:::Bounds into the CR::: Hey all! My last week was spent counseling 6th graders at an outdoors education camp.... fun. ^_~
Imzadi:<< ..but I didn't want to overwhelm you with 400 requests from CR dwellers to draw them,>> Which never has, and probably never will happen ^_~ <<Oh come on! Take one for the team! 8-)>> While supporting a worthwhile group is a bonus, I'm afraid my body belongs to someone else and he's not sharing. :::chuckle::: <<What? You're b/f is a flamer? Huh?>> Oh on the contrary... but I'll let you see for yourself. <<We don't wanna see that in here. Keep it PG-13, please.>> And I'm guessing the "we" part doesn't include you? <<but if its labelled "warpmind" and its not supposed to be you, then I should change the name".>> And here I was wondering why warpmind had bosoms.... <<Wanna do any more gargs before may 31? Pretty please? With chocolate syrup on top (or whipped cream, or whatever topping you prefer)?>> Sure... And I take payments in cans of whip cream. Endless fun, that. :::evil grin::: <<Bah. Behold the glory of my 3.96!
>> Behold the majesty of my 4.0 ^_~
Beth H: Aw... I love hearing about other people's loves... It's just so sappy and I can finally relate. ^_~
Christine: <<garg store in the U-district?>>I believe so... I just did a search and it turns out they have a website: http://gargoylestatuary.com/ ....And I'm going to go there tomorrow to give them a few fliers ^_~
Warpmind:<< But seriously, I'm looking forward to meeting you. I sense great jesting to take place then...)>> I'm looking forward to it to... We'll all have a blast I'm sure! ^_^ <<Dirty sounding words>> Anything's dirty if you think about it. <<I suspect large quantities of tranquilizers should be acquired... };)>> Oh don't worry, there'll be someone there to keep my....eh... person... in check. <<*Suddenly smiles unethically.* Hmmm... Lynati... LA... me... single room at the hotel... the day BEFORE the Gathering... Oh, JOY!!! };) Hehehe... I'm feeling amped, all of a sudden. };) >> I hear ya.... I think we all will need to respect noise ordinances (at least a bit anyway:::chuckle:::).
Lynati:<< DON"T CALL AGAIN UNTIL AFTER G'01!!>> Jesus H. Masey use a talk program :::chuckles::: Chitchat for hours and not even a phone bill.
Mecord:<<my wedding>> That's just so cute....... :::wide grin:::
Lain:<< canada - were kinda like the hole in the donut, eh?>> Empty space people go around and occasionally stick a tongue at?
Greg B:<< There's not one but of Sgt. Slaughter DNA in Serpentor, I have the 5-parter "Arise Serpentor, Arise" on tape, and while Cobra stole his DNA, Slaughter destroyed the sample.>> O.o... Dude I don't know what you're talking about... but I'm scared.
Niamhgold:<< We've got to get another one of those chat sessions going again>> Definitely! That was fun, but I hope we didn't scare you too much :::laughs::: <<< Pikachus> Oh, yes >:) They'll be mounted on the walls soon enough!>> Mmmm.... Heavenly room awaits...... And every time you open the door can there be a bloodcurdling cry of "PPPPPIIII-KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! :::abrupt end:::" ? <<GPA>> congrats! <<Medical illustration>> Oooo... hey you know that sounds like fun! <<is it digital or marker medium>> Just Photoshop, sometimes Trias in a blue moon. <<My jaw hit the floor, and that ain't a lie!>> That must have hurt... no, really, my jaw did the same thing when I saw *your* work. ^_^ <<So, who's excited for the Gathering? The lucky people who get to go better take some nice pictures for me! ;)>> Informative warning: You may be overwhelmed with couple pics. (No not *that* kind!)
Aaron:<< It'll be the mother of all auctions.>> O.o I'll say. (Just for fun... let's get Winterwolf in there to drop more CDs :::chuckles::: )
DPH:<< Believe it or not, a visit to foxkids.com overloaded my PC>> I blame new management... without Winterwolf there everything goes to seed.
Winterwolf:<< I'm here. I'm utterly depressed at the moment because...>> Aw... ain't that special ^_^ <<I better watch what I say at the Gathering or I'm in for it. Or maybe I'm in for it no matter what...;)>> Probably the later :::wiggles tickle fingers evilly::: >:)
Hey all... I found this amusing for at least a good 5 minutes: "You too can be your own action figure!" http://www.andgor.com/Personalized_Figures/personalized_figures.html
Toodles! ^_^

****Kyryn steps into the room.****
Alan, Aaron, Robby, and anyone else from out of town who's headed in to A-kon tonight or tomorrow: please watch the weather and be safe on the roads. They're predicting thunderstorms for tonight and possibly early tomorrow.
I'll see whoever's coming to A-kon there. I'll probably check the room again early tomorrow morning and then be offline until Monday night.
Anyone who hasn't met me before and wants to meet at A-kon: ask a staffer for Beth from Guest Relations. Most of them will know who you're talking about. I can't guarantee that I'll have a lot of free time, but I look forwarded to seeing some folks at the con.
Later!

Well, this'll probably be my last post for a while, as I'm off to A-kon. Robby's going to be there too, so if any of you would like to prove, once and for all that we're separate people, c'mon down.
GXB> My "clones" are people who I find I have freaky similarities to. Which I guess would be you, Robby, Joxter, Mara's friend Robin, etc. It's sort of a running gag.
Josh> <<virtually nothing your machine can do that an iMac can't>> Besides save a file to floppy? ;) <<2 was the rule of thumb>> Then why the slogan, "How could three month salary last forever?"

*Warpmind enters, looking grumpy.*
Just got back from the dentist's... basically, a pre-going-abroad checkup... three little cavities filled; one so small the cooling water for the drill couldn't flow... that smell will haunt me for life... :(
Mec: Woohoo! Long time no see, my pointy-eared friend! A big congrats to you on your upcoming celebration! As for the self insertion bit... *Snicker* I can visualize it... "You're me! Outside, NOW!" };)
Lain: I knew you would like that. Hey, good luck today, huh? :)
Josh: Actually, there is a VAST number of things an iMac can do that my machine can't - I've got a 486, remember? (I post from dad's machine - PII 350.) But at least we agree on the iMacs. As for the other Macs... I just don't want'em. I WANT the command prompt option of DOS. Which is why I don't want anything after Win 98, either, as far as MS goes... Oh, and what the HECK do you mean, you're too biased about my person, too??? };)
Spacebabie: Odd, that... I have no trouble sleeping after either reading or watching movies by King/Koontz... well, that does of course not count "Watchers Reborn"; that movie was HORRIBLE! ;)
Well, that's it... I gotta go take care of my numb jaw... Later.

Steven Sobotka Jr.>> Far it to be from me to count myself a member of the elusive circle of the fanfic authors, I think of myself to be a mere dabbler in the fine arts. Yet, as anyone may have a look on his/her/its own, the counters do show that someone seemed to be at least interested in what I have written. Even the third story, posted at around a week later than the first two, was accessed numerous times.
Criticism (constructive criticism, please) and praise would of course be welcome, but I don't rely on it. I've written my stories as a pastime and had never expected to actually post them at the beginning...
So, even if you don't get any feedback (you _may_ count this as 'feedback', too), please do continue writing. Surely there are ppl out here who enjoy reading.

King vs. Koontz > Koontz is a perfectionist; he has to have a reason for everything and goes over each page 20 times in revision ... whereas King is prone to just say "here's the situation, nobody knows why, let's rock," and flies by the seat of his pants. They differ greatly in style and approach. I must say, lately I'm getting a bit tired of the wonky-spiritual-uplifting kick Koontz has been on for the past few books. I prefer his mid-range stuff, around the time of Strangers, Lightning, Phantoms, and Midnight. I need to re-read King's latest, because I was flat exhausted the night I read it and am probably misremembering it ... gross book, though. ; )

Alright just hold on there one second! Why do *I* have to be an SJ clone? Why can't *HE* be a Josh clone!? I mean, I'm obviously proof of superiority through genetic engineering, but my parents are way too proud to have not created their own child. They would, however, be more than happy to have shared my genes with other parents, just so they could brag about it later.
And then I realize...SJ is older than me.
Ooops.
Anyway, I'm quite certain I'm not SJ's clone. For one, I'm not as funny as he is. I have the same deadpan and sarcasm, but the "funny" just isn't there.
Okay everyone can breathe a huge sigh of relief now. I got a B in physics! That class was so hard that I wasn't sure I'd pass, but I got just above the mean on the final and WOO HOO!
::backflips::
In other news, I managed to really annoy my parents. Remember I said that my father told me I couldn't buy my laptop because my mom lost her job? Well, I decided that if *I* can't spend $2000 slightly frivolously (which is a matter of opinion), neither can anyone else in this household. So I've started calling my parents on every dollar, forcing them to justify it. Pisses them off, but damned if I'm gonna let my mom buy a nice cell phone that she doesn't need so that I can't eat next year.
If anyone is interested, my roommate/best friend made it into several mac news sites with his hardware hack of the new iBook. Check it out at http://mike.axisproductions.com/clarus/
Warpmind: <<I utterly despise what they did to computers>>: Let me say a few things in the iMac's defense, even though I, too, hate that computer. First, it is a real machine. Besides play a few different variations of quake, there is virtually nothing your machine can do that an iMac can't, and several things it can do that yours can't. Second, it is not the only machine apple makes. They make 4 other machines, all of which are gorgeous. Third, you can't deny that there are people that will walk into a store, see the iMac, and say "that's so cute, I want one!" That's who its for. Its not for you and me, because we'd kick it. <<I'm too biased about my person>>: Me too...but I'm not sure if that's a reason to keep me out or not.
Mecord: <<I take myself out eventually>>: How exactly do you do that? Gruesome death? <<bash Utah>>: Its so easy its not even worth the bytes.
Lain: <<this card wont talk to windows>>: That card and I have something in common. <<nope, sorry, i couldnt find the driver>>: That's because it looks for the drivers on the internet, using the non-existent modem. <<you dont REALLY have to call me a waaaaaambulance>>: Would you like some cheese with that whine? <<the laptop? new?>>: Wasn't talking about the laptop. <<instead of being nice and convenient and just having BOTH>>: Would it be nice and convenient for the laptop to weigh 3 pounds more? Didn't think so. There is a reason they do these things.
Naimgold: <<teenage boys would be quite a (ahem) handful ;)>>: handful of what? <<I snuck out of that class early _everyday_ >>: Are you still in high school? Because such a thing matters not in college. <<bumps my GPA to a healthy 3.94>>: Bah. Behold the glory of my 3.96! Ah, high school...those were the days. The cars were fast and the women were faster. <<mentally stable 'rents>>: If my 'rents were mentally stable I wouldn't mind spending so much time with them. <<Josh Wurzel>>: Josh, or Imzadi...not Josh Wurzel. It's so...formal. <<love the dry wit!>>: Ditto. But I'd like to add more. <<I wish I could effectively utilize>>: You and me both. <<what's the difference, right?>>: One of them you have to buy a car before they'll perform well. Otherwise, very little. <<that is skinny>>: I know. Chicks hate me. <<website>>: Ah, there we go, something must have been wrong with Pacbell's DNS. Many of your little picture icons are broken. Nice artwork, though. Very nice. <<I love well-done canon characters>>: Can I talk you into doing a few in the next couple days before Avmists?
Aaron: <<kelsey grammer>>: My bad, it was John Lithgow. I thought it was kelsey. <<another one of my clones>>: Ha! Like my parents would pay for a clone of a texan. <<Lakers suck!>>: And that would affect me how? <<drop another three months salary>>: I thought 2 was the rule of thumb for wedding rocks...what could you possibly be spending *3* on?!
Greg X: <<Josh does have a cool site>>: Thanks.
To everyone who's visited my site, thanks for all saying its cool. Though quite frankly, I already knew it rocked. I don't suffer from website insecurity. Does anyone have any suggestions? Improvements? Etc?
Anyone else want to do some free commissions for the icons!?

Stephen Sobotka Jr.> I never get any feedback on my work either, and I don't let that stop me from writing.
I let laziness stop me instead. :P
Seriously, I've learned that it's hard to get feedback. When you're good, everybody's happy, so they have no reason to complain, and when you're bad they don't want to hurt your feelings. It's hard to keep going against the wall of silence, but I hope you'll stick with it.

Hi Guys! I was just checking in! Sorry that I haven't posted in her in the last few weeks, but lately I've been either too busy or too lazy. I have been keeping check on other people post though.
I suppose I better fill you all in. I finshed my sophomore year at Wayne State College on May 5th and a couple weeks ago my sister graduated High School.
A week and a half ago I started work at Nebrask Health Systems in Omaha as a Environment Services Tech. Basicly custodial work. I'm working 40 hours a week and have to live upststairs in my Grandfather's house a week at a time. He doesn't have a computer, so I won't be able to get in touch with you very often.
Some good news, my weight is down to 260 pounds! Ten pounds to go! Thank you, Slimfast!
The magnesium citrate doesn't hurt either ; )
Soon I'll be starting Kung Fu and probably take some handgun combat classes at the Bullethole in Omaha.
Some more good news. I have recently purchased a pre-ban Misr-10, a varient of the Avtomat Kalashnikova Modernizirovannyi, Model 1947, made by the Maadi corporation in Cairo, Egypt.
In other words, I bought a never before used AK-47!
All my life I've been plinking with .22 and 20 guage shotguns, I've decided to indulge myself. It's a blast to shoot! Of course my family is somewhat hoplophobic so they don't know I have it. I've had to fire it when there tno around or at a shooting range. It came with manual, cleaning kit, shoulder sling, and two 5 and 30 round magazines. Not a bad package for a couple hundred bucks.
I'll check in later!

** Niamhgold wanders in again **
Well, hopefully will get this part time job I've been vying for--in addition to my current graphic design internship (free lance and stuff), I hope to be working at the local campground for boys. I'll be the "arts and crafts" person, which, actually, will be a healthy change in pace from all those high school retail/restaurant jobs. I just hope I don't get any teenage boys. No offense, guys, but I think that teenage boys would be quite a (ahem) handful ;)
In other news, finally got my grade report. I cannot _believe_ that Tim App, my abhorred painting teacher, gave me an A. I snuck out of that class early _everyday_ and took two hour lunch breaks (and in a studio class, I find it hard to believe that he _never_ noticed I was missing). Not to mention, the guy isn't supposed to give A's, and I'm not exactly the best painter, especially with oils. Oh, well, it bumps my GPA to a healthy 3.94, and I can live with that! :) ** Whoops and jumps up and down ** All A's gives my parents the incentive to get me something darn good for my upcoming birthday!
Mecord: Great to hear from ya again! Boy, it sounds like the wedding is going to be a blast (cute site, by the way ;). I'm sorry, however, about Cat spending time with her dad in Colorado...I have several friends whom I wish would stay a healthy distance from their mentally stable 'rents... :( I'm glad you're writing that book, too!
Koontz vs. King: Well, for me, it's the lesser of two evils. I'm an Amy Tan/Michael Chrichton/Fiona Avery ("No Honor" kicks butt!!) person myself. But, if I had to choose, based on his newer novels, it would have to be King. We went trick or treating at his house once, and you got to respect the effort he put into the initial scare ;) But that was back in my impressionable youth... **sigh** ;P
Gside: <ayuh> ** Shivers ** I'm so glad me and my family were _not_ born and raised in this state! Brockton, MA, all the way! My brother *did* slip once, 'cause he's the young and impressionable one now, but I swiftly noogied it out of him ;)
Josh Wurzel: <feedback> The site's pretty cool...love the dry wit! That's something I wish I could effectively utilize. Cars, women, what's the difference, right? And, damn, that _is_ skinny for anyone! ;) The link to my page didn't work the second time? Did for me and my brother's computer...hopefully this time it will asquiesce (if not, URL is www.geocities.com/fluff_astrid -- at least until I get my but in gear and buy a professional name for my domain ;))
Dreamie: Gawsh, checked out your site! And, hon, you should at least take some sort of art course in college! (Medical illustration, actually, is something I think you might like! It's not as cut-and-dry as most people believe). My favorite? Hudson. I love well-done canon characters. You're very, very good at coloring (is it digital or marker medium?). My jaw hit the floor, and that ain't a lie! :D
Winterwolf: Hey, buddy, cool to see ya in here, too! Sent you an e-mail, did you receive? I'm hoping that you're bound for a great, prosperous summer!
Gotta, in a big hurry, figure out something to get for my parent's 25th anniversary this July...only problem is, it's a marker of a year but I've got very, VERY limited cash flow. ** Sighs again **
Well, it's off to some coloring! Stop by my amateur site!
Adios :)

and whats this with me entering the CR and the first post i see always being by DPH huh? wierdness..
azrael>> bad modem eh? well in the diagnostics thingie it says "this device is working proporly" but it just.. you know.. wont work!
um.. i havent the foggiest where i might find the sound card but there has been a network card in that slot before - you know.. for all of the time i was on the net for the past year.. i mean.. it DOES work.. just.. this card wont talk to windows..
and how bout when you plug in your printer cos you need to.. you know.. print up an ASSIGNMENT and of course the computer THEN makes all the happy "hey look, ive found new hardware!!! excuse me while i locate the software for it" which the computer proceeds to do.. and then its all hunkey dorey.. till you want to actually PRINT something.. and then it says "nope, sorry, i couldnt find the driver.." and you want to SCREAM cos your assignment is.. you know.. DUE and all..
gah..
methinks i r havin driver issues..
oh, and shall i continue with my bad day yesterday, eh? okay then.. well after i was at the library posting, right, i go home on my bike.. that is until the back tire bursts. i picked some glass out of it thismorning so i guess that explains it. luckily i didnt go careening into the oncoming traffic and i escaped mostly unharmed - except that i then had to walk home for half an hour in shoes that arent broken in yet. so two quarter-sized blisters on my heels later, i decided that THAT wasnt much fun. and then when i got home, i tried to call my father to tell him to send me $$$$$ to fix the bike but was he reachable? noooo... later, i called his girlfriends house and HE answered the phone.. now THAT was a shocker.. guess hes set up house there.. well all i can say is that i hope rion eats her cats.. ; ) (rion is such a GOOD dog.. and cats? dont get me started.. ; ))
and since i have no food, i was gonna go to the food bank.. but unfortunately, seeing as how my bike was broken, and i cant afford the bus fare, i couldnt go. so i ate my roommates frozen green beans.. yummy yum..
oh and then i had to go to class.. where i found out i had to buy ANOTHER 100$ or so worth of art supplies, including safety glasses, heavy duty gloves and photography paper, as well as piles of matte-board, rubber (NOT contact) cement and some magazines and other expensive paper.
and we went to the darkroom and i got some developer on me which made me itch. at least it wasnt in my eye..
so after class, of COURSE, it WOULD have to be raining, wouldnt it? yes yes, so i walked home in my unbroken in shoes in the rain and there were seven messages on my answering machine.. of people hanging up. gah..
and then mr. dude called me (you all remember mr dude, right?) and i talked to him until HUZZAH!!!! gunjack valentine called me and all was well.
so im alive and it could be worse ; )
my bike is fixed so i can get FOOD and EAT and do other useful things like that. and warpmind called me thismorning too, and that was great : D
so dispite it all, you dont REALLY have to call me a waaaaaambulance ; )
warpmind>> know thine enemy.. heh hehehehehhe... i like that.. ; )
josh>> ah if only i knew HOW i was doing these things, then i could teach you.. though things that waltz through my brain have an odd habit of happening.. like friends brothers in car accidents that i WROTE DOWN and described the van that was gonna hit him two weeks before it happened.. and i dont really miss naked people. cos people (other than art models) who are in the room naked with you tend to want.. other stuff that innocent art things.. and the laptop? new? *explodes in a fit of laughter* shes not NEW!!! shes.. like.. at least five or six years old.. and has the annoying feature of the removable CD and floppy drive.. instead of being nice and convenient and just having BOTH.. gah..
ah. well that appears to be all for my daily dose of whining and some replies.. on to the comedy..
this is for you, gunjack, wherever you are.. and for you, SJ.. who always enjoys laughing at canadas expence.. well we like to have a little laugh at ourselves sometimes, you know.. ; )
"canada - were kinda like the hole in the donut, eh? defined more by what were not than my what we are. 'course what we are here lately is afraid, eh? oh yes, deeply afraid.. cos the king of canada, jean cretien, hes put his mighty mind to keepin the country from seperatin. well given mr cretiens record, that pretty much guarantees shes gonna be torn apart in strips! oh!
2 solitudes eh? its more like 10 solitudes and three very very lonely territories. all of canadas a separation, eh? BC cut off from the praries by the rockies and the praries severed from the canadas by the big hinterland of northern ontario and.. and quebec severed from the maritimes by the great upthrust of the state of maine and the maritimes calling out in their afflicted lonliness to a newfoundland cut off by a grey and desolate sea.. OH!! break your heart, eh? and then on top of all those separations, eh, there squats the great frozen mysterious north and if thats not terrifying enough, then down below we got THEM, eh? a crowd of out-of-control american greed-heads, gobbling up resources faster than you can say "these are the voyages of the starship pre-enterprise, its mission: to exploit strange new globo-markets everywhere.."
so you can see eh? where were kinda trapped and isolated up here in the freezer like.. like a captain highliner fish dinner!! oh, no! THAT aint a fish-stick, billy, thats a CAPTIVE MARKET!!!! 25 million canadians who havent bought american handguns.. YET.. millions of people who havent got private health insurance.. SO FAR.. and then, oh yeah, pierre pettigrew and the rest of them free-marketeering lunatics over in seattle, eh? at the world trade organization, puttin it ALL on the table! out they go while they last! health care! education! are you feelin a kind of separation anxiety NOW pierre? oh yes..
its a global market FREE FOR ALL - backed up by global thugs.. i dont think your riot gears gonna help you HERE boys! aww... awwwwww... isnt that sad? just a little bit of pepper will make the whole thing go down much nicer..."
- connie bloor and her paper shredder, this hour has 22 minutes
canada is like a frozen fish dinner.. i like this woman..
; )
okay.. i must depart thy wonderful company for yet another day..
fare the well!

*A lurking shadow rises from the corner and casts a spell of illumination. The elven form revealed smiles like a man retuning home after a long journey.”
And such a long and odd journey it has been. Hello everyone. Life has been anything but dull and I felt it was high time to return to the CR. Friends, I have been busy while I was away. The summery goes something along the lines of walking through the seventh level of Hell (finals), diving into my writing (a book I’ve wanted to write for ten years), trying to keep my somewhat unstable friends sane, dealing with a full time job, and of course making arrangements for my wedding on June 16. Which reminds me, my future father in-law has taken upon himself to construct a webpage for our wedding. Here is the URL or click my name, http://www.allmormon.com/wedding there are even pictures of our youths with running commentary (also written by her dad so I lay no claim as to the truthfulness or accuracy of anything on that page).
The only bad part about the last little while is Cat is in Castle Rock Colorado with her parents. Being away from Cat wouldn’t be so bad if she weren’t with her parents. I won’t go into detail, but I will say he’s not the greatest bloke around and not conducive to a good mental health. Oh, did I mention he’s a control freak and a recovering abusive alcoholic? But I wasn’t going to go into details was I? D@mn I’m lonely.
Anyway, here’s some replies or comments or whatever.
Warpmind>> <Hmmm... Lynati... LA... me... single room at the hotel... the day BEFORE the Gathering... Oh, JOY!!! };) Hehehe... I'm feeling amped, all of a sudden. };) > I know how you feel.
Memorial Day>> A holiday devoted to remembering the sacrifices made by our predecessors. Also a popular day for barbecues, vacations, family reunions, and shopping. So the American populace likes to take advantage of noble ideas for personal gain and a little fun. That’s just exercising the freedom our predecessors fought for right? Speaking of freedom for personal gain, the people I work for were sure exercising that right. Or rather, they relaxed and took the day off while those of us running their store did the exercising. Oh that’s right, it’s Memorial Day Weekend, that means the stores close early so we can spend the evening with our families right? No, I have to work until 9 PM as usual while every other shop in town closes at 5. And my family? That’s right they took off for the weekend and I haven’t seen any of them for days now. I hate being lonely.
SJ>> <mainstream American audience "won't get it". > Afraid I have to agree with you there. Mainstream America typically doesn’t want to exercise their noggin for entertainment purposes. All too often genius falls by the way of stupid humor, intense action, and lots of sex. That’s a large generalization I know, but the point is that downgrading the intellectual level of entertainment may make a lot of money for Adam Sandler but the truly great shows like Gargoyles will die a painful death when downgraded to a Saturday morning cartoon.
<We will get a sh!tty film, because two suits don't want to share the ballfield.> It seems sadly ironic somehow that an X-Men film should fall in such a way. But as for Sentinals being human sized, I don’t know it could still work. I don’t know if many in here are familiar with Operation Zero Tolerance. I rather enjoyed that particular story line. But the Legacy Virus… I don’t know about that. I hate it when they throw too many bad guys into one film. That’s how the Batman movies died. Besides the origional origin of the legacy virus is a long and involved story, any revisions to this story are likely to suck royally. They would have to change the story entirely or just have the origin a mystery, both are likely to suck as well.
Azrael>> <you should have to score at least 80 on an IQ test before you purchase a computer...> Typically they have people who do score 80 or higher purchase the computer for them. :) Okay snide remarks aside, it is pretty sad when the first lesson of the introductory class into Computer Science is “How To Turn On The Computer.” If it weren’t a required class I think I would have left on the first day from the insult.
Self insertion>> Actually, all my stories start out with me in them. I take myself out eventually, but I find I can get a better feel of what is happening by placing myself in the middle of the story.
Josh>> <We make fun of Canada despite Lain's nationalism. You can't stop us. Go ahead, bash California. I won't stop you.> hehehe, bash Utah, I’ll encourage you. :D
Well that’s all for now. I’d do an RP but I have no idea what’s going on or if my characters have been up to anything while I was away.
Later.

Believe it or not, a visit to foxkids.com overloaded my PC. Once I got inside, the site got opening more and more web browser windows. Eventually, I had to forcibily reboot my PC in order to solve the problem.
In other news, I still have my jar of sanity. Attempts to return it to the CR admins will be impossible.
I hope to find out what the heck is going on where I am working today because there should be a Communications Meeting today. that's all, for now.

I once went on a binge several years ago and read about 10 Dean Koontz books in a row. Midway through I realized that as engaging as his work can be, the man writes romance novels and couches them in horror or suspense plots. Not a bad thing, just a jarring realization.
King on the other hand I got really annoyed at in the middle of which ever book I was reading at the time, when I realized that he'd gotten such carte blanche at his publishers that he could write fifteen pages of the alphabet in repetition and no one would say "boo". Seriously, it was obvious that he'd hit a point in his career where no editor was sending him notes saying "this is interesting and all, Steve, but it doensn't have jack to do with your story."
I haven't picked up one of his books since. Maybe I will someday, I hear his book on writing is pretty well regarded.

*Warpmind enters, whistling semi-merrily.*
Top o'the hour, gang.
Lain: So you know where to find stuff in the Bible. You could just file that under the "Know Thy Enemy" section, you know. };)
SJ: I won't argue the possibility that King is better than Koontz - Lord knows I haven't read enough King to have a justifiable opinion on the subject - but I reckon they're pretty hard to compare, all in all. After all, King's books seem to be mainly based on the supernatural, while Koontz' works are more scientifically inclined. (And, speaking as somewhat of a technophile, that's a MAJOR point to Koontz.) Now, you say that Koontz can't finish a book... how many books has Stephen King written that have a definite conclusion as opposed to an open ending? Just curious... since most of Koontz' books seem to have a point where whatever sinister force is rampant is actually finished off for GOOD. (Or bad, depending on perspective...) That's something you ought to consider, as well, hmmm? };)
Josh: Minor. Just a few bytes, that DLL file... ;) And, no, not for Macs. I don't even have ACCESS to a Mac, and why the HECK should I develop a Mac version at the SAME TIME as I'm working on a version for REAL computers? (Note: this comment is made with the intent of annoying Mac owners. I utterly despise what they did to computers, what with introducing that Volswagen wannabe...) And just relax - I don't look down on self-insertion (save examples such as the Brooklyn and Matt saga, of course), I just don't do it myself - I'm too biased about my person. };)
*Suddenly smiles unethically.* Hmmm... Lynati... LA... me... single room at the hotel... the day BEFORE the Gathering... Oh, JOY!!! };) Hehehe... I'm feeling amped, all of a sudden. };)
Well, I gotta scoot. Later.

Hey gag, (oo, bad Scooby flasbacks) anyhow, I know it seems like I've been away when actually I've lurked every day with the inability to post thaks once again to my evil Compuserve network. I got around it last time by using Explorer, but apparently they found be and locked it out now too. @#$%! But they do not know how persistent I am I will not be silenced so easily!
Work is going well, I just got a raise which is totally cool because lord knows I needed it. And school is about to fire up here once again (Oh, goody)
Lynati- I for got to tell you that if you are ariving early at the hotel you're going to have to wait for Warp to show up because that room the night before is in his name.
Amazing, all this time and still nothing to say, oh well, I'll just head back working on more art and stories.

Today I discovered the single most frustrating thing in the world: having computer problems when you work tech support.
"Call tech support" says my Dad.
"okay" ::goes to phone and dials:: "gee, that's funny, a busy signal. guess that's cuz I'm CALLING MYSELF!"
Well, managed to get the damn thing working again...I can't wait to buy a new one.
Last night I discovered that the tech people at my mom's last job were MORONS. They gave her all her files on two disks. One was a floppy, the other was a zip250. No mac sold in the last three years comes with a floppy, and only ONE sold in the last three years has a zip250. Why the hell haven't CD's become the standard medium of transferring files? They're cheaper than floppies, more reliable, have 500 times the space, and EVERYONE can read them. Anyway, i have to spend part of my day tomorrow figuring out how to get her info from mac files onto my dad's PC. Should be interesting, I don't think there's any way for PC AOL (or any form of AOL) to read mac netscape address books...so I'll probably have to copy them all by hand (or by finger, as it were).
I hope my mom doesn't spend too much time jobless, its putting a serious strain on the mental stability of this family (and we're already over the edge a bit).
Last night I demonstrated the stylingness of macs when I recorded and burned my mom singing a song all with built-in software and components...eat that windows.
Warpmind: <<a missing DLL file>>: I wouldn't call that minor. <<there's a playable game demo available>>: Available for mac? <<large quantities of tranquilizers should be acquired>>: Don't worry, I got it covered. <<I don't even do SELF-insertion>>: Uh oh, if you look down on self insertion...you better not read my fic 8-).
Greg X: <<I was sure it would suck than>>: LOL!
Lain: <<set trucks on fire>>: Teach me? <<kill people>>: with that, I could rule the world...then I could throw your dad in prison for abuse of a country's leader (which country did you want to lead again?). <<im gonna miss my naked guy>>: We all miss our naked people. <<we dont get to draw naked people in class anymore>>: I'm sure you'll draw naked people elsewhere. <<that IS the new modem>>: My roommate just sent back his entire brand new LAPTOP because it was defective. <<the rest of the comment room's sanity>>: we left our sanity with the admins when we entered the CR...oh wait, YOURE the admin! <<what the heck is up with THAT>>: Few things piss Christians off more than atheists that actually KNOW the bible.
DPH: <<How many times must I remind people>>: It doesn't matter. We make fun of Canada despite Lain's nationalism. You can't stop us. Go ahead, bash California. I won't stop you.
Christine: <<memory's mirror>>: cool story.
Azrael: <<Fry's>>: Just so you know, there is no such thing as "new" at Fry's. Fry's is known to repackage refurbished and returned stuff as new stuff and sell it again until they find someone who's too timid to bring it back. I wouldn't trust Fry's with anything more complicated than a crossover cable. Fry's, in my mind, is only good for browsing, then go online and buy what you want. Prices there are usually lower than Fry's anyway.
Gside: <<those come standard on most people>>: True, though apparently the dexterity required does not come standard on most people. <<Though I think I to pretty well>>: Survey says...[X]! <<in the URL field>>: I know that! But when I clicked on the link and fixed it so it read "http://website" it didn't work. <<Gotta love the bathtub curve>>: No, you really don't. I don't.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Niamhgold> <<What have you been up to>>: Not much, trying to relax as much as possible.
<<what fantastic plans do you have for the summer season?>>: See above, but since my job search fell through, I've essentially become the neighborhood handyman (plus the parades). And I actually kind of like trimming hedges.
<<The jokes abound!>>: So true. No one actually ilves there. Everyone yoy get introduced to is a fourth cousin or something. And the favorite: ayuh.
<<I opened up my half-finished new story and actually began to _write_ again>>: Woot redux.
<<Thanks for responding to me so quickly!>>: Quickly? I was just working on my daily post (usually started around midnight or later), and you just happened to have posted recently.
Imzadi> <<Try ventriloquism>>: Okay, it would only be a moderately good trick if I could.
<<Just a hand>>: My point. And those come standard on most people.
<<Too lazy to proofread, apparently>>: Absolutely. Though I think I to pretty well.
<<I wonder what that is latin>>: Rough guess: Non scribo, atqui sum hic.
<<I added it and it still doesn't work>>: Not you, in the URL field of Add Comment when first posting a link.
<<HAH! My graduating class had 73 kids>>: My ninth grade class only had 16. The year before was only 7.
Azrael> <<Just because it's new doesn't mean it will work>>: Gotta love the bathtub curve.
Molly> <<It the third session for the Gargoyles stories on this site new?>>: Mostly. It is the latest season.

Hi, I have a really stupid question, but I might as well ask it? It the third session for the Gargoyles stories on this site new? I read all of session one and most of session two, but then got caught up in the whole end of high school, college rush thing, and haven't looked at them in some time. If it is great, if not, that's fine too. I was just curious.

Lain- On behalf of all Tech Support people everywhere- It CAN be the Modem. Just because it's new doesn't mean it will work. Example- There is a store in town (Fry's for anyone who cares) that is notorious for selling bad RAM. I personally have had good luck (128MB Corsair for 80 bucks) but many people I know get bad RAM. They take it back and eventually get good RAM, but it takes a couple of tries. Just 'cause it's new doesn't mean it works. One thing I'm not sure I got across to you, though, is that it may help to move the card to a different slot, usually the lowest you can put it in is the best. Also, make sure it's really in there nice and tight, I don't know how many times I though I had a PCI card in correctly and it wouldn't work, only to find out I hadn't quite got it seated correctly.
Now, It being new does make another possibility- Move another card (preferably your sound card, if possible) to the slot you had the modem in. Make sure it's seen there. If not, you've got a bad slot on the motherboard. This doesn't happen all that often, so I didn't mention it before, but it does happen on occasion.
Again, good luck...

King vs. Koontz: A battle for the ages.
While I think both writers have their strong points, as well as their weaknesses, I think one enormously glaring weakness on Koontz's part is that he just can't end a damn book. Many times, his climaxes…well, they just suck, and there's no payoff in the end (there's a dirty joke in there somewhere…). I do not think King has this problem, at least not as much as Koontz does.
I'll give a couple examples. I was reading "The House of Thunder", and I was digging it. **Spoilers** It was pretty cool, sort of a bizarre ghost story, where the female protagonist is seeing all of the dead men who killed her boyfriend that time long ago. But oops! They're not ghosts! She's really just an American trapped in a secret Russian facility, being driven insane so the Commies can obtain all the wonderful national secrets she has stored in her brain. PLEASE. That ending sucked even during the Cold War. It was a total 180 turn from what the entire book (prior to that revelation) was about. Or how about "Dragon's Tears"? TickTock made an interesting villain…..until we find out that he's not some sort of supernatural being or the big bad boogeyman, he's a teenage kid who's mommy was tripping the light fantastic a little too much when he was in utero, so now he's got superpowers! Jesus F***ing Christ. Koontz gets points, though, for making a dog a humorous and interesting subcharacter, though. Koontz isn't all bad, though. Some of his books are quite enjoyable. "Intensity" was always one of my favorites.
Basically, I've read both authors, and while I (in general) like both writers, I think King is just a better author than Koontz. Koontz has difficulty ending books. Also, I think King's work is a little more deep and emotional. If you take some of King's "lesser" works, the ones that weren't necessarily that well received, and you still have some powerful stories. Look at "Rose Madder" for instance, and its portrayal of spousal abuse, or "Gerald's Game" and the depiction of the horrors of child molestation. Koontz doesn't offer that. I think Koontz is talented, but King is better. Bottom line.

King vs. Koontz > as these are the only two authors I routinely buy in hardback the first day available, I think they're both great. For different reasons, as each has his different strength. My list of top ten favorite books of all time would include multiple titles by both of them, though I still think Raptor Red and Bimbos of the Death Sun would be near the top ; )
Site update > did a bit of a one yesterday, updating my Links page (correcting and updating a couple) and adding another pic by Demona May. Will soon be adding my Reunion II contest entries now that the judging is being announced -- my crossover took first place! Yay! I was really pleased with that one. So I'll be able to add it to my site and the archive soon. Still waiting for word on the judging of the naughty fics ... had some interesting fun with that one.

aaron>> re: summary of war of 1812.. i like it.. ; ) but hey.. when gunjack was up here, he actually kinda LIKED the weather so.. hmm...
yeah and my father has been calling me twice daily since we had that fight. except the annoying part is that he does it really early in the morning so i dont have enough of a presence of mint... (i rest my case) *ahem* presence of MIND to tell him off. oh well. as gunjack said, if im half as powerful as he seems to think i am (what with my fantastic ability to set trucks on fire and cause traffic jams with the power of my mind, and now my alleged ability to kill people) id be watchin out, not tryin to tick me off, eh?
half of me is tempted to make a threat about heart attacks but the other half is afraid of how guilty id feel if it.. coincidentally of course.. happened.. : (

oh and um.. aZrael (sorry about that.. call it.. the.. uh.. great big something that messes stuff up in my head.. : )) ill try to remember the "zed" in the future ; )

SJ> Well, just because the Sentinals won't be robots does not mean the movie will suck. In fact when I first heard that they were planning to use the Sentinals in the sequal a few months back, I was sure it would suck than. As cool as they are in the comics, I doubt they'd work in a movie without looking incredibly cheesy. I just don't think the idea of giant robots would work at all in this medium.

*Warpmind enters, slightly flushed.*
Heya. To those who have downloaded the game demo I uploaded, I'm sorry. I just became aware of a small detail: a missing DLL file. (That error has been corrected now; as I'm typing, I am uploading a newer version of the demo, replacing the first one.) So, for those interested, there's a playable game demo available, with introduction sequence, combat sequences and, unfortunately, somewhat sluggish processing due to some rather inconveniently large (but necessary) chunks of coding... that I will try to shrink somewhat.
Dreamie: Heh, you know, if you're gonna be as giddy at G'01 as you seem to be now, I suspect large quantities of tranquilizers should be acquired... };)
SJ: So, which is which? (I'm sure you've stated this before, but I forget... and I've read far too few King books to say that one is better than the other...)
Josh: Sorry, but still no. I don't even do SELF-insertion... };)
Well, that about sums it up...
And to all you who downloaded the first demo I provided, once more, I am sorry, and the present version should work without any problems.

A couple of pieces of "Buffy" news that might or might not interest you.
1. Next season, after the show moves to UPN, Giles will become a recurring figure rather than a regular. This is because Anthony Stewart Head has asked to have a smaller role in the series so that he can spend more time with his family in England. Not to worry, though, Giles-fans; he's getting his own spin-off series (though it'll be mainly for UK television - but it may show up in the States eventually).
2. Joss Whedon has mentioned plans for a "musical episode" of "Buffy" in Season Six. (Something which may reconcile me to the show's move to a station that my home town doesn't receive :).

Guess who showed up at Rocky Horror last night? Kirsten Dunst! Always odd when we get celebrities there, and one of our more obnoxious regulars made it a point to include lots of "Interview with a Vampire"-related lines.
Another interesting thing happened at Rocky last night. Some of you might know that I was a counselor at a sleepaway camp last summer, and during that time I apparently had a profound effect on many childrens' lives, which is pretty cool. Anyway, one of my campers, a little 12 (13?) year old girl, was AT ROCKY LAST NIGHT! I cower in shame, as I have ceased to be a positive role model for that particular camper.
Saw Shrek today...IT ROCKED. I was kinda bummed that there weren't any outtakes though. I love it when they do that. Kelsey Grammer was hysterical, as was Mike Meyers. The donkey was just annoying.
Movies I still need to see this summer: Evolution, Pearl Harbor, Atlantis, Final Fantasy. I'm sure there are others, but the escape my memory at this time.
Tomorrow I'm going to a Memorial day gathering with some family friends, should be fun. I also have to go Smart and Final shopping and get lots of soda. This bizzare family only stocks Coke when I'm home. Drives me nuts (short trip).
A few minutes ago, my mother hands me two disks and tells me that all her data from her last job was put on the disks by the tech people. The disks are a floppy and a zip250. My conclusion is that these are the stupidest tech people in the world. No mac in the last 3 years has sold with a floppy drive, and only one mac sold in the last three years comes with an OPTIONAL zip250. Why they hell didn't they burn it to a cd?! So anyway, my mom has mac files on two disks and we're gonna have to go through a lot of effort just to get this info off these disks and transferred to a PC, which my mom is just now learning to use (she was whining about how much she misses her Titanium Powerbook). Why are company IT people such idiots!?
Right now I'm in the process of downloading 100MB of Toast glory over a modem so I can burn a CD. Seems my beautiful free beta version...expired. bastards.
The weather in LA sucks right now. Its cloudy and gray, and the sun didn't come out all day long. Its like Berkeley. I left Berkeley to get AWAY from that crappy weather, not deal with more of it! If its like this when I move back down permanently...I'm killing myself.
And in all this, a piece of very good news. My programming final, the one I walked out of two hours early (berkeley finals are only three hours long), the one I didn't care how I did because I was doing so well in the class...I got a 92%. That gave me a 96% for the semester (an A, duh). If I stop posting after I get back to school, you'll know its because 300 very jealous engineering students killed me.
Warpmind: <<not gonna let Brooklyn get away easy>>: He's not getting away easy. He's getting away with a serious case of blue-balls.
Christine: <<I looked at your site>>: Any ideas? <<some very interesting links>>: I read a lot of interesting sites. <<you are younger than my gaming career>>: There are posters in here younger than me! <<feel a little awkward about seconding>>: Does that mean you are seconding or not? <<believe me!>>: Okay. But only since you added the exclamation point.
Kathy: <<Pillow fight>>: Someone needs to write a clan-wide pillow fight scene. Goliath with a couple pillows would be pretty deadly.
Gside: <<would be a great trick if I could speak for someone else>>: Try ventriloquism. <<you don't need many accessories>>: Just a hand. <<long haired and bearded engineering student.>>: No cuz then he wouldn't be me! <<People a are inherently lazy>>: Too lazy to proofread, apparently. <<I don't write, yet I'm here>>: I wonder what that is latin...I'd go translate but as you said, I'm inherently lazy. <<remember to put in the http://>>: I added it and it still doesn't work. <<the baby boomers are going to kill Social Security>>: Which has nothing to do with saving for retirement, if you do it correctly. SS is taken out of paychecks directly. Put your money in an IRA or other savings account so that you can having it AFTER all those old farts rape our country. <<
Naimgold: <<better take some nice pictures for me>>: Fear not, I'm taking a digital camera so everything will be well documented. <<Checked your website>>: Ideas? <<try mine>>: Link doesn't work. <<my graduating class consisted of a meager 160 kids>>: HAH! My graduating class had 73 kids! <<now the link should work correctly>>: Guess again. <<
DPH: <<what kind of car would best suit my personality?>>: New? Used? SUV? Sports car? Minivan? Station wagon? Sedan? Color? Give us more details and we'll tell you 8-) <<Neither money nor intelligence gets you happiness>>: Not by themselves, no. But together they can help you get the things you need to achieve happiness. For example: having a new laptop would make me extremely happy. Requirements: $$$. <<is it wise to put off saving for retirement>>: Absolutely. You're young, and the little bit of money that you put away now, while it might feed you for a month, will feed you for a year if you just let it accrue interest until you retire. I started my retirement IRA last winter, and I'm amazed at how fast it grows. I've already decided that I'm willing to live with lower standard of living if it means putting more money into my retirement account and being able to retire sooner.
SJ: <<watching reruns of all of John Wayne's old war movies on AMC>>: I'll defect to Canada before you catch me doing that. <<eating grilled food>>: Symbolic of the way our soldiers were charred in battle. <<sitting on our asses>>: Symbolic of the brass in the pentagon. <<an Asian vacation I took a couple years ago>>: LOL! <<"Lateralus", will debut at number one>>: I'm having trouble justifying buying it, since I haven't heard it yet. I do, however, want the new Stabbing Westward album. <<that dry spell was "Mer de Noms">>: I really like Perfect Circle. I think its different from Tool and a more musical, less talking. <<Let's start with Fred Durst>>: As much as I think he's a dick, my list of "musicians" to kill has many more people before him, like any member of a boy band. <<I think they're a bunch of assholes>>: LOL again. <<I actually don't have a thing against Canada>>: I know. I was just using you as an example. <<I just respect the Israelis I suppose>>: Quite frankly I don't think its possible not to respect them. They are badass in every sense of the word (except the sense that translates to "physically attractive" or "hairless"). <<join the rest of us here in civilization>>: I'll give you 5 to 2 odds against THAT ever happening. <<future ex-Mrs. SJ>>: Funny, I also use the phrase "future ex". <<I'm the only one in here who can make people do that>>: Pistoff has a claim to that as well. Plus, I already made someone leave. <<Guess which is which?>>: Having never read either, my odds aren't good. <<XMEN 2>>: BUMMER! <<FF>>: I love seeing movies that are a cut above the average IQ of this country. Mission Impossible was a good example. Most people I know did not get that movie. I followed it easily and really enjoyed it, and now they all think I'm a genius (which isn't far from the truth). But the fact that Adam Sandler is so popular makes me want to move to Norway. On the other hand, I also like movies that have stuff blowing up every minute. <<jar of mayo>>: I think that's being insulting to the mayo.
Azrael: <<some people have convinced me that you should have to score at least 80 on an IQ test before you purchase a computer>>: Ah the joys of working tech support. <<some people can't>>: Let the feeble drown in the sea of tech-talent carried by us IT gods!
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Lain- Let me add my agreement that your Dad is acting like an idiot. I'm not so quick to tell him to "stick it" but he's definately got some issues here.
Also, I hope the modem thing works for you.
One last thing, you've used an 's' instead of a 'z' the last two times you've used my name. Is this just a typo? Or are you trying to tell me something. This isn't a serious thing, I'm just kinda curious. **Smiles Encouragingly**
Josh- While I personally can fix my computer w/out the monitor attatched (sometimes, depends on the software I'm working with) I know (because I work techsupport) that some people cant. In fact, some people have convinced me that you should have to score at least 80 on an IQ test before you purchase a computer...
*******Isreal/Palistine- Jews/Arabs- Bible Stuff********
First, the current "Israelis" have Israel because the US, along with most of the other nations in the UN and NATO gave it to them. They are no longer the Nation of Israel to which God gave the Area.
Second, the Idea that the Jews didn't kill Christ is wrong, according to every scripture I've read, Pilot (the Roman Govenor of Judea) wanted to let Jesus go, the Pharises, Saduces, Teachers of the Law, ect. (all Jews, consequently) riled up all the Jews to yell "Crucify, Crucify!"
Lain- God punishing the Jews for something "he made them do" is right in keeping with his "lesson teaching" ideas. These used to give me problems, but I've since figured it out. Mostly it goes like this: God hardened Pharoh's heart against the Jews, and still punished him. He let Satan have his way with Job, and still asked Job what right he had to question. Yes, the Jews did what was necessary, but it was still WRONG. I'm thankful that they were wrong, and you'll also have to realize that more than 3000 of those SAME JEWS converted to Christianity 53 days later on Pentecost.
The Jews are no longer God's Chosen Nation, because we're all sanctified in His eyes. They don't "deserve" Jerusalem, but it was given to them, we have a treaty to help protect them, and should therefore continue to do so.

Gside: Couldn't resist--now the link should work correctly. What have you been up to, and what fantastic plans do you have for the summer season? <Females are supposed to elongate first > Unfortunate, but true. Of course, I'm just some sort of slow-to-immature abnormality; I never lost all of my baby teeth (they had to pull out ten of them just so I could get braces in the tenth grade), plus I didn't hit my current height until about a year and a half ago. Niamhgold> Woot.
<<The reason I haven't written in so long is simply because, it seems, the need for catharsis in that area has fled from me>>: Good for you, I guess. Bad for me.
<<that's because I didn't get above 4 ft. 7 until ninth grade>>: Freaky. Females are supposed to elongate first.

What? Nothing to say to me? I feel left out.
Oh, and remember to put in the http:// if you want the CR to parse your link correctly.
DPH> <<is it wise to put off saving for retirement so that I can surive the here-and-now more easily?>>: Nope, the baby boomers are going to kill Social Security, so we're going to need a bunch more money for when we go out.

Well, Memorial Day Weekend is upon us. It's a 3 day holiday in which we are meant to take a moment and reflect upon all of the individuals who have died in the service of this country. And yet we just spend the weekend sitting on our asses, eating grilled food, and watching reruns of all of John Wayne's old war movies on AMC.
This wasn't like back when I was over in the jungle. Back…..in Nam. I remember it like it was yesterday……It was hell……I think of Memorial day, and it reminds me of my time there……all the village girls I had my way with…..all the babies I killed…….how much heroin I did…….Charly! Charly is in the bushes!……
What you say? I'm too young to have been in the Vietnam War? Damn right. I wasn't in the War. I'm talking about an Asian vacation I took a couple years ago. Great rates! I toured the whole continent for only a couple grand. And I'm down to just two pills a day now.
Behold, the power of Maynard James Keenan!!!
This week, after only been on the market for 1 ˝ weeks, the new album by Tool, "Lateralus", will debut at number one, with about 750,000 units sold. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, they should go platinum. And rightfully so. It has been a loooong five years since the last Tool album (Salival doesn't count!), and all we Tool fans have had to go on for that dry spell was "Mer de Noms" by aperfectcircle, Maynard's other band (but I'm not complaining, because "Mer" was, arguably, the best CD put out last year). But we have our new Tool, and it has conquered! May this start the death knell for all bad music everywhere. Let's start with Fred Durst, and move on from there.
Lain: I gotta agree with Jannie. When it gets to the point where your father starts blaming you for your mother's death, it's time to tell him where to stick it. Using all the proper anatomical terminology.
About the Israeli / Paletstinian stuff…..my point is just that, the land is a moot point. They hate each other. That's never going to stop (unless anyone wants to debate eschatology, which would really be a headache). They'll look for excuses to off each other. It just so happens there's a convenient one right there in front of them. Or under them, to be more accurate, for they are standing on it.
As for the Bible stuff…..look, you're sort of misconstruing what I had to say. But let's not go into that, because it is a very delicate matter, and there are many in the CR (like myself) who do believe in the Bible very passionately, and might not like it to be so easily dismissed as just a book written by Jews to make the Jews look good. But for the record, I said I didn't believe all that crap about God punishing the Jews for "killing Christ" (which technically they didn't do. The criticize that is thrown their way, which I don't agree with, was that they just let the crucifixion happen, thus killing Jesus by proxy.), that is just one belief held by certain Christians. Remember, Christianity is huge; not even counting Catholicism, you have numerous Protestant sects, each with their own take upon the Scripture. Different beliefs and theories will arise, and I don't claim to share many of them. I was just mentioning one particular school of thought, one that I don't really agree with. As for the "Arabs never being born" comment, that was meant more as a counter to a potential argument by you (to further your argument that the Jews were in the wrong about the land dispute) that the Jews initially "screwed over" the Arabs by getting Abraham's birthright while the Arabs were cast out (ironically, this could be turned around and around in a debate of who should get the land in the Middle East-the Jews, for they have Abraham's birthright and blessing, or the Arabs, who were the "firstborn".). If you had used that argument, I would have said that yes, in a very narrow sense, the Arab nation could be considered an aberration. If Abraham HAD waited, as God wanted him to, there would have been no Ishmael, and thus no Arab nation. It didn't work out that way. One could argue that all of this was God's plan, but in absence of such a notion, the "original" plan, one can assume, was that there would have only been the Jewish nation. Thus, "originally", it can be assumed that the Arabs were not meant to come into existence. But they did. So the whole point is rather moot anyway.
Of course, by making that argument, I'm basically shouting for all the world to see that an entire race (and several nationalities) of people should not exist, due to technicality. That's bound to piss of someone somewhere. But I have nothing against those who could be considered Arab or of Arab descent.
Except the Palestinians. I think I've pretty much confirmed that I think they're a bunch of assholes.
Josh: I actually don't have a thing against Canada. This is a little joke that lain and I share with each other. See, that's part of why I like her so damn much---at many times she's as fiercely nationalistic as I am. I can respect that.
And no, I'm not Jewish. I've have a few Jewish friends, though. As for why I'm so passionate about the Palestine situation, I don't know. I just am. I guess I just respect the Israelis I suppose.
Jannie: I think by far the most humorous and ridiculous thing about that editorial is that the people of Arkansas are goofing on the Texans.
But I think we should all go easy on the Arkansas folks. I understand that just yesterday one of them actually discovered how to start a fire, and from what I'm hearing, they're very close to understanding how to create the wheel. Very soon, they shall leave their caves, abandon their animal pelts, and join the rest of us here in civilization.
Stephen: Well, since you asked about Rush Hour 2, I am happy to report that the film should debut in theaters on August 3rd. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan will return to reprise their roles (as will Chris Penn!?). Don Cheadle will guest star, as will Zhang Ziyi (Jen from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, who will be the future ex-Mrs. SJ if I have my way). The story is set in Hong Kong, with Ziyi playing one of the bad guys (she's a bomb specialist). Beyond that, I'm not sure of the plot. It should be great fun, though.
Oh, and don't leave. I'm the only one in here who can make people do that.
Bob Dylan: You mean Vincent Price? (Anyone who's seen a picture of Bob Dylan recently knows what I'm talking about). I think he and Angela Lansbury…..oops, I mean Paul McCartney….should get together and record some music.
I wouldn't listen to it, though. Bob Dylan's music makes me wish I had no ears.
King vs. Koontz: There's no contest. One knows how to finish his books, the other is a master choke artist when it comes to the climax. Guess which is which? Yes, this is a rather easy question to answer.
***ENTERTAINMENT NEWS***
BIG, SCARY, SUCKY NEWS IF YOU'RE AN X-MEN FAN: Did you like the first X-Men movie? Yeah, me too! Did you think it was cool? Yeah, me too! Excited about the sequel? Oops, there you lose me.
The sequel is rapidly falling apart, folks. Oh, it's not in danger of being cancelled. It's just going to suck. The plot of the film will center around the Legacy virus and the birth of the Sentinels….only the treatments for the film all suck and…..AND……get this-they want the Sentinels to be human beings, instead of the big scary robots that we all want. Why is this happening? Because Tom DeSanto, who wrote the film (although he did much more than that), is not involved in the sequel. Why? Bryan Singer wants him back. Everyone wants him back…..except the Lauren Schuller and Richard Donner, producers of the last film. The reason for the exclusion? DeSanto wants a full producer credit (he only got an executive-producer credit last time). Schuller/Donner want the sole credit for themselves. Yes, folks, it's that idiotic. We will get a sh!tty film, because two suits don't want to share the ballfield. Well, I suppose we should be happy we got one good film out of them.
For those looking forward to the Final Fantasy movie…..be prepared. As I understand it, most people with a high IQ find the film wonderful, but the general feeling is that the mainstream American audience "won't get it". Basically, the main problem is that the film is long on words and short on action. I wish I could argue that the American movie going public is smart enough to appreciate a more thought-provoking science fiction movie, one that doesn't have things blowing up every minute, but I can't. Adam f'ing Sandler is a multi-millionaire, isn't that proof that the average movie-goer has the IQ of a jar of mayonnaise when it comes to entertainment?
So, I'm saying this right now: folks, expect another Mononoke here. A great film, but one that the mainstream doesn't like because they aren't bright enough to understand it.

Just a quick one. It's really getting hot here in Korea, I can't complain though because I said that if I made it through the winter I couldn't say anything about the heat. They are telling us that they won't turn on the AC until July 1 went it gets really hot. I guess they are waiting to turn it on because of the energy crisis in the States !?!
I don't actually believe that's the real reason but if it is OH MY GOD!
