***TIMEDANCER SPOILER?***

You know, what I find odd is people complaining about Brooklyn and Payne not suffering from radiation poisoning before the next few episodes even air. I mean, even if in the next episode they aren't suffering, they might an episode or two later. Brooklyn can explain it with stone sleep by itself, and Payne might have something else going on from his man-made time portal. After all, Payne's portal was different than the Phoenix gate's. It was blue, and it didn't translate languages for him, so it may have had other, different effects on him. Oddly charged protons or something. Or, the staff may actually make Dr. Isac Payne suffer and then kill him with radiation poisoning. We have yet to see. Perhaps we should be a bit more patient before passing judgement on that account?

As far as the gap in history... Well, we know Manhattan is going to be hit by a major earthquake that will nearly level it... What if the earthquake is some sort of alien made worldwide thing? I'm sure the TGS staff has some sort of plan... (And perhaps Michael Barns was wrong about the year in Trust No Future? We never did learn the full back story there. The Chronos Project WAS dealing with wierd time stuff after all...)

**COMMENTS/SPOILERS ON CURRENT TGS EPISODE**

ARCHWOLF - You wrote: [I find it a little odd that the Nagasaki and Ishimura clans knew nothing of each other.]

Ishimura is some little village in the middle of nowhere. It isn't really near any big city or population center - if it was then Yama wouldn't have desired to move the clan out into the real world, he would have had it right next to him. And the fact that a clan is there at all is a secret - the best kept secret in Japan according to Kai. So it not being recognised immediately doesn't seem so odd.

It might be a good thing that its presented like that, with Ishimura not knowing about the Nagasaki Clan; this way the Nagasaki clan can be rationalized away as not being such a major clan, as perhaps being a small clan that only recently moved into Nagasaki. (I mentioned this idea in one of my previous posts.) That way there really wasn't a clan in a major city in the middle of the 20th century. They just happened to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time for a variety of reasons. (That family they were staying with could be their Elisa equivilent who came into the city looking for food and work. It would be like in Season 1 if Elisa had moved to Los Angeles and Goliath and company just moved along with her - something like that.)

You wrote: [Even if one was isolationist, a person traveling from one city to the next would be certain to mention something.]

But if the Ishimurans are sworn to keep the Ishimuran clan secret then they wouldn't mention them to anyone outside of Ishimura. And if the Nagasaki clan had spent the last few hundred years in isolation in the countryside and only recently moved into the city then there wouldn't be any information to relay about them to Ishimura.

You wrote: [If Brooklyn was awake, it wasn't just a minute after the bomb. It would have been a few hours.]

That's a good point that I got wrong in my last post. Still there should have still been a major amount of radiation in the air, at least enough to give a small dose to Payne and Brooklyn.

You wrote: [If a gargoyle can withstand 1000 years worth of weathering with no erosion, you would think they could survive a little extra radiation while in stone sleep.]

But the Gargoyles in Wyvern were under a magical spell and were living in an area of the world that was saturated with magic. They had that buffer to aid them along if they needed it. (Also they are not really stone but only an organic stone-like substance in daylight. So it seems reasonable that they wouldn't suffer the same type of erosion effects that actual stone would in a thousand years of just sitting there.)

But this does bring up an interesting point - the Wyvern Clan spent the last thousand years storing up solar energy. It wasn't in such an immediate dose but it was happening without stop for 1000 years. Why didn't they wake up to massive heart attacks?

(My understanding of Physics isn't that great but isn't there some difference in the type of energy that Gargoyles absorb from sunlight and from the energy they would get from an atom bomb? Wouldn't an atom bomb just shatter them if they were caught in its blast? And if they managed to escape the blast wave and the burning heat (Terminator 2 is flashing through my head right now) then wouldn't they just wake up right in time to get their radiation dose more than getting up to a heart attack? That's why I'm not so happy with this twist - it opens up a lot of ackward, unnecessary questions.)

**London, England
The newly elected Mayor "Red Ken" Livingston is in his Office with a video speaker connected to Rauol Castro.

"Comrade Livingston, it is so wonderful to see you as Mayour. Beware of the Catholic schoolgirl scouts. They already released Pinochet and they have sent a number of our protestors in jail or their graves. Also, Sevarisu Jr.'s men have captured my brother. It deosn't matter. I will eventually kill him and take over, but first we must return our inner-Party member Juan Miguel to Cuba and train little Elian to be my successor."

"I'll keep a look out for those scouts and that cat you warned me about. Now, I must start gaining support for a referendum to change London's name to Airstrip One. Hopefully, my friend and O'Brien and James Carville can help."**
TO BE CONTINUED!!!

As you just heard, things are going to be bad in England. The shadow of Marx will soon tower over Keynes as London has a Mayor who is called "Red Ken". This commie pig is an ex-Labour member and now an opponent of Tony Blair and his "New Labour" Party. Hopefully this guy will be just soem stooge like Bernie Sanders or Jerry Brown, but London could very well become Air Strip One.

Greetings to everyone. Weekend is beginning for me, and I hope all of us will have a great weekend. And if it will not...well, next week there will be another one!!! ;)

To everyone:> I think I already asked it, and probably I'm getting boring, but I need an answer. So I ask again. Since a couple of weeks, I can't access the CR Archive page. Every time I try to connect to it, I see a "Not Found" message. Now, what I want to know is: Am I the only one who has this problem? Or this thing happens to anyone else?

Green Baron:> Yeah, Garg / A-team would be funny. I think a Garg / Airwolf would be too (Just mind an encounter between Xanatos and Archangel...)...and about a Gargs / Supercar...imagine a dialogue between K.I.T.T. and Lexington...or K.A.R.R. (do you remember it?) discussing with Coyote about the tendency to evil in the artificial intelligences...
I am sad of hearing about the departing of the Cardinal O'Connor. I know nothing about him, but I'm sure his loss means a lot for you and for a lot of other people. I know how my community would react to the death of Carlo Maria Martini (Archibishop of Milano) and I think it is about the same.

Doug:> So, you're not going to write a Garg / A-Team crossover? Hmmm...I could think about it by myself...maybe later...
Of course, I'm glad to know you liked "Deep Red" and "Opera". For my opinion about the movies and suggestion for other Argento's movies, see my reply to Kit. (I add "Phenomena" to the list). I have started reading "Night of the Symbiotes". Seems very good to now, as I am getting used to expect by you. I'm very eager to see how things will develop. Be sure I'll send more feedback as I'll go on. And, by the way, your teasing about your next stories are VERY interesting to me, they seem to involve a lot of my favorite topics for a story.

Kitainia:> Maybe I am already late, but good luck with your final. As some friends of mine use to say: "Mettigliela nel Á˜\Ú al prof!!!" (Sorry, I don't want to translate it...;))

Jannie:> <<...You can find low mileage used ones in the price of range of $800-$1,200.>> Whoa! Bikes are cheap there, isn't it? At least, compared to the standards I'm used to...at the price you mentioned, the best you can afford here is a VERY high mileage 125cc piece of scrap...
So, you too are a biker, isn't it? Well, a former biker, as you say...but biker once, biker forever, I say...:)...just a thing I don't understand...you gave up biking for too much traffic? It is the best excuse to keep on riding for me! (My mom:" Marco, why do you keep on riding that dangerous bike?" Me:" Mommy, there's so much traffic around...with any other mean it takes three hours to reach the campus..." ;))

Warpmind:> Hey, that site about Diablo is great! I found a lot of things I didn't know! Thank you for telling us!

Well,I gotta go. I'll be here again later, tomorrow if not.

Ciao a tutti!

FIRESTORM - You wrote: [Would he really though? I mean, he only spent around 5 minutes in the post-detonation world. I don't think that is long enough for short-term side effects. Sure, maybe increased cancer rate in 20 years, but I don't see any problems within the next 10 years for him.]

Five minutes immediately after an atomic bombing, right near ground zero should have given him a radiation dose. Even a small dusting should give him some sort of symptoms in an immediate time period - if he doesn't show any signs in the first few hours or for a day or a day and a half then that's fine since it takes time for anything to work its way through a human body, but after that period there should be something - chills, fever, vomiting - something based on the amount of radiation that he was dosed with.

Standing a few steps from ground zero and escaping completely untouched would not only be hard to swallow as a real consequence but it also goes against the first solid rule of things in the Gargoyles Universe:

There are consequences to everything just like in the real world.

(I base my thoughts on how a person would be effected by radiation after an atomic bombing based on a book I read called WARDAY. The basic plot of it was that in 1988 there was a nuclear exchange with the Soviet Union in which New York, Washington, and San Antonio were destroyed. The story takes place in 1993 when two former New Yorkers (with Texan roots) decided to travel around America to find out how its changed in the 5 years since the war. A major part of the book was the scientific study that was done into how radiation would effect people. One of the main characters was in the middle of NYC at the time of the bombing and spent a lot of time talking about the radiation dose he recieved that shorted his life and how if he had been on the street during the hight of the fallout period, he would have been dosed redline and just died from major radiation posioning instead of just have his life shortened by 30 years.)

ROBBY - Re: Brooklyn's Prior Knowledge

I didn't have any problem with Brooklyn not recognising the name Nagasaki or what happened there. I never expected him to for the reasons you mentioned - It also helps to keep in perspective that he's since we've known him he's always been an person out of his own time, even before Timedancing.

Re: Payne Not Remembering

My difficulty here was with Payne's lack of recognition. At the time in the story it just came across to me as an attempt to build tension into something all of us would see coming. After all aside from not remembering Nagasaki was bombed, Payne was perfect in his attitude, actions, and memory. He didn't seem to give any evidence that he was effected by his scientific time travel outside of being upset with the fact that he was stuck in a technologically backward time. But if there is an explination, something ala Quantum Leap that will come up later on that will make this make more sense then I can accept it eventually. It's just now that it doesn't seem right.

Whew...last final is over! Now i could really use a good double-malt scotch. All I have to do is move out. *lloks around dorm room* oh boy.

**TD Spoilers***
"I am Become Death"...i guess the title says it all. Within a few minutes of beginning to read it, I wanted to stop. I really didn't want to see another clan destroyed, expecially that way *shudder* they say at ground zero, you don't feel anything...

I find it a little odd that the Nagasaki and Ishimura clans knew nothing of each other. Even if one was isolationist, a person travleing from one city t the next would be certain to mention something

I thought it was a little confusing...from the way Hiro greets Brooklyn initially, it seemed that Brooklyn ahd been around a few days before, buth when Brook and Payn Dance back to the day beofre, they are with Hiro for just a few minutes, right? oh well.

Patrick Toman><<If Brooklyn and this new guy Payne escape with no consequences, then, IMO, that would be a pretty significant oversight.>> If Brooklyn was awake, it wasn't just a minute after the bomb. It would have been a few hours. Granted, that still would have left Brooklyn and Payne exposed to a large dose of radiation, but not as big as if they had pooped in right after the blast. Besides, maybe being exposed to PGate's magic acts as some sort of a radiation buffer, or the gate itself acts as a sort of radiation scrubber or something. I agree with you about the lack of historical knowledge on the part of either Brooklyn or Payne, though. Those two should have both known.

one other thing...if a gargoyle can withstand 1000years worth of weathering with no erosion, you would think they could survive a little extra radiation while in stone sleep...oh well.

Should be fun to see what kind of trouble Payne gets Brooklyn into.
I'd say 7 out of 10 for this one.
**End Spoilers***

Kyryn> Best wishes for full healing.

Aaron><<Just think about how much fun it will be in a few years when you can challenge your old coach to a duel and say: "The circle is now complete. *Sees the 'Elisa turned against humanity' discussion*
Hm...here's another question...in the event Elisa _did_ turn on humanity (and the only way i could see this happening was the government sactioned/rewareded destruction of Clan Manhattan), would Demona try to make an ally of her?

1 = 0 >There is an argument that goes something like :" If you can not tell the difference between two numbers, or there is no apreciable difference, then the numbers are equal. I've been noticing a lot of division among Transformer over where the current series left them and I was thinking: If Gargoyles was to return, what direction(s) would the stories have to take to keep harmony between all fans (the new ones attracted by the series and the old ones who watched the original series)? That is a **big concern** of mine after seeing what is going in among transformer fans.

BTW, what are the current stats for visits to view TGS stories?

About the board going slow and going fast: in just depends on what is being discussed. Along as we in this room limit ourselves to one new topic at a time, we should be able to keep this room lively.

Even spending just ONE minute at ground zero right after a nuclear blast is enough to irradiate you and cause some immediate health problems. If Brooklyn and this new guy Payne escape with no consequences, then, IMO, that would be a pretty significant oversight.

Re: suspension of disbelief > This factor doesn't apply just totally across the board. All science fiction / fantasy requires the acceptance of of some things that seem improbable or farfetched (such as matter transportation, faster-than-light travel, or the existance of creatures that turn to stone in the daytime and come out only at night) to be appreciated, but its also important that plots, settings and characters maintain consistency with established patterns. In this case, we're being asked to accept that by the middle of this century, most of the recent history that we learned in school and are living through will be forgotten, with the only reason for it so far seeming to be "uh, because we want it like that." So until the stories themselves offer up an explanation for that gap in common knowledge that makes sense in the context of the overall plot, that point is a stumbling block for people like me, who just don't see it as reasonable or possible that something like that could happen given the current status of affairs in the world.

And again, the other problem I have with it is that it hasn't become very clear yet why, other than for convenience of a few subplots, it is even necessary for TD overall that history be such an unknown subject in the future. The thought of a proto-utopian world society springing up without any firm foundation base of common history and knowledge just seems beyond what I can accept by a normal amount of suspension of disbelief.

Buffy and Angel - Non Spoilers> I don't know if these count as spoilers or more like comments. Thought the Willow-Oz0Tara story was par excellant. Willow's acting at the end, I've only seen its kind on Sports Night last season. Definately impressed. The Riley-Buffy-Initiative thing I'm less that involved with. The big problem for me is that Riley is Buffy-whipped and Buffy is Riley-whipped.

Riley should have a better motivation for going against the Initiative than because his girlfriend tells him so. Riley hasn't shown any dissatisfaction with the way the Initiative is run. He's in aposition of power so he could change the way things are run. The only reason Riley is doing this like rescuing Oz is because of Buffy. Not a terribly strong reason to commit treason and turn your back on everything you know.

Buffy's not much better. Has anyone else notice that when Buffy's in love her IQ drops about ten points. There were some basic questions and things Buffy could have done, but spent most of that time being touchy-feely with Riley. Like what is the Initiatives goal? Why did they create Adam? These are basic questions that Buffy and the rest don't seem too interested in figuring out. The biggest example is with Willow. As a roomate, wouldn't she know something is up. I didn't expect her to know what Willow was thinking. But not know at all? You are a slayer, right?

Angel on the other hand is good and getting better. Only nit here is the now supposedly crack staff of the Sunnydale police force, hunting Faith. The Sunnydale PD, who can't catch a cold, who have people disappearing on a weekly basis and have no answer to that, who have a serpent destroy the high school and pass it off as mass hysteria, who couldn't find Buffy when she was pinned for murder (and how exactly did she beat that charge?) All of a sudden they've gone to the police academy and start doing some protecting and serving. That Kate is on the job is a great development for Angel. And that she was willing to slam Angel in a cell and let him go up in flames. Definately something that needs resolving before the end of sweeps.

Well I've vented my spleen. Hope you don't mind. See ya.

Just a quickest post, gotta go school.

Winterwolf:> I don't know exactly how does the motorbikes market work in the U.S., but I think a good second-hand enduro bike (A Honda Transalp, for example, that is a very reliable bike, light and easy to ride, good for long trips) would cost about a 3.000 - 4.000 $, even less if you are lucky...at least, it is the price you'd pay in Italy for that.

More later!

**COMMENTS/SPOILERS ON CURRENT TGS EPISODE**

ENTITY - You wrote: [It's such a trend in future-settings (or, in this case, characters from one) to have this perfect knowledge of every facet of history.]

I'm glad that this is on the mind of the TGS staff when it's planning out these stories. I agree that future characters tend to have that bit of Star Trek Syndrome attached to them and I'm glad that TGS is trying to avoid that. But I don't think that having a character from 2043 know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were both destroyed by atomic bombs is going in that direction. That Payne would know about it doesn't strike me as making him a know it all - its something that everyone is going to know. Hiroshima/Nagasaki are pretty much part of the vocabulary of the modern world. And 2043 isn't that far in the future that the world is suddenly going to grow so forgetful about Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

You wrote: [Payne lives in the future, not the past. He never took History, he took Physics twice.]

I took Physics twice too (but not for the same reasons as Payne would have :-) ) And both times some mention was made of the Atomic Bombs. It's not something you can escape if you are a student and/or a scientist. If he wouldn't know the dates of the bombing that's one thing. Or if he wouldn't know that one bomb was plutonium and another was uranium that's another thing. But not even having that instant total recall on Hiroshima/Nagasaki just seems off.

(Of course I could accept the explination that he was a bit woozy from scientific time travel, 3 days of hiding, and a day of fasting but even then it takes a lot of suspension of disbelief to buy that Nagasaki won't bring instant recognition to anyone from the 20/21st century.)

You wrote: [Urban myth is urban myth, and once Nagasaki blew up, the myth died with the urban.]

In NYC I can see such an urban myth existing. After all NYC is a skyscrapper city and a weirdness magnet. (Anyone who doesn't believe that hasn't had the pleasure of a NYC Subway ride :-) ) NYC is also a big place, an easy place to get lost in. But with Nagasaki, I just can't see such a secret being kept with the same ease as it is in NYC. It just seems like any clan that was thinking about living there would think twice about doing it since it would probably be easier to live out in the countryside than to live inside a small city full of possibly dangerous humans. Even the London clan which does maintain some sort of a presence in a major human city for a long period of time never does it openly - its just too dangerous. This isn't an era of multiculturalism after all. Even in such an era we've seen what kind of a reception Goliath and his clan got. How much more so would it be in a xenophobic Imperial Japanese city?

You wrote: [For them to be ionized would have been what you expect. I don't think giving Brooklyn flesh to woe over
factored in. It was more of an attempt at a twist.]

I'm glad that the staff is looking for ways to give us readers twists and turns in the stories. But I'm not so sure such a twist was necessary here. It seems to complicate the overall plot more than anything else. They died. They were going to die no matter what. It would have been more emotional if Brooklyn had gone back and not found anything left. It would have tied into the running plot of him not really having closure in anything.

You wrote: [The bodies? Lost in the shuffle. Or maybe the Illuminati covered it up. Or maybe the Japanese government did. Or maybe UFO's took them away. :)]

I can buy an Illuminati cover-up. Still it would have been much simplier to just have them shattered in the blast. Sometimes a twist isn't needed, especially when the emotion of the story was already carrying well enough without it. Brooklyn's feelings and reaction were the important thing, and that was being done very well without the presence of bodies. (It did just as well with the bodies there but I'm just stating personal preference here - I'm just not comfortable with the way that the Nagasaki clan got killed off. To me it felt like a way of adding more horror to an already horrible event so that Brooklyn would be even more devastated. It would have been a more striking testament to the power of the bomb if it had left nothing - not just wiping out Humans but also wiping out Gargoyles just as utterly, showing that in the end in the city Gargoyles and Humans aren't so different (and thus contrasting with the vast differences between Human and Gargoyle as illustrated by the behavior of Payne and Brooklyn).)

COYOTE - You gave some good theories. I'm sure that everything can be reconsiled in the end - anything can with a little creative thinking. I think though that the best way to go is to say that the small Nagasaki clan was only really attached to a single family (or maybe two of them), that they came into the city to protect them, and spread out to help some others after the situation got worse. It could be a sort of parallel with Elisa in Season 1. It would explain a small presence in the city and not being remembered overall. And it fixes up that dead zone I mentioned in my last post - this way there was and wasn't a Gargoyle clan in Nagasaki.

SEVARIUS JR - You wrote: [Here's the kind of rantish stuff. Why the nitpicking? It was a great story. There are 3 words you should keep in mind: supsension of disbelief.]

(Just wanted to put a small note in first - sometimes tone doesn't come across well in internet conversation and after reading what I wrote, I decided to add this to make it clear that the following reply isn't an angry reply or anything like that.)

First, it would kind of get boring in here if everyone just posted that the stories are great and that we loved this part or that part. With a little bit of exploration into the stories here and there, pointing and examining at this and that, we get a some good conversation.

Second I do have suspension of disbelief. I'm typing here about a time travelling Gargoyle after all. And I can accept a lot of things under suspension of disbelief. But sometimes things just stand out to me and I just need to comment on them. I don't intend to hurt the feelings of the writers or make them think that I didn't enjoy what they wrote or anything like that. But I don't see anything wrong with constructive commenting - sometimes we might see something that the writers might not notice and bringing it to their attention could avoid problems in later stories and even get the mind moving in directions that might not have occured to them without the comment.

Third, I never mention something negative without something positive. Personally I found Brooklyn to be very well done in this episode. He read like Brooklyn and not like someone who was trying to write what Brooklyn sounded like. The emotion, the attitude, the love and hate, the large and small moments, they all came out wonderfully in this episode. I didn't have a single problem with any of that. But sometimes its the small things that grate on a person. As great as some things I mentioned were, there were one or two moments when the other points I mentioned stuck out to me. For example when 1945 was implied (to me at least from the line I quoted) to be excluded from the count of modern times, the history student in me blinked for a second. It's like being an English teacher and reading a A paper only to come across two big typos. It's a minor point but because the rest of it is so good it just stands out to you.

It was a very good story and I look forward to seeing more from the authors. The work they did with Brooklyn himself and his moments with Payne as I said came off wonderful. But somethings just got me thinking and made me think that I should bring them up rather than just giving praise. I don't mind giving praise (and they do deserve praise for much of the tale) but I might as well add something else to the conversation or it won't be much of a conversation.

**SPOILERS** Heh, referenced the quote before I looked at the story. Very good story, but I seem to recall hearing that we papered both cities with warnings in English (stupid if we really wanted to warn them) about the bomb before we dropped it. I would thin that Brooklyn would have found a flyer and have been able to identify the danger earlier. **/SPOILER**

Warpmind> <<before you accidentally *do* anger any of our female members>>: Chances are, I do that by existing.

Wilek> <<found the basis for his next experimental weapon>>: Watch out, you're not going to find a material to withstand the stresses of the accelerations.
**SPOILERS again** <<Wouldn't the Gate turn to stone along with Brooklyn if he has it on him>>: The gate is its own entity, and a very magically powerful one too. It can probably resist, and it is generally in a pouch that has also turned to stone, so it probably doesn't usually matter. **/SPOILER**

Fire Storm> <<That's it! Now I just gotta find a MP3 copy...>>: Accelerandos are just so much fun. Even stepwise. But, I haven't wound anything for the ants, and there appears to be only one version of Johnny at mp3.com (at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/15/steve_vaus.html)
**SPOILERS once more**<<TOTALY leveled in the blast>>: Only within a 1.75 mile radius. And the large building only collapse, not get wiped out. (see http://www.nuc.berkeley.edu/neutronics/todd/nuc.bomb.html) **/SPOILERS**

James Birdsong> <<I am sane>>: Isn't part of insanity not realizing that you are insane? Everyone has their own little insanities, it helps to realize them.

Green Baron> <<OK. Who sang that?>>: If you're talking about "It's laissez-faire, I don't even give a care...", that would be Moxy Fru:vous from Toronto (and my baby loves a bunch of authors). The song was "King of Spain," and more information can be found at www.fruvous.com

Aaron> <<the let's bring all the monsters running approach>>: And I'd assume it would work on nasty little rogues trying to use me as a target.

Doug> <<The Postman (Believe it or not, I actually liked that movie)>>: It wasn't bad, just long. And it needed the time to tell the story.

Sev. Jr.> <<something to groove to as Strider's killing some Orcs.....>>: Nah, you need something like Orff's O Fortuna (velut luna...). You know, a nice heavy chorale. Organ work is good too (he says while listening to Toccata and Fugue in D minor). Period style works would be oh so good, and probably help with the suspension of disbelief. Mussorgsky might be all right, but is probably too Russian. Didn't Bilbo spend a good amout of time composing at Rivendel between chapters?
Tenchi Muyo: I need to catch that so I can understand what's happening in the RPG (two talking wood cylinders? an odd looking rabbit/cat?)

Winterwolf> <<I would use guardian and chain lightning myself>>: Both very good, but I was trying to come up with two spells that cover every angle immediately.
<<< Fat !@#$%, Fat !@#$%^&> How do you pronounce these two?>>: Well, since I am limited by CR rating standards, and my own rather victorian vocabulary, the first (judging by length) can be approximated as a female dog, and the second is a person born out of wedlock.

A Moment of silence for John Cardinal O'Connor…….
It will feel strange and solemn going to St. Patrick's Cathedral for a while.

Hi everybody! I have a question for the RP. How much would a bike (motorcycle) in decent condition cost? Something I would be able to reasonably ride for long distances for several days.

Aaron> For you lost equipment in Diablo you could always blame a handsome sorcerer you charmed you and stole your gear. This gives you a reason to go after your favorite targets namely the sorcerer since you blame them all. It's the Sorcerers' fault always the sorcerers! Does this sound like a slightly attitude shifted Demona?

Kyryn> My medical knowledge is near zilch. Wishing you to be completely well and I'll say a prayer for you.

******BEGIN RP - BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA******

"I'm telling you I saw a strange red light just to the side of the road. I think it was an alien."

"Did you find out where the light was coming from?"

"No way! I've watched enough X-files to know that if you go and look you wind up dead or missing. It wasn't natural that's for sure. I heard an explosion as I was running back to my car."

"Now I know your just making it up! You watch X-files too much."

Winterwolf smirked. It didn't matter if he didn't see anything and decided to keep it to himself. The waitress came over and apologized for keeping him waiting. He smiled and said it was no problem. He paid his tab and left.

******END RP - BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA******

Gside> <flame waves and novas> I would use guardian and chain lightning myself. <True loss> I lost all my characters including my level 31 sorcerer due to deleting the temp files in Windows. How was I supposed to know there was something in there for Diablo? This only affected the multiplayer characters but those where the best ones. The got Griff! He was my level 29 Fighter. Doh! < Fat !@#$%, Fat !@#$%^&> How do you pronounce these two? Can you spell the phonetically? ;)

Wilek> <<Diablo> What is this?>> It's a fun computer game. I'd be happy to give you my copy if you want to try it out.

******TD SPOILERS******

I liked "I am become death". A few quick points. I would have also like some more time to get to know the Nagasaki clan. Focusing on a little more of the interaction between Brooklyn and the clan. While I found myself liking the characters I didn't get really attached to them. The graphics where great. The two pics really helped establish the change in mood from beginning to end.

The deaths after the blast> Being overcharged by the blast in stone sleep and dying when awake seems plausible. Of course you could always make up you own reason. Payne was speculating after all. It was his "best guess".

Fire Storm> <I thought there was gonna be a Griff thing where he saved one of them.> I don't think that would have worked out very well. Where is my clan? Griff was reunited with his clan. That wasn't going to happen here. There would just be a gargoyle that had lost his entire clan and his protectorate. Not to mention that would be dishonorable to that gargoyle. A clan stands or falls together.

Payne is a pain. And that's the truth. ;) He's going to be an interesting one to deal with. Will Payne and Brooklyn have to deal with radiation poisoning? They are in a very dangerous area for a while. I'll give Brooklyn some Rad Away but Payne will have to suffer. ;)

DPH and Coyote the Bando> <Perhaps rather than the Nagasaki clan being isolationist, it's the other way around (Ishimura is the isolationist)> I have to agree with Coyote on this one. The Nagasaki clan seems more open in general. Of course it is pretty difficult to get an accurate since this is the only time we've seen them.

**TIMEDANCER STUFF**

Phoenix gate turning to stone- Even after all this time, Brooklyn still thinks of the gate as a seperate thing from himself. He hates it and wishes he could get rid of it, and even talks to it at times. Hence, he doesn't think its part of him, so it can work even after he goes to sleep.

Brooklyn's prior knowledge- Bear in mind he woke up in 1996 Manhattan, and never went to school. Then keep in mind how much American society tries to pretend that the bomb droppings never happened. I don't find it surprising at all that Brooklyn didn't know about it, especially after 20-25 years of Timedancing between so many different time periods... Heck, *I* don't remember off the top of my head what year the atomic bombs fell let alone the day, and I only remember WHERE because I had a major project on it a few years back. I never even heard of Nagasaki myself until like the 6th grade. I barely knew what Hiroshima was. Remember, as a rule, American's are generally ignorant about their past, especially since schools try to cover up the bad stuff. If it was before their lifetime, its ancient history. And Payne was involved in the Chronos Project, he was probably studying other, more lucritive time periods a bit more extensivley...

Payne not remembering the dropping of the atomic bombs and feeling atomic fallout- *Laughs maniacally* But besides the point I just made, there actually *IS* a reason he doesn't remember history that well. (Outside of the fact that he took Physics twice and never history.) Keep in mind when Payne did his first timedance, it was through an unstable, man made time portal. Side effects of such remain to be seen. (Al then says "It made swiss cheese out of your brain.") As far Payne suffering from radiation poisoning, well... It may not come up in the next episode, but ... Trust us a little.

****PAUSE RP****

Okay, time to play catch up with the CR.

Star Wars stuff: Rumor out now is that the "hot pick" to play Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming second prequel is a young actor by the name of Hayden Christensen. He's relatively unknown, but he has done some small stuff. A few movies, I believe. Hey, if this is true, I'll be happy. Could be lots worse--we could be seeing some of those pretty boys from Dawson's Creek wielding a lightsaber.
The other rumor coming out of the Lucas camp is that the part of Bail Organa will be played by one of these 3 actors: Ryan Phillipe, Sean Patrick Flannery, or the earlier reported potential Anakin, Christian Bale. This part is particularly important because, if the rumors about the plot can be believed, Bail Organa will be involved in a sort of bizarre love triangle with Amidala and Anakin.
I'm not particularly keen on Ryan Phillipe, but hey, at least it ain't a Backstreet Boy or one of N*Sync.

Lord of the Rings News: I think this will please some of the folks in here. It's been rumoured that folk singer Loreena McKennitt (she did that Mummer's Dance thing) is going to do some work for the LOTR soundtrack. I have absolutely no clue about folk music, but it seems like a perfect match for LOTR. Too bad I hate folk music. I was hoping for a nice little heavy metal soundtrack....you know, something to groove to as Strider's killing some Orcs.....I guess we'll never hear the Frodo Baggins remix of "Enter Sandman". Damn it.

Cartoon Network news: They'll be adding the wonderful Tenchi Muyo series to their Toonami lineup this fall!! Whoo hoo! Know what this means? Lots and lots more Ryoko for me! I love that crazy, demonic girl. ;)

Area 51: I agree with Warpmind--if the government really kept all their cool crap their, would they purposefully let everyone know it? Area 51 is a joke. It's a cliche. It's a friggin' t-shirt, a stuffed toy, a happy meal from McD's. Trust me, the government keeps all their alien stuff hidden away where no one would expect to look. ;)
I tend to disbelieve in aliens myself. I'm open to the possibility of their existence, but I don't hold much hope for it. I do, however, believe something went down in Roswell. It was probably just some secret government aircraft or something, but something shady went down in the desert that day.

Taking Over Canada: How many times do I have to say this? It would be pointless to take over Canada, cause Canada is really just America with an arctic flavor. They just don't realize this yet.
And yes, before you ask, that WAS a joke. ;) Hey, somebody made the obligatory "us Canadians should band together!" reference, you have to let me poke a little fun! :)

TGS Story: Okay, I'm not gonna go much into spoilers, but I do have a semi-rant here. First off, let me say, great story. The writers did a great job--Coyote, be damn proud of yourself buddy.
Here's the kind of rantish stuff. Why the nitpicking? It was a great story. There are 3 words you should keep in mind: supsension of disbelief. If you read the whole damn story, and the only thing that sticks out in your mind about the fic was how it was so uncharacteristic that a gargoyle clan existed and no one knew about it, or you quibble over the author's definition of "modern times", then there's a problem. Look, you are reading a story about GARGOYLES. You know, big, non-human humanoid creatures with big ass wings sticking out of their backs that turn to stone by day that DO NOT in the least exist in our 'real' world except for a few stone statues. If you can suspend your disbelief long enough to buy the concept that such creatures exist, you can suspend it enough to accept that a Nagasaki clan existed without much publicity. I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh, I just feel this is nitpicking an otherwise great story.

****RESUME RP****
On the Avatar....

Mephisto looked around the control room, where the various heroes were standing only moments before. "Oh dear. It seems as if they've made a run for it. No matter." He moved to a control console. "My demons are ready to invade, AND I have a new base from which to launch all of my operations."
The demon lord sat down in a chair and propped up his feet. "Hmmm. It's good to be me."
He looked around at his minions, who were staring at him expectantly. "Well," he snapped. "What are you waiting for? We have a planet to conquer!" He was greeted by roars of approval and triumph....

Anyone heard anything about why adult.gargoyles-fans.org is the only part of wyvernweb still down? I can get to TGS and the general fanfic archive and the Gathering sites all just fine. Weird.

** Begin TD discussion (no spoilers, just comments) **

"Modern times" can be a relative term depending on the timescale you're looking at. The entire period beginning with the appearance of homo sapiens could be "modern times" in a grand evolution of the planet sense. On the other extreme, "modern" in reference to technology (like computers) could refer to just the past year or six months.

I would agree, though, that the interval between 1945 and 2043 seems a bit short to make it believable that major events of WWII (such as the atomic bombing was) could be obliterated from the body of general knowledge. That's only a space of 98 years, and though it would be doubtful that there would be many people still alive with firsthand knowledge (i.e., people now in their hundred and teens who were alive in 1945 and saw the newsreels), there certainly would be a lot of people with secondhand and thirdhand knowledge from hearing their parents or grandparents talk about the war. Plus the fact that someone who is 18 years old today and sitting in a History class in a highschool somewhere would only be 61 in 2043... it just makes it seem unreasonable that the atomic bomb would be forgotten about.

I'm not sure, either, what purpose this type of thing is serving in the future-world parts Timedancer... that is, why it is that all-too-often weak explanations keep being made for why so much of the history of the late 20th century has been forgotten so soon into the 21st. It just seems too improbable that this could happen considering how increasingly detailed and voluminous mankind has become in regards to recording history. With all we know about the Civil War, for example, which happened over 100 years ago, I can't see how WWII, which was a much greater and widerspread event, could be forgotten by the mid 2040s.

Maybe as Timedancer continues, however, it will become more clear why it's necessary for the future world to be so disconnected from its past... and some better explanations will be offered for it. The reasoning of "the knowledge was lost" is all well and good, but the how and why have still yet to be satisfactorially explained, IMO.

And for the record... I also agree on the problems Airwalker stated about having a gargoyle clan in Japan in 1945.

Airwalker, re: no evidence of Nagasaki clan: This is one of those things that can be explained by simple human nature; i.e., the survivors may indeed have talked of the Nagasaki clan, however those humanitarian workers who helped rebuild after the bombs may have attributed the stories to post-traumatic stress (or simply "madness," since PTS didn't technically exist as a pshychological term until after Vietnam). Also consider the amount of carnage that the bomb wreaked upon Nagasaki ... also consider that Nagasaki was a fairly medium-sized industrial city (in American terms ... if Hiroshima is Chicago, then Nagasaki is Detroit), so it's possible that the gargoyles' protectorate only spanned a small area within the city, and because of the unnamed neighborhood's proximity to ground zero, there would be few (if any) survivors remaining who would *remember* them, even.
All of these are mere possibilities, though. I'm not stating this is the writ-in-stone fact.

DARK FUTURE> Thanks for pointing this out, everybody. Since TGS I've barely touched fanfic, and so I'd never read this interesting A.U. of Durid's.

AIRWALKER> RE: I AM BECOME DEATH. Well, I co-outlined, so I'm using that as an excuse to answer a couple of these. :)

Payne not remembering Nagasaki - It's such a trend in future-settings (or, in this case, characters from one) to have this perfect knowledge of every facet of history. Star Trek has been particularly guilty of this. Payne lives in the future, not the past. He never took History, he took Physics twice.

Open relations in the city - Urban myth is urban myth, and once Nagasaki blew up, the myth died with the urban. Besides, the Japanese probably had grander things to whisper about after this.

The final fate - For them to be ionized would have been what you expect. I don't think giving Brooklyn flesh to woe over factored in. It was more of an attempt at a twist. The bodies? Lost in the shuffle. Or maybe the Illuminati covered it up. Or maybe the Japanese government did. Or maybe UFO's took them away. :)

BUFFY/ANGEL> I liked Angel more than Buffy, but both were fantastic. I agree that Angel was the best episode of the season. It had it all, and unlike some Buffy episodes that tried for the same, it pulled it off without it looking like it was trying to 'pull out all the stops' for the sake of it. As for Tara and Willow... I just don't care for Tara. They already have a surplus of characters on the show. She's just more baggage. Anyone remember the first season, when the 'Scooby Gang' consisted of just Xander and Willow? There was such chemistry back then. That's how Angel is now. Picture Angel's 'groupies', as Spike would say, tripling, and that's what has happened to Buffy.

Besides, there's something fishy about this Tara... or there should be. What about the episode when she purposely threw a wrench into that spell that would detect all evil in the vicinity? Hmmm...

seeing how this is the first comiccon to show up in town in a decade or so, it's a kind of cool thing to hear...

I once read an Issaic Asimov of Ray Bradberry short story that says that modern times begins 1 second ago Ariwalker. When you time travel to the past who's to say it has to be years or even months back. Seconds back in time is possible as I'm sure all people with the slightst temperial physics commen sense know

Todd Jensen- I'd never really thought about whether it was day or night during that vision, just stress had made Elisa look older then she was, say if she was 45 then she looked 55. Sorry I took so long to write back.

I watched my tape of Deadly Force recently. Has anyone ever wondered what Hudson, Lexington, and Brooklyn were doing ahen thet found out she was shot?

**COMMENTS/SPOILERS ON CURRENT TGS EPISODE**

I'm in agreement with everyone else - Great title for this episode. I found two things enjoyable about this episode:

1. As has been a growing trend since GIRI, we have been seeing Brooklyn's emotions very well. His pain at the end especially is very well written - you can feel the grief coming off of him in waves. And Sata's absence is still felt very much; we can still see the huge gap in the story that will always exist as long as she's not timedancing with Brooklyn.

2. Brooklyn finally has a travelling companion. It's an interesting twist having Payne wander time with Brooklyn. It sets up an interesting situation completely unlike the one that existed when Sata first started traveling with Brooklyn. They're not friends, they have no desire to be, and they are stuck with each other. Brooklyn is stuck in a way - he can't leave Payne in the past and he can't even be sure about bringing Payne back to his own time because who knows what he'll do then? At the same time Payne, while hating Brooklyn is also stuck with him - he has to protect him during the day or else he could get stuck somewhere he really doesn't want to be. It's a really good odd couple set up.

But at the same time I had a very hard time accepting many of the plot points presented in the episode:

1. We all knew that Nagasaki was going to be destroyed and while I did appreciate the attempt to build some tension by having neither Brooklyn or Payne realize what was going to happen for half the episode, I had a real hard time buying that Payne didn't immediately recognize the name Nagasaki and had to take so long to remember what happened there. With Brooklyn it was completely believable - he might have learned history but in the end he is still originally from the 10th century and so he'd be very less likely to remember (if he remembered at all) the city name or what happened there. But Payne is coming out of a soon to be our present time period - 2043 is the year that is mentioned. Nagasaki isn't something that should pass over his head. Especially the since he's a scientist - what scientist is going to forget where the first two atomic bombs were dropped?

There was some attempt to try and make it believable - the mention of lost archives in some sort of a disaster of some sort - but I still couldn't buy that so close to our present. 2043 is only 43 years in the future. Even with lost records, something like this isn't going to be forgotten from the public conscience so soon. If Payne were coming out of 2343 or 2443 then with some sort of major records loss like the one mentioned I could believe his momentary lapse in memory - those dates would be far enough in the future that WW2 and the atomic bombs wouldn't mean much to someone unless he or she were a history student but not having instant recognition of Hiroshima/Nagasaki in 2043? That's way too soon to be forgetting.

2. A Gargoyle Clan in Nagasaki. In theory I don't really have anything against another clan having been in existance in the past. But there was a Gargoyle clan OPENLY wandering around a major city in the middle of the 20th century and nobody knew about it, with not even rumors circulating around about it? And there's no memory of it? It sounds very much like the kind of thing that people would tend to talk about. (Especially since there are bodies left afterwards. Nagasaki was cleaned up after the bombing. The Gargoyle bodies would have been found. And yet there's no historical mention of them, not even something along the lines of the atomic bomb causing radical monstrous mutation in human victims?)

Gargoyles are supposed to be unheard of in the 20th century. All the existing clans that we had been introduced to were isolated in some way:

The London clan doesn't live in the city and those of them who do pretend to be human beings in masks. The Ishimuran clan lives with humans in a small village in the middle of nowhere. The Mayan clan is in the middle of a rainforest. The New Olympian clan is on New Olympus which is completely unknown to the world. And the Avalon clan is on a mystical island. The only clan to really live in a major city was the Manhattan clan. And even they lived secretly for most of the time they were there. They still would be if not for the Hunters.

On top of all that 1945 is being refered to as if it weren't modern times and so having a clan wander around without comment would be possible. Here's what was written:

"It didn’t make sense. Hiro’s clan has such an open relationship with the people, and yet neither Goliath nor the Ishimura gargoyles had mentioned another Japanese clan. Why weren’t they remembered in modern times?"

1945 isn't modern times? So when do they begin? In 1994? As a history major that definition goes against every fiber of my being. Modern times couldn't have just started 6 years ago.

And open activity by Gargoyles in the Human world has to stop at some point in history. If there have been Gargoyles always wandering around human cities protecting humanity then it lessens the impact of the Manhattan clan's reawakening. It's supposed to be sort of like Gargoyles almost died off, reaching an all time population low in the 1990's and even with most of them forgetting about what it means to protect and then Goliath and company reappear, sparking the beginnings of a true renaissance. Inserting a clan here and there is alright but the timeframe isn't being kept in mind. There has to be a dead zone in Gargoyle/Human interaction/relationship. The Nagasaki clan and the Paris clan are both intrusions into this deadzone period.

Having the Nagasaki clan around so far into the 20th century also makes the reaction of New Yorkers to the Manhattan clan seem so over the top and unreasonable. (And being a New Yorker, I'm a little jumpy on the subject - I didn't like the reaction the clan got in HUNTERS MOON 3 and THE JOURNEY but I understood it. With the way things stand now, that reaction seems like too much and makes New Yorkers seem like barbarian monsters who have no sense of tolerance for any different group compared with how the races were getting along just a few years before on the other side of the world.)

3. The final fate of the Nagasaki clan. I didn't mind at all that they died, it's just how exactly. They should have been atomized in the blast or at least shattered. They aren't really stone after all but only a stone-like organic substance during the day. Why should they have any more protection from a blast wave than a human being would? In fact in stone form near ground zero, shouldn't they have been more vulnerable to being shattered?

But what was done, to say that they just had too much energy intake and it gave them all massive heart attacks, it didn't seem right to me. It jumped out at me as something that I can see making sense in some way but that was just wrong. It's more an emotional reaction than a logical one in that regard. It seems to me like that reaction to the bomb was come up with so that Brooklyn would have some Gargoyle bodies to stand over instead of just some unidentifiable ruins that might have maybe been Gargoyles to give him more of an emotional moment.

4. Brooklyn and Payne going into Nagasaki. Brooklyn's stone sleep would help him along the line since both he and Payne must have picked up a major radiation dose. But Payne should be either sick in the next episode or recovering from some degree of radiation sickness. You can't just go near ground zero of an atomic blast and come out without any damage. Yet somehow I feel that the next time we see them there won't be any physical damage that Payne has to deal with due to Brooklyn's reaction at the end of this episode. It would make their relationship much more interesting if Payne were to suffer from radiation because Brooklyn had to go into Nagasaki. I would love to see how they would react to each other in that situation.

5. All those Gargoyle bodies are just lying around Nagasaki and nobody in history mentioned them? They just got skipped over in the clean-up? It seems like a big plot hole that wants to be glossed over by the emotion that Brooklyn gives off in the moment but drifts back to mind when you really think about it.

All in all, I loved the emotion. I felt that Brooklyn was dead on in how he sounded and acted and I enjoy the re-introduction of Payne. But there are other points that really jump out at me and take away from my enjoyment of the episode. I consider this episode to be a hundred times better than the first two episodes of this season but not as good as the last two episodes that we've had.

**TD SPOILERS RELATED**
Before knowledge of this episode, one would wonder if Brooklyn (when he becomes leader of the clan) could knowingly lead his clan into a trap and do nothing to stop it. After this episode, Brooklyn will have to re-evaluate his job as time-dancer. He can't protect people all the time, but his job is to protect HISTORY. But will he learn that lesson from this episode?

**enters and checks the feedback on the ep**

Thank ye everyone. I'm certainly glad that it hit with the kind of impact I hoped for when I initially came up with the idea ... but the credit equally belongs to Entity (who refined a loose outline into something more refined) and Aerie (who was the true genius behind the Nagasaki clan).

Now ... let's try to reply to the concerns about the ep here ...

Ending being predictable: Well ... this is one of those things you can't really change. The atomic bombs were just as much a force in shaping Japanese modern culture as the Shoguns and the feudal times were, so Brook couldn't exactly change history and stop the bomb from dropping. As to his reasoning for letting the clan die, well ... that's for another time.

Effects of the bomb: Parts of buildings *did* survive the bombings ... matter of fact, those sites closest to ground zero in the drop zones are now considered shrines in modern-day Japan, and still bear the scars of people flash-impacting. (And the two cities do still have people living in them ... matter of fact, Hiroshima happens to have a baseball team in the Japanese major leagues) We considered every possible after-effect of the bombs, and finally settled on the "super-charging" theory ... much like what happens when you overcharge a battery for far too long (after a while it explodes).

Folks who like the title: Hey ... I came up with the title. Since it seems sometimes like I'm the unofficial "Mr. Death-And-Destruction" of the fic writing community, did ye expect something less? ;)

DPH hit it on the head with his comment ... this is a situation where Brooklyn knows what's going to happen and is powerless to do anything about it, because it's unfortunately the right thing to do.

Nagasaki clan being isolationist: It's certainly possible, consider Caledonia. Actually, the way I would see it is the other way around ... if you notice, in "Bushido," the residents of Ishimura are very keen about keeping the secret of the gargoyle clan in the temple. Perhaps rather than the Nagasaki clan being isolationist, it's the other way around (Ishimura is the isolationist). Or perhaps it was both. However, circumstances have sadly made that point moot.

Brooklyn's prior knowledge: Well ... that's a story for another time, isn't it? :)

XenaTrek, re: ILOVEYOU: Shortly after ya warned me, I got a message from my ISP about it, and that their e-mail buffer is deleting *anything* that matches pattern.
I'll talk to ya later, though. :)

Okay ... that's enough for me for now ... I'm winded. ;)

One week til finals and counting. :)

Doug> <<Two of my five classes are over now, I had the finals yesterday and today and have put them behind me,
with an A and probable B. :) >> That's great! Hope the next three finals go well for you. I won't be at A-Kon myself, but I hope you and Kit manage to go this summer. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Myself, I've declared a moratorium on fanfic til after final exams, since I've got final papers out the wazoo. I am actually considering taking all three of my finals (which are self-scheduled) on Thursday and getting them done with so I have time to pack up all my junk.

Timedancer> First time I'd read the final draft of "I Am Become Death." My response: Do we HAVE to go after that? It was really good, and it makes me worry since next week's ep, penned by Ordell and myself, has to come after such an emotional episode... well, we'll see. :)

The ILove You virus> The IT department here sent out a campus-wide alert about it. We haven't been hit, but I'm being cautious nonetheless.

Other Stuff> If any of you watch the news and see a report about the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day walk tomorrow, you might want to take a look - because you'll probably get a glimpse of the campus that was insane enough to admit me. Yep, the huge event is kicking off tomorrow morning in the Hood College quad just below my window (which, IMO, is too small to accommodate all those people). I may or may not be in the crowd, but if I am, I'll be the weirdo wearing the feathered hat I bought at a RenFaire last year. It depends on whether or not I'm awake enough to stumble down there, since the hole thing kicks off at 7 am. Hmmm. In that case, I probably won't be in the crowd. :)

****** TGS SPOILERS ******

Congratulations to Coyote and the rest of the staff for another great story. You guys just don't stop, do you? :) While the ending was certainly predictable, it really had to be; from the moment we knew Brooklyn was in Nagasaki, the ending was a forgone conclusion. Getting to know the clan and the humans there was a little like it is in Dark Ages. You know they're going to die, so it becomes more poignant. I do have one minor nit: I find it hard to believe that Brooklyn didn't know that Nagasaki was also bombed. It would be difficult to find someone, especially in the US or Japan, who didn't know this and Brooklyn must have been exposed to that info at some time. Of course, the whole premise of the story would have been ruined if he HAD known. Oh, well. I did find Payne's inclusion to be surprising and welcome. It's going to be interesting to see how they handle travelling together. :)

**spoilers yet again...last time, i hope***

i realize that it's only Thursday, but something keeeps bugging me...

given the sheer _length_ of gargoyle lifespans, shouldn't somebody in late-20th_Century {or later} Japan {like Ishimura} have remembered about one or two clans vanishing in the bombing?

i can suspend my disbelief for that, and think that maybe Nagasaki Clan was isolationist, and kept to their own city and humans.....but that they didn't know of other clans? how long have they been isolated in that city, with no gargoyle travelers from other parts of hte land?

{{"why yes, brooklyn, the most recent visitor to our clan - apart from you - was twenty generations ago. why do you ask?"}}.

**RP HERE**

The screen comes on to show the Ravens finishing up their loading of the Onslaught, which is now attached to the salvaged enemy tank from their last battle by a tow chain. Stephanie's car is parked alongside it, also being loaded. So are Jammer's station wagon and the Road Moccasin. Kit stands near the truck cab talking to Bardic and Lloky. "So in summary," she is saying, "we have many things we need to do. I guess you two can come with us to handle them if you want, but you probably have some other assignment Mecord gave you." "Indeed we do," Bardic nods. "He told us to find a base for his Thieves Guild to place an embassy in here on Earth. Do you know of anything suitable?" Kit thinks for a moment. "Unfortunately, no. But there are several military bases in this country once used by Thailog's forces that we cleaned out. Wilek has since had his forces occupy what's left of them. I think one of them, Area 51, is on the way to Santa Fe, which is where most of us are headed next. You could come with us and we could drop you off there. I don't think Wilek is using the entire base, and if he is, its computers can probably point you to some other suitable location." Bardic frowns, then nods. "Alright," he says. "If you think that is suitable." "Well, you'll have to forgive me," Kit tells him. "I don't know much about what your organization requires, nor do my friends. This is probably the best help we can give." "In that case," Lloky says, "it should be enough. Right, Bardic?" The other dragon nods. "Indeed." "Good," Kit grins. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go check on Doug." She then turns and leaves the dragons, walking back towards her motel room and stopping only to nod solemnly at Jaden's grave on the way. Inside the room, Doug watches through the window and sees the action. Again he tries to remember who Jaden was, and why he feels such a mixture of confusion, anger, gratefulness, and regret whenever he thinks of the name. "What's the matter?" Kit asks as she comes upon him and he tells her, ending with, "We better get my memory back soon. This is driving me crazy." "We will," Kit replies, giving him a hug. "Have faith." Doug nods and tries to as the screen's image fades.

**END RP FIRST HALF**

Hello everyone. Good news. Two of my five classes are over now, I had the finals yesterday and today and have put them behind me, with an A and probable B. :) Still three finals ahead, one of which is a big paper I have to work on this weekend, but I'm still very glad to have some of my worries past me. :) This of course gives me time to do posts and write fanfic, which I'm doing today. Starting with the post, which you're reading now. <grin>

Fanfic Progress: Night of the Symbiotes Part 2 is moving along slowly due to the stresses of finals and all the other things that go with the end of the semester. I'm four scenes and about twenty pages into it, much more ahead. Next time I sit down, I will begin the first major fight which the Manhattan clan is involved in this story (there will be at least five for them, and some other fights as well involving other heroes of my ficverse). Planning on heavy exciting action, as always mixed in with good character interaction and development, progress in some of the saga's ongoing subplots, bad guys getting what they deserve, and other cool stuff. <grin> Still not sure when I'll have it all done, hopefully before the fourth of July (maybe sooner, but time constraints such as school, work, and other stuff don't make it look good right now :( .

A-Kon This Year: Glad that some of you have expressed happiness over the possibility of seeing me and Kit at this RPG event in Dallas coming up the first week of June. I have also noticed, though, that some of you seem to think we are going to be there no matter what. I hate to spoil your good thoughts, but right now that's unfortunately not true. :( We are strongly leaning towards going, but money, time, transportation, and a dozen other things may conspire to prevent it unfortunately. If we do go, we of course look forward to meeting all of you who are also going, and enjoying the event too. :) It's just that we may not be able to come, so please, don't get your hopes up. (Sorry this has to be said.) Kit and I really hope we do get to come, don't worry, we do want to meet you all, it's just that it might not be possible. I'm sure you understand. <sigh> One other thing related to this- If we do come, Aaron, it won't be in our Team Rocket outfits. Those were rentals and we had to give them back to the store once we were done with them. Besides, Kit and I like to wear different costumes for every occasion that we feel requires them. We're not sure yet if we think that A-Kon does, so we don't even know if we'll be coming in costume if we go. If we do, the costumes we're currently strongly considering are Broadway and Angela (to promote Gargoyles) or our AD&D campaign characters Arnold Boman the were-bear ranger and Lady Joy Rusten, Priestess of Sune (it is an AD&D convention after all, so our characters would be appropriate :). Other possibilites may exist too, but we haven't thought about them yet. We may not even come in costume, as costumes can be pretty expensive. <sigh> And we may not even be coming either, as you know (hope to, but…:(

Diablo: Never got into this game myself, but I have been reading over the AD&D adaptation of it recently and it looks like a very entertaining game. Maybe I'll get into it someday. Just wish they hadn't succumbed to all the negative press about gargs.

Entity: <nods> 10/10s from me are indeed very rare. I only give them to stories that deserve them. Thought of the Heart was one such tale (it might have ranked higher too, if it had had pictures :).

Kyryn: Sorry to hear you have ovarian cysts. Hope that they can be removed without problems and you soon get better. I'll be praying for you. :) Hope to see you at A-Kon too, if Kit and I go (we want to, but like I said above, it's unclear if we will.)

Jannie: <grimaces> Good luck with your operation as well. It sounds painful. :(

Highlander Fans: <There may have been some immortals before Methos who perished> Methos could also have been a soldier or some other profession that would train him in swordplay before becoming immortal and then improved his skill with practice over the centuries. That's what happened in my fanfic, maybe in the Highlander-verse too. <shrugs>

Welcome back to Green Baron and Reverend Atilla! <observes moment of silence for Cardinal John O'Connor, a very good if often too controversial and domineering man> I too mourn the guy's death, and I may have to write something about it and/or him sooner or later in my fanfiction (maybe in the story after Night of the Symbiotes). Cardinal O'Connor's opinions often bothered me, but he was a lawful good person in the truest sense of the phrase. <sighs, observes another moment of silence, then turns on some of what O'Connor called "the devil's rock music" and moves on to his next reply>

Shadowrider: I too enjoyed Dario Argento's Deep Red and Opera. They were quite scary, and their excellent plots and developed characters made them more so. Hope to rent and see more of Argento's movies soon, I think if I watch them enough I just may be inspired a bit. :) (If you're wondering, it will probably be for the fanfic that comes after Night of the Symbiotes, a dark piece dealing with the rebuilding of Manhattan in the wake of the robot army's attack; the clan's continuing to come to terms with the losses incurred in it; and the beginnings of Father Greene's dealings with a frighteningly conservative new archbishop who may get Cardinal O'Connor's place in the local Catholic hierarchy (O'Connor will die sooner in my stories than he does in real life); as well as Charlie and Max/Greenhead's exploration of the nature of vampires in the face of a powerful new vampire lord who appears amidst the gangs of the city and begins to convert them to his dark undead-Aryan ideals, then prepares to launch a daring and brutal series of attacks on the city fueled by his demonic madness. It may be a two-parter as well, I'm not sure yet. I do know, though, that the probable title is "Plague.") Hope you've gotten the chance to read Night of the Symbiotes Part 1 by now, if not hope you do get it soon. I look forward to your feedback and anyone else's as I work on Part 2.

**SPOILERS FOR MANY THINGS AHEAD**

Buffy This Week: Excellent episode. Oz's return was very well-scripted in terms of how it affected everyone, and so was the subplot with Buffy, Riley, and the Initiave's jerk of a new leader (who by the way has some good villain potential, hope he gets at least a little more development before the season ends). The Spike and Adam interaction was good too, as were the Anya and Giles scenes. The Willow and Tara stuff made me sigh in exasperation more often than not (I agree with SJ on this, them getting together was supposed to happen and very well-written and -developed, but I still really miss her being with Oz). Good development on Oz himself too, I was sorry we had to see him go. At least he was a good and interesting character while he was around. :) All in all, good ep this week, I give it a 9/10 (would have been an 8, but there was a lot of entertaining cool stuff like the new Initiave leader and Spike getting together with Adam as well as Riley and Buffy development in addition to the good but slightly disturbing in resolution Willow-Tara-Oz conflict :).

Angel This Week: Yeah, it got pre-empted for a Spurs game, but Kit and I still got to see it later that night. :) How, you ask? Well, Gubio, aka The Man, rigged up his satellite dish and a computer program, and I don't know how, but somehow he managed to pick up the Kansas City WB affiliate, which didn't pre-empt Angel. :) He recorded it, brought the tape over here late Tuesday night, and we watched. And the ep was good. No, check that, it wasn't just good, it was the best Angel ep I've seen all season. Good character development on Buffy, Faith, and Angel (especially when paired with the great dialogue), as well as on Kate and especially Wesley (I think after this episode I can finally get to like having him on the show, his severing ties with the Council and his developments were very interesting and well-written. I still miss Doyle, but now I can finally accept Wesley in his place. :). Good plot too, with a very well-written ending. Hope we see Faith again someday, she's a very interesting character who should not be forgotten. Also looking forward to next week's episode with Angel vs. Riley a lot. <grin> 9/10 overall, one star off for the lack of resolution on the anger between Buffy and Angel (but then again they'll probably work on that next week, so maybe a 10 is warranted, I don't know), only thing I didn't like was the lack of development on Cordelia, but then there was a bit too much else going on.

Timedancer This Week: First thing I have to say about I am Become Death- I love the title. :) Second thing I have to say about I am Become Death- I also enjoyed the story. Good writing, excellently drawn and emotion-filled pics (though we should have gotten one of Payne IMO), and great character developments. The interaction between Payne and Brooklyn was entertaining and intriguing and I look forward to more of the same this season (after this story I'm sure it's ahead) as well as developments on them both. Also enjoyed seeing the Nagasaki clan, though I think they and Brooklyn's interaction with them could have used a bit more development. What we got though was very good, as well as tragic and emotional. The ending to the story was very sad, too. I can't help but wonder if anyone besides Brooklyn and Payne knows the Nagasaki gargoyle clan was there. :( All in all, good job on this ep. I did spot a few plot holes (like how the Gate transported Brooklyn and Payne during daytime when it was supposedly stone…or was it?) and spots that could have used more development, but it was still a very good story. I give it an 8.9/10, thumbs up.

And finally, a short review of the film Gladiator: Caught this at a sneak preview last night with Kit. Pretty good story. It had a well-developed hero and heroine who you had to try to sympathize with in order to understand, which was good. Excellent cinematography, action, and historical allusions too, and good acting. However two things made the movie less enjoyable- first, the plot had a lot of holes in it (how did Maximus get from his farm to North Africa?, why didn't the Emperor poison him and just say he got sick and died (that would have been smarter than the things he did do), and some other things). The plot was also a bit too predictable. The second thing was the villain. They did a good job making him out as a true rat bastard who deserved what he got, but they could have done it differently and made him as well as the heroine much more understandable and palatable. When you see the movie, you'll know what I mean. This film was good, though if you want better action-packed character-driven epics I recommend Prince of Thieves, Braveheart, or even The Postman (Believe it or not, I actually liked that movie). 6/10, sideways thumb. Too bad this is the only interesting-looking film to come out this weekend.

**SPOILERS OVER, BACK TO REPLIES**

Green Baron again: An A-Team crossover? That might be interesting to do, but I unfortunately never watched A-Team. :( Therefore, I wouldn't be able to write it as well as other people. Hope someone else out there takes up the challenge and does it well. :)

Xenatrek: Thanks for the ILOVEYOU virus warning. I will watch for and beware it. Hope they soon find a program cure.

<scans CR again> And that appears to be all I had to talk about. Pity the room has been so slow this week, especially last night. Wonder what happened. Oh well, I'm sure finals have something to do with why a lot of us haven't been coming in here. Hope they ease up soon and we all pass. I'll be working on them more myself this weekend and next week. <sigh> See y'all later.

**RESUME RP NOW**

The screen comes back on, showing the Ravens all getting into their vehicles and preparing to finally depart Los Angeles. Boris is getting into the tank to drive it, while Elena will pilot the truck behind him with most of the Ravens inside and Stephanie and Kit flanking in their car and motorcycle. (Bardic, Lloky, and the prisoners are all traveling in the Onslaught's trailer, if anyone's wondering, along with Doug, Keith, Tricia, Lathrop, Orion, and Tom.) "You know what you're doing, right?" Kit is asking Jammer as he, Shap, Shauna, Gubio, and Erin get into the station wagon, Gubio holding a kitty carrier that contains a very-annoyed looking Mist. "Yeah, I know," Jammer rolls his eyes. "I get these people to the airport to go to their destinations, then catch up with you guys. And if I encounter anything crazy on the way, I ask questions before shooting." "Right," Kit nods. "Shap, you'll watch him the first part of the way?" The paladin nods. "I will." "Sorry about this, Jammer," Kit says. "You just got a little brutal in the last battle. I'm worried about you keeping your cool." "I know," Jammer makes a scything motion. "Just don't worry about me, okay? And tell Tricia not to be so paranoid." "How did you know she put me up to this?" Kit frowns, and Jammer grins. "Lucky guess. I'll see you guys again shortly." He turns back to those who will be going with him. "Alright everyone, all aboard the Jammer express heading nonstop to planes going to Atlanta, Georgia and Istanbul, Turkey, departing soon!" Gubio smiles and turns to Kit. "We'll be back soon with the flower, wait for us in Minnesota." Kit nods. "I will. Good luck." "Same to you," Erin replies, and they get into the station wagon. "And we'll see you in Atlanta," Shauna tells Kit. "Right," she replies. "Be careful." "Yeah, we always are," Shap nods. "Later." "Later," Kit smiles, and then waves as the paladin and archer get into the station wagon and Jammer drives off.

The rest of the Ravens wave too, Doug looking slightly worried as he watches the departure from inside the truck trailer. "You okay?" Tom asks him, and he nods. "Good," the engineer says. "I care about Kit, and know she cares for you. Therefore I'd hate to have you be worried. Don't be, we're going to cure what ails you. Alright?" Doug nods. "Alright." He then goes to sit down. Tom watches him leave, then walks over and makes sure all the prisoners are secured. "They can't escape?" he asks Keith and Lathrop, who are watching them. "Not with the wizard lock on their cage," Lathrop says, pointing to the huge communal cage all the soldiers have been shoved in. All glare at him and look mostly POed. "Or at least it won't be easy," Keith cynically adds, causing some of them to smile. The ninja sighs and hands Tom a ring of keys. "Here, you take first watch on them." Tom nods. "Okay." He turns to the prisoners as Keith and Lathrop walk off. "You people okay in there?" "We're fine," Howell speaks for the group, sadness etched in his voice. "We don't know why you're keeping us though. We told you, there's no profit in it." "I know that," Tom nods, "but until we feel it's right to let you go…" "We know, we know," Mansfield interrupts. "And don't worry, we're not gonna try to escape." "Yeah," chuckles Sneed. "We don't need to anyway. I'm sure somebody is coming to free us. When they do, I'm going to have my revenge on all of you, especially that stupid cat." He glares at Tom, the mad look in his eyes heightened by the claw scars on his cheeks. "Looking forward to you trying," Tom replies with a return glare, then sits down next to the cage in a watchful position as the back doors of the truck are closed, the vehicle starts up, and the screen goes blank.

Aaron staggers in, looking about half dead.

Well, I finally beat Age of Wonders, and the ending(s) I've seen so far just seem the make the whole experience more Demona-esque.

And, at a loose end, I fired up Diablo for the first time since the great crash and had a ball. I'd forgotten how much fun dungeon crawling could be. I'd also forgotten that the last scavenger upgrades are called.... Shadowbeasts. Nasty little things, but no comparison to Christine's.

Gside><<Who needs to move when you can just surround yourself with flame waves and novas?>> Ah, the let's bring all the monsters running approach.

Warpmind> Ah, I see. You just named your trusty weapon. My apologies for thinking you a cheater.

Wilek> Actually, I've never played FF7, and it isn't a multiplayer game to my knowledge, so I have no problem with giving yourself and advantage against the CPU. It's just people who build Level 99 characters using an editor program, and then use them to stalk honest gamers I don't like.

Does anybody know if there's an archive site for the main CR, like there is for this one? Thanks.

Later.

Woo-hoo! I'm finally _in_!

E-mail virus: I'll second XenaTrek's post--the ILOVEYOU virus is a very nasty little worm, so don't open any forwards with that subject heading. There's speculation that it's related to that "It takes guts to say Jesus" virus that circulated during the fall.

Moment of silence for John O'Conner and the 30th anniversary of the Kent State shootings...

...

Madame Destine: Oooh...a _few_ stories? I guess I know where my next stop will be! };)

Timedancer ep: No spoilers...but, dang, was that an awesome piece of writing! The illustrations were just the icing on a very good piece of cake!

Jannie: Much luck with your doctor's appointment! It's always best to keep it in good humour :)

All right...back to work on my fic editing. See you later!

"Do you have a middle initial?" asked Jason.

"No," replied DPH.

"What is your age on April 1 and date of birth?" asked Mr. Filler.

"23. 2-2-1977" replied DPH.

"Are you Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, or of another Hispanic or Latino group?" asked Jason.

"No," replied DPH.

"Now choose one or more races for yourself. Which race or races do you consider yourself to be?" asked Mr. Filler.

"American," replied DPH.

"What is your marital status?" asked Jason.

"Never married." replied DPH.

<Peeks in for a moment>

Diablo:> (I forgot to post it last time) I don't play Diablo since a few months. Great game, anyway. My preferred character...the Warrior, followed in close distance by the Rogue, while I have no partucular feeling for the Sorcerer.
I'm eagerly waiting for Diablo II, this long wait is cruel.

Kyryn:> I'm very happy to know that you have nothing really bad and that you're going to heal without too much complications. I send you my best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.

***TIMEDANCER SPOILER***

"I am become death" is a very good title. About the story itself...well, quite good, though not as good as some others this season. Of course, as I realized the time and place, I figured out what was going to happen in the end, easy. It is good to see again Dr. Payne, I'm curious to know how he and Brooklyn will deal with each other in the next Dances (I'm sure Payne is NOT Brooklyn's first choice for a travelling companion...). Flaws? Well, the story seemed to me a bit...confused, sometimes seems that nothing is really happening as I read, and the Nagasaki clan remains a background element. Anyway, probably this is a matter of taste. Good story, anyway, a 7/10 as far as I'm concerned.

***END SPOILER***

Gside:> Building a black hole? I tried with a friend of mine a few weeks ago...but we greatly undervalued the energy amount needed. No bad consequences, just a 4-hours blackout in the whole urban area...;)

hush, muse.

well, i remember reading about how - at Nagasaki and Hiroshima - the stone/(concrete) buildings survived the blast, even having siloettes of the people there...in a lot of cases, the siloettes were the only remains of people. {though the scene with warped gargoyles was [more] reminisant of the X-Files ep with teh Fluke from Chernobyl}.

Fire Storm> << it has been about a year since I saw [SC toys]>>: Understood, but since they are just a tad over a bed length from my computer, I thought I should set the record straight.
<<a black hole... COULD go the speed of light, correct>>: Not quite, because of relativity, you would also have to accelerate the real matter to c, requiring an infinite force, which is impossible.
Johnny: Seems to be original, I only also heard it under the title "The Ants Go Marching (1x1)." See http://users.erols.com/kfraser/gilmore2.html

Warpmind> <<sexist attitudes>>: I've said it before, I need a woman. Chances are, once I get one, that'll go away.
<<bad grammar>>: What can I say, I'm an engineer. Anyway, I got a little tied up in the parenthetical statement and forgot to end the main thought, so let's try that again: "Of course you default to the masculine in mixed gender groups,
but what about when you are referring to an individual or group of females?"

Cali`ope> <<you never cease to baffle me>>: Just what is so baffling about that? Have you never heard "Many happy returns" before? I assure you it is quite standard over here. Oh, and thank you for the compliment

DPH> font problems: If it's consisant with the leters, I'd suggest reinstalling the fonts.
<<email the files I would need>>: Which fonts are corrupted?

Revel> <<Gland to hear it>>: There's a bio joke in there somewhere.

Winterwolf> <<I think I'll have to keep all felines away from you>>: Probably a generally good idea. But a Fat Cat is essentially the official food of Rutgers. You see, here we have somethning called Grease Trucks. One of the things they frequently do is look around for whatever they have lying around, fry it, put it in a bun with french fries, and name it Fat * (an incomplete list to date: *= Cat, Koko, Sam, Moon, Mom, Sal, Elvis, Sun, !@#$%, !@#$%^&, Mofo, Doughboy, !@@,...), with Fat Cat being the original. Some common ingredients are cheeseburgers, philly steak, chicken fingers, mozzerella sticks, and the list goes on.
Planets: I tend to take a perverse pleasure from being obtuse. That, and it may encourage research. Anyway: War=Mars(b), Peace=Venus(A), Messenger=Mercury(L), Jollity=Jupiter(B), Old Age=Saturn(H), Magician=Uranus(D), Mystic=Neptune(G).

Now, for something totally different:
I've been thinking about my fanfic series.

(What, he has a fanfic series??)
YES, I have a fanfic series. It's just not very long at the moment...

Anyway, what I've decided is that when I get the novel finished for Sabledrake, I'll re-start the series from episode 1, reposting the original stories after I fix some errors and so forth, and adding a couple of new ones. Then I have rough plans for 3 seasons (15 - 20 episodes each) and maybe some specials. The first season is almost totally plotted now. (It gives me something to do during lunch at work). I think I'll give myself a 6 week deadline on episodes, with breaks between seasons and/or for life emergencies. The big challenge is that I'm trying to plot the whole story in advance, then write episodes to fill in the plot.

Oh well, that's enough for now. See ya'll later.

Aaron staggers in, dragging a huge piece of bubble wrap, which he appears to be popping one bubble at a time.

This? I have to do something to keep calm, or I'm going to start screaming and breaking things.

SOROW> I dunno, I just couldn't figure out why Scream 3 would be rereleased if there wasn't something new added.

Kit> You and Doug are trying to make A-kon? Kewl. Are you going to bring your Team Rocket costumes? I'm thinking about going as Kagi from Evangelion, which wouldn't take much effort.

Gside> Ah, Sorcerers. My favorite kind of targets. (Slow moving)

Warpmind> Well, the glitch didn't kill my characters. It just dumped all my character's gear. I still had all my experience, magic, and whatnot. I just acted like every six months I got in a tavern brawl and lost all my gear. So I'd have to go to the catacombs and kill things barehanded until I could get some more gear. Yes, the Windforce was a unique weapon, one of the better ones. I'm quite partial to the Needler too. My mission in life is to use every unique item and kill every unique monster listed in the strategy guide. (I'll never really know if I got them all since I've found some stuff that *wasn't* listed in the guide) And you used a cheat program to make a dream weapon? Shame on you.

Kyryn> Hope the doctor's appointment goes well. Good luck.

Later.

Hi everybody! I guess the server is still down. :(

DPH> It looks good! Are you putting in the vision piece that happened? Or did I just miss that somehow?

Blindside> I see Mecord already checked you in. Welcome to the CR! Or if you've posted before Welcome back! ^_^

SOROW> You don't have to apologize. Of course I'm just happy to hear that the stress is over. ^_^ < I was actually really surprised that I got it because those kinds of awards are decided by popularity.> Well I think you deserved to win "Best Attitude". You are exceptionally nice. ^_^

Gside> < The more you run over a dead cat, the flatter it gets. >< I prefer my Fat Cats with two cheeseburgers, fries, ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.> I think I'll have to keep all felines away from you. <seven planets (Earth doesn't count and he didn't know about Pluto), seven
(humanoid, original) gargoyles> Just for total clarification could you post which planet is which. I think I've got it but I want to be sure. ;)

Coyote the Bando> < this week's episode is going to be particularly special for me, since it'll be the first I had a hand in plotting. Please ... be not gentle. Rip me to shreds!> Hey I'll only give you want you deserve. If you deserve to be praised then that's what I'll do. ^_^ <MASOCHIST> I will say what took you so long? You lazy bum! *Winterwolf pops in on Coyote and slugs him on the shoulder.* ;)

Diablo> I haven't touched this game in ages. When I played as the fighter my friend kept 'accidentally' pegging me with arrows in the character's back. It was my first and least favorite characters. The second character I got going was a rogue. That's a good well-rounded character. The third character was a sorcerer. I bet you didn't see that one coming. This character was tough to play until I got my hands on the mana shield spell. That made some of the difficulty subside. There was a money issue with all the full mana potions I had to buy.

Diablo II> When this finally comes out who wants to form a team to beat on the monsters? There is the totally insane option of having only one life. That means if the character dies then it is lost permanently. It is called hardcore mode. It is not for the faint of heart. IMHO that would make the game that much sweeter if you build a powerful character. There are more characters to play also. The list includes Barbarian, Paladin, Amazon, Sorceress and Necromancer. If you want to read up on it check out http://www.gamespot.com/diablo2.html

Fire Storm> <Why am I pretty sure that I do not want to know?> After you say something like that it just encourages me to tell you the reasoning behind it. Fans sent the WB Tabasco sauce along with the letters of support for Roswell for the following two reasons.
1. It was seen regularly on the shows early episodes. It is a good tie in to the show. The aliens love to mix tastes and Tabasco sauce is usually in the mix.
2. Tabasco sauce is hot (spicy) and the fans wanted to send the message that Roswell is a hot show and worth keeping on the WB.
Maybe as a gargoyle fan I should have sent a jalapeno to Disney along with the letter that Gargoyles is the best-animated show ever.

Warpmind> <a triple espresso over a bowl of coco puffs, and I'm Road Runner on steroids...> Should Coyote the Bando be worried? ;)

Kyryn> Good to know it will be back up tonight. <Health news> *Winterwolf crosses his paws for you!*

******BEGIN RP - BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA******

Winterwolf saw a diner on the side of the road and walked inside. It looked like a nice enough place.
He chatted with waitress and asked if there he could get some wheels. She told him that she had a brother who was a mechanic and he had a motorcycle that he was trying to sell. Winterwolf had a good meal and with a full stomach he set off to the repair shop she mentioned.

He went to the shop but the sign on the door proclaimed the shop was closed. A smaller note was attached just to the side. Gone fishing be back tomorrow. In case of an emergency call … Winterwolf decided he had time to explore the town he was in.

Revel> There are gargoyle playing cards? I'm going to have to add that to my list of stuff I missed but would get if I could. <I've a hundred worse stories than that> Yeah, I have a bunch of stories myself. <Soaked> Did you sing in the rain? ;)

*Walks in dripping wet and shakes head like a dog. Everyone gives dirty looks*
Eh, Sorry. Yeah there's nothing more fun than walking from one end of a campus to the other all day long as a Texas sized down pour makes my hair stick flat to my head.
Eh, could be worse, (knock on wood)
Mecord-Sorry that even a box of trading cards a deck of playing cards and a Brooklyn toy out do you.
Winterwolf-If you think a flying Millenium Falcon is bad I've a hundred worse stories than that, of course I'm shure everyone does. I guess we had a FEW emotional problems when we were younger.(spares a glance at the drawings on the walls) Some of us still do.
Warpmind-Gland to hear it, but I just finished the notebook paper version last night so it will be a eternity before it is ever typed. Although I would happy to recite the scene:
Background info: The twenty-two boys of the the project Super Soldier had just been yanked out of their beds at five in the morning and were loaded on two transport helicopters. They were thrown out into the ocean just off a small island off the coast of North Carolina. Date: July 12, 2083. The boys who are between the ages of 13-18 finally quit fighting amongst themselves and begin to search for the crates that had been droped somewhere within the foliage.
Cain wiped his dirty hands off on his dull grey pants and collected his thoughts, "You know I've been thinking."
"Whoa, stand back everyone his head might explode." said Revel playfully. Cain smirked before continuing, "Seriously," his tone mellow, "I've been thinking about where we are. Have you ever heard of Island C?" Revel paused tapping his chin, Nope."
"Well anyhow a buddy of mine who calls himself Warpmind prints an illegal online consiracy theory magazine. He researches black projects, inner governments, and cover ups. $hit like that."
"So?"
"So Island C is supposidly a secret purchase made recently by the U.S.N.S.A. to train what are called Super Soldiers."

*End* I would reveal more but I do hope to someday have it and the others published someday. I jsut thought you would like to know.

That's it for now.

Hmm. Good points about Gargoyle universe.

Every proof I've had than 1=0 has had some logical flaw in it. My latest idea quest is this if a^4=b^2, then does the abolute value of a^2 = the absolute value of b.

Hmm. If anyone has an idea on how to help me, email the files I would need.

BTW, thanks for the compliments on 'A Thought of the Heart' I wrote a couple of good sized chunks of that story and I'm glad to see the positive response.

Guys, I'm having a trouble with my browsers (Internet Explorer and Netscape). I get blocks in place of certain other letters which makes reading the content at times all but impossible. The only thing I have done is delete all my *.tmp files from my computers in an attempt to clean up more space. If anyone could email the solution to my problem, I would be gratifull. I can't read the comment room at home. I am using Win95, if that matters.

NO BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA on my computer at home until I get this problem fixed.

Area 51!!

Do I have a story to tell you all about this- and yes, it's true.

I have a childhood friend who is in the navy, and a piolet- okay, bad spelling. At any rate, he said that area 51 is forbidden for any of the armed forces, and civilian planes to fly over. It looks like a square, basically. Well, a friend of his was involved in doing a wargames manuver and clipped over the corner of the Area 51 square. When he was in his debriefing with the rest of his squadren in a classroom at the base, and two guys dressed in black, walked in and demanded to see the offending piolet. Apparently they had the authority to pull anyone they choose. Anyway, they grilled him for about three hours asking him what he saw, why did he fly over there, ect. ect. Now granted, most of this was done to make an example of the poor guy- so no one else would fly over this restricted area. But it was kinda spooky to hear about how touchy the military is about it- even now-- true story...

I don't know what is out there, and I don't think anyone really does as it is so hush, hush. It is probally where they experement with the latest technology, most likely.

Which brings me to another point-- I came across a book in the libeary that I started reading for Mars 2158 research. The beginning of it was very interesting, as it gave military reports for various unexplained phenomon and Roswell was included. Needless to say it was very interesting, and I found it much more creditable than all the alien abduction/probing stories.

BTW a clan brother of mine put up a link for photos of area 51- I'll put it up here.

Buffy- didn't watch it-- I'm not a fan of the show, but the spoilers make me wish I had actually seen it.

DANIEL - Actually, many series that get crossed over with "Gargoyles" contain elements in them that don't make them entirely compatible with the Gargoyles Universe. I posted once about this in the other comment room about the very different nature of the Gargoyles Universe and the Batman Universe, for example, and yet there've been fanfic crossovers written between these two series.

AREA 51 - Actually, I will admit (and this is serious, not joking) that I've never really taken too seriously the notion that the U.S. Government is deliberately covering up evidence of UFOs and aliens. For one thing, what do the feds get out of it? No practical benefit, as far as I can see (if they were really getting hold of advanced extra-terrestrial technology, we'd have seen evidence of it by now in things such as the space program), and I find it difficult to believe that they'd go to all of this trouble just to annoy and frustrate UFO fans. My personal suspicion is that all that talk about government cover-ups originated with people who had made up stories about getting evidence that flying saucers really do exist and then had to come up with a quick plot device to explain the disappearance of the evidence. It sounds a little cynical, I know, but it's a much simpler means of explaining the lack of hard UFO evidence.

*Warpmind enters, followed by chibis Maggie, Talon and Benjamin.*
Hullo. These three wee ones here wanted to join whatever fun was on today...

Rodlox, James Birdsong: Dudes, there ARE no alien life forms at Area 51. Haven't you guys figured that much out yet? Area 51 is just a test site for experimental aircraft! The alien artifacts etc. are kept safely hidden away in a SECRET base. Area 51 is just for show, to keep the civvies away from what is REALLY going on. :)

Rodlox: The difference between a muse and a chibi? Hmmm... the cute factor, the size proportions, and the fact that the muses generally are some drop-dead gorgeous women, while chibis can be of any species, gender and age? *Pales at the sudden fierce look in chibi-Maggie's eyes.* No, Maggie, I didn't mean that you're not dr...*ZZZZZZZZAPP!* Urrrrk...

Revel: Unset me? My dear, there is *no* such thing as bad PR. ;) Oh, but *do* let me see that story when it's done. :)

Aaron: Dude, you have trouble with crashes killing off your character? That's weird... And where the <Censored> did you get the Windforce? I've never even SEEN it! (Of course, it sounds like a unique item, so...) Anyway, I guess I'll be happy still with my Long War Bow, +14 to all, +35% resist all... (I used a cheat program and calleds it "Happiness".) Add to that the fact that I'm a frequent user of Oil of Sharpening... ]:)

Shadowrider: Hey, I've yet to wear a name that does not in one way or another fit me. :)

Gside: My engineering friend, Illuminati is plural, Illuminatus is singular. And should you dare to suggest such a comment about our female members, you can be quite sure that you would be charged with sexist attitudes and bad grammar. ;)

Gside: Ah, the Sorcerer, possibly the strongest character in the game, when at max level, and with 8 Full Mana potions and a Mana shield... just make sure you keep enough mana to get the <Censored> out of the dungeouns by means of Town Portal when the <Censored> hits the fan... (When the going gets tough, the tough get going... indeed, they get going outta there!)

Mecord: Okay, for a more complex game, try ADOM. Sure, it's ASCII, but it's far more complex that Diablo; more races to choose from, a *lot* more classes, a multitude of skills, a pile of different weapons and bits of equipment, and so forth, and so on...

Well, that's about it for now... cheerio, guys. *Yawns* Gee, maybe I should have some caffeine or something... a triple espresso over a bowl of coco puffs, and I'm Road Runner on steroids... :)

Well, it has been about a year since I saw them.
<speed of light=infinite mass=black hole>
So, in theory, a black hole (Or singularity to be a little more accurate), COULD go the speed of light, correct?
<how to build a black hole with magnets and poplscle sticks>
Easy! Tape some popsicle sticks to a magnet, throw in a accelerator, set to 1 C and let travel for 30 minutes! :)

Gside: Hey, I have a classical music question for you: What is the song that is commonly known as "When Jhonny Comes Marching Home"
In MANY films I have seen it is basicailly the Nazi theme song.

Graymonk: <a native leader named Techunmseh>
Ahh... so THAT is where we get Techunmseh! (A couple area things are named after him)

SJ: <Here you go--no ABC in the largest markets in the country>
Pardon?
<but they ALL have to be done by Todd McFarlane>
Oh yeah. Could you just imagine how he would do a Power Armor Xanatos? Hmm....!
<You would like their Star Wars stuff, though>
Star Wars Vs. Terminator?
Star Wars Vs. Aliens?
Star Wars Vs. Predator?
:)
<Some major cool crap goes down tonight!!!>
Ahh... Sweeps Month! Gotta love it!
<I must express some discomfort over Willow and Tara's relationship>
But it is nice that they just left things to be infered, not directly shown.
<we get the fight all of us have been waiting for: ANGEL.....VS.......RILEY!!!!!!>
There can be only one!
(What will happen to Riley now that he isn't taking his "vitamins"?)

Brian: <Has anyone out there tried System Shock 2?>
DEFINATELY! (Should have seen the SS2 discussions that where here back in January!

Daniel Paul Hightower: <Wouldn't be the principles of 'Quantum Leap' defy the nature of the Gargoyles universe? In the Gargoyles universe, history is immutable; in the universe of Quantum Leap, history is 'improved'.>
My theory is this: When time travel is by means of magic, history is unchangeable
When time travel by means of technology, time IS changeable
When mixing both, anything is possible.
<BTW, I've tried hard to prove mathematically the following equation: 1=0 if I should succeed, does anyone realize the ramifications?>
Easy.
1. IF INPUT = 1, then 2
2. PRINT 0
So input 1 = 0

**Mec stumbles in bleary-eyed**

Been studying hard all night for a big all essay English final tomorrow. You know what? For an English major, I really hate writing. Well, writing essays anyway. I’m more of a story writer.

Rev. Attila>> Welcome back cat!!! :)

Revel>> At least you have a collection. The only gargoyle I have isn’t from the show. It’s nigh impossible to find any good toys in my little corner of the universe.

DPH>> Gargs and Quantum Leap: It could just be the nature of the phoenix gate that it cannot be used to change history. A scientific intrusion like the quantum leap may have no such provision. But I wonder what would happen if Sam Bekket leapt into the timedancer? Ah, the possibilities. :)

Blindside>> Welcome. Have you been here before? If so, sorry I missed you somewhere. If not…*pulls a vacuum type machine from behind his back* Just put your sanity down nice and slow and nobody will get hurt ;)

Diablo>> That’s the only game currently in running order on my computer. I’ve decided Rogue is combatant of choice, Warrior is a little harder, and I haven’t made it past level 5 with the Sorcerer yet so I can’t really say, except that he is currently being difficult. No offense to the Diablo fans, but I’m getting bored with it. This elf needs something new.

RP tomorrow probably.

Cross your fingers, wish me luck, and say a prayer, I really need to pass this final.

G’night all!

Random Diablo thoughts: There seem to be quite a few Rogues in here. Bow to the power of the Sorcerer (perhaps the most engineering of the classes). I really should get back and do some level building... (just got it this year and am only up to ~20 on one character, nothing on any others)

It is officially Wednesday, so it is time to finish Pictures at an Exhibition. I give you: Catacombs (Sepulchrum romanum), Con mortuis in lingua mortua, The Hut on Fowls' Legs (Baba Yaga), The Great Gate of Kiev. Great Gate is oh, so good. I heartily recommend it.

Na zdorov'ya.

Just got back from "Boys Don't Cry!" What can I say, it was everything I'd hoped for and more. I was getting worried that having been anticipating it for...*counts out on fingers*...7 months, that I would have been disappointed because I built my expectations too high. Not the case at all. :) The only slight mar on the experience was that about 30 minutes from the end, a dude in the theatre started crying and _did not stop_. It wasn't that he was just crying, though; I mean, it was kinda cool to see a guy unafraid to express himself...it was just that this was no ordinary crying. This was very, very loud Ultra-Bawling. At times, he drowned out the picture. Whew.

While on the subject of movies...I rented "Dogma" today, also. I'm about 60 minutes into it right now, and I'm loving it. What in the world was up with those protesters earlier in the year, anyhow? Thus far I have seen _nothing_ that should get people offended, besides cursing, which can be found in this amount in many, many movies. Oh, well, suppose I'll finish watching it first.

More "Top 10" > <<I especially found it quite hilarious that Gene Ha drew Fairchild and Red Monika as hookers.>> Yup, laughed my head off at that. There are so many cameos and little funny details in Ha's art. My favorite in the latest issue was Lola, from the film "Run, Lola, Run." :) All the characters are great, too. It's too dang hard to pick a favorite, because all of them--even the more minor ones, like Wolfspider, Janus, and Duane's mom--are priceless. :D
Favorite storylines? The Godz bar was great ("Let's celebrate! We can play that game where everyone throws things!" "Aye, the 'throwing things' game! It worketh for me!"), as was the test of Blindshot's powers, but I think the thing that cemented me as a Top 10 fan was Ernesto's dad coming to pick him up ("Hey, you cops! You listen up!...I've come for my boy!") ;)

SOROW: I want to meet you too. :) Hope very much that we can get together. Doug and I will probably be in the Dallas area for A-KON the first week of June, maybe we can work something out to get together then. Hope so. Glad you're also looking forward to it, and also congrats on getting over that stress (whatever caused it, it must have been bad. :( Thus it's very good that it's gone now :).

SJ: I liked Buffy tonight too, though the whole "Anarchists"-related subplot (you know what I'm talking about) made me clap and smile more than the excellent acting and great Oz and Spike developments. I'll say more about the episode when I'm not this tired, for now I'll just reaffirm that it was very good. I regret not getting to see Angel too, damn basketball game. **skips into the room** Ahh, I feel great ... two days off after an 11 hour shift will do that ... and this was only the first day. :)

XenaTrek: Hmmm ... I had no idea that guy was Tom Hanks' son.

Taleweaver: Well, let's see ... without using Trek, huh? Well ... I can do it at least with Shatner and Mulgrew ...
William Shatner made appearances on "The Twilight Zone," which was created by Rod Serling, who was a writer on "The Outer Limits," which had appearances made by Leonard Nimoy, who appeared in a "Columbo" movie ... and one of Kate Mulgrew's prior television roles was playing "Mrs. Columbo" (who was actually supposed to be the previously-unseen wife of Peter Falk's character).
Okay, it's cheatin' a little, but it still works.

Aaron: Oh, it gets better ... now he's gotta defend his title in a PPV main event. **chuckles** Was tellin' Mara-ko on the phone this evening that this stuff would be enough to make me defect to WWF, which made *her* quite happy. :)
As for my Diablo playing ... haven't done it in a while, but when I do I play the Rogue, and my typical conversation: Hmm, what's in here? AAH! Die, bastards, die! **thunkthunkthunk** **wham** Where the hell did *they* come from?!

Jessie Feff, re: Top 10: Yep, that was me, and I've been following it for the same amount of time you have. That's an *awesome* book, especially in the amount of obscure references they can cram into it ... for instance, I managed to identify what Smax's car is (it's a futurized version of the "Dale," a three-wheel concept vehicle that never got built because its gender-bending creator was put in federal prison for wire fraud), and I especially found it quite hilarious that Gene Ha drew Fairchild and Red Monika as hookers. :)
As for my favorite characters, after this last issue Lt. Peregrine has made it on my list (which includes Jack Phantom, Toybox, Smax, Irma Geddon and Girl 1).

SJ: Exactly.

And on that note, I'll be off ... incidentally, on a TGS-related note ... this week's episode is going to be particularly special for me, since it'll be the first I had a hand in plotting. Please ... be not gentle. Rip me to shreds!
**Mara-ko chimes up "MASOCHIST!" behind him** I know, I can't help it!
Anyway, you'll also see why a certain conversation a while back caused me to say "oh, how ironic." (That evil enough for ya, Robby?)

**picks up Mara-ko in his arms, kissing her as he walks out the door with her**

RP Tomorrow. I don't have much time tonight. Finally finished my last big term paper tonight, but I have an exam to study for. God I hate finals. Two more weeks of this...

***SPOILERS FOR BUFFY AND ANGEL****
I feel sympathy for all of those who missed tonight's episodes, cause they were quite simply some of the best work done on both series all season.

BUFFY: This is it--the big episode. Oz returns to Sunnydale, but is Willow still interested? There's trouble from the start as Willow doesn't seem too thrilled with Oz's return. You could chalk it up to shock, until, well....you know, Oz figures out that things aren't what they used to be. At the end of episode, we see who Willow chooses to be with, and it ain't Seth Green. To further spoil the ending...it looks like Will (which is really an appropriate nickname for her now) even managed to get a booty call.
Good stuff about the episode: Glad to see Oz return, with more control over his power (except for that whole Bruce Banner "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" thing). Oz's reaction to discovering Tara's...involvement was interesting. Buffy's reaction to it was priceless! Also, it was good to see Spike seemingly team up with Adam. That's a rather deadly pair if ever I saw one, and I look forward to whatever mischief they cause. It was also interesting to see Riley not just leave the Iniative, but go full out rebel on them. Perhaps the best scene of the show was Willow's final talk with Oz at the end. Excellent acting on both young actors parts. Alison Hannigan is pretty good at the waterworks, I must say. And I gotta say that Oz was taking the whole thing pretty well. Maybe it's my own insecurity, but if a woman I was with ever left me for another woman? Jesus, I'd be just about done. That's got to be the worst thing imaginable for a macho guy. Just go ahead and cut it off, cause I wouldn't be needing it any longer.
I must express some discomfort over Willow and Tara's relationship. I can accept it, it doesn't bother me that they've gone all "Ellen and Anne" all of a sudden, but....but....damnit, Willow and Oz just seemed so right together! I know Seth Green has left the show, but I still want to see them together.

ANGEL: WHOA. Heavy episode. I absolutely love the direction they are taking Faith. I'm waiting for the Demona parallels to begin. This is why Buffy and Angel get such high praise; the characters are just so damn developed. You can't help but feel both sympathy AND anger towards Faith. You feel for her, you want her to change, yet you also want her to be punished....Some very good acting tonight by David and Eliza. Both have a good chemistry together, and I'm hoping that Faith becomes a regular on the show (it was rumored way back when that she would be). Wesley and Cordy's reactions to Faith were priceless, and I was glad to see that Wesley both rejected the Watcher's Council again (and what putzes they are) and seemingly might be able to, in time, forgive Faith. I also enjoyed the scene where Faith freaks out after killing the demon; excellent way to show she's serious about changing her life around.
Then Buffy showed up and the real fireworks began! It was amazing as all hell to see Angel and Buffy not only exchange words, but blows as well! It was good to see Kate again, but sad to see she still has a mad on to stake Angel. I thought it was great that Faith actually confessed to her crimes; it's perhaps the first step to her redemption (which makes her tons better than Demona IMO...at least Faith ADMITTS what she did was wrong). And finally.....Buffy the Bitch. I could practically feel the subzero temperatures coming off the TV as she bragged to Angel how she had a new boyfriend, one she could actually trust. Angel's response was beautiful too. GREAT episode. One of the best of the season, easily.

And next week, we get the fight all of us have been waiting for: ANGEL.....VS.......RILEY!!!!!!

Warpmind> <<"Illuminati", men and women alike>>: Of course you default to the masculine (was the Illuminati behind that?), but what about when individuals or groups of females ("Look at those hot Illuminatae over there.")?

Random thought: I recently acquired the complete Planets by G. Holst. Then I thought, seven planets (Earth doesn't count and he didn't know about Pluto), seven (humanoid, original) gargoyles (in NY). And, since my mind loves finding patterns and analogies, I decided to give it a shot. In order (not celestially, bud as Gustav did it): Bringer of War: Brooklyn (the red doesn't hurt either), Bringer of Peace: Angela (and the Female), Winged Messenger: Lex (he's always been the speedy one), Bringer of Jollity: Broadway (original known for his ladies, ours got his first), Bringer of Old Age: Hudson (also the ex-leader), The Magician: Demona (caused the birth of Venus (very painfully)), The Mystic: Goliath (always in his books).

The more you run over a dead cat, the flatter it gets.

Graymonk> <<some place called Jackson heights>>: There's a Jackson Heights in Jersey, probably not where you're thinking of, though.
<<I know I've seen you in here>>: I spend most of my time here, less so in the vanila CR
"And summer's lease hath all too short a date" (S
18 4) But anyway, "Thus are my blossoms blasted in the bud/And caterpillars eat my leaves away;/But I will remedy this gear ere long,/Or sell my title for a glorious grave" (Hevry IV 2 III.1.90-3)

Cali`ope> <<You never cease to baffle me>>: "Many happy returns" is a standard birthday wish, as in "I hope that this day shall return many times in the future, and that each one shall find you happy and joyous." Or, more concise, "Long life and joy."

Rev. Atilla> <<I don't remember that quote>>: That's why I cited. It was from an mp3 I put up a couple times ago, but it was the live version, not the real one. Toku knows.

Random thought inspired by <<I am a very powerful and unusual feline>>: I prefer my Fat Cats with two cheeseburgers, fries, ketchup, mayo, letuce, tomatoes, and onions. (But, oh those Fat Kokos...)

Shadowrider> <<So, your proportion are correct...a cople of yards>>: I do the kindness of doupling everthing in SI, and then you go and recalculate in English...
<<Applied Physycs includes electromagnetism, optics and some other things...>>: My apologies, I heard applied, and that was what I thought of first. So you're learning how to build a black hole with magnets and poplscle sticks (magnets=constant force=constant acceleration=constantly increasing speed->speed of light=infinite mass=black hole (a friend of one of my roomies originally thought of this. He's a botanist now.))?

DPH> 1=0: Easy to do if you divide by zero. But then, all numbers don't exist/are equal to each other. Therefore, all math doesn't make sense, then the laws of physics have no meaning, then anything can happen. Actually anything can happen, according to what Einstein showed, but not what he believed.

Na zdorov'ya.

Hey all. Sorry for my lack of posting this week, but I just got over some emotional trama. Damn stress!

Wilek> I was actually really surprised that I got it because those kinds of awards are decided by popularity. I'm not that popular and I was running against one of the most well-liked girls of our class. She's nice though, not a B&*$#! So I was shocked that I won.

Aaron> No, I didn't see any new stuff in the Scream 3 rerelease. Was there suppose to be?

Kit> I'll be hellabusy this summer too, but we'll see what we can do. I want to meet my big sis!

GB> If I send you a picture in the mail, you won't put it on any porno sites will you? I'm taken.

Speaking of crossovers.. has anyone written MiSTings of any Gargs eps? If so, could someone please post a URL? If so, someone should ;)

I agree a Gargs-Buffy or Gargs-Angel crossover would be interesting. Heck, a Gargs-Charmed crossover would be interesting too. What about Gargs-Earth: Final Conflict? It's set in the near future and involves loads of conspiracy theories.. I'm sure Gargoyles could fit in there somewhere.. ;P

I finally finished archiving all the Battle for Technology RP and uploading. *Shrugs* Oh well, back to catching up again. Winterwolf, click on my link to check how I am putting your RP into my archive.

Wouldn't be the principles of 'Quantum Leap' defy the nature of the Gargoyles universe? In the Gargoyles universe, history is immutable; in the universe of Quantum Leap, history is 'improved'.

I'm glad to see that the CR room is lively with discussion.

Hmm. Insufficient training leads to mistakes on a job. Mistakes on a job lead to being layed off from the job. Whose fault is it in this scenario for a person being layed off?

WB - I can't pick up the WB at all due to the location of broadcasting antenna. :):(

Green Baron - did you add me to your friend list on Yahoo Messenger? or was it some other green baron?

BTW, I've tried hard to prove mathematically the following equation:

1=0

if I should succeed, does anyone realize the ramifications?

<Enters, looking a bit sleepy>
Hm, a eight hours of lesson, a two hours of homework and a three hours of Taekwon-do today...I'm just a little tired...<Crumbles on a chair>

Crossovers:> Ok, I tried to resist but I can't anymore...
Gargoyles / A-Team!! ("Take down that sucka wings, you lavender fool!")
Gargoyles / Airwolf ("Uh, String, there's a few strange flying objects at three...")
<Objects begin to fly at Shadowrider. He ducks and keeps on>
Gargoyles / Robocop (I mean the series) / Supercar !!! 'nuff said!
Gargoyles / StreetHawk (I think Brooklyn would appreciate that particularily...)

OK, seriously...

Gargs/Quantum leap would be interesting, and a Timedancer/Quantum Leap even more...
Gargs/X-Files...I think I'd like it!
And I agree with Niamhgold...Daria/Gargoyles would be funny! (And I'm serious...well...as serious as I can be...;))

Fire Storm:> Oh, OK. Since I've started connecting, I've always seen the Room wiped at 9-10 PM (Room's time, I mean) so I believed it was the usual...midnight Eastern U.S. time mean about 6 A.M. in Italy...so to achieve Top Ten I have not to go to bed late, but to wake up early. Good to know! ;)

Gside:> 16 cm a Marine?!! Whoa! So, your proportion are correct...a cople of yards? I think I could place it in my room...moving the bed outside...
Physycs: no, that kind of exercise was in Fundamentals of Physics. In my class, Applied Physycs includes electromagnetism, optics and some other things...

Warpmind:> Thank you for answering me! :) Interesting nickname origin...and I think it fits good to you...;)

Reverend Atilla:> Welcome back! It was a while I didn't see you. <<was that teh joke e-mail form a few weeks ago, or a more recent e-mail >> The first one you mentioned...the title is supposed to be "Dirty jokes 2". I just wanted to be sure you received it...my email server is not very reliable lately...

Kitainia:> Good to see you, my friend. About Elisa Dushku...well, I liked her in "True Lies" (her one was a minor role, but she played it quite well). I'd like to see "Buffy" season 3...but I'd be satisfied of season 1! I have heard a lot of good about that series here, so I'm very curious...hope someone will import it in Italy. Glad you liked Dario Argento's movies. I can tell you that for the ones of my generation in Italy he is more than a director...he is almost a prophet! ;) I think he is one of the very few horror directors who are able to scare to death the audience even as nothing seems to happen on the screen, just with the music and a genial usage of viewpoints. So you've seen "Opera" and "Deep Red", isn't it? They are two of my preferred Argento's movies (I like all of his movies, but those two and a few others particularily...I suggest to you "Suspiria" and "Inferno"). I particularily like the scenes with the crows from "Opera"...and the theme music from "Deep Red".
About my fanfic...well, I have good news! I completed the first version yesterday, and now I'm reviewing it and rewriting some scenes. I think I'll complete the correction within Saturday, so I'm going to begin the translation next Monday. I hope to finish in 3 weeks starting from now.
Random question:> A doubt that came to me after reading "A thought of the Heart" (I repeat, beautiful episode): as a Gargoyle egg hatches, the hatchling is as defenseless as a human new-born child, I mean, unable to walk and barely able to move? Or instead a just-hatched Garg is more like a bigger human child?

<Yawns repeatedly>
Ok, seems that my body is telling me "Go to bed" and I think I'll obey. See you all!

Ciao!

Warpmind> Before the great crash, I had a level 37 rogue, and a bevy of mid-20s rogues. I had the Veil of Steel at one time, but my fave piece of gear of all time was the Windforce. Long War Bow, 300% damage, knockback. :) But I never got to keep anything for more then six months, due to a weird glitch that ditched all my items every time I went on or off daylight savings time. But that was fun in a way. The reason I play so... excitedly is because I have a bad tendency to hotdog it, and stay downstairs way past the time I should have bailed out.

Greymonk> If I recall, that was where Andrew Jackson beat the british trying to invade New Orleans, after the war was over.

SJ> No ABC in the largest markets in the country *during sweeps week* you mean.

Kit> Well, if the Spurs lose tonight, they'll be eliminated, and your shows won't be preempted anymore. You'll forgive me if I'm hoping they *don't* lose.

Later. Go Spurs!

Hi to Reverend Attila and Graymonk.

Gside> There are definitely worse additives. I felt the need to end with the exact final line. By the way it was from the Simpsons. <creativity demon> "One, Two, Five!" "Three sir!" "Three!" Arthur tosses the holy hand grenade.

Jannie> I hope you feel better soon!

Graymonk> Hi again. Thanks for the historical info. This gives me some more to read up on. ^_^

Caliope> <Roswell> You probably already know this, but just in case there is a pretty cool fan page for Roswell. It is at http://www.crashdown.com/. It tells you how you can support the show and help keep it from being cancelled. When there was a scare that the show was in peril recently some fans sent Tabasco sauce to the WB with a letter of support. The WB has received over 3,000 bottles of Tabasco sauce to date!
<TGS CR> I hope I still see you here. Don't leave us. ;)

Revel> When you mentioned a Millenium Falcon attempting to fly out of a second story window. I could visualize it so clearly I couldn't help but laugh. Most of my early action figures/toys met various destructive forces. :|

Winterwolf sighed. He didn't know where he was and he didn't know where he was going. Winterwolf needed a little help. He opened his belt pouch and took out a small stone figurine of a humanoid horse. The figure fit completely in one closed hand. Winterwolf set the figurine down on the ground and used a claw to cut the palm of his hand. He made sure that every drop of blood fell on the figurine. Once it was covered in blood it began to glow a dark red. It grew until it was several inches taller than Winterwolf. Then the stone exploded revealing a red equine humanoid.

"Winterwolf. Have you found the cure to my curse?"

"No Equus. I haven't but I know of one who may help. I have seen him in my dreams and he is a powerful wizard and can probably restore you permanently." Winterwolf replied.

"Then let us contact him." Equus said.

"If only it was that simple. I never met him, nor do I know where he is." Winterwolf stated.

"This does not matter. You have seen him in a dream or vision you say?" Equus asked.

"Yes" Winterwolf answered.

"Come here and speak into the mind of your ally." Equus touched Winterwolf's forehead once he stepped closer. "Speak to your ally and tell him to show you the way to him."

Winterwolf's voice travels through the wind into the mind of DPH. "I am looking for you. I am just to the side of the road. The sign calls the road Route 66. How do I reach you? Draw a map for me with sepia squid ink. The magic of the ink will allow me to see through your eyes. I will contact you again."

Equus removed his hand from Winterwolf's forehead. "It is dangerous to be out here and looking so odd. Let me conceal you with an illusion. Equus drew a strange symbol on Winterwolf's chest. "Now anyone that sees you will think you are of their race. The sun approaches. Wake me in after the second sunset." The rays of sunlight cause Equus to revert to the statue figurine in a flash of red light."

"I guess I'll get something to eat while I wait." Winterwolf picked up the figurine and carefully put it back in the belt pouch. "If only that spell allowed two way communication."

**RP HERE**

"So the imp just got burned up?" Jammer is staring at the dog carrier that held Zezil and shaking his head as all the other Ravens gather around him. "I don't believe this." "Somebody burned him up," says Shauna. "We saw the face." "That had to be someone powerful," Stephanie says worriedly. "And we have to fight this guy?" "Apparently so," Shap nods. "You heard what that imp said about his master planning stuff in Atlanta. I think we gotta get down there and stop it, posthaste." "Agreed," Kit nods. "But what about our other problems? We still gotta handle them." "And boy, do we have a lot," agrees Keith. "Those soldiers we're holding prisoner, the truck's condition after the last battle with all those tank shells hitting it, wanting to see Coyote, Doug's mind being gone…" "Hey, my mind is not gone!" Doug cuts in. "I just can't remember a lot of stuff. And I could be getting better." He grins as everyone turns and stares at him. "You are getting better," Kit says. "Yeah," agrees Tricia. "You're already getting obnoxious again." Doug frowns. "What?" "Never mind," Kit says. "I've been thinking about these problems, I've come to possible solutions for them. First, the truck. Can we still drive it?" "Does it run?" Boris asks. "Yeah, it does. Engine's pretty shocked up, though. We may have to tow it part of the way. That Shreck guy's tank can do the job, it was barely damaged in the battle except for its main gun getting totaled and it runs very well." "Then we'll use it to get the truck to Phoenix," Kit says. "I hope the truck's still there." "He's not," Gubio says. "I checked with an Internet buddy of mine in the area while you were talking with the imp. Coyote was there for a while, but now he's gone. Where he went I don't know, but my friend remembers him leaving because he still had those circus people with him when he left Phoenix. That was about six months back." "Okay," Kit frowns, "I guess we don't have time to track him down, wherever he's gone now. We'll have to get someone else to fix the truck up." "I know someone who could do it," says Lathrop. "He owns a mechanic's shop in Santa Fe, and is very good at his work. Does lots of work on trucks. He can't fix the weapons on the Onslaught or the special technology, but if it's just the engine and armor that got damaged…" "It is," says Boris. "I checked it out." "Then John Ranney's our man," replies Lathrop. "Then we're taking the truck to him," Kit says. "You can see your family while we're there, I know you miss them." "I do," Lathrop nods, then looks at Doug. "But I can wait to see them, if we are going to fix the mind of my student first." "I might have an idea about that," Kit grins.

**FIND OUT WHAT IT IS AT POST'S BOTTOM, PAUSE RP FOR NOW**

Hi everyone. Good to be back in the CR again. <smiles> Sorry I haven't been in here in a while, time's eaten up at the end of the semester. Which it is now, since I only have four school days left before finals. :) That's the good news I have to report today. The bad news is, you won't believe this, our local WB station is once again pushing tonight's Angel back to Saturday for a basketball game. Spurs and Suns again, as if they couldn't have settled their championship a week ago. <sighs> Why can't this just end? Hope that Angel is once again worth waiting for this week like it was last week (saw the ep Saturday night of course, it was great, excellent plot and character development on everyone, especially in the end scene. Would say more but it's all been said). For now I guess I'll just bear that it's being delayed, again. :( On to replies.

GXB: Congrats on handling that enforced and unnecessary shrink session. Like Christine said, if it had been me who you'd ended up seeing, your father would be very disappointed. :) I'm glad you were able to get through it okay, and find some blessings in disguise with it, hope they keep coming (and the shrink doesn't start trying to push your father's agenda like I'm afraid of :( ). Whatever happens, good luck with your dad and your life, I hope you can keep dealing with the problems and soon escape all of them. Don't worry, it will happen someday. :)

Shadowrider: Glad you agree with me about Eliza Dushku. Don't worry, she is a very good actress. If you ever see Buffy Season 3, you'll know. :) Speaking of good actresses, I checked out some Argento movies last weekend as per your recommendation. You were right, they were excellent. Great direction and plots, beuatiful stories, and good acting from Asia and the other stars too. I only saw two of them- Opera and Deep Red- but if all his films are as good as those are, well then, he's definitely a good director. His daughter's a good actress too. I still don't know if I'd choose her to play me over Eliza Dushku, but she is good. Thanks again for suggesting her work to us. :) Hope to soon be able to read your fanfics.

Joe: I too wish you good luck with the album. Hope it gets put out soon, is distributed widely, and sells well.

Mandi: <shakes head> That was one sick senior prank. Thank goodness I never had to suffer anything like it. (The worse that ever happened at my high school involved fifty gallons of whitewash, twenty gallons of red paint, two hundred rolls of toilet paper, a Mack truck parked across several teachers' parking spaces, a tarred and feathered effigy of the former principal, and a dead steer. You guys can imagine how those things were put together, I assure you it was not pretty.) Good luck to your school's cleaning staff in getting the prank cleaned up. Wish the seniors were forced to do it as they rightly should be (they were at my school, thank God I could prove I didn't participate in setting the prank up). Oh, and by the way, welcome back! :)

**SPOILERS FOR TIMEDANCER**

Thank you so much TGS Staff for this latest episode! A Thought of the Heart has to be my favorite ep all season. I liked its writing even better than that of Giri, the plot flowed wonderfully and was both interesting and entertaining, and the character development was just incredible. Great to see Melchior and all the Menagerie cast again, and to get such great development on them. The development was good on Brooklyn too. Especially liked the dialogue and the complete lack of editing mistakes I could find (good work Kyryn!). The palpable emotion all throughout was also great, as was the ending (I too hope we will someday hear more about that hatchling, whoever its parents were and whoever it was). Only thing that could have made the ep better was pictures, hope we get those added at some future date. Overall, I give the ep a 10/10 just like Doug did (wonderful, isn't it Entity?). Thank you all so much for putting it out, glad you were able to. The stories in the rest of this season will hopefully be at least as good as this one was, no matter how impossible that is. :)

**TIMEDANCER SPOILERS PASS**

SJ: So Lucas is rewriting Boba Fett's past? <sighs> Can't say I'm surprised. Also hearing this, I frankly can't believe I've enjoyed so many of his movies. They were good stories, but honestly a man with so little respect for his fans, who lies to them and doesn't seem to care that we all know it by looking at his actions (such as this), who thinks his fans are just stupid sheep who will always like the work he does…such a person does not deserve an ounce of praise. I don't care what gems he's put out, this is true. <sighs> So George, if you're listening, I hope you can see why I feel this way, understand, and know I'm not the only one who's viewed your work and has these opinions. I hope you change your ways. And if you don't, well, Star Wars Episodes 2 and 3 better be good. Or if not, they better bomb like they deserve to. :(

Christine: Dark of the Elvenwood looks fantastic on the outside, as everyone has said. Hope it looks good on the inside too, when I read it this summer. And of course I'm sure it will. :)

Daniel Johnson: The CR mirror site looks great, thanks for putting it up. Hope you can continue. :)

SOROW: <Doug> I think it would be wonderful if you and Kit came down to see me and Joe. Maybe one of his benefit concerts this summer?> Maybe. Doug and I will have a lot going on this summer, but if we get the chance, we promise to use it to see you. Hope you're looking forward to it as much as we are. <grin> (And don't worry, Green Baron, if we see her, we will take pics. :)

Wilek: I too miss Traveler. His goofiness is something no one else in this CR has been able to duplicate, so is his amazingly infectious humor. Hope he brings them back to us someday, and that he's doing alright. (Dragons, Dragons, Dragons, Dragons, and still incredibly even more Dragons, and the Dragon King! :).

Action Figures: All the ones Winterwolf mentioned, plus any more interesting new main characters that have yet to appear in TGS. I'd like to see a Matt Bluestone figure too, and an Angela one. (Other than those I've made myself. :)

Jessie Feff: Congrats on finally getting Boys Don't Cry to come to your town. Hope you enjoy the film. I know I did, when I saw it (even though the ending was quite sad).

Jannie: Good luck with that operation, hope you come out of it okay. <crosses fingers> Also glad to hear I'm not the only one who's recently been enjoying Donald Fleming's Buffy/Gargs crossover fics.

SJ again: Believe it or not, DC's recently started putting out an Aliens vs. Predator vs. the Terminator series. Picked up the first issue last week, it's pretty good. If the series keeps up its quality, I'd definitely recommend it. :) You liked Xena this weekend too, huh? I only watched it while waiting for Angel (recorded Early Edition, Martial Law, and Walker, the shows I usually watch on Saturdays) but the ep was interesting. That scene with Ares and his speech was very well-acted, and entertaining too. And it was kinda funny to see how Joxer had turned out in his old age. Personally I wish the show had ended there, it could have, but of course it won't. <sighs> At least this will probably be the last season. If it gets any more convoluted, I'm going to be sick. :)

Reverend Attila: Welcome back, glad you haven't lost your entertaining political views. Hope you'll stay around for quite a while. <grins and strokes head>

And I guess that's all for now. Man, this is a short post for me, isn't it? :) Oh well, I don't have the time for more, nor the topics. Hope what I've said has been enough. Good luck to everyone in here, especially those going through their last week of school like Doug and I are. I'll see you next time. <waves>

**RESUME RP NOW**

The screen comes back on, to show all the Ravens looking at Kitainia. "What's your idea?" Tom asks her. "Well," Kit says, "you know how that imp said whatever erased Doug's mind was a mad scientist's invention. That implies this is a scientific procedure that did this to him. Medical science might be able to reverse it. The doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota are the best in the world, I want to take Doug there." "But do they know how to fix what's wrong with him?" Elena inquires with a frown. "Yeah," Shap says. "My father was in the Mayo Clinic, and the doctors there are great, but there's no way even they can cure what happened to Doug. There's no medical procedure for reversing memory loss." "There are medical procedures to help it, though," Kit says. "We have to try them. It will cost time and money, it may not work, but there's no other way." "There might be," Lathrop counters. "Something that demon said, about Lethe water. I seem to remember hearing something about that, but I can't think of what it was." "Lethe?" Orion asks. "You mean the legendary river of the underworld, you drink it and your memory goes away?" Lathrop nods. "Well," the cleric frowns, "maybe you're thinking of the old story that its effects can be countered by the nectar of a flower called desert night." "Desert night?" Lathrop repeats excitedly. "That's it, that's what I was thinking of!" "Is that story true, Orion?" Kit asks, her voice also excited. "Does the flower exist?" The Ravens all turn to the cleric looking equally excited, Doug especially as he considers the possibilities. "I don't know if it does or not," Orion admits. "I only remember hearing the story from my friend Tanith, before the cornugon demon took her away." "Your Wiccan friend?" Tricia asks, and he nods. "Would that she was here now, to tell us more." "She is not here," says Erin, "but perhaps desert night can be." They all turn to her. "What do you mean?" asks Gubio. "I too have heard of this flower," Erin says. "In an ancient underground city near Ankara, the place of my birth, there lives a society of expert herbalists whose knowledge has been handed down through generations. They used desert night nectar once, to help the memory loss of my uncle, who had fallen down and hit his head hard. It worked for him, as I remember. It might not work for Doug, but…" "But we have to try," Kit says, and she nods. "Then we will. Can you get some of this nectar?" "I believe so, yes," Erin replies. "I'd have to go to Ankara, though." "I'll go with you," Gubio volunteers. "You guys get Doug to Mayo, see what they can do, we'll meanwhile catch a plane to Turkey and get this flower." "Okay," Kit nods. "Sounds good. So let's finish getting ready to bug out and do it." "What about the prisoners?" Keith asks. "And Atlanta?" "We'll keep with the prisoners with us for now," Kit says, "and worry about them later. Atlanta we can worry about later too." Shap shakes his head. "We shouldn't. If demons are really going to open a Hellmouth there…" "Okay," Kit nods, "you're right. You and Shauna go there and find out what's happening. Call us once you see what's up and we'll come running. In the meantime, the rest of us will get on to Mayo and worry about Doug." She waits for debate, but none is forthcoming. "Okay then," she nods. "Let's finish getting our stuff together and get out of town."

**TO BE CONTINUED, END RP**

Well the good news it's dead week, the bad news it's dead week. What does that mean? It means everyone is going to mope around like zombies in a George Romero movie and finish everything at the LAST minute.
Almost there.
Kyryn-OUCH! I only took basic anatomy, but what ever that is it sounds painful, best wishes.

Rodlox-Trivial issues- Hey I like restrooms, sure the tail tends to get in the way but I've managed. Luckily my chair has an open back.
Toys-Hmm, can't say too much on this one. I still curse myself for destroying my scale size original Millenium Falcon by seeing if it could fly out the second floor window of my grandparents house. I cry every time I look in a price guide or trade catalog. In fact GI Joes and Transformers didn't fare too well with my brother and I. All the Joes have been burned or are missing their heads and the only Transformer I still have is Jazz because I left him on my desk intact. When it comes to Gargoyles merchandise my collection is pittiful compared to others, but at least it's undamaged.
Warpmind-You should know that I mentioned your online name as a conspiracy theory author in a story that I'm writing that will just never end. If that unsets you I'll change it.

Good day all!

Graymonk>Nice to see a fellow Canadian standing up to all these big bad Americans in here(just kidding all you big bad Americans in here)! I was trying to figure out how to word a reply re:War of 1812-14 myself but couldn't wuite recall all the relevant details. Oh well, you did a pretty good job covering it.

Reverend Attila>Why would the US want to take over up here anyway, maybe for the beer, or the maple syrup, or the girls...did I mention the beer? Nah, it's not worth it for you to even bother trying....but keep sending your tourist dollars our way!

Re:Sheena Easton. She did play an immortal in Highlander as well, sorry I don't recall what season it was. Not a very convincing job portraying a vengeful sword wielding killer, although I can think of worse people to be stalking me with a sharp knife!

Has anyone out there tried System Shock 2? Great game! Amazing sound. If your into shoot-em-up games then give this one a try.

Well gotta go, I hear a cold Canadian beer calling me.....!

I have no shame. Besides I just know Methos is the oldest liveing highlander type immortal. I certainly do understand there's plenty of other kinds of immortals like vampires, and cursed beings like the witch Angelique or if you at it in that light perhaps Demona and MacBeth. Maybe not her but he certainly for quite a while though of his immortality as a curse.

RP maybe tonight, but right now a few thoughts:

Disney vs. Time Warner: Maybe it's blasphemous for me to say this, but I LOVE this. Disney is doing what it typically does, and that's try and bleed others for money. So what does Time Warner do? They say, okay, wanna play that way? Here you go--no ABC in the largest markets in the country. It's BEAUTIFUL. If Disney knows what's good for them, they'll know their role and shut their mouths. Bend over and take it for Time Warner, cause they really have the Mouse by the short hairs on this one.

Action Figures: I'd like to see all of the clan done. And Xanatos in battle armor, Elisa, an Owen/Puck 2 pack, virtually all of the villains and the Children of Oberon....but they ALL have to be done by Todd McFarlane. He's the best. I hate his comics, but the man can make some toys. His Goliath would just be intense. Giant wings, snarl on his face, claws ready to rip apart anyone...

Wilek: I'm sure that Dark Horse has probably done a Batman vs. Alien. They've done pretty much EVERYTHING vs. Alien. Or Predator. Or Terminator. It gets a little tedious after while. You would like their Star Wars stuff, though. :)

Coyote: You know the only reason that that schmuck David Arquette is wearing the WCW strap is cause they're desperately trying to promote and publicize that dopey wrestling movie they put out. Only they've sort of made the title a joke now. I mean, give the strap to someone who deserves it, like Vampiro or Kidman!

Green Baron: If there's one thing I despise even more so than a corrupt politician its their mouthpiece. Greg Craig is not on my most favorite people's list. ;)

****SPOILERS FOR XENA***
This past weekend they showed the episode where Xena and Gabrielle get frozen in time. Rather interesting new direction for the show, actually. And I must admitt, that it was kind of touching at the end. The story itself was kind of convoluted: Xena and Gabrielle faked their own deaths to trick the gods. Only it worked out a little too well, cause they fooled Ares into believing they were really dead. It was kind of touching, cause he actually froze the two of them--so they could be together. And he talked about how he really did love Xena. Interesting. I'm gonna keep watching this show for the time being....maybe with the new direction they're going into things will pick up.
****END SPOILERS****

MS dying? I don't think so. What sells MS's OS is its GUI and the availability of software for its OS. Along comes Java, which if a program is written in it, can run on virtually any OS.

I tried as hard as I could to imagine a scenario where in the PC market, 3 companies had 25-30% of the market share. But, I started thinking that would be bad for the people teaching others how to use computers. Gradually, 1 of the 3 would go out of business due to choices made by computer programs (which OS to write programs in). The only way the 3 would surive was if Java technology was developed quickly.
if I'm wrong, someone please point out the errors in my logic.

TOYS - the reason I'm asking about Toys is that do we want the toys to drive the next gargoyle series or the gargoyle series to drive the toys.

Hi, I posted here once or twice before under the name niner, I ussually post at Station 8 but I noticed a war of 1812-14 disscussion and I had to put in my two cents.

The war began for a variety of reasons but the two that always stick in my mind are 1) as Taleweaver said Britain was pressing sailors from american ships into srevice. While the British Navy was the toghest in the world it also had the worst living conditions, the living quarters for sailors were cramped, unsanitary, filled with vermin and disease. This naturally led to many sailors running away from their posts to get much nicer living conditions on board american vessels. This in turn led to British captains boarding american vessels to capture to AWOL sailors but they often, either because they were mistaken or simply needed more troops but didn't care how they got them, also took back american sailors who had never been members of the Brit Navy, actions which naturally pissed off the americans. 2) Many politicans from from in land american states were advocating that the US attack and conquer Canada. These politicans argued that a) it was america's manifest destiney to conquer all of North America so why not attack, b) Many Canadian settlers were former American citizens who would gladly support such a conquest and c) With the britsh military occupied with war in Europe the Canadians would be unable to put up much of a fight, the war would imply be "a matter of marching".

Things didn't go at all as smotthly as the americans thought. The majority of former Americans in Canada were decendents of refugees which were forced out of america because they remained loyal to britain, while the Quebecois were woried about what an english nation which was founded by puritans would treat their french Catholic nation. These settlers were not kindly disposed towards the americans and gladly helped the british military fight back against the US agression. Under the command of a british general named Iassac Brock and a native leader named Techunmseh the combined forces of the Canadian militia, the british army and the native tribes turned back the vastly larger american invasion force, captured much of the northen US and burned down all the public buildings in the US capital after being bribed by the civilain citizens of the capital not to loot or burn any private property. While the land-based american military was unsucessful the american Navy claimed a number of impressive victories, eventually acheiving naval superiroity in the great lakes. The war ende in a tie, by 1814 Techumseh, Brock and Brock's fabulous horse Alfie were dead and with the Us in control of the great lakes the Canadian forces were worried about how they fare with weaker leadership and a vulnerable coastline. At the same time the war in europe was ending and the full force of the british empire's military would soon be focused on defending British North America and there was no way the americans could win the war before massive british re-enforcements landed in north america. Both sides met to negotiate a peace treaty but at the meeting the ambassadors got so drunk by the time they sobered up they didn't have time to get into any serious peace talks becaues they had to go back to their respective governments with a treaty the next day so the ambassadors agreed that they would restore the borders to what they had been before the war. Both sides, eager to end the war gladly signed. two weeks after the treaty was signed the americans won a tremendous victory, at some place called Jackson heights I think, which gave the american people the impression that they won the war despite the fact that the battle happened far away from Upper Canada (where most of the fighting was taking place) weeks after the war ended and therefore had no effect on the outcome of the war.

Jessie Feff - You're a Top Ten fan too? Cool! My favorites are Toy Box, Fischman, Synasthesia, Wolfspider, Blindshot and Kelmo. That Ragnorok story from issue seven is a riot! What's your favorite storylin so far?

Kyryn> ovarian cyst? ouch! I hope that your tests turn out well and you begin to feel better soon :)

My long awaited (7 wks) appointment to the stomach doctor was yesterday. They are going to schedule some type of testing that will require a tube into my nose & into my esphogus to measure something and then they'll place a smaller tube back in that will be left for 24 hours - to measure the amount of acid in my stomach. *shudders* I hope they sedate me... heh, I'm a very bad patient, so THEY will hope to sedate me! At this point, I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of the pain.

Crossovers: a very good fanfic written with the Buffy/Garg crossover is by Donald Flemming. He's currently written Part One & Two. I've enjoyed reading them and am anxious for Part Three. It's titled 'A Werewolf in Manhattan'. He's also written on called, 'Sunnydale Interlude'.

It appears as if Houston was hit with some major storms during the wee hours of the morning...I slept thru it, as usual. My suburb was not hit too hard though.

Personal countdown:
18 more school days for me - and you thought only students hated going to school?? *chuckles*
94 more days till G2K
90 more days till Denis and I meet! *happy feet dance*

*grabs Denis and dances with him out of the room*

okay, i promised, so i'll keep true to my word, and here it is, quoted from the magazine _Military History_:

. 'According to the _Annales Cambriae_, the _Comes_ Artorius was mortally wounded after killing one of his own rebellious lieutenants, Medrautus Lancerius, at the Battle of Camlann in 514 (Medrautus, who had also made off with the widowed Artorius' second wife, Guinevere of Luguvalium, would wform the basis for borth the useurper Mordred and the tragic, tainted champion Lancelot in Arthurian legend).'

JASON BARNETT - I recall that fanfic which you mention (Durid the Druid was its author). Quite a chilling one, too. I've sometimes wondered as to whether cursing all humanity to become gargoyles at night would really be that wise a punishment, mind. For one thing, it wouldn't really restore the gargoyle race; instead you'd only have humans trapped inside gargoyle bodies. And also, it's likely that the horrified humans might come to hate gargoyles all the more as a result, because they would associate them with their nightly transformations. I didn't find that a flaw in the story, however, partly because the final scene indicated that Oberon's punishment was indeed causing such problems (Elisa herself is wondering if she did the right thing), but mainly because the punishment struck me as being perfectly in character for Oberon.

I rather like that vision that you had of the middle-aged Elisa in a lonely house in the forest with seven statues on the roof. Is this scene, by the way, during the day or the night? (If in the daytime, the statues actually could be the clan, but if at night, they could be memorials instead to her friends, murdered horribly by the Quarrymen).

As for whether Elisa really would turn against humanity bitterly, it's hard to say. While gargophobia is certainly a prevalent force in humanity, Elisa's not the only human out there who's been able to accept gargoyles, and short of every other pro-gargoyle human being killed or corrupted, which would be a pretty tall order, I doubt that she'd have grounds as yet for the conclusion that all humans are hopeless gargoyle-haters.

Really, this is weak! Where are those Hellish hordes? Oh, well, time to push on." As you can see, I have reasons to keep the door shut. :)

Hi everyone!

First of all, thank you all who wished me luck on the gallery opening! I was stressed, but it went really well! I've even got some people interested in buying some of my pieces! :) Also, I have a few prints scanned, and though I don't have my own webpage at this point in time, Jannie has offered to post some of them up on her page. I'll let you know when this happens, anyone interested in seeing some of my prints. I am primarily a print artist now, doing screenprints, woodcuts, lithography, intaglio and the like. The good thing about this is I can get a nice big edition, with multiples of each work. :)

Anyway, this is my last week of classes, then I've got a few finals...then I'm done! well...for this year, at least.

Bleah, I can't remember..was it Coyote the Bando who mentioned Alan Moore's "Top 10?" Just gotta say "right on!" *L* I've been following this book since it came out. Great book, chock-full of interesting characters. Kemlo the Hyperdog is probably my favorite character, but he's just barely ahead of Jack Phantom, Dust Devil, and Synaethesia Jackson. :P If you like superheroes, read this book. If you like cop dramas, read this book. If you like to laugh, read this book. *L* Just read it.

And I'm all excited because "Boys Don't Cry" is _finally_ in town and I'll get to see it tomorrow. Heh...I live in a dinky little college town, and the movie theater has one screen...so it takes forever and a day for movies to get here.

Okay, I think I'm forgetting something here, but I guess it'll have to wait til tomorrow (or whenever I post again).

Random thought: Assuming that the Illuminati are currently equal opportunity, does anyone ever say Illuminata or Illuminatae? And way back when were there Illuminata (sing: Illuminatum)? I haven't taken latin in over four years, and it's still haunting me. SPQR, anyway.

Kyryn> Well wishes.

Shadowrider> <<About the battlecruiser...a 25cm lenght could be small enough>>: Assuming a 6.5 in (~16.5 cm) marine and you need to fit a good sized crew aboard a battlecruiser, I think a battlecruiser at the same scale would be at least a good couple yards (~meters) long and a few feet (~1 meter) high.
<<Applied Physics>>: Dropping crates of supplies on islands, and watching monkeys throw coconuts off cliffs, are you? Though it it always fun shooting a monkey assuming it drops from its branch exactly when you pull the trigger (we did this in lecture).

Green Baron> <<pro-Free Market RP>>: "I can't wait, I'm lowering interest rates, my people say:/"King, how are you such a genius?/There's a roof overhead/and food on our plates!"/It's laissez-faire, I don't even give a care
Let's make Friday part of the weekend/And give every new baby a chocolate eclair" (Moxy Fru:vous, King of Spain)

Winterwolf> <<the biggest one from last week>>: The Old Castle? (What's Falstaff doing at the exhibition? Shakespeare joke: don't ask) If so, you'd probably like Bydlo this time.
That's good/bad: That sounds extremely familliar, but I can't place it.
<<Potassium Benzoate>>: KC6H5? It seems to be a pretty common additive, is it really that bad? Now, ethelene glycol (not to be confused with propylene glycol), that's bad.

Fire Storm> <<Marine (Blue, I think), A Protos (Unsure), and a Zergling>>: The marine was blue, the zealot was basically yellow, and the hydralisk (not 'ling) can be approximated as brown.
<<That just sounded good>>: In reply: "Now is the winter of this dirge of posts/made gloriously filled by this brave poster;/And all the emptiness that lour'd upon our room/In the deep ether of the 'net buried." Yeah, the winter/summer/sun imagery isn't really there anymore, but what can you do? You can't improve on Bill. Bill rocks my world.

Random smallish (Pendragon) creativity demon: Emrys, practicing his spells again, decides to make Arthur believe three is five, just to annoy him and see how long it takes him to figure it out.

Mordred's birthday: The birthday of one of the greatest evils in Arthurian legend, and the birthday of my brother... coincidence? I think not.

Na zdorov'ya.

Sorry for the second post, but I'm testing things. It SEEMS like my caching problem has mysteriously vanished for the first time in over a month. I didn't change anything on my end, so I wonder if my emails to tech support actually did some good. :) Either that, or a phase shift in the gravitic anomalizer reversed the polarity of the neutron flow. ;)

Immortals> Actually, I think an immortal called Methusulah was older, but since died. It sticks in my mind because during the episodes involving Rebecca's crystal which supposedly grants an Immortal invulnerability, that was cited as proof it worked.

War of 1812> I didn't want to get involved because the point of the original post was to remeber those who fought and died in Vietnam. But since some one brought it up here's the scoop. Britain wasn't trying to reclaim the US. The UK was fighting wars with other European countries and to fill its ranks it 'impressed' people British ships encountered on the high seas. The US said stop. The UK said make me and they got ready to rumble.

How it ended I'm not so solid on. I don't think it was because of American grit as much as Britain put so much resources into fighting the US it was looking pretty vulnerable to those same European powers Britain was impressing soliders to fight.

I find it less important what wars American won or lost compared to what we become because of the fight. And who we become after the fight. I think America needs to lose some fights to understand that war isn't just some fun, 'yee-haw' adventure. It's a grim, fearsome business. Not one I wish to deal in for a while.

Fire Storm:
RE: caching
I can't explain it either, but it isn't being cached on my end: three different computers, when dialed into my account, return the EXACT same outdated version of this page. With any program. Including those with no local caching ability of their own. The SAME programs on the SAME computers return the correct pages when going through AOL's network. Also, I have NEVER had this problem before my ISP installed their web caching software. Never. This is actually helping to push me to getting DSL service, although it does cost a lot more. And for the record, my main Internet machine is an iBook SE running IE 5.0. I have Netscape also, but the result is the same.

All right I'd just like to remind everyone that I've posted the X-Files/Gargs crossover at the CFAN Other fics RR board so please add to it.

Does anyone think there could be any action that could set Elisa against or at least put her off speaking terms with the rest of the human race. A while ago there was a fic with the idea that after the clan was killed and the Quarrymen considered heroes Elisa returned the carrier virus minus the disinfecctent to Demona who then goes to Avalon and Oberon casts a spell on it. Esentially he finds humanity guilty of genocide and declares that all three races have to exist. So for the rest of time humanity will take the place of gargoyles at night. Also I've often had this idea of just some nameless character walking through a forest and stumbling onto a house with seven statues on it. Inside is a middle-aged woman who is rather curt and directs him on his way quickly. It's Elisa, of course sometime in the near future.

Finally I'm thinking of starting another RR if I can get any support for it. It's based on the proposed tricksters episode of TGC. The other tricksters are allowed to visit Wyvern for a while to see Puck and they basically cause some well-meaning chaos. They get-along great with Fox and even help awaken some of her latent power. With her name and attitude there's no doubt in my miind she'd be a trickster. Coyote gives Elisa the ability to turn into a gargoyle for the duration of the visit. No real purpose. Just to let her have some fun and maybe a night with Goliath that's uninterrupted.

Hi everybody!

So who did it? Was it Disney or Time Warner? I read a report and each one blames the other. For me it doesn't matter. I have rabbit ears on my old TV. It doesn't even have a remote of course once you add a VCR presto no more getting up to change the channels. ^_^

Todd> Oops! I meant that sarcastically. I forgot the ;) I know there were too many Goliath figures. At least IMHO and I guess yours as well.

******BEGIN RP - BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA******

Winterwolf emerged from the portal. Looking around he saw he was in a bedroom. The portal was right behind him. It hadn't disappeared as he expected! Winterwolf imagined the one who attacked him could easily step out and attack again. "I better get out of here." Spotting an open window Winterwolf jumped out of it. He landed in a backyard and darted out into the street. "Where is this ally and how do I find him?" Winterwolf continued running down the street. He saw several trees and some brush on the right side of the road. Winterwolf concealed himself and took some time to catch his breath. "What have I gotten myself into?"

******END RP******

Fire Storm> I have to agree with you. I also remember it as "being naughty in My sight". <Avery Brooks: What part did he play in Gargoyles?> He played that alien. War of 1812: Lets say the Britan was stupid enough to try and take back the USA. Now, assuming non-nuclear, non-"special" weapons (Chemical, biological, ETC...), how far do you think the war would go?

RE: MSN Internet Explorer

I’d have to go with Wilek on this one. Netscapes been the one to make a buggy mess of my computer.

I’d have to agree with Green Baron on the AFL-CIO thing.
The value-meal-sized labor unions need to be broken. Also, we need to stop turning a blind eye to the fact that it is illegal for most state, local, and federal government employees to strike. When your boss is the government, you are supposed to legislate and elect change, not bully it. If you don’t like that, you don’t work for the government. There is a reason they call it civil SERVICE after all. That’s not the way government is supposed to work.

I’m sorry, maybe I’m biased because I live in Taxachusetts and thus dwell on the front lines of hackarama, and I’ve seen what is nearer the bottom of the slippery slope than where most people in the US live. There was just a huge slap in the face offered by the Speaker of our State House and his cronies where key budget votes were ridiculously porked-out in an all-night spending spree wherein members were recorded as voting who were not even in the state or awake. Did I forget to mention the bear and wine tasting events being held officially on Beacon Hill (our state Legislature’s home)? Yes, our esteemed representatives were passed out at their seats or the benches, intoxicated, at Midnight, still casting votes. And of course, no one is allowed to know who in specific is guilty of what as a result of the Speaker’s rule that the closed-circuit video camera in the House floor is not allowed to pan. This allows a skeleton crew to create the illusion of a full, non-inebriate, conscious house flooor.

Who took the Servant out of Civil Servant? Probably the same guys who took out the “Civil” park: the lecherous, drunken jerks we pay to sit around and drunkenly spend money that doesn’t belong to them.

** Niamhgold peeks in; another quickie **

I've finally decided to sit down today and finish off the suggestions I got from my fanfic editor. Hopefully, I'll have it up by the end of this week. (Crosses fingers).

Action Figures: I know it's being asked about the spin-off series, but I wan't some that weren't mentioned from the regular "Gargoyles." A Rory/Cuchulain figure. Sarah Jasper. And a Matt Bluestone! They can have Elisa in a scanty-clad battle outfit, but I want a sharp-dressed Bluestone! ;) ** Niamhgold has a brief creativity demon about Matt and Rory's lineage having a possible connection, then shakes her head ** Nah, wouldn't work in my ficverse.

As for Timedancer action figures, I'd have to agree with an Ari, Graeme, Sata, and Brooklyn in Future Tense Garb. Pendragon? I'd like Griff, and from Dark Ages, I'm thinking I want the trio as hatchlings. They'd be so cute!

Mecord: <<skin melanin>> Yep, you have it about right. The genes that code for the amount of melanin to be produced are often linked to light hair colors; not to say that dark haired people can't be fair-skinned, like myself. Only I don't *burn*--I just never change color. Kind of like an albino in reverse.

Gargoyles Crossovers That I'd Like To See But Probably Won't Happen:

1: Another vote for Gargs and Quantum Leap!
2: Fushigi Yuugi and Gargs (please don't throw anything at
me!)
3: Daria and Gargs (ducks again)
4: Seinfeld and Gargs (Goliath and Jerry approach a certain immortal redhead. In a sour, nasal voice that's usually directed at Newman, Jerry says, "Demona." )

That's all I have for now! ** Niamhgold enters before anyone can bust her for her horribly dry sense of humor! **

Re: Crossovers > A well-written "Gargoyles" / "Quantum Leap" fic would be a joy to see, IMO. I can recall reading at least one or two back when I was first exploring the internet and stumbling upon this fandom back in late 1996 / early 1997... but for some reason the plots just seemed to trite and aimed primarily at humor (like the Elisa and Goliath's wedding night idea). It makes me wish sometimes that I remembered "Quantum Leap" better... I wouldn't dare attempt a fic like that without making sure I had a good grasp on all the characters, especially Dr. Sam Beckett.

May Day factoid > The phrase "mayday," associated most often with airplane and ship distress calls, does not derive from the 1st of May celebration, but from the French "m'aiddez," or "help me." It came into heavy use during the First and Second World Wars, where it became phonetically translated into English as "mayday!"

So if you ever see a French dub of "The Fly," Jeff Goldblum will be screaming "Mayday! Maaaaaay-day!" :P

Aaron wanders in, trying not to slip on the blood from Wilek's latest masterpiece. Chibi-Ashram, from Record of Lodoss War, stands on Aaron's shoulder, keeping his chibi-Soul Crusher in Aaron's ear.

Yes, we're here. You can go look for Pirotess now. But no trying to conquer the other chibis. And stay away from the dragons. (Ashram departs) Don't blame me if it takes 300 years.

Had a pretty good weekend. OD'd on anime, partly due to my day off friday, and partly due to the SAAS meeting sunday. Saw some more Brother, Dear Brother, which gets more MiSTable by the ep. Also got to rewatch the first two eps of Those Who Hunt Elves, which are hilarious, (Now that'd be a crossover! Lodoss War and TWHE) and Nausica, Valley of the Wind which... made my butt hurt. Also watched Yatterman, which did worse things.

Disney and Time Warner are feuding, so if you live in New York City; Los Angeles; Houston; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Toledo, Ohio; and small parts of Fresno, Calif., and Philadelphia, that's why you couldn't get ABC this morning.

Archwolf> Just think about how much fun it will be in a few years when you can challenge your old coach to a duel and say: "The circle is now complete. Once you were the teacher, now I am the master."

Warpmind> I would love to try VR Diablo, if I thought my heart could take it. As it is, me playing goes like this: Quiet. Quiet. Quiet. Ahhhhh! F**k me! S**t! Where did all those come from?!? Whack! Whack! Whack! Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Ad infintium. Ad nauseum.

Mara> Nice creativity demon. Maybe I should get Demmie that mug that says "Don't piss me off. I'm running out of places to hide the bodies."

SOROW> Ouch. Sorry about the sunburn. I'm kinda light sensitive too, due to some medication I'm on. And did Scream 3 have anything new in it at the rerelease?

Robby><<Dominique Destine can't look perpetually 20-something and not have the public talk.>> Actually I think Greg put her age at around 35. But it's a good-lookin' 35, no? :)

Coyote> Deputy Dewey is the WCW champion?!? Where's my coat and tights? I know I can take this guy.

Daniel> Action figures. I'd like a set of the Four Horsemen, from my ficverse. I could alway repaint some regular figures for two of them, but for Famine and Death I'd have to find a way to resculpt the bodies.

Kryrn> Sorry you're having a bad week. See you in June.

Later.

I can check off being the first post on my to do list. As a bonus I got the last post on the archived board. Joy to the little things in life that can make me happy. ^_^

DHP> Running me down: I was just adding some suspense. BTW - I'll add to the RP tonight.
Action Figures:
Gargoyles: Brooklyn in FT outfit, Sata, Ariana, Graeme, Liz, Valkyrie robot, Dracon, Elisa disguised as Sally, The Ultapack (latest upgrade), All the fay and unseelies.
Pendragon: The London clan, The Caledonian Clan, Arthur, Emrys, Morgana,
TimeDancer: Meryt, Harthoth, Khensu with break apart Aten, Isafet, and Apep
Dark Ages: Thersites, Asrial, Young Goliath (cause there wasn't enough Goliath figures), Young Demona, The Trio, Othello, Iago, Desdemona, Ajax, Hudson, Deborah, Diomedes, Roland, The Archmage, The Lord Socerer, Brother Edmund, Prince Malcolm, Reynard the fox, Rhodri, Robbie, and the Squid headed monster action figure. (Wilek and James Birdsong> Add me in too!)
I should have agreed just with Warpmind. That should cover most of them. After obtaining all those figures I could cover a room with a large-scale battle. ^_^

RP WARNING!!
**London, England
Now free, the Catholic schoolgirl scouts have entered upon a horrid scene. Pinko scum are holding anticapitalist May Day protests, and they are getting violent. The five girls gatheer to announce themselvees and maintain order.

"To those who dare to attack the free market, you're terror shall end. We are the Catholic schoolgirl scouts and we are ardent capitalists, so cease your attacks on the best market system out there."

The protestors reveal the true cowardly nature of all anti-capitalists and flee, but several are incinerated by the scouts as they run, while the remaining are captured by the police.**
END pro-Free Market RP!!!

Hello one and all. I have been in lurk mode working on my paper for Finance Class, and in tribute to my business major, I decided to attack some scum who caused a lot of damage in London. Click on my name to see the article. Today is May Day, so its good to realize that we won the Cold War and Communism now remains in Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, China (though not really Communism), Angola, Laos, Ivy League Universities, Maryland, and progressive Religious Orders that need to smell the coffee :)

SJ> I agree with you on Elian, and so do all my Hispanic friends from Miami. Now Castro is cocerned that Elian is still in the US and accuses Clinton of keeping them there.

I have another question. If that scumbag Greg Craig is ever nominated to the Supreme Court, will you join me in protesting that pinko liberal commie SOB?

James Birdsong> Beware of Strom Thurmond then. That immortal taught Methos :)

Happy Birthday Caliope and Starsinger

SOROW> That really stinks about the scanner. Maybe you can just say you want to e-mail your pic to a few female friends, like Kit or Starsinger.

Doug> If Joe and SOROW visit, take pics!!!!!!

DPH> What state are you in? Well, I think the pricing below cost needs to be proven as predatory pricing, though. I believe its legal to price below average cost, but not average variable cost.

I think breaking up Microsoft may benefit it depending on hwo it is broken up. Of course, IBM was in a similar situation and by thee time it finally came to Court, the company's edge was worthless and it was in a decline. Microsoft will have its moment and it will go the way of IBM.

As for breaking up monopolies, I think the AFL-CIO should be broken up, too into about five different collectives of Labor Unions and control sold to the five highest bidding US Mafia families :)

::grabs Xena Trek and kisses her even more::

Now, back to Homework. So long!!!

**DC DEATH!**

[Chibi-Vega, Chibi-Edea, Chibi-Alucard, and Chibi-Freddy Krueger (yes he was officially adopted)--march into the room, wearing sashes colored with an odd red-and-white marble pattern. They're joined by several other, new ones--chibis of Archer from Small Soldiers and Ifrit from Final Fantasy 8, both wearing pure white sashes. Wilek wheels in a bound and gagged Mr. Disconnect and tells the two new arrivals, "Gentlemen, this is your target." The sixteen pages of graphic violence that would normally follow are a bit graphic for the room, but it will suffice to say that, after the carnage is over, the new chibi's white sashes are stained with the same red pattern as the others'. So, for that matter, are the walls, floor, ceiling, everyone's clothes...]

A few nights ago, I saw the South Park episode that parodied the whole Elian Gonzales thing. <HEHEHEHEHE> Maybe I should give this show a chance...

SOROW> <<I have some bad news. My parents found out that I want to post a pic on the net for you guys (they're so damn nosy!) and now they've restricted my use of the scanner. Winterwolf> <<I remember hearing something about a Gargoyles movie in production a while back. Mecord> <<Is there a place I can download a gust book?>> I got mine at www.dreambook.com; it's actually on their servers instead of your own site, so that's pretty handy if your site ever moves. ^_^

DPH> <<I'd like everyone's list of crossovers between series that WON'T happen but they'd like to see.>> Hm...
Gargs and Pinky And The Brain
Gargs and Spawn
Gargs and Quantum Leap (try to imagine that guy leaping into Elisa's body on her and Goliath's honeymoon)
Gargs 2158 and Reboot (namely via Cyber Lex, hehehe)
<<bet this has been talked about before but what kind of toys would everyone want for the following spin-off series: a) TimeDancer, b)Pendragon, c)Dark Ages?>>

Maybe the programmers are talking down to us...>> Well, 'cut-and-glue' and 'cut-and-cement' don't quite have the same ring to them. ;P

Todd Jensen> <<Something tells me that this comment room is soon going to be feeling pretty hostile towards televised sports, if it isn't that way already.>> Oh, I know I'm already hostile toward it. Why doesn't ESPN just make another channel instead of allowing other networks to waste airtime on worthless little games...

Christine> <<I sincerely do detest that story. The fact that so many people _like_ it, including my own husband, only makes me feel worse ...>> I think my opinion of it would probably make you feel a lot better. ;)

Katara> <<I'm sad to report that I'm not going to be around here for a while. RL circumstances will be keeping me away indefinately. I'm not even sure that I'll be able to lurk in here. =[>> Oh no! :( Here's hoping you won't be gone as long as you think...

Gside> <<Starcraft: And I forgot to mention my complete action figure collection.>> I have the Zerg Hydralisk figure; I don't think I've ever encountered any of the others...

James Birdsong> <<Dark Ages> Squid headed monster action figure.>> A Cthulhu figure! :D I know I'd buy it...

Coyote> <<[Action Figures] Own works: All of 'em!>> Same here. ^_^

Hey all,
Went to the Festival of Books this weekend. In one word, it was 'fantastic'. Harlan Ellison was hillarious and Ray Bradbury was enthralling.

Got a little puzzle for you. You know that six degrees of separation game. You know the one where Kevin Bacon is the center of the universe. He's one, connect the captains of the four Star Trek series: Kick, Picard, Sisko and Janeway without using Star Trek, Roots or Gargoyles. Enjoy the frustration.

***Kyryn sneaks in***

Yeesh! What a week! I've been running around between the doctor (sick me) and the vet (sick rat) and the auto parts store (problems with Okami's car). Hopefully things will be going better this week, although I've got to go to the hospital today for an ultrasound. They think that I might have an ovarian cyst. Ah well, hopefully the rest of the week will go better.

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful comments on 'A Thought of the Heart'. A whole bunch of us worked hard on this episode. It almost didn't make it into the lineup for a variety of reasons.

Later All!

Winterwolf, don't worry about my running into you.

MS proposed breakup - I'm 100% in favor of it. In my state, we have laws against giving away products for free or selling at below cost.

TOYS - I meant specific toys (ie. all versions of coyote).

Darn, DC still visits me. I'm apologizing right now for any future double posts that might occur.

Every phone in my house has static in it. The only phone jack that doesn't is a long way away and is used only to determine where problem is in the phone line.

**BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA continues**
DPH leaves the portal and realizes he's about to fall in the ocean.

"Damn," thought DPH while summoning a portal to get him out of his predictament, "NCA set me up. I was lucky this time."

DPH landed on the highway but the landing severely damaged the bottom of his car. DPH stepped out of the car and noticed the damage so he summoned a portal to transport his car home. DPH continued on his journey to find an ally.

Winterwolf, don't worry about being run over.

No responses to my sacrastic response about Demona and McBeth not aging. Huh?

Every phone in my house seems to have static in it. There is one spot which does not have static in it but it'll take a long cord to reach there.

BTW, I have a backlog of email from other email addresses (not the one listed) due to disconnection problems.

**BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA**
DPH leaves the portal and realizes he's about to fall into the ocean.

"Damn," he thought while summoning a portal to get out of the situation, "NCA set me up. I have utilize a cloaking spell of some sort. Darn, I don't know any."

DPH lands back on the highway, but the landing tears up the bottom of his car. DPH summons a portal to transport his car back into his garage. DPH decides to walk on foot, but is concerned that next time he won't be so lucky. DPH starts following the ball again.
**END BATTLE FOR TECHNOLOGY SAGA**

Wow, this far without being you know what.

I was thinking about installing a 2nd phone line.

**A hole opens in the wall and Mecord falls out.**

Hi all, just hopping through dimensions thought I’d drop in.

I saw an interesting poster the other day, it read:

“Don’t take life so seriously,
You’ll never get out of it alive.”

Somehow I thought it fitting that I saw it in the window of a dorm room on campus during finals week. :)

Robby>> <I think there's something in the genetics that doesn't allow redheads to tan.> Not far off really. I did a study on this once, a long time ago. Skin and hair pigments are produced by certain types of cells. The pigment itself I think is called melanin. Hair will become lighter if you spend time in the sun because the body produces more pigment for the skin and neglects the hair. People with red and oft times blond hair generally don’t produce as much pigment. Hair color isn’t the cause, just another symptom. Dark haired people have dark hair because they produce lots of pigment. I’m sure you’ll sleep better knowing that. :P

Sorow>> I fell asleep in a raft once with no shirt on in the Utah desert sun. OUCH! Blisters all over my shoulders. I couldn’t wear a shirt comfortably for a month!

Exin>> Sorry you won’t be around for a while, take care.

James>> I’m not sure I’m that kind of immortal. I wasn’t born this way, I became immortal (or will become if you take in the time travel factor involved) by the infusion of magical energy on a cellular level. But then I’ve never had my head cut off so I don’t know how that would affect me. ;)

*****WARNING RP*****
Warpmind entered the cell to find an Elf face down in a pool of blood. Only one Elf? He had the impression there were more. He knelt to take a look at the Elf’s face. Mecord swung a length of chain around Warpmind’s neck and pulled it tight. Raising to a kneeling position Mec had a wild look in his eye.
“Wait!” Warpmind choked.
Surprise and recognition replaced the wild look, “You? The Illuminatus?”
“Yes!”
Mec released the human, “Sorry, I thought you were Raze.”
“I thought you were dead.”
“Um, yes, well I’m hard to kill. Listen, they’ve taken Senthet, to make her the new Quencher, “ Mec’s gaze fell to the floor, “I… need you to save her for me.”
“What? Why can’t you…”
“They’ve taken the Mastergem. It absorbs, focuses, and intensifies energy. With it, even a punk like Raze can rule the world. But I can use it to defeat Mephisto. I have to go after the gem.”
“Think Elf. You’ll never find it down here with out me. Besides, Raze, the gem, and your friend are probably all in the same place.”
“You’re right. Just remember, Raze is mine.”
*****END RP*****

Later.

Winterwolf> <<I liked you last mp3>>: Which one? I put up seven. Though all of Pictures is pretty good.
<<How often do you update>>: Twice weekly, usually Sunday and Wednesday (times vary wildly). This is, of course, dependant on my access to the internet. I have also offered to give out mp3s I have already put up through ICQ (20884812, but I have been keeping it off to save RAM. Maybe once I get a new desktop...) and AIM (gside42) in case you want anything you missed.

Shadowrider> action figures: The ones I have are official from Blizzard. Though it would scare me to see a battlecruiser built to the same scale...

Warpmind> <<Scampers off to find a mutagen that stalls genetic aging>>: You may want to concentrate your search at the ends of the DNA. I read that there is a molecule there that shortens as life goes on.

DPH> static: I would assume static causes many disconnetions, seening how standard modems operate by transmitting data over the same line, and the static would likely contribute to excessive bit rot, which servers don't like and my get fed up with or interpret as a logoff request.

Fire Storm> <<Or is it better to post now, and have my posts future remain unknown>>: I alsways make it a point to go through the old CR to reply to all posts since my last one.

CtB> <<... but will be seen ...>>: Practicing your evilness, are you?
