I'm sorry, but this has been one of the worst weeks of my life. Mainly because it was really hard to go through Valentines Day after I just broke up with my boyfriend and we haven't spoken to each other in four days because I always end up yelling at him when I see him. Now I hate Valentines Day. All this stress I've been getting from him and from dance practice (my girls are giving me a hard time) has caused me to get severe headaches all week and I've had to come home from school a lot just to get medicine. I'm overly emotional all the time now and I most often begin to cry for no apparent reason. My job has me working a lot, mostly until midnight and I can't get sufficient sleep. The only good thing is that my "enemy" and I have begun to talk and things may actually begin to work out. I believe everything is meant to happen so I guess that she and I are meant to reconcile. Today was my mom's birthday but I couldn't go to the movies cause of my headache.
The good things: one of my fellow coworkers asked me out on a date, but I had to refuse because I didn't feel well as usual and I've been having to study a lot lately (well, that's not a good thing). I'm going to receive another award for my gargoyle picture on Monday and this week is TAAS week for underclassmen so I get to sleep in late. I'm sorry to rant on like this, but I haven't had anybody to talk to lately, except my cat and he doesn't talk back. I've missed you all and I hope everyone else had a great Valentines Day. The new pics look really good, and if you've written me an email I haven't gotten it cause my mail won't download. Love ya.

Daniel Johnson: Lets see...
First: I have a SpeedStream 5861
Second: I have a static IP address
Now... HOW THE HELL do I get the router to forward packets to my server???
(IE: How can I get the router to allow my server to use that IP address?)
Napster works. Both ways.
I can make it so I can HTTP and Telnet access the router via the internet, so I know that the IP address DOES work in both directions. (I disable that feature, though. If I keep it on, anyone who enters my IP address can access the command interface for the router. Not good! :)
Corporate Website:
http://www.efficient.com/
The manual (PDF):
http://support.efficient.com/KB/pdf/Efficient_CLI.pdf
What REALLY sucks is that Ameritech ADVERTISED that I could run a website from my static IP address, but ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to help me in any way, shape, or form.
Fun, eh?

Hola, people! A quick post, I'm quite sleepy...
<----This Steel Clan picture isn't bad at all.
Valentine:> Nice to see you, friend. About the message lenght, well...just my own private disturbance paranoia...;)
Dreamie:> ;)...
Jokes apart, nice to see you after a while!
Daniel Johnson:> Thanks for welcoming me back!
Doug:> Thank to you too for the welcome back. Indeed, I am so happy to be here, even for a short time. And, you need not to tank me for the congratulations...
At least a year away? It is quite long...especially, I imagine, for you and Kit. But, I suppose, such a ceremony requires a bit of organization...and, furthermore, as my father usually says, it's always better to do things in the best way, even if it will require a little more time.
Gside:> Thanks for the welcome back. Oh, BTW, I have an MP3 that you could find interesting. The problem is, it is too long to send it via email...any ideas about how to send it to you?
Wilek:> Hi, friend. It's been a long while...
Warpmind:> Too true, my friend, too true...I try to be here every time I can, but service has its duties...and, being considered a reliable element, it is easy for me to be assigned some extra task...every coin has its opposite, isn't it?
On another topic: I read you want to go and stay in the States (bad joke of words...). Hmmm...quite a big change of scenario, I think. I suppose you have your reasons to do so, but I eventually feel to suggest you to evaluate all sides of the thing before taking a definitive decision. I, for me, could never do anything like that. I love my country in spite of its many faults, and I could never leave it...although, I'd like to visit the USA sooner or later...
Conspiracy Theorist, aka...:> Welcome here...I thik you'll feel at home here...;)
Emambu:> I checked my email, and actually there was one from you! Luckily, you told to me about it, 'cause your mail was lost in a bunch of commercials...I was nearly missing it! I'll reply as soon as possible (tomorrow morning...I'm too sleepy now...), for sure I have a lot of things to tell...BTW, nice to see you again!
Jaden:> Nice to hear of you, fellow. About the bombings, and what to think about it...well, we're just soldiers after all...isn't it?
Winterwolf:> Got your email! Reply as soon as possible. Well, currently I have no messenger...I could download one, anyway. Oh, BTW, there's an MP3 you must ABSOLUTELY to have...but it's too big to be sent via email, and it's difficult to find it on Napster. We could arrange a Napster rendez-vous (sp?) if it is right for you...indicatively, tomorrow in the late...let me know something!
Energy reserve in exhaustion. Must close. Tomorrow.

Top ten!
I now own a dog. The poor guy, Spunky by name, was abandoned by his original owner and also apparently was attacked by another dog, leaving a cut on his face that got infected. He now has a tube stuck in there to let it drain. The person who was going to take him couldn't because her dog didn't like Spunky. So my coworkers conspired to fix me up with him. Well, I was thinking about getting another dog. He's extremely friendly and seems to have taken to me quickly. He's medium sized: a Shepard/Collie mix. More importantly, he's already housebroken, has had his shots, and is neutered. I think this will be good for me.

Doug:

Of course it's true; all things are true. That's what the squirrels always tell me. They are the mouths of Satan. But the CIA tries to read my mind to learn the truth but i wrap tinfoil around my head to keep them out and then they tried putting a tracking device in my orange juicethatlookedlikearealroachand... <DC is walking through the CR humming a happy tune. Suddenly a coin flies across his vision. He turns to follow it with his eyes and in that instant what looks like a flashing tube of lipstick lands beside him and blows up, throwing him to the ground. As the gremlin growls and starts to rise back to his feet, several well-placed shots from a Hampton Carbine put him down again. Then, with the grace of a cat, Kitainia lands besind him clad in a very cool 60ish white and yellow bodysuit and large gray sunglasses. She coldly draws a poison-tipped barette and sticks it in the dead DC's scalp to kill him again when he revives before turning to face the CR.> Cyber-cookie to anyone who can guess the extremely cool computer game I've been playing lately. Hint- it's practically the only shooter with a female PC on the market right now. :(

Emmabu: I did not know all those things about Coke. Hmm. I still like it, but water's good too. <shrugs> Tricia said yes. She and Jammer are gonna tie the knot sooner or later. Maybe they'll end up living in a house she designed and he got the permit for building (Tricia wants to be an architect, and Jammer's in law school). **SJ enters the CR dressed in Army fatigues**
Why is Jaden in Korea when he could be bombing things in Iraq.
Well, say what you will about the new President.....but those Bush boys sure do love kicking Iraq ass, don't they? Personally, I think that as soon as Bush left for Mexico, Cheney and Powell got together and said "Hey, just for giggles, let's blow some sh!t up over in Saddam's backyard!"
But I support their decision. It's been far too long since we threw our weight around. Hell, I think the last time we bombed Iraq was like, in '98, and we only did it then because Bill needed to get Monica out of the headlines (for a day at least).
And speaking of Bill....Goddamn. Marc Rich. The White House vandalism. The taking of the White House furniture. The 800 grand business office expense. Playing golf recently at a "whites-only" country club. At this point, with all of the negative press that ol' Bubba is getting, people may begin to mistake him for a Republican. ;)
Water vs. Coke: Well, I'm proud to say that I NEVER drink water. Seriously. I honestly never drink the stuff. I'm sorry, drinking water really makes me almost nauseous. Nothing is more disgusting than drinking a lot of water. I have to be REAL thirsty. I drink lots of fruit juices, and sugary liquids like lemonade, and yes--lots of carbonated beverages. So I'm drinking acid. I've got three letters for you-- BFD. I can handle an ulcer by age 30.
Aaron: Tom I can believe. But Nicole? Nope. She likes to get naked to much. She did that play where she's naked with a guy....she's shown more skin lately in her movies....and then there were the Golden Globes. She presented the award for best male performance in a comedy/musical, which George Clooney won. If you saw the looks she was giving him. Christ, it was like she wanted to eat him alive, just ravish him then and there.
You know, I just thought of something--Clooney gets way too much poon-tang. But I can't hate him. He's just too dreamy, with those big, racoon-eyes of his....
Survivor: A rather lack-luster show this week, I thought. Still, a few thoughts:
1. If one were to look up the meaning of the word "bitch" in a dictionary, Jerri's profile would not just be shown by the word, she'd have a whole freakin' photo layout there.
2. Words can not express how glad I am that Mitchell, the "singer / songwriter", is gone. God, as bitchy as Jerri is, Mitchell was that annoying. Goodbye, skeleton boy.
3. The killing of the pig was BEAUTIFUL. Lord of the Flies, baby! Some have speculated that the pig was only a baby, or that it was domesticated, so that instead of really running away, it came to the camp looking for companionship or food. I don't care. All I know is, I got to see a cool segment where Porky gets to meet Mr. Bowie knife. More of this in the future, please!

Oh wow, take a look at all the new pics. I like. This month really went down the toilet. It was way cold out in the field and on the last day we had the worse snow storm to hit that part of Korea in, oh, about ten years. You'd think that if you knew that a snow storm was coming you might just want to leave the night before so you don't get stuck in it. But no the higher ups decided to wait and let us have four or five hours of pretending to sleep so over 3/4 of the battery was trapped out in the field. I was lucky and I was able to get back to camp before it hit. However those of us who were able to make it back had to shovel snow all weekend because our snow plow was one of the vehichles that got stuck. Not to mention the hummer that ended up in a ditch on three wheels and the Bradley (body looks like a tank) that slide down hill and stopped on its side. So this has turned into a pretty bad week.
Mary Flanders- An admirer. I think that's so cool.
Ordell- They're showing Crusade this summer? AH! I'm stuck here with no sci-fi channel. On DVD? Well that's better.
I really like this Apep pic, but I think I'll stick with Angela or maybe Othello. I figure since everyone is trying new pics I'll check one out.
Shadowrider- I'm a little ticks about the bombs in Iraq, I just don't know what to believe anymore. It's good to hear from you again.

Personally, I like the service. If you don't mind not getting local channels (Mainly UPN and WB), it's pretty good.
Gunjack: <How come you giant, acid-blooded space fiends can't understand the appeal of a good book by the fireside?>
Do you know how hard it is to read a book when your fingers are 18 inches long?
<You shoulda let them complain. T'would be amusing, and it'd be a good lesson about leaping before you look>
True...
<Silly as heck, isn't it?>
Y3$
<Dude, I have been trying for SO LONG to forget that one... *shudders*>
I know. I am evil! :)
<Methinks "Firestorm" would be a good model name for the Mk23 H+ variant... *breaks out the art supplies*>
As long as it is cool and powerfull!
So far there has been a RC car, a drill and a movie using my name in vain! :)
At least the spell in Vampire is the spell to end all spells!
<Perhaps you could use force beams (ie tractors/pressors) to anchor and isolate the implants?>
INTERNAL??? Na... too many headaches! (literally! :)
<Though, it WAS a well written article. I especially liked the last bit...>
I got a good laugh out of it too.
Doug/gside: <I didn't know CDs had that much memory>>: 650 megs.>
I have a nice stack of 700 meg CD-R's right here. Nice what ya can do with a extra 50mb!
Gside: <Absolutely>
Ahhh! It's good to hear that the nations future ITs are working hard at cracking every major security system! :)
<I've finished off the OVAs, and am now working of Season 5 episode 18, 20+. I currently have three rars of 18.>
YEOW! And I am only half way through season 2!
Wilek: <Anything familiar?>
Hmm... Not too much. Fortunately it was a toxic atmosphere planet orbiting a x-ray pulsar. Hell for anything else, but we seemed to like it!
<After taking the samples, we torched them, just to be sure>
Thanks for torching them at the very least.
<We are getting promising results, though, from using fiberous nano-conduits to inject neural interface nanites directly into the brain>
Yeah, but what are you making the nanites out of?
<Granted, our problem is rather less severe>
To put it mildly!
<Hm...something familiar there...There is a species called the metroid that contains atavistic DNA fragments that would produce exactly this creature. It's possible that metroids are an exotic form of xenomorph>
I suppose it is POSSIBLE... The ones I described were little more than a 50 foot wide cellular baloon.
But so few of my children were energy-vores. And the ones that were didn't float.
But anythings possible.
Emambu: <So, in the end you just keep killing generation after generation until finally one comes along and disposes you?>
But thankfully there is the benefit of a absolute monarchy combined with a hive mind.
<That's rough. Well, I'll be rooting for you each time if that makes you feel any better>
Thanks! But I'll try not to make the mistake of allowing them to even HATCH.
<So... any fresh kills in the office recently?>
Let's just say that there is a sharp decrease in telemarketers and idiot bosses in this area.
<A xenomorph with a heart? That's not something you see often>
But I ain't doing poetry... well... again... ok, ok, just not too often.
<I must confess that I will probably never have to kill my offspring like you are forced to>
I pray that you never do. I am sure you will want to, but remember this: It is a felony on this planet. On a few other planets too. Unless you eat them. Then you are a hampster!
<I have no doubt that it breaks your heart in doing what you do, but then... what are your alternatives?>
Adoption is DEFINATELY not a option!
<Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers>
Hell, I drink about 96-128 oz of water a day. at 8oz a glass, thats about... 12-16 glasses a day.
<Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?>
COKE!!!! :)
OH! Saw Pokemon: Jhoto today and saw something that reminded me of my children! A pokemon named Glider did a face-hugger attack!
Aww... brings back such fond memories!
Glad everyone likes the new pictures! LM and I are working on a workaround to getting most of the non-working images working (Yes, Akai and Sailor Ari are some of the lucky images)

*Emambu strolls in wearing a mixed expression of surprise and contentment. Surprise over the changes in the CR. Contentment over his day on Wednesday.*
Great googily-moogily, what happened here? New pics... early wipe? I rather like it (well, the new pictures at least), and maybe the phoenix gate pic will finally work for me. Won't that be nice. *crosses fingers* Please work, please work, please work, please work...
Hope everyone here had a happy Valentine's Day. Judging from some of the posts I'm going to assume so. :) Wednesday was miserable weather-wise over in Pittsburgh. My classes were unusually boring. I actually fell asleep in my math recitation. Plus, all attempts at being cordial fell flat. Obviously, everyone had better things to do. Annoyed I head back to my dorm room and do some homework before choir practice. That comes and goes, and now it's about 9:30pm and I'm starting to feel good again. After all, the choir meets at Fuel and Fuddle (it's a college style restaurant- Archwolf would know what I'm talking about on the off-chance he's reading this) every Wednesday just as a hang out of sorts. Usually I can't go because I'm doing work but I had a free night essentially. I figured it would be a nice change of pace. So I go down there around 10:00pm since that's when everyone comes. We basically get the basement section to ourselves. So I head on downstairs, and there's one guy there. No problem, I think to myself. People should be coming down soon. Wrong. After ten minutes the one guy gets up and leaves. I sit down there, by myself for about 20 minutes, watching the Penguins, before giving up. So at about this point, I'm thinking that this has been a really crappy day: rain, no one to talk to, and then the one time I'm free on a Wednesday night no one shows up. Great. So now I'm heading back up and getting ready to leave, go back to my dorm room, and sleep. As I'm exiting though, I see one of my friends walk in with his girlfriend in tow. Now, I'd heard about his girlfriend almost constantly, but I'd never met her. At this point though, I really didn't want to but we kind of ran into each other so I had to. Now, I was prepared to just exchange pleasantries and leave. But that's not what happened. Instead, she just looked at me for a second and then her eyes kind of lit up and she exclaimed, "I know you!" ...Well, at this point my eyes did this: O_O. Like I said, I'd heard my friend talk her about but I'd never met her. She then explained, "You're the one I heard at the winter concert. You were in that quartet singing Ave Maria. You have the best voice!" She then slapped her boyfriend on the arm lightly and said, "See honey, this is the guy I was telling you about, the one with the amazing voice." If my eyes had gotten any bigger at this point, they would have ruptured. So we talked for a few minutes about singing and naturally I invited her to our two big concerts in March and in April. Then we excahnged names and that was that. I walked out, went back to my room, and went to bed. So, crappy day that ended on a high note. I can deal with that. :)
Website's back up finally. Still don't have an e-mail account yet but I'm just happy it's up again. Unfortunately, the main site, the site that's been hosting us for good while, may not be so fortunate. This will be an interesting couple of weeks. *sigh*
And that's enough babbling from me. On to something a little more useful...
Mary: Any closer to finding that admirer of yours? BTW, if you want some help with Trig functions you could always drop me a line. I won't guarantee anything... but it can't hurt.
Stephen: Glad you liked it, even if it wasn't that long (to my knowledge it was only a paragraph). Three smilies in one line? Must have done something right. :) Glad to hear you had a nice Valentine's Day with Heather. My congratulations on your growing relationship. *reads further* You got a job? Kick ass!!
Doug: Cool, seven years in Taiwan. Wait... didn't they make a movie about that starring Brad Pitt? :) BTW, I used you and Kit as a reference, but I don't think it was successful. I think it was the fact that neither Dom or Neely know who you guys are. :) *shrugs* Oh well, I'll keep trying. Glad to hear things are working out at work for once. Two guys doing their jobs to one who's complaining. You're still coming out ahead. :)
Gunjack: I know I should feel bad for you, but you tell the story in such an amusing way. It was done in a style that reminded me of one of my good friends back in Philly, Brad Rosen. :) Seriously, that does suck. I hate it when everything seems to work against you. My morning was all right since you're asking. I took a calculus exam. :) *reads further* Well, actually... we haven't beaten the crunch after all. The main site (the one hosting us) is collapsing under its own weight. We have one month to try and find another sit to host us (unless someone wants to provide the main site with a T1 connection for free... anyone?). Fortunately, our site's a bit smaller so we have a better chance but even still... I'll let you know in a month I guess. I don't mind if you don't have any pics. Since I have no e-mail, I'm back to using my crappy hotmail account. :(
Gside: Bell tower? What... oh wait, I get it. Cute. Very, very cute. *reads further* Jedi Knight mods... eh, close enough. It's reviews really but I guess that's good for having been there once for 30 seconds. I'll make sure to put you on the contributors list when we reach 500,000 visitors. :) BTW, don't feel too slighted. I wasn't glomped either, though perhaps that ends up working in my advantage. Hmmm... Barry Manilow? But that guy puts to sleep. Wait... that's a good thing. I need sleep.
Warpmind: Sounds like a good deal to me. :) What is Norway's currency anyway? And what's the exchange rate? Hmmm... Christine has Illuminati pins for sale? Interesting. BTW, have you talked to that guy since you blew his mind with your own pin? I'd be interested in hearing how he acts around you now. ;)
Christine: Not a problem. I'll give a few more at the end of this post. 6 inches of snow, huh? I think we've gotten six inches of rain in this week alone. :) Just look at this experience as a way of getting in touch with your inner child. ;)
Firestorm: So, in the end you just keep killing generation after generation until finally one comes along and disposes you? That's rough. Well, I'll be rooting for you each time if that makes you feel any better. So... any fresh kills in the office recently? *reads further* A xenomorph with a heart? That's not something you see often. I must confess that I will probably never have to kill my offspring like you are forced to. Being a simple human, my role as a parent will be to ensure my children's success in life, and to have them carry on the legacy of my name. I have no doubt that it breaks your heart in doing what you do, but then... what are your alternatives?
BTW, thanks for posting the Heromachine link. I'm having a lot of fun with that personally. :)
NukesGoBoom: (Great name BTW) Welcome to the CR! As you have already noticed, sanity is not welcome here. Dispose of any you have lest Warpmind or Wilek grabs hold of you. :) Hmmm.. you have a birthday this Tuesday? Well, if I don't post again by then... Happy early Birthday! Woo... newbie birthday! *cheers* Ahem... in any event I don't play either of those two games (I play Starcraft's predecessor Total Annihilation) but there are several who play Diablo 2 if I'm not mistaken. Oh yeah, and my AIM name is Emambu (original, ain't it?) :)
Winterwolf: Oh sure, you want me to believe you're kidding, don't you? You want me to be lulled into a false sense of security so I can fall victim to whatever you and Dreamie have planned. Well I'm on to your little game! And on that note... see you guys in 2002. :) Just be warned, I may wear my Phantom of the Opera mask so as to hide my identity. :) Also, I don't want to appear to be pressuring you, but yeah, if you're able to, you're more then welcome to come to the performance... wherever we end up singing. I didn't get the "Vincent" solo (drat) but there are two others I'm trying out for. We'll see what happens. You can bring the missus with you too, make it one whole big family trip. :)
SOROW: I know this is probably far behind by now, but I hope you feel better. Accidents happen, and seems like no one thought you had ruined the party. As for the enemy... well, you want I should make some calls and have a few friends of mine take this person for a ride? :)
Jannie: Those pictures were great! Thanks for sharing them. My congratulations to both you and to your son.
Caliope: Only if the pastries are shaped to look like Gargoyles. :) Actually, I guess you don't need a special reason to be hyper or happy, especially someone as upbeat as you. I'll tell you though, your boundless enthusiasm is very contagious. You should write a book about it. You can call it, "The Art of Happiness: WEEEEEEEEEEEE!" by Caliope. You'll sell millions. :) Heck, I'd buy a copy. *reads further* Strawberry powdered Jell-O? At last... a way to buy amphetamines without having to go to K&A (that's a Philadelphian joke)!
Mandolin: My deepest condolences. I more then agree that the Internet can be a great way of forging new and lasting friendships *looks at Warpmind and Lynati* I can think of a few people, whom I've never met before in my life, that I consider to be good friends. I can't think of losing them.
Lain: Have fun in England. Hopefully, you'll bring back a humorous story or two. I remember having a lot of fun while was over there. *reads further* land of Perpetual Showers? methinks you are confusing England with Pittsburgh. :) BTW, I like the idea of a friendship bracelet but I'm not very good at making one myself. Heck, I don't even think I have the necessary materials to make one. Plus, I don't have much anything of value to offer you (except for some books). :)
Wilek: Yeah! I mean, with your imagination, I'm sure you could have come up with something. :) Define "bad?" Ok: "Bad," adj. 1.Not achieving an adequate standard; poor.
2.Evil; sinful.
3.Disobedient or naughty.
4.Disagreeable, unpleasant, or disturbing.
5.Unfavorable.
6.Not fresh; rotten or spoiled.
7.Injurious in effect; detrimental.
8.Not working properly; defective.
9.Full of or exhibiting faults or errors.
10.Having no validity; void
That enough? :) *reads further* Lessee... I have a sunny disposition and I'm kind to animals. Really though, I'm more of a people person, especially when it comes to destroying their minds. :)
Dreamie: Not a problem. You might like the scene towards the end between Lithgow and Scheider. It's very Seinfeld-esque, and I believe this movie came out before Seinfeld. *reads further* @_@ That's it... I'm bringing my scissors. No net shall hold me! :) As to the answer to your question: yes, you get your fish. However, the priests are allowed to slap you across the face with it in an attempt to wake you up (That's in the bible somewhere... probably in Leviticus). :) Lastly, I can't see your pic! Grrr... I want to see your pic. If it's less then 1mb can you e-mail it to me, please?
*reads Loves Dreamie's post* Wow... that was beautiful. Talk about a special poem. I wonder who that was?
Kitainia: I'll take it from the smiley face that you knew I was kidding when I said the if there's a girl on the horizon, she's in Buenos Aires, metaphorically indicating that she's on the _distant_ horizon. :) I agree with you about Dom and Neely. Actually, she wants to get married, drops hints all the time too. But my brother, much as I love him, much as he can be a smooth talker with women, I think he's a little scared. :) Thanks for you congratulations on my choir position, and I'm glad to hear that things are slowly smoothing out at Doug's work area. may it stay that way for a while. Finally, don't keep us int he dark. What happened with Jammer and Tricia? Should I be extending my congratulations to them as well?
ironwolf: Welcome back!!
Hyperion: Not sure how I missed you last time, but it's good to see you posting as well. :)
Niamhgold: *receives hug and then gives one right back followed by one of those vermont teddy bears* I hope you had a happy Valentine's day, and that your work load lightens up enough for you to post. Also, I hope your tendon has healed (it was the Achilles tendon, wasn't it?). Extra luck this semester though with your artistic skills you probably don't need it. :)
Aaron: Well, we dispatched LA for you, and the Spurs won tonight as well. Maybe Jack Ramesy was right all along: Sixers and Spurs in the finals. ;) BTW, you're not Wilek yet. Your posts aren't even close to his length.
Daniel Johnson: I'm diggin that Apep pic. :) I'm not sure what happened to Cyborg or Curly++. The latter disappeared while we were having a discussion about Blade Runner
Ryan: Welcome! Stick around and post some more.
Shadowrider: He's back! *does dance* Wow... I guess it has been five weeks hasn't it? I sent you an e-mail just after you left last time. I'm not sure if you got it. I hope to hear from you before you leave (my main account's down so if you have the time you'd need to use my Hotmail account). I'm sure you have some stories and events that have happened within the last few weeks. Oh, and that Brooklyn & Sata pic fits you very well. :)
Coyote: Why would you kill DC for crashing the UofA network. After all, you live in Michigan so it doesn't make... much... sense... Oh, I get it. :)
Republican Woman: I love conspiracy theories. Anyone watch Fox on Wednesday (or was it Thursday) when they talked about whether or not the moon landing was a hoax? That cracked me up. :)
G.I.R: Uhhh... someone want to clue me in on this, what it is?
Here... I found this amusing. I'm not sure how much of it is real or whether some of you have already seen it. I'll just take that risk: :)
Water Vs. Coke
WATER - We all know that water is important but did you know that:
1) 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world pop.)
2) In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3) Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4) One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.
5) Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6) Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7) A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
8 )Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?
COKE - No wonder coke tastes soooo good:
1) In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2) You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
3) To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and.......Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
4) To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
5) To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6) To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7)To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8 )To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
FYI:
1) The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.
2) To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material placards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
3) The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?
**********SABLEDRAKE SPOILERS**********
Not much to say this time around because I didn't have time to read much of it. I enjoyed the comic strip "Invaded." Although I couldn't pull any romantic analogies out of thin air, I did find it witty and enjoyable though a bit long. My favorite line, "Oops." It was all in the timing. :) It's an interesting concept: stupid aliens. Usually, extraterrestrials are advanced, mysterious, or threatening. These guys could put Lenny and Squiggy to shame. :) It was refreshing. The artwork was simple but got the message across. Detail was given only when necessary, but this minimalistic style seemed to add to the absurdity and lightheartedness of the whole thing. I did think it was a bit long. Some of the jokes, towards the end, continued to be explained long after we got the joke, but it was still a great job overall by Terry Whisenant. It almost looked like an ongoing series from the way it ended. I was kind of expecting more.
Christine Morgan's excerpt "A Soldier's Tale" asks the question: How far would you go for love? The protagonist (I'm tempted to say hero but this isn't the full story so I can't be sure of that) in this part, Karandis, also known as Karan Thorn, must ask himself that question. We learn early on that he is not who he says he is. In reality, Karan is an elf masquerading around as a human soldier, a spy in a sense. He happens to meet a human dancer by the name of Rosalyn. He's attracted to her wonderful voice, and she in turn is attracted to the mysterious nature that hangs off of him. From then on out, the story follows a very straightforward path of romance filled with secrets and strife. The war theme that constantly looms in the shadows allows for some nice scenes at the end. Fortunately, despite the fact this style has been done dozens of times before in books and movies, I still found myself enjoying it. Why? Two things: detail, and dialogue (but primarily the detail). The scene descriptions and imagery are wonderfully rich and keep the reader's attention throughout. I loved the battle at the end and the savage realism within it. Karan as a character was very predictable but fun to watch just the same. Pretty much everything he did was something I was expecting him to do: try very hard to not get intimately involved because it could only cause trouble, admit that he's in love, go against his race for his love of Rosalyn, force her to leave while the battle was raging, etc. Still, it was fun to watch him try not to fall for her. I don't pretend to understand the angst between the elves and the humans (especially when it looks like their on the same side), but the conflict building up within Karan over his secret means that there is a history between the two races. It set the tone, and made his emotions seem much more genuine. The dialogue was fluid and at times witty, despite the fact that it, like the Karan, was predictable as well. Overall, a fun read that has left me wanting to know more about this universe.

Three things.
Wilek! You... POSTED! Again!
... O.O
Either you're caught in a time warp, or something fishy's going on...
Gside/Coyote/DPH - For the record, I thought the Ugly Morning was absolutely hilarious (in retrospect, which is where I wrote the rant from). It sucked to live through, but it's a hilarious story, ne'? Kinda like the Hippy Greyhound Ride From Hell I took a few summers ago.
I always wanted to be the Ancient Mariner....
Ooo! And I've been getting mail! Yesterday it was snacks and silvery-shineys, today it was nifty pictures (the Terrorist angel ROCKS!) and concentrated nonlinear thought. Things are shaping up for a good day... :D

Hmm. distractions kept me away yesterday.
**WARNING**
I found something old in my room. Once upon a time in a land far, far away, just joking. I found a notebook in which I copied my blackjack program for TI-85 into the pages. Yep, the program actually worked. The hardest two parts as I recall were figuring out how to shuffle the deck RANDOMLY and coming up with all those equations for the graphics. In the notes, I found the graphics part of my program. I also found in the notebook plans for a calculator game of Squash. I don't remember if I finished it or not. I can not follow my own logic for the code because it has been such a long time. If anyone wants the notes, speak up.
**END WARNING**
boy, cleaning up room brought me into contact with objects that were important part of a life seemingly a lifetime ago. Yet, that can't be possible considering I'm only 24.
Daniel Johson - Frankly, I do not know why we are not using a 3d graphical user interface for computers by now, instead of having menus like crazy. I would not mind having to explore a castle to find certain programs.
DPH flashes out his ITAG pin for a brief moment and then conceals it again.
Conspiracy Theorist - Are you paranoid if people are really out to get you?
James Birdsong - Hahaha. I stole my jar of sanity. I just haven't figured out how to transfer my sanity back into my consciousness.
**BFTS RP continues**
DPH is quickly brought to the medical bay of ITAG HQ. Specialists arrive to begin scanning DPH's body.
**END BFTS RP for now**

This is a nice pic. :)
Wilek: Whoops, I did it again! Thanks for the correction. Sociopaths see people as objects, schizophrenics hear voices. I have it right now. (All the terms in psychology drive me nuts btw. It's easy for me to talk to people and help them sort things out, but I don't like classifying them mainly because I can't remember all the categories. :( ) We don't mind your archiving at all- glad that someone's doing it. :)
Warpmind: Doug will send you an e-mail about the security job soon. You are coming to live in Austin, right? There are many nice places in America, Austin's just one. If you want to join Doug's company, you also might want to think about whether you mind working nights for 10-hour shifts. That's where they need someone right now (the guy doing it right now is nothing but a lazy excuse-making thug). Doug'll e-mail you tonight and tell you more. I too have noticed a love epidemic going around, and welcome it. :) Jammer and Tricia have been meant for each other for a long time- there's no question about it. They remind me of Xander and Cordelia, minus the Willow to mess things up, on emotional crack. Their first Halloween together they got in a huge argument and to settle things he ended up dressing as Kenny from South Park and she as a 'serial killer' who got to stalk and 'murder' him in various ways involving paintball guns, speeding cars, water balloons, big fake knives, and other nasty things all day. Any guy who would let a girl do something like that to him, and put up with it, must love her madly. And things have only gotten deeper for them in the many months since, just like for me and Doug. :) You ought to have seen her response to Jammer's proposal, though. It was a riot. "Will you marry me, Trish?" "What?" "Will you marry me?" <pause> "Maybe." <Jammer's patented panicked tone> "Maybe?!!" <Tricia's patented sly grin> "I'll tell you in the morning." Then she kissed him and they left the club hand in hand. We later learned the answer was yes. :)
James: And some of us have never been sane. And are very proud of it. <grin>
<shakes her head at the cartoons on TV this morning> Leave it to Pokemon to make superheros extremely lame. <grrr...>

I think I'll choose Matt's picture as mine, nobody else seems to be using it.
Okaaaay... I've made my debut here. And as a conspiracy theorist {though that isn't too far off...} My alias here will be "Conspiracy Theorist", since it is pretty close to what I am. Anyways, I am basically a conspiracy theorist, I make pages, write editorials, etc, on political conspiracies. Why? Because I hate politicians and because I love to read the e-mails from the people who visit my pages and read my comments. The fruitiest people on the net are those people, and I love reading their idiotic rants that they send me, not realizing that the pages are done for humor's sake. Basically, I'm a female in her late teens with an odd sense of humor and WAY too much time on her hands. I'm also a long-time Gargoyles fan, though I have a lot of catching up to do on TGS, since it's been roughly a year or so since I've read any of it. Fav character? Matt Bluestone.
Daniel Johnson>< **Don't ya just love conspiracy theorists? >:)** It's true! It's true I tell ya!
Kaioto>< **Yeah ... bizzare and off-topic, to be sure ... but conspiracy theory ... well, that's pretty much tame for some of the weirdness that goes on in here on a regular basis.;-)** I wouldn't be too sure about that... There's much you folks don't know about what goes on inside the Whitehouse...
Jannie>< **nods I’ve seen this list before… scary, huh?** Yep, truly terrifying. Though the scariest part about it is that any one of us could be next ::Jaws theme begins to play in the background::
Wilek>< **I could do something amusing with the song "American Woman" here, but I'll let it slide. ;P** I'm happy to meet you too. =)
Warpmind>< **Conspiracy theorist my butt. We're no theorist in here. We ALL conspire in one way or another. ];)** So I've noticed... But what it is you conspire about I have yet to figure out.
Anyways, see ya guys later! Unless Clinton's hit men get to me first...

One of those days... over 24 hours without sleep, and when I finally begin walking homewards, tired enough to almost doze off in the street, I inhale oxygen once, and my brain goes from analog to digital in a heartbeat... *Sigh* No sleep for me yet...
Christine: But why bring up the classics when I can build up trust and then NUKE IT? The look on the poor paranoid's face is priceless - I'm evil, but oh! it's such fun. ;)
Daniel Johnson: Hehehe... but the sword is stealthy... and great to cut pizza with, too. ;)
Ironwolf: Ah. Gotcha. Not that it helps much - I'm STILL not getting the show. :(
Doug: So, Tricia's given Jammer her "Yes"? Hmmm... You and Kit, me and Lynati... Valentine and Lain... Damn, this seems like an epidemic. And all is well with the world. ;) But on a more serious note: My mind is set to move to the US permanently after G'01 (in other words, Im gettin' to the US, I'm NOT going back), and I've got a question... think you could look into helping me team up with your security team? Hmmm... on closer thought... could you e-mail me a response, and we'll discuss it thusly?
Republican Woman: I believe it was Winston Churchill who said that politics are more dangerous than war. In war you can only die once, while in politics you can die many times. To which Grimtooth responded that he knew there was something he liked about politics. ];)
Conspiracy theorist my butt. We're no theorist in here. We ALL conspire in one way or another. ];)
Shadowrider: My friend, we see far too little of you these days...
Aaron: Tsk, for shame... I can recommend'em...
GXB: Neo-Nazis or jerk in your area, too? Sheesh, he's dead, but he just won't lie down... :(
Gunjack Valentine: Hey, anytime, amigo. Can't let my pet project - the Emotionless Assassin Project - fall through for something so trivial as a depression, hmmm? ];) Oh, and Lynati and I are "Lovely Ladies"? And I WILL do better than the Cockney dialectizer. That... was just Phase 1. ];) And you say I don't lack enthusiasm? We must do something about those diplomatic inclinations of yours... ];) But you're right. *Adds the point "Teach Wilek the finer points of appreciating females" to the Nereus Project agenda.*
Mary Flanders: Some people like you choose to move from the US for career reasons, some people like me move to the US for career (and tax and love) reasons... There's an eerie balance there... ;)
James Birdsong: You refer to yourself as the token sane guy, yet you have Asperger's... you do realize there are at least three of us with the diagnosis here, possibly one or two who should be tested? ;) But the coordination thing is right - that's partly why I type EVERYTHING!
Gside: The point of the crates is that they make crate cover for shoot-outs. (I know someone's gonna hurt me for that pun...)
Wilek: Don't trust the androids. We don't have the fear module perfected yet. The couriers, however... they've got this nice little high explosive implanted in the base of the skull... and I have the remote trigger. ];) And the tentacles will probably regenerate in time, unless... *Peers over edge to tentacle pit* Hey, guys! *Shows tentacles a map. Tentacles vanish.* There. Sent'em to a campus where they'll make themselves appreciated and useful... Don't ask. ]:)
Well, that's about it. *Leaps back to the Mistletoe Room.*

<looks around at the updated CR> Bravo. :) Me only problem now will be deciding which pic to use...
Kit> <<It's not that bad, Wilek. Starr isn't really a dickhead. He just acts like one all the time. And then in Issue 24 (I think) Jesse cuts a line across his bald head the scarring from which creates many an opportunity for insult...>> I stand corrected. :) <<Schizophrenic- clinically it's someone who sees people as objects>> I thought that was sociopathic? <<Your bits on the tentacles I could somehow tolerate- you made them amusing. I don't know how, but you did. You seem to do that with a lot of gross weird horrifying things, I wonder how you accomplish it. <grin>>> :) I think it's because I see everything as an opportunity to amuse myself, and hopefully others. <<a Hate Mail Valentine Bomb for DC>> Die, Die, My Darling! >;) <<CYBER-COOKIE TO ANYONE WHO CAN POINT OUT AT LEAST THREE OF THE MANY IN-JOKES IN THE PARAGRAPH FEATURING DUKE NUKEM.>> All I got was the steroid thing...but then, I've only ever played the shareware version. (BTW, check out http://pc.ign.com/news/31527.html. I hope Duke packs the REALLY big guns; you have to kill a T-rex in one shot or you'll just tick it off.)
Warpmind> <<No way of... amigo, is it just that you don't trust the postal services?>> Pretty much the only Internet entities that have my address are Fandom Shop and Game Music Online, and only because there are things there that I couldn't find in stores. O_o <<'Cause if that's it, I could have an Illuminati courier drop by your place to retrieve it. (One of the lower-level stooges, of course, with more ambitions than brains. Just to ensure he'd not note down the address for later use...)>> Nice, but...how 'bout me sending a courier droid? With a self destruct mechanism? :) <<Though, since there don't exist any visual records, the idea seems redundant... *Grmf* Wait, polaroids? ];)>> They were wiped out too. O_o <<There's a debate on Hentai Tentacles going on and you're talking about PLANTING THE FIRST SEED?>> New tentacles? Where?! WHERE?! <readies a plasma thrower> Those things grow FAST; if I don't torch 'em before they mature, this will start all over again...
Lady Corax> <<And you're exactly right about the Zora mask...that thing is SO darn cool! My brother actually let me swim around with it on during his game, and I swear, that thing was so spiffy!>> ^_^ I can just hear Link saying, "Eat THIS, Ecco!" :P <<Well, less than 24 hours till the big V-Day...anyone got anything cool planned? :)>> Same thing I do every night, Pinky: Try to take over the world!
Spacebabie> <<The goodnews about the rash is that its only from an allegic reaction to that mane and tail shamppo...You know the kind that was oirginally for horses but people use it too?>> O_o OK...Glad it cleared up that easily, at any rate...<<::Begins to Glomp the guys. Glomps Winterwolf,Sevarius Jr,Pissy,Warpmind,Wilek,Gunjack,Todd, the Daniels,Robby,Coyote,Aaron,Greg, and Kaito...>> <as Peter Venkman> Ray. It's. Looking. At. Me.
Todd> <<And I assure you that I'm perfectly sane. You can't always judge a person by his company.>> True. Guess you're the rare exception to the rule of sanity equaling a lackluster life of the mind. ;)
FS> <<Did that a long time ago with one brood of eggs. Not exactly sure when, where, or which multiverse, so I can't exactly check up on them :(>> Wait a minute...Computer, retrieve the astrogation records for Exiguus 3A. [A holoscreen appears, showing an M-class moon of a grey and black Jovian planet.] Anything familiar? <<Are you sure?>> They were cloned from a clutch of eggs some poor sot left on Nar Shadaa. After taking the samples, we torched them, just to be sure. <<But, the alterations are nice!>> :) We're also doing promising things with pterosaur and plesiosaur DNA. It's gonna be fun trying to get them under control...<<GFL. The longest thing that I have seen was a nice titanium-silicon-lithium alloy. Lasted pretty long before disolving (10 seconds).>> Yikes. O_o We are getting promising results, though, from using fiberous nano-conduits to inject neural interface nanites directly into the brain. <<The mucus is what keeps us together. And, for some reason, it is an insulator, not a conductor.>> A lot of more conventional life forms have a similar problem--the stomach's own acids would cause it to digest itself if not for the constantly-replenished layer of mucus the lining generates. Granted, our problem is rather less severe. O_o <<GIVEN, those children were pretty passive... and hydrogen based... and were big blobs of cellular matter that was basicaily a baloon that absorbed other creatures from the planet... and they can only survive in a atmosphere with 50,000x the pressure of this one, containing absolutely nothing heavier than oxygen...>> Hm...something familiar there...There is a species called the metroid that contains atavistic DNA fragments that would produce exactly this creature. It's possible that metroids are an exotic form of xenomorph...<<OH! Before I forget (again), has anyone in here played Vampire: The Mascarade - Redemption (I am mainly talking about the PC Game)>> I have (in fact, I have the special/limited/collector's edition), but I got stuck somewhere and it's been so long that I may have to start over, since I don't even remember what I was supposed to do next. O_o
Dreamie> <<I've been talked into posting a link to my latest commission...:::cringes and covers her eyes::: Be gentle>> It's...me. Or rather, Ranma me. O_o It's really cool. Weird, but cool. 8)
Gside> <<www.crfh.net>> Thank you. :) <<So, because nature abhors a vacuum, Gunjack's now becoming you?>> My gods. O_o <<It is a cultural phenomenon started by Gabe and Tycho at Penny Arcade.>> I've been looking for an excuse to effect a Visitation over there...<readies a Cruxshadow stealth fighter> <<Good answer. I never knew she was a succubus.>> At the moment, I think she's actually a camel waiting to happen. O_o <<Riff.>> <as the March Hare> Good answer. Wrong, but good. :) Actually he reminds me more of me...I think it's the Atari shirt. O_o <<Well, there is that whole bishonen, yaoi thing going on over in the anime area. I'm nigh positive it's mostly supported by female efforts.>> Huh. o_O I have to admit, if I ever figure that whole thing out, I think I will know everything there is to know about the human mind...<<Yup, reinventing comics. Focuses mostly on how to get better public reception of comics in the public eye, teh business of comics, and the effects of the net on comics.>> Wow...sounds even better than the first one, if such a thing is possible. O_o <<www.bobandgeorge.com>> Thanks again. v^_^ <<I find it interesting that the porn industry is essentially the frontrunner in video compression and online distribution technologies.>> Ughh...I think I remember reading something to the effect that the porn industry was indirectly responsible for the popularization of the VCR. Granted, that was back when technology wasn't especially trusted, but after reading that, I was very glad to abandon the VHS format. <<True, but I've had a good enough amount of the former, and I do need some way to work off the hormones.>> Meditation and technological studies. Failing that, telepathic intervention. Failing that, chocolate (the best way to get rid of an addiction is to replace it with a more beneficial one). <<But it's always nice to have some minor ceremony. Let them know you care about the little people.>> True, but there isn't always time for that, hence the droids. <<Ah. But isn't the point of that one that it blends with the 1ups, except for the skulls (if I remember)?>> I like to think that the 1-ups evolved or were engineered from the poison ones. <<But it's a different kind of art. An art, not of how it looks, but of how it behaves.>> I like to integrate the two. <<I have no doubts. And I always root for the Cids.>> You'll adore 9's version of him then; if I'm not mistaken he's the ruler of Lindblum. <<Nope, webcomic ( www.narbonic.com ).>> Thanks yet again. :) <<In modern clothing? With the filename amee.jpeg? Note: I don't remember the name exactly, but I feel confident it was similar.>> Oh. O_o <<he has a laser guided radial arm saw. And every joint he does (that we see) fits perfectly.>> Fascinating imagery, that. "Dude, don't bogart the doobies. And will you please get a *normal* prosthetic? I'm sick of having these counters resurfaced every time you fix a sandwich." <<it is also important to remember it is an offshoot of the oldest profession.>> What does porn have to do with lawyers? <<Epidemic? Don't you mean renaissance?>> Actually, epidemic pretty much covers it. O_o <<I hear commando style is somewhat popular nowadays.>> Commando...? <ponders the merits of trading red silk for camouflage print> <<Maybe if we hire out Pavlov. Every time he behaves properly, we had over a little more power.>> I can acquire power without it being handed to me. >:) What one is not given, one *takes*...<<We need to show him just how good the downtime is for proper functioning of the brain.>> During any kind of downtime, my brain is in the habit of wondering into places that make me want to rip it out of my head and stomp that sucker into a fine paste. O_o
Gunjack> <<Geez, Wilek, think you used enough peewees?>> Actually, no. I created the pit as the initialization chamber for the propulsion fibers of the three-stage rocket that I have spent the last eighteen months building under the CR in order to turn it into the solar system's foremost orbital military power. But just my luck, it gets infested with those vile little beasts *and* I forgot to seal the chamber's access causeway. Once more, with feeling: [Wilek tosses another nuke bandolier into the now-properly functioning chamber and remembers to close it this time. An incredible rumbling is heard and felt, and fairly soon, the view from the windows becomes truly spectacular.] Wait a minute. Ah crud, did anyone fix the ceiling? <<So, how did YOUR morning go? ; )>> My Japanese Gigatron Transformer and American McGee's Alice figures arrived. But somehow I get the feeling that this is not what you wanted to hear right at the moment. O_o <<What, you can't handle a Kasumi-sweet Valentine?>> Not when he's talking about things that should make him fly into a homicidal berserker rage. You had a bit of a Wednesday Addams moment there. O_o <<Well, there's this thing called the Post Office>> Which, when using the Internet to acquire addresses, isn't secure enough for my liking. <<an Iron Witch is a concept that's making a pest of itself.>> Huh. I thought it was a rather interesting weapon. O_o <<I was refering more to games like "Jersey Devil" and "Gex"... ; P>> Ahh, the BAD 3D platformers. <<See, this is why I love it here. The comradery, the atmosphere, the constant threat of horrible disfigurement and/or messy death...>> :) I'm glad OSHA doesn't know about this place. <<I doubt I can find it on mp3.>> o_O Um...what format do you have it in? And if you don't, then what musical is it from? <<Neural interface, through nodes in the spine and limbs, plus a simplistic AI to run autonomous weapons nd piloting.>> Cool. I do think there should also be nodes connected to the sensory lobes of the brain, though, for more efficient tactical readouts. <<You've got to NOOOW theese theeengs!>> No, my R&D and tactics departments do. ;) <<I actually tried this in a dream a few nights ago (NOT kidding).>> I wish I had that level of control over my dreams. O_o My most recent had a terribly Freudian bit involving a multiwarhead ICBM that I could have done without...<<Try burning if you get a chance, or else use a minigun.>> Thanks. :) I would think that near-molecular-level discorporation would also be effective...now if only I could bring a scission crasher into my dreams. o_O <<Do we at least get to run covert ops into our "allies'" territory?>> With their cooperation, as part of wargames. <<Honestly, this is one of the better webcomics on the net. I think you'd appreciate the humor.>> I've actually had time to check out Narbonic and one or two bits of Bob'n'George since my last post, and I've seen enough of the former to decide that it well and truly rocks. 8) Miss Narbon is my soul mate...<<You're a nice guy and all, but I'd hate to think that my left arm was technically your son... o.O>> Even more disturbing, that would make you the mother. <readies a cattle prod> Methinks the good doctor is in need of a reminder not to take liberties with his bosses' DNA. <<Information usually is... : P ...BTW, Lain, you EVER gonna tell me what I missed?>> Ouch. Want me to send a telepath to retrieve the prize...? <<it's like saying that some guy who managed to win the olympics was actually a cyborg. It makes you wonder how much was him, and how much was his innate advantages...>> I don't know...competitive sports are one thing; leadership is quite another...<<You mean you AREN'T reduced to helpless laughter when someone mentions sucky games and/or systems?>> Hakuna matata. <shrug> <<See how good it is to have me on Weps R&D? That's two weapons in as many sentences. ; )>> I knew this would be cool. 8) <<Wang is an addictive mental disorder wan- CREATED by the proprietors of the Penny Arcade. Fear for your wang. Life.>> It IS the new Virus. O_O' I really must attend to this...<<Needles, not pins. Like quills.>> Wouldn't that make eating difficult? <<And then we have Wilek, who seems totally oblivious. And then there's Wilek, and it seems he's totally oblivious.>> It is the kind of thing that bears repeating. :P <<I think we need to do something about that, gentlemen... *flashes ethically challenged grin at The other two*>> Point one: I take it personally when I come under psychological siege. Point two: I have enough nuclear grenades to knock the Moon out of orbit. Feeling lucky? >8) <<Nad? I need a few hundred yards of read bunting, a flock of cherubs, and a ton or two of rose petals...>> A duel? I snick for joy. 8) <activates commlock> Oh Clive? Fetch the Iron Maiden, the toybox, and a tribe of Zur-Mogwani. <sits back to watch the show> hehehe <<I can't load the "Hero Machine either. Can you or anyone else give suggestions as to how I COULD?>> What particular error are you getting (also directed to anyone else who can't load it)? <<Methinks we'll have to fight for the honor...>> No no, I will not object to having two children rather than one. :) <<Either that, or just get Wilek to start posting more often. Hint, hint.>> Trust me, I'm trying... O_o' To think, there was a time, in a galaxy far far away, when I could post every night... O_O
Ironwolf> Welcome back! :D
Aaron> <<Wilek is becoming Traveler, and I'm slowly becoming Wilek.>> Am...I infectious? O_o <<True, but there's also no guy to feel jealous of and/or inferior to.>> Still, they're not going to want him if they're that much into each other. O_o <<As for you... I don't think they have a sport for you to get behind yet. Maybe when roller derby makes a comeback.>> Possibly. It does need improving though; I've grandiose ideas involving power tools and tire chains. <<Anybody got any others?>> Survivor XIII: the Labyrinth. Seven people, one puzzle box, seven Cenobites, one survivor.
Ryan> <<I like the pictures and MP3's.>> Is not the Timedancer theme a gift from the gods themselves? ^_^
SJ> <<How the Cell got nominated for an Academy Award, I will never know.>> Admittedly, I liked it...it holds a certain attraction for such freaks as myself. :P
Caliope> <<O_O....oooo wonder if James was still in there :P>> If he was, he's now a little pile of cinders with little piteously blinking eyes on top like in a WB cartoon. :P
Doug> <<I personally think Michael Jackson's Moonwalker was way more fun in the arcade (make those bad guys dance! :).>> I seem to remember the arcade version having a 3/4 isometric view and that he could throw his hat...but that's all I remember. O_o And even if I found it, the only ROM that works with my copy of MAME is Altered Beast... $<<Glad you used Hero Machine to illustrate your RP characters, I think they look good. Same to Wilek and Warpmind.>> :) I'm working on a page with a few more; going to upload it soon if I can. Hope you don't mind my archiving your characters and the others' as well. :) $ <<Now that I think about it, you could be right about Willy Wonka. I feel very creeped out all of a sudden. <shivers>>> Every good horror novel/movie provokes that reaction. Wonka was simply more subtle in its horror than most. ;) <<BTW, I'm still laughing from remembering your responses to the poem I posted last week. :)>> Glad to be of service. :)
Republican Woman> I could do something amusing with the song "American Woman" here, but I'll let it slide. ;P
Patty> <<not once did she scream "Lemme show you something!">> That, I have to admit, I'd find amusing. 8) <<One of these days, I'm just going to have to surrender to the creativity demons and write that fic. Be afraid... be very afraid.>> I do hope you have a copy of Grey's Anatomy for research. >8) <<Anyone have any opinions on Dish Network?>> I have DirecTV and it is transcendently cool. The only reason I still have my cable is because it carries PBS and I don't know when Are You Being Served comes on BBCA. :P
Shadowrider> Welcome back! 8D

I forgot before: Lain, enjoy your trip.
Fire Storm> <<The law that can't be broken can surely be bent>>: Absolutely. They say Rutgers servers are free, so if you can make them believe a Rutgers server is doing all the downloading (by, say, telnetting to them or using exceed), and then download off that server, it's all good.
<<Seriously, though, how far are you on downloading Ranma?>>: I've got a good heck of a lot. Since the last time Ilisted everything, I've finished off the OVAs, and am now working of Season 5 episode 18, 20+. I currently have three rars of 18.
Warpmind> <<the dey the strip's taken over by SOPE>>: Well, the hostage situation was over quick. Amazing how many body parts can be scanned in a short amount of time.
Kirshanta> <<They deserved to get kicked out>>: One of the best quotes in regards to the situation was by Xanathar, "they were amusing,in a "I'd love to chop them into little peices with a chainsaw"sort of way." It was around the end of '99, but the CR died a couple times, so they are essentially nullified from history (except for one final plead for mercy, heh).
<<I hope one day everyone will have a pic all their own so that we instantly recognize them when we long on>>: Lack of a pic also counts, in my opinion. Color and style (and combinations) also make for quick identification. But I just love playing with people's minds, and I do like my color rotation.
Calíope> <<its all in the powder man! Strawberry Powdered Jell-O!>>: That's gotta mess with your sinuses. Must work like a charm, though.
<<well intentioned good boys>>: Do those even exist?
<<I dont get shaken up to easy>>: Bride of evil laugh.
Lain> <<Land of Perpetual Showers>>: Seattle?
You know, I have nigh on 90 striaght hours of mp3s. Almost 1300 files. At this rate I could go on for around ten years posting.
Spacebabie> <<One Big zosorva covered GLOMP coming your way>>: Whee ha.
Mary Flanders> <<Fielding writes so well and it's not even proper grammar>>: You can thank Twain for introducing dialect to literature. I know there's another word, but I can't think of it now.
Danile Johnson> Continued condolences, as well as whatever well wishes may work.
Daphne> <<I may actually do that. thanx>>: Not a problem. I felt compelled to offer advice as a double stag attender.
<<get off the phone line *now*. and now... I forget what I had to say>>: So just close the connection, not the browsers. You can read and comment as you go, saving coments in a text file, or waiting until you can get back on.
Boy there were a lost of posts today. And now I have to wade through them.
Doug> <<I didn't know CDs had that much memory>>: 650 megs. I know snes carts are about 2-3 megs each. Since a genesis is from around that era, that sounds about right.
Patrick Toman> <<Be afraid... be very afraid>>: I will only fear if you have the Mme. write it.
Toku Kai> <<that's pretty much tame for some of the weirdness that goes on in here on a regular basis>>: Well, we do have our own conspiracies, forget the theorists.
Welcome back Shadowrider.
Daniel Johnson> <<does anyone know anything about Cyborg and Curly++?>>: As far as I know, they just faded silently into the night.
Aaron> <<There's a typo at the end>>: I really am slipping.
SRS Jr.> Congratulations on the job.
Gunjack> Condolences on the ugly morning.
<<and semi-erect my way toward the focus of the noise>>: So wrong.
<<how did YOUR morning go?>>: After a couple hours simulating circuits in SPICE and other EE type exerceses (what is the first order RC circuit that matches the equation Vc(t)=10-5*e^(-30000t) volts for t>=0?), I managed to sleep for a while before the necessity of rising at 9 to eat and attend (sleep in) class discussing the solution of Ax=b (A is a n by n matrix, x and b are n high vectors), as well as least squares.
<<Anyone got some duct tape?>>: I'm an engineer. I have two rolls constructor grade in my drawer all of two feet from me. As well as just about any other concievable way to attach anything.
<<Good form, old chap>>: Whee.
<<I was evisioning something more along the lines of a skinless Diablo>>: Watch out for naked fat guys.
<<And you actually SURVIVED the experience!?>>: Well, about half or so of them I discarded after only a couple glances at strips.
<<Got any ideas where to go for the dancing girls?>>: Well, there was that Sata agency from a while back... And we could probably call on Pfil and Pamila (who help explain a recen Exploitation Now gag), Miki and Mayumi, Mido Miko, heck with it, just about everyone studio proteus has worked with.
<<Can you describe it..?>>: Ok, though they do it for at least one TV special. First, they drop a yellow ribbon down the middle of the stage that no one crosses. Then they take two volunteers to label one bullet and casing, which they then help to load. P&T then set up two small panes of glass in front of the bullet trajectories (their heads), while the volunteers get off the stage for insurance issues. They shoot the guns, breaking the glass, and each spit one bullet into a returning volunter's hand. The bullets are identified by the writing and having been fired. The volunteers then check the casing left in the magnums to match the appropriate markings and smell of being fired. Plus, Penn gives the five rules that would ensure there were no firearm accidents, were they followed.
<<that was BEFORE I was hunted down and threatened with Celine Dion music by a mob of burgandy-robed thugs>>: And you had nothing to counter that? Not even Whitney Houston?
<< Is that an offer?>>: Well, I'm pretty sure the EE administration aren't doing much with theirs.
<<maybe I've just been hanging around Pig too long>>: Evil! Swallow your soul! Swallow your soul!
<<I feel dirty now>>: Son of evil laugh.
<<you mean Tina the Squirrel?>>: Well, actually Sabrina Online ( www.sabrina-online.com ). And as a bonus, it also leads into three online stories by two authors. One of which stars a tiger striped skunk ex porn star.
<<Not that she needed much chidifying>>: True dat.
<<Or a nice Wilekian blue>>: But he's becoming Traveler now. If you switch colors, the change will start effecting you irreversably.
<<concept whooshes over Val's head>>: Just that my teacher always clamed the indeterminate measurement tad was concretely applicable and had a definite origin.
<<Ask Frued>>: Well, you just have to be creative.
<<Either that was subtle as heck, or the Lovely Ladies really HAVE corrupted me>>: Well, no matter what, meat and cheese are a good thing. Especially if used creatively.
<<Aside from... Not much>>: Good to hear. Wouldn't want anything bad happening.
<<the guttermind epidemic>>: Epidemic? Don't you mean renaissance?
<<Anyone who still takes Ms Stienem seriously, please take a flying leap into that big flaming pit over there>>: Good luck herding the entire population of Douglass.
<<I'm still amazed that neither of the other two picked up on that>>: I have my off days.
<<the constant threat of horrible disfigurement and/or messy death>>: My day just isn't the same without at least three.
<<That's like saying "And you should probably wear underwear, too...">>: I hear commando style is somewhat popular nowadays. And "roomy in ways [you] never though possible" (Dave, Narbonic).
<<Gside is about as fixated on women as an Engineer can get>>: When was the last time you heard of a studly engineer? If we're going to get any, we gotta really work at it.
<<Wilek, who seems totally oblivious>>: Maybe if we hire out Pavlov. Every time he behaves properly, we had over a little more power. Pretty soon, probably before we run out of America, he'll be behaving properly without the rewards.
<<flashes ethically challenged grin at The other two>>: Evil laugh returns.
<<and a ton or two of rose petals>>: I think you could easily get that from whoever supplies the Rose Bowl.
<<This is going to take some work>>: We need to show him just how good the downtime is for proper functioning of the brain.
<<Why is it that 80% of all action games include big rooms full of crates?>>: They're generic enough to not be out of place, yet easy to model many times over.
<<Might I also suggest some pepto-bismal?>>: Some stretches beforehand might also be good.
<<Anyone up for sausage?>>: I'll take kielbasa anytime.
Heck with it. I need sleep. I'll catch up with the rest later.
Na zdorov'ya.

Jannie: I hope I can get into law enforcement someday, but it won't be someday recent. I want to work security for a while longer first. :) You probably won't be the only one proud of me when I do get there or the only one concerned for my safety either. I know Mom and Kit already feel that wayy too. :) BTW, the pay here in Austin for cops is actually pretty good. 31,000 a year for a starting officer. Cadet's a little less of course, but not that much less. Thanks for your encouragement and your appreciation.
Daniel Johnson: Geez, what idiocy our race exhibits so much of the time. <shakes head>
GXB: I too hope they get that swastika painter, he needs to be punished. Hopefully the media will be at his trial so they can find out the truth about your town, I'm sure it is indeed as nice a place to live as you imply in your posts. Anybody who damages that image deserves some hurt.
Shadowrider: Hey there, welcome back. :) Thanks for your congrats to Kit and me on the engagement. We'll try to scan and post pictures if we can- Gubio has the right equipment so that's not a problem. :) The date's pretty far in the future though, at least a year away from now. We'll let you know our address and date when we know the latter, thanks for the thought of your gift. :) Congrats to you on doing so much hard work that I hear has paid off well.
Kirshanta: Thanks. Glad you liked our pic choice, we agree with you about what it represents. :) This one I'm using right now kinda describes how I feel after a hard but satisfying day at work in which I had to break up a fight and deal with some people trying to waste my time with a game between the usual patrolling and making people move out of the fire lane please. :)
Gunjack: Try www.heromachine.com. They might be able to help you load the program somehow. It's pretty easy to figure out once you get it up on your machine.

**raises an eyebrow at Valentine's post**
It always could be worse, m'boy. Take for instance my mother. She's already sleep deprived because of her arthritis (in her legs, very painful for her especially at night) and the medication she takes for various maladies which leave her as an insomniac. The last couple of days she's *also* had to deal with the sound of VERY LARGE feet pounding on our roof, in addition to pneumatic nailguns and various other construction noises.
Yes, you guessed right ... we're having a roof put on the house to replace the old one that was damaged in a hailstorm last August. And don't ask about the reason why we're JUST NOW getting the roof when it was damaged in August ... just describing it will give the headache back to me. :P

Fanfic News> I finally got chapter 5 of my Ranma 1/2 fanfic series done! I sent it and chapter 4 to Mike Counts (seeing that he aparently lost chapter 4 the first time). Hopefully it will be posted soon. :)
BTW, you know what my dream is? I love anime, manga, the Japanese language, cluture, etc. I love writing and I hope to go to Japan and write mangas. ^_^ Here's my Plan:
1) Go to Sonoma State University and study all the Japanese they have, along with taking creative writing courses. Sonoma so far has only 3 semesters of Japanese.
2) After two years, I plan to go to a Japanese Language School in Japan and study there for about 1 year. I want to absorb as much of the culture and language into my veins as humanly possible!!!! :) :) :) :) :)
3) If it's possible, I plan to apply to a University in Japan and study there for the remaining two years of my college career.
4) And finally, find a partner to draw the mangas with me. I can't draw very well (the problem with Asperger's Syndrome. not very physically coordinated with body. >:/) and my partner can help explain some of Japanese stuff to me that I don't get. :)
Course, if all this fails, I can come back home and be a writer. :)

ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later, in full view, a killer whale ate them both.
2. A psychology student in New York rented out her spare room to a carpenter in order to nag him constantly and study his reactions. After weeks of needling, he snapped and beat her with an axe leaving her mentally retarded.
3. A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment he had been happily listening to his Walkman.
4. Two animal rights protesters were protesting at the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn Germany. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death. And finally.......
5. Iraqi terrorist, Khay Rahnajet, didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with "return to sender" stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.
Your day's not so bad, is it?????>>

Ok, here's something I just found in a Bloomberg article. Jim Allchin, the head of Microsoft's OS division, has said that open source software, Linux for example, is a threat that "could stifle innovation." He also said that "I can't imagine something that could be worse than this for the software business and the intellectual-property business." What he really means is that nothing could be worse for *Microsoft's* business. After all, what's good for MS is good for the world, right? I can't believe the unmitigated arrogance of Gate's & Co. Now, I'll admit that I'm biased since I'm a Mac user, but I'm *not* a Windows hater. I can, and do, use Windows all the time, but when given a choice, I prefer to use a Mac. I find that *I* am more productive that way, especially since I seem to spend most of my time keeping the Windows box at work from crashing. Then, of course, there's the newly-announced Windows XP. Perhaps it's simply a coincidence that Windows *X*P is announced just before next month's release of Mac OS *X*. It must be, because MS would never copy anything, would they? The fact that the XP GUI is reminiscent of OS X's is simply a fluke, and it's ludicrous to think that duck icon that XP used on the user signon screen could possibly have the slightest connection to the duck icon on the OS X multiple users screen. After all, one is showing it's left side while the other is showing it's right. It's a good thing that MS is working so hard to convince lawmakers that open source is so evil, so that they can continue their flawless record of brilliant innovation.
Here's a link to the above mentioned article.

Hmmm...I think it is the first time I use a 4th post in a day...I feel a scolding from the Admin coming for me, for overflooding the CR...I apologize in advance, and promise I'll try to avoid it in future.
Well, I still had not time to start reading the new TGS...had to pay a visit to my Taekwon-do class, they didn't see me in a lifetime...and now I'm a bit sleepy, and tired. I'll start tomorrow morning, I promise.
I've seen in the news that there's been a bombing in Iraq. Quite unexpected, for sure. I could make some comments about it, but I prefer to avoid it now...better wait, and see for further details.
Kit:> <<<I'm glad but not surprised to see you so happy.>>> Actually, I am even more happy than appears...my only concern is that I wasn't here to make you my congratulations when you announced it.
<<< But the vows we've made in our hearts, finally voiced, are enough for now. :) >>> It is true...but, now, you must do so that all the world around will know it...and, in spite of I am not a romantic guy (correction: used not to be a romantic guy...but recently someone made me change my attitude a little...:), a good wedding can always touch me. For sure, you and Doug must provide us all with a lot of photos, so that everyone can make himself an idea (and, naturally, some close shots of the bride...;). And, please, if you want to make me know your address, and, when you'll know it, the date, I'd like to send a present for the wedding.
(Note: I am quite sleepy...so please forgive if what is written above makes little sense...I'm quite sure of the general meaning, but some words may have slipped out of place...)
Winterwolf:> Hi guy! No, I still didn't get your letter...probably I'll receive it in a few days.
All for now. See tomorrow, everyone!

*Valentine enters, tromps over to the jukebox, and puts Stabbing Westward's "Sometimes It Hurts" on continuous repeat*
No, In haven't had my heart ripped out. I just need that first verse right now... The one about being sick and tired and homicidal and tired and sick.
*Warning - Abstract, whiny, and HIGHLY verbiose rant ahead*
So there I am, lying in bed at 2:10 in the morning... It's been raining for the last 12 hours, the dog's been demanding attention, and I've just had my computer crash out from under me in a way that has only previously been achieved by intimate encounters between large passenger aircraft and flocks of pelicans.
So there I am, listening to the rain as it beats itself against the roof, slowly drifting toward sleep, trying to ignore the dog moving around under the covers cause the noise freaks her out... And then I notice that the rain sounds a whole lot closer than it did before. Almost like it's coming from INSIDE the room...
So upwards I spring like fleet-footed Mercury, seeking the source of this foul fortune. And Lo! There is water pouring in through the ceiling light fixture! Alas, alack, and woebetides, what calamaties have become me!
So I put a a jar under the drip, note the deep, resonant, kettle drum-like percussion caused by the water-falling-seven-feet-into-large-plastic-jar dynamic, and decide to relocate to the couch. The dog, who has been taking issue with this sort of aqueous tympony all day, decides to come along. It is now approaching 2:30 in the AM.
1.5 24ths of the day/night cycle later, I'm still awake. This does not please me, so I apply what little mental powers I still possess to divine the source of my discontent. Is it the phantom leaks in the kitchen that I've already checked for three times? No, I've grown numb to those. Is it the dog that can't understand the no-biting-fleas-at-4-AM-when-sleeping-on-someone's-legs aprt of doggy ettiquete? no, she's finally calmed down. What could it be, then?
It takes me quite a while, but I finally narrow the possibilities down to the crushing hunger that results from, y'know, forgetting to EAT all day. Temporal bliss is achieved through the consumption of one (1) cheese sandwich. Blissful slumber o'rtakes me at approximately 4:30 AM.
...Unfortunately, it only lasts three hours. At 7:30 in the A freakin' M, the OTHER three members of the household begin the morning ritual known colloquially as "getting out the door". Since I usually sleep in till the better parts of the morning (meaning the afternoon), it's been some time since I experienced these fascinating pagan rites first hand. From the sounds filtering in from the other end of the house, it seems that "getting out the door" involves ritual chanting, the slaughter of livestock (or is that just Jen complaining about the comp refusing to turn on?), a VERY bad orchestra, and at least one 21-gun salute. I grope for a weapon to hurl at the cretins who defile my slumber, and come up empty. I breifly consider registering my opinion by puking on the floor, but wisely decide to keep my mouth shut. Instead, I employ my *masterful* impersonation of a primitive hunter/gatherer, and semi-erect my way toward the focus of the noise.
Have you ever met those people who, when working, have trouble responding to outside stimuli? How about those people who, when denied an immediate responce to a query, feel the need to repeat themselves like a broken record until a reply comes? Now, put those two concepts together, and filter the resulting discord through a sleep deprived brain. To paraphrase Tycho, "The funny thing is, if I killed 'em, *I'D* go to jail."
For the sake of (belated) brevity, I'll skip the parts about the Computer That Wouldn't Boot, and the Orgy of Paternal Slaughter. I'm sure you get the idea. If it weren't for a qick humor fix from Warps on IM, I'd probably be setting fire to myself at about this point.
So, how did YOUR morning go? ; )
*Val switches gears, to the accompaniment of much screeching and grinding*
Dang, keep forgetting to hit the clutch. Anyone got some duct tape?
Gside><<Whoo hoo.>> You're too kind. ; ) And a ten of ten on guessing the references. Good form, old chap. <<Is that where Murray got to?>> Actually, I was evisioning something more along the lines of a skinless Diablo...
<<I remember when that happened to me. April first of last year. I checked out all the comics that articipated in the swap.>> You FOOL! ...And you actually SURVIVED the experience!? <<Evil laugh.>> Evil laugh indeed. Sooooo... Got any ideas where to go for the dancing girls?
<<Yup. From Magnums. I've read how it's done with a person crossing the line, but they have me stumped.>> C'mon man, you can do better than that! Can you describe it..? <<I do my best. And you know it had to be said.>> True, but that doesn't make it hurt less... <<Though mine was actually relevant when I first said it.>> Just because it's relevent to YOU doesn't mean it isn't grounds for starting a Nonsense contest. ; ) <<Remember, you were the first one to suggest the volume of cheerfulness.>> True, but that was BEFORE I was hunted down and threatened with Celine Dion music by a mob of burgandy-robed thugs... <<Maybe you could borrow someone else's in the meantime.>> Is that an offer? ; ) ...The scary part is that I kept mine in a hip flask. I'm afraid someone might work up a thirst, and-*shudders* ...Or maybe I've just been hanging around Pig too long. <<I was contemplating the face for your question, though it is fun to watch the shirt.>> I feel dirty now. <<Joyce's dream.>> Perfect. ]8D <<And it helps to hook another pantsless furry.>> you mean Tina the Squirrel? I never COULD find that one... : P <<And there's always the "My word! She's pristine.">> Have I mentioned that Joyce is one of my chibis? Not that she needed much chidifying... <<Nah, just thought the CR could use some more green.>> Nyah. Just for that, I think I'll post in red next time. Or a nice Wilekian blue... Yeah, that's the ticket... <<Ukranian measurement. I had an art teacher who always claimed such.>> Huh? *concept whooshes over Val's head* <<Sorry, the Targum is the official Rutgers paper (as opposed to the Medium, which is probably better not described), and the online entertainmend section hasn't been updated in a good while.>> Su- er... Darn. <<What don't they make up for?>> Ask Frued. <<I vote nose. Eye is also good.>> Ouch. I've gotta admit, I never even considered those two... *shudders*
<<What? No meat or cheese?>> *Looks from Gside, to WarpsandLynati, to his coffee, and then back to Gside* ...Dude. Either that was subtle as heck, or the Lovely Ladies really HAVE corrupted me... <<One doesn't. It's just that with the added hyper compounded on your standard overzealous hyper, people start to ponder just what it is that you're smoking.>> And why she isn't sharing. <<Actually, I'm pretty sure there are a whole bunch of other sounds associated with nukes, but boom does seem to make a nice summation of the effect.>> Given the size of the blast, I'd say it would be mor like an ascending roar... <<Hey, Gunjack. You took the test, you said you would be back. Yet you haven't posted anything in two days. What's up this time?>> Aside from my net connection shutting down? And my church blowing up? And the hours of remedial heart surgery via IM? Not much.
Robby><<Eeesh, it never slows down for me...>> Boy, does THIS sound familiar... Except I don't get payed, and I don't have a boss waiting to chew on my hindparts if I fall behind. 8 P ...Here's to hoping you can get things worked out... <<Well, I'm afraid King Arthur ate them...>> Soooooo many things I could say, what with the guttermind epidemic and the recent Hannibal hysteria... <<Like the remake of Bye Bye Birdie.>> *Pulls a staggeringly huge HVW cannon from under his coat* Who. Did. This. <<An indication of how much our history books try to cover him up while making Hitler out to be evil...>> This must be one of those advantages about homeschool that you hear about, cause I've known about Stalin for quite a while. Though I must admit, Hitler had a few years' head start on my hit list... <<We were the goodguys, and I believed it until I saw the anime "Barefoot Gen."..>> Sounds like I should watch it, since I STILL think we were the good guys. Note to warlords - If you don't want your people to get hammered, don't indoctrinate them into acting like berserkers.
Gee, THAT sentence oughta get me some hate mail... *chuckles*
Warpmind><<Oh, and don't yer know the sayin' "Wen yer fink yer know yor enemy's evry move, he will surprise yer, and yer lose.">> You're forgetting that one of my close friends actually TALKS like this (and much, MUCH worse) all the time. ; ) ...Yer gonna have to do better than THAT, laddie...
Firestorm><<THAT, and it can just be BORING!>> *looks at his own highly exciting life* ...And lord knows we couldn't have THAT... : P ...How come you giant, acid-blooded space fiends can't understand the appeal of a good book by the fireside? ; ) <<for those of you who are NOT aware of the situation, I DO NOT MEAN HUMAN CHILDREN!>> You shoulda let them complain. T'would be amusing, and it'd be a good lesson about leaping before you look... 8 ) <<I am carefull!>> That's what they ALL say, right before their hellish concoctions set fire to one's entire digestive tract... <<Do REAL hackers REALLY post like that?>> Not real Hackers, just H4Xors and L33ts. And I've seen people who actually wrote like that on CS... : P ..Silly as heck, isn't it? <<How the hell can anyone understand that?>> It's not that hard. Just think of it as an excersise in closure.
Hmmm... Wonder if McCloud's caught onto this yet? o.O <<Ok, FINE. Go and find the 8 bad pics right off the bat. :)>> What?! I just found one. Speaking of which, how long till they're fixed? Huh huh huh? *pester pester gripe complain* <<Hmm... I am reminded of a joke about vampires and tea... :)>> ...Dude, I have been trying for SO LONG to forget that one... *shudders*
Hmmm. You seem to be using the Neo-Steel Clan pic.... and I've been meaning to draw up some robots... *thinks* ...Methinks "Firestorm" would be a good model name for the Mk23 H+ variant... *breaks out the art supplies*
<<Hell, even our SKIN isn't acid proof. The mucus is what keeps us together. And, for some reason, it is an insulator, not a conductor.>> Perhaps you could use force beams (ie tractors/pressors) to anchor and isolate the implants?
<<Since it's love day, I present the ACUTAL meaning of Valentines day! (The hyper-super-ultra-femanist version)>> Um, YEAH. Anyone who still takes Ms Stienem seriously, please take a flying leap into that big flaming pit over there. ...Though, it WAS a well written article. I especially liked the last bit...
Caliope><<lol you cheeted then!!! :P>> maybe so, but I enjoy the series quite a bit more now that I understand what the heck is going on... ; ) <<...>> Well, maybe its my latin back grownd working on it or my general chattiness, but those diners were just too dang quiet and still and scary!>> It ain't just you... Though the worst one was where she tells her dad about meating the Gmen... <<Yeah, arent Barny and Teletubies suposed to be cute?! Yet you cant tell me THEY'RE not scary!!!! :P>> There's a big difference. The teddybear PJs actually had CLASS... ; ) *makes plans to sew a pair for little sis' next birthday*
Lainkob><<anyway.. that's about it for now.>> Is this when you decided to switch nicks? ; ) ...I want the full story of this when you get back from London... <<Marley??? MARLEY?????... geez.. the M key isn't THAT close to the B key.. my brain is messed..>> Heh... Jacob Marley? ; ) ...Someone's been reading too much Dickens.
Wilek><<It takes a lot to truly frighten me... O_O'>> What, you can't handle a Kasumi-sweet Valentine? And you call yourself an evil mastermind... ; ) <<Your point?>> Well, there's this thing called the Post Office, and Lain's gotten me hooked on using it to send things to people. Y'know, OTHER than guns and bombs. <<That sounds really philthy out of context. :P>> I'm still amazed that neither of the other two picked up on that... And so you know, an Iron Witch is a concept that's making a pest of itself. <<Pity, that; it's among my favorite genres--my Majora's Mask addiction was the only thing that managed to alleviate my Banjo-Tooie addiction.>> Oops. That's not what I meant by "3d platformer". I was refering more to games like "Jersey Devil" and "Gex"... ; P <<If you continue to look at me like that, I will introduce you to an experimental pathogen that, for reasons you'd just as soon not know, I have nicknamed "Squidgey".>> See, this is why I love it here. The comradery, the atmosphere, the constant threat of horrible disfigurement and/or messy death... <<My IDrive at www.idrive.com/wnereus can store MP3s and has upload capabilities.>> Oh well, why not... Though I doubt I can find it on mp3. <<Nice. I'd also pack a few melee weapons and burst-fire and sustained-beam energy weapons...>> I'm a gunjack. That's like saying "And you should probably wear underwear, too...". ; ) <<Big metal crucifix with a machine gun in the southern arm.>> Oooo! Sounds fun... <<Nice. :)>> We DO try to be fasionable... 8 ) <<What's the interface like? Conventional, supervised AI, cybermechanical, other?>> Neural interface, through nodes in the spine and limbs, plus a simplistic AI to run autonomous weapons nd piloting. <<I...have no idea. O_o>> *switches to mexican voice* You've got to NOOOW theese theeengs! <<Ach, why didn't I think of that...<readies a chainsaw>>> I actually tried this in a dream a few nights ago (NOT kidding). It still doesn't work all that well, especially when they grow new appendages. Try burning if you get a chance, or else use a minigun. And now you know. o.O <<Foreign relations will be rather benign, actually--we can't take on an entire galaxy, not in this milennium anyhow. But anyone who is so unkind as to attack us will of course be erased from existence.>> Amazing. Do we at least get to run covert ops into our "allies'" territory? <<I'll be sure to, if I ever find it. :)>> That excuse won't work. Name link, Iff'n yeh please... *evil laugh* ...Honestly, this is one of the better webcomics on the net. I think you'd appreciate the humor. <<Then why did you ask me for a DNA sample, doctor...?>> Lord, but I hope you're wrong. You're a nice guy and all, but I'd hate to think that my left arm was technically your son... o.O ...On the other hand, that would mean that if you died, my arm would be the rightful hier... Hmmmm... *evil grin* <<I hope it wasn't very valuable. O_o>> Information usually is... : P ...BTW, Lain, you EVER gonna tell me what I missed? <<Ain't racism grand?>> Naw, it's like saying that some guy who managed to win the olympics was actually a cyborg. It makes you wonder how much was him, and how much was his innate advantages... <<[Wilek chuckles evilly, knowing he's just acquired a weapon.] Now, about that MP3... 8)>> You mean you AREN'T reduced to helpless laughter when someone mentions sucky games and/or systems? <<<see previous response>>> See how good it is to have me on Weps R&D? That's two weapons in as many sentences. ; ) <<What is with the "wang" thing?>> As I'm sure Gside has already explained, Wang is an addictive mental disorder wan- CREATED by the proprietors of the Penny Arcade. Fear for your wang. Life.
<<Work on the Project does have its occupational hazards.>> At least the medical facilities are good... <<Um, I wouldn't. My Cenobite contacts are a tad insistent.>> Needles, not pins. Like quills. <<Do...I wanna know? O_o>> Probably not. I'll get to it later. <<Women are excellent intellectual company, but I get the feeling that your statement is hormonally motivated, and I find such matters totally mystifying...>> Ok, lemme get this straight. We've got a quartet going here; Warpmind, Wilek, Gside, and me. I'm a romantic. Gside is about as fixated on women as an Engineer can get. Warpmind... Well, let's just say that he certianly doesn't lack enthusiasm, and leave it at that.
And then we have Wilek, who seems totally oblivious. And then there's Wilek, and it seems he's totally oblivious. I think we need to do something about that, gentlemen... *flashes ethically challenged grin at The other two* <<Hold still. [<quietly, to one of his servant droids> Fetch me a tranq, a hatchet, and a protoplaser. Stat.>> Better call for a beeper, too... <<Suddenly, I'm curious: How does one decide what team to be a fan of?>> I picked the Ravens, because I thought they had a cooler name. Oh yeah, and NY stinks. ; ) <<Not girls, just romance. ;)>> *Grabs celphone* Nad? I need a few hundred yards of read bunting, a flock of cherubs, and a ton or two of rose petals... <<Really, is there anything much more annoying? And I'm irked at the thought of mere hormonal cascades being able to somehow override the intellect.>> This is going to take some work... O.O
Mary><<But they're seen attached at the hip all the time and they're always talking about how much closer they want to be, so they're peers call them RichandAmy.>> "You mean they're actually sepperate people?" ; ) ...Love that comic. 8D ...And good luck with love. Believe me, it can come from some VERY unespected directions... :D
Mandolin - Condolences for yourself, and the others Traci touched... : |
Spacebabie - *is group-glomped* Whoa! What was THAT for? :D ...So, are you glomping us all at once, or jumping each as we walk in?
Hyperion><<And in the anime vein... for all you you with either a) money or b) lackluster ethics: snag a copy of the game Oni.>> See, Warps? I don't just make this stuff up... And for everyone else who's heard of the game... http://penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2000-12-20
Why is it that 80% of all action games include big rooms full of crates? Frued got the gun connection quick enough, but I think this crate thing needs to be looked into. Maybe THAT'S the root of the videogame=violence equation...
Coyote - AAAAAAGH!!! You used the Romance Novel pic! *shudders, and averts his eyes... Only to spot all the OTHER lovey-dovey pics that seem to have crawled out of the woodwork* ...Geh. and out of all three seasons and four series, I count FOUR pics of people with guns, and not ONE of 'em's an evil suit. Life just ain't fair... 8 P
Kit><<and no way Talon and Claw would get captured by robots with their electricity powers.>> Um, just for the record, Electricity DOESN'T automaticly wipe the floor with robots. Just thought I'd bring that up. Personally, if *I* were a garg/mutate/etc faced with giant robots, I'd invest in heavy weapons. I'm sure Mr. X could be persuaded to part with a few of those nifty energy weapons, and lord knows these poor people need all the gunnery they can get... : P <<But if you want to surprise him, I am willing to settle for a complete script of everything that happened afterwards. :)>> Might I also suggest some pepto-bismal? ; )
Ooo, and thanks for the definition. <<He keeps his in my underwear and sock drawer. Interesting, isn't it? :)>> I WOULD comment, except then I'd get hurt. BAD.
*Spots the new pic, and his brain promptly shorts out* ....ffffffbbburble. Um, wow. *slaps self sober* Ooookay. uh, where was I? ...I can't load the "Hero Machine either. Can you or anyone else give suggestions as to how I COULD? It looks like real fun...
Aaron><<I swear, Wilek is becoming Traveler, and I'm slowly becoming Wilek.>> You to, eh? Methinks we'll have to fight for the honor... Either that, or just get Wilek to start posting more often. Hint, hint. <<Not my view per se, but, any thoughts? Any one else wanna have a crack at it. Gunjack?>> Why do people do that? I'm just a humble monk- er, Crazy Merc Gunner. Lessee here. First off, are you sure that was Jannie you were talking to? Cause if it was, I *REALLY* need more sleep... o.O ...Aaaaanyway. <<So, god is responsible for everything right in my life, and I'm responsible for everything that's wrong.>> If you change "I" to "We" (meaning all of humanity), this would be half-true. But then, you still have to deal with desease and such. For the most part, it all holds together up to this point. <<And that's why I'm an atheist.">> ...And here's where it seems to fall apart. Given the assumption that someone made something Nifty, and we humans screwed it up, why does that cause one to deny the nifty-maker? o.O ...Seems like a non-sequiter to me. <<Ever consider that you're fine, it's the people around you who're mental?>> Having met a few isolated "normal people", I'd call this a distinct possibility. <<Besides, we're hentai, and I'm still disappointed you're the only one odds are being offered on. ;)>> I really need to update those... <<Well, James doesn't seem to know what hentai tentacles actually *do*.>> Considering that Wilek just dumped a combined total of .1 Kt of energy into the nest, they aren't gonna be doing much of anything. *peeks over the edge of the pit* ...Hmmm... Anyone up for sausage?
<<I think Survivor is too easy, so I've taken the liberty of drawing up these proposals for future Survivors:>> Heh. Sign me up for #3. Gimme my Ugly Stick and a ghillie suit, and start running...
Greg><<That pic is so you ;)>> You're lookin' spiffy yerself, Laddie! It's SOOOOO nice to have a pic again... 8D ...Now, how long's it gonna be till Firestorm fixes the Akai pic? o.O ...well, SOMEONE'S got to keep up the pestering while Lain's in London... ; )
I'll catch up the rest of the way later, if possible. If not, TOO BAD! HAHAHAHAHA! I'm free as a bird!!! Master of my own fate!
...And right now, that fate seems to consist of being bugged by my boss for that pistol model I promised weeks ago. Bugger... : P

[Enters the CR, an enigmatic grin on his face...much like this character that he helped to create.]
Greetings all... felt that Ol' Volcano Smoke here (points to image) was appropriate for the way I'm feeling right now. In other words...
I GOT A JOB!!!
Well, it's not anything major! I got re-hired at the same McDonalds that I started at several years ago. Dunno what my payscale is, but so long as I can get a bump over what I used to get working minimum wage, things should be fine. (bTW, any Floridians in here, what is the Min. Wage level in Florida now?)
Anyway, just wanted to share! Talk to you all later, and Maintain and Check Six!

Christi> Cool, I missed the first one. Thank you to you and Leva for arranging a second for me to participate in.
WARNING RANT
Well, things are going to Hell in my town. There has been a lot of vandalism in my school, a lot of student artwork (Including mine) has been defaced, and I walked into the bathroom and found swatsika's drawn all over the place. And then on Wednesday, there was a Volley Ball game from another school that was mostly a black community. Well some jerk spray-painted swatsikas all over their bus. An assembly was called, and for now, everyone is being punished for this, and not many people took it seriously. But this is not the end of it, I go in today, and one of my teachers flashes the Journal Newspaper in front of me, and on the front page of the Local section, there is an article about the swatstikas on the bus incident, and Croton is called a "racist town", and people interviewed, say they should teach tolerance of other races and religions. This pisses me off, because Croton is NOT a racist town, this was only one or two pricks. Croton has a large Jewish community, a small black population, Muslims, Hindus and lots of different people. This is not a racist town, but right now the rest of New York thinks we are.
I can't wait for that prick to be caught, and properly punished. I suggest dressing him up in a Nazi uniform or Klan uniform and dropping him off in Harlem. As a half-Jew AND as a human being I am truly offended by this.

Aaron> hmmm.. very thought provoking question…. In a simplistic way, yes… but only to a certain point. Everything that goes wrong in my life isn’t necessarily MY fault, some is, and some isn’t. God is good; He is not evil or wrong. Keep in mind that this is when you are spiritual. God can and will show you (generic you) His blessings and goodness if you are receptive to them. But, I also think that God gets blamed too often. That was what I was trying to explain earlier. :)
*looks at Coyote and Lady Corvax* awwwww!! How sweet! *hugs for both* Congrats! =)
I went to the Houston Rodeo last night and had an awesome time! I saw Hank Williams, Jr. in concert… wow! The bad boy of country ;) It’s been several years since I’ve been to the rodeo and it was well worth the hassle of having to take the stinkin’ Metro bus to and from the park and ride. They are building a new stadium (which is NOT needed in Houston) on the parking lot at the Astrodome, therefore eliminating parking spaces….so we’re all required to ride the Metro to and from the Dome now.
I’m not a huge fan of C&W, but this was definitely worth it and it was fun being immersed in the cowboy culture again.
Republican Woman> nods I’ve seen this list before… scary, huh?
O.O bombing in Iraq…. Hmmmm…
Doug> You are wanting to go into law enforcement? If so, that’s awesome and I admire you greatly for that. Of course, I will always be concerned for your safety. I have several friends on the police force here, so I realize the risk that police officers take each time they walk out the door to go to work – for very little pay. =\ hehehe one of my friends was an officer at the juvenal boot camp, so he taught me some additional “holds” that I found very helpful when dealing with students that were out of control ;)
OOoO new pictures! Fox with a gun... kewlies! that's just how I feel sometimes ;)

SJ> Oscars> The Golden Globes are the runner-up prizes for the Academy. Which is why Jim Carrey got a GG for The Truman Show, and went on to get nada at the big dance. <<Best Actor>> And we return to the practice of nominating movies that no one has seen. <<If I was married to Nicole Kidman, I wouldn't have to ADOPT children.>> Considering that Tom isn't the only one in that relationship rumored to be hiding same-sex tendencies... Yes, you might.

Gside><<Actually, I can't see any innuendo there at all.>> Try reading it again. There's a typo at the end that makes it look like Cali is majoring in male anatomy.

Kit >> That pic (the last one you used) is very becoming of your and Doug's ongoing love story - very cute and quite appropriate. I've found that particular pic to be cute in a strange sort of way - knowing what those two have been through to finally come to that point - like every other couple I guess. But you guys are special 'cause you're in here with us...
Coyote > Actually, vandetta tied in nicely with the plot although you don't figure it out until you know who Vinny is. AND the pie made us laugh - the plot in this week's TGS did not. Sorry - I'm sure you had fun writing it. It's just that we didn't really have fun reading it. Better luck next time (because I KNOW you've done better and will again)
Christine >> Hell, I would have rolled on the ground in a fit of giggles. How could you not laugh at that. Actually, I probably should have laughed at Kaioto's use of the word. Oh well - regrets.
Patrick >> So you liked being abducted... OK I can do that. I'll drop by when you least expect it. But about the temper - you've been warned!!!
Busy today - not much time to talk. Oh if only someone would drop by and abduct me...

6 inches of snow ... oy, and we're supposed to drive across the pass to the Tri-Cities today ... this should be fun :P But Becca's delighted -- school is cancelled! Whee! Sorry for 3rd post, it is necessary...
Kit:> You and Doug are engaged? You mean, I suppose, "officially" engaged? Well, this is really a very very very big good news! I...I really don't know what to say...I'm really so happy for both you and Doug, and I wish you the best of happiness for your new life together. I feel also admiration for you two...you're going to do something that I still don't dare even to consider. Thinking that, from now on, both of you will have forever someone to share everything with, a steady point in the stormy sea of life...it is something incredible. Congratulations to beoth of you, from the bottom of my heart. So, when the great event is going to happen? And, what kind of ceremony do you think to have?
And, I read, you have a house. Great!, I mean, it was going to be necessary, after all, isn't it? For sure we'll talk again soon, I want to know EVERYTHING...;)
Winterwolf:> So, it was the event you mentioned in your letter. You was plain cruel in not telling me...no, I'm joking. Actually, if our sides were inverted, I was probably going to do the same...it was a too tasty joke! ;)
Oh, BTW, I got your letter...did you get mine? See you soon!

Now that has GOT to hurt.
The only other movie that made me just want to yell at was U-571. I love war documentaries for their accuracy and this movie just was ehe.
Come on, the u-boat gets depth charged a few times in the beginning and they're stranded but let the Americans get a hold of it and it's ready for more. American arogance plain and simple. I hate that, there are just sometime that realistic is the best way to explain something.

**PART 2 NOW. BEWARE- SPOILERS AHEAD**
TGS was okay this week, but not very good IMO. Mainly I think the episode didn't have the appropriate drama and tone to it. It should have been played out more seriously with so many of the clan getting kidnapped and all. Too many elements of the plot felt thrown in and lamed, especially the title reference bit at the end. Taro wasn't a very effective antagonist, and I thought his robot ninjas were too Pack or TMNT-ish to work for Gargoyles. The clan should have had a much easier time with them than they did, and realized they were robots earlier on. All the fights in the story could have used some more logic, especially the last one. Elisa and her party are walking into the hideout of an enemy that has managed to beat up and capture the Trio, Goliath, Angela, and three of the mutates, and she doesn't bring the clones, Sata, and Hudson? In a fight like that, you need all the numbers you can get. To not bring them just doesn't seem intelligent, and we know Elisa is smarter than that. Sata too. I enjoyed some of the dialogue bits in this week's ep- from the Trio and from Demona especially. Demona could really have had some good development, though, if the writing had been better done. As things were, I agree that she kinda seemed like a fanged female Jim Carrey more than anything else, and that wasn't good. The Thailog reference was also nice, but I wish we'd actually seen him. All in all, I did not like this episode. The plot was way too predictable and far-fetched (yeah, right, Taro could build such an extensive operation in Demona's warehouse under her nose- Thailog may be smart enough to do it, but I don't think Taro is), and too much of it just didn't make sense (why would Taro go after the Manhattan clan, it makes more sense for him to go after the clan closer to home in Ishimura. Then we have the clan's fights with the robot ninjas, their all-too convenient weakness revealed at the end, etc.) I definitely would not compare it to Vendettas at all. That episode may have been lighthearted, but it had the right amount of suspense, drama, and good choreography during the Hakon-Wolf fight, and was much better written. Vinny had the right amount of drama and feeling to him too, I was genuinely worried about what he might do with his 'bazooka' right up until its true nature was revealed, and then it was easy to laugh. Not so here. :( Hopefully the writing will be much better next week.
I'm glad to not be saying the same for Buffy and Angel, though after reading GXB's comment about Buffy, I almost expected to (I had to work Tuesday night and thus didn't get to watch Buffy until later on tape). I agree with him that Spike and Buffy do not really work as a couple at all, but still, their interplay made for some memorable moments in this week's episode and a very good plotline too IMO. The dynamite acting Marsters and Gellar did with their roles, the emotions they got across, helped me enjoy the conflict and development even though I didn't entirely like it- yeah, I was always amused by Spike's crush on Buffy before, I know, but now, well, it's a dangerous obsession and those are never that enjoyable to watch for me. Still, the conflict made for some very nice developments on Spike and Buffy, and on Dru (who it was nice seeing again, though her actions were predictable) and Dawn too. I hope the possibility of Dawn having a crush on Spike is dealt with again later in the season, it could make for a more interesting plot than him and Buffy. Especially with him and Buffy so much at odds now. Like SJ, I'm worried about that, btw. We don't want Spike going bad again. I was glad we saw Harmony again in this week's episode and at least dealt with her and Spike's relationship as related to his crush, but I regret to say this time she didn't make me laugh. :( Nor did Spike. I still enjoyed the episode though, for its writing, development, very amusing and well-acted rejection scene, and good fights and confrontations between Spike and Buffy. Like Kit I was disappointed not to see Something Blue referenced, but then Tara and Willow's relationship has never mentioned Vampire Willow either. Though I can't help but often wonder about what effect that wonderful undead vixen might have had in bringing it on. :) Hope we get some resolution between Buffy and Spike next week, I liked them better as friends than enemies. Joss will probably end up surprising us with things getting even worse than they are now, though. :(
Enjoyed Angel this week, except for oh-so-predictable Kate. It seemed too much like they put her in the episode because they had to, she didn't seem to fit into Angel's development as well as the Host did last week and Darla and Drusilla did before that. Police brutality made a good issue to show Angel reacting to and dealing with, though, his response to the situation with the zombie cops showed well how his character has changed since the season began. Before, he was willing to help people out with their problems and seemed like he cared about them- now he doesn't really care about the people as much as eliminating the problems of the day and getting back to his war. Yeah, there's still hope he can be the old Angel again, but it seems dim. :( I enjoyed the zombie cops as villains, they had a very well-written motivation behind them and were downright chilling in how they just kept moving to accomplish their perceived tasks of stopping crime no matter what got in their way. The big scene near the end with them storming the shelter was especially suspenseful and very well-choreographed. I liked seeing that place used once again as a point of conflict. Seeing Gunn, Wesley, and Cordelia develop in relation to it was also nice, Gunn in particular got some good development in his determination to help out his old neighborhood with the police brutality troubles and his dealings with Anne and Jackson (who I hope is dealt with appropriately someday, this isn't the first time we've seen him as an onscreen bad guy). Wesley getting shot was written into the episode very well and made a good central point for the conflict. I think Cordelia could have been developed better in the main story, but her confrontation with Angel at the end was great. :) Hopefully more scenes like that are ahead. The only weak points of the episode were that the captain was a bit too predictable a villain once he was revealed as the force behind the zombie cops (but they made up for that with the qualities mentioned above), and the girl with the weird eye felt like an unnecessary thrown-in subplot more than whatever it was supposed to be. Looking forward to Darla's return next week, it should make for some very good developments. Especially since I've heard we're also going to finally catch a glimpse of the senior partners of Wolfram & Hart.
**END SPOILERS, BACK TO REPLIES**

Interesting bits about demons in the Buffyverse, I've come to similar conclusions myself about them after seeing all the varied personalities exhibited by demons in the various episodes. There are good ones out there as well as evil, and though the evil do seem to far outnumber the good, the good still exist. Thus one could probably make a strong case for the Demona Syndrome occurring on a large scale here, as Todd speculated. I wonder if Buffy's ever thought about that. :) As for Spike, I agree that he seems more motivated by love and his wanting to satisfy whoever his current object of love is than by bloodlust- yet we can't deny that there's always a big bad demon visible in his personality. And yet Spike seems almost human a lot of the time, especially in his recent conversations with Buffy, Joyce, and Dawn. Maybe a lot of that is the chip's effect on him, but one can't be sure. Maybe he does have his soul. <shrugs> It would fit in with my own theory on vampires in Buffy falling into three types (I planned to reveal this theory in my fanfic eventually, but I might as well do it now)-
1. the normal vampire, whose demons completely take over their body, drive the original soul out, and then use the memories imprinted on the body's brain to create a whole new persona, often bringing dark sides of the person whose body they have taken over to the forefront as well as hidden qualities and angers. Examples- Vampire Willow, Darla, Angelus, Salton in my fanfic, most vampires in the Buffyverse. According to the Watcher's Council, all vampires are this type (they spread the theory to make it easier for Slayers to kill them on a regular basis without going nuts the way most decent little girls suddenly forced to become mass murderers would).
2. the "tortured soul" vamp. These vampires still have the soul of the original person inside the body, but a demon's in there too and it's torturing the soul with its control of the body and trying to turn the soul to evil in the process. Degrees of control vary from vampire to vampire, some souls are in fact stronger than their demons and able to keep them down (examples- Angel, Charlie Ketcham in my fanfic) while others have developed psychological compromises with their demons and become a new individual with many qualities of both demon and soul (Spike's an example of that).
3. the "already bad" vampire. These are people who were already really nasty in life and who becoming a vampire didn't change much personality-wise. They still have their soul, but the demon was able to meld with it flawlessly and not have to take over the body at all. Essentially both soul and demon like doing evil nasty things and together they use the body to do them. Most overly insane, selfish, or megalomaniac vampires are this type, and it also includes vampires who were driven to evil before fully embracing it with their change (like Drusilla) and vampires who had a dark side lurking within their personality all along and just needed the vampire bite to bring it out (like Harmony). They don't lose their soul at the change as much as their conscience- they were bad before and now they're just worse. In some rare cases the fusion is imperfect, though, and the soul's eyes are opened to the bad things in its life, resulting in a conscience remaining in the individual and gaining strength (Greenhead in my fanfic was going to eventually turn out to be an example of this).
Not all vampires can be classified into this theory of course. I don't know where the Master fits, or Mr. Trick, or other vampires whose human lives we weren't really shown. Still, it's food for thought. :)
Revel: Not as annoying as the weather. :)
Gorebash: Thanks for finally doing the coding the room needed and enabling us to see all the nice new pics. It was a long time in coming, but I think we're all glad the change is here. :)
Oscars: Most of the nominations I want to gack at, I don't think they're deserved at all. The Gladiator ones in particular, that movie stank to high heaven. But it's probably gonna get an Oscar or two anyway. <sigh> Julia Roberts will probably get Best Actress- though I agree Erin Brockovich was one BORING movie she did act well in it (same for Laura Linney in You Can Count On Me, which almost put Kit and I to sleep). I hope Frances MacDormand wins BSA for Almost Famous, she was dynamite in that role. The movie should win Best Picture, but it probably won't. :( Hopefully it will at least get Best Writing, it's the IMO Best Written of all the noms. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a shoo-in for Best Foreign Film, and Benicio del Toro for the other BSA (I like him too, in every role I've seen him in. The Usual Suspects is my personal favorite of his movies. If I ever pick up fanfic again, I have a character in mind for the guy :). Joaquin Phoenix better not win for the awful dumb cliched villain he played in Gladiator, I can tolerate Russell Crowe winning for the completely scripted hey-look-at-me performance he gave, but if such a bad character as his adversary's actor wins heads will roll. :(
SJ: I'd forgotten Stephen Baldwin was in Usual Suspects. Maybe I need to watch that movie again. I agree that it was one of his two good films (the other being Backdraft). Enjoyed your reaction to the Oscars and Razzies and your picks. :) I agree with a lot of your reactions, and will add that I don't think Stallone should be nominated for Worst Actor either- he gave his same old generic performance, and we've never had a problem with that before. He was burned by the script a lot too. I definitely agree about Leo and The Beach. Travolta will probably win the award twice for Lucky Numbers and Battlefield Earth (and deserve it both times, what has happened to that guy I do not understand- he used to be great <sigh>). I too would enjoy fornicating with Kate Hudson, but I must give my nod to the actress who turned in a better performance and made me laugh more. :)
Robby: Timedancer breakdowns are kicking in? Oh boy. :) I can hardly wait to see what developments we have in store for Brooklyn and Sata next. I had kinda hoped to see Dark Ages Season 3 first though. <shrugs> Oh well, whichever works for the Staff.
David G: I like your opinion of Corbie. It applies to me too (though she's not my favorite character). :)
Lain: Going to London, eh? Have a nice trip, and please don't forget to visit Into The Mystic and get some autographs. <grin>
Patrick, Kirshanta: Congrats!
Coyote: That comment about Happiest Place on Earth was meant for Kit, right? Though I guess it could be directed at me too. I hope you'll read my comments above on why it is not like Vendettas. Congrats to you and Lady Corax on the great Valentine's day and night.
Congratulations to everyone who had one in fact, thanks for sharing them with us. Kit's and mine was okay- she had to go to class and we both had to work, but we did get to spend a few hours together in the morning and evening. That time we made worthwhile in our own special way. :) Now, it is time to sleep before waking up tomorrow to do it again. See you all next time.
**RESUMING RP ACTION, WITH THE RAVENS**
"Damn it, what is going on out there?" Jesse Ventura is demanding of his State National Guard's general as the screen comes back on. He waves a hand at the Mall exit the soldiers are blocking, behind which can be heard the bellowing of the Goroistro, the thunder of several dozen guns, and the howling of blizzard winds. "Why aren't we going back out to help with that thing?" "Governor, with all due respect, my friends out there can handle it," Keith answers for the General, who is looking glum. "It's better if we stay in here and wait for them to do that. Especially for you, considering who you are." "I may be the leader of this state, but I am not a politician," Ventura fumes. "I refuse to just sit around waiting while others fight!" "Sir, he's got a point," Kenny says. "Like it or not, you need to be protected." Ventura curses loudly in response as the beast outside bellows again. "Don't worry," Keith assures him. "They'll take care of it. We'll be able to get out of here soon." He turns away and glances at the bench where he set the unconscious Stephanie down, smiling as he sees that she appears to be peacefully asleep. "And yet if I wake you up…" Keith whispers sadly, shaking his head. Suddenly a voice squawks loudly over his radio. "Tom to Ravens! If any of you are still able to fight, we need serious help over by the movie theater now!" A loud chorus of gunshots, snarls, and howls cuts him off. Keith immediately leaps to his feet and draws his nunchuks, then runs off, grimacing with the pain in his side. "What is it?!" Kenny shouts after him. "Trouble!" Keith yells back. "Now that's more like it!" Ventura grins. "Something to do! You're not keeping me from this one!" he snaps at his soldiers, who sigh and run along with him as the Governor rushes after Keith. Kenny grimaces as he watches them go, and is about to follow himself, then shakes his head and instead runs to the unconscious Stephanie's side. "I better stay here and guard you," he says. "I don't know what's wrong with you, why you were attacking the others earlier, but you obviously need to be watched." "Yes, she does," the deep voice of Bobby Mansfield chuckles suddenly from behind the former CR lawyer. "Otherwise someone might wake her up and find her useful." Kenny gasps at the voice, spinning around and drawing his gun just as a bullet slams into his head. French-accented laughter echoes around as his corpse tumbles to the floor, unheard by the soldiers rushing away.
The display changes to another part of the Mall, where Tom and Leah are gasping as the Black and Ebony Spiral werewolves who were creeping up on them step out into the light. The soldiers with the two Ravens also gasp, staring in shock at their foes. Warfrost continues to growl savagely at the creatures, several of whom growl back at him. "What are these things?" Leah asks Tom, who shrugs and speaks into his radio the message Keith heard in the last scene. Lieutenant Madison, who has just told Tom that he and his men had found no trace of the creatures Tanith described, or of Winter Blade, recovers from the surprise of seeing the Spirals as Tom speaks and yells at his soldiers to open fire. They immediately raise their weapons and do so, their bullets smacking into the werewolves, who howl and snarl in rage before rushing forward to attack. Warfrost barks back and leaps to tackle the largest of the group, but the rest come on. Meanwhile, Winter Blade is still glaring at Shadow Wolf as he stands before her in a storage room nearby. "Come on, attack me," the evil beast laughs at her. "Or are you afraid? Oh, yes, you must be. You don't want to die, you don't want to kill him. So what are you going to do? Just stand there? You'll never settle this that way." "What do you want from me?" Winter growls in reply. "Why do you not attack me?" "I'd rather you join my side," Shadow Wolf answers, chuckling. "Don't you want to? You could be with him again." "You're not Archwolf!" Winter Blade declares. "Oh, but I am!" Shadow Wolf counters. "This is his body. I'm just back in control of it. Archwolf's spirit no longer resides here, it's gone forever. You might as well settle for me." "Never," she snaps. "Then you'll have to kill me," Shadow Wolf tells her. "I'm not letting you leave this room. Consider something- do your friends know how to kill our kind?" Winter pauses at the question, then gasps. "No?" Shadow Wolf laughs. "Then they'll just have to die then." Winter immediately leaps at him, screaming an oath. Shadow Wolf chuckles and snarls, instinctively moving one of his twin enchanted silver daggers to parry her sword as their fight begins. Watching invisibly from a few feet away, the shade of Archwolf gasps and starts to move to Winter's aid. The other shade with him stops him with a hand on the shoulder and a shake of the head as the screen goes blank.

**RP WARNINGS**
The screen comes on, displaying the training room of the Empowered Womyn Scouts. They are frowning and looking at each other worriedly as the loud clip-clopping of high heels gets closer. "What's the matter with you girls?" Ricki Lake asks suddenly. "That's just some bitch who…" Suddenly the room's door bursts open and a black wave of force is sent through it, hitting Lake in the back and knocking her down. The other Scouts gasp as she falls over screaming and writhing in pain. "Who the…" Janet Jackson begins to speak, then stops, seeing the one who unleashed the wave of force. A very tall and imposing middle-aged woman dressed completely in black leather has stepped into the room and is smiling at them, displaying many steel teeth. Piercings glitter in her nose, eyebrows, and lips, and so do several diamond studs all over her jacket, pants, and police-style cap. "Whoa," Rosie O'Donnell smiles. "Hello, Ms…?" "Marchioness Felicity Evangeline du Sade," the woman snaps. "You will refer to me as Mistress." Tapping the short black whip she holds in one gloved hand against the palm of her other one, she walks up to the EWS and grimaces. "You are the ones Geraldine wants me to train, to improve. I think you need it." She looks at each of them and growls. "You're way too thin with a chest that should be making you fall over," she tells Jenny McCarthy. "Hey!" McCarthy growls. "I paid well to look like this!" "You're too bony," du Sade moves on to Dr. Laura, ignoring her. "And that expression. Do you disapprove of something?" Dr. Laura opens her mouth to speak, then shuts it at a glare from du Sade's completely colorless eyes. "If you do, it should be about yourself," the strange woman laughs, then looks at Jenny Jones and Oprah Winfrey. "You both need to lose some serious weight. It's obvious your training regimen is not up to par at all." "We're doing well enough in it!" Jones protests. "Geraldine doesn't think so," du Sade laughs. "And I think at least one of you agrees." She looks at Oprah with a smile. "I've heard you're planning your own funeral." "I might soon need it," Oprah growls back. "Once I found out I couldn't back out of my contract with Gerry…she's not even giving us the proper tools to train with, you know! We're never going to be the super-tough women she wants!" "Never say never, sister!" du Sade laughs. "Yeah, what are you talking about?" Janet Jackson shouts. "I'm almost there!" "Actually, I've heard your performance has been lowest of all," du Sade counters with a smirk. "What?!" Janet's mouth falls open. "You can't talk that way to me! I'm…" She screams as du Sade flicks her whip, sending out another wave of black force that hits Janet hard and knocks her down to join Lake writhing on the ground. "You are a sack of meat that needs to be molded into a warrior," du Sade snaps at her. "And do you know who I am?" "You're a crazy bitch who's going to hurt us if we don't respect you?" Dr. Laura asks. "Exactly," du Sade turns and grins back at well. "Perform well, and you'll be rewarded. Don't and…well, this thing has many settings." She taps her whip in her hand. "I have only shown you the lowest thus far." "Do your worst," Rosie dares her angrily. "I've literally been through hell, I can take it." "We shall see about that," du Sade chuckles, then waves at them all to stand up and at attention, fingering the whip when they don't immediately comply. Instantly they all jump up and stand ready, Lake and Janet grunting with residual pain. "First we'll change your training room to one similar to what the Navy Seals use," du Sade declares. "Why Geraldine had you in here if she expects you to be proper soldiers I have no idea. Follow me!" As she turns around and starts to march off, the Scouts look at each other and frown, then shrug. "This can't be worse than the training we had before," Jenny Jones says as they start to follow du Sade. "Oh yes, it can," Oprah replies. "Things can always get worse before they get better." "I hope there's no more slime, is there?" McCarthy whines. The only answers she gets are mutters and snarls.
The display changes to outside Abdullah's mansion, where Apep is continuing to unleash barrages of bullets, lightning, and fire at the soldiers attacking him, the many weapons protruding from his robotic body smoking with heat. The soldiers are now in a fighting retreat, still shooting but recognizing they are not able to do much damage. Missiles from the STRIKE chopper and artillery shells still streak down from above every so often, but even they seem only to stun Apep. Lloky is lying on the ground a short distance away moaning in pain from several heavy wounds- she had tried to help the soldiers fight Apep but was among the first casualties of the battle. "We're almost out of ammo," Aussie is telling General Earle via the chopper's radio. "Why is this thing not going down?" "I wish I could tell you," the General grumbles. "It's more powerful than anything I've ever seen before, especially in defense." "The Desert Knights have fought dragons, genies, demons, and entire armies," Queen Noor agrees. "This thing is worse than all of them." "It amazes me that it seems to be responding so well to our tactics," Terrell says. "As soon as we shoot at it, it shoots right back at us and only by quick reaction are we able to evade. It's like it's thinking." "It probably is thinking," another caiveh warrior replies, "despite its sudden seemingly irrational attack." He grimaces at Terrell. "We had best flee the field, my lord. We cannot win against this monster, we've already lost over half our warriors." "So have the humans," Terrell snaps. "And we are still alive and able to fight." "So are we," King Abdullah II agrees. "We will strike this snake until it dies!" "But how long is that going to take?" Andrea Grey asks. "We're holding this thing off with our greater numbers for now, but eventually…" She is cut off by several soldiers' dying screams. "What is this thing," Colonel Amad growls, "that it can do so much damage by itself?!" "It is a machine of death," Ivan answers. "Of the worst kind." "Thank you for that glowing assessment," Earle grumbles, then switches frequencies. "Hack! This thing's program!" "Working on it, General," the STRIKE computer expert assures him, then switches frequencies on his own radio. "Hey, yo, Gubio! You any closer to figuring this thing out? What's in its head is more complicated than anything I've ever seen!" "A lot of the program functions seem to be completely automatic," Gubio muses from where he sits in the mansion's basement. "It's like the machine has its own instinct, which is practically impossible. Computers by nature take time to do complicated tasks, think about all their moves before they make them, if they can think. A robot can only respond to commands in the most basic ways, it can't do complicated actions entirely on its own like this dragon robot is. Even if Abdullah's controlling it, he can't possibly be keeping all these weapons and systems going at once all by himself and…" He stops, frowning. "That's funny, the program just reset itself. Okay, now it's back to normal. Weird." "Very weird," Hack agrees. "You don't switch your machine off in the heat of battle even for a second. Was that reset automatic or…" Gubio is about to reply, but hears a loud shout from behind him. He turns to see Harthoth groaning and clutching his head. "What? What is it?" Gubio asks him. "My master is angry," the Egyptian gargoyle looks up and replies, his body shaking with sweat. "He was supposed to control his new body and now he cannot. His every action is slave to the program, he does not like this. He is making it known to me. We never should have let Abdullah approach us with his offer to build such a machine!" "He approached you?" Gubio frowns. "I thought you approached him." "He offered to provide the money and engineers to build the body my master needed," Harthoth explains. "He knew about and approached us through his pet sorcerer Jazeem, I've taught that man a few spells over the years." "So he wanted to fulfill your master's need," Gubio rubs his chin, deep in thought. "I don't get it. Abdullah would obviously want something like this dragon, it's powerful enough he wouldn't need outside help to suggest it to him. With Tyl's hacking and all his money, he could have had it built himself. In fact, he did. All you provided was your master's spirit to inhabit it. So why would he have needed that spirit to be there. It doesn't make sense." "I agree," Harthoth says. "I did not consider that when we made our agreement. It does not make sense at all." Gubio nods, then suddenly his eyes light up and he snaps his fingers. "Unless…" "Unless what?" Harthoth asks, looking frantic. Gubio only grins in reply, turning back to the keyboard as the screen goes blank.
**TO BE CONTINUED, RP OVER FOR NOW**
<Doug walks in looking glum> Hey everybody. Glad to see the room looking so happy and spiffy with all the new pictures. I can't say I like losing last week to an IMO unnecessary mega-early wipe though. Robby, next time can you please give us a heads-up before you do something like that? Kit and I only really have time for one big catch-up post apiece every week and now I've lost the prompts for several replies I could have made to people who replied to my last post. I don't think I'm going to be able to remember all of them, and nobody sent me a copy of the lost CR either, so…:( I understand why you did the early wipe, but I still don't appreciate it. I hate to say that, but it's the truth. Life remains normal for me, no major events have happened since Kit's post Tuesday night. Except for Tricia saying yes to Jammer, which is good for them. :) Work is quiet, our two new hires from the past weekend are both working out great and doing their jobs. Another guy is not doing his and seems to have an endless supply of excuses for his negligence, Abel will be finding a replacement for him real soon. On Monday, we'll be moving furniture into the house. <excitement vibes> Now, on to what replies I can make. Apologies if I don't recall any particular question or comment anyone has asked me or made from the missed CR, please remind me if you desire a response to it. One will be given ASAP.
Rodlox, Mecord, Archwolf: I hope you guys are still in here lurking and not dead, your absence concerns me. $ Just so you know, Kit and I are going to move to write your characters out of the RP if you don't come back into it soon, or at least post. It's just too many plot threads for us to handle alone if we leave them in there. Yeah, it will take some time to work through all the plans we have for them (for you, Rodlox, there are quite a lot), but we're still going to do it. If you're gonna put characters in the game, in our opinions, you should participate in it and write their actions. We're only going to continue doing it for you so long. $ <sighs> Hope you're all doing okay, and are able to come back in soon. You are missed.
Lain: That's a sad life you've had alright. <grimaces> I can understand better why you're so down a lot of the time now that I know about it. I'm somewhat surprised but very glad you're still able to put happiness and humor in your posts a lot of the time, having lived through that. Obviously such experiences have given you great strength of character. That's always something to be proud of. :) Don't forget you have friends in here when you need them, especially when your memories have you down. I pray that things will be much calmer and easier for you in the future than they have been in the past. Kaioto, SJ, and Kit have already given you the best advice I could for dealing with the memories, all I can add is that I hope as they do that you will eventually be able to put all your anger and sadness aside and live on. You seem to be doing that already pretty well most of the time. <grin> Thanks for the very good points about anger you made during the recent conflict that went on in here.
<Hitler> I regard the guy as evil, but I don't think that absolves his responsibility for his actions. Far from it in fact. The choice to do evil or good with our lives is one we make ourselves, and we are always responsible for our choices. Do you not agree?
DumlaoX: I too hope you did well on the LSAT and those midterms. Please let us know when you get them back. BTW, I find it a bit strange that you took the former big exam. I can't really picture you as a lawyer. <shrugs> Glad you have power, and the problems don't affect the whole state. <400+ Genesis games on one CD> Damn, I didn't know CDs had that much memory. Of course Deus Ex is one CD amazingly enough. <shrugs> Glad you're enjoying all the games, I personally think Michael Jackson's Moonwalker was way more fun in the arcade (make those bad guys dance! :). Kit and I probably won't be attending GK21, sorry. Getting the house has put our finances in a ruff. The jobs are keeping us busy too. Thanks for the thought of the gift though, hopefully we'll find some way to pick it up.
GXB: Count me in as another person who hopes Milosevic gets what's coming to him. Every time I've read about that guy and the awful things he's done in the newspaper, I've felt angry someone like that can actually hold power amongst our species. <sigh> As for Bush giving our taxes to religious charities, I personally support it. I've seen many examples in my life of religion and faith motivating people to do good works, and thus I believe we should support them in those works. I think that the tax dollars should be used for the good works though, and not to support the religions' proselytizing and such. Hopefully there's an oversight committee watching for that. <fingers crossed>
Jannie: Best of luck with the meningitis epidemic, I hope it soon blows over and doesn't strike anyone close to you. The Eagle Scout Ceremony pictures look great, congrats on having it go so well. Especially considering how it got so hectic with that forgotten medal. <grin> Kit and I hope to move into our house soon, but it's going to take us a pretty long time, especially with all the stuff we have to move from our apartment. We'll keep the CR up to date on things as best we can.
DPH: Glad to hear your drug test finally came back, hope you can get the job soon now. Thanks for the description of it, it sounds like interesting work. I wish you had told us exactly what it is though. :( The description you gave could fit any number of companies. <I'm smarter than my immediate boss> I bet your boss has a lot more experience with management and the company though, and thus he's probably better suited for his job than you would be. That's how it is with me and Abel, I'm smarter than him about many things, and I have a _way_ better long-term memory, but he's a lot better at his job than I would be due to his greater experience. That, and Abel's ability to somehow continue putting up with all the crazy things that our officers have done and continue to do as well as all that happens on the job which he hears about keeps me respecting the guy despite his flaws. I'd imagine it's the same with you and your boss. Kit already mentioned where my high school diploma is, my college degree is now hanging framed on the wall courtesy of Kit's Valentine's gift. :)
Jaden: I also wish you luck with that training exercise, hope you do well with it. Come back soon.
Hyperion: Welcome back, good to see you. I agree that life is always worth it, no matter what bad experiences one has to go through along the way. That's why suicide is always such a terrible tragedy, everyone should be able to percieve the worth of their life and be proud of the good things they've done. Not all of us can feel that way, though. :( But it's good that those of us who can and do are usually able to talk about it in an eloquent and inspiring manner. <grin>
Stephen: You're welcome on your eyes, I hope you can get them fully fixed soon. Congrats to Heather on her new job, and thank you for the congrats on the house. If you want to sing at our wedding or send us a gift, we'd appreciate either. We still haven't set a date, so don't start making your plans yet. $ Glad you used Hero Machine to illustrate your RP characters, I think they look good. Same to Wilek and Warpmind. I hope you bring them back into the action soon, I have to admit it's somewhat boring with just Kit and me telling the RP story. But you might want to wait till we cut the number of plots down- we're slowly but surely doing that now. $
Kaioto: You're correct about writing and art, it's all usually based on things that we have seen before in our lives. And yet often there are many very original gems to be found in both fields. :) Good points nonetheless. Good points about the future also. Thanks for making them, and for stepping in to stop the recent conflict between Kit, James, and Kirshanta. Bad memories of previous flame wars and work eating up my free time kept me from participating in that conflict, though I was of course very much on Kit's side and did not like at all James's attitude. <growls> I'm glad it's over now, we'll try to contact you next time something like it happens, though we are the kind of people who usually prefer to settle things ourselves when people make us mad. I hope certain despicable things that went on in here which were mentioned during the conflict are completely over too. <tosses a mini-nuke in a certain pit to make clear one of the things he means> I would have voiced protest, but had many better more interesting things to comment on and thus found it easier to ignore the things I didn't like. Perhaps I should not have done that. :(
Gunjack: Congrats on the good ACT score, if you got one. Like you, I have confidence you did. :) Glad your life's been going well, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised and confused by some of the hassles you mention having in it. L
SJ: Good point about being a smartass, I never really thought that it could be beneficial to self-esteem. Makes sense though. The bit about stubborness makes sense too. Makes me glad to have cultivated those qualties in myself. :) Thanks for the good bit about them, and yeah, it may not have been crazy philosophy, but I think understanding helped more in Lain's case. Mine too. :) I regret missing that real funny bit you mentioned SNL having recently, I quit watching that show a while back. Maybe I need to start again. I too do not like it when the CR's lovely women are depressed, and am very glad to see them brightening up, or so it seems. :)
Richard, NukesGoBoom: Welcome to you both.
Robby: Hope you read my bit above concerning the early wipe. I'm not that mad about it, I should probably note. I just don't like having my posting routine broken somewhat. But it was probably due to happen sooner or later anyway. <grin> Glad you liked the poem. I hope all those projects and hassles in your life aren't driving you as crazy as they would me, and that you can keep handling them. May you soon get enough of them done to get back your free time.
Christine: The next AvMists Writer's Challenge is one whose results I am very much looking forward to, hope it has many contributors. I regret not having the time to participate in it myself. :( Good luck with the GURPS commissions and with revising Archmage, I'm glad it's progressing. Hope things are going well with Black Roses too.
Winterwolf: Looking forward to Shadowrider's questions, thanks for sending the letter to him. Thanks for your hopes too, I wish you the best of luck with all the paperwork and junk mail bogging you down.
SOROW: Your deadliest enemy is working at the same place you are? Well, if Kit could handle Gus… Good luck, I'm confident you can deal with this enemy. Try to get your boss to schedule you to different shifts than him or her if you can, that might help you handle the situation and avoid any trouble. Condolences on the ruined cake, at least it appears your friend wasn't too mad about it. :)
Spacebabie: Congrats on the healed hamstring, hope the rash soon heals too if it hasn't already. Those are never fun. :( BTW, what exactly is glomping?
Mary: Hey, everyone deserves love. That includes you. :) Hope you're able to find it someday, later if not soon. You're very right about the benefits of it. Glad to hear your self-esteem is coming back.
Mandi: <moment of silence for Traci Spengler> What happened with her reminds me of what happened with Charles. He went to the hospital, we all hoped and prayed, I heard he was improving, and then…<sigh> I didn't know this person you mentioned, hadn't even heard of her before, but if you mourn, so do I. That's friendship. :) And the Internet does not kill or ruin it, no matter what any idiot says. :)
Wilek: Now that I think about it, you could be right about Willy Wonka. I feel very creeped out all of a sudden. <shivers> BTW, I'm still laughing from remembering your responses to the poem I posted last week. :)
Daphne: Good luck finding a prom date, since you feel you have to. I originally felt I had to find a date too, then everybody already had one or wouldn't go with me. :( So I went stag and ended up having a lot of fun just the same. I hope you find the right person for the prom and not somebody who ends up making you feel like you wasted the night in some way. My best friend in high school had that problem, as did my longtime friend Tricia Messina, who's going to be maid of honor for Kit and me. :( I'm glad she's happy with Jammer now. Good luck to you and your friends with the new relationships, I hope the one you're fixing up knows about it and is not angry. I understand your V-day boycott, but like Kit I don't think I'd ever join such a thing myself. Love is too important to me. <grin>
Daniel Johnson: <laughs at Something Completely Different> Thanks for the good humor, we need more of that in here. A lot more. :) Kit and I will definitely be keeping your friend's cancer-plagued fiance in our prayers, I hope the situation somehow gets better for them before its final end. <sigh>

Dure hmm the short of it is she is spike’s ex girl and the one who made him a vampire. She is psychic and lonney as a goon. The chip is a device implanted in spikes head by a secret government agency that causes him incredible pain if he tries to harm a human. He can kill supernatural things but no humans.
Speaking of evil and bad things how I knew I definitely did not want to see battlefield earth. I went to dragon con and they had the director and production crew at the con and they were showing the movie for free. I was curious so I decided to go to a panel the director was holding to see if I wanted to see the movie for free (I already had a negative opinion about it) Well this one quote sums up the panel dir in a whiny voice “I don’t think its fair to judge this movie as a theater quality movie it is and was meant to be a B movie” Yep I walked out and did not bother to go see it. Now the Laurell Hamilton panel rocked!
I hope every one had a Happy V day

Ahh ... life is good. :)
Jessie Feff: I wouldn't say it was completely abysmal ... but the year in movies *did* leave something to be desired, methinks. Aside from X-Men, I didn't really thoroughly enjoy myself at many movies this year ... save for Hannibal, and that doesn't count.
SJ: Like your analysis. Probably close. And even though I haven't seen CTHD, I'd be willing to bet it's as good as you say.
Valentine's Day: Well, if you couldn't tell from yesterday, I did thoroughly enjoy mine (as did Milady Corax ...) ... but how'd everyone else's go? :)
Hero Machine: Managed to get it to work finally. Got some pretty good versions of a good bunch of characters ... including my old RP personality with some updating ... anyone's interested, I'll pass it along in e-mail.
Doug: Picture it this way ... "Happiest Place on Earth" is probably going to be to TGS what "Vendettas" is to the original series. If you recall, "Vendettas" was pretty much the same way as "Happiest Place" is ... a lighthearted story with a skewed viewpoint that tied in loosely with continuity but really stood more on its own. And also ... I guess it's also in the sense that you either love it or hate it. **shrugs** Ah well. *I* had fun writing it at least. :)
lain: Have fun in London. :)
**remembers Mandi's post, observes a brief moment of silence for Traci Spengler**
**reads Love's Dreamie's post** wow ... now *that's* romantic. :)
XenaTrek: Hi there, girl. Thanks for the e-card again. **hugs** :)
Well, that's all for me tonight. I think that's all the coherent thought I have left, to be honest ... ;)

Yep, this was truly a year for awful movies. I particularly love some of the critics' opinions of Battlefield Earth:
"stomach-wrenching disaster"
"heaping mass of celluloid excrement"
"a million monkeys with a million crayons would be hard-pressed in a million years to create anything as cretinous"
Those were from eonline.com. Another tidbit from that article: the movie that "won" the most Razzies was Showgirls with seven. Battlefield Earth has eight nominations. Oh, and would it surprise you know that Sylvester Stallone has 25 nominations under his belt?

Taleweaver - you wrote <<why doesn't [Buffy] just stake him and be done with it.>>. Maybe on some level the scoobies think this is a more fitting (not to mention sadistic) punishment for Spike's crimes. The fact that he can't bite is obviously torturing Spike. Just look at "Doomed" where Spike's so depressed he wants to stake himself. If they kill him his suffering is over, but if they let him live Spike will have to endure an eternity of humiliation as an impotent vampire and outcast from demon society. Xander in particular seems to be enjoying the fact that he can now kick Spike's butt with impunity.

Buffy * Possible Spoilers* >
Spike as a security risk? I think that will be covered next week. But you know, I'm not convinced Buffy doesn't have feelings for Spike. I mean why doesn't she just stake him and be done with it. (Please bear in mind, I'm a 'Big Bad' fan myself.) But it's not like they think of him as part of the Scoobies. He has murdered and caused mayhem for more than a century. What's keeping the Buffster from introducing Spike to Mr. Pointy? Makes you wonder.

DAVID G. - On the subject of Corbie, I must confess that I recently had one idea for a line about her and her period of dating Emrys that I regret came too late to me (just a few days ago, in fact) for us to be able to use it in "Pendragon". It was a bit where Emrys would comment that the first time around he was an adolescent, Goths were a barbarian tribe that were sacking Rome. Pity that that idea only occurred to me after we wrote and released our stories involving those two.
I've got to admit, I really like the updates to this room. (I'm still sticking with my original pic, for the time being, though).

:: tries a new pic ::
Just trying out a character I helped introduce when I was still in TGS. I like the new pics... there's so many I haven't seen before, too. The main series just started up again... so I guess I must just have a lot of back episodes of Pendragon and Timedance to catch up on. Adding the additional links to the top of the room is a nice touch, too. So cheers to all the folks who've been working on the CR updates. :)

Man, one week you go away & look what happens. Here we go in order of apperance...
MARY-- First off, you can't let the world get to you if they seem to be on your back for how you are. It's just not positive. If anything, do what I do. Whenever the world hates on me, I let it feed my desire to do better and ultimately give all those who hated me a big F-U! You will come out on top. YOu will be a success. And you will find someone who will respect that and not see your personality as immature. Bank on that.
XFL-- Last Saturday's game between the Xtreme and the Enforcers is a damn good example of why I love this league. Big comebacks, double overtime, and players REALLY into the game. I haven't been excited about a football game since the Super Bowl... when the Titans got beat by the Rams.
TENCHI-- Ah, yes. This is a great series. I already own movies 1,2 and am planning to get movie #3 as well as the Universe & Tokyo series. as for the original OVA, I'm waiting to get enough cash for the box set. All DVD, of course, so I can get my fill of both languages.
ROBBY-- Daamn, man. It really has been a long time since I've been here. Especially if I can't remember when I gave you the job of wiping the room :P
NUKESGOBOOM-- Welcome to the comment room. Feel free to post about anything anytime :)
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA-- It's in a filing cabinet along with my other schooll related records.
LSAT-- I think I did well on it. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Hopefully, my hunch about me doing well prove to be right. I'll find out in 5 weeks.
TGS-- All this stuff happening in my life & I STILL haven't read an episode. Before Gathering 2K1, I need to drown myself in the eps.
KIRSHANTA-- Unless this has already been answered, when I was on staff, we had no real limits in terms of length. We based everything on group consensous and gut feeling. If it seemed too long, then we let each other know.
PATRICK & KIRSHANTA-- Just curious here. And I don't mean to be so prying, but when did you guys suddenly become an item? >:)
KIT-- Hehehe, yeah, get that Dreamcast whenever possible. Definitly a great system, even for basic Web-TV style websurfing. Oh, are you guys gonna hit LA for Gathering 2K1? If so, lemme know so I can give you guys your wedding present...
A Dreamcast CD with 400+ Genesis games in it.
I just finished the thing about a few minutes ago. I haven't tested it thoroughly but it works DAMN well. In fact, I was playing a lil Michael jackson's Moonwalker and Comix Zone before i came here.
As for the power. no, I haven't been teasing all the unfortunate here. Actually, come to think of it, except for Northern California, there's no one here in Southern California without power. Everyone's getting their daily requirement of electric juice :P
CR PICS & COLORS-- To the people responsible for getting this room updated with new colors & pics, I salute you. Hell, for get salute. I bow at your feet. I'll grovel if you want :P Whatever you did to get Gore to come out of hiding and update the place, it worked :)
On a side note, I dunno how the hell any of you artist type people can stand editing pictures and cleaning them up. I remember editing some of these pics for the CR before my departure (including some of the new ones here. They were in storage.) It was HELL trying to make each pic meticulously perfect for CR viewing. And resizing is another story altogether :P
OSCARS-- Believe me, I'd love it if Crouching Tiger, HIdden Dragon got the best picture nod. However, since it's also nominated in the Best Foreign Language category as well, it'll grab that and not best pic. It happened before when Life Is Beautiful got both nominations and it'll happen again this year. If anything, the night will go to either Gladiator for best pic or Erin Brokovich. Though, if there's a film I'm gonna have to vote against, it's gonna be Erin. I didn't thin the movie was that great. To me, it just dragged on and on and on...
DANIEL-- My prayers go out to your friends. As a son of a father that suffered through cancer, I know how painful the effects can be, especially, the final throngs. Hang in there, man.
LAIN-- Enoy London. Have tons of fun there & bring back souviners :)
And that is that. Knowing me, I'll probably post the next time the room clears :P
Till next time...

*Warpmind enters, staring around in confusion, his form slightly altered*
Hmmm... with the new picture package, I might as well experiment a little... For now...
Aaron: My friend, I could order the Xxxenophile albums directly from the publisher, from their website, if I cared enough. But I just don't want to pay international shipping costs... 'Tis all. :) And that bracelet/collar bit was not about a leash - it was a subtle Wheel of Time reference. ;) (By the way, you claim to both be hentais... hmmm... I'm not gonna finish that sentence after all...) Good Survivor ideas, though... I've one of my own.
Survivor VII: Mir. Send the crew up. The one who survives as the Russians shoot it out of orbit wins. (Must be done soon, as I believe the shootdown is due in March, or something...)
Daniel Johnson: GEP gun? Sniper rifle? Naaah, I prefer to boost up Combat Strength and hack away with my delicious Dragon's Tooth Sword. ]:) Plus, I'm experiencing these strange urges to hack all the ATMs I see, and drain the acocunts I access... :|
DPH: Illuminati pins can be acquired either by being recommended by someone who is already an Illuminatus, thus gaining membership OR you gould fork up the couple dollars it would cost to order one from SJ Games or Christine here. ;) (Personal suggestion - go with the yellow one, or the light blue one, maybe?)
Ironwolf: Gotcha. Um, and just to get a few things straight there, who the heck is Drue? :| And what's this chip, anyway?
Lain: You're going to England? Bon voyage, girl!
Well, that concludes my post for now, I guess... Later, gang. *Flops down with Lynati and begins inconspicuously nibbling on her earlobe.*

Gside: <Not really>
Sucks.
<Not really. I think it's set for the entire dorm system>
Hmm... The law that can't be broken can surely be bent...
Are you telling me that with a whole school of CompSci students that they can't hack their way past that little problem?
I mean, I really don't think the school would mind 35GB of downloads between 10pm and 6am! :)
<...I'll pass>
I really set myself up for that one, didn't I?
Seriously, though, how far are you on downloading Ranma?
SJ: There are SO many possabilitys about your Tom Cruise post that I don't know where to start!
What was that? I was getting Access Denied errors a few seconds ago!

Spacebabie> <<Glomps Winterwolf,Sevarius Jr,Pissy,Warpmind,Wilek,Gunjack,Todd,the Daniels,Robby,Coyote,Aaron,Greg,and Kaito...>>: I feel unloved, being compressed into an elipsis (sarcastic).
Kirshanta> <<thats why everyone has their email next to their names right?>>: Well, every field is pretty much optional, and it is not too unusual to not inclue an email address (nor to difficult to include a fake email address). I'd say it's easier to put it in a place ensured to be read by the intended people.
<<although I hope you don't get kicked out for it>>: I believe there have only been two recorded bannings, those of a couple that posted a nigh endless string of short insults.
Fire Storm> <<Ya gotta know someone that can change it, right?>>: Not really. I think it's set for the entire dorm system. And the physics department has to pay for its bandwidth here.
Niamhgold> <<And hugs to Dreamie, Doug, Winterwolf, Emambu, and Gside!>>: Whoo hoo.
Gunjack> <<When involved in Valentine's day business via internet, do NOT absently mess with the powerstrip with your foot>>: Ruins the mood, huh?
New Pics> Woot. Though I'll stay imageless.
Aaron> <<figured I'd grab that one before Gside got to it>>: Actually, I can't see any innuendo there at all.
<<it sure as heck isn't massages>>: Well, it all depends on what they are massaging. To use one of Garret Glick's catchphrases (a contributor to the Medium (an incredibly disreputable Rutgers newspaper) also know for clown wig, Bob Sagat, and shortish mexican fellows): "It feels good in the prostate."
<<Laws of supply and demand, dude>>: Of course, but it is also important to remember it is an offshoot of the oldest profession.
<<Anybody got any others?>>: Douglass: Standard rules for males, females must remain straight.
Daniel Johnson> Condolences on your friend's situation.
<<He is the god of power tools>>: Hallelujiah.
Daphne> <<it's for two people and you register your date>>: Set up a booth next to the purchasing area requesting someone to go halves on a ticket.
I can tell already that the Lapin picture is really going to bother me. And flipping it to make the hands right makes him play to the edge of the CR. And I just noticed something else wrong with the clarinet (the fingers aren't lined up).
Fire Storm> <<Ok... so I suck>>: ...I'll pass.
I feel like having another B artist. How about a Barry? Let's see, I've got White and Manilow. While the former has a nice resonant voice, I think I'll go with the latter. You can now get I Write the Songs by Barry Manilow.

Now this is unexpected! :) Can someone please do me a very big favor and e-mail me last week's CR (not the CR before Robby's sudden wipe, the CR before that) if anyone managed to save it? Thanks in advance.
Hope these new pics all turn out great as they seem to. :)

**simply submits to Lady Corax's kiss for what seems like an eternity before it finally breaks, sitting there wide-eyed and panting ... but grinning**
Whoa ...
**grins really wide now**
Whatta woman!
**walks out arm-in-arm with Lady Corax, turning on a boombox just outside the door as they exit. "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" plays muffled through the door**

Top Ten! :)
I LOVE the new pics. Just awesome...plus I have TWO "Ravyn" related pics to choose from! You guys rock. :)
But for tonight, I just HAD to use this pic...seeing as how it's the big V-Day, yep, Valentine's Day (and also Arizona's birthday as a state, did y'all know that?) :)
Anyways, this is kinda the first Valentine's Day I've had someone be my valentine that's so darn sweet, caring, wonderful, creative, talented as an artist and writer, has one heck of a singing voice, and also cares enough about me to send me roses...not to mention spends a great deal of time just talking with me every time we get a chance...that itself just amazes me...:)
So anyway, Coyote, this one's for you, my valentine, and thank you for everything...**walks over to him, wrapping her arms around him and giving him a nice long, passionate kiss**
Hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day too! :)

Fire Storm: I would say that Tom is gay (repeat with me, boys and girls: "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"), but he has this nasty habit of suing the pants off (hee hee) of anyone who claims that he rides the balony pony.
All I can say is this--If I was married to Nicole Kidman, I wouldn't have to ADOPT children.

Gunjack: Ok, FINE. Go and find the 8 bad pics right off the bat. :)
Well, before people REALLY start looking for the 8 pics that messed up, here they are:
Akai
Atalanta with Bow
Banshee
Fushcia
Goliath and Demona (Silouette)
Gruoch
Javin (angry)
Sailor Ariana
Hey, out of 210 pics, 8 bad isn't half bad! That's a margin of error of only 3.8%!
I have e-mailed the fix to Gorebash.
SJ: <The longer it takes to squeeze out another Matrix movie, the more I remember that Keanu has all of the acting talent of tampon. A *used* tampon.>
Hmm... I am reminded of a joke about vampires and tea... :)
Speakin of Scientologists, why do you think Tom and Nichole REALLY broke up?
That whole "Tom is gay and they are together because the Scientologists would blackmail them if they broke up" thing?
The theory that they are the breeders for the Scientologists idea of world perfection?
Any other ideas?

Third, I believe. Let's see how Corbie turned out. She'd be my favorite character if she wasn't an evil, sociopathic Unseelie.
In fact, that's not really a problem. :)

warpmind de InzanE you are right Angel was cursed to keep his soul that is why he could fall in love with buffy when the curse was lifted he became like every other vampire in the series Evil with a capital E. Yet Spike seems different even per chip. Most, not all, of spike motives have been about protecting the one he loves. I mean he hunted angel down so he could do some ritual to save drue. that was the main reason they came to sunnydale. Drue was dying and spike risked all to save her. As a matter of fact Spike was at his worst when he didn’t love anyone. Good points about there being good demons, but some of those are halfbreed humans mixes ok one of them. Still all the Vampires seem to have been evil except angel (cursed with his soul) and spike.

Wow, a change of pace in the actual posting setup for the first time in years... Neat. In any event, I'm gonna wipe the room REAL early this weeks so as to accomodate all the new pics and allow all browers and stuff to update, not to mention make it easier to find glitches and stuff. (I'll wipe as normal on Saturday tho.) Alas, I'm still to busy to do a real post... (Doesn't help matters any that Timedancer breakdowns just kicked in full behind the scenes...)
And I think I'll post with this piccie, since I'm the one that did it and I have something of an attachment to the character... Either this one or Pietr Domovoi, I'm not sure which yet...
