Hasn't Elisa already beaten Demona several times now?
This is driving me crazy. What does Chibi mean?
I got the flu for Christmas. Actually I got it a week ago but it's still here. :(

Hey all. Still here...maybe I'll be going out of town tomorrow, maybe the next day. Who knows...
Jimmy Stewart: Hate to break this to you guys, but like Zath and some of the others have said, Stewart DID die like, 2 or 3 YEARS ago, not recently. Sorry to see him go, though.
Matrix Anime: Dangit, Scott stole my thunder. I was gonna post that Matrix article. Anyway, there's something I wanted to focus on in particular:
”[The Wachowski brothers] have a story that essentially gets us from our world today to the world of The Matrix,” Silver said. “We’re talking about dealing with that story in animation, because it would be really impractical to shoot a war between man and machine in live action. The boys are very big fans of Japanese Anime -- Ghost in the Shell and Akira -- and we may involve that style in some kind of animation.”
While there's no confirmation there as to if it's gonna happen, at least you hear from the horse's mouth, so to speak, that the creators would *like* to do such a project. That, of course, doesn't mean it'll get done, but it's encouraging to see that the Wachowski's have some cool ideas for the...I guess we should call it the Matrix "series"? Maybe "Franchise"?
X-Men news: I guess Marvel is hoping the movie is gonna kick butt at the box office, cause the rumor out now is that, come this fall, a brand new X-Men animated show will debut as part of the WB Kids lineup. Some have pointed out that WB would not be willing to air a show based upon a Marvel property, because they (Warner Bros.) are owned by Time Warner, which owns Marvel's chief rival, DC Comics. However, what lends possible validity to this rumor is that fact that the WB *already* airs a show based upon a Marvel property--that being Men in Black. I'd look forward to another X-show. ANYTHING except "Detention".
Warpmind: Don't feel bad, I have somewhat of a fondness for country music. I don't listen to as much of it as I used to, but I was raised on that (my parents are from the deep South), and I suppose I have an affection for it (where as many other Americans feel nothing but disgust for it). My tastes do tend to range more towards the "mainstream" country artists like Shania Twain or Tim McGraw, though. (Besides, I liker her for the obvious reasons anyway ;)
Gaeriel: You like Faith Hill? That's my mother's favorite female country artist. I like some of her work, but it doesn't hurt that she's very pleasing to male eyes either! ;)

MATRIX > More on the possible anime prequel:
Matrix Meets Anime
anotheruniverse.com
In an interview with Empire magazine, producer Joel
Silver revealed that not only are brothers Andy and Larry
Wachowski working on two live-action sequels to The
Matrix, but there may even be an animated prequel in the
works.
”[The Wachowski brothers] have a story that essentially
gets us from our world today to the world of The
Matrix,” Silver said. “We’re talking about dealing with
that story in animation, because it would be really
impractical to shoot a war between man and machine in
live action. The boys are very big fans of Japanese
Anime -- Ghost in the Shell and Akira -- and we may
involve that style in some kind of animation.”

Gyre (and a couple of other people I can't remember right now)> Just because Elisa couldn't kill Demona doesn't mean she can't BEAT Demona. Assuming she could do something about the strength advantage, the flying, etc... (I figure a specially designed exo-suit could just about even up the odds), Elisa could render Demona unconscious. Then, if she was prepared (With Severius's anti-gargoyle knock out gas for instance), she could do lots worse things to Demona than kill her. The easiest would be to wrap Demona up in chains, with a gag in her mouth, and drop her into the foundations of a new building before the cement is poured.
Sure, Demona wouldn't die, but I bet after fifty years or so, she'd wish she could. To quote Hob Gadling (from Sandman - Men of Good Fortune) "Do you know how hungry a man can get when he doesn't eat, but he doesn't die?"
Of course, Elisa is too ethical, and moral, to do such a thing. Doing so would cause her to become as cruel as Demona (at least in her own mind).
Anyway, I don't think the real focus of the debate was an extended campagin, but a single encounter. In any normal such encounter (where both characters have their usual array of equimpent, skills, etc...) the odds heavily favor Demona, but not completely. Elisa would have to be extrordinaraly lucky as to terrain and other factors, but she COULD win a single engagement.

Matrix - I saw this as the new Star Wars. It caught people by surprise. I really did enjoy, and can't wait for the two sequels, and possibly an animated prequel...
Rock Horror Picture Show - They midnight showings in Austin on the weekends, which is where I'm going to be living for the next couple of months... It's one of those pointless nostalgia things, but I enjoy seeing it...
The Green Mile - One of the best movies I've ever seen. Michael Duncan (Coffey) should get best actor, and that was a hard role to get into... I think it should get best picture in the Oscar, as alot of the movies coming out this year are crap...
Man on the Moon - Again, I was pleasantly surprised by Jim Carrey. He showed himself to be a worthy actor in The Truman Show (another great film)... He should get some type of award for this...
I know it's a while off, but I got to thinking of the fils that came out this year, and my predictions for Oscar later next year are as follows (even though nominations haven't been announced yet):
Michael Duncan - best actor (The Green Mile)
Julianne Moore - best actress (Magnolia)
Doug Hutchison - best supporting actor (The Green Mile)
The Green Mile - best picture
Dogma - best screenplay (wishful thinking, I know)
Paul Thomas Anderson - best director (Magnolia)
Anyway, I guess I better get going... later all

MERRY CHRI... No, wait. Thats over. HAPPY NEW Y... No wait, thats not here yet... VISIT STATION 8'S CR! There we go...
Well, I started reading "Ender's Shadow" last night about 8 oclock. I finished it around 7 this morning. Good book, but a bit boring near the end since I've read Ender's Game a couple of times, and this book takes place the exact same time and covers basically the same events.
SJ- Yup, got Perfect Blue. And after discussing it with Coyote and watching it three times, I think I almost know whats going on!
As far as the RP... I have some interesting plans for the
rest of the year...
I won't say millenium cause it doesn't start till 2001 durnit... There was no year 0, we're just too impatient to wait an extra year to celebrate the millenium. But watch, after the coming year passes, everyone will be willing to accept 2001 as the true new millenium just for an excuse to party more... (ANd then they'll spend the whole year celebrating that fact, which is why the next day of true sanity will be I think, January 2nd, 2002.)
Rocky Horror Picture show in theaters- I think San Antonio still has midnight showings every Saturday...
Fire Storm- Matrix within a Matrix? Huh. Possibility.
Spacebabie- Oberon is Santa Claus? Wha? Explain this theory.
Deuce- I'll be looking forward to that summary!
**CHRISTMAS RP**

"Whats going on? I know your parties always manage to break out into fights, but whats this one about?"
Jim yells back. "I don't know!" as he ducks and a blunt object flies over his head. "There wasn't even anything in a previous post to indicate this was gonna happen! Its just random chaos!" When Jim notices there's a six way brawl going on between the Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Gargoyles, wild furbies, Pokemon and Digimon, he gets it.
"It broke out spontaneously between diffent trends!"
Raphael the ninja turtle turns his head. "No actually it broke out when someone ate the last piece of lemmon marange pie."
Jim shrugs and jumps into the free for all.

Hello, all! Glad to hear everyone seems to have had a good Christmas! Mine went OK, considering my mother tried her very hardest to ruin it. My big brother, sister-in-law, and I drove over, and things went downhill quickly. Her present to me was $2800 of the $4000 she stole from me, with the words, "Now, don't you feel stupid?" Because my little brothers were there, I didn't say what I wanted to, which was, "Where's the rest of it?" And because I blew her off and played with my little brothers and paid attention to my grandmother, she got in a pissy mood and snubbed Stephanie--Keith showed off the ultrasounds of the baby, and when Steph asked if Mom wanted to see it, she snappped, "No!" and looked at Stephanie as if she was crazy. Needless to say, we left a few minutes later, and Stephanie was crying on the way home (Mom didn't want Keith to marry her in the first place, and has refused to acknowlegde the fact that Steph's pregnant). I tried to call Mom all day, and she refused to answer the phone. I finally got through that night, and I asked if grandma was there--I'd gotten her the wrong size dress, and wanted to give her the receipt so she could get another size. Mom said she wasn't there; I, in completely surprise, asked where she was, and Mom hung up on me and took the phone off the hook. And because we couldn't get a hold of Mom, I didn't get to see my step-grandmother or grandfather for Christmas (they go to her house very year, and they hadn't gotten in yet when we were over there). And God only knows what she told them. Arg. Anyway, despite her, it was a pretty good Christmas. I racked up pretty decently--Parasite Eve, $100 (I used some of it to buy Harlan Ellison's "Angry Candy" (the store was out of "Slippage"), "The Wake" (the only "Sandman" book I didn't have), and when the stopres restock it, FF8 is *mine*), perfume from grandma, and a manicure kit (I think my family is trying to encourage me to be a *girl* or something...) I don't, however, consider my mom returning money she stole from me a present, even though I'm very happy to get it--it'll pay off all but $200 of some medical bills, and that alone makes me very, very, very, *very* happy. =) and as soon as I clean out the account, I intend to tell my mother that if it's her goal to drive all of her children away by acting like a vindictive five-year-old throwing a temper tantrum, she is succeeding admirably, and that will *also* make me happy. <g> Nothing like burning a few bridges...
Warpmind: Aiya, I only just figured out what you meant by "i f it's a boy, he'll make the ladies happy". Aiya! =)
Y2K: WHen the world doesn't end, I'm gonna have myself one *huge* laugh at all these people claiming the end is near. And if y'all haven't read it, go out immediately and buy Niel Gaiman's "Signal to Noise." You will understand why when you get it.

How people can think that in any fight worth the name Elisa
has a chance against Demona, they're dreaming. This is true for one simple reason, Demona cann't be killed by anyone but MacBeth. If Demona fails, she can keep coming back. That is an unbeatable advantage, and this doesn't even take into consideration Demona's superior resources. Face it, without Goliath, or a major upgrade, Elisa looses in the end.

*sits down exhausted from the after-Christmas sales while Chibi-Purgie scrurries off to try on her new lingere she bought for Chibi-Otto*
Simon> "Raise Yourself Day" *chuckles* that's the philosphy I use on a daily basis. Since I no longer eat but a scant amount of food once every few days, everyone knows that if they want to eat, they must prepare it themselves.
I have discovered a new snack though called Snack 'Ums by Kellogg's. These are like huge Froot Loops and are very tasty. ;D
Coyote and Mara> *grins muchly* awwww, ya'll are sooo cute! congrats and many wishes for a long and loving relationship. *hugs to both*
*looks down at Chibi-Purgie and Chibi-Otto* *gasps* NOOO!
Chibi-Otto: "awww, we were just trying to help Coyote and Mara with some lessons and visual aids." *wiggles eyebrows*
Chibi-Purgie: "yeah, you know the saying, ...teach a man to fish and he'll never starve" *giggles*
Jan: I'm sure that they don't need any lessons!
Chibi-Purgie and Chibi-Otto in unison: damn....
Santa was very good to me this year *g*. I received a nifty Swiss Army watch, a bread making machine, a beautiful fox tapestry, perfume, a computer battery back up thingy, a room fragance machine, a Sandcast figurine of a mother fox and her kits, a fox plush toy, a manicure kit, 3 pairs of gorgeous earring from Pistoff's mom and my most cherished gift of all.... a vaseline glass figurine of a fox from Pistoff!! *gently holds it up to show then returns it to next to the Fox beanie baby Pistoff gave me for my birthday last month* *hugs Pistoff again and again*
Elisa and Demona debate> each have their own qualities, stengths and disadvantages. I have to go with Elisa however because she has good in her heart - Demona is filled with hatred. I realize she has reasons for hate, but I personally prefer someone who has goodness and forgiveness within them.
*wearily gets up to put away the packages so to be ready for when Denis comes online at his scheduled time today* *happy feet dance*

** walks in, giving everybody candy and big post-Christmas hugs **
My mom has termed this "National Raise Yourself Day". Basically, if us kids want food, we have to get it. No chores, no other responsibilities, just sit and veg. Maybe rent a movie later. Who knows? **throws hands in air and grins**
Robby> Be glad to fill you in on War Planets/Shadow Raiders season 2... later this week I'll whip up a synopsis (like my ReBoot one I did last year). Too bad you didn't see it... lots of action and humour... a little innuendo... and the most twisted villain you'll ever see on a "kids" show: Julia.
What I got for Christmas:
Two CDs—Matthew Good Band's "Beautiful Midnight" and Radiohead's "OK Computer").
Three books—"Left Behind: Assassins", "Revelation Unveiled" (a bible book), and "The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh" by A.A. Milne, with full illustrations by Ernest Shepard... undoubtedly the cutest book I've ever seen.
New headphones for my CD player (finally!), and a CD player carrier-shoulder-bag type thing.
"The Dilbert Future" by Scott Adams. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone; it's not only hilarious, but the last chapters (which aren't humour but metaphysics and philosophy) will totally change the way you think. Un-friggin'-believable.
A feadóg—an Irish pennywhistle. Easy to play, and sounds great.
Loads and loads of candy. LOADS of candy. :-)
No clothes, except the obligatory socks from Grandma. :-) She gets me one pair of black socks every year... kinda our little joke.
My brother got NHL 2000 for Win98... the 3D graphics WITHOUT an accelerator card will blow you away. Needless to say I had to club him with my Winnie-the-Pooh book just to get him off the computer.
Y2K: Hey, I'll be there, maybe even on IM... assuming I can distract my mom. ;-) I know my computer's up to it, I just want to laugh in the faces of the doomsayers.
Hey, here's something really scary: last week's paper featured interviews with people regarding whether or not they were worried about the Y2K bug. One woman said she wasn't worried: "If the power turns off, they'll just turn it back on. If anything turns off they'll just turn it back on." Upon reading this, I felt an irresistable urge to kill this woman. HOW STUPID AND UNINFORMED CAN YOU BE?!
The Matrix: I dunno, I found the plot enthralling. But it just might have been Carrie-Anne Moss distracting me. ;-) Either way, any movie that has me walking out of a theatre going "Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.... Whoa...." is a kick-ass movie in my book.
Cherry Blossom> ["...my mom insisted on me wearing a skirt..."] Aw, poor thing. I hate dressing up... I usually get away with a clean button-up shirt and nice pants. o_O
Coyote> Glad you had a... good... Christmas. *hugs* I like seeing you happy.
SOROW> ["Did you all miss me?"] Always. :-) Hey congrats on the scanner; can't wait to see your picture. What brand is it? (Unless it's Hewlett-Packard, mine's better. **kisses his scanner**)
Anyway, off to do more nothing. I love doing nothing.

Oh yeah ... great Christmas this year ... :)
Sarge: Okay, I found another flavor. **hands Sarge another candy cane** How d'you feel about chocolate? :)
Y2K: I plan on flying into the face of conventional wisdom and being on-line at midnight. I'm very confident I'll survive because this computer is already Y2K-proofed.
Perfect Blue: Oh yes, a very very good film ... I swear, the writer must have been channeling Hitchcock when he wrote it. It's twisted enough to be a Hitchcock film, with enough dementia and plot twists to go around for everybody! :)
GB: Lisa (aka XenaTrek) can get access at home in Lansing, but she has to borrow computers from her family (brothers) to do it. I was just chattin' with her on IM last night ... I sent her a message telling her you posted, I do believe she'll like that, good sirrah.
Santa debate: Actually, I'd imagine that Graeme and Ariana would have been visited by extraordinarily generous Santas. Same with Alex, though he'd probably figure it out in a hurry. :)

Greetings all!
Christmas was good for my family this year... Aside from some great gifts from my family out in Florida (some gift certificates, and a George Foreman Lean Grill), we did rather well on gifts from each other. My missus got the new "Dragonholder" book, as well as James Clavell's "Children's Story"... the lil' one (my daughter) got a lot of Pokemon stuff (cards, a Pikachu pillow, a calendar for 2000, and a stuffed Pikachu), as well as some nice clothes, including a pair of multi-colored toe-socks...
As for me, I got two Playstation games... no, not Final Fantasy 8, but I did get Tomb Raider, The Last Revelation and Tekken 3. I also got a biography book on Robin Williams, a Fry Daddy deep fryer, and the Star Trek Starship Creator Deluxe for my comp... and I've been told by my missus that I'll be getting a new hard drive once her next paycheck arrives (if it had arrived before christmas, I would have gotten the hard drive yesterday.).
[Sets Chibi-Lara down to let her go wander around the room]
Well, even though this is a bit late, let me wish everyone a merry christmas and a hopeful wish for a wonderful new year.

I wanted and I got lottsa clothes. My mom got my this lotion
stuff, well I *thought* it was lotion. Turns out it was some kind of cleanser and my hands were really, really soapy afterwards. Oh, well.....

*Warpmind comes skidding into the CR, almost completely out of breath.*
I... uh... *gasp* I've come up with an idea... *wheeze* Do any of you know whether the "Make-A-Wish"-foundation is international? I might qualify... I have a medical condition for which there is neither cure nor treatment. It's not deadly, though, but still... a minor flaw in my genetic makeup that can cause lots of trouble throughout all my years might be enough to get through their qualification system...
Well, for Christmas this year I got some nice stuff, some not-so-nice stuff, and some stuff I couldn't care less about... For instance, I got some stuff for the kitchen, which is nice and all that, but my kitchen has so little space already, and I'm more likely to dish up something simple, like a pizza or something... And a turtleneck sweater, which is most likely going to just lay dormant in my closet, since I never wear ANYthing with a turtleneck... Ah, well, I got some stuff I like too, though, like Dilbert boxer shorts and a book... a tape with some various country music. *Flomps down in a couch.* And don't laugh. I LIKE Country music. An okay Christmas, all in all... and I got more presents than my sister for once... hehehehehe...
Sorow: I believe I once saw a fanfic where Santa had been at the castle, leaving a tall tree and a huge pile of presents... I can't remember its title, nor its author, but I wonder if it might have been in an older issue of Avalon Mists, possibly pre-Christine Morgan...
Zath: Heh, oh, those Windows problems... never really had'em on my own PC... 486SX33... DOS 6.X only... not a trace of Windows above 3.11... *Warpmind crosses the power wires on the front of his computer, and it starts with a hum.* It's alive! ALIVE! I always wanted to say that. As for selling a kidney... nah, I'm a bit too fond of my original parts, pal. Of course... there might be some less important bits I might sell... like my sister's kidney or something... Heh, and that Shithead story... amazing, what some parents can do...
Christine: That wasn't weird... at least it sounds like you mostly got things you were already drooling over... ;)
The Matrix: You know, I had the same idea as Fire Storm... a Matrix inside a Matrix... but here's a scary bit: I have almost come to suspect that we DO live in a Matrix... I have found myself on occasion "slowing down" time when involved in a fall, or something equally dangerous... it could be that my brain is just increasing computation speed to find the best possible means of easing the landing, but still... I'm almost scared. The day I get a phone call from someone calling himself Morpheus, I'll scream. Then again... awareness of living in a Matrix... imagine the stunts one could pull... belief makes it possible... Fulmenos Venite... you get my drift?
**CHRISTMAS RP**
Warpmind is sitting in a booth, merrily listening to the music from the stage and watching Brooklyn looking more and more nervous.
"Yo, Brooklyn! Sata! Over here!"
The two gargoyles looks around, then walks over.
"It's good to see you two."
"Do we know you?"
Warpmind smiles at Brooklyn's confusion.
"Oh, pardon my gaijin manners. We've never met, but I know a lot about your Timedancing... and I mean to offer you a Christmas present."
"How... never mind, we're listening."
"We are, Brooklyn-san?"
Warpmind waves the two toward the opposing bench in the booth.
"Sssh, quiet. I recommend you disguise yourselves, considering I just spotted three of Brooklyn's alterniverse mates come through the door. Take these."
Warpmind hands them two small gadgets.
"They're shields of inconspiciousness. Wear them, and nobody will bother you."
"True?"
"My word as a Norseman."
"Norse... you're a viking?"
Sata slowly reaches for her wakizashi, narrowing her eyes.
"No, not at all. There have been no vikings for about a thousand years. I'm just one of the last Norwegians to whom honor matters more than pride. Now you two just relax and enjoy the party."
On stage, Sinatra and the others team up in a chorus version of White Christmas, and dozens of ears turn toward them.
**CHRISTMAS RP END**

Merry Christmas to all from Gallatin, TN. Yep, I'm vising a friedn I haven't seen in two years and I'll be here until the fifth of January, which is great since my computer ist kaput!! She's got this great Gateway with a DVD player and all sorts of bells and whistles :)
So far, I took a bus from New Olrenas to Nashville and got delayed for three hours in Memphis on Christmas Eve. Then we wentto midnight Mass and her parernst went back to her apt with us and we all prayed the rosary (Joyful Mysteries of course). It seems some troublesome ones have been trolling about.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I don't know about you all, but grandparents really exhaust me! I think this is the best Christmas I've ever had though. My brother's getting married next year, I've never been happier with my sweetie, and I got some kick ass presents! I received gargoyle bookends, a japanese style picture frame screen, a journal for dreams, books, and clothes! What did everyone else get? We gave my dad a shredder and a *color* printer. So with this new software and the scanner, I think I have it made! I'm officially no longer in the stone age! MERRY CHRISTAS to all and I love you!

Well, again, Merry Christmas to everyone, cause it's still Christmas technically. For a few more minutes, anyway. Hope everyone had a good time. $NOTICE to all RPers: I'm gonna be going out of town, probably tomorrow, and will be gone most if not all of the week. Feel free to use my characters as you see fit, just remember those pesky rules (you know, the basic "don't kill me off" stuff). If you want, you can have Thailog go and do something nasty, I was gonna have him do so anyway ;) $
Really cool Christmas for me this year. As you may or may not know (you should, I've bitched about it enough) I have something of a ...dysfunctionl family. Family get togethers aren't exactly the best, cause then you're only taking several people who don't get along with each other in the first place, and suddenly confining them in a small location.
Still, this holiday season went very well. I got to hang with my young nieces and nephews, who for some reason idolize me (and rightly so ;), and with my siblings. And no hell was raised for once. Plus I got some good loot: several books, gift certificates to various stores, cool clothes, lotsa money, and some cool Playstation games (Parasite Eve, Jewel! :) Hope everybody else had a good holiday season as well!
Robby: You got Perfect Blue? Cool! I really liked that film. Bizarre, true, but I kinda like freaky stuff like that ;)
Kaioto: Was "Dragons of Summer Flame" any good? I have not read it, but I heard from some fellow Dragonlance fans that the book was only worthwhile reading if you want to see all the favorite characters get killed off.

I thought I might need Octie's help when dealing with the ISP problem on Monday. Looks like Duke's gonna be too hung over to be of much use...
*Chibi-Duke releases a belch that rattles the walls, then hiccups and grins* "Bitchin'!"
As for the continued disconnection problems... *Points at DC and nods at Chibi-OctaBrain.* Would you do the honors?
*Chibi-OctaBrain fires a brain-blast and strips the skin right off DC's worthless carcass. The remains collapse in a pool of blood.*
Thank you. That was pretty nifty.
*Chibi-Duke laughs. "Heh heh heh, what a mess!"
Well, I had a post written, but then I tried to scan something and the computer crashed. I had to reboot and lost the whole post. So this one will be short. Apologies for any replies I miss....
Merry Christmas, everybody! I got some nice stuff. A package of Omaha steaks, an OctaBrain figurine thingy, a copy of...YESSSS!...Hunter S. Thompson's "Better than Sex: Confessions of a Political Junkie." *huge grin* Thank you, Jannie!!!!
Let's see, I also got some money for Xmas...some of which I used to get...*drools*...the widescreen VHS of The Matrix (should be arriving within a week or so :)...issues 10 and 11 of The Hacker Files (now I only need to get my hands on #9 and I'll have the whole set :D)...And I've got my eyes on a zip drive for five bucks. *g* And I used some of the money to get a new muffler for the Pimpwagon....And there's even a bit left over... :)
Elisa vs. Demona debate: A lot of good points from everybody on this one, especially David's comment about responsibilty. He hit it on the head, pretty much. A couple of people have mentioned that Elisa isn't interesting. I kinda feel that way too, yet I'm sort of attached to the character. But she does seem a bit...bland. Which may have been the point. Here she is, just a regular ol' human, suddenly surrounded by the clan and all their weird enemies. I think that makes a nice contrast.
And Mara made a good point about Demona's fighting style. In fact, I noticed that about all the gargoyles--the way they fight is...basically, scream and leap. I'm not saying they should all be ninjas or something. Just that their strikes should be more precise. They're warriors, after all, and should have certain techniques beyond simply tackling an opponent and throwing him around. And considering how much time the clan spends getting shot at, they should start wearing Kevlar... ;)
But as for Elisa being uninteresting...well, the way I fix that is to _make_ her interesting. Hence, my evil plans for her future... *sinister chuckle* And Goliath...well, what happens will change him, as well...as he is now, he doesn't have much emotional range...but imagine what might happen if he's pushed too far and something inside him just...snaps. >8D And that's all I can say for now. hehe
The Matrix: Maybe the plot was kinda thin, but it was enough. I swear, I was paranoid for a while after seeing it the first time. I mean, what if...? :O If this really _is_ a dream, the bastard who programmed my life is gonna have some explaining to do. *cracks knuckles*
Damn. I had something else to mention...but it's gone now. Oh well. I'll come back in, if I remember it.... *scratches head and walks out. Chibi-Duke almost falls off, but Chibi-Octa pushes him back upright...*

**Robby walks in in a santa suit, but no padding or fake white beard or hat so he looks nothing like Santa**
Um... Merry something or other...
So, what did everyone else in here get for Christmas? I god three soundtrack CD's, (Mulan, Little Shop of Horrors, and the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast.) Got a copy of Iron Giant and two animes, (A rather bizarre and confusing flick called Perect Blue and Sailor Moon R, both subtitled and very cool.) Also a couple of t-shirts, some pens, Orson Scott Card's latest book, "Ender's Shadow", and that was about it...
Anime Matrix- No way its gonna happen. It would have to be made in Japan for a Japanese audience first. And since Matrix is an AMerican license... ANIMATED prequal possibly. In anime style possibly. But actual anime? Naaaah.
Tim P- The Matrix had more depth than the average action flick in that it DID make you think briefly... What if we ARE just dreaming? Granted, that was about the end of its depth... The romance was VERY poorly handled... And the action sequences sucked in my opinion. (BUt then, I've seen the later DBZ movies... Nothing quite compares after that...)
Aaron- I believe the Darkstalker you're thinking of is Hsien-Ko... I don't like her myself, and much prefer John Talbain...
Deu... Simon... Liked the take on the old classic. Wait a minute... You live in Canada... Any chance you could fill us in on what happens in War Planets/Shadow Raiders season 2?
Jimmie Stewart died? Ah man...
...
**LONG CHRISTMAS RP**
As the Rat Pack plays a really cool tune, Jim walks up to Dis Connect, who naturally, is also at the party.
"Hey, DC, you won't let Robby's scanner work."
"Um... Well..."
"Here, have this Christmas Present." Jim hands DC a box nicely wrapped.
"Oh no you don't! Its full of nasty critters or poisinous needles or something you got straight from HFIL! And... THe box is ticking! It's a bomb!" Dis connect throws the package away and smashes it. Jim shrugs.
"Hey, its your watch, you can destroy it if you want. Merry Christmas DC."
"Wha?" Jim walks on by to attend the rest of the party guests.
Meanwhile, at the band, Austin Powers is being a pest. "So, you guys are swingers eh? Groovy. But I bet I'm a better swinger than you." Frank Sinatra pauses for a moment in singing some sort of Christmas Carol, and looks at Austin Powers.
"No, here's swing for ya." And with a mighty punch, Powers is knocked to his feet, out cold. His hair and teeth fly off, and he is revealed to really be...
"Mike Myers? Huh." Jim comments. He then notices Demona off in the corner. "Hey Demmie!"
Demona growls and mutters something about her winning in a fight against Elisa, when from out of no where, she pulls a BFG. (Big freakin' gun).
"All of you in this room, prepeare to die!"
Elsewhere, Brooklyn shakes his head. "Not this shtick again... This is why I broke up with you!" sata is naturally confused about this. "Broke up with... Wha?"
"In the RP me and her dated for a while after getting drunk during one of Jim's other parties. But now that we're all here, since Milliways has apparently become a multi-verse..." Brooklyn's eyes suddenly go wide with fear when he realizes he has two or three dozen mates in this establishment...

Hi everybody. Merry Christmas. Just in case all the Y2K fanatics are right, I'll wish you a Happy New Year now, too. Of course, if they're all right, it won't be a very happy New Year for anyone but motorcycle gang members, survivalists, and Amish people with guns... Oh yeah, and really over the top SCA members.
Anyway, My X-mas haul was pretty good. I got enough new clothes that I won't have to venture near a mall for two months or so, and I got a medicine cabinet for my bathroom. I can finally unpack the box where I packed up all the stuff from my old medicine cabinet. Yea! I was getting really tired of having to root through a cardboard box to find my vitamins every morning.
The Matrix> I really liked it. The plot is thin, but doesn't have too many holes in it. The central conciet is so earthshattering (literally) that it takes a lot of time to make it clear. The special effects are good enough to hold the pieces together. Of course, the whole thing paled into insignificance when I saw the anime of Serial Experiments Lain. Go buy these tapes (or better yet DVDs) Go watch them. They're GOOD.
AotN> Thanks. Responsibility is a theme I work with a lot. It's one of the things I always liked about Gargoyles, not just with Demona.

<Mara> I must disagree. In all areas that matter, Demona will win in any contest against Elisa. Demona has resourses, skill in sorcery, firepower, and a whole lot of time. Let's look at Elisa, she has that puny police issue 9mm, and her cool headedness. She tends to depend on Goliath to pull her fat out of the fire, and most but not least, Elisa can be killed. Can anyone truly doubt that in any fight worth the name, Demona wins?

As for the Elisa/Demona fighting debate...
As much as I hate to say it, since I'm a huge Demona fan.. when it comes to the two of the brawling, Elisa will more or less always have an advantage. Why? Demona tends not to fight let's say... intelliginatly when she's up against Elisa. During High Noon she was mostly just lunging at her in hopes of knocking her down, as a cop, you'd think Eilsa would be used to that, ne? Also, Demona sort of forgets to use her advantages instead choosing to try to show Elisa up. Once again, in High Noon, instead of using the big laser thingy when she had the chance, she let Macbeth's taunt get to her and fought hand-tohand when it's obvious that she is not yet comfortable fighting in her human form. In another ep, where she "poisoned" Elisa, it would have been easy to have killed her while she was vunerable instead of saying "ciao" and leaving...
but then again i tend to think that Demona never really intended for Elisa to die that night anyway. Not before "howing goliath what humans really are like" So... if the trend keeps up ELisa will pretty much kick demmie's rear until demona can work through some of that temper tantrum she gets around the detective and fight more cool-headed, which is exactly what Elisa does..
did i lose anybody? *looks around, then down to see her Chibis cradling their heads in pain at following Mara's logic*
heh...

Hoo boy ... now she'll *really* be wanting to drive ...
Two great things happened while I was listening to the radio ... first, I got to hear "Snoopy and the Red Baron" for the first time this year. Second was the radio *FINALLY* played the arrangement of "Happy X-mas" that I've been looking for pretty much since I wrote "So This is Christmas ..." a year ago ... the one by Melissa Etheridge. I shrieked ... mom freaked because she was riding next to me. :)
Oh, did do some moviegoing yesterday ...
**SPOILERS AHEAD FOR "THE GREEN MILE!"**
Wow. That's all there is to it. It was just such a moving film, it's a travesty that it only got nominated for one Golden Globe. Of course, mom's sitting next to me telling me what the differences are in the book ... and putting my arm in a death grip during the botched execution of Delacroix. Gotta say, I really liked what eventually wound up happening to Percy ... never was there a more deserving jerkwad. :)
**END SPOILERS FOR "THE GREEN MILE!"**
Elisa/Demona debate: Well, if you ask me ... I like 'em both equally. They both very effectively developed Goliath's character at different parts of his life ... they really represent Goliath at the times he was with each. When he was with Demona, he seemed to be a bit more of a hellion, though near the time of the massacre he had started to tone down his act, reached out to the humans, something that Demona was unwilling to do, save for the Captain ... and we all know how *that* wound up. In the modern age, Elisa represents the aspect of his personality that makes him a defender rather than an attacker. He's more tempered ... more likely to show mercy than he was in the Dark Ages. She's everything that Goliath wants to be, a loved defender of the public. She also acts as his conscience, while Demona acted as his rage.
**Chibi-Elisa-chan and Rosanna go over to Mara's chibis and gives them all gifts and candy canes, as he approaches Mara** Nice to see ya back in action in the CR, Mara-chan. **hugs her**
Jimmy Stewart: Oh ... how ironic, the defining film of his career takes place at Christmastime, and he passes on ... we shall miss him.
Xanathar, re: Christmas spoils: Well, this nice new Xerox printer over my head is the main thing I got this year ... prints much better'n that old Compaq that I had to spoon-feed a page at a time.
**looks at Mara again** Though I think the greatest gift this year I received a week and a half early. **pulls out a *safe* mistletoe from an impossibly deep pocket and kisses Mara-chan tenderly, then puts it back**
Ah well, enough sentimentality. Let's PARTY!! **turns up the volume on Mara's boombox and dances with her, soon joined by Rosanna and all the chibis.**

Aaron: That part WAS part of the Test, for Palin. In Dragons of Summer Flame, when Raistlin is sprung from the Abyss because Chaos is set on rending Heaven and Earth, he returns to Caramon’s side and helps Palin, Steel, and Usha save the world. At the very end of the book, after all Caramon and Raistlin’s reconciliation, Fizban (aka Paladine aka Bahemut) tells Caramon the gods have to leave Krynn in order to keep Chaos from destroying it. He turns to leave, then looks back at Raistlin and asks, “Aren’t you coming with us?” and he takes Raistlin along to help build the next world. That entire book pretty much sunk the last nail in the coffin on Raistlin being saved by love.

Warpmind> Well, actually, *I* started the conversation, by something I said when I was scolding Rene. Something about how I would never use foul language about Elisa the way he did with Brooklyn, and then Angie wrote me back on that... you get the point.
Pistoff> Elisa with a deadly axe handle? *shudder*
Xanathar> Don't worry. The "children" did not damage me for life. :) They made me laugh, too! Thanx for the concern.
Todd> It makes sense for Elisa to kick Demona with the latter as human. But what about with the situation reversed ("The Mirror")? We are talking about a gargoyle who can match Goliath, and who has over 1,000 years of fighting experience. And yes, I agree with you about Elisa's purpose on the show; she fits it well. It's when she becomes the constant savior, counselor, friend, *lover*- then I can't stand her. :P
David> <<..responsibility vs. irresponsibility...>> Good points, here!
Bronx> <<I believe that somewhere there is an ounce of goodness still left in her.>> Yeah! Me, too. :)
Anime "Matrix"> In the words of Butthead: C-c-cool.
Aaron> Who two play Raistlin?! I will definitely need time to think that one over. Hey, we should think up actors and actresses for all the main characters!

*moment of silence* The great actor, Jimmy Stewart has passed away. One of the most awesome actors of all time, IMO. He stood for high morals and had integrity and could really act! To make him even greater was the fact that he was an Eagle Scout *smiles*
Jewel> I could tell you were having fun last night with dumb and dumber. I was getting ready to pop some popcorn and sit back and watch you intellectually slaughter them *winks*
*glances over at Chibi-Otto and Chibi-Purgie*
oh for cripe's sake... at least get under the mistletoe for that!! *shakes head*

*the lights of the CR fizzle out, replaced by the steady glow of christmas lights and several red and green glowsticks. Three Dog Night's "Joy to the World" blares from a small yet obscenely loud boombox. Xelloss, Demona and Angela walk in, dressed fashinably in brillant reds and deliscous looking greens, accompanied by their respected Chibis. SD Angie-chan is the one holding the boombox. Mara appears, in gargoyle form and all her Christmastime glory, red ribbons in her hair and around her tail.*
"Jerimiah was a bullfrog
was a good friend of mine
I never understood a word he said
but i helped him to drink his wine...
and he always had some very fine wine.."
From all of us to you and yours.. Merry Christmas. May light shine upon you and yours... and may your woes, hurts and melancholies be forgotten in the true spirit on the holidays.
"Joy to the world
All you boys and girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me."
That said... Enjoy the eggnog and lets party...

Ooooooh, so very tired, and the big day isn't even here yet. Oh wait...it's exactly 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard time!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!
Hope you all have a great one!
Jewel: No official Matrix prequel news yet? Well, it *was* a rumor I read, and I'd only just heard about it a couple days ago. It probably won't happen, but I can dream, huh? :)
As for the Matrix's popularity....it did have a plot. It may not have been the strongest one, and yeah, it may have been mainly eye candy, but it was, IMO, some of the most entertaining eye candy ever put out this year. What's better? Star Wars? I love the original series, but aside from Empire Strikes Back, the *entire* Star Wars series is largely eye candy. Matrix is just one of those uber-cool films that sticks with people. Plus I like seeing Carrie Ann Moss in black leather. ;)
Todd: I don't mind Elisa being proof that human/Gargoyle relations can work. It just still bothers me that Elisa *always* wins against Demona. I get tired of the "Demona wasn't used to being a human" excuse, but that excuse only works once, not the other times when Elisa has clocked Demona....
As for Demona spending her thousand years hiding instead of fighting....she can take on the likes of Goliath and Thailog and hold her ground. You gonna tell me that Elisa can take her down when she's on par with those two? I normally root for the humans when paired against a deadly inhuman foe, but for some reason it just bothers me when Elisa wins. Can't really explain it. Don't really know why, in dealing with a show that is largely implausible to begin with, I require Elisa to *realistically* be the loser.
Lil: Welcome! If you will, please allow your fellow Candian brother, Simon "Deuce" Crowley to take your sanity, and you'll fit right in with the rest of us in the asylum! ;)
BTW, is anyone watching the Catholic Mass tonight? I'm not Catholic myself, but I really feel for the Pope. The poor guy does not look well at all. Still, give him credit for making it through the service.
Well, I think Santa is here....so I'll be pounding the pillows in a few minutes. Hope everyone has a great Christmas! :)

Merry Christmas, all! =) =) =)
<g> My sister-in-law got her first ultrasounds fo the baby. We were all looking at them, and all any of us could say was, "Holy *God*, will you look at that the size of that *foot*! Damn, them some big feet!!!!" Stephanise said that the woman doing the ultrasound (a friend of hers; she works at a hospital) took one look at the kid's feet and said, "That child got your husband's feet!" Dad looked at it and yelped, "Its foot is bigger than its head! And it's got a big ol' head!"
Gunjack: <embaressed grin> Thank you. I'm bright pink now... Oh, and if you want a working, try my webpage. (The URL to go directly to the fanfic site is http://www.chickpages.com/bookworms/jfaulkne/fanfic.html )
Xanathar: Oh, don't worry. All Rene and Satan did was give me a good laugh. And Fire Storm, thanks. =)
Wilek: I had to go shopping again today. Bleh. I had to get my dad and grandfather presents, and went with my big brother and my dad. I managed to sneakily get Dad's, but then we headed back home, and about 4:30, my big brother and I went back out. Turns out my big brother had to get *four* things, and didn't know what to get any of them...one of whom was his wife. It took me two minutes to get my grandfather's gift, but it took us until closing to get Keith's stuff...and since he forgot to stop by the bank and had maxed out his card, guess who paid? <g> Eh, well. he doesn't let me forget my cruddy driving, I won't let him forget he's broke.
Warpmind: <evil grin> Thanks muchly for the cattle prod...
SJ: According to scifi weekly, no plans for a Matrix prequel, anime or otherwise. Darn it...

Aren't they precious!
Simon> Great poem, that definetly got me into cheer :)
Elisa> IMO, I have to agree (sorry forgot who said this)that she does try too hard in doing the right thing. To err is to human. Thankfully she is not totally perfect. Her role in gargoyles is important more or less!
Demona> I belive that somewhere there is an ounce of goodness still left in her. After seeing and experiancing so much, and having to face an eternity more, wouldn't you be bitter? Anyway, this tender side can be seen when she is with Angela. Perhaps even the darkest people can have some ray of light
Anyway, Merry Christmas and a happy new year :)

I'd like to make a statement of my own about Elisa. I think that Elisa has one very crucial, indeed, indispensible, role in the series. She is proof that it is possible for humans to make peace with gargoyles.
One of the key elements of "Gargoyles" is the whole business about the efforts of Goliath's clan to make peace with humanity, with Demona's hatred of humanity and war upon them by way of contrast. Now, to keep the "feared by humans" element going, most humans had to be portrayed in the series as anti-gargoyle. But the danger of that was that if handled poorly, the audience might wind up coming to the conclusion that Goliath and his clan were being simple-minded fools for believing that peace with humans were possible, and regard them with a certain amount of pity or contempt, as almost slaves ceaselessly loyal to a cruel and abusive master, which would be undesirable. There'd even be the temptation of the audience starting to side with Demona and decide that maybe she had the right idea about humans; of course, this could be countered by showing what a villain she is, but it would take more than that to invalidate her arguments. Therefore, the series needed to have at least one human who had a major role in it, and was consistently friendly and loyal to the gargoyles. That way, it could be made clear to the audience that not all humans were hopelessly anti-gargoyle, that there were some out there who had the capacity to reach out and make friends with them. Elisa is almost the series equivalent of the Biblical "ten just men" whose presence in a city otherwise filled with sin and iniquity can lead to that city being spared from destruction, in fact.

Hi everybody. Happy holidays. I would have been by earlier, but I've been kind of busy. I finally got the first chapter of Changeling Seed done and pretty close to error free. Then my e-mail decided to mess it up. I hope I finally got a clean copy to Christine by sending it through my work address.
If not, get back to me and I'll try again.
Anyway, It's been interesting to read Gargoyles related stuff in the room lately. I'm going to stand up for Elisa here. What, exactly, is wrong with having an unshakable moral code. Elisa does the right thing (or at least tries) regardless of the cost. If more people did that, the world would be a better place.
On the subject of Demona, I still personally think that her main character point is responsibility vs. irresponsibility, rather than love vs. hate. All through the animated series, every time she was confronted with the negative consequences of her decisions, she ran away from the situation, or lashed out at whoever she could find to blame. Until she learns to accept responsibility for her actions, it doesn't matter who she loves, or how much. She'll still tend to do destructive things. Love could be (actually, should be) a part of her transformation, because learning to love others causes you to feel responsible for their safety and happiness.
Personal responsibility is a big thing with me, though, so I tend to look at everything from that viewpoint.
See ya'll later.

** walks in carrying a bloody morningstar **
Rene and Satan have been... dealt with. I'll look into contacting their ISP's next week.
Here's something to fill the room (heh) and also give us a little of the good kind of Christmas spirit.
===
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Net,
There were hacker's a surfing. Geeks? Yeah, you bet.
The e-mails were stacked by the modem with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The newbies were nestled all snug by their screens,
While visions of Java danced in their dreams.
My wife on the sofa and me with a snack,
We just settled down at my rig (it's a Mac).
When out in the Web there arose such a clatter,
I jumped to the site to see what was the matter.
To a new page my Mac flew like a flash,
Then made a slight gurgle. It started to crash!!
I gasped at the thought and started to grouse,
Then turned my head sideways and clicked on my mouse.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
My Mac jumped to a page that wasn't quite clear.
When the image resolved, so bright and so quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick!
More rapid than mainframes, more graphics they came,
Then Nick glanced toward my screen,
My Mac called them by name:
"Now Compaq! Now Acer!", my speaker did reel;
"On Apple! On Gateway!" Santa started to squeal!
"Jump onto the circuits! And into the chip!
Now speed it up! Speed it up! Make this thing hip!"
The screen gave a flicker, he was into my RAM,
Then into my room rose a full hologram!
He was dressed in all red, from his head to his shoes,
Which were black (the white socks he really should lose).
He pulled out some discs he had stored in his backpack.
Santa looked like a dude who was rarin' to hack!
His eyes, how they twinkled! His glasses, how techno!
This ain't the same Santa that I used to know!
With a wink of his eye and a nod of his head,
Santa soon let me know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, gave my Mac a quick poke,
And accessed my C drive with only a stroke.
He defragged my hard drive, and added a SIMM,
Then threw in some cool games, just on a whim!
He worked without noise, his fingers they flew!
He distorted some pictures with Kai's Power Goo!
He updated Office, Excel and Quicken,
Then added a screensaver with a red clucking chicken!
My eyes widened a bit, my mouth stood agape,
As he added the latest version of Netscape.
The drive gave a whirl, as if it were pleased,
St. Nick coyly smiled, the computer appeased.
Then placing his finger on the bridge of his nose,
Santa turned into nothing but ones and zeros!
He flew back into my screen and through my uplink,
Back into the net with barely a blink.
But I heard his sweet voice as he flew from my sight,
"Happy surfing to all, and to all a good byte!"
Merry Christmas, all. Love you.
Simon

Aaron wanders in, looking bruised and haggard. Hyena-chan sits on his shoulder, happily taking her claws to a folded piece of paper.
Oh, good. The trolls are gone. Go Robby!
Angie> Well, I always thought Goliath never deserved Demona, but we all know I'm mental when it comes to the azure angel of darkness.
AotN> Yes! Another Rasitlin fan! Raistlin is the man! Assuming TSR ever got a chronicals movie done, who would you like to see play our fave bad@$$ wizard?
Toku> Well, if I remember correctly, in the DL:TNG prequel book, Raistlin actually talks to his nephew Palin, and says he sacrificed himself not for the world or anyone but himself, because Caramon showed him the future that would happen if he beat the Dark Queen (And he could have) The resulting conflict pretty much devastated Kryn leaving Raistlin as the god of a dead world. Since this was not to his liking, he threw the fight. When Palin tried to let him out of the Abyss, Raistlin tries to keep the portal open and let the Dark Queen into the world, as a way to appease her. (Of course, that part could've been a dream)
Jessie Feff> Purple hair? Kewl.
Tim> Yes, but 2001 doesn't make any frikkin' sense!
Wilek> Ah, a fellow Tie pilot, eh? Tell me, what's your favorite? I'm torn between the Defender, and the Gun Boat.
R/C> Of course. Santa is an Illuminatis! It all makes sense now.
This may be the last time I'm here for some time, so happy solstice, happy Haunaka, Merry christmas, happy kwanza, happy birthday (To anybody having one), and happy new year, in case I'm not back before then.
I leave you with these holiday decorations. Nods to Hyena-chan. She smiles and proudly displays what she's been working on, a set of paper dolls with wings and tails, but oddly, no heads.
Um, I thought I said snowflakes. Hyena-chan narrows her eyes, and pops claws the size of that character from Dark Stalkers out of her hands.
(Big sweatdrops) On the other hand, that's okay too.
The claws disappear, and Aaron heads for the door.
Later.

Merry Christmas from the future, folks! **looks at Rosanna, who nods, tuning the guitar again** We discovered something else about Chibi-Elisa-chan's love of music ... it's limited to Bill Engvall. So ... we found the most serious song on Bill Engvall's "Here's Your Christmas Album" to perform for you today. Give it a go, Rosanna.

THE CHRISTMAS SIGN
(Engvall/Grau/Peters)
The other day a man came up to me and told me that he could sell me salvation for a dollar. Then I saw a store and saw a book with the key to spiritual oneness. It seems to me these days we keep looking for a deeper meaning ... I guess we're looing for some kind of sign. Well let me tell you something, the sign's always been there... and it started with a star up in the sky.
There's a star up in the heavens
A guiding light for all to see
The baby King is born tonight
He comes to save both you and me
With shepherds, kings and animals
As his royal honored guests
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time
For tonight, may all God bless
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time.
Y'know, people have been looking for signs since the beginning of time. I mean, look at Mary. An unmarried woman, carrying the Son of God. You don't think she was lookin' for some kind of sign? YOu know what's interesting, I keep coming back to the same one ... that star up in the sky.
There's a star up in the heavens
A guiding light for all to see
The baby King is born tonight
He comes to save both you and me
With shepherds, kings and animals
As his royal honored guests
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time
For tonight, may all God bless
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time.
So the next time life's got you down, and you don't know where to turn, don't go out and buy the next quick-fix book, or call up the psychic hotline on TV. Just look for the sign ... you know what it is. That star, up in the sky.
There's a star up in the heavens
A guiding light for all to see
The baby King is born tonight
He comes to save both you and me
With shepherds, kings and animals
As his royal honored guests
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time
For tonight, may all God bless
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time.
Here's the sign, it's Christmas time.

Re Elisa beating Demona: one thing to keep in mind is that during the big fight in "High Noon" (the Elisa vs. Demona battle that everyone remembers), Demona was currently stuck as a human, and I'm not certain that she'd had that much time to really adjust to being in fighting situations where she couldn't make use of her gargoyle strength and abilities. Elisa wasn't similarly handicapped, having been a human all her life.

Heather re Final Fantasy 7:<<I'm trying to get to this part where I need to cross this marsh but there's this HUGE/Powerful snake that I will have to fight>>I can help you out Heather,ok here goes.....
The first thing that you need to know is that you can't cross the marsh without a Chocobo so go to the Chocobo ranch and purchase and equip the Chocobo lure materia.Once you've done that you have to find a Chocobo, they can be found near the ranch on the world map,You'll see these footprints that don't lead anywhere,Just walk around on top of the for a while and they should turn up in a similar way that monsters turn up(You can always tell If it's a Chocobo because the battle musics different,Once in battle mode, you will see a Chocobo flanked by at least two monsters and the objective of this is that you have to kill the monsters before the Chocobo runs away(Don't harm the Chocobo either, otherwise it will hurt you, then run away),Chocobo's can be fed "Greens"(which can be bought at the ranch)which will temporarily stop the Chocobo from running away giving you some time to kill the monsters.Once you've got the Chocobo, ride it across the marsh to the cave enterance on the other side....
I hope this information will be helpful to you.:)

Xanathar> <<Ooooh!!show me:)>> It's at http://mercury.spaceports.com/~wnereus/s8bc.JPG (name link). :) It has to be converted to a 256-color PCX before it'll work, though, and for some reason it ends up being horizontally squished when it actually appears on the fighter's wing (in Descent 3 at any rate; not sure how it'd react to anything else)... :/ <<Have you seen Freespace 2,It's probably the best first person space shooter I've played yet,"MASSIVE" capital ships,Eg the G.T.V.A. Collosus 7km long(Full scale) and takes about a minute and a half to fly from one end of it to the other and armed with over twenty B5 style beam cannons that can slice ships in half like a warm knife through butter.*Drools*:)>> Interesting...I may have to check that out. The only space fighting sims I'm familiar with are the TIE Fighter series, though; is there much of a learning curve? <<Tyrian!!*Sniffles*Aw now you've got this aging gamer feeling all nostalgic. ;( (I loved that game)>> You too? :) I think what I loved was all the different ships and weapons; not a common thing in shooters of this sort...
RPGs> Ehh, the only one I could get into is SMRPG (unless Zelda and Castlevania Symphony Of The Night count as RPGs)...The others kind of bore me (I HATE building levels; fortunately SMRPG made it not as much of a chore) and FF7...well, I can't get very far when my saved game insists upon committing suicide every few days. :/
Heather> <<I'm trying to get to this part where I need to cross this marsh but there's this HUGE/Powerful snake that I will have to fight.>> The Midgar Zolom? <eep> I'm not sure if it CAN be beaten...
Spacebabie> <<I've seen lists for favorite heros, and hotties about a list of favorite villins?>> Ooh...Sevarius, the Pack, Thailog, the Borg, the Dark Jedi, the Cabal, Henry Stauf, Abigail Craven, Dr. Wily, the Ancients, Damien Thorn, Scar, Zira, Ursula, Xizor, Frollo, any villain from Reboot, a lot of others I can't think of offhand...
Jewel> <<About a week after Faldwell proclaimed Harlan the anti-christ, a religious nut group immediately declared Harlan the new Messiah.>> O_O Ye gads, I don't know which is scarier...<<I actually got off work early, and spent 2 hours in the mall.>> You have my sincerest condolences, friend; I've heard of people wading into the crowds this time of year and never coming out...
Pistoff> ISP stuff> Oi...they're in for a *lot* of pain. That's even stupider than something my ISP did (misread my password when I first wrote it down for them; couldn't connect for an entire day). Ack...<<FOR YOUR SHOPPING CONVENIENCE, WE WILL BE CLOSED CHRISTMAS DAY.>> O_o Eesh...Christmas e-mail> ROTLFMTO!!! >:D
Cherry Blossom> <<Final Fantasy< *thinks* at least I think thats how you spell it... everyone in here is talking about and I have absolutely no_ clue what the heck it is! *growls slightly* geez I feel like a dunce sometimes...>> It's an RPG for the Playstation game console. Good game, but rather hard.
Rene and Satan> OK, who let my experiments loose? I was attempting to find out how long a human could live without a brain. :P
Robby> Thanks for banning those braindead morons; they were getting on my nerves...
Delphi> Round John Virgin? Heh...
Christine> <<at the time that I started calling Cat an elfkin, _I_ had never encountered the term before. I'm not surprised that it's out there, it's just that I'd personally never run into it.>> Ye know, that exact same thing happened to me, with my ficverse's Mage Knights. Odd, that...
Coyote> <<If YOU think it's fun to be playin' Rob Roy F**KHEAD in this room and do nothing but spew BRAIN SEWAGE for hours on end ... then you're definitely in the wrong place.>> I'm not sure...Being able to spew brain sewage would imply that they had any kind of brain matter in the first place, and the evidence so far is rather against that. ;)
SJ> <<Dude, did you know that a new Castlevania game is coming out for the Dreamcast?>> Known it for a while now. ;D As if the likes of Power Stone, Soul Caliber, and Resident Evil: Code Veronica weren't reason enough to buy the thing. ;) Considering that the previous CV game for a Sega console (Castlevania Bloodlines for the Genesis) was one of the best in the series, I think this one will be well worth the wait...Oh, I thought this would be interesting...There's apparently a new 2D Castlevania game in the works. Its Japanese name is something along the lines of Shin Dracula X (Shin=Japanese for New); I've no idea what console it'll be for, but it looks *amazing*...
Blindside> <<If you're wondering where I'm getting this info from, check out http://visualroute.datametrics.com/>> Ooh...I'll enjoy playing with this...Heh, this kind of thing is why I use a redirect server. ;)
Fire Storm> $1000 a week?! O_O Hm...nah. Too messy, and they'd probably have no use for a gargoyle anyhow...

Yeah! I'm 2oth! (or is the CR really messed up and split into two boards for this week?)
YEAH ROBBY! ^_^ Get those two <censored> outta this room!
Valentine & Jenna> Welcome back! :)
Lil> Welcome to the CR (uh, sorry if I all ready did this but I'm about to drop in bed and I'm not thinking very right, but you're welcomed nonetheless, unlike those other two jerks who are the first to ever be banned). :)
Anyway, I'll post again, but I'm super tired... G'night all! ^_^

*Warpmind de InzanE walks in, Maggie-chan sits on his shoulders, waving someone in. In comes Oslo Gospel Choir, singing various Christmas carols.*
Figured we could do with some carolers here, so I used some local contacts.
*Warpmind raises a hand to the choir. "To Arms! To Arms!" Maggie-chan pipes in "Two Legs! Two Legs!"*
Gside: Ooooo, midis... I might take a look.
Pissy: Hang in there, bud. And thanks for the Christmas e-mail... Me Like!
Cherry blossom: Final Fantasy is possibly the longest running RPG series for any console...
AotN: Rene didn't start the Elisa/Demona discussion. Don't know who did, but Rene didn't. As I recall it, the discussion was started by a regular with the ability to speak politely in the presence of others, and that pretty much excludes Rene, right?
Jewel: We intelligent types gotta stick together, right? *Hands Jewel a cattle prod and pulls up his gnawed-off shotgun.* On three, ok?
Fire Storm: Ooo, 1000$ a week? Oh, it's in Detroit... Damn. Well, better place an ad of myself, then.
Well, catch you later, and have a great holiday, y'hear

My friend called it out of curiousity. it is on the back page of a local rag called the "Metro Times." It is a sperm bank.
Gside: <So, just what text color is closest to tan?>
Soon. Very soon. All will be revealed.
Pissy: Well, it sounds like you will be changing ISP's alot soon. May I recomend USA.NET? Free e-mail. (www.netadress.com)
Jewel: I personaly liked how you handled those flamers yesterday.
Elf Bowling: Thats a pretty funny little game. My dad has it on his computer.

Matrix sequals and animae prequal: *GROAN* Wonderful. First a couple of retards bust in here to rip on everthing and now this.
"Sure, the plot was thinner than Willam Shatners hair, but it had great special effects!"
It was all eye candy! And people confuse this with depth? I bet that after they finish all three movies and that anime thing, you still only have enough plot for one or two movies. I'll take one 2001: A Space Oddysee over a dozen MATRIX's any day?

Hello, everyone. I'm so happy right now. Why? Well, let's just say my hair now matches my text color. Yup, I dyed it purple. It's my favorite color, and I've been wanting to do this for a long time. It's so gear... :D
Finished all my Christmas shopping today, despite the ice storm we had this morning into the afternoon. It's a 50 minute drive to shop , so the roads were a wee mite treacherous.
SJ > <<Unless of course they stick Steve Irwin in the title role. Then my butt is in that theater seat the very first day!>> Dude, I am so with you on that! Steve Irwin is so crazy; I love him! The first time I played Mage, our characterers got lost in a swamp and were rescued from crocodilian death by Steve. (Okay, we were being silly; we were just trying to get a handle on the rules and such).
Well, I have more to say, but I'm in a bit of a rush, last minute packing and all that. I'm going home for the holidays, for...well, until I get sick of my family, I guess. Probably a week at the most. They're a nice lot. ;) Everyone here have a lovely Christmas and New Year! See you next year! (Probably)

*Walks in with Chibi-Duke clinging to his pantleg. Chibi-Duke is holding a detonator in one hand.
So, Duke, it seems you let a couple of trolls slip through your patrol.
"$h!t happens."
Hmm, yes. Speaking of which, isn't it about time to rectify that?
Chibi-Duke presses the button on the detonator, and the room is shaken by two explosions, followed by twin SPLAT!!! sounds. Chibi-Duke grins. "Holy cow!"*
Just had to get that out of my system, folks. It's been that kind of day....
Anne and Spacebabie: Thanks for the hugs. ^_^
Gunjack: Ye gods. The same thing has happened to me on occasion. I hope it gets cleared up soon.
An anime "Matrix" prequel?? *drools*
Tori Spelling's stupidity: No, I wasn't surprised by it. Just amused at the anecdote. ;)
Bond girls faking it: I think this would be a severe blow to his confidence. James Bond is always calm and cool and in control...always acting as if he's God's gift. I just have a bad reaction to arrogance. And I think an event like this would be rather traumatic. I can just see it...poor Jimmy is sitting on the edge of the bed, looking totally dazed, when Jack Hammer walks by.
Jack: "Hey, _Dad,_ what's the matter?"
Bond: "She...said that she...*groan*...faked it."
Jack: "So did all the others, most likely."
Sometimes I just can't help myself... ;)
Finally, the Elisa vs. Demona thing. Well, it's true that Demona has been around for a long time...but she's spent most of that time running and hiding and scheming. Elisa has had rigorous police training. My creative-writing teacher once told the class about stuff he was involved in while in the National Guard during the mess at Berkely. The local police were teaching the NG people a variety of ways to kill people with axe handles. O_O Now, if Elisa's been taught tricks like that...hehehehe... She does win too often, though, and is too much of a good girl. But in my ficverse, a plot point is about to be revealed that'll show that Elisa has also screwed up in major ways. And there's a plot point on the horizon that'll make her turn rather...vicious. *evil grin* She'll still be a good guy, but she'll be willing to break some eggs to make an omelette--and she'll have the physical means to kick major ass. And that's all I can say for now... ;)
Well, I'm due to be disconnected any moment now, according to the pattern that's been driving me nuts the last few days, so I'd better post this just in case....
But not before a dose of Daily Stupidity...
FOR YOUR SHOPPING CONVENIENCE, WE WILL BE CLOSED CHRISTMAS DAY.

Hello, all!
Lil> Welcome! I visited your little site. Love the art! "Le cheval d'Odin" est tres chouette!
On Elisa...
Wilek> <<She's just a normal human, and those bore me. ;) She's fun to torture, though...>> *lol*
Robby> <<...Elisa is too dang good...she beats too many creatures that should wipe the walls with her.>> Yup. My thoughts exactly. I dare say you will all laugh @ me for this, but that is part of the reason I have never watched "The Mirror" all the way through (that, and the part where Goliath calls you-know-who "beautiful". Yikes!).
DragonLance Quote of the Night:
"I don't like to mention this, Caramon, since we've only just been introduced, but it is very rude to keep commenting on a person's size. For instance, you wouldn't like it very much if I called you Beer Barrel Belly, would you?"
- Tasslehoff Burrfoot, "The Soulforge"
(I might also add, for those of you who have not read this book, that this inquiry is followed by the hysterical laughter of... Raistlin!)
Alright, I told my mom that I'd wrap all the presents this year, and for two sets of twins and a lot of relatives, you can guess how that's going, so...(*I'm* a twin, btw; I'm only seventeen! They're my siblings!). :)
Merry Christmas Eve!

*with a ringing clang, the CR door is sliced off its hinges, and Valentine, eyes glowing brightly, walks in carrying a monoblade tachi. The gunjack heads for his desk, pulls a remote, and presses a small button. From concealed speakers in the desk, the opening notes of Metallica's "Whiskey in the Jar" begin to roll out*
Well, I'm back. like I said earlier, I would have posted on sunday, but station eight apperantly decided that it didn't like me any more... Robby, you weren't waving that Ban cannon around earlier in the week, were you? :P
Anyway, since I was last here, I discovered the joys of Metallica (it's unbelievable, but I'd never listened to their music before this last weekend), the wonders of mp3s, and turned in my best GM setion EVER. And that's just scratching the surface...
We playing with knives, blowguns, bokens, fists, feet, machettes, combat shovels, BB guns, .22 rifles, shotguns, throwing stars, darts, oil bottles, gallon jugs of peppermint milk, soda and shaving cream cans, fast cars, depression, and dementia.
Not to mention the theoretical weapons design, the 18-20 hours of GURPS, rampant wierdness, assualts with christmas lights, death threats, and home-made cookie dough. 8D
Ooo, and I got to assasinate Pinky with the afor-mentioned blowgun!
Ooo, and I got to have a six-hour debate about the inherent quality of "Gargoyles"
The sad part is that the game we were playing was a mission that Jeff and I started one and a half YEARS ago!!! We've played an estimated 150+ hours, and it's only been a week or two, game time! This weekend, we spent two entire days playuing through the second half of the fanalie, and WE STILL AREN'T DONE! If I'm not carefull, this baby's gonna eat me...
Anyway, as soon as I got home and found out I couldn't get in here, I decided to go for the fanfic archive. Jewell, I don't think I ever emailed you to mention this, but you were one of my favorite three authors back when I was up on the archive... Aparently, stories get better with age.:) Burned through the first five stories pretty quick, but the link for "thy hand belinda" was broken... gotta find an alternate site so I can get back to the feast... :)
Anyway, now that I've had four days to recover from self-destructive binging, it's time to start gearing up for the next hit... One friend (the calm one) arrives in two days, and the second (the crazy one) arrives a few days after that. We've got a week or two to go crazy, and I intend to squeeze every last drop out of it...
And on to the posts... *glances over and spots the cr@p spread across the CR floor* Oh, bloody heck...
Delphi - Loved the christmas story...:) glad to see the holiday spirit hasn't totally dried up...
Lil - Welcome to the CR! :) Don't worry, things'll calm down pretty soon...
*Valentine glances at his watch* Ugh, 11:42... Normally, I'd blaze on untill two AM, but I've been getting precious little sleep lately... I'll try for a real post tomorrow. *Valentine reaches into his desk and retrieves a long section of rope. He ties one end to his waist, and the other end to his comfy chair* If I'm not back in a day or two, send search parties...

Thanks Robby for taking care of the room so quickly.
Here's another cute kid story, I'm posting it again since the earlier unpleasantness was quite distracting.
> The Nativity Scene
> A 7-year old child was drawing a picture of the Nativity.
The picture was very good, including Mary, Joseph and, of course, baby Jesus.
>
> However, there was a fat man standing in the corner of the
stable, that just did not seem to fit in. When the child was asked about it,
> she replied, "Oh, That's Round John Virgin."

Jewel: Are you sure that's a new Final Fantasy game that's budgeted at 40 mill, or the Final Fantasy MOVIE? The film is set to come out summer of 2001 (it's taking them years to pound it out), and word is that the CGI is so real/advanced that it'll blow heavy CGI flicks like, oh, TPM, totally out of the water. Some stills I've seen make the character actually look like real people.

Dreamcast: I say wait for the Playstation II which is coming out in a few months. It's backwards compatable with regular Playstation games, it is supposed to blow Dreamcast out of the water with graphics. An example: the next Final Fantasy has a *40 million dollar budget* to take advanatge of everythign the PSII will be able to do...they only spent, I beleive, 5 mil on FFVIII...
