie "Muppets in Space" opened, wonder if anyone's gonna see it. Fox is also showing Dragonheart tonight, Doug and I are watching it. It's a very good movie. :) (Favorite line- "This time I'll collect the money and you can die.")
Paul, David G: Good points in the villains and good-evil debates. Glad they're over now.
Best Bond Girls: I agree, Sheena Easton definitely falls into the ranks. What Gargs character was she again? Thanks in advance to whoever can tell me.
Martial Arts: I agree that having ability in them can be very cool. I know a few myself and have appreciated their value many times. Bruce Lee was my favorite of the great martial arts stars (I like Warpmind's story about him too). Of the living ones I like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Sammo Hwang. Never liked Van Damme much, though some of his movies are good. I find the fast pace of martial arts amazing, and how they can overcome the user's physical handicaps in a fight.
Nonhuman Martial Arts: I agree that there must be some gargoyle clans out there with their own fighting styles. The Japanese clan is a good candidate, wonder if they have any gargs among them with ninja skills (that would be neat). As for other races having martial arts, I know the dragons do in Doug's fanfics. Some of the TGS dragons probably do as well.
**SPOILERS FOR WCC**
Coyote: Thanks for posting Team Alpha. I thought it was a very good story. Nice action, dialogue, and plot. The deaths of Nokkar and Captain Walker were done well, I liked the emotion thrust onto the reader through them. The scenes with my character were very entertaining, I think you got my attitude down perfectly. :) Nice development on Rose and Demona, too. I can hardly wait to see the next team story, keep up the good work!
**WCC SPOILERS END**
Coyote again: Sorry to hear your grandmother's sick once more. She'll be in my prayers, hope she soon gets better. Same goes to any other people with sick family members in this CR.
Arianna: Congrats on losing your braces. Bet you'll soon be rejoicing to be rid of them. I know I was when mine came off. :)
Kyryn: I agree with you, Iron Giant looks like a cool movie. Hope the animation's quality doesn't surpass the plot's.
Demona Debate: I agree with Todd and Kyryn about her character. Despite the terrible things that happened in her life, Demona is still a bad guy and made the choice to be so. I do not think she is a victim because no one made her do the things she did. (Yeah, humans really pissed her off and tried to destroy her kind, but revenge is not a valid excuse for attempted genocide.)
New York Weirdness: I agree that Manhattan has much more than its share of strange stuff, in the comic world and real life. Must be an interesting place to live. :)
Railway Killer: Glad he's been caught. Now if he can just get a lawyer who's a real dumbass...
Kaioto: Nice statement on good and evil. I liked your response to Pistoff, too, and think it applies to just about all good people in the world, regardless of their religion.
Dagostino: You have the script to Star Wars Episode 3? What do I have to do to get to see it? Hopefully it's in pure form and as yet uncorrupted by the links of Jarjar and merchandising. :)
Jaden: Good luck with your classes. See you when you get back.
Stephen: Nice responses to Crzy's questions. Personally, I think you deserve to be the G2000 guest of honor if we must have one. Hope you get the award, and good luck.
Christine: Good statements about the guest of honor contest. I agree with them. Hope I am among the many honored guests for next year's Gathering. :)
Deuce: I agree with David G and everyone else here, you have no reason to be leaving. If you want to go, I understand, but I don't the reasons you stated for your departure are good ones. Like most people, I applauded your rant last week. I seriously hope you will reconsider your actions and realize that what you did last week was okay. May you soon be able to return to us.
Argent: Sounds like you have a cool parrot. I liked that line in Re-Emergence too.
That's all for now. Later!
**RP SECOND HALF**
The Ravens walk on, to suddenly be challenged by another Borg running towards them. "It's you!" Histeria's Pepper Mills screams in delight when she sees Kitania. "Can I please have your autograph? Please, oh please, oh..." "Okay," Kitainia says, raising her rocket launcher and aiming it at the annoying girl's head. "How 'bout I write it across your face?" "Wait a second," Pepper complains. "You're not..." She is cut off as Kitainia blows her away. "Who do you suppose she mistook you for?" Doug asks. "I don't know," Kit shrugs. "Nor do I care. Let's keep going." "Hold it," a voice says suddenly from up ahead. Then Histeria's Toast steps out, with the rest of that awful show's main characters behind him. "You people aren't going anywhere!" Miss Information shouts. "That's right," agrees Father Time. "Hi yo!" Lucky Bob grins stupidly, hefting an implanted bazooka. "Great," Doug sighs as the Ravens are forced to charge into battle once again. "Now these guys will have to go down."
Outside, the fighting is also continuing. Napoleon rides at the head of his troops, destroying Avatar Borg left and right with his implanted gunk-cannon. The most fearsome of the ACLU drones runs up beside his horse. "I am Alan Dershowitz!" it shouts. "I'm taking charge of this force!" "Mon legions are commanded by moi and only moi!" Napoleon shouts back, nearly trampling Dershowitz as he rides away. The ACLU chief grimaces, then sighs and walks on into the nearest conflict, wondering if his old nemesis Reverend Atilla is lurking anywhere nearby. (hint hint) As his expression tightens, the screen fades out.

SJ: Hmmm ... perhaps. I read Kaioto's post several times before typing my response, and I read it a couple of times afterward. And I still feel insulted. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but it was insulting nonetheless. I admit that the bit about the "invisible man in the sky" was unfair, and I apologize for it. When I'm angry, I tend to lash out, using any ammo available. It was a cheap shot, and I retract the statement. As for the rest of it, however, I stand by my words.
Ed: Very well written, very good points there. But to keep from turning this into a flame war, I will concede that religion itself isn't the problem; it's the way certain people use religion--as a weapon, as you said. While religion doesn't mean a whole lot to me personally, it means a great deal to other people, and to some it means everything. I do try to respect that, even though I get frustrated about certain details, but I try to keep myself under control. Sometimes I'm not quite successful, heh.... :P Anyway, I have no intention of turning this into a flame war. I said what I needed to say, and I'm willing to move on.
Christine: Also very well-said, I agree completely. Each of us contributes a part of ourselves when we write or draw. By doing so, each of us is keeping the show from fading away into distant memory and finally vanishing into the vast, dark beyond.
Arianna: Congrats on the removal of your braces! :)
Deuce: My god, man! WHAT damage?!?! You haven't done anything that's worse than what I've done! Hell, you should've seen the beating I gave Roy in the other CR after his April Fools joke. People there still talk to me. Things like this happen--members of any big family argue a lot, and that's what we are, a family--and they blow over. Life goes on. Hm … I see I hit the hornet’s nest with a rock this time.
First of all, let me apologize to anyone who’s feelings I hurt. I was trying to express a perspective without making people feel judged, and I seem to have failed miserably.
Now, let me put forth that at the first point that I did not mean to offend anyone. My main offering in my statement about godlessness is that it is very rare to find a pure atheist.
First of all, as I’ve understood it, Atheism does is not a lack of belief in the Christian God, but a disregard for all Divinity, internal, external, personal, or otherwise, no matter how vague. Out with God, Allah, and Yahweh go Kharma, Dharma, and even Do. Even if there is nothing Out there, I would think, there is still something inside. I’ve seldom encountered an individual that didn’t believe in Something, greater than their own animal existence. Atheism, by definitions as I have learned it, is not a “lack of belief” but an active disbelief. Hand in hand, belief is supposed to go with action. To believe in Nothing Spiritual requires to live for the same, as an intelligent animal. Pity, love, compassion, the faintest glimmer of selflessness in action indicates a belief in at least the possibility of something better than animalism. Even the Golden Rule as a principle of personal virtue, rather than pragmatism, is a belief.
I think that pure Atheism requires that we are unable to even find God in ourselves and each other, and I don’t think I’ve ever encountered someone that empty and cold. If you have a heart, in my view of Atheism, you have a God. That is what I’m trying to say.
Ed: You make a point I’d like to address. Spirituality isn’t about punishment, it is about right and wrong from an objective sense. The idea that right and wrong action are not subject merely to the point of view of each person. It is about the idea that Adolf Hitler wasn’t justified in creating the Holocaust no matter how many people believed he was right. Objective right and wrong. How you define it as an entity, or a pattern, or whatever is a messy matter of dogma. What matters is that it is there.
I’m sorry if my words hurt people’s feelings. The spirit and meaning behind them was not offered to harm.
DarkAngel hits a nail on the head and I wish I had him as an editor.
Thanks, I was just thinking the same thing. It is probably because I have such a broad definition of God that I do not limit solely to my religious dogma that I find “pure” Atheism and Nihilism going hand-in-hand in my mind. The only people I’ve ever found to fall into the Atheist category have been characters in books like “The Stranger.” Even he was a stretch. Since I find God encompassing a spiritual dimension of all things, I find the idea of invalidating the existence of “God” in that sense to simply be denying the entire spirituality of the universe. I find people who disbelieve the Supreme Entity but still believe in something other than pragmatism to be Agnostic, rather than Atheistic. I might also add that I’ve found Agnosticism is also closely linked in philosophy with not caring whether or not there “is” something else, or what it is either. Generally, people who are uncertain and would wish to find out more fall out of the pure Agnostic mold. The problem stems from defining people as merely one of three catagories: “Spiritual, Agnostic, Atheistic.” The normal state for most people ranges between Seeking Truth and Agnosticism, IMO. That pendulum generally swings based on how much of a damn you give at any given moment.
I find that to be convicted and living in a static state such as total conviction in a God-belief, or in a God-disbelief, to be fanaticism. It is dangerous in either way, because it basically says, “I’m right, and there is not enough possibility for me to be wrong for me to reconsider.” Thusly, people believing they will be eternally rewarded can sacrifice their lives and the lives of countless others in the act they fanatically believe will earn them that reward. On the opposite hand, people fanatically believing there is no reason not to do something that benefits them can do anything they wish for gain at the expense of anyone else. Both models are extremely dangerous, but since human beings are dynamic creatures, it is very infrequent to find someone stuck in such a static belief state.
*irreverent joking comment* Since Dynamism is what keeps us alive in general, is it any wonder that people in such a static state tend to wind up heading full steam into getting themselves or others killed?
Entity: No, I wouldn’t, because I still have Do and myself to believe in.
Pistoff: Whoever said anything about a Supreme Entity? That’s a Judeo-Christian concept. I find Buddhism and Do very much non-Atheistic, even though they have no such God-head. No, quite to the contrary. The fact that you can not bring yourself to perform such a heinous act, given the opportunity, is what excludes you from my definition of Atheism. And I’m not superior to you, or anyone, Pistoff. I’m not judging you in that way, and I would be loathe to see you as a bad person. I think, much to the contrary, that you are a good person, despite having no fear of retribution, and I find that very admirable. Too many people turn to find God without, but you’ve found part of Him within. I such, I would not deem you an Atheist if I was forced to classify you, much as I would hardly deem Jerry Falwell a Christian if I had to make such a broad choice.
I don’t mean to offer a narrow view of Atheists, rather that I define Atheism in a narrow scope, apparently much narrower than 99.9% of the English speaking free world. This view excludes many that I guess a more common view would include. Much in the same respect, I have a view of Christianity that includes many of the unbaptized while excluding many of the “faithful.” I find, in my definition of Atheism, that it lies on an extreme. I’m not big on lumping people into one of three big bins, judging them, and then forgetting about them. I generally hate lumping people at all, but when necessary, I narrow out the theoretical extremes so not to associate people directly to them, but that’s just my psychology.
SJ: Thank you most kindly, my friend. I’m glad you found the sentiments I was hoping to offer in my words, and I appreciate you trying to preserve them, as well as trying to sooth hurt feelings.
Ironwolf: Excellent commentary on the Behavioral Studies thing. Very vivid and to the point.
Deuce: Please, please don’t go! Man, I know we have to set examples and standards, but I know my mother would kill someone with her bare hands to protect her family. You were protecting your family, brother, and what you did was more noble than defense of the self, but the defense of others. If everyone in the world cared so much about others as you did, the world would be a much brighter place.
Again, I’m sorry, everyone I hurt.

Argent >> I have belts in Tea Kwon Do and Tong Soo Do, (both Korean forms) Kempo Karate of the Tetsu Shin Ryu, Okinawan or American Karate, Jui Jitsu and Brazilian Jui Jitsu (The first is the Japanese type, focusing mainly on stand up and take down techniques, the second is ground fighting or submission wrestling.) I took so many because I moved alot, and would start over with a new style or school each time. Of all of them, my favorites are Kempo and Brazilian Jui Jitsu. The first because it is a very functional street fighting style, focusing more on understanding tactical theory of fighting than on forms and kata. Submission wrestling is my all time favorite though. It is basically a style of ground fighting or wrestling where strikes are illegal, and the only real way to win is by making your opponent give up by putting him in a choke hold, wrist lock, arm bar, neck crank ect.
Just as Bruce lee had a physical limitation, my favorite fighter, a Brazilian named Jean Jacques Machado, Won the world largest no holds barred competition by submitting 4 opponents in 2 days, and he has no fingers on his left hand.
Warpmind >> Cool, I never heard of such a thing as that mutation before, does it offer any real advantages. Do you know which film that particular fight sequnce is in. I have most of his films but don't remember that particular one. And I know about that particular fight with the old school masters, but I was under the impression that they were Chinese, seeing as how Bruce was from Hong Kong. I know it is just semantics. Have you seen "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story", it is his biography and has that fight in there. He also had a standing challenge that he could beat anyone in the world in under a minute I think.
The most realistic fighter in films nowadays is Steven Seagal and his Aikido forms. What he does on screen is almost exactly what happens in real life. Aikido is the next style I am going to take up.
Mandolin >> I was wondering where you went, after this wait I was sure that you had fallen off the face of the earth. I will get back to you once I have time to finish the story

Christine> you are right phsyc experiments do happen all the time. These experiments are observation though (I took part of a number of these in college for extra credit for my phsyc classes). Look at what you listed in you example they are students observing behavioral patterns not causing them! What this person did is the equivalent of a medical student walking into a room and cutting someone to see how they bleed! Sorry This turned into a rant i just wanted to disagree with your statement and try to understand why part of the family is leaving (Fandom Family its the same to me)
