Well, I got SOME of my pics back. I should have two more rolls coming in soon! I am also working on my journal... that may take longer, as all the days seem to run together in a HUGE blur. Let me know if any links don't work.

Josh><<Jpop bigger crap than Backstreet Boys>> Would it actually KILL you to be maybe a LITTLE polite for once in your life? Just because I don't have the same interest as you doesn't mean you have the right to call my interest a bunch of crap. I actually go out of my way to be nice and try and not hurt peoples' feelings when neccassary. I suggest you watch what you say to people because it is going to come back to you about 100 fold. If you don't like something, and someone else does, either KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT or just say you aren't interested in it. Or is that a little too much for that UC Berkely brain of yours to handle?

*Warpmind enters, steaming.*
Okay, I'm officially peeved now. Seems that usa.net have suddenly decided that their free e-mail service will be abandoned in a month, so I'll have to sign up at 30 bucks monthly for the e-mail service. And, ooh, there's a bunch of other stuff included that I AM NOT INTERESTED IN!!! :( Am I truly doomed? Will I have to revert to... *Shudder* Hotmail? Oh, well... I'll see what's to be done... *Angry grumble.*

Lynati: Well, if you prefer, I could wish I was where you are, but... the result would be the same... *Sniffle, stare blankly* Actually, I wouldn't wish the excessive heat here on anybody, so... (I'll get around to an e-mail as soon as I've found a new webmail provider.)

Gside: I've got a long way to go with Celsius/Fahrenheit calculations, but I do know roughly how much a hundred F would amount to. And the Bergeron-Toriyama workout? Is that related to the Arcade Gamers' Fishing For A Quarter Dance?\

SJ: I was balder than you expected me to be? Really??? Um... so, in your book, how bald is bald, anyway? I mean, when I shave my head, no strand of hair will remain uncut! ;)

DPH: A six-letter word for dictator might be T-Y-R-A-N-T. Happy? ;)

Josh: A DISENCHANTER DECK??? Oooooh, you are going to be SOOOOOO dead... *Digs up the rare "Coalition Victory" card* As for whether or not Lynati actually blew me off... *Scratches head* I'm honestly not sure... I'm not givin' up hope just yet, though. (Not until I know whether it was the yellow or red light...)

Well, that about concludes the post. Later.

Imzadi - I would have you know that while I was attending one college, I was known to come in late for class because I lost track of time in a . . . computer lab. The reason I wanted a trackball is to save space on my desk. The only major spending left I plan for my PC this year involves acquring MS Visual Studio and buying an LS120. Of course next year, more RAM is going to be bought

Ok, based on what you guys know about me, what would be a good sig file for me?

I just received bad news from work. Virtually all the temps are being laid off. No overtime (without approval from the #2 person at the plant) for at least 3 months unless things pick up. They are going to post internal openings to allow people to come to 1st shift to make up for the loss of temps (and to cost costs because working on off-shift gets $0.50/hour more). The thermostats were turned up from being at 70 degrees to being at 76 degrees now. They are looking at cost-cutting measures. Thankfully, people on probation will be cut before I lose my job. Yes, I am slightly worried about keeping my job.

Conway is just 1 hour north of Little Rock. Traveling to Fayettiville, if I recall correctly, takes a good 6 hours.

Hi ya'll

I just got back from A.I. There are potential spoilers (for any CR dwellers who have been living in a cave or don't know that Stanley Kubrick, not Steven Speilberg, was the driving force behind the movie)

*** SPOILERS ***

Go see it.

Bring a tissue.

I take no responsibility for any massive, life-rending emotional trauma that might result from doing so.

Bring more than one tissue.

*** END SPOILERS ***

That's it. It's like 1am and I have a Tribe 8 game tomorrow where my character gets to ram a magic dagger through his left hand. It'll be fun.

Oh yeah, thinking of trying out a new sig file. What do ya'll think of this:

Come away, Oh human child
to the waters and the wild
With a faeire hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
than you can undestand

It's actually one line longer than I like my sig files to be, but that's not too bad.

::Struts into the CR, looking very relaxed.::

You'd look relaxed too if you had my day! I woke up at 730 to drive my brother to camp, then went into the office. At 1240, I left for lunch with two friends. Lunch was 2.5 hours. Then I went back to work to pick up my paycheck, sat down for about 30 minutes of real work, then packed up and left.

I love being the boss' son. While he's out of town, I get to park in his spot, drive his car, set my own hours, and use his office. And while setting my own hours, I still get paid for a full day's work. What could be bad?

Anyway, I'm working a full shift of tech support tonight, then I'm spending the night at my best friend's house so we can wake up early tomorrow to go to Ozzfest. That, my friends, is gonna rock. Hard.

Oh, and I'm working in my boxers again. So don't anyone call and ask "what are you wearing" cuz the answer is "virtually nothing". ;-)

My next post should be late Saturday night or early sunday morning. I'll miss you all. ;-)

Zehra asked me to post her link to her gathering pictures. So here it is: http://www.geocities.com/zehrocket/gatheringpics.html

Hey if anyone wants to buy my powerbook at the end of the summer, please let me know. I'm asking $1000 for the laptop itself, includes a battery, cd rom drive, all the original manuals, original packaging, and all the software I can steal that you want. I'm also offering a laptop-burner-printer-zip drive-extra battery package for $1500. Let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested.

Yes, it is a MAC laptop.

If no one buys it all summer, I'll ebay it (yes, "ebay" is now a verb). But I'd rather sell it to or through someone I know.

Okay, replies time.

SJ: I just had the fascinating realization that you're a 24 year old Criminal something-or-other major who drools over a 17 yr old. How's THAT for irony?

Traveler: <<Long live the evil empire!!!>>: ::SMACK:: ::Digital bitch-slap:: Don't ever say that! Microsoft is evil even when they make a decent product (I'm starting to love IE and OE on the mac...but I still won't use them). May they burn in the lowest circle of hell. Wait, the lowest circle of hell is frozen. May they burn in the city of Dis.

Wilek: <<slather them with BBQ sauce, run them through the backyard, and let the guests tear off a piece>>: Wait a minute. Does that mean we'll let them run through the backyard WHILE they're covered with BBQ sauce!? You didn't mention "kill" anywhere in that sentence...

XenaTrek: <<wouldn't let me install or run AIM>>: Another defective OS from Redmond... <<What is Time Zone is TCR close set to?>>: Its sorta close to eastern time, but I just call it "CR Time". It doesn't do any good to run a conversion anyway.

Spacebabie: <<Was there another pepper contest?! >>: What's that? (I guess then the answer is no). <<they can both dress up as conjoined twins>>: That would be hysterical, and redundant. I'm sure we'd spend most of the Gathering hanging out together anyway. <<SJ can be up close and personal to the ladies he was slobbering over>>: I'm discovering its not that difficult. I did, and I managed to go the entire weekend without being smacked! <<I'm refering to Vixen>>: You have a cat named vixen?! Cool! <<Cornbread, theres nothing wrong with that.>>: Amen.

Stephen: <<Great series of pics there... especially some of the candid shots>>: Thank you...which candid shots? ;-)

Kyryn: <<I married one of the guys that I went to high school with>>: Is that good or not? Could I infer from this that I could get some USC chicks? ;-) The ones I know are pretty superficial...

DPH: <<What the heck do you need for 4 buttons on a trackball for?>>: If you can't figure it out, why the heck did you buy it!? Yes, there are many uses for four buttons, but most of them only work on macs. Ironic that the operating system the most USE for mouse buttons sells with a mouse that has the fewest. <<The software to install it came on a . . . CD-ROM>>: Of course it does, stooge. All software comes on a CD ROM. All computers have CD-ROM's but not all computers have floppy drives. Floppy drives are being phased out, in case you didn't notice, as file sizes increase exponentially. <<Microsoft really should change its name to megasha . . megasoft to indicate the size of its software>>: Doing that would eliminate half of all microsoft jokes! <<Why doesn't Windows stop acknowledging the use of my mouse?>>: Because its still plugged in!

DPH, are you really a computer nerd? I'm starting to wonder...

Anyway, optical trackballs are the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. The whole idea with optical is that there are no moving parts to collect gunk. Grease from your fingers builds up on a trackball, causing just as many skips as if you had rollers in there...fools.

Jannie: <<there's really NO excuse for an unplanned pregnancy!>>: The sad reality is that sometimes even when you're careful, bad things can still happen. That's one of the many reasons I don't date. <<She has not only fcuked up her life, but also mine>>: Kill it. <<Call me a snob>>: Okay so far we've got three new names for CR members. Jannie is now "a snob", Coyote is "Sappy", and Gunjack is "Moochie". <<I expect and demand that my grandchildren be given the same (or better) opportunities and luxuries that my children had>>: I'd expect my children to be raised with the same or better opportunities that I had. And quite frankly, that's not possible. I'd have to make SOOOO much money to provide my life to someone else AND keep mine in the style to which I've become accustomed that its scary. And that's not even including an ex-wife or two...

Sappy: <<everyone can call me "Sappy">>: Okay, sappy. <<I'm not sure that any karaoke operator would have *any* Tool>>: That one didn't, at least not that I could see. <<I Would Do Anything For Love.>>: Even...that!? <<don't computer programmers have an equivalent to ASE?>>: Yes they do. But I'm not a programmer. What kind of loser to do take me for?

SJ: <<hooker with a penis>>: Before you point your finger, you should know that I'm the man.

Beth H: <<the Queen of Jpop!>>: aka bigger crap than Backstreet Boys. <<enjoy doing special things for each other>>: Another roughing penalty! 20 yards! But congrats on staying together, and thanks for your attempt to keep things light. Us single people appreciate it.

Gside: <<D. If you want an anagram>>: I think he meant synonym. <<Depends on the placement of the farm animals>>: So that's what they're for. <<You mean mithril?>>: No. Mithril was found. The chain mail had to be invented. <<Besides feeding us, there's also the PSL>>: Sick, dude. <<I think that would be Imzadi, me, no one, and Wilek, respectively>>: But I'm the only one who says anything.

As always there is a good chance I will be checking e-mail by clamping down my teeth onto the overhead wires and whistling modem tones if necessary.

DPH> <<Can anyone give me an acronmyn (spelling?) for the word 'dictator'?>>: Easy: D. If you want an anagram, I can't help you.

Imzadi> <<How compromising could it have been if there was someone else in the room?>>: Depends on the placement of the farm animals.
<<Are you sure he's the evil one>>: Absolutely not, but it's the more common phrase.
<<No, just more than one>>: Which, by your definition is too many.
<<I thought its why Elfin Chain was invented>>: You mean mithril?
<<Better get started>>: Already did.
<<Literally>>: My point, though I've only heard the two lines as a couplet.
<<What for?>>: Livestock is always necessary. Besides feeding us, there's also the PSL.

XenaTrek> Welcom back. The clock is just completely messed up, so don't worry about it.

Beth> <<keeping this short so as to not make people all grouchy, jealous, bitter, etc.>>: I think that would be Imzadi, me, no one, and Wilek, respectively. But the third one could chane should there be any messy breakups.

I had a good day. ^_^ Went to Japan Town in San Francisco and got some Japanese language books (Kanji workbook, 501 Japanese verbs, Japanese slang), two manga (Love Hina volumes 4 and 5) and a CD single by Ayumi Hamasaki (the Queen of Jpop!). I also took my folks to a Japanese restaurant just across from the bookstore in the mall and introduced them to okinomiyaki. I had a Modern Soba-Yaki Special. It was soba noodles sandwiched between two okinomiyaki on the bottom and an egg and sauce on top. Totemo oishii deshita! (translation: It was very delicious!) Dad had a standard okinomiyaki, while mom had a mixed plate dish, but she tried some of my food. :)

The best thing of all was that there was no bitchy sister to deal with. ^_^

Update on David and me: We're still together. AND having lots of fun enjoying each other's company. ^_^ (keeping this short so as to not make people all grouchy, jealous, bitter, etc.) David and I enjoy doing special things for each other. :)

That's all for now. later!

Thoughts at random ...

XenaTrek: Best bet, since the local VFW doesn't have listings on all the posts nationwide, is going to be looking in the front of your phone book. If yours is laid out anything like ours, it should have a segment in the beginning for "Community Service," which will list all service organizations (including the VFW) in your area. Mom also suggests checking with the local Lion's Club.

Oh, and fine then, everyone can call me "Sappy" then. :P

Siofra: Hmmm ... there are worse rides for you, Siofra. Case in point ... while it wasn't too unpleasant because I was with Ravyn, our roadtrip out to LA from Phoenix got off to a rocky start because her car started acting up just inside the Arizona border (to the point that we broke down just outside of Indio, California at a truck stop). We were very desperate to cool the engine off ... so desperate that we were running the HEATER in the middle of the desert, which IIRC was running at temps of 100+ *in the shade.*
I believe that might be one of the reasons my pants are so loose now ... not that I'm complaining, of course. ;)

SJ: Probably no chance of getting Eminem, but would ya settle for my co-worker's son? (a very promising indie artist by the stage name of White Boy Ric)
I'm not sure that any karaoke operator would have *any* Tool, though ... hell, I was lucky that this one even had Meat Loaf, and even *then* it was mostly the most recent stuff (including *two* arrangements of "I Would Do Anything For Love.").

Josh: Nope, actually I'm going to study the scripts and then use what I learn from their formatting to write my *own* properties into animation scripts.
As far as the patch goes ... don't computer programmers have an equivalent to ASE? Maybe you oughtta start one up, y'know? ;)

Stephen: Thanks, man. :)

Kyryn: And thank you, ma'am. :)

Jannie: Oooooh ... just you wait!! ;)

You might not feel it yet, but I know someday you will look back on this and feel very thankful that you had the chance to make such a huge difference in someone's life that you care so much about. He or she is never going to forget the influence that you will have on them. I wish you the best of luck and I know that things will all work out in time. *big hugs*

Well, I'm heading up north in the morning for over a week with no internet connection *sigh*. Then I'm getting my wisdom teeth out the next monday so I'll have plenty of time to recover and catch up. Take care all and have a great holiday week!

DPH> OOoO that might be me! I'm not sure where exactly Conway is - can't find my map. Umm...how far are you from Fayetteville/Rogers area? I'm about 45 miles north of Fayetteville :)

Coyote> yup! we're even now ;) *L*

I went to a garage sale this morning and actually bought a stroller! *blinks* It's a deluxe BMW model of the strollers and I got it for only $25 (sold new last year for $160).... my how quickly our lives change - just a few days ago I bought Gargoyle items for my own personal collection and now I'm buying baby strollers. *falls over* I also bought a Cookie Monster that talks when you squeeze it. I couldn't pass up the Golden Books that she also had for sale and bought every one of them - about 20 in all. Everything this lady had was like brand new and not a fleck of dust or dirt on anything!
I've decided not to buy any of the baby furniture new (waste of money). I will search around and find good used furniture instead. Geesh, just a couple of months ago I was looking for antique furniture for the guest bedroom and now it's turned to baby cribs and changing tables... folks, I'm really having a hard time with the adjustment. O.o I think I'm hitting the angry stage and self-pity part of this adjustment period. I'm furious that she didn't take more care in preventing a pregnancy - in this day and age, there's really NO excuse for an unplanned pregnancy! (with the exception of rape, etc) But not for 2 horny people getting their groove on. She has not only fcuked up her life, but also mine. She is bringing an innocent child into this world - one that she is not capable of taking care of - at least not to the point of providing the child with the best possible life he/she deserves. I know it's not the end of the world and thousands of babies are born in this same situation - but none of the other babies are my grandchildren. Call me a snob - but I expect and demand that my grandchildren be given the same (or better) opportunities and luxuries that my children had. No, they don't have to have a lot of money or anything like that, but at least comfortable enough to provide the extras in life, good food for the child, decent clothes, toys, a good home, etc. And what's the most frustrating? I can't do anything about it. It's completely out of my hands (if she decides to raise the child on her own). I can provide as much as possible for the grandchild, but I will always have to go thru Anna first... i.e. power struggle.
ack, I'm rambling and ranting.. my apologies. Crying does this to me. I've cried for the past few hours and I'm in the rambling stage now. *sais*
Sorry, I'll pull myself back together in a moment or two.

This too shall pass.

I just spent ~$70 on accessories for this PC. What accessories: a CD cleaner, a cover for the keyboard, and a brand new trackball. It is a Microsoft Optical trackball and it has 4 buttons. What the heck do you need for 4 buttons on a trackball for? Half-click and half right click?

The software to install it came on a . . . CD-ROM. What the heck? Microsha . . Microsoft really should change its name to megasha . . megasoft to indicate the size of its software. Wait a minute I just noticed something: The mouse I left plugged into my PC still works and will compete with my trackball for mouse pointer movement. Why doesn't Windows stop acknowledging the use of my mouse? BTW, I do know I can unplug my mouse.

Welcome back to all who went to the Gathering and thanks for all the good pics.

Daphne> I'm sorry to hear about the robbery. I hope that things will go better for you in the future.

Stephen> I hope that your health will improve.

Emambu>Good to see you posting again. I was beginning to wonder where you had gone.

Sevarius> A TMNT movie that's a lot closer to the original? And directed by John Woo? Coolies!<Josh really doesn't look like a gay surfer, contrary to his Microsoft icon.> Surfer, yes. Gay, no. However, he does resemble altogether too many of the guys that I went to high school with. (Then again, I married one of the guys that I went to high school with.)

Coyote> Congrats on getting the house sold and on the certification!

Urg. Okami and I have got to spend part of this weekend repairing a 30-year-old washing machine. (Cheaper than buying a new one.) The good news is that its a Maytag. Once we repair it, it will probably last another 30 years.

Later, All!

Greetings all...

COYOTE - Happy to hear about the time spent between you and Raven... especially the part about you and her dancing at the Masquerade! You GO MAN!

SJ - So long as we agree that we can disagree on things... <chuckles> I do apreciate the E-updates you post. Especially the news about a new Turtles movie... one that reflects the ORIGNAL Eastman/Laird comic: violent, dark and yet very entertaining! I still have some graphic novels of the collected comic, and my old "TMNT & other Strangeness" RPG masterbook...

EMAMBU - Cool to see you here again! Where did your reviews for the last Sabledrake go?

JOSH - Great series of pics there... especially some of the candid shots. ^_^

Will have more to report later... Maintain and Check Six!

Well, I guess you can say I feel 95 percent better.

Xanthar>> Glad to see you around again. So what have been up to down under there in the land down under?

Gathering>>Everybody who went had a blast I see. I am thinking about going next year.

Coyote>>Is not sappy, As i remember it he was Mara's Coyote spirit guide after she ate all those peppers at gathering 2K

Was there another pepper contest?!

Does anyone else believe that SJ and Josh should both be at the Gathering 2002? At the masquerade they can both dress up as conjoined twins, and SJ can be up close and personal to the ladies he was slobbering over.

Boy is my brother in the dog house. He didn't inform my parents that he was spending the night at a friend's house, not to mention he left his alarm to come on at six am, he also had some chores to do that he didn't do, so when my dad called him up on the cell phone he gave all this BS and my dad bought into the bs.

I swear my cat has a strange appetite. I'm refering to Vixen. She LOVES ice cream and potatoe chips, yet she still has the body that is the feline equivilent to a supermodel. No here is the strange thing. Ever get that Dole organic blend of baby lettuce leaves? She likes the lettuce leaves!

Jannie>>>Chicken and dumplings?::Shudder:: Yes I know I was born in Texas I grew up in Florida but i have a Nrotherner's stomache when it comes to southern foods, Collard greens, chicken fried steak, white gravey, grits? Yeech. The only two that i can handle is fried chicken and corn bread...like Chris Rock says "Cornbread, theres nothing wrong with that."

I actually found a cough syrup that has real honey in it.

Xanathar: > Re: By the way, has Xenatrek been around lately? >> Hey, hows it going? Yes it's true, I haven't been around lately. Me sorry. *hugs* Coyote usually knows where I'm am, so get him to 'hunt' me down in case I get lost again. *winks*

Coyote: >> I got two letters that I tried to send out to VFW last week that said the addresses don't exist. Can you ask your mom to check with her post to see if they have an office or two down this way? In case they need counties, I'm in Orange. Ocola is just north of me, and right now I can't remember whats west, east or south of me. (Unless Spacebaby knows it on the top of her head). Also if you recall (just a guess here); Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Winter Park, Ocoee, Oviedo, Kissemee, Lake Buena Vista and Lake Mary are 'suburbs' of Orlando. Thanks. *hugs*

FS & LM: >> Great to chat with you guys. Also I'm sorry to have missed you when I was up your way a few weeks ago. I thought I had mentioned it or that Coyote has mentioned it. Then again, he did forget twice that I was up that way. :oP @ Coyote.

Crzy: >> Same to you about chatting with you last night. Sorry it was short tho. Hopefully next time I will be longer.

Also for those who I chat with online every now and then. Sorry I haven't been online, I just bought a new computer (actually its a month old, anyway...) and it runs Windows 2000 and at first it wouldn't let me install or run AIM. Now it works! My Screenname is still same, so when you see me online give me a yell (and vice versa). You can also yell at Coyote if you don't see me, and he will 'hunt' me down.

Imazdi: > Re: HEY EVERYONE COYOTE'S NEW NAME IS SAPPY! >> *LOL* He's also got about three other names. One of them I just got Ravyn to call him. Don't worry Sappy... er... Coyote your 'secret' is safe w/ me.

PAWS aka Hearing Dog Update: >> I'm up to 2 Grand now (out of 5 Grand) in donations and contribution. Thanks for tho who has donated. If anyone else would like to make a donation, please email me privately, and I'll give you the details. I'll keep you guys posted.

Rav: >> Not sure if you will be checking in here or not anytime soon. I'll be emailing you soon kiddo.

Same thing for GB tho I'm sure you'll (he'll) be calling me in a couple of weeks once you (he) moves into Ft. Bragg.

Well... a few more hours of work and then my friends and I are off to see "AI: Artifical Intelligence". If anyone is interested, I'll post my review. I've also seen "Tomb Raider" and "Atlantis", if anyone wants my take on those, I'll post that as well. L8R.

Today was a short day at the office. My parents left down for a couple days to help my grandparents move, so my little bro and I have the house to ourselves. Go figure that they leave right AFTER everyone from Gathering does. If they'd only left earlier, I could've had a few people stay over for an extra day or two. Oh well.

Anyway, today PSInet officially went offline, so the calls were rolling in. I've made about $72 in just 6 hours, which is usually more than I make in an entire week doing tech support. Its chicken feed compared to what I make at my other job, but its not bad money for sitting around on my bed playing on the computer. Just 310 more calls till I get that new iBook (yes, that's iBook, not TiBook, my computer decisions have shifted slightly), and about 700 more till I get my g4 tower. YAY!

And for all you ladies: I worked tech support tonight in nothing but my boxers.

You're welcome for that image.

So I worked most of the night. I know a couple people asked me to post the number in here so you can speak to me on someone else's dime, but that'll have to wait for another time, since we were very busy tonight. I'm actually typing this post a few words at a time between calls. Very frustrating. So if I repeat myself, forgive me.

When my parents left town today, they left me with my mom's car, a slick little mercedes CLK. Problem is, they took the 6-CD cassettes that go in the changer. So the car only has radio. How do you drive a car as bad@$$ as that one without MUSIC!? Forgive me for acting like a spoiled brat (I am), but this really frustrated me. Oh well. The punishment to my parents is that I'm going to turn off child protection on the TV system, so my brother will be able to watch all the movies he's not supposed to while they're away. BWUAHAHA. My parents will get back tomorrow night instead of Saturday, which means that...well, it means absolutely nothing. I wasn't gonna be home Saturday anyway.

I'm not surprised that Judge Jackson's ruling against microsoft was overturned today, considering the way he behaved. Fortunately, only the penalty was overturned, not the ruling. Microsoft is still guilty. Another judge will decide how they should be punished (please, please take away their business license!). I hope they still get split up, preferrably NOT along product lines. That won't do anyone any good. We'll just have three different monopolies in three different areas. What we need is three identical companies. That will force quality and create real and fair competition...I hope.

On to the replies!

Daphne: <<I want a street light>>: And I want a new computer or two, but...oh, wait...DOH. <<Hadn't thought of that one.... :)>>: When I think of senses, sight is the last thing that comes to mind. Touch is far more critical. <<he grew up paranoid>>: I'm sorry, is this your boyfriend we're talking about? <<everyone's so nice here :)>>: HAH! Obviously you missed the Gathering! <<i probably won't make it for a few years yet>>: Can't travel by yourself yet? Are you underage? <<I like unions>>: Unions are evil. Just ask any republican. <<just ask the jeopardy teen tournament people>>: Punks wouldn't take me...didn't want to lose any money to me ;-)

Patrick Toman: <<I have NOT flown off to Mexico with all the money.>>: That was your first mistake. <<the G2001 con staff will NOT be dropping off the face of the earth>>: And that was your second. <<Madame Destine WILL be submitting to the "Titania's Secret">>: I can't wait to see what you guys come up with! <<the important thing is we survived AND we're all still friends>>: Most impressive. <<Watching Aaron and Mara spend money like their last names were Xanatos at the Charity Auction>>: And then watching them when their last name WAS Xanatos at the Masquerade! <<Seeing Cindy in her Titania costume>>: Seeing any female in a Titania costume would be a highlight!

FS: Are you on the next con staff? If you are, could you please do something about the con badges next year? Make the names large enough that I don't have to press my nose to a girl's breasts to read her name (and i have perfect vision too!). Not that I mind pressing my nose to a girl's breasts...but sometimes the girl gets offended. And if you get said info, would you mind forwarding it to me? I'm dying to know all that stuff.

Azrael: <<I sincerely hope he's being mostly sarcastic and using hyperbole>>: Sarcasm? Hyperbole? I know not these things! ;-) The fact is that post bordered on hyperbole. I'm a bit serious when I tell her to either do something or be quiet about it. <<not just "he's one of those guys.>>: Oddly enough, my parents love it when I date "one of those girls". <<But be prepared for whatever the consequences are>>: There's Lain's problem. She doesn't want to have to deal with consequences either way. That's why "her bum's sore from sitting on the fence". Its why she can't decide whether she believes in god or not. She just doesn't like the responsibility of making choices, cuz she's still a child at heart.

Kathy: <<you embarrassed to stare at people's chests?>>: Not exactly. But girls tend to get offended (for reasons beyond my comprehension, don't they realize its a compliment!?) and try to injure me. I don't like that very much.

Xanathar: <<I hope I will have enough money to go myself>>: If you budget well, even a minimum wage worker can make it. Its all a question of priorities. I'd rather have Cable and DSL for a year than go to Gathering in VA, but that's just me. <<I can't remember if Beholders have any tele-kenetic abbilites or spells>>: Some do. ::Glances at Monstrous Manual:: <<it's going to evolve into a PII 333>>: That's a devolution, not an evolution...unless you've currently got something worse than a PII 333, which is hard to come by these days. You should consider selling it as an antique. <<having wires everywhere is a small price to pay for next to no Lag>>: I've played large multiplayer starcraft games via Airport, and never noticed any lag. Its quite fast enough. <<ever played QuakeII over the internet with a 56k modem>>: Do I look stupid to you? Don't answer that! <<or maybe I'm just being spoiled for speed>>: Bah. In the dorms I had a T3 connection. Now THAT spoiled me. Here I am posting on a slow-dem...argh.

Christine: <<having him bitch me out for them not being buxom>>: Its a sad day when this happens... <<he's drawing Godiva for me!>>: I don't think he can handle that much "buxom" ;-)

Revel: <<it looks like me when I shave>>: Oh my god it does. That's scary. <<some people actually talk and act exactly the seame why that they post>>: Am I in that group? <<people saw me try and dance even though they probably wish they hadn't>>: Au contraire. I'm glad I saw it. Now I have blackmail material for the rest of your life. What's that? You've got a girlfriend? Not anymore... ;-) <<was the disc worth 200 big ones>>: What a silly question. Of course it wasn't. The point is that we got it and someone else didn't!

Warpmind: <<looking unethical and smug>>: Take off that Josh mask! <<install.exe>>: *.exe? What is this...executable...you speak of? Us mac users know not these pesky extensions. A program should know what files it can open. <<you have certainly NOT fired autos larger than that>>: You misunderstood. I didn't mean that I'd fired automatical weapons larger than that. I meant I'd fired autos...as in automobiles...as ammunition...and I was being sarcastic. <<Black/Red combo with lots of cheapos, right?>>: Wrong. Its a blue counterspell deck with a bit of white thrown in for good measure. <<you can turn somersaults in any kind of armor>>: I wish you luck with full plate. <<one of my neighbours actually offered me pot or cheap booze>>: I wouldn't trust pot offered from someone that offered me cheap booze. Anyone who has the good stuff can afford expensive alcohol. <<Lain IS cute... but I'd rather have Lynati here>>: Didn't she blow you off?

Lain: <<so whats this about me only complaining about my father?>>: No one said you only complain about your dad, just that you complain a lot and don't do anything about it. <<i use lain iwakura as my name on it so>>: My bad. You must have told me. <<you offer good advice>>: ...which you never listen to. <<im calling collect, of course>>: When the phone company asks you to state your name, do you say "lain"? <<insight into my behaviour>>: insight, shminsight. Pure observation. <<his mother is kinda psycho>>: That's a valid reason to worry. <<has called me a few times when i was feeling down>>: But that's not a valid reason to think she's psycho. <<my arms must be long to reach all the way to NORWAY>>: Or you've been carrying around a portable hole. <<wherever it is held>>: Its in Virginia. I think we can safely assume its not going to be in Canada anytime soon, as most of the con goers live in the states.

Lynati: <<mrphgl>>: Was that english? <<We scared the special guest, we scarded the special guest!>>: Like that was SOOOOO hard for a group of RHPS fans. <<Why would you want ME up there?>>: If you find out, will you tell me? Cuz I'm wonderin' too.

Aaron: What's your screen name on Instant Messenger or ICQ?

Mara: Same question as Aaron.

Jannie: I think its possible you have actually taken the worlds first decent picture of me...::checks again::...nope, I was mistaken. ;-) I rule as the longest running human life without a single good picture!

Coyote: <<So sue me>>: Then I'll use the money to outbid you next year! <<those scripts are definitely going to come in handy>>: Opening a plagurizing business? <<being finally able to
spend time with Ravyn *in person*>>: Better keep tabs on her, those female engineers are in high demand. <<in a rather compromising position>>: How compromising could it have been if there was someone else in the room? <<failing to resist the temptation of *karaoke.*>>: And we all wished you had been successful in that resisting. <<Call me sappy>>: Okay, sappy. <<"YOU CAN'T BULLS**T ME" PATCH!>>: I want one!

HEY EVERYONE COYOTE'S NEW NAME IS SAPPY!

Jannie: <<I was wearing the sparkle red dress at the banquet>>: Do you have a picture? I'm trying to figure out if you're the girl I'm thinking of. There was this really cute chick who was there with her mom, but I'm not sure if that's the same girl that was wearing the red dress at Masquerade.

Gside: <<So I really do have an evil twin>>: Are you sure he's the evil one? <<So you're learning English measure now>>: The scary thing is that now that I'm an engineer, that saddens me. <<He seems to take offense at too many of his personalities being engineers>>: No, just more than one. <<Which is why I've invented the Bergeron-Toriyama workout>>: I thought its why Elfin Chain was invented. <<Proof that it's been way too long since I last reread the trilogy>>: Better get started. <<Yup. Old news>>: LOL. <<Theory, theory, theory>>: That's how I know I"m not you. <<Keep it in the family>>: Literally.

Siofra: <<Being the only 'heathen' in a group of Christians stuck on a 6 1/2 hour trip: Priceless>>: What does a trip to Dr. Kervorkian cost these days? ;-)

Emambu: <<AvMist critques>>: What'dja think of my icons?

SJ: <<Oh wait, I keep forgetting, I'm *not* Josh "Imzadi" Wurzel>>: Easy to forget such a thing. We all wanna be like me. But I never said that line that you opened with. <<or bought a small South American country>>: I bought one just with the money I saved by already living in LA (ie not staying at Con hotel, not eating at the banquet, not having to fly)...next year, I may have to choose between this and something big. <<have the damn thing on the Moon>>: Then only Denis Tito could go. I don't even think the guests could afford that. <<I am, physically, much more attractive than several of you. Most of you, actually>>: I came to a similar conclusion. Maybe we really are the same person. I have a fan club as proof! <<and the ridicule will begin>>: Well then either post a picture, ya big wuss, or send one to someone who can (me, for instance). <<The WOMEN of the fandom are, by and large, incredibly hot>>: HAH. You are SOOOO misguided. We just only took pictures of the good looking ones! <<full pictorial of the babes>>: I posted several pictures of Dreamie in a bra. What more do you want?! <<You, my friend, you do get a gold star, for the fine camera work>>: Yes! <<a nice shot of Ylla's ass>>: I was wondering how many people at first glance could tell what "yllasass.jpg" was a picture of. <<At least there was one horny teenage boy there that I could depend on>>: Although technically I'll only be a teenager for another three months, I intend to be a "horny teenage boy" forever. <<Cold Shower Award to Dreamie>>: Amen. I took two. I tried to give you good pictures of that. I also tried to wear shades whenever I was near her. I hope she doesn't dig through this post and find that ;-). <<I hate you>>: No use hating him. It can't last forever...or can it? <<Josh really doesn't look like a gay surfer>>: You must be me, because I'm the only one who doesn't think I look like a gay surfer. <<contrary to his Microsoft icon>>: Microsoft!? MICROSOFT!??!? I'd like to see winblows display a 128x128 icon with full alpha masking and transparencies in millions of colors! That, my friend, was a MAC icon. <<Was Mara's beard drawn on with a magic marker?>>: Yes. <<Aaron makes one damn fine looking woman>>: I'd have to agree. <<I will karaoke whenever I do attend a Gathering, but only if all of the songs are by the group Tool>>: Need a backup singer? <<I'll bring the livestock!>>: What for? <<Oh Christ, maybe we really ARE the same person>>: Maybe?! <<I really don't care if Angelina Jolie's breasts were padded>>: Nor should you. I love when people tell me that some chick's boobs are fake. I always respond with "So?" <<a CTHD *animated* series might be made>>: Well, most cartoons have lousy plots, so this shouldn't be a hard sell. <<this series might not suck!>>: And I might become the queen of England. <<how is he going to have the time to play James Bond?>>: James Bond bangs half the women in Hollywood, so I imagine they can just film it. ::porn music:: <<in the form of a DARK AND ****VIOLENT**** anime movie>>: This could be the first anime feature I can sit through without a stinging desire to remove my own frontal lobe.

CrzyDemona: <<You were just too damn good looking>>: You must be on crack. I suggest you check yourself into a rehab clinic. This leads me to the following conclusion: all women who find me attractive are either unattainable or undesireable (you being in the former category (unless the crack joke was true, in which case you'd be in the latter), though most being in the later category). <<Curses... foiled again>>: THAT sounds vaguely familiar.

DPH: <<acronymn for dicatator>>: communist ;-). Seriously, though, try "slave-driver".

I can see B.S. behind twenty feet of lead reinforced concrete, in a blizzard, at night, underground, on another planet, in a galaxy far far away.

Well, another Gathering has come and gone, and boy did I have a good time. I enjoyed meeting you all, and….

Oh wait, I keep forgetting, I'm *not* Josh "Imzadi" Wurzel. Or am I? OR AM I???

Ahem. Well, looking at the Gathering from afar, through your words and pictures, I have come to the following conclusions about this year's big event. Keep in mind, these are just my opinions.

*Financially, it was a wise move for me to stay at home this year. With the amount of dough necessary, apparently, I could have either gone to the Gathering, or bought a small South American country. I propose that we just go for broke next year and let it all hang out, and have the damn thing on the Moon.
* I am, physically, much more attractive than several of you. Most of you, actually. (Which is a myth that will continue to perpetuate until that time in which one of you actually does see a picture of what I truly look like, and the ridicule will begin. Until then, though, the subterfuge will remain.)
* The WOMEN of the fandom are, by and large, incredibly hot. To those of you who took some of those wonderful photos of the women of the Gathering, I thank you and I curse you. I applaud you for taking the photos that you did; I curse you for wasting film on such silly things as your friends and family, and not given us what we truly want (well, what I truly want): a full pictorial of the babes. I'm kidding of course! Okay, I'm not. No really, that was a joke. I am kidding. Cross my fingers, hope to…..I mean, cross my heart, hope to die.
* Josh: You, my friend, you do get a gold star, for the fine camera work. Sure, there were the obligatory photo shots of Thom, but more importantly you gave us something much more relevant: a nice shot of Ylla's ass. HURRAH!!!!!! At least there was one horny teenage boy there that I could depend on.
* To continue the non-stop talk of women, I give the Sevarius Jr. Cold Shower Award to Dreamie, the undisputed Queen of the Gathering. The Cold Shower Award goes to the absolute hottest babe at the Gathering, and Dreamie won this year for having the wear withal to sport a trendy camo suit, a la Destiny's Child in that "Survivor" video. Hellooooo, nurse! ;)
* To Winterwolf, RE: being Dreamie's boyfriend---- I hate you. My jealously knows no bounds. ;)
* Coyote and Ravyn make a cute couple. Warpmind was balder than I expected him to be. Josh really doesn't look like a gay surfer, contrary to his Microsoft icon. Was Mara's beard drawn on with a magic marker?
And finally….
* Aaron makes one damn fine looking woman. You were runner up for the Cold Shower Award, big boy.

Okay, now I really am joking. Maybe. ;)

Coyote: Hey, if you can get the Gathering in Detroit, any chance that the real Slim Shady could join us? And I saw a couple pics of you singing in Jannie's pics. I promise that I will karaoke whenever I do attend a Gathering, but only if all of the songs are by the group Tool. You may have the Meatloaf stuff nailed down, but my rendition of the classic "Hooker with a Penis" will leave you breathless. And offended. ;)

Lain: There's just so much I could say to you, but I think I will just say this: I find it insufferably cute the way you spell check with a q-u-e, whereas we Yanks typically use a c-k. You silly, silly Canadians! ;) You're all a bunch of jerks!!!
Oh, and the Gathering at your house sounds great! I'll bring the livestock!

Josh: <<I'm finding out that I've pissed off a lot of people unintentionally.>> <<Jennifer Anderson. Its quite interesting being introduced to someone and having them say "can I kick your ass now?">> Oh Christ, maybe we really ARE the same person after all….

Stephen: <<in fact, some of the remarks/posts sometimes make me feel like the first thing I'd do if I ever met you was punch you square in the face.>> Another friend made! If I get that sort of reaction, than….I'm doing my job!
Again, I kid. It's what I do, because I am a rather large smartass, which is the reason why, at times, you do feel like punching me, even if you never would. And to reaffirm what you said, I don't have anything against you, personally, either. I did have that suspicion that you felt the way you did, though. I suppose that we shall remain two polar opposites.

And now on to ENTERTAINMENT STUFF!!!!
First off, I'd like to say that I really don't care if Angelina Jolie's breasts were padded during Tomb Raider. They were the only things getting me through that movie.

Just some quick stuff:

* Ang Lee is apparently seriously considering making a sequel (prequel?) to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". I believe that he's even called for a script to be written. This is on the heels of the rumor that a CTHD *animated* series might be made.

* For the new Star Trek show, "Enterprise", there is talk that James Cromwell will reprise his role as Zephram Cochrane for one of the show's episodes (maybe the pilot). Hey, this series might not suck! Then again, given their track record…

* In news that isn't quite new, Russell Crowe, out Best Actor of 2000, is reportedly in the front running to be the new 007 when Pierce Brosnan hangs up his hat. I don't think that will ever happen though. Russell is too busy banging half of the women in Hollywood, how is he going to have the time to play James Bond?

*God love them, they are planning a sequel to "The Fast and the Furious". Even I, the biggest Vin Diesel fan on the planet, have to laugh at that.

*This isn't really news, but I'd be eternally indebted to the individual who could point me in the direction of a copy of "The Phantom Edit". Many of you probably know what that is, but if you don't, some wonderful Star Wars fan out there took the Phantom Menace, and edited out all traces of Jar Jar Binks. And the movie is, apparently, MUCH better. Anyone know where I can get a copy of this before the jack-booted thugs at the Skywalker Compound erase all evidence of this superior product?

*In news that makes me jump up and down with joy….remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? They're coming back! Are you laughing? You won't be.
The TMNT will return to the big screen, only in the form of a DARK AND ****VIOLENT**** anime movie that is being made by none other than Hong Kong Action Cinema God, John Woo. Yes, the maker of "The Killer" and "A Better Tomorrow" and (one of my all-time favorites) "Hard Boiled" will be making a Turtles movie, and he's going to make it more like the comic-which is to say, very violent and grim. I can't wait!!!

*Peeks in*

Hmmm... everyone's still on their Gathering high it seems... not that I blame them. I'll come back later then. Congrats to all who had a good time. I look forward to reading the about what went down as well as actually meeting a few of you in 2002.

Winterwolf: Saw your nod in my direction a few weeks back. You actually missed me? *sniff* I really need to start getting back into my regular weekly posting. It's just that I've been very busy, on top of other things. But hey, if you want to talk, I got an e-mail address link right at the bottom.

Actually, looking back over the last few weeks, I seemed to have found my niche in this forum: AvMist critques. No one in here gave a thorough critiquing/praising/constructive criticism for all those who sweated it out to make deadlines (unlike me who still hasn't finished his story)? *tsk tsk*

Daphne: I'm so sorry to hear that you were robbed. I guess the good news is that you weren't harmed physically. You can always replace materials that were lossed. It would hard you replace _you_. I'm glad that you're ok. Also, since I'm going to the Gathering in 2002, I could offer you a lift down to Virginia Beach (I made the same offer to Winterwolf too). Just a suggestion. You have at least a year to think about it so you don't have to make a decision now.

I'll let you all get back to your fun. ;) Take care,

Charter bus fee: $250

Ticket to Cedar Point: $35

Being the only 'heathen' in a group of Christians stuck on a 6 1/2 hour trip: Priceless

Okay, so I just got back from the worst trip ever...
The bus broke down on the way to Cedar Point so we had to wait for almost two hours for a mechanic to come with new fan belts and fix it, so a three hour drive turned into six and a half hours. We all sat on the side of the highway in the shade of the bus while we waited. And to make it even better, I had to listen to a bunch of 13-16 year olds singing a bunch of Christian songs. I felt like running over to hug a tree, but I didn't want to draw attention to myself ; ) The time we spent at the park was cool. It was my boyfriend's group, so I only knew a few people, but we still had fun. The worst part was the ride home, though. The air conditioning had gone out when the fan belts broke so when we got on the bus after being at the park all day, it was so hot that it hurt to breathe. We had to stop about a half an hour into the trip because some kids were getting sick from the heat. Luckily, a parent had driven behind the bus in their suburban with air conditioning, so the people that were doing the worst got to ride with them. The driver was being really nasty about it, saying that it wasn't that bad and the air wasn't broken (yeah, tell that to the people getting hyperthermia). Anyway, we got home really late because the driver had to drive 60 so he wouldn't blow the belts again. It was sooooo miserable. I live about three minutes away from my boyfriends house, but I slept there last night anyway because they have air conditioning. I work at a green-house, and some of the separate houses get up over a hundred degrees this time of year, but none of them were as hot as that bus. I would bet money on it having been about 115 degrees in there. Anyway, I don't think they will be using that company again...

Well, I have to work early tomorrow, so I'll talk to you all later. At least your trips sound like they went better than mine!

Imzadi> <<Its probably a lot of fun for you>>: Pretty much, though I won't know unless you tell me after the fact.
<<I saw a gathering attendee that looked remarkably like you>>: So I really do have an evil twin. This should be ineteresting.

Xanathar> <<it just sounded like a Lem-Sip drink>>: Eh, they're both citrus.

Cyborg> <<Please pardon the newbie question>>: Don't worry. I've know how to play long enough that I'm out of newbie stage, and my skills are probably still below scrub. Anyway, I just made that up.
<<what do you mean by <RW 1S>? Is it red/white first set?>>: Close, Red White first strike. Though I really should get around to moving in some direct damage.

Warpmind> <<it's gotta be something like ninety fahrenheit here!>>: So you're learning English measure now. Good.
<<you seem to be Jos>>: Don't tell him that. He seems to take offense at too many of his personalities being engineers.
<<wearing chainmail is a bit heavy, even if it's a lightweight metal>>: Which is why I've invented the Bergeron-Toriyama workout.

Lain> <<havent you ever read hitchhikers guide?>>: !@$#. Proof that it's been way too long since I last reread the trilogy.
<<none of YOU really exist either, did you know that?>>: Yup. Old news.
<<do you think hes a religious nutbar?>>: Not until he tries converting me.

SRS Jr.> <<It's like The Munsters meet Rainbow Brite, on acid!>>: Very much so. Oddly enough, I just saw the first episode today after leeching it sometime at Rutgers. And how does an invisible person blush?

Imzadi> <<see any comments he makes about his experiences with women>>: Theory, theory, theory.
<<Incest is best!>>: Keep it in the family.

Patrick Toman> <<I have it on good authority that Madame Destine WILL be submitting to the "Titania's Secret" issue of Avalon Mists>>: Can I say woot?

Daphne> <<I'll look for some gargoyles stuff. any suggestions?>>: I've heard there is a garg on a sign somewhere by JLA.

And you all want your free music. Well, you're getting Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding.

Na zdorov'ya.

Hi all. I just spent the whole day finding frames for all the artwork I aquired at the Gathering. I'm broke!
Jannie> I was there the whole weekend, sorry we didn't meet. Cute pictures by the way :)
Josh> Actually, I'm both. I was wearing the sparkle red dress at the banquet. I had my mom with me the rest of the time. How embarrassing! Am I known as the girl who had her mother with her?! *blushes* Well, she said I couldn't go to LA alone and I didn't want her sitting around in the hotel room the whole weekend, so I encouraged her to come with me. She went to a lot of Star Trek conventions when she was younger, so she had a really good time anyway. Sorry I missed you.

gathering>> sounds like a party I missed. i probably won't make it for a few years yet :( unless they decide to be nice to me and hold it in philadelphia... which probably won't happen. thannks to our unions (and I like unions, don't get me wrong), philadelphia is one of the worst places to hols a convention or huge event... just ask the jeopardy teen tournament people.

not too much else. going to Disnet world next week, and I'll look for some gargoyles stuff. any suggestions? anyone? come on, I know you have some...

Okay, so I actually got back late Tuesday night, but this is my first chance to post. So sue me. :P

First off, let me echo Xanathar's request ... haven't heard from you for a while, XenaTrek, come on in. :)

Second, anyone who still has the surveys that were available from the GMC2004 folks (myself included), go ahead and e-mail your replies to those to the staff e-mail (below). Thank you in advance, and thank you to those of you who *did* either leave the surveys or handed them to any of us.

Okay, let's make this brief, since everyone else has covered just about everything else. I know this Gathering is gonna be memorable for me for a good long while, not because I enjoyed myself immensely (which I did), and not because of the haul I wound up taking away from the auction (those scripts are definitely going to come in handy) ... but basically for being finally able to spend time with Ravyn *in person* as opposed to online. (Never mind that we roadtripped quite a long ways and had to get up at 3 in the morning on Tuesday to make the drive back to Phoenix in time for my flight. :)

Some of my memories I'm taking away ...

Jannie doing the spy thing and snapping pictures from across the room of us ... in a rather compromising position, I might add. (Okay, so ya got me back for the limbo bar. ;P)

Watching Crispin Freeman's eyes light up in the autograph line as I ACTUALLY brought him something "Slayers" related to sign! (my copy of TRY Volume 6 (dubbed), with a *very* nice shot of Zelgadis on the cover)

The aforementioned Crispin Freeman's session on mythology in animation, which was quite educational (not to mention interesting as he interspersed scenes from Gargoyles, Escaflowne, Evangelion, Record of Lodoss War and Utena into a scholarly discussion on the roles of archetypes in mythology.).

Getting my performing mojo on at the Masquerade and failing to resist the temptation of *karaoke.* (ASIDE: Whoever had the video camera filming me singing "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," I'm very interested in acquiring that piece of footage!! ;) It's been *years* since I've had a chance to perform, and I'd nearly forgotten the rush I used to get. :)

Seeing Denis and Jannie together. Call me sappy, but after last year's fiasco and meeting Denis, it was so nice to see you two together. **group hug**

Dancing with Ravyn at the Masquerade as "Asuka" sang "Fly Me to the Moon."

**sigh** Man, that was a fun time. :)

Anyway, two little tidbits about my life I discovered once I got home ... first being that our house got sold. (Yay.) The second being that I got my results back on my ASE certification test ... and I passed. (DOUBLE YAY, I GET TO WEAR THE "YOU CAN'T BULLS**T ME" PATCH!!)

Anyway, that's all for me tonight. **skips out**

Here are a few Gathering pictures that I have. I have one disk that is showing an error, so I can't retrieve those pictures at this time =(
I have worked on uploading the pictures for the past couple of days and I finally gave up on geoshities. I have placed them on a photo album program from MSN.... so they are not separated from CR dwellers and Mini Clan members - nor do they have captions. I will continue working on the geoshities site until I have it completed. Sort thru and enjoy! =) you beautiful people, you!

*Wakes up*

mrphgl. between the excitement and extreme dehydration (wich of you, does she even post here, was the one who clued me in on that? I didn't see her name badge...well, thank you again.) I managed to catch meself a cold, wich has slowed down my recovery time.
The Gatrhering was awesome! okay, so I spent most of my time following Mara and Aaron around like a little puppy (but they didn't mind, so it was cool,) and repeatedly "mugging" Thom Adcox (who also didn't mind, which is why I've decided that he is the coolest person I have Ever met. I mean, everyone knows how cool the character Lexington is, but you just don't know how cool Thom is unless you meet him. Is there nothing he won't go through for his fans?)...heh. Funny how these two activities so often occured at the same time. Other highlights... Getting to hang out with other cool peoples (Hudson, Winterwolf, Dreamie, to name only a few), MST-ing a couple garg episodes ("We scared the special guest, we scarded the special guest!")...getting to see the 3x3 Eyes dubs (which I bought, along with the script for the first two eps.) I had to spend what was The last physical dollar on my person to pick up my auction stuff (Hey, it was for charity, and I needed new sheets anyway. *whines* But...*I* wanted the big book! and stupid me, I forgot the name of the girl who DID buy it. Someones told me it was Sarah the Great...? is that right?) there was a bunch of other fun...getting to learn from Aaron and Revel the "insults" that Crispin and Thom kept exchanging that lead up to that first surprise-attack smooch, talking Fic with Aaron and Mara well into the night, up in the Roof Garden, only to have Greg and a bunch of guests show up..getting everyone of the gargs people to sign my shirt..the art show, the masquerade, the awards..and getting to talk to Zehra (sp?) on the plane ride part way home. That let the Gathering continue on just that much longer.
There were downsides too, like the cost of the food, and my being unable to eat, and somehow still throwing up in the mornings anyway...travel has never affected me like that before, so I guess it must have been some other influence.

Revel: thanks again for that painting. the eyes...they are watching me!

lain: Greeting to the great white north! I am glad to hear that you are having a good time.

Warpmind: ...*stares*...Why would you want ME up there?

Gunjack: as I am stuck away from my typed-up writings, would you do me the favor of forwarding my (2 or 3?) Finished Stories to Shinigami and Aaron?

Aaron and Shinigami: Hey, hope your trips home went well. I look forward to chatting with both of you. *hugs*

hey people, guess what *I* got in the mail today???? I GOT A CHEQUE!!!!! from my FATHER!!!! okay.. so he owes me 600$ and its only a cheque for 200$ but STILL.. i have $$$$$!!!! so whats this about me only complaining about my father?

juliaexia>> ***POUNCE!!!!!!!!*** GIRL!!!!! where have you BEEN!!!!!!?!???! how ARE you?!?!?! COME OVER HERE AND LET ME HUG YOU!!!!!!! : D : D
i dont have your address or phone number so i havent been able to contact you!!!!!!! i returned your fridge, though.. so THATS all good.. er.. um.. **HUUUUUUUG** MORE HUGS FOR EVERYONE!!!! : D : D : D!!!!!!
(feel better yet?)
; )

josh>> *strikes dramatic pose* what?!?! MEEEE???? dramaaaaaatic? you MUST be kidding.. and you COULDNT have found out my name from my email cos.. i use lain iwakura as my name on it so..... hmmmmmmmmmmm... i think you just made that one up..
and as for drama queen.. im sorry about that.. i dont really have much of a place to rant or too many other people to talk to (who might, you know, give half a sh!t) so i come here cos you guys are my friends and you offer good advice, which i appreciate more than i say, im sure. im sorry about that, too. i really DO appreciate all of you guys in here, thats why im HERE in the first place.
by the way, in that big yelling conversation i had where he told me never to see/talk to moochie again, i told him EXACTLY how i felt about moochie, and that i thought it was terribly unfair of him to ask me to decide between my only family that i have and moochie. he said that he wasnt trying to make me choose.. and i told him that i felt trapped and that he should stop because, even though he might not be trying to make me choose, thats what he is making me feel i have to do. i said i would think about what he mentioned but only if he would stop trying to trap me. he agreed. (whether or not this will actually result in a change in his attitude is ANYONES guess but.. at least he LISTENED to me for three seconds. im gonna call him tonight again and see how that goes. im calling collect, of course ; )
thank you again for your advice and your insight into my behaviour.

jannie>> my father really DOESNT understand that friendships can develop via the internet, and nor does he WANT to understand cos every time i suggest to him that he try it, he claims to not have the time or the interest or blah blah whatever. he is uncomfortable about gunjacks family because his mother is kinda psycho and has called me a few times when i was feeling down. he doesnt think it is appropriate for someone elses parents to be talking to HIS daughter, but on the other hand, he DID drive lynati and i to niagra falls when she visited, was THAT inapropriate? i dont know. but see what i mean about my father doing GOOD stuff? how many parents would do that? i dont know.. i have noticed, however, that he seems to enjoy throwing the nice things he has done back in my face like that.. gah..
he doesnt think gunjacks family is very "christian" because he feels they are trying to come between me and him. i dont think they are at all, however, im just stuck in the middle again.. : P
and i dunno about this whole "there is a GOD" business.. im just continuing to ponder.. and my bums gettin sore from all this fence-sittin.. ; )

azrael>> yeah yeah im more than 18. i will be 21 in.. oooo.. lessee here.. sometime less than a month at any rate. yeah, i know im just a big baby, you dont need to remind me, thanks. i know my dad wouldnt stop loving me, hed just have that "im sooooo disappointed in you" look every time i saw him or talked to him.. and THAT would really suck.. so i suppose i could just go off and be happy and eventually hed realize that was what he wanted all along and if im happy, he should just let me BE happy. i guess i have to prove somehow that i AM happy, and am not being manipulated by the evil southern christians and that if his worldview is so right after all then he doesnt need to feel threatened by some other world view thats so oooooobviously wrong.. (cos doncha know, your whole "GOD" thing is just a load of.. well.. )
; )
like i said, my bums gettin sore and i should get off the fence..
i will do what i feel is right. thank you.

*pokes warpmind in the ribs* wow.. my arms must be long to reach all the way to NORWAY.. ; )

love to all of you!

hmm.. all this gathering talk has made me REALLY WANT TO GO!!!!! i really hope ill be able to be there next year.. wherever it is held.. of course, if its at MY house then... : D aaaah... wishful thinking : )

Huzzah, I just might be getting non-safety matches today. I've ALWAYS wanted non-safety matches. Even since before I started smoking. (Not friction-related smoking, mind you...)
By the way, those of you who have clicked my link and seen the install.exe there - it's a cute screensaver. With a dragon. :D

Sorow: Aw, I missed you at The Gathering? Darn... Oh, well, try again next year...

Niamhgold: I only got two of the regular Gathering t-shirts. (Lovely map, by the way.)

Jannie: The accent is all about how I roll my r's. ];) Oh, and, uh... congrats, I guess, on the baby.

Josh: I'm not threatening you... yet. ];) As for an 800mm weapon... you have certainly NOT fired autos larger than that. The Gustav was the biggest cannon to ever be constructed, and the projectiles were 800mm across. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY you have fired autos that used more than 800mm ammunition. And I know what a Hoovaloo is, and I know now the reference to Moochie... and, since I'm considering to look him up later, I'll enjoy watching him squirm for it. ]:) Annoyance Factor deck... lemme guess, Black/Red combo with lots of cheapos, right? Lots of Ravenous Rats and other such minor annoyances? And chainmails aren't really that heavy when worn. I mean, you can turn somersaults in any kind of armor. Well, provided you're able to do them without the armor in the first place, of course...

Revel: No, the right flight. Though, it took some trickery with time and space to get cheap airfare... including spending one night at a seedy motel. (Where one of my neighbours actually offered me pot or cheap booze... I declined, though.)

Well, that about sums it up. Gotta run; my half-an-hour at the library is up. Later. Oh, and Lain IS cute... but I'd rather have Lynati here... :S

Ah, well everyone has posted that they enjoed the Gathering so I guess I should as well. It was a total blast and should all things be fortunate I would love to do it again. I am currently scanning pics, although not all of them came out well so that does cut some time at least.
My perception? I got a real kick out of the fact that some people actually talk and act exactly the seame why that they post, that was cool. I of course had fun just hanging out and talking with everyone and acting like a fool for example bowing at the feet of Greg Weisman as he tried to tour the art room, that was funny. And of course people saw me try and dance even though they probably wish they hadn't, oh well.
Warp-Canada? Did they stick you on the wrong flight? (just kidding)
Aaron- Well you should be the first to tell us, was the disc worth 200 big ones.
Josh- oh and just for the record, on your one Gathering report Greg and I did not go Neener neener neener, we we laughing maniacally like a couple of Dr. Evils.

I should have some pics up this weekend but this takes longer than a digital camera and I don't want to kill my scanner. Plus, people can look at my cheap site and read stuff and look at my art. GO THERE!

Hey, all!

Just a quick post from Mom's house -- we are still on vacation and won't be back in Seattle until the 2nd, so my essay and pics will have to wait until then. Went to Disneyland yesterday and are driving out into the high desert today to visit Dad (who had a great time at the con on Saturday, thanks everyone for making him feel welcome!).

This year's con was the best yet, with tons of fantastic guests and hardly any disasters. As always, I loved getting to see people in person and meet folks who've been names on a screen before now. I hope everyone who went had fun, and especially hope that all of you who bought books and took tapes enjoy them -- I really enjoyed having them there and getting to play the Black Roses demo for the crowd.

FYI, LOL, how many abbreviations can I use at once here? ; ) Anyway, after commissioning two elf-woman pics from David Wong, and having him bitch me out for them not being buxom, yes, I did it, I decided to make the man happy, he's drawing Godiva for me! Woo-hoo!

Also really wanted to thank all those who spent so much time playing with Becca. She had tons of fun in the dealers' room and likes being sort of the con's unofficial mascot. She got shy at the last minute and backed out of the Masquerade, but Greg (such a sweetie!) gave her the Junior Award for her kid-Elisa costume anyway.

Got to get going, so that's all for now, but I will be back on Monday and will look forward to being back in touch with all of you then!

Wow!,so many interesting Gathering stories, one of these days I hope I will have enough money to go myself.:).At work today the refit crew ripped out the stairs to the top level store room,so now I have this lovely big hole in the roof of my work-area.

Warpmind:<<Trenchcoat? *Kablink* Oh, my... a talented beholder, aren't you?>>It must be the double jointed eye-stalks! ;),Um I can't remember if Beholders have any tele-kenetic abbilites or spells(other than thier method of movement)it would certainly make putting a trench-coat on easier,I'm going to have to rummage around my room for the Monster manual again.

Niamhgold:<<Yay, someone else who works with PCs! I haven't touched a Mac since...gee, since I fooled around with the computer at Matt's house three years ago. I don't even _go_ into the Mac labs at school...>>Yeah I love PC! :),I've still got parts from my old computer from five years ago in the one I'm using now(an old Analog monitor being one of them)it just evolves a little bit every year :)(this weekend it's going to evolve into a PII 333 ;) )

Josh:<<I don't know about percentage comparisons, but it gets about 3-400 k/sec. A direct ethernet plug usually gets to 1.5 meg/sec between normal computers...but it has a wire 8-)>>It sounds great for a business file sharing network but for a LAN party, having wires everywhere is a small price to pay for next to no Lag and Lag is a real game killer(no lag at all if you can turn one of the PC's in the network into a dedicated server),ever played QuakeII over the internet with a 56k modem *shudders*:( (or maybe I'm just being spoiled for speed ;) )a Wireless network connection sounds great though! :)

Daphne:<<It's cool, and I really appreciate the effort. everyone's so nice here :)>>Anytime, take care of yourself. :)

I'm here. I'm back. I'm practically caught up on my sleep. I'm glad to see so many positive posts about the 2001 Gathering. It was an amazing exercise in logistics to pull off and I know that I couldn't have done the things I needed to get done with out help from so many of you.
To the rest of the con staff - love ya much!
Jannie - the auction. You were utterly indespensible. Thank you doesn't begin to cover.
To Hudson, and BrooklynX and Bud Clare and Sarah the Great and Billie and all the other folks who just pitched in - you are all awesome.
To Seth - Many thanks and all the best to you.
The convention itself is a mighty big blur. But never of the course of the weekend was it dull. My only regret was I didn't have time to do more than "say hey" to most people and some that I meant to I didn't even get to do that. So "Hey!"

Josh - the current staff has no say over badge design. You need to take all G2002 related comments and direct them to Siryn and the Virginia Beach Staff. They'll be easy to find. They're taking over our webspace in a few weeks. But you embarrassed to stare at people's chests?

Don't know what else to say, except - post more pics! We'll be doing the same - thanks to our unofficial official con photographer - but it's great to see all the different aspects of the convention from the goers pov.

Lain> Okay, I read Josh's post and I sincerely hope he's being mostly sarcastic and using hyperbole. But he does make a good point. You're 18, correct? <actually, just "at least 17" for the point I want to make> You are an adult, he really can't stop you from doing what you want to do. If he's met Gunjack, then he should have some concrete (if completely subjective and opinionated) reasons not to like him, not just "he's one of those guys." My parents used that excuse to get me not to go out with a girl once, I still wish I hadn't listened to them. There are two ways your father can deal with this, and you with him. Either he loves you, too, and nothing you do will make him stop, or he doesn't. If you love somebody, you don't stop just because the other doesn't listen to a piece of advice.

Now then, my advice to you: Do what you feel is right. Not "what you want." Not "what would make the fewest waves." What's right. But be prepared for whatever the consequences are (that whole, personal responsibility thing...) and except them when they come.

BTW: if he thinks Gunjack is overly religous, see if you can dig up the Theological debate we had when I first entered the CR and show him some of my posts. Then maybe he'll realize that Gunjack isn't quite as... um... intrusive? as I am.

Later.

Patrick: So, since the con staff is NOT dropping off of the face of the earth, could I get the financial records and info of the G2K+1?

Ya know...
Ammout of money required to get each guest to attend
Cost of the con rooms (Per day)
Cost of the con suite
Income vs Revenue (What the staff donated vs what the staff took in via registration fees and donations by non-staff members)
Total count of attendees
Total ammount of rooms used by gathering attendees at the main gathering hotel (And, if you have them, the alternate hotel)
Total number of actual con staffers
Total number of con volenteers
Number of paying attendees participating in the gathering dinner
Number of non-paying dinner guests
List of licenses and permits required by the state of California to allow the out-of-state vendors to sell their wares
Other non-listed operating and misc. expenses

So it is a big list! But this is info that future con-staffers need to know!

I'm writing this on the airplane and probably won't look at it again before sending it once I get back to my house, so apologies in advance if it rambles…

First things first… surprise, surprise, surprise… yes, the con staff DID survive the weekend. And despite rumors to the contrary started by Jamie at Opening Ceremonies, I have NOT flown off to Mexico with all the money. After all, the weather is much better this time of year in Paris. :P Also, I'm sure a few will be disappointed to hear that the G2001 con staff will NOT be dropping off the face of the earth now that the con is done like some has happened more than once in previous years. No… despite all the torture we've been through, we're still going to hang around (I guess we're just gluttons for punishment). And on a personal note, I'm looking forward to having FREE TIME again to work on other projects I've been neglecting (be warned, Christine, I have it on good authority that Madame Destine WILL be submitting to the "Titania's Secret" issue of Avalon Mists).

So even with the jet engines droning in my ear, it's nice to finally have a moment to sit down and not have a million and one things I need to get up and do. The past ten days flew by faster than any previous Gathering trip that I can remember. Actually, the past couple months have been full of so much nonstop work that just getting back to my real job tomorrow is going to seem like a relaxing change of pace. Granted, many of us on con staff still have some work to do to wrap things up and transfer things over to next year's crew, but what's left will seem easy after the frantic pace we'd become accustomed to.

Before I ramble about the weekend in general, I just want to thank a bunch of people. First, I need to thank my fellow con staffers for all their hard work. Jen, Kathy, Cindy, Meredith, Kenna, Christine and Tim - sincerely, I love you guys, and I can't thank you all enough. I know by the end we were all tired and seriously overstressed, but the important thing is we survived AND we're all still friends. And that means a lot to me after my previous experience with being on con staff for G99.

I think a few of our volunteers need special mention, too. Jordan Mann and Carol Wagner, who pretty much worked as staff alongside us the entire weekend. Jen's wonderful husband, Alan, who helped with TONS of the last-minute stuff and must have the patience of a saint to have put up with us. Scott Sakai and his crew, for supplying us with a kick-butt A/V system that totally blew everyone away and allowed the back row to finally SEE Greg's videos. I also thank all our other volunteers, as well, particularly Jannie and BrooklynX, who both helped me at various times to keep from losing my mind at registration, as well as Draconis, who pitched in at the auction. And speaking of the auction… Jamie Murray / Myhr was just the greatest, and I'm so glad we got the chance to have him come out. So a big, purring thank you to him, as well. And while I'm thanking people… Greg, I think we all agree that we couldn't have done this without you. Now just promise us that you'll never make us do this again. :P

So, the mushy stuff aside, I hope everyone who attended had a good time. I'm not going to be shy about saying that I think G2001 was the best, most rocking Gathering yet, and I hope many of you will agree. From my POV, it was certainly an eventful weekend. I'm having trouble collecting my thoughts right now on it all, but some of the memorable highlights for me were:

Plotting new fic ideas while walking up to Citywalk on Thursday evening.
Losing two hours of sleep on Thursday night playing amateur detective.
Pouncing Mara at the registration desk on Friday.
Thom presenting Lexy with the "Fan Guest of Honor" trophy we awarded her at Opening Ceremonies.
Aimee strolling about the lobby in her Kita costume on Saturday afternoon.
Seth strolling about the lobby in nothing but a bathrobe on Saturday afternoon.
Hearing Crispin Freeman's Bill Faggerbakke voice.
Checking out the view from the Rooftop Garden for the first time on Saturday night.
Watching Aaron and Mara spend money like their last names were Xanatos at the Charity Auction.
Crispin Freeman planting a big wet one on Thom Adcox at the Awards Banquet.
Seeing Cindy in her Titania costume.
Seeing Aaron as Fox (even though it dethroned me as holder of the Gorebash Award)
Going home with some cool Jamie Murray artwork.

There's a bunch of other stuff, too… my brain is just too scrambled right now. But we'll be updating the web site soon with the final attendance and charity auction statistics, along with tons of cool pictures taken by one of our attendees, Jerry Shaw. So to everyone who was there, thanks for attending, and to everyone who missed this year, pre-registration for G2002 in Virginia Beach, VA has already begun. :)

So did anyone get pics of me in costume? >:)

no time to fight with pictures and such. color will have to do.

Gside>> <an orgy of violence directed at national annoyances and real life threats. Ot just an expanded version of DC deaths. > cool. too bad I missed that chapter.

Josh>> <I don't think a street light is going to help.> this was the darkest spot on out street. plus there was no one at the bar, the church, or the half-dozen houses rented to college students. I want a street light. <...especially that tactile one.> really? Hadn't thought of that one.... :) <be sure you don't become paranoid> mike has two older brothers. he grew up paranoid.

Xanathar>> <So what I was basically trying to do was help you feel better after what has happened *hugs*,I'm sorry I didn't explain myself better> It's cool, and I really appreciate the effort. everyone's so nice here :)

Niamhgold>> <Albeit late, lemme extend my condolences on the robbery> thank you, very very much. better late than never, right?

Argh! A long day at the office wasn't enough! I gotta come home to the MacTank switchboard blowing up because PSInet is really going under. I'm gonna move 800 people to another network tonight...at 4 bucks a person...

Okay maybe argh isn't the right word. Maybe CHA-CHING is the right word ;-) In any case, I'll definitely earn my paycheck tonight.

I noticed at Gathering that Duncan was wearing a shirt that said "Real Coders Wear Black". The truth is that real coders don't need to wear shirts that say what real coders do.

I finished rotating all the gathering pics, even shrunk a few. Feel free to go check them out. The artwork I left as the original 1600x1200 size, so you guys can use it as background pics no matter how big your monitor is.

FS: <<Still alive and up at the ungoddly hour of 8:14am>>: I was up at 715 this morning...I'm up that early every time I go to work!

Xanathar: <<whats it's transfer rate compaired to a six socket>>: I don't know about percentage comparisons, but it gets about 3-400 k/sec. A direct ethernet plug usually gets to 1.5 meg/sec between normal computers...but it has a wire 8-)

Stephanie D: <<a rasberry is a whole lot faster to deliver than a paragraph>>: And far less interesting. <<I seem to get alot of those for some reason>>: Well, I'm not a sucker for a pretty smile or a pretty anything else. I just have a lot of cards to get rid of. I respond better to $$ than to "pretty". 8-)

Warpmind: <<Survived The Gathering - Check>>: Congrats! I lived too! And hey, you even lived through one of my restaurant choices! <<it's gotta be something like ninety fahrenheit here!>>: My guess would be about 98.6 F, despite being in Canada ;-) <<you *should* have asked for "Warpmind" at the hotel>>: I know. Now. I didn't then. <<and all is forgiven... this time>>: What is it with people in this CR threatening me!? <<a talented beholder, aren't you?>>: No kidding! Its not as if the beholder even has shoulders upon which to rest a trenchcoat. <<that was a highly experimental android I've been making>>: Well, someone had to make that android, and I highly suspect that the builder exists. <<800mm projectile>>: That'd be .8m, or 2.5 feet...bah. I've fired autos larger than that! <<but who was that twelve-year-old again?>>: That was someone I was referring to when I said "she's 12" and she heard me and said "I'm 18, thank you". She was pissed. Besides, I wasn't looking at her at all precisely BECAUSE I thought she was 12. <<you exaggerate everything there, right?>>: Ugh. Bad pun. That's one "g". <<she promised to explain it when we're no longer in the library>>: I'll explain it right here: its a hyperintelligent shade of blue. Why that would make Lain turn red is beyond my pitiful comprehension. <<you seem to be Josh... a bit too many "This is true">>: I LIKE that phrase. Plus I'm not as much of a nerd as Gside is: see any comments he makes about his experiences with women. <<I'll bring my Murdlerizator deck>>: I'll bring my Annoyance Factor deck (guess which color it is?) and beat the pants off both of you in three-way (why did that sound REALLY dirty?). <<Aaron is, in my book, the undisputed Badmutha of Auctions>>: I'd have to agree. <<that guy would be DANGEROUS with an unlimited credit card!>>: I think he had one. Or was that someone else? <<I kind of suspect I've made some enemies at The Gathering thanks to my puns>>: Doubtful. But I'm sure I found a way to make some enemies. <<And Myhr was wrong about the chain boxers>>: CHAFE! <<wearing chainmail is a bit heavy>>: Gee. Who'd have guessed that armor made of thousands of tiny metal rings would be heavy?

Lain: <<moochie was here and.. er.. caramel>>: PENALTY! Roughing the CR! 10 yards! <<i get to have LOTS of fun with the peach-fuzz>>: What kinds of fun can you have with peach fuzz? <<howzabout we have the gathering at MY house next year>>: Um...sure! <<need i say more?>>: Not to anyone who's read the book. Otherwise you might get blank stares. <<to receive a card with my REAL name printed on it>>: Just send an email that forces Lain to reply...that's how *I* found out your real name. <<i mean ALL AT ONCE and ALL TOGETHER>>: Talk about a brain overdose. <<im all warm and fuzzy inside>>: Too much info for me. <<maybe the payoff is comin in>>: If we're the payoff, your childhood must not have been as crappy as you thought. <<father>>: Lain, you have two choices. Either deal with your father conclusively or stop posting about him. Its getting a little drama-queen-ish for you to always post about the horrible thing your father did this week and then refuse to confront him at all. <<im really, honestly, confused>>: Tell your father that you will NOT respect his wishes in this matter. He's taken all his stuff back, what more can he do? <<ive never EVER trusted ANYONE like that>>: Ah, a woman after my own heart 8-) <<no pressure for sex at all>>: Doesn't sound very intimate to me. <<my dad loves me, i know he does>>: Spoken like a woman who gets beaten by her husband. <<hes given me so much in my life>>: HAH. Who are you kidding?! <<i want to please my father>>: Incest is best! <<youre blaming MOOCHIE for everything>>: Have been for weeks. Where were you? <<HE DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!>>: Doesn't matter, we blame him anyway. <<hes not here to defend himself>>: Why do you think we blame everything on him?

DPH: <<he help files for Windows were NOT written by the same guys who wrote windows>>: The guys who wrote windows couldn't write a grammatically coherent help file to save what's left of their souls. <<help on 'memory allocation'>>: No one who knows what memory allocation is actually uses help files. Thank the lord for Mac OS X, with its dynamic memory allocation. <<ALl the help I got was for the energy saving features>>: A good way to clear RAM is to frequently reboot your machine ;-)

Niamhgold: <<Thom's drop-the-pants stickup>>: I'd not use "stickup" to describe what happened. It just sounds bad. <<I am really super planning on going next year>>: Hope to see you there. <<when I do commissions, I usually work on a "half up front, half after delivery">>: Thankfully for me, half of nothin' is nothin' ;-) <<I've told her I won't give up the rights to them>>: If I were an artist I'd always retain full ownership of the pictures. But that's just me. <<If anyone has any opinions/tips>>: Buy low, sell high. Oh, that's not what you wanted a tip about, is it? <<for someone who couldn't go, they were very thoughtful>>: I know this is gonna shock you, but that wasn't my intention. I'm glad, however, that you enjoyed them. <<you and Dreamie and Winterwolf all hung out>>: They're cool. And before this weekend, I was under the impression that YOU were winterwolf's main squeeze...pay no attention to me, I'm blind. <<you're sure to be included in his annual Gathering essay>>: SWEEET! <<e-mailing me back about the icons and my world map>>: Yeah...about that...I didn't buy either of your pictures. I just couldn't afford it. Maybe next year, when I'm not trying to buy three macintoshes in a single summer (they don't get their reputation for being expensive for nothing). As for the icons, I love 'em! Can't wait to see more. <<perhaps soon we'll have the entire Wurzel family represented in this room>>: Don't bet on it. My brother, likely, and my mother possibly, though not if she gets a job. And my dad...never. He's way to busy and has another very important hobby. <<someone else who works with PCs!>>: To my knowledge, only Daniel Johnson and I work with macs, though quite frankly I don't understand why. Every self-respecting artist I know uses a mac, along with 90% of the writers I know...except in here. Oh wait, I just answered my own question. None of the artists in here have any self respect. They need to be coddled and told that their work is brilliant. You should have seen me trying to compliment artists at Gathering: "your stuff is amazing" "no its not, I wish I could be more like artist X" Then artist X comes along and says "no, I don't like my stuff, its awful, I wish I could be more like you" GAG. <<I haven't touched a Mac since..>>: A lot has changed since then, believe it or not. <<I don't even _go_ into the Mac labs at school>>: So you don't have your eyes assualted by rows of neon-colored gumdrop iMacs!? The torture!! ;-)

Jannie: <<when people insulted me>>: Huh? <<I needed to do some changes in my life>>: Me too. Namely, I need to find funds to go next year ;-) <<I would NEVER live there>>: I will ALWAYS live here. <<but it was the rude drivers!>>: You wouldn't last five minutes in the Bay Area, dear. <<Iím also much too fat to live in LA>>: How did you come to that conclusion? <<salt seemed to be non-existent>>: Just gotta look in the right places. <<itís all relevant>>: No, but its all relative. <<for that girl that Aaron ran up the bid on>>: What about the other 25 people he ran the bid up on? <<you donít intentionally run up bids like that>>: Yeah, whatever. NO MERCY! Besides, the less money your opponent has, the less they'll be able to bid on something that you REALLY want. <<or would have given him a run for his money>>: He had plenty to run with. <<including the bubble bath>>: Do you smell like Keith David yet? <<maturity level of a 15 year old>>: That's okay, I look like a 15 year old and I have the maturity level of a 6 year old! ;-) <<Iím going to be a grandmother>>: I'd offer congrats, but from what I understand they're not in order. <<you will actually see the ìlightî and decided that there really is a God>>: Spoken like a true sheep. <<I would love to have his phone number>>: Might as well just post it in the CR and we can ping flood him! <<not arrogant, but intelligent>>: As opposed to josh, who's the other way around! <<I vote you two as the cutest couple>>: I vote Mara and Aaron, but only when dressed as Xanatos and Fox ;-) <<even though you didnít acknowledge my existence at first>>: I probably had no idea who you were at first. I'm not in the habit of ignoring people (or laughing maniacally in the dark...no wait that one I do). <<I really did feel out of place>>: I think its safe to say that the number of Grandma's at Gathering was pretty small compared to the number of gen-X'ers, which might explain that. <<I totally understand it and caught all of the wiseass cracks that you made>>: I knew that someday, someone would. <<I call it like I see it>>: So do I, yet for some reason other people see it differently.

Sorow: There seemed to be two of you. I saw one girl in a red sparkle dress, but I saw another girl who's name tag also said "Sorow" who was with her mom. Which one are you?

Anyway, as a closing thought, I'd like to say this: The gathering was a huge success this year, but only because it was in LA. Most of the guests already live here, and it couldn't have taken much coaxing for them to come, especially the Disney people. Hell, Disney IS here. The guests, in turn, drew the fans. I don't expect there to be more pre-registrations next year than there were con-goers this year (a trend which has continued through this gathering), nor do I expect as many guests next year. I'm hoping that eventually we'll all figure out that LA is the perfect place to have Gathering (aside from staying at the Sheraton). Of course, the fact that I live here is shading my opinion slightly (and it would save me MEGABUCKS if I never had to fly to Gathering)...but I think my logic is pretty tight on this one. Note that location and guests are NOT the reasons I'm trying to go next year. I made some great friends, and I'm going to see them, guests and seminars be damned. Not that it wouldn't be nice for my home city to host Gathering every year...

Sometimes, I picture a world of peace and happiness, where strife is unknown and guile is unneeded. And then I think how easy it'd be to attack 'em, cause they'd never see it coming..."

Greetings all...

Sounds like the Gathering was fun to be had by all... can't wait to hear more reports on it. ^_^

Works been a bit of a hell, since I've been on 8-to-5 hours all week... can't wait for my days off! Been a bit more than so because they've got me in the grill to learn how to do the stations there, as part of my Area Manager requisites.

The things I'll do for a pay raise...

Anyway, I also talked to my girlfriend's mother today - Heather, if you'll recall, is in Gatlinberg taking a 5-week ceramics course - and she said Heather is fine. She's just spending every night until MIDNIGHT in the pottery lab, taking advantage of the lab time... She said Heather made nearly FOURTY pots in one night! <shakes head> Anyway, it's good to hear she's alright and getting the most out of this experience... Good news is she's going to come home a week from this saturday! <dances with joy!> I can't wait!

For you anime fans, a little something I saw over the last Tampa Bay Anime club meeting: a series called "Tenchi no Morumon"... very cute! Also very strange visually! As one member of the club commented:

"It's like The Munsters meet Rainbow Brite, on acid!"

Check it out! Very good... very Paruparuuu! ^_^

That's all from me for now... Maintain and Check Six!

Well, I’m still trying to catch up on my rest, but when I lay down, my mind won’t rest. I keep replaying different parts of the Gathering. I miss everyone too!

I had a great time at the Gathering. There were a few times I wanted to crawl into a hole or immediately leave the premises (when people insulted me) but overall, I’m glad that I attended. Not only did I need the time away to just have some fun, but it also showed me that I needed to do some changes in my life.

Los Angeles… well, what can I say? I would NEVER live there. Sure, there are a lot of things to do and see – but I’ll gladly read about it in a book/magazine or watch it on TV. Houston rush hour traffic is a charm compared to LA traffic. I’m no whimp when it comes to city/highway traffic driving, but geesh almighty! The traffic itself wasn’t too much but it was the rude drivers! (however, not all of the drivers were rude) Too many people in one city. It was exhausting just driving back and forth to the con hotel and “sightseeing” was a real hassle. Still, it was worth all of it : )
I’m also much too fat to live in LA – geesh! Plus, I prefer having salt on my food and I drink Dr. Pepper. It was difficult finding DP in the shops and salt seemed to be non-existent. Salt is not unhealthy for you, folks – unless you have medical problems with it.

Sorrow> I missed seeing you completely!! =( Were you there the whole weekend?

Josh> autographs and the value of items…. Actually, it’s all relevant. It depends on who is collecting the memorabilia. For collectors, it IS more valuable to have something like a script or poster autographed. Sure, someone who has never seen or heard of Greg W. or Thom wouldn’t give a rat’s putoot about something autographed by them…. But a fan of Gargoyles would pay extra for it. Same with any other fan –club type situation. Or even with a particular author – people that love that author would pay more for an autographed book.
The auction was fun, but sitting where I was – a bit hectic! I did feel sorry for that girl that Aaron ran up the bid on, though. While it’s a lot of fun and there are no friends at an auction, you don’t intentionally run up bids like that against someone who probably struggled financially to be able to come and just wanted something from the auction. I didn’t find humor in that particular bidding war. Now, if he had done that against someone who was known to have afforded the “battle” – then it would have been funny. I wasn’t in the mood to get into bidding battles with him, or would have given him a run for his money ; ) Anyway, I got some nifty things that I’m pleased with – including the bubble bath. Hehe I like the container!

The costume masquerade was entertaining and I have a few pictures of various costumes. I have accepted Greg’s challenge for being funnier next year and if I attend, the costume/character that I will do will promise to bring a few laughs!

I have at least 100 pictures of various people/activities at the Gathering and as soon as Geoshities straightens up, I will upload them for your viewing pleasure. I have them saved and ready – just waiting on the crappy webhost thingy to accept them.

We did not attend the banquet and instead found a short cut down the hill (via elevator) to the Subway shop where I enjoyed supper with Josh, Oracle, Lex, and Madison
(some Mini Clanners) Some guy who claims to be the boyfriend of a clanner but we believe HE is the clanner… was also with us. I was insulted on the way back, but by that time I was getting used to it. Nothing like being told that you have the maturity level of a 15 year old and then your age is guessed at much older than you really are…. Especially when you are my age. *sias *

My girls, Juanita and Glory (the dogs) were glad to see me pick them up from being boarded. I wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt to pick them up in – they scratch the devil out of me when they are excited. Of course, Juanita is now giving me the cold shoulder but yet won’t let me out of her sight…. *chuckles *

Well… I found out a couple of days before the Gathering that I’m going to be a grandmother. Just as Anna was getting her life back in order, one last “behavior” caught up with her and the baby is due the first part of February. It’s early in the game, so there will be many decisions made and many decisions changed by then. At this time, I will be adopting the baby to raise. She realizes that she is in no position to raise a child on her own and was looking at the adoption option. I personally cannot stand the thought of having a grandchild adopted out and not knowing where he/she is, what they are doing, how they are, etc. Contrary to some people belief’s – I’m not _that_ old and am able and capable of raising a child again. I’ve done the math… when the baby is 10, I’ll be ___, when the child is 20, I’ll be _____ , etc. It’s certainly not something that I would have chosen to do – but it’s been dealt to us and now we’ll cross each bridge as we come to it. At least this time around I’m a lot more financially able to handle the cost of raising a child. In some ways, I’m excited about it and in other ways, I am not looking forward to this. I guess in time, that will all pass and I will just be excited.
We’ve already been discussing names for the baby! *chuckles * Steven Zachary if it’s a boy and Janna Marie or Katherine Marie for a girl. (call her Katie) The boy’s name will not change, but the girl’s name may change many times before one is decided.
I guess instead of decorating a guest bedroom, I will be doing a nursery instead. I’m thinking a baby forest animals theme would be cute… =) I already have plenty of foxes to decorate the room with! *L *

Lain> while it’s important to listen to your father on many occasions, it’s also important for you to make some of your own decisions. It’s not as if Gunjack is some type of street gang punk and your dad is trying to protect you – he just doesn’t know or understand the friendships that can develop via the internet. I was once the same way – until I became involved on the net myself. As far as him not wanting you to be around “Christians”… It sounds as if he is very insecure of his own beliefs and is afraid that you will actually see the “light” and decided that there really is a God.
Maybe if you just didn’t mention Gunjack around your dad? At least not for now. Let the idea of it soak in to him and later on if you mention Gunjack again, hopefully your dad will realize that it’s not just a fly-by-night situation. If your dad forces the issue of making you decide between the two of them, then I would love to have his phone number.

It was wonderful meeting so many of the CR dwellers! I saw some of you at the ’99 Gathering, but didn’t *know * you at the time. I wish that I could have spent more time visiting with some of you.
Taleweaver, you are such a gentle soul! I’m blessed to have met you.
Todd, it was great finally meeting you! I enjoyed your comments/knowledge/insight on various scenes in the sessions.
Daniel Johnson, you are a cutie! I hope that you enjoyed your time away from “reality”!
Warp, nice accent… wish I had an accent too ; ) nice bald head, too… that I don’t wish for, though! *L *
Aaron, you crack me up.
Mara, you have a beautiful smile that always made me smile when I saw you.
Greg, you are very handsome! You also have an intelligent air about you that was pleasant to be around….. not arrogant, but intelligent.
Coyote and Ravyn, I’m soooo glad that I got to spend some time visiting with ya’ll. I vote you two as the cutest couple =)
Naimgold, even though I didn’t meet you – your art work was breathtaking and especially the world map. Wow!
Revel, it was a pleasure meeting you…you are very interesting to chat with.
Katara, thanks for making me feel welcomed and not so out of place. I enjoyed standing in line with you while waiting for the autographs. =)
Jennifer, thanks!!!! *hugs * You did a fabulous job and you make me laugh! You are a hoot!
Kathy, outstanding job with the volunteer organization! No matter how frazzled you were, you always had a smile for everyone.
Patrick, very smooth check in and even though you had a hard time turning the registration desk over to me, I appreciate the confidence that you finally did show when you left me alone there and attended a session. ; ) I never knew that you were so quiet and shy!!
Winterwolf and Dreamie, thank you for also making me feel welcomed! I was always glad to see each of you when we would run into each other. I wish we could have spent more time together.
Josh, thank you! *big smile * even though you didn’t acknowledge my existence at first ; ) I enjoyed going to eat with you and I would have loved hanging out more with ya’ll – but I really did feel out of place. (age difference that some people seem to make an issue over) You’re a great guy and I love your sense of humor. I totally understand it and caught all of the wiseass cracks that you made ; )
Oh, and I didn’t lie about my appearance, did I? I call it like I see it (in the mirror).

I apologize for anyone that I’ve missed that I met… my brain is still not functioning on all cylinders.

Time to go to my mom’s… she’s cooked homemade chicken and dumplings for supper! Yum!

** Niamhgold enters **

Hey, all, how's it going? It seems that all those who attended the Gathering had a smash up time (would've liked to see Thom's drop-the-pants stickup), and I am really super planning on going next year, since it'll be a four hour drive from my school, yay! As for work, things are going better than they did on Monday...didn't lose any clients over the phone problem and that just is such a relief!

However, there is some bad news...apparently, a Japanese exchange student who was swimming in the lake w/ his friends (18 yrs old, I think) drowned :( It's horrible; he didn't tell anyone he couldn't swim, but thought it would be easy enough to learn, so when he jumped off the dock he apparently got a mouthful of water, panicked, and everyone just thought he was "splashing around." It's horrible! First, it's kinda stupid that not *one* of the people at the beach didn't realize he was in trouble, and, secondly, you've also got to feel *bad* for some of those people because now they have to live with the guilt of not realizing it fast enough.
It's very sad, because this kid was a good guy; he'd defended my brother on numerous occasions from the school bullies, and my bro is heartbroken about this whole thing (thankfully, he wasn't one of the onlookers, he had to work yesterday). I don't think anyone will be going to the lake for a while. But the worst thing is that he was due to fly back to his home in Japan tomorrow, and now his parents are going to get a letter about his death instead :(

In other news, I have a bit of a dilemma...when I do commissions, I usually work on a "half up front, half after delivery" system, which has always worked for me regardless of my clent's location. However, I sent out my commission to one lady in Jersey about a month ago (I had already received her up front payment beforehand); but, although she said she sent _two_ checks (she canceled one after the first one "never reached me"), I still have received nothing. I know she would not have written the address wrong because the first payment came perfectly on-time, and I've had her repeat my address to me over the phone. And I not only went to _my_ post office and inquired, but I called _her_ post office, as well. Plus, she "said" she sent it certified mail last WEdnesday...now, don't you think it would have gotten here at LEAST by Saturday? ** Sigh ** I've dealt with this kind of person before, through work, but now that it's a personal problem, I don't know exactly what I should do...I just thank my stars that I kept those pics scanned in my computer, and I've told her I won't give up the rights to them until I receive my second check. If anyone has any opinions/tips, feel free to do so...

On to replies and a more optimistic attitude! :)

Josh: Thanks for the constant Gathering updates; for someone who couldn't go, they were very thoughtful :) Also glad to see that you and Dreamie and Winterwolf all hung out and chilled, as you're sure to be included in his annual Gathering essay :) Also, thanks for not only the digital pics, but for e-mailing me back about the icons and my world map. Yes, you can expect the weird sister icons to all be in different poses (at least, I hope I'll be able to do that;)) :D <buddy-buddy with my little bro> Hehe, perhaps soon we'll have the entire Wurzel family represented in this room ;)

SOROW: Thank you very much ** blushes ** Everyone's been so good with keeping me up-to-date on the stuff I can't attend! :)

Winterwolf & Dreamie: If you two are reading this, hope you had a blast at the gathering, and am looking forward to pics and that essay! Huggles to you both!

Xanathar: Yay, someone else who works with PCs! I haven't touched a Mac since...gee, since I fooled around with the computer at Matt's house three years ago. I don't even _go_ into the Mac labs at school...

Warpmind: <Survived the Gathering> Hey, you got any T-shirts for that? ;)

Daphne: Albeit late, lemme extend my condolences on the robbery...it's always rough the first time that kind of thing happens to a person; my friend Thryn felt out of control. I guess the really good thing is that you were with somebody, which allows you to work out any uncomfortability with each other. **Hugs**, and I'm glad you're both all right!

Well, that's about all the time for today...it's nice and hot and in the 90s, so I'm gonna enjoy it and run through the sprinklers! :)

Adios :)

HI ALL! First, I want to thank all the great friends I met at the Gathering: Winterwolf, Dreamie, Mecord, Coyote, Rayvn, Lexy, and Kaioto. For Warp and Aaron, I was able to catch a glimpse of you but could never make it over. I'm sorry we couldn't have been introduced. You may have seen me in my sparkle red dress at the banquet? And to anyone else there who I missed entirely, I'm very sorry to not have met you. I can safely say we all had a blast!
Niamhgold> You're world map was awesome! Great job!
Jaden> Hi hon. It's good to be back!

Proof the help files for Windows were NOT written by the same guys who wrote windows:
1)I tried searching (Windows:ME) for help on 'memory allocation'. No such animal
2)I tried using help to find out about 'memory management'. ALl the help I got was for the energy saving features.

Can anyone tell me how to allocate more memory to DOS-based programs? It's for an experiment I want to try for enhancing a program's performance.

More post in around 10-12 hours.

yo comment room people.. howza going?

yeah yeah ive been.. er.. busy... you see well moochie was here and.. er.. caramel and.. er.. heh..

now warps is here and i get to have LOTS of fun with the peach-fuzz thats growing on the top of his head.. hee hee : D (he hasnt shaved his head for a few days.. tee hee)
i was thinking, though.. with all the CR people who have come to visit me, and the others that are planning to come.. howzabout we have the gathering at MY house next year, huh?? ; )

GREEN BARON!!!!!!!!!!!!!>> i posty-posted a letter to you the other day.. i hope you get it soon : D

gside>>was it you who asked? havent you ever read hitchhikers guide? a hoovaloo is a super intelligent shade of the colour blue.... need i say more? ; )

DPH>> no, in fact lain is not my name.. though feel free to call me that all you want ; ) as lynati said, lain is from an anime series called "Serial Experiments: Lain" which i am currently getting warps addicted to : D its really cool. (IMO) i sent tapes of it to green baron and gunjack awhile ago. GB was slightly freaked but liked it, and gunjacks mind exploded. (I TOLD him not to watch it all at once but did he listen????? nooooo.....) to receive a card with my REAL name printed on it, please send a stamped, self-addressed envolope and a cheque for 30$ to the address on your scr.. heh.. okay, can you blame me? im broke.. its worth a TRY ; )

well it seems like everyone had fin at the gathering, im really glad and i hope ill get to go one of these years. it would be really cool to meet all of you people.. *looks across the table to warps* er.. i mean ALL AT ONCE and ALL TOGETHER.. darn! i feel so GOSHDARNED POPULAR!!!!! : D i really DO.. im all warm and fuzzy inside, i tells ya.. what the HECK did i do to deserve really cool people coming to see me????????? i musta done something REEEEEAAAAAL good in a pas.. no.. well they always said that the rest of my life had better be good to make up for my crappy childhood so maybe the payoff is comin in : D

in other crappy news, my father got back from his business trip to the states and we had a nice argument. i told him about gunjack coming and how i really had a lot of fun and how i felt (blah blah insert sappy/mushy comment of choice) and he decided he was (after a little calm, reasonable coaxing) going to tell me the TRUTH, which was that i am not supposed to see and/or talk to gunjack again, because i am paying him too much attention (so sayeth dad) and that i should start going out and dating "real" people. cos gunjack is just someone i conjured out of thin air, doncha know.. he doesnt REALLY exist.. oh.. and BTW, none of YOU really exist either, did you know that???? sorry to say.. ive been talking to a bunch of non-existent beings inhabiting cyberspace all this time.. funny i never noticed..
so now that ive got all that bitterness and sarcasm juice out of my system (for the moment).. what am i supposed to do? i mean.. im really, honestly, confused. : (
cos see.. i really REALLY like that guy, you know? i trust him absolutely. and ive never EVER trusted ANYONE like that. we can talk about ANYTHING.. he knows all my bad secrets that i havent told anyone, and i know his.. we are mor intimate than i would have though possible for anyone.. and no pressure for sex at all. i am physically, mentally and spiritually comfortable with him - and i never EVER thought i would have that. and then of course, on the other side, i have my family. and my father is my ONLY family. he says gunjack is one of "those" guys. you know, the religious nutbars? (do you think hes a religious nutbar?) and he thinks ill get totally sucked into this religious thing and, because of it (and you KNOW the views those southern christians have about WOMEN and a WOMANS PLACE in the house and society *tisk tisk*) and blah blah hes just a sheep and has shallow right-wing political views... (no wait.. i think i AGREE with my father on that one... ; )) and my dad loves me, i know he does. and i DO love and respect him. sure he can be a jerk (in the BAD kind of jerky way) sometimes but other times... i dont know. hes given me so much in my life.. and much as he ticks me off, i think hes only trying to do what he thinks is best for me.

so on the one hand, i want to please my father, because hes my father and i love and respect him, and he has been so much a part of my life and has given me so much.. and on the other hand, i have moochie, who i love and respect and who is a part of my life and who has given and has the potential to continue giving so much to my life. and i want to give back.. but i dont want to have to choose.. its like im stuck in the middle and i HATE it. its driving me NUTS! i DONT want to never talk to my dad again, or face the disapproval dripping from his voice whenever he talks to me.. and i DONT want to have to never see moochie again.. i dont know i dont know im confuuuuuuuuuuuuuuused!!!!!!!!! WHY CANT THEY ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!!!!!!
: (

*hugs a tree*... *feels better cos it was a ginkgo tree and they are cool*

*sighs sadly in the general direction of small summer camps which are located in new york*

ah.. well thats the first rant about that subject. sorry for putting you through that..

oh.. and warpmind.. do i HAVE to double up on the death threats?? if you keep making puns like that i really WILL have to hurt you, you know... just for the sake of my own sanity....... and HEY!!!!!! youre blaming MOOCHIE for everything now??????? POOR MOOCHIE!!!!!! THATS NOT FAIR AT ALL!!!!!!! HE DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!!!!!!!.. oh no wait.. that kind of resembles MY track record of blaming moochie for everything... well in light of THAT.. please feel free to continue.. hes not here to defend himself, tee hee : D

oh well.. love to you all in the meantime,

: D

*Warpmind enters, looking somewhat gloomy yet cheerful.*
Lessee... Survived The Gathering - Check.
Survived a visit to Lain... Let me get back to you on that. (Oh, hey, Moochie! Your girlfriend is HOT! I mean, it's gotta be something like ninety fahrenheit here!)

Josh: You know, you *should* have asked for "Warpmind" at the hotel... Revel's fault, but we've all agreed to blame Moochie nonetheless. And she did arrive anyway, and she found me, and all is forgiven... this time.

Xanathar: Trenchcoat? *Kablink* Oh, my... a talented beholder, aren't you?

Josh: You strongly suspect I really exist? Well, truth to be told, that was a highly experimental android I've been making in my basement that attended the Gathering. Present readouts indicate that I equipped it with too many punnish responses. Anyone interested can ask Aaron about the Voice Actors/Voice Directors thing... *Evil snicker*

Fire Storm: Actually, I don't want a 50mm weapon... I want a Gustav, so I can fire any door-to-door salesmen with it. (It's a cannon. Biggest ever made. 800mm projectile...)

Josh: You may say Dreamie's jailbait... but who was that twelve-year-old again? ];)

Green Baron: You're at Fort Bragg? Hmmm... let me guess... you exaggerate everything there, right?

Moochie: Dude, Lain DID blush a little when I just confronted about the Hoovaloo thing... and she promised to explain it when we're no longer in the library...

Gside: Actually, judging by speech patterns, you seem to be Josh... a bit too many "This is true" comments to be mere coincidence...

Cyborg: I play Magic occasionally... Hey, if we both get to G'02, I'll bring my Murdlerizator deck, and we can wage war on one another! ]:)

Lynati: Glad you got home in one piece, and... *Sniffle* I'll get back to you later, hmm?

By the way, Aaron is, in my book, the undisputed Badmutha of Auctions. I mean, first he pushed the bids WAY up, and when it was down to him and one other guy, he walks over from afar (he couldn't even see what he was bidding on 'cause he was off for autographs at that moment), takes a look at the item on the block, and says "I don't want that!". That was after he'd actually increased the bids by, what, fifty bucks or so? I'm telling you, that guy would be DANGEROUS with an unlimited credit card! Anyway, I kind of suspect I've made some enemies at The Gathering thanks to my puns... But it doesn't matter, 'cause now I have the Magelore Trilogy signed, and I even got the GURPS Villains book signed by Christine Morgan! So NYAAAAH NYAAAH, Moochie! ];) (Oh, and for anyone interested, wearing chainmail is a bit heavy, even if it's a lightweight metal. BUT, it's not as heavy as carrying it around. Trust me. And Myhr was wrong about the chain boxers. Don't ask.)

Well, that's about it. Later, gang. *Looks around at the surrounding library shelves.* I think I should go book something, maybe... Or would that be shelfish of me?

David G. <Verge of Death> Is 'Death' the name of an element of the local landscape (a river, or montange, or gorge, etc.) or is it the name of a town? Is 'Death Town' bordered on one side by 'Verge of Death' and on the other by 'Near Death'?

Gside: Thanks for the link, it looks promising. Please pardon the newbie question, but what do you mean by <RW 1S>? Is it red/white first set?

Imzadi: <don't need to get too offended> O.K. <your response wasn't too swift> It was very swift, a rasberry is a whole lot faster to deliver than a paragraph- long rebuttle. Also I had mentioned that I was going for speed and not intelligence.
Thanks for the card offer. I seem to get alot of those for some reason, and this time I did not even have to smile pretty and bat my baby browns ;)

Hi all!!
I'm in a pretty good mood today :),Construction workers have started pulling down the shop where I work, for re-fit,and just watching them pull the walls down and tearing out fittings of the shop somehow brings a small smile of satisfaction to my face, this work place has a lot of memories for me(a lot of them are painful)

Daphne:<<i'm a little confused. before my time, I guess. Appreciate the offer, though. unfortuantely, these guys probably won't be caught :(>>Gside pretty much hit the nail on the head with his explanation, the Joyride was an RP in which Pistoff,Wilek,Warpmind,Greenbaron(and Rev Attila)and myself would drive around in a suped up hearse called the Cthulu and kill off annoying celebrities and people who have caused pain to a fellow CR member(to help them feel a little better),we would do requests as well and it became rather popular(or infamous depending on your point of view,it sparked a few arquements sometimes. :( ).So what I was basically trying to do was help you feel better after what has happened *hugs*,I'm sorry I didn't explain myself better.

Josh:<<Like the one about Crispy kissing Thom...someone who was there will have to tell that one, as I opted out of the dinner.>>Sounds interesting! :)<<No, its an artificial orange juice substitute.>>Oh ok,it just sounded like a Lem-Sip drink, thanks. :)<<Probably because you're not a mac user. Airport is the wireless internet technology by Apple, and base stations are the little UFO thingies that plug directly into the wall so you can walk around with your laptop. Pretty sweet stuff...great for LAN (or WAN, as it were) parties.>>Sounds sweet :),This may sound like a stupid question but whats it's transfer rate compaired to a six socket network hub with direct cable?.(I'm sorry but I'm out of touch with Mac's,the last Mac I used was a "classic",when I went to school.)

Gotta go,take care everyone.

Goody goody! I've uploaded about half of my gathering pics. Click my name or go to www.kicktothenuts.com/gathering

Not much doing at work today, though I did get a lot done with the computer systems...boy would I like to shoot the last guy who had my job...

I ordered my bro's iMac today. It was a steal, IMNSHO. It was just under a grand, and its a 400 MHz G3 with a 10 gig HD and 192 MB of RAM. Not phenomenal, but it comes with free lifetime tech support as long as its owned by a member of my family, free training, takes up half the space of his current setup, and still beats the pants off my laptop (until I order a new one...). It comes with a free MP3 player, and a full rebate for the printer I ordered with it. So total it will be about $910. I'm contributing the lion's share, just under half. The rest comes from my brother's money that he's allowed to spend from his barmitzvah, some from my best friend (his present to my little bro), and a little bit from my parents. I'm really thrilled that we're gonna finally have SOMETHING in common, and hopefully he'll think fondly of me every time he sits down to his machine. And soon enough, he'll be posting here...

I've uploaded and rotated all of my pics, so you can check them out by clicking on my name. If you see one that you really like and the image isn't large enough for you, I can send you the original 1600x1200 pixel image. But they should all be there, including a few really cute/funny ones.

Watched "Vows" with my mom today. Unlike other cartoons, Gargoyles really isn't a show you can pick up in the middle. I think she was kind of lost. But she said she loved the animation and the time travel stuff. I tried to explain during the commercials what was going on with the various relationships (why Goliath was at Xanatos' wedding sometimes escapes even me), but its just not the same as watching the show from the beginning. Maybe we'll watch a few more eps together and she'll start to pick it up. I know she'd get a kick of it, because all my favorite parts of Gargoyles are interests I inherited from her: mythology, time travel, magic.

My mom said she wanted me to extend a hello/welcome/whatever to the four CR members that were at my house, and she was so surprised that I trusted HER enough to not embarass me in front of my friends. I, on the other hand, was shocked that she was okay with me bringing people to the house that I barely knew. Anyway, she really liked you guys.

In other news, my parents will be out of town on Thursday and Friday, so anyone who wants to drop by: drop me an email and let me know.

Aaron: My dad had this to say about your tatoo when I showed him the picture: "at least its centered." Don't ask me.

Xanathar: <<there are always so many interesting stories>>: Like the one about Crispy kissing Thom...someone who was there will have to tell that one, as I opted out of the dinner. <<is SunnyD anything like a warm lemon drink?>>: No, its an artificial orange juice substitute. <<suddenly got a mental image of Airfields with legs playing leapfrog>>: Probably because you're not a mac user. Airport is the wireless internet technology by Apple, and base stations are the little UFO thingies that plug directly into the wall so you can walk around with your laptop. Pretty sweet stuff...great for LAN (or WAN, as it were) parties.

Greg X: <<a lot of what I'm going to say has already been said>>: Say it anyway!

Beth: <<No one around me seems to be interested in where I say I want to go to college>>: The sad truth is that the list of people who know what's best for you usually doesn't include "Beth H". Its a list of the people who've been there, done that. People are just hoping that you'll learn from their mistakes or successes. Sucks, but that's how life is.

Daphne: I don't think a street light is going to help. As for the senses, they do come in handy...especially that tactile one. ;-) <<well lit places>>: Just be sure you don't become paranoid. Its a fine line to tread, but often times people let fear get the best of them.

Jannie: <<zhit, it zhitted on me>>: Hey, I know that line!

Gside: <<as long as we refrain from posting any examples>>: That still doesn't tell me how he'll respond to "its japanese for 'man my @$$ is sore!'" <<All depends which side you're taking as a point of reference>>: This is true. Its probably a lot of fun for you. <<Then which Gathering attendee was I?>>: Actually, I saw a gathering attendee that looked remarkably like you...but I didn't bother to get his name. <<I am increadibly cheap>>: So is beer.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

<<When he asks what yaoi is, don't tell him>>: I thnk it's safe as long as we refrain from posting any examples.
<<Fun? Doubtful>>: All depends which side you're taking as a point of reference.
<<Also doubtful>>: Then which Gathering attendee was I?
<<Five bucks and/or a beer...>>: The problem with that is that I am increadibly cheap.

Daphne> <<i'm a little confused. before my time, I guess>>: Yup. Imagine an orgy of violence directed at national annoyances and real life threats. Ot just an expanded version of DC deaths.

I'm happily home - after a grueling day of doing the "airport scene". I missed my connecting flight in Dallas and had to wait for 2 more flights before I could get back the the Fayetteville, Ark airport - where I had an hour's drive home. geesh, I hate flying.

I'll give a few comments on my prospective and activities at the Gathering sometime tomorrow.. right now all I can think about is sleeping.

I do want to say a huge thank you to the Gathering Staff for making it an extremely wonderful weekend =)

Special thanks to all who said (or thought) nice things to me after hearing about the robbery. everyone's ok, but shaken up... considering it was right near my house. My mom has been going to community meetings lately... she's going to request they put a streetlight on that part of the block.

Gside>> <Good luck not having to deal with being robbed again. > Thanks. I may well need it.
>
DPH>> <Those robbers need to pay (in least in the RP). > oh, I am enjoying this. excellent idea. remind me if Daphne ever makes it to the BFTS universe.

Josh>> <I seriously think my senses were improved by 20% after my similar incident. > hmmm..... that could prove useful.... I'll mention that to mike :)

Well, I'm back from the Gathering. I had a great time, made quite a few new friends... they know who they are ;). Met many people behind the series etc, etc.

First of all, a big applause to Jennifer L Anderson, Patrick Toman, Kathy Pogge and everyone else who worked their butts off all weekend to make sure we had a good time. ::Applause::

Sorry, but a lot of what I'm going to say has already been said.

The auction was fun, I walked away with a print of a production model of the Eyrie Building, the script for "The Journey" and the script for the Radio Play's "Hunter's Moon Part 3"... yes Aaron I will send you a Transcript of it... that was a little in-joke right there. He and everyone else at the auction knows what I'm talking about. I never thought saying "no" even in jest would cost me an extra $15 ;)

I have to get going right now, but I'll definetly have more to say later.

Hi all!!

Things have been pretty quiet in here today it would seem,I'm really looking forward to when everybody gets back from the Gathering! :)(there are always so many interesting stories)

Spacebabie:Hey,long time no see! :),How have you been since I left six months ago?.I'm sorry to hear that you have the flu,get well soon.(BTW is SunnyD anything like a warm lemon drink?,just curious.)

Lady Mystic:Thanks bunches for all the work that you and Fire Storm are doing here, the place looks so much better than when I left, all those months back.

Daphne:I'm sure the other Joyriders would agree that back I'm the days of you Joyride RP,we would have happily impaled those muggers on the hood ornament of the Cthulu(or something even more nasty >;) ) for you if it would make you feel better!:)

Josh:<<Depends on the Beholder.>>True but the Beholder that my netname relates to doesn't have eye-stalks that long.<<If I were a beholder it wouldn't really be an option, would it? Now the question becomes: how the hell do you use scissors?>>Hense the problems associated with getting Beholders into trench-coats :)(although mabye if it was a tailor "made to fit" job....)<<Piggybacking airport base stations!>>Why have I suddenly got a mental image of Airfields with legs playing leapfrog,in my head! ;)

I've gotta go,take care everyone!

::enters, moping::

It's all over! NOOOOOOOOO! I have to say, the past four days were probably the highlight of my entire summer. Never have I had so much fun with people I barely knew. I made some great friends in Greg X, Revel, Mara, Aaron, Dreamie, and Winterwolf, and met a whole bunch of people, and even (according to Jannie) picked up a fan club.

I have only ONE complaint about the ENTIRE gathering! Yes, just one. And its something that can easily be fixed and would cost NOTHING to fix! The name tags! Most of us meet over the internet, and few have any idea what the other people look like. The name tags should have our Internet handle/callsign/nickname in LARGE letters at the TOP of the badge, with the real name in smaller letters underneath, with the picture/artwork taking up the bottom. In other words, reverse the ratio of name space to art space on the badge. I should be able to see someone's nickname on their badge from more than 2 feet away. It was a little awkward feeling like I was staring at everyone's chest to see their name. "I'm reading your badge, really!"

Gathering staff? What do you guys think about that?

I got to gathering late today, as I really didn't care much about the lectures that were happening. I picked up the artwork I bid on and watched the closing ceremonies, which was basically a brief thank-you by Greg Weisman.

After that six of us (me, aaron, mara, dreamie, winter, and warpy) piled into Wolf's rented convertible and went for lunch at a chinese restaurant my family likes. Everyone was happy, which is good because i'd have been really embarassed if they relied on me to be their guide and disappointed them. After lunch we drove back to the con hotel and dropped off Warpy so he could catch a shuttle. Then we left again to find a movie theater...the first one wasn't playing the movie we wanted to see, so we headed to my house and hung out for a while until about 7, when Evolution was playing at a nearby theater.

During the interim at my house, Aaron and crew (esp. aaron) became very buddy-buddy with my little bro. The six of us (including my little bro) were talking up a storm in the kitchen. How we managed to keep it at his level is amazing to me, considering the collection of gutterminds present. He'll start posting in here soon, as soon as I set up his new machine. He's very excited. Now, keep in mind, he's 13, so try to stay PG-13 with him 8-). When he asks what yaoi is, don't tell him 8-).

Seeing as I was a total 5th wheel (literally, as I was with 2 couples), I selected a theater with massive love-seat style stadium seating for my friends. The armrests move back, big comfy chairs, you get the idea. After the movie, I insisted that they drop me off and head back to the con hotel before I got violently ill. Being a confirmed bachelor for life definitely has its advantages, but there's always that yucky feeling I get when I see sappiness among couples.

So that pretty much concluded my gathering experience. It was a blast, and as of today I'm actually considering GOING to Virgina, if I can pull it off (doubtful, but who knows!?).

To Revel, Mara, Aaron, Dreamie, Winterwolf, Jannie, and GXB: You guys made my gathering infinitely valuable, and its an experience I'll treasure forever. If any of you are in my neck of the woods (although I'd not call either of the concrete jungles I inhabit "the woods"), look me up: you've got a place to stay. ::fake sobs:: I love you guys ;-). Oh, and I'd really like at least one of you guys to post your view of events today, as I'd like to see it from the tourists point of view. 8-)

Sadly, the people I went to the movie with know where I live and they've seen where I sleep (good luck finding your way back, though. Buwahahaha!). Now I'll have to kill them. ;-)

Enough with my own sappiness, on to the responses!

Xanathar: <<the eye-stalks arn't long enough>>: Depends on the Beholder. <<would you cut a 375 dollar cow-hide black leather trench-coat?>>: If I were a beholder it wouldn't really be an option, would it? Now the question becomes: how the hell do you use scissors? <<MMmmm! LAN extenders!>>: Piggybacking airport base stations!

Stephanie: I play magic. Dunno where you can do it online though. If you want cards, buzz me cuz I've got a lot to sell. Oh, and you really don't need to get too offended by what I have to say about you. Reading through my previous posts, I don't see where I called you "stupid". Perhaps you mean that I said your response wasn't too swift, but that's a far cry from calling you stupid.

Aaron: My brother thought you were the coolest guy! If you're on AOL or AOL IM, send a message to Oakley Posterboy so we can chat.

Beth: <<Why does it feel like EVERYONE has a problem with where I want to go to school!?>>: Again, calm down. I don't have a problem with it. I'm just offering an alternative. The Japanese seemed to be pretty important to you. Excuse me for living (but don't expect me to stop doing it!). <<grumbles foreign profanity>>: Scheiss.

David G: Feel better. That speed, man, that stuff clears you right up!

Daphne: <<mugging>>: I'm sorry. Happened to me about 6 years ago. It takes a long time to recover from that sort of thing, but at least you'll be a lot more aware from now on. I seriously think my senses were improved by 20% after my similar incident.

Niamhgold: <<job troubles>>: Argh! I hate when the internet connection goes. I always feel so out of touch.

Gside: <<with her porn star body>>: Mmmmm....porn stars... <<It's both safe and fun, I'm telling you>>: Safe, perhaps, as you've no diseases. Fun? Doubtful. <<So you're saying I'm another aspect of you?>>: Also doubtful. If I had split personalities, there's no way ANOTHER one of them would be an engineer. <<too miniscule to be properly calculated>>: I disagree. Five bucks and/or a beer... <<random destruction is a close enough approximation to blowing things up>>: NO! It's not close enough. Fire! Fire! <<Wait, didn't a car blow up?>>: ::thinking::. No idea. <<I think you've proven that well enough>>: Sadly, yes.

Lynati: Glad you got home safely.

DPH: <<that prevents me from pulling some short term tricks on people>>: Um...okay. <<I could post 12 hours a part and sleep between posts?>>: I *could* do that...I'd just get fired 8-)

If Steve [Jobs] put poop on a stick and called it an ergonomic computer control device, Bill [Gates] would have Windows users handling crap all day long.

Hmm. Good news on my front. I volunteered to become moderator of a yahoo group a while back. Well, under my leadership, the total number of messages posted this month is greater than 3 times the previous record for total number of messages posted in a month. Also, the total number of messages posted this month is greater than the total number of messages posted in the previous 6 months.

6 more days in the anniversary of the BFTS RP egroup/yahoo group.

Daphne - Hmm. Those robbers need to pay (in least in the RP).

If 1+1=-3 is the norm around here, then 1+1=2 is acceptable, right? Remember this room is full of non-conformists.

David G - This CR just wouldn't be the same without you because I wouldn't have someone around who could outhink me or keep me on my toes. Get well soon or ELSE.

Imzadi - Why is it bad that everyone has seen Daniel J before seeing me? One reason: that prevents me from pulling some short term tricks on people.

Green Baron - Hmm. I have an idea. I have two kittens who don't like me for no apparant reason and you could use a replacement for Rev Attilla . . .

In other news, I've almost saved up enough me for a downpayment of $2000 on a used car, the only problem I have is job security. Yes, I'll full-time, but all the same, things aren't quite as busy as I would prefer. Only 2 areas are doing overtime and several others aren't exactly super busy.

Don't you guys just love the fact that I could post 12 hours a part and sleep between posts?

<<How do I know that's YOUR family!?>>: You don't. Any more than you know I am actually the person who was issued the email address I am using.
<<he doesn't have a computer here>>: So you're saying I'm another aspect of you?
<<And you forget: this is a post, not a video deposition>>: True, but I still believe the chances of convincing an actual female to post such a thing are too miniscule to be properly calculated.

***** TGS CR ARCHIVE UPDATE *****

The CR Archive had been updated!

Three files have been added to the database.

Two new weeks were added: dates 6/9/2001 to 6/16/2001 and dates 6/16/2001 to 6/23/2001.

I found an incomplete week on my computer for dates that were previously considered missing. Thus dates 5/20/2001 to 5/27/2001 (missing) have now been replaced with dates 5/20/2001 to 5/24/2001 (incomplete). It's not a lot but it's better than nothing.

Enjoy!

** Niamhgold enters **

Well, I guess this is why I'm getting paid as much as I do. The owners of our business are out of town for the week, so I'm put in charge, and Friday and Saturday go well. Nice. Smooth.

Enter Monday, mean, nasty growling Lunes. I've got a jones for a trip to the beach after work, so I come in with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. And everything goes nicely, smoothly--until about 11.

The phones *and* internet line go completely and utterly dead. No communication with the outside world, and what a coincidence; it's the one day I decided to let my brother borrow my cell phone. I had a list of 13 clients that needed to be called back by three; however, because the Verizon guy didn't show up when he said he would (2:00), that didn't happen. So, I'm gonna have a sheetload of angry clients manana when I go back in.

They never _did_ tell me what the base problem with the phones was. I don't care, as long as it never happens again. It's times like this when I realize how utterly dependent I am on technology. (Of course, having the phones is a heck of a lot better than having to make calls by constantly running across the street to the 7-eleven. They now know me by name). But the clincher is going to be that wonderful moment when I finally get ahold of my boss and tell her why there's going to be 13 angry clients on Wednesday... :(

On a lighter note...um, straining for one here...

Hehe, guess I'll have to get back to y'all on that one ;)

Adios!

hey, what do you know. I'm back.

Not too much going on. well... ok, that's not quite true.

let's see... last nite was my graduation party. my weird (rl) friends got to meet each other. let's see... crystal's parents are @$$holes, brian was ecstatic because he was allowed to tkae potato salad home, jack runs a make-beleive mob at school and left the party to stalk a girl who lives in my neighborhood, taking john and my brother with him. Katy was only there 20 minutes. kelly and rahat insisted they are not a couple, although it's obvious to everyone else they are. Guy is back together with is ex-girlfriend (last time it only lasted a week. this time it's been 2 weeks, but he claims it's probably because she's been out of town and hasn't gotten a chance to dump him). mike enjoyed the food so much he's coming over to dinner in about a half hour to help eat the leftovers.

so the party was good (if strangely populated). it was after tha party that was trouble.

mike drove me home, and we helped my parents and brother unload stuff from the cars. we sat around and tlked til about midnight, then I walked mike to his car about a block down the street. these two guys come up and rob us. they have some kind of weapon. we give them all we have on us (not much) and my watch and breath mints. they tell us to give them the rest, ask us if we see the gun they have. I'm scared they won't believe that was it. they argue over whether they should take mike's keys, then they don't. they give us my watch (a $10 piece of junk) then tell us to walk up the hill and not say a word. we run to my house and call the cops.

so that was my evening. other than working at Target for the summer, that's all that's going on.

DPH>> I'm ready to work on the rp whenever.

God bless!

Thanks, ya'll.

I'm not actually in all that bad of shape. A few years back I had a cold develop into bronchitis because I didn't have insurance, and therefore didn't go to the doctor. Now I have a flare-up every couple of years. It's no big deal, just highly unpleasant.

I'm supposed to go to the doctor tomorrow some time. It usually takes about a week for the antibiotics to clear out my throat. Some industrial strength decongestants will get me functional in a couple of days. (The first time I had it the doctor gave me these two blue and yellow pills, and said that was all I could have - ever. Man, those things worked. Of course the pills were about half decongestant and half street-grade Speed)

Hi all!!

It sounds like it's been a really great Gathering this year :).
I had a pretty good weekend, sorry about disapearing for the past couple of days but my PC's have been in pieces since Friday(although I was able to use a friends briefly on Saturday.),I went to see Tomb Raider, which quite frankly sucked!IMHO.(execpt for the bungee rope sequence, that was cool.))

Josh:<<Ditto. But if, hypothetically, I did, then playing games would be the first thing I'd do.>>Do you want to know something weird,my friends sometimes play better stoned than they do sober! :o (doesn't mean they win tho'. ;) ) <<Just put eye-stalks through the sleves.>>Nah,the eye-stalks arn't long enough to go completely through the sleeves(judging from the pictures of the beholders that I've seen anyway.) and cutting the coat is out of the question.(would you cut a 375 dollar cow-hide black leather trench-coat?)

Fire Storm:<<Which reminds me... I am starting to totally customize my case. So far I have just started drilling ventalation holes, but I hope to finish by powder coating the case in a cool metalic scheme.>> That sounds cool! :),I had a problem for a while with my Voodoo 3 card, for some reason it's heat-sink wasn't able to handle it's workload and would overheat(locking up the PC whenever I used a game that required a Voodoo 3),instead of buying a fan to put on the heat-sink I got my hands on a small room fan and opened the side of the case so that the air would get in(I was in a weird mood at the time but it actually worked),but after this weekend I don't have to worry about it anymore because I bought some parts off of a friends PC,most notably his Atholon 800 proccessor and motherboard as well as his case and Monitor(the dual fans on the proccessor keep the Voodoo 3 cool as well,Bonus! :) )<<Satelite based LAN extenders! OH! OR a shortwave wireless LAN extender!>>*drools* MMmmm! LAN extenders!

David G:<<Bronchitis (sp?) sucks>>Get well soon.

****Gathering Report****

So much went on today. There was a big Q&A with some of the voice talent, including Goliath, Brooklyn/Owen/Magus, Lex, Obsidiana, and Hyena (i'm using character names instead of real names b/c quite frankly I don't care and most people won't recognize the names). There was an auction of garg stuff, one cell went for $420, and some artists bible went for $300. I was part of a pool on a Carl Johnson Garg Music CD that went for $200.

Anyone interested in borrowing money: talk to Aaron. I swear, that guy has more money than god. I watched him outbid people just for fun.

A bunch of original artwork was displayed, I took pictures and they will be available for download as soon as I get them off my camera and onto the internet.

Saved $53 by walking down the road to Subway instead of staying for the Banquet. I'm told all I missed was Crispin (sp?) kissing Thom Adcox.

The costume contest was...interesting. My personal favorite was Aaron and Shinigami, who dressed up as Fox and David, RESPECTIVELY. They won the Gorebash cross-dressing award. Best couple award went to Thom and Crispin. Dreamie and Winterwolf did this cute commando thing where they hijacked Thom and demanded his boxers, leading Thom to drop his pants in the middle of the dance floor. Thom dropped trou again while dancing later. Greg Weissman made numerous comments about "any excuse to take your pants off, huh Thom!?"

I didn't get anything signed because, quite frankly, the only stuff that goes up in value when signed is sports memorabilia. I mean, who outside the fandom knows who Greg Weissman is?!

I got some great pictures of CR members and other stuff, also to be posted soon.

****END GATHERING REPORT****

DPH: <<Is the CR safe when DPH is in a good mood?>>: Yes, but its not safe when 1 + 1 does not equal -3! <<everyone will know what Daniel Johnson looks like>>: Why is that bad?

Beth: <<It's are a sink-or-swim enviroment>>: That's a vicious rumor. Its only that way if you make it that way. My roommate and I are both in extremely competitive engineering majors...or at least they are for everyone else. We don't stress and we don't do battle, and we're doing just fine.

Moochie: <<I just got back from visiting Lain for a week>>: Bow chicka bow bow...

Ordell: <<I am *so* going to the Gathering next year>>: Sadly, I will not see you there.

FS: <<You are JUST discovering this?!?>>: Yeah. <<Puberty is only a point upgrade (1.0 to 1.5)>>: Or 1.0 to 1.01 for some people... <<the THIRD house has been standing fine!>>: Exactly. <<Unless you like that sort of thing>>: I don't. Don't know anyone who does. <<He-Man singing 'Sweet Transvestite?'>>: ::shudder:: <<I am looking forward to getting my ass kicked in a LAN game!>>: Come over anytime! <<Maybe I can walk on water>>: Jesus-a! <<Mech Engineers>>: The only mechE that I know is Ravyn, and she's here. <<Is that outside of Pittsburg?>>: I think its in Montana.

Me: DirecTV MAY have UPN, depending on the area. Its not in my area, either. ::sigh:: Now I'll have to buy lots of movie channels!

Mordred: <<Will there be more stories here in the future?>>: Probably not.

Gside: <<Just finger me>>: Thanks for the invitation, but I'll pass. <<double check that there is a Garside family>>: How do I know that's YOUR family!? <<So who am I? Warpmind?>>: No, he doesn't have a computer here. <<not only am I CompSci, I am also an engineer>>: And you forget: this is a post, not a video deposition. <<If it requires any thinking, they win>>: Unless its engineering testosterone... <<Eh, that's pretty much ptional>>: Not for my purposes. <<As always, I blame the puritans>>: Blame Moochie! <<Though things blowing up are also nice>>: Sadly, no fire-ball style explosions. <<Surprisinly large>>: Thanks! <<Hold on, I don't have an ego>>: You're not gonna make a very good engineer, then. <<You forget to whom you are talking>>: Posting here is like taping a "kick me" sign to your back, isn't it? <<Wait, you're not going to get it>>: No, he'll get a battery. <<Don't listen to Imzadi when he tells you ther won't be>>: Silence, fool! Do not doubt me, mortal!

Well folks, that's all for tonight. See you tomorrow!

Imzadi> <<The following people MAY exist: SJ, Robby, Gside>>: It should be fairly easy to confirm the identity of a person with the email address I use. Just finger me, plug the resulting name into the people search off the Rutgers main site, and stalk me with the address given. Or look up Garsides in a Monmouth phone book to double check that there is a Garside family living there.
<<I suspect that they aren't at Gathering because they really are someone else who's already there>>: So who am I? Warpmind?
<<I'm sure some girl will post it willingly>>: But you forget, not only am I CompSci, I am also an engineer.
<<If not, you can always go "Doug Elder" on us>>: That's what I was leaning towards. Just pop into ARC long enough for a short post.
<<Its illegal to drive with a cell phone in your hand in CA>>: I think Mrlboro passed a law like that. But then, they do house the nut house.
<<LOL>>: I'm not completely sure whether the wipers are the trigger for lawful lights, or just rain.
<<Beats estrogen 9 times out of 10. Or is it the other way around?>>: Depends on what the contest is. Anything brute force, we win. If it requires any thinking, they win.

Fire Storm> <<magine how different the shouw would have been if he turned into SHE-man!>>: If they haven't already made a hentai out of that premise, I shall be very disappointed.
<<Now, if I could only find her head>>: Eh, that's pretty much ptional.
<<And suddenly that stuff is taboo>>: As always, I blame the puritans.
<<And thats the most important part of the movie, isn't it?>>: Yea verily. Though things blowing up are also nice.

Niamhgold> <<how does the male portion of the fandom size up?>>: Surprisinly large. No, wait, that's just me. Uh, my ego. Hold on, I don't have an ego.
<<um, er, forget that last innuendo..>>: You forget to whom you are talking.

Lain> Allright, what's up with Hoovaloo?

David G.> Heal quickly.

Fire Storm> <<But the THIRD house has been standing fine!>>: The third one durned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. An' that's what your gonna get, lad -- the strongest castle in these islands. Wait, you're not going to get it.

Oh yeah, Fire Storm, Lady Mystic, CtB,Niamhgold, and anyone else between NJ, NH, and IL> Can you think of any good places to stop at along the way?

Mordred> Eventually. Don't listen to Imzadi when he tells you ther won't be. It'll jsut take some time.

And in honor of the Green Baron's appearance, the new mp3 is The City of New Orleans by Arlo Guthrie. Which really has nothing to do with New Orleans. I think it's more located in the midwest.

Greetings all... just getting used to the old comp having Win98 on it (finally made the switch). Had to reinstall a new ICQ, but my nimbers still the same so if anyone has me on their ICQ list, just send me a blip for reauthorization, please.

SJ - In all truth - and I mean that - there are times when what you post in here does amuse me. Though sometimes it's hard to laugh when a lot of the stuff seems like a lot of verbal jabs, stabs, and sucker-punches against anyone and everyone (you discriminate against no one, literally). Again, I do laugh at some of it, but it's the stuff that seems very caustic or goes against what I have as core values or beliefs that doesn't make me laugh... in fact, some of the remarks/posts sometimes make me feel like the first thing I'd do if I ever met you was punch you square in the face.

However, I'm not the sort of person that resorts to letting my fists express how I feel about someone... nor am I prone to violence as a rule.

Suffice to say, I want to go on record by saying I don't hate you SJ, nor do I have anything against you (so people can't say I want you to leave here...lord, we've had too many people leave!) I just feel certain things shouldn't be joked about (a person's health, death, relationships, etc. for a few), but I do find some of what you say funny.

I'm just not usually vocal about it.

What I mean to say is this: I have nothing against you personally, and hope that you have nothing against me... far as I know, we're two guys that have our own opinions on things. And that's okay. Okay?

That's all from me for now... Maintain and Check Six!

Firestorm - Dish Network *does* have UPN. That's why I got it in the first place. Well, I got it for the WB, and then we got a local affiliate and two days later I found out Buffy and Roswell were both moving, so I have to keep it. I think it's called the Superstations pack. It's something like $5 a month for three WB feeds and two UPNs...

"Me" - DirecTV doesn't have crap. I actually had it thinking that I could watch WB on WGN (this was years ago) and then they stopped doing that. If you're looking to get a dish for WB or UPN, get Dish Network...

Jaden: <So how is everyone doing? We're getting rained on over here, which is much better than the heat believe me>
Weather is fine. My car sucks, but the weather is fine.

Ordell: <Now if *we* could get a UPN affiliate instead of me having to pay for a satelitte dish.>
I wish Dishnetwork CARRIED a chanell that had UPN on it so I could cancel my cable! (Broadcast reception SUCKS in my house.)

Avalon Mists- Great issue, can't wait for the next one.

Sorow- Welcome back, sorry it took me so long to say it.

Well that's all I have (I know short).

I am *so* going to the Gathering next year. Just time constraints this year. I'm never going to take summers sessions again.

On another note, here's some good news for some Buffy and/or Roswell fans who were afraid they wouldn't get to see the shows anymore. TV Insite reports that Time Warner cable in Austin has reached an agreement with the UPN affiliate in the Fredericksburg/San Antonio area to begin carrying the station starting in August. Reuters reports that UPN has signed an agreement with WHSL (currently
a home shopping channel) in St. Louis, and they will carry the full UPN lineup by early 2003.

That's only two years, Todd. At least maybe you'll get to see the show again some time.

I thought that was interesting, either way... Now if *we* could get a UPN affiliate instead of me having to pay for a satelitte dish.

Not much time! I guess most of ya are gone to the Gathering, eh? Well, have fun, you lucky punkers... I just got back from visiting Lain for a week (mmmmm, caramel!), and now I'm off to council at camp for the rest of the summer. I'll see y'all again as soon as I get my dorm connection set up at college. Until then, have fun and play safe, or something! ; )
Oh yeah, and ask Lain about the tagline if ya wanna see her blush...

Hello all. Good news. I graduated AIT on Friday. I am now a full-fledged Finance Corps soldier. Thursday I leave to Ft Benning for Airborne training.

Jaden> I had Basic at Ft Sill and AIT at Ft Jackson. AIT is better, but I did not like FTX.

Sevarius, Jr> That is vinatge you and thanks for at leats acknowledging I once existed. I'll be back as a regualr in only a few more weeks. Next Gathering, I'll be a little different. I've lost a lot of weight and belly since I left and I am a lot stronger than I used to be. I hope W keeps raising my pay, too, though I'd ratehr recive my pay in allowances which are tax free :) Hey, I'm now a full-fledged part of the US ARMY Finance Corps. Maybe I can improve my pay on my own :)

GXB> Yep, I remember you. Soon, we shall hear stories of Todd Jensen at the Gathering and his true name being Kosh.

Dreamie> McVeigh's caused a stir at Ft. Jackson, because someone with his mindset could have attacked Ft. Jackson, a military post that also get sa lot of visits from political bigshots, like Laura Bush recently stopping by when I started AIT. Worse yet, people like McVeigh can get free training from our military. I'm glad no one has tried a similar attack.

Warpmind and Firestorm, along with Wilek> I'm alive and well, and I'll be joining you back here in a few week's time. I'll be stationed at Ft Bragg, NC two weeks after Airborne, but I go back to do HRAP in New Orleans and lie to prospective soldiers along with my recruit :)

Now, onward to bette rthinsg as my internet time runs out.

Hmm... Just short of being lucky # 13. Figures. Dropping a line here in hope of getting back in contact with the heads of TGS. Computer problems and other things have kept me out of the loop for probably too long, but have to try.

How can I not be here and still get #11!?

Another great day at the Gathering.

Lets see, what'd I do today. Well I went to a bunch of different seminars about writing, storyboarding, etc. Saw the radio play, which was SOOOO funny. Greg revealed that the second episode after "The Journey" was to be a 22-minute porn scene between Goliath and Elisa. Spent some time watching "Best of Gargoyles", and a bunch of time in the art room hanging out with other TGS CR members.

A special apology to Jannie and Denis, who I left out of my list of people I met yesterday (aka the list of people I strongly suspect exist).

Oh, and I've confirmed the existence of Todd Jensen. Although he doesn't APPEAR to be a cat, his conversational skills make me wonder if he's a cat in a human costume.

Spent a large chunk of the day in just blabbing with Warpy, Aaron, Mara, Lynati, Dreamie, and Winterwolf (who, in case you haven't figured out, is Dreamie's other half - I think), Revel, and GXB. Its a lot of fun hanging out with CR people, as we all know a bit about each other's history and personalities, its not at all like meeting completely new people.

I'm finding out that I've pissed off a lot of people unintentionally. I mean, it probably seemed provoking, but since I don't remember doing it, I obviously wasn't being malicious. I remember that kind of stuff. So that said, an apology to Jennifer Anderson (sp?). Its quite interesting being introduced to someone and having them say "can I kick your ass now?"

Oh and for all who care: Dreamie is jailbait (at least in THIS state). If Winterwolf doesn't already know this, he soon will...

Stephanie: <<Thanks for the Gathering update>>: My pleasure, and my job, since I'm one of the few people there with a computer. <<I have not seen any cannon examples of it>>: We also haven't seen any canon examples of Brooklyn getting the girl, but we know it does happen eventually. <<this will be better: Bthththp!>>: Oh yeah. That was MUCH better than an intelligent response. BTW, its hard to make an intelligent response when you can't spell "intelligently" correctly.

Beth: <<very few good schools have my major and are colleges I can afford to go to>>: The UC's are cheap. One of them has your major. And a japanese class. Its all about priorities.

FS: <<version 2.0 is in development>>: And puberty is the upgrade process from 1.0 to 2.0 ;-) <<THEN I will base my designs on the two failures>>: Fine. Then I bet the third will fail too. <<Having to make a core dump right in the middle of initiating the finger protocol.>>: It'd be worse if it happened before the mount protocol. <<make that work towards your advantage!>>: I do, believe me. <<if he turned into SHE-man!>>: It would have been an RHPS convention. <<A 5000 mile range extender? Isn't that the internet?>>: Internet requires wires ;-) <<I really gotta make it to A lan party some day>>: More fun than you can shake a really big joystick at. <<They say the best things in life are fee>>: LOL. <<Any sign of Todd Jensen yet?>>: Yes. He's not really Greg Weissman. <<Who -u|grep?>>: grep/brains/you ::blank prompt:: <<if I could only find her head>>: Great, a THINKING robot. I thought we decided this wasn't going to part of the ALD! <<that little puddle called the Pacific>>: Put on your rain boots and walk through it like a man! <<And thats the most important part of the movie, isn't it?>>: Yes. <<I personally think it is external silicone padding>>: And you'd be correct.

DPH: Don't worry, no one is claiming to be you.

Niamhgold: First, I want you to know that I'm probably going to walk away with your world map drawing. Either that or your sisters. I need to bring home some artwork from the con, and quite frankly yours is the best there, even if it is the most expensive (well, not quite, but close). <<how does the male portion of the fandom size up?>>: We could be worse. We could be trekkers... The female portion of the fandom, however, is seriously lacking. <<I'm not good at digital media at all>>: You and Dreamie. You both have these inferiority complexes. Get over them. They're very unbecoming. When I build a model, I finish it and say "There. No one could do better than this!" I then refuse to recognize the superiority of anyone in my age/skill level. A little ego is good for you. <<which icons were done by Lynati?>>: The Angela in her non-normal outfit and the Asrial perched on a stone wall. <<perched upon the utmost peak of reality>>: That's a little low for me.

Well folks, that's all. I'm gonna hopefully bring my little bro tomorrow and expose him to the wonderful (psycho) fans. I'm going to a "fanfiction for dummies" workshop, which if any of you have read my fic you'll hopefully thank me for attending.

Your soul is like an appendix. I don't even use mine.
