Niamhgold: yeah, I bow down to the awesome power that is the prismacolor pencil. (but my inking isn't inking in the truly artistic sense; not with good pens and a lot of careful line work. No, mine is just going over my pencil lines in ink, for permanence. As of today I am going to start cleaning up these ink-line wo9rks in photoshop prior to coloring them so that the line work in the version I do color in will be perfect. Well, as perfect as *I* can make it, anyway.
Then the colored version back to photoshop so that I can cover up all the new mistakes I make during the coloring.
(Unfortunately, for my Avalon "class reunion" picture, I'm not going to have the luxury of photoshopping any of the final version- the paper will be too big to print out whole, and as I don't want it segmented...huh. Maybe it wou;ld be worth taking to some print shop...but I don't know if I could afford it.)

Aaron: so, what did she say? *waves at mara* is she in? ...are *you* in, for that matter? well, regardless, I have about three pages written out...I couldn't fall asleep while it was still loose in my brain. And I had an idea for two other people who it would make sense to ask...esp. after the events at the last one. [isn't my being vague fun and intirguing to the rest of you? heh heh. it's alright, I know most of you aren't bothering to read anyway...*makes googy faces that no one will see* ...oh, crap, asterisks tend to attract people's attention. Oh, well.]
anyway, if you actually want to see it...let me know.

Imzadi: Gyaah! awww. I hope it all works out in the end. What is it recent;ly with CR poster's computers having issues? stolen, me;lting down, generally being evil...we are having bad computer luck. :P

lain: I am going now to type up my promised listing. *gives hugs, 'cause lain is just so huggable*

I ran a few errands today...got cheap heeled shoes I can sew fur onto, and found a video place that actually has a decent anime collection in boths subs and dubs for rent (no slayers or nazca; I'll just have to wait until I'm back home and can renew my membership at Pandora's cube.) all six of record of Lodus (sp?) war, the first three of utena, some eva, ranma and a slew of others...How good are bubble crash! and bubblegum crisis, anyway? oh, and it looks like thewy have every ep. of south park out, too.

*runs to email lain, cause the lab is closing sooooon*

Hey. Ugh, I have so many assignments that (a) it's overwhelming and (b) it's going to put a very big dent in my procrastination expertise. I mean, this kind of work calls for immediate attention...not what I'm used to giving it. Plus, the assignment for Life Drawing is ludricrous: draw my left hand with my right hand, draw my right hand with my left hand (which, for obvious reasons, came out looking like a starfish or something ;)), draw my feet with any hand of my choice, and then draw my foot with my OTHER FOOT. The only way this could be useful to me is if I somehow become disabled in a car accident (please, no bad karma, please ;)). Oh, well, at least the teacher is a 25 year-old hottie, even if he _is_ married ;)

In other assignments...really, nothing for my animation class (yet) because the teach was having problems with the lab Macs, some reading on "Modernism" to do for my modernism class; I have to read a book and do a formal analysis on that by Thursday (but I love the teacher; if anyone wants to see his writing I've got one of the chapters of his upcoming novel here), and an illustration of a headache to do for Illustration. Plus, I'm going to apply for jobs this weekend, and I'm going to try to test out of EMAC on Tuesday. Busy busy busy, but, still, FOUR DAYS OFF!!! ;)

Ooh, and I won the foosball tournament last night, plus had a rousing game of basketball with Chad and Seth. That was fun. Tomorrow it's off to see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (yeah!!!), go to Austin's concert, and hopefully get my comic samples done for the reviewers. Robby--any helpful hints you could supply about getting comic pieces ready for review? The guy's a graphic novelist, mainly.

Emambu: Hey, there, compadre! ;) <but my network is apparently having trouble with the campus server (which makes no sense because the card is a Telesyn ATX - these things aren't uncommon) so I just haven't been on-line much this week> This seems to be more of a widespread problem than I thought ;) Currently it's taking the school network about eight years to load a page, and that's IF I don't get a timeout error. Plus, there are days when I reboot my computer and it won't detect my proxy settings; then other days it _will_. D@mn finicky things ;) <Actually, my computer is still randomly freezing up on me> I don't think you should worry too much about that...it seems that as long as you have a machine with a lot of decent software on it, it's going to do that a lot of the time. But I'm not a comp. sci major, I just animate with them, so I could be wrong. <In the meantime, I do have a story that could use some feedback *hint, hint*> Heh, if it's posted, I'm there ;) I might be slow on the feedback phase do to this formal analysis, but we'll see :) Have a fun weekend!

WArpmind: <A loon. Half white, half black, for some reason> I very much dislike loons, because their nests are protected on the lake by my house and you can't go within five hundred yards of them >:(. If you do, it's an automatic five-hundred dollar FINE ;) I'll just have to harrass the loons around campus, then ;)

Fire Storm: <Apparently, some ATI video cards and AMD don't mix. So maybe it was the video card> Amen!! ATI video cards really $uck ;) But as soon as I switched to ViRGE the problem disappeared...I had the same problem when I switched towers with one of the computers at home.

Traveler: <BTW, I'm biased against Macs for a very good reason. With the exception of a Commodore 128/64D, I learned on a Mac, then went to a PC> Okay, I'm not a Mac supporter (in fact, I bash my roomie constantly for owning one ;)), but that sentence didn't explain exactly why you're biased against Macs. I've gone from PC to Mac to PC...but using Macs at the same time for in-class stuff. Yeah, I hate the right-mouse-button dilemma, but I'm wondering what else makes you dislike them so much ;) <Well I guess that's what you get for getting a Mac.> Actually, same type of thing happened to me on my PC, and could happen to anyone regardless of what system they have.

Robby: <Osmosis Jones did terribly in the box office> Darn, and I did like that one. I think it's still that apprehension people seem to have with movies that mix live action with animation...I do admit, that tends to be a turn-off for me. But I was hoping it would do better. <They don't seem to have anything lined up next year outside of some Pixar stuff...> And what's that new movie, again? "Monsters"? I'll always watch Disney cartoons, but they haven't been keeping up to par anymore...darn mice ;)

The Man: <This is coming from my laptop, since I managed to turn my $4000 tower in a smoldering doorstop. No jokes, please> You're right, it isn't funny. Pro-PC or not, it's a problem present in both types of systems, and I don't think that the potential loss of a $4000 investment is _anything_ to laugh about. In fact, it's rather scary. I'm sure, however, you will prove yourself to be The Man by not only fixing the problem, but by proving everyone else wrong ;) <The graphics card is to blame, no doubt, which will teach me to think twice before removing it to test it in another machine> Actually, the problem in itself sounds like it'll be relatively easy to solve once you get the right card...of course, like I told Traveler, I'm no comp. sci. major ;) <We've begun completely destroying our sofa in preparation for the beautiful black leather one that Mike just bought. It comes in Friday> Nice. I just helped Colin and John lug a new blue sofa up to there room. No, they did _not_ ask me to help them test it out ;) <That's ONE class!? I'd go insane!> Lucky for me, I already am. Why else would I be in here, or still going to this school, for that matter? ;) <sure your mailbox has noticed the absence of josh-ness> Darn depressing that is, too ;) <Way to motivate the guy, Niamh> Heh, I told you, I'm a realist. <There's just no saving some people> Well, I hope you'll at least respect the fact that I'm not laughing at your current situation. <they cost buku bucks> Not any more than some good fun on a Friday night... <I hate you, Kenny> Well, my assignment schedule has changed and I wish someone would just _kill_ Kenny ;) <Mailing graphics WORKS, the problem is that it embedds the graphics (all GOOD email programs, including OE, do this) in the email> No, I understand. However, does OE also do this with PDF attachments? I haven't tried that yet...however, I haven't had a person on the receiving end who was able to download PDF, yet. <No you don't> However, this is my 19th year...and we all know what that means ;) <What is it you think engineers do?> Actually, it's been my knowledge that only half of the engineers _have_ butts ;) <I think ethics are for wimps and I still think it when I get screwed> I partially agree...but since I'm normally apprehensive about things, I always think something's going to come back to me unless I practice *some* form of ethics ;) <<<comment rooms are not the place to go for human contact>>: I couldn't agree more. These people are scary ;-)> How can you have human contact in a CR, anyways? Unless someone just developed something, such as that phone-zapper mechanism, that I'm not yet aware of. In which case, clue me in. <My point is that this was even MORE painful than TRL.> To even imagine that...:: shivers :: <<::cough:: ::gag::>> Not on the carpet, please ;) <Fun. I love building furniture> If you were being honest, point. If you were being sarcastic, nega-point. <realize that if you succeed, all that's required to jump-start the apocalypse is me breeding> The winged horsemen, fathered by Josh. Although 10% of them have a chance of having no head... <There just aren't enough women out there who appreciate fat pipes> :: cough and chuckles :: <Not that heat transfer doesn't interest me (wink, wink), it'd just be a more difficult course.> Ah, but the experiments and test subjects... ;) <"my whole life flashed before me eyes...it was really boring"> Chicken Run!!! <<<I'm trying to actually make the whole "let's be friends" thing work>>: Best of luck> Seriously. <<<At least we don't have little comics about condom usage all over the walls>>: I love those comics!> Now, how about condoms with comics all over them? (That just opens up a whole line of conversation that just isn't appropriate for the CR). <<<<No cruicifying student cartoonists for awkwardly pulling off a gag centering around a toucy subject>>: Ah, Berkeley> And thus, MICA ;) <Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. -Napoleon> And thus I shall IM you when you've gotten the computer kinks figured out.

GSide: <Should you trust my memory, Puerto Rico> Ah, Fair Haven, Puerto Rico. Tell me, how's the traffic there? ;) <<<I'm sure there are many women waiting in line to argue with you or smack you>>: I must be getting better> Only until you've got a few men in line, in which case I'd have to say you may be getting worse ;) <Going to get your belly signed?> One of my friends had her belly signed by Jerry (Ben and Jerry's) once, but that's another story ;) <Not just there. I recently put down nigh $300 on four books for three classes. You get used to it> Yeah, I know. Oil paints run 15 for a 5-ml tube (b@stards ;)). Luckily I'm an Illustration major, therefore I only have paid about $100 so far. Yay :) <Which is my I suggest spicing it up with the occaisonal burlesque> Only if you come to Jell-O Night.

Lady Mystic: <I've been sick for most of this week with Strep Throat and have been too ill to do anything but sleep> You have my condolences, but it's good to see that you're right on top of the situation. I've seen too many people let strep go and become mono/heart problems :(. It seems to be going around...Greg has it, though I think that may be because his girlfriend is anything but loyal ;)

Lynati: <And I have the penciling inked over on three of them. * is happy*> Ah, inking is fun. Do you do work in color, as well? We should trade strategies...although I'm still interested in seeing your work posted/online ;)

Ugh, all right, this has been long enough of a break to put me several hours behind in my work. And all I wanna do is _sleep_ ;) I'm going to be stuck in my room all weekend, so people, please bother me ;)

Adios all!

Does anyone else know about this? I learned this from my brother. He's taking a goverment class at Valencia. This is what his professor told him

That in Michigan its illegal for the kids to play tag at recess cause its a form of sexual harasment

and His(The government professor's)Nephew quit his little league team cause they eliminated scoring. Why? Caue there was one team that was always loosing. A kid from that team was being made fun of at school and his mother ued and won.

Josh: Sounds like you blew your motherboard. The exact same thing happened to me in April. I could boot up but I got no display. It was pretty bad, and I learned later that I not only destroyed the K-6 board, but also my processor and network card as well. Good luck, man, and my condolences because I know what it's like. Actually, my computer is still randomly freezing up on me, which scares me greatly because that's exactly how the last one acted before it died.

Lain: Check your e-mail, please. I need your go-ahead nod or refusal before I do this. Oh yeah... cool character descriptions! I think the rest of the CR should know that you have some great development on them. ;)

To everyone else: I'll probably attempt a full post later this weekend, but first I have some overdue e-mails *nods at Lynati* to attend to first. I had hoped to get back to regular posting this week since I had time for it, but my network is apparently having trouble with the campus server (which makes no sense because the card is a Telesyn ATX - these things aren't uncommon) so I just haven't been on-line much this week. Since getting everything hooked up last weekend, I have been able to stay on-line for longer than an hour only once. I have been working on it along a few other of my geek friends so this weekend should be an interesting test. In the meantime, I do have a story that could use some feedback *hint, hint* :) Ok, I'll stop pestering.

Hi, everyone. Saw something remarkable today. A loon. Half white, half black, for some reason. Kinda resembled Cruella DeVil. Incidentally, I spent most of the time watching it from the black side, which, in retrospect, I realized meant I was on the dark side of the loon... And I'm ashamed I didn't realize it at the time. :/

DPH: Third user-interface? Lessee, would keyboard, mouse and joystick suffice? Or would you like a fancier keyboard/mouse/touchscreen combination?

Gside: Ah, there will be lighter moments in the game (unless some wizardly dolt casts an Eternal Darkness spell or something), but... *Shrug* Oh, well, nothing's cast in stone yet. As for the seed of minotaur joke - I still don't get it, actually. What in the world were you referring to, anyway?

Josh: So many jokes, such a short life expectancy... *Sigh* };) Suggestion from He Who Has Seen Most Kinds Of Sh!t: try moving the card a nigh-microscopit distance in the slot - it COULD just be an incomplete contact. Wouldn't be the first time such a thing happened.

Well, that concludes the post. *Waits for DirectX 8 to finish downloading while working more on GURPS gameworld and pre-made characters...*

Anyway, my friend who was building an AMD Athlon system a few weeks ago experenced a similar problem. Though since your computer was actually running previously I doubt a DOA CPU (CPUs in your case) are the cause.

BTW, I'm biased against Macs for a very good reason. With the exception of a Commodore 128/64D, I learned on a Mac, then went to a PC. Heh, sometimes I think the reason Mac's still don't have a right mouse button is because Jobs can't patent it and call it an artistic expression of his genius since it's already in use. :P

Disney and the other animations: Not much to say about this at the moment, except that the big mouse can go eat some big cheese ;) More coherency on the dilemma later :)

Josh: That sucks (no, I'm not making any jokes, for once ;)). Remember when I was talking about the problems I was having with my PCI card? True, not the same *exact* problem, but trust me when I say I _know how you feel_. Hope you can get it working again. :)

Disney and the Miyazaki films- Okay, I need to come out of lurking from my busy school/work schedule to comment on this one, at least partially because I already know Stephen is gonna disagree with me on this. 8P

I've read about this in one of the other forums I visit frequently, and apparently, another reason for them opting to not release anything else Miyazaki related is due to the "poor performance of Laputa, Castle in the Sky". WHich of course you know, was never released and stuff.

As far as Mononoke... It made 2 million in theaters? That's actually pretty good considering it was only in like... 10 or 15 theaters nationwide for maybe 2 weeks, (And 6 of those theaters were in Hawaii...) had its release delayed 5 or 6 times so that it came out the same time Disney released and heavily promoted Toy Story 2, and then the DVD release was horribly delayed... And Kiki was straight to video with minimal advertising as well... (Worth note that the Mononoke was doing incredibly well in Hawaii... Hence the multiple theaters. It was packing and selling out showings consistently on multiple screens, and yet it still got mysteriously pulled for some reason...)

I think this bears out the theory of many that Disney only bought the rights to the films to prevent Ghibli from being any kind of competition to their usually tired formula films...

So the logic on Disney's part is apparently "Spend 5 or 6 million to buy the rights to these movies and bury them, or have the public notice them, saturate the market with GOOD material, and then have the audiences reprimand us when OUR movies currently in development suck in comparison and we lose 70 million on each of OUR movies for the next 4 or 5 years..."

Or maybe that's giving Disney too much credit. Maybe its more like
"Why movies no do good?"
"Movies baaad."
"OK, no show more."
"OK. But they MINE!"

I'm honestly not sure which is closer to the truth... But it is worth note that in the past, we've always been told YEARS in advance what Disney animated feature was coming up next, but right about now, Disney's not letting out much info about anything. I have absolutely no idea what their summer release for 2002 is supposed to be. They don't seem to have anything lined up next year outside of some Pixar stuff...

On a different, but related note... The Star Wars DVD is not selling well at all. Not even on the charts apparently...

On another different but related note, Osmosis Jones did terribly in the box office. Only made like 5 million opening weekend (which I blame largely on the commercials) and has already been pulled from most theaters. Its a pity, I rather liked the movie. On the other hand, this means it'll probably be available to rent by October.

There will be no real post from me today. This is coming from my laptop, since I managed to turn my $4000 tower in a smoldering doorstop. No jokes, please. This isn't funny. Damn things boots up, there's just no display. I tested the monitor, it works fine on my roommate's machine. No other monitors work on mine. The graphics card is to blame, no doubt, which will teach me to think twice before removing it to test it in another machine.

Imzadi> <<What is it you think engineers do?>>: She may have been thinking of the scene in Apollo 13.
<<Get chicks>>: So true.
<<Yet>>: My hope of that has been slowly decreasing over the years.
<<Where do you live anyway?>>: Should you trust my memory, Puerto Rico.
<<Not that heat transfer doesn't interest me (wink, wink)>>: I'd think fluid dynamics would interest you more. At least so you could have your fun and delay the apocalypse.
<<Why are there so many mechE's in my Civil courses?>>: Because MechEs and CivEs branch off from the same base.
<<Do you cut them first?>>: It helps, but you have to be careful since they shatter easily.
<<Huh?>>: LineAlg process. Make a lower triangular matrix from the ratios used to make an upper triangular matrix, then solve them in series. Realy decreases the number of computations needed.
<<And we all know what she meant, don't we?>>: Very much so.
<<I think its some other eastern block country>>: Close enough.
<<So where is it already?>>: Waiting for us to get through all 10^23 signs. We're making remarkable progress.
<<I'm sure there are many women waiting in line to argue with you or smack you>>: I must be getting better.
<<Bring your own H>>: But it helps to have a constatnly refreshing source. Even if one has just put up six full yaoi dojins.
<<Some E wouldn't hurt either>>: Eh?
<<I don't want LABIA chalking me>>: They usually limit themselves to chalking sidewalks.
<<Ah, Berkeley>>: Actually happened at Rutgers recently. Strip was The Flaming Cyclops, subject was the history of black slavery in America.
<<Which is so horribly wrong the rest of us are gonna have nightmares for a week>>: I'm only involved in the music side of things. As long as Istay away from the stage, no nightmares should be involved.
<<That's a mac joke>>: Yeah, yeah, but I was referring to those transparent things in walls.
<<That's what they get for thinking digital watches are a pretty neat idea>>: They don't think it's a neat idea, only we do.

Warpmind> <<It's an entirely different world from the CRPG I'm also working on-and-off on>>: I realize that, but it seems likely that with the same mind working on these, the feel to them would be similar.
<<*seed* of a minotaur? Um... ew>>: Pretty much. Made for some good jokes though.
<<we're talking WAY WAY WAY out of their league>>: Crushed and Red seemed to have a somewhat easy time of it, and they don't usually survive long ("Whoa... and here I thought the duck was bluffing...").

Christine> <<and get some stuff signed by a few of the big names who'll be there>>: Going to get your belly signed?

SOROW> <<Books are so damn expensive here>>: Not just there. I recently put down nigh $300 on four books for three classes. You get used to it.

Hey all! :)

Just stopping by to let you know that I've been sick for most of this week with Strep Throat and have been too ill to do anything but sleep. I'm on meds and am starting to feel a little better and will hopefully have enough strength to catch up on posts and TGS CR Info work within a few days.

I'm hoping to be better by Saturday since FS and I had arrangements made before I became ill to attend a local Ren Faire with my family and my father's girlfriend's family. If that happens it'll probably be an all day affair, which means I won't be able to update the archive until Sunday.

Take care.

Hey, where's Daniel Johnson? Just like Imzadi needs SJ, I need Daniel Johnson around.

Yahoo seems to be slow right now.

1+1=-3

Actually, I started with the premise that there was a being who created the universe and that being wasn't apathetic. All of the rest of my morals just fall in place from what I consider that being's rules.

I was pointing that Honesty may be the best policy, but it doesn't get you a job.

Imzadi - achieving peace with my dad will be a process. I thought it was Wilek, Warpmind, or SJ having children that was a sign of the end of time. If you are worried about an ending of time occuring soon, one issue still divides us: who controls how much sleep I get. I understand the feeling of a new PC: it's still mine. I even adjusted the screen saver to reflect the idea that the computer is my computer.

Some of my depression has re-surfaced. I guess one thing is used to cover something else up. The pain is unreal. I don't feel that hungry, but if I don't eat enough, I can't sleep.

I demand a 3d user interface with my computer. That software know-how exists AND the computers can handle it.

Ethics vs Morals - my moral standards are high, but I believe society's ethics are too low. I believe I said that correctly, right?

Imzadi - Killing outside of self-defense is something you're against, right?

ok, I had just recently gotten an email that part of it said that disney had the rights to all the other Miyazaki films. Though Disney has no plans to release any further Hayao Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli films in America, although they have the domestic distribution rights to 11 films including Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, and the current Japanese blockbuster Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi). Why? The dark nature of Princess Mononoke surprised Disney and "the disastrous results of Mononoke's 1998 U.S. release... changed everything... the film grossed just over $2 million" at the American box office. "That's kind of embarrassing, to have the most successful film in the history of Japan come to the U.S. and not do that well," said Steve Alpert, executive representative for Tokuma Publishing, the company that owns Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli. but it didnt do well because of a LIMITED release! Hey everyone. I've been to all my classes and they seem alright. Books are so damn expensive here! But I'm really enjoying the town and I finally got to hang out with one of my friends :) Hope you all are doing alright.

Well, all, I'm off to DragonCon. Hope to sell a few books maybe, and get some stuff signed by a few of the big names who'll be there. Back Monday!

Yo, wassup? ;)

I am still alive, just been writing stories. Just got to actually proof them then I can post them.

NOTE: Compared to the new stories, my old writing style was CRAP! (Although, it still amazes me that Alone got 5 stars!)

** Niamhgold enters briefly **

Ugh, these nine-hour days. I'm currently between my classes; I had a 9-12 class, "Modernism and After." The teacher is so _bland_. "Anyone, anyone?" ;) Then, at 4, it's on to drawing for six hours. Then, up at nine tomorrow for another lit. class. Ugh, I hate Thursdays ;) Should be able to post on the weekend, though, so catch you all then ;)

Adios!

Well, a local fella got arrested today, for illegal duplication of software - and charging money for it. Apparently, he'd hauled in about 2000$ last year alone on illegal copies of Microsoft software. *Sigh* That's one pirate who's swashed his last buckle, I guess. (I don't condone taking money for pirated software. Other opportunities, I'd rather not speak of in a public forum such as this...)

Aaanyway, post.

Lain: Still no portrait. :( Thing the Post Monster has eaten it? :(

Christine: Sabledrake? Not without a lot of work translating the Damn Thing(TM)... I'm writing it for a con in Bergen in mid-October. However, I might find the time to translate it since you asked. ;) (Solarrin's Necropedia, Volume I: The Recent Dead, and their uses. Volume II: The Long Dead, and their uses. Etc. Obviously, I won't write up the ENTIRE books... just short summaries.)

Moochie: I want to design the Triplette Special as more of a novelty than a serious weapon. Besides, it's a small pistol, not a machinegun. But I think I'll stick with APEX ammo as standard for the Titan Beak. Though, of course, I could always swap with Alphabet rounds, unless they prove to be WAY too heavy...

Gside: Shiunji might get a little foreword or appendix in the first volume of the Necropedia, though... unlikely, but not impossible. ;) And the gameworld for the GURPS game is serious. It's an entirely different world from the CRPG I'm also working on-and-off on. And, uh... *seed* of a minotaur? Um... ew. And ow. Minotaurs would be WAY out of 25-point characters' league... we're talking WAY WAY WAY out of their league... ;)

Josh: ->Insert witty, intelligent response here.<-

Well, that about concludes the post. Cheerio, everyone.

Heyla, all.

lain: Sorries for the lack of labeling...I just reeally wanted it to get to you, and had I waited any longer I wouldn't have been able to manage it easily. I'll email you the listings of songs for each CD later.
<scepticism inc> I gotta read this book. <having to deal with evil "father"> Stay good, lain! Stay good! *hands over a bag of apple jolly ranchers for lain to snack on*

Moochie: <"kinda wanna"> *makes disparraging sound* Oh, Now THERE is a compliment that'll get me writing again. *<-sarcasm dripping*. <phone bill> eek. <models gone bye bye> eeek! Good luck with those things. Oh, and what with me not currently having a computer, I don't have a messenger program.

...I SHOULD be getting a computer by the 10th of september.

Aaron: the phone card turned out to be evil. I tried to talk to Mara the other night, and during the 15 seconds that I learned from her mom that she wasn't home, I lost over 2000, minutes. I don't suppose you know the explanation for this? and after a 5 minute call home, the phonecard then told me I only had 80 minutes left. I am confused. Also, I had a scary idea for G'02...No, wait, I'll just email you about it.
"I now call to order this meeting of..." heh heh heh...oh, I am so easily amused...

I now have 17/36 sketches for my Avalon project done (and yes, they ARE all standing in the same pose, more or less. This is for referencing physical differences, not to show much of individual personalities.) And I have the penciling inked over on three of them. * is happy*

okay, I think the caf opens soon, and I missed breakfast...need I say more?

Josh> <<Slavery can be ethical in countries where it's legal, but it's still Immoral>>: Ooh, explain this one please.

Easy, but only if you suscribe to my definition of the difference between Morals and Ethics. (In the dictionary, they overlap somewhat). The subtle difference is that Ethics are the rules of a society, while Morals are concerned with objective right and wrong.

In a society where slavery was accepted and legal, owning and selling slaves would be ethical, but (if you accept that there can be objective views of right and wrong) not moral.

If you don't believe in an objective system of right and wrong, they as far as you're concerned morals and ethics are the same, and therefore nothing can be ethical but not moral. (I think you'd be wrong, though)

<<the same people who think morals are for wimps probably think ethics are for wimps, too (unless someone does something unethical to them)>>: I think ethics are for wimps and I still think it when I get screwed.

Then you're remarkably non-hypocritical. You're a danger to civilization, but at least you're a forthright one. :)

::walks in, listening to Dave Matthew's Band's "Under the Table and Dreaming::

Ugh. I got next to ZERO sleep last night and had to be up at the ungodly hour of 915AM for my 10AM class in fluid mechanics. At least the class itself wasn't too boring.

The good news is that my lab partner is my friend John (also my roommate's cousin). He's a bright guy (if a bit of a slacker). Working together will be fun.

Whoever said money can't buy happiness...couldn't afford this computer. They were WRONG.

In other news I'll be getting WB in January on DTV...just in time for Buffy to move to UPN. I'll have to hijack someone's cable connection.

John came over tonight and we hung out. I managed to get my math homework (god, what an easy assignment) in between moving addresses to my new machine. I wish someone wrote an import program...but noooooo.

We've begun completely destroying our sofa in preparation for the beautiful black leather one that Mike just bought. It comes in Friday. We are gonna have the most bad-ass bachelor pad ON THE PLANET. FEAR IT! (especially if you're female).

Computer is running very smoothly. Only one real crash in so far, which isn't bad considering I'm running a fledgling OS full-time.

SJ, Where art thou!?

On to replies!

The Wizard: <<Today's class is 8.30-2>>: That's ONE class!? I'd go insane! <<I'm even losing ground in email>>: Ditto. I'm sure your mailbox has noticed the absence of josh-ness. <<sounds like she was a real winner>>: Whoa there. All we know is that she liked gargoyles...that's a far cry from being a winner. <<there's small chance that she'll be taken come next week>>: Way to motivate the guy, Niamh. <<Somehow I don't think you were too greatly disappointed>>: I was, but only for about 1/20th of a second. <<POINT! ** drools **>>: Not on the carpet, please. <<Don't look at me! :) I was, uh, thinking of something _completely_ different>>: ::sigh::. There's just no saving some people. <<So you've lost Demona? Ah, she's immortal. You'll be able to resurrect her>>: I hope so. I don't want to have to send it to drive savers...they cost buku bucks. <<my next assignment isn't due until Wednesday next week>>: I hate you, Kenny. <<so that's why there's such high standards for women>>: Something like that. <<I was glad to see someone added in a Jericho, a Corwin, and a few others>>: I wasn't. <<Thus another reason for you to be a lawyer>>: No one suspects the engineer... <<now you've got another one>>: No, this one is at 11AM. I can tolerate those hours. <<Uh, are you looking at me again>>: You're misunderstanding. Mailing graphics WORKS, the problem is that it embedds the graphics (all GOOD email programs, including OE, do this) in the email. The problem is that there's no option to make it a separate attachment. <<Bow chicka...ah, we all know the drill>>: No you don't. <<what would a college be without hippies?>>: Scary. I may hate hippies, but its their presence that makes college tolerable. <<it's one of the few art majors where I can sit on my butt all day as opposed to standing at an easel for six hours straight>>: What is it you think engineers do?

David G: <<Ethics>>: I'm gonna go with "the laws" or "threat of litigation". <<Slavery can be ethical in countries where it's legal, but it's still Immoral>>: Ooh, explain this one please. <<the same people who think morals are for wimps probably think ethics are for wimps, too (unless someone does something unethical to them)>>: I think ethics are for wimps and I still think it when I get screwed.

Caliope: <<Aparently I'm a pacifist party girl>>: Hippy. <<What doesnt this boy do>>: Get chicks. Yet. <<thank you master>>: ... <<what does HFIL mean>>: its a CR-legal way of saying "hell". <<comment rooms are not the place to go for human contact>>: I couldn't agree more. These people are scary ;-) <<Why Josh! I never took you for a Carson Daily fan>>: I'm not. Carson Daly is a complete tool. My point is that this was even MORE painful than TRL. <<I got a demo cd and am curently quite taken by them>>: Kinky. <<I wish I had money to go visit ppl I know on line>>: Are you saving for Gathering 2k2? Where do you live anyway? <<you two look so cute>>: ::cough:: ::gag:: <<can anyone tell me when new Buffy eps are starting and where>>: UPN. soon. <<WHERE is Sevarius Jr When I need his Omnisient knowledg any way?>>: Wish I knew.

Baldy: <<DC is shredded by the hoverfans with a satisfying gout of blood>>: Ouch! <<since only the most twisted scribes will duplicate books bound in human skin>>: My kinda buds. <<When... Did... That... Get... There>>: About a week ago. <<You realize that I hate you, right>>: You and everyone else.

Queen of Pain: <<I got my new Stero stand!>>: Sweet! <<were are building it>>: Fun. I love building furniture. <<I'm surpised your not refering to Fleur as Spot since she said "My new name is Spot">>: My bad. I will promptly fix that. <<People are looking for you>>: All the more reason to run and hide.

Lain: <<no respect for you, my love. sorry, thats just the way things are>>: Maybe I should call him "gunjy wungy" instead of moochie? <<i think im in love..>>: I think you're certifiable. <<oh, dad, can you hang on a second? i have to ring this person through>>: When I didn't want to talk to my parents this summer I'd just pick up the phone and pretend it was a business call. It's a good strategy, no? <<but the conversation was worthwhile, anyways i guess>>: I fail to see how it could be.

DPH: <<I am going to try to make peace with my dad>>: You realize that if you succeed, all that's required to jump-start the apocalypse is me breeding?

Siofra: <<Ahhhhh.....ethernet>>: There just aren't enough women out there who appreciate fat pipes...

Rayvn: <<What class>>: ME104, dynamics. It was either that or Thermo. Not that heat transfer doesn't interest me (wink, wink), it'd just be a more difficult course. <<silly non-MechE>>: Why are there so many mechE's in my Civil courses?

Smut pandering b*tch queen of all creation: <<that Delilah is just gorgeous!>>: Seriously! <<just a warm-up for when I do the brown-paper-wrapper adults-only issue>>: Now THAT I can't wait for!

Moochie: <<I suck at speech-writing>>: Forget the writing. How good are you at DELIVERING? <<write a three-minute speech about ourselves. The problem is, I can't think of a thing to say>>: "my whole life flashed before me eyes...it was really boring" <<They're 1/50th our size, and yet they act like they own the place. They're arrogant, cocky, and occasionally psycho enough to attack people. Plus, unlike people, they don't report you to the Dean when you fire mashed taters at them>>: Sounds rather like me, actually. <<Morality requires a diety>>: How do you figure? <<start screwing back>>: I'll try. <<I HATE fence-straddlers>>: Me too. <<And speed>>: That definitely falls under the "sex" category. <<SOOOOOOOO many music files>>: The brilliant christian morality that blocks dirty sites from your computer has no problem letting you steal billions of dollars in intellectual property? <<I'm trying to actually make the whole "let's be friends" thing work>>: Best of luck. <<though the philosophy was a little nihlistic for my tastes>>: Why do you think I enjoyed it so much? <<I seem to remember him mentioning that they excelled at devising ways to kill large numbers of people all at once>>: Most of which blow up in their faces...or is that the goblins? <<What does the Law of Gravity have to do with whether things really fall down when we drop them>>: Actually, nothing. The law of gravity is just a restatement of a physical fact of the universe. <<At least we don't have little comics about condom usage all over the walls>>: I love those comics! <<I really wish people would quit making the whole guns/sex "connection">>: You obviously don't spend enough time around guns, Mr. Gunjack. Otherwise you'd see it. <<The average Human adult has one testicle and one ovary.>>: That explains a LOT.

Gside: <<frisbees>>: You're gonna poke someone's eye out with that thing, young man! <<shiruken>>: Do you cut them first? <<I have yet to have had the opportunity to make the mistake. Rest easy that I shall eventually>>: We knew you'd follow in our footsteps. <<It is for materials engineers>>: Materials Engineers: the MacGuyvers of Engineers. <<LU decomp>>: Huh? <<She never said what was hanging out.>>: This is true. And we all know what she meant, don't we? <<Ruskie>>: I don't think so. I think its some other eastern block country. <<H series. Stands for Frantic, Frustrated, and Female. Figure it out>>: I see. <<We've had so many, another wouldn't really matter>>: So where is it already? <<But it's so comfortable, and it makes me feel sexy, and it makes me look twenty pounds lighter>>: I'm sure there are many women waiting in line to argue with you or smack you. <<For flame arrows>>: Yup. <<graphical-user-interface environment such as X or the Macintosh interface>>: Is it just me or did they leave out the GUI that *90%* of the world uses?! <<Windows the product itself doesn't really need the second, only the poeple who make it>>: This is true. <<How would I survive without my H sites>>: Bring your own H. Some E wouldn't hurt either. <<No weekly chalkings by LABIA>>: I don't want LABIA chalking me... <<No cruicifying student cartoonists for awkwardly pulling off a gag centering around a toucy subject>>: Ah, Berkeley. <<Which is my I suggest spicing it up with the occaisonal burlesque>>: Which is so horribly wrong the rest of us are gonna have nightmares for a week. <<Windows. No, wait, I reglazed those too>>: That's a mac joke. At MacWorld expo, Iomega handed out pins that said "I don't *do* Windows". <<Every Single Being in the Galaxy Has Two Point Four Legs and Owns a Hyena>>: That's what they get for thinking digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

Okay folks, time for sleep.

Imzadi> <<But they make such lovely coasters>>: ...frisbees, shiruken, microwave art.
<<I'm sure every guy in here has made that mistake at least once>>: Sadly, I have yet to have had the opportunity to make the mistake. Rest easy that I shall eventually.
<<This is an assignment!?>>: It is for materials engineers.
<<do these 12 linear algebra problems by friday>>: LU decomp?
<<Boogie nights followed by "hanging out"...riiiight>>: She never said what was hanging out.
<<one european of some sort...guess which one it is?>>: Ruskie.
<<?>>: H series. Stands for Frantic, Frustrated, and Female. Figure it out.
<<Not to mention that's one of the signs of the apocalypse>>: We've had so many, another wouldn't really matter.
<<Take OFF that corset, Mr. Garside>>: But it's so comfortable, and it makes me feel sexy, and it makes me look twenty pounds lighter. Though the band isn't usually wearing the same outfit as the dancer.
<<It'll make a lovely target at camp>>: For flame arrows?
<<Windows?>>: To qote the Jargon File:
WIMP environment: n. [acronym: `Window, Icon, Menu, Pointing device (or Pull-down menu)'] A graphical-user-interface environment such as X or the Macintosh interface, esp. as described by a hacker who prefers command-line interfaces for their superior flexibility and extensibility. However, it is also used without negative connotations; one must pay attention to voice tone and other signals to interpret correctly. See menuitis, user-obsequious.
<<Windows is desperately in need of a GUI and a standard of honesty and fairness>>: Windows the product itself doesn't really need the second, only the poeple who make it.
<<Its one of those silly christian schools>>: The horror. How would I survive without my H sites?
<<There are no hippies there>>: No raging vegans? No weekly chalkings by LABIA? No cruicifying student cartoonists for awkwardly pulling off a gag centering around a toucy subject? The concept boggles the mind.

Niamhgold> <<ah, we all know the drill>>: Which is my I suggest spicing it up with the occaisonal burlesque.

Calíope> <<Hope it wasnt too bad>>: I couldn't open my hand all the way for a week or so, but otherwise nope. To see it, take a look at fleshwound.jpeg in my directory.
<<What doesnt this boy do>>: Windows. No, wait, I reglazed those too. Weather stations? No, that was today. Hanging the world? Nope, last week. I guess I can do everything.
<<I went to the beach, I went snorkling, rock climbing, bowling>>: Sounds like yours was more fun filled than mine. Though mine was more relaxing during my true down time.
<<what does HFIL mean>>: Home For Infinite Losers. The censored way of saying Hell in the American cut of Dragonball Z.

Warpmind> <<If you could e-mail me a list, maybe>>: No need. Every time I switch, I update a nifty file called cr.pls, the chronological record of all the mp3s, readable by most mp3 players, and easily interpretable from a text editor.
<<Sides, I have a burner here>>: Well then, if you can easily convert it to CD format when you wish, I would be pleased to get your shipment out the door as quickly as possible.
<<Happy?>>: Very.
<<I doubt Shiunji Watanabe would do for the purpose of necromantic encyclopedias>>: Perhaps he got tired of the lack on interaction.
<<At least not in a mostly-serious gameworld>>: There's the big one. The game world I was last informed of your construction was far below serious.
<<He's the guy from SexyLosers, right?>>: Ayuh.
<<is a minotaur horn too much, I wonder?>>: Nah, though go for a more classic ingredient: the seed of a minotaur. The Brothers Grinn are nigh geniuses (and poor Spurts will never get any respect now).

Spacebabie> <<I read outloud for Dromio>>: Which one? And did you get the spherical maid bit?

Gunjack> <<The problem is, I can't think of a thing to say>>: Just start in on how weqaponry has affected your outlook on life, and you should be good.
<<And speed>>: Speed is a function of the quality of toys.
<<Ya really know how to make a guy feel welcome, laddie>>: Not a problem.
<<What figures?>>: Little metal Tolkien characters. The company he used to get them from is out of business now, but luckily Mithril (http://www.mithril.ie/) has taken up the reins. They make a nice Lord of the Nazgul boxed set, and the Balrog is just good.
<<Read any Hellboy lately?>>: Sadly no.
<<I'm betting Explotation Now is off limits too>>: That, or the filtering software is exceedingly stupid.
<<The average Human adult has one testicle and one ovary>>: Every Single Being in the Galaxy Has Two Point Four Legs and Owns a Hyena

And since I am so lazy, another of my group of eden files is the official mp3. This time it's Bessie Smith, from the Basement Tapes of Bob Dylan, but in it's defence, what will become The Band is backing him.

This is a frank admission that I suck at speech-writing. Our assaignment, due on friday, is to write a three-minute speech about ourselves. The problem is, I can't think of a thing to say... : P

Oh, and I finally got Milkshape running again. Remember that time long ago when I was making models of GE Miniguns and such for halflife? Have I already mentioned that, when I got home, both milkshape and ALL MY MODELS had dissapeared? The minigun I spent 72 three continuos days biulding? The M79 grenade launcher I spent two weeks carefully shapping? The Coffin-Hammer Custom? My shock-stick and white-phosphorus flamer? ALL GONE.
So, now I get to start over. ; P
And while we're noting the little joys in life, I went by the Harding Telephone Service office yesterday to check my balance. In ONE WEEK, I managed to run up a $67 bill, most of which was to -you guessed it- Canada! Good thing I already got a job...

A few replies, and then I really need to buckle down...

Fluer><<My new name is Spot.>> Yeek! o.O ...Good luck on the recovery... <<*LOL* What is with college students and squirrels? Is there some secret war I'm missing out on?>> They're 1/50th our size, and yet they act like they own the place. They're arrogant, cocky, and occasionally psycho enough to attack people. Plus, unlike people, they don't report you to the Dean when you fire mashed taters at them.

Lynati><<What, no response to me, Valley boy?!? *pouts*>> *thbbbbbttttt* ...Of course I didn't, silly! I'd just TALKED to you! 'Course, I'd just talked to Lain, too, but that's a different thing. BTW, what messenger service are you using now? I can't talk even close as much as I used to, but I still kinda wanna hear the stories...

DPH><<Having morals is hard. At times, I swear the whole world wants me to lose them.>> Gee, does THAT sound familiar...
I'm not gonna try to respond to the whole thread. Lemme just say that I STILL haven't heard a good basis for "ethics" without some form of morality behind them, and Morality requires a diety. So either go find yerself a God, or quit griping about getting screwed six ways from sunday and start screwing back, preferably with high-powered weapons. I HATE fence-straddlers. End of sermon.

Ravyn><<Can you tell I'm missin' Coyote big time yet? ;)>> Boy, do I know THAT feeling... How long's he been gone for, anyway? When's he due back?

Gside><<You forgot toys.>> And speed. Processor speed, vehicle speed, communication speed, and good old-fashioned Speed. <<Woot.>> Ya really know how to make a guy feel welcome, laddie... ; ) <<Welcome to the dark side.>> Oh yeah! It took me a day or two, but I finally figured out how to access everyone's shared files. SOOOOOOOO many music files... <<Nice. Mine could have acted out both with his fugures...>> Act out with figures? What figures? Mathematical figures? o.O ...I mean, it IS a geek family... <<...but settled for instilling in me a complete summary, and letting us read on our own time.>> My brother and I weren't out of daipers yet, so the reading was a mite beyond us. That came later, though. <<Yup. If you missed it, apparently I am his reincarnation.>> Read any Hellboy lately? Maybe you should try that wicked chant and see what happens... I bet you could build the electrical coils to power the summoning, too...

Imzadi><<This is way too much work for an ex.>> It would be, but I'm trying to actually make the whole "let's be friends" thing work. Besides, she and her boyfriend are the only ones around here who actually want to play GURPS, and I'm jonesin'. <<It is one of the greatest movies ever.>> No argument there, though the philosophy was a little nihlistic for my tastes... <<SUCK.>> Yeah, it will... right up until I sell "A Bridge of Swords to Squaresoft for six figures and a 2% net commission... <<They're not very bright, so we don't expect the finer qualities.>> I think people confuse their simplistic outlook with stupidity. Tolkien's orcs seemed pretty shrewd to me, and I seem to remember him mentioning that they excelled at devising ways to kill large numbers of people all at once... <<That falls under "silence".>> Huh? How so? <<What does "all men are created equal" have to do with morals?>> What does the Law of Gravity have to do with whether things really fall down when we drop them? The statement "All men are created equal" is based on ethical (and hence moral) ideas. It can't be seperated from ethics/morality without making it completely subjective/no longer a universal staqtement/completely pointless. <<Silly Religious school...>> Actually, I love it here. At least we don't have little comics about condom usage all over the walls... : P <<Those fall under the "sex" category ;-)>> I really wish people would quit making the whole guns/sex "connection"... <<Its one of those silly christian schools...a.k.a. not a REAL college. There are no hippies there.>> Oh, it's a real college. You can get anything you want here, it's just that you don't have it shoved down your throat 24/7. I consider that a positive thing.

Warpmind><<If it helps, I'm considering just standard AP ammo for the Triplette Special.>> About that; I was working on some interesting weapons for one of my game worlds, and one of them was the shotgun laser. Basicly, it was a buncha holdout lasers stripped down and bundled together, and mounted on a single stock. Never finished it, though... Anyway, the triple-auto doesn't sound like too good of an idea. Why not just make a .32 ACP machine pistol that fires three-round bursts at 3000 rpm (3 shots in 1/50th second)? wouldn't that be rather more effecient? <<Oh, and your ethernet connection for CounterStrike... Now, who's the Devilspawn here? ;)>> There's a funny story there... I haven't been able to get version 1.1 of CS, so I STILL can't play. ; P <<I think the Kitty Hawk settled for a plain ol' 7.65mm minigun, plus a grenade launcher - THAT is shrimpy.>> Actually, given the givens, I'd rather have that combo than the 25mm. Heat rounds in the GL would give armor-busting power, and APDS in the minigun would let you reach out to 1,000 yards+ with both weapons... Plus, ammo might be lighter than for the 25mm... But on the other hand, the TB can use Alphabet (APFSDSDU) rounds, right? <<And the Titan Beak goes in a pop turret - can't have a backblast inside a pop turret, can we?>> I don't see why not... You can't fire a gun when the turret is retracted, and when it's extended, the exhaust should just blast backward normally. Is there a rule against it? I haven't played with pop-turrets much.

Gside><<Filtering software at a college? Please tell me that was a jest.>> Nope. Everything goes (or doesn't go, as the case may be) through the filter. I wasn't even sure it'd let me in here, what with the Adult fan page right next door... Anyway, I can still get to PA, Sluggy, Megatokyo, CRFH, and here. So far it's cut me off from elflife, and I'm betting Explotation Now is off limits too. If they banned Walky, I'm gonna take steps...

And, in case yer wondering, Lain DID find the change she needed. Hence this post being so late. Peace!

All moved in! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got to school safe and sound, unpacking stuff and getting all settled now. I'll probably post later, but I'm trying to delay in tackling the really annoying unpacking (cleaning supplies, etc...) Then I get to do the fun stuff like reorganizing my art supplies!
Ahhhhh.....ethernet
Later all!

well howdy doody all!!

*sees gunjack, and pounces*
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... gunjy wunjy..
tee hee.. no respect for you, my love. sorry, thats just the way things are ; )

oh.. speaking of no respect.. i went to bed rather late last night, couldnt sleep and all. then at 8 thismorning, i got a phonecall from mr dude asking me if i would move furnature with him.. so i did. (and i just noticed there is a can of hunt's "pate de tomates: a l'ail" on the counter of the computer desk. that is NOT something you expect to see in a library.. aaaaanyway..) so i did that, then watched some startrek (and fell asleep..) and it was filled with ackwardness. but on the bright side, mr dude loaned me two books, one is called "the life of GOD (as told by himself)" and the other called "scepticism inc." i am especially enthusiastic about "scepticism inc." its great.. the first chapter reads:

"I climbed Mount Everest eighty thousand years ago. I am the last supermarket trolly alive. Aloha.
I once bet 500,000 pounds that GOD existed. I was a nut. Thanks to Edgar Malroy I am better now. Really.
I was made on the 3rd of November, 2022, at 11:30am in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Chelmsford.
After I rolled off the production line I was greeted by a technician with a friendly face. She tapped me on my push-bar and said the first words I have ever heard. Which were: 'who's a pretty boy then?'
Which was how I discovered my sexuality."

the entire book is told from the point of view of a sentient supermarket trolly..
i think im in love..
aloha.
; )

aaaaah and on to the news of my father. last night, i phoned him from work, and he yelled at me for about an hour. now before you roll your eyes and tell me i should stop whining, this is a FUNNY story.. cos ya see.. i was at WORK.. so whenever he got on a good roll of yelling, i got to: "oh, dad, can you hang on a second? i have to ring this person through.." and put the phone down. unfortunately, every time i picked the phone back up, hed forgotten what he was talking about..
but the conversation was worthwhile, anyways i guess. i still get to go home this weekend to the engagement party (wooha) but he promises not to be antagonistic.. (as do i). he doesnt have a clue who i am anymore, and i dont think i really know who he is. gunjacks influence on my outlook on life has been profound. and fiancees influence on my father has probably been not so teeny either. well see what happens, anyway.

and i played half-life. its not that scary. the only REALLY scary part is that, when you are on a ladder, and you look down.. youre not there.. you cant see your feet.. or legs.. its just an empty ladder.. freeeeaky.. oh. and i keep running into walls..
the monsters? not scary. the blood.. well.. i dont like it much.. (duh) but that ladder is scary..

gunjy>>2.5 months?? how will i LIIIIVE?!?? oh.. right.. ill live, i ALWAYS live ; ) ill just pretend to be a sentient supermarket trolly. aloha. ; )
*senses a long, drawn-out discussion about theology approaching.. and relishes the thought* I NEED A NEW PHONE CARD!!!!! over the past two days, i have found 4.55$ in loose coinage lying around.. i only need 5$.. if i call you, youll know i have spare change.. ; )

lynati>> PACKAGE CAAAAAAAME!!! (but they arent labled... : ( ) i havent had time to listen to them yet today but i will as soon as i get home. someday, can you send me an email of whats on there and why? that would be shiny..

uh.. i have to go now, they are kicking me of the computer (again)

lots of love to you all.. i hope to respond to emails soon (especially jannie, who has been waiting forever!!! I HAVENT FORGOTTEN YOU!!!! HONEST!!!!!!!!)
; )

I got my new Stero stand!

Its all black with plenty of shelves and slots for CD's. It's much better than my old stand, my old stand is a piano bench.

Well were are building it. I'm ticking off my brother caus I'm reading the directions in Spanish too him on purpose.

I also started harness trainng my cat Velvet. She has good qaulitys for a cat show, plus she is a real sweetheart, also it will be easier to take her to the vet.

Good news for my dad, We can wait until december for his porstrate surgery. He went into radiology yesterday and I got to wait in the waiting room. I finished reading Comedy of Erros so I'm ahead of schedual.

als yesterday in Class .I read outloud for Dromio in front of the class. I did not quake, nor shake and my voice did not waver, nor quaver. and I even put a little acting into it.

Josh>>>You got your new computer! YAY! As for people crowding around your box. Thats just human nature. People are just curious about whats in the box, and I'm surpised your not refering to Fleur as Spot since she said "My new name is Spot"

Fleur: Get well. I remember having that when I was in the sixth grade. I felt icky and I just wanted to cover my entire body in Calamine lotion.

Sevarius jr:poke poke: People are looking for you.

Aaron:That gos for you as well.

*Warpmind roars up to the CR in a very fancy-looking sports car... that doesn't touch the ground. Chasing down DC in it and flattening the villainous fiend, he drops the car to a jarring halt. Then he kickstarts the hoverfans again. DC is shredded by the hoverfans with a satisfying gout of blood, and Warpmind steps out, grinning sadistically.*
Ladies, gentlemen, regulars, and... *Glances at a smear of goop stuck to his sole* ...remnants, I have the delight to announce that the Titan Eagle is finished. }:) No regular engine, just a hydrogen-powered hyperfan to provide propulsion for both aerial and ground-based motion. And a tank that should suffice for about three hours' worth of travel. Which, with a top speed of 160mph should be a reasonable distance. (Other features will be kept somewhat secret... for now.)

Christine: Thanks! As it happens, there are four volumes of Solarrin's Necropedia - all of them delightfully gruesome in nature. (And, of course, very difficult to come by, since only the most twisted scribes will duplicate books bound in human skinn and with the title formed by tiny bones...) };) Don't worry, you'll be appropriately credited for it. (Or should that be Tim who gets credited?)

Siofra: Threebrain.com? Weeeeeeeeeee... ;)

Gside: My favorite 20 songs...? Ugh, that'd require both scavenging through the archives and my memory... some of those songs, I never even got around to downloading. :( If you could e-mail me a list, maybe...? ('Sides, I have a burner here, so I can generally get what music I want, burnt. What with dad's vast archive of tapes, records and a few CDs, there's plenty to choose from - and yes, we can record to PC to CD from either the old-fashioned record player or the tape player.) As for the DongleHooptyTweaker, there's a carrot and a hand crank, alright. They're just not directly visible. *Opens a small hatch on the machine, revealing aforementioned carrot and hand crank.* Happy? };) But I doubt Shiunji Watanabe would do for the purpose of necromantic encyclopedias. At least not in a mostly-serious gameworld. However, if I ever decide to make a spoof of it, I might use that idea. (He's the guy from SexyLosers, right?)

Josh: There's... A... Credits... Link... On... Your... Icons... Page... When... Did... That... Get... There...? *Blink* You realize that I hate you, right? ;)

Well, that's the end of the post. Gotta get back to making GURPS game... *Sweatdrops* Lessee... after getting the beaver's tooth to the alchemist, is a minotaur horn too much, I wonder? *Looks up racial stats* Yup, WAY out of their league... hmmm... Ah, hoof of faun looks far more realistic... at least the poor schmucks will have a chance of surviving for a little while... }:) *Scribbles himself out*

DPH> [Why is slavery wrong if Morals are not for WIMPS?

What keeps the bank from stealing your money?
What keeps your boss from not paying you or reducing your hourly wage without telling you?]

Ethics.

Except for slavery. Slavery can be ethical in countries where it's legal, but it's still Immoral.

Of course the same people who think morals are for wimps probably think ethics are for wimps, too (unless someone does something unethical to them).

And now, on a totally unrelated note:

*sigh*

See ya'll later.
Morals.

** Niamhgold enters **

Hi, everyone! Well, the first week is going well so far. How could it not be? I've only had class once already, it was illustration, and yesterday was my day off. Today's class is 8.30-2, though, and tomorrow is--dum, dum, dum--9-12, then 4-10, then Friday 9-12. Ugh, but I'll make it :) I'll also keep trying to post as often as I used to, but I'm even losing ground in email. However, I think everyone else is getting time-tied too, and so I'm not worried ;) On to replies!

Christine: <Avalon Mists> Looks AWESOME :) I love the captions for Brooklyn. :) Thanks for putting that up!!

Revel: <Yes folk, I forgot to get her number. DOAH!!!> Dammit ;) And sounds like she was a real winner, too! Don't worry...there's small chance that she'll be taken come next week :)

Josh: <No, it was not Elizabeth Dushku accidentally packaged inside> Somehow I don't think you were too greatly disappointed ;) <Monsoon Speakers> POINT! ** drools ** <And no, "POS" will not be considered> ** Looks around in a shifty manner ** What...who, ME? Don't look at me! :) I was, uh, thinking of something _completely_ different ;) <I'll lose my entire PSL folder and my hundreds> So you've lost Demona? Ah, she's immortal. You'll be able to resurrect her ;) <I only have a couple homework assignments so far, but they're not due till Friday> Heh, my next assignment isn't due until Wednesday next week ;) Unless you count having to go test out of Electronic Media and Culture, which is next Tuesday. <Our thoughts are with you> Thanks? <It's Tom Cruise> Ah, so that's why there's such high standards for women...;) <Neither can the men-folk> I was glad to see someone added in a Jericho, a Corwin, and a few others. <Besides, satisfaction isn't always so easy to get. > No comments ;) <Most engineers are NOT gonna be reds, because they're too wussy to be confrontational> Thus another reason for you to be a lawyer ;) <<That's my penance apparently for not sticking with the 8AM class last semester> Ugh, and now you've got another one. Well, at least you're not a _senior_ in a freshmen course. <But he doesn't say "oot", so how can I be sure> "Eh?" <Re-read the ENTIRE icons site. kicktothenuts.com/gargoyles> Lol. <...sending files in mail is kinda wierd right now, especially graphics> Heh. ** cough ** Uh, are you looking at me again? <How gullible do you think we are! Boogie nights followed by "hanging out"...riiiight> Bow chicka...ah, we all know the drill. <Its one of those silly christian schools...a.k.a. not a REAL college. There are no hippies there> And what would a college be without hippies? Well, thankfully missing all those guitar serenades at 4 am, to be precise ;)

Adios for now, everyone...I've got my Comp. Animation class today, I lost my printed schedule, so I'm going to guess :) I love my major...it's one of the few art majors where I can sit on my butt all day as opposed to standing at an easel for six hours straight. If anyone wants to AIM me (Dreamie, I caught your message too late last night!), I should be around after 2.

Adios!!!

Hey folks!

Today, I had my first Math lecture. God, I feel like an old fart in that class. My roommate and I are probably the only juniors in a 500-seat lecture hall...and I think all the rest are freshman. That's my penance apparently for not sticking with the 8AM class last semester. Oh well, I can deal. Mike is taking the class now because he was taking yet ANOTHER math class last semester. Too much math, if you ask me. The prof is a funny South African guy whose half-british accent isn't TOTALLY incomprehensible.

I also had my first MechE lecture. The prof sounds like a Southerner, but he says he's Canadian. But he doesn't say "oot", so how can I be sure.

Anyway, both classes are sure to be boring. I think this semester is just gonna be a LOT of math problems and virtually no reading/writing. I'm not sure if that's good or not, but I'm sure to burn out quickly.

The computer is running great. 2 512 MB DIMM's arrived at 9AM...I actually went back to sleep before installing them. All I need now is a matching 40 Gig 7200 RPM HD and I'll be good to go. Still haven't decided on a name yet.

I saw "Bring It On", which was a really stupid movie with Kirsten Dunst and Elizabeth Dushku playing cheerleaders in some competition. I have to love movies that make something as silly and brainless as cheerleading into such a life/death or moral situation. I will be sending a bill for my time to my friend who made me sit through it for every minute that did not feature Elizabeth Dushku.

I was reminded of how mature and grown up I used to think high school kids were when I was in junior high. Then I got to high school and I thought that we were the most immature group of people I'd ever had the disprivelege of knowing.

On to replies!

Xanathar: <<I wish I could get a GeForce 3 myself, but even at a swapmeet it's still too expensive>>: That, of course, is the primary reason I didn't buy one. $250 extra!? I don't even play any games that are more graphics-intensive than StarCraft! What would I need 64 megs of VRAM for (aside from pushing frames in iTunes visualizations?) <<Oh believe me,Fleur is female>>: Chika bow?

Baldy: << I don't want a stack of misburnt discs in the mail>>: But they make such lovely coasters! <<I can't seem to divine the artist's identity from the icons>>: I have no more faith in your intelligence. Re-read the ENTIRE icons site. kicktothenuts.com/gargoyles

Revel: <<Of all the stupid, no vrainer, lack of standardized common sense thing I could have done, I did. Yes folk>>...you spelled "brainer" wrong. <<I forgot to get her number>>: YOU FOOL! Oh well, I'm sure every guy in here has made that mistake at least once. <<now you see the atrocity I have committed>>: But was she CUTE!? <<I can hear you breathing>>: No you can't. <<is that like that little dud who was on my shoulder that I kick off some where over the salt flats of Utah?>>: I beat him like a red-headed step-child.

Lynati: <<I love a place that gives you assignmentys like : go find someplace (in Kansas City) to dig up 12 pounds or so of clay>>: This is an assignment!? Try: do these 12 linear algebra problems by friday. <<one of his ate itself>>: Why? Because it COULD! ;-) <<Thanks. For the saving the art files, that is. If you can't dig up the other photoshop file, don't worry too much about it>>: Find me on AIM and I'll send you files I've got...sending files in mail is kinda wierd right now, especially graphics.

DPH: <<Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!>>: You got punished and had to type it 100 times, huh? <<Why is slavery wrong if Morals are not for WIMPS>>: What does "all men are created equal" have to do with morals? Its just a belief, a faith if you will. <<What keeps the bank from stealing your money?>>: Nothing. The FDIC keeps it there. <<What keeps your boss from not paying you or reducing your hourly wage without telling you?>>: The law. <<I'm the only one in the CR [right now] who thinks morals are good for society?>>: Not at all. I think morals are good for society. I just don't have any.

Smut Pandering B*tch queen of all creation: well, you certainly earned your title THIS time ;-). Too bad I don't have time to read all the new fics right now.

Siofra: <<We rented 'Boogie Nights' (first time I've ever seen it) and, uh, hung out and stuff>>: Oh come on! How gullible do you think we are! Boogie nights followed by "hanging out"...riiiight. <<If all goes well I will be up and running with my spiffy Ethernet connection tomorrow night>>: Mmmmm...ethernet. What kind of speeds do you get?

Moochie: <<the filtering software in charge of scanning all incomming data decided that that link was "tasteless", so it won't let me see it>>: Silly Religious school

Gside: <<the group I was with was instructed twice to "69, everyone.">>: More fun than twister! <<is such a statement socially acceptable>>: RHPS comes to mind. <<With or without a tight leather suit>>: Without...not that with would have been such a wonderful thing. Its a sexy monitor, but not quite as sexy as Elizabeth Dushku. <<Shame>>: Two of my profs are British, one asian, one american, and one european of some sort...guess which one it is? ;-) <<Just look at F3>>: ? <<Wilek doing it. The number of elder gods summoned yearly would skyrocket>>: Not to mention that's one of the signs of the apocalypse. <<You would want a flayed woman>>: Um, no...though there are a few women I'd like to see flayed... <<segues into roaring burlesque>>: Take OFF that corset, Mr. Garside. <<But there are many, many noisy toys>>: Those fall under the "sex" category ;-) <<Want a dead, kerosene soaked squirrel>>: Sure. It'll make a lovely target at camp. <<What needs a GUI for a standard of honesty and fairness>>: Windows? Maybe I misunderstood the question. But Windows is desperately in need of a GUI and a standard of honesty and fairness... <<Filtering software at a college? Please tell me that was a jest>>: Its one of those silly christian schools...a.k.a. not a REAL college. There are no hippies there.

I'm free of all prejudices. I hate everyone equally. -Unknown

This evening, the group I was with was instructed twice to "69, everyone." In how many situations than getting a band all on the same measure (and orgies), is such a statement socially acceptable?

Imzadi> <<It was, in fact, a monitor>>: With or without a tight leather suit?
<<Only one of my professors speaks in Chingrish>>: Shame.
<<satisfaction isn't always so easy to get>>: Just look at F3.
<<Most engineers are NOT gonna be reds, because they're too wussy to be confrontational>>: Niamhgold> See?
<<I'm not sure what's scarier>>: Wilek doing it. The number of elder gods summoned yearly would skyrocket.
<<That will be fine>>: You would want a flayed woman?
<<begins porn riff>>: How about something different: *segues into roaring burlesque*
<<You got it>>: Who da man?
<<That falls under "silence">>: But there are many, many noisy toys.
<<Just implying that "geek" is derived from "EECS">>: Noticed it the first time, forgot it the second. Really. I'm telling the truth. Truly. I did.
<<Homonecropyrobeastialacrophilia?>>: Very good. Want a dead, kerosene soaked squirrel?

Warpmind> <<I don't want a stack of misburnt discs in the mail>>: Don't worry, I test each one when I make it. The only problem should be enough padding to make the trip successfully. Oh, and could you email me your favorite 20 or so songs that I've posted?
<<should the references be called Morganian or Morganic?>>: I'd go with Morganian. Somewhat echoes Morvalan.
<<the DongleHooptyTweaker>>: No carrot or hand crank? every mysterious torture device must have a carrot and a hand crank.
<<May I *pleeeeeeeeease* use Solarrin's name as the author of the Necropedia?>>: Go for Shiunji Watanabe. You can add little things on how the subject matter tends to wander from just magic.

DPH> <<Morals are not for WIMPS>>: Of course. What needs a GUI for a standard of honesty and fairness?

Moochie> <<the filtering software in charge of scanning all incomming data>>: Filtering software at a college? Please tell me that was a jest.

Dammit! I don't know what I hit, but... Arrrghhhhh!
Sorry about that.
Anyway, just got home from my sweetie's house. We rented 'Boogie Nights' (first time I've ever seen it) and, uh, hung out and stuff ;-) Tomorrow I move back into my dorm, so he and my mom and I are going to be in Ann Arbor for most of the afternoon. Then my mom is picking me back up on Thursday so that I can go up north with him and his family to the lake. Then its back to school on Tuesday, classes start Wednesday, and then we are going to the RenFest here that next weekend. Don't know if anyone really cares or not, but that's my next few weeks planned out. If all goes well I will be up and running with my spiffy Ethernet connection tomorrow night!

No real replies tonight, too wired and tired to really say anything coherent/intelligible. This post is probably all over the place and all crazy anyway. I think I'm going to bed now, lots of stuff to do tomorrow! Talk to you all from my dorm room!

Ooh, and go to threebrain.com
Gunjack, does this have anything in common with your last post? ;-)

Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!!
Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!!
Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!!
Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!!
Morals are not for WIMPS!! Morals are not for WIMPS!!

Why is slavery wrong if Morals are not for WIMPS?

What keeps the bank from stealing your money?
What keeps your boss from not paying you or reducing your hourly wage without telling you?
Morals.

Wait a minute, I'm the only one in the CR [right now] who thinks morals are good for society? Wait a minute, I need to check something. *activates scanner and gets a quick read out* Nevermind. It makes sense for the lack of morals around here.

Oh no, the amoral police are after me.

*disappears into another universe**

ahh, art school. I love a place that gives you assignmentys like : go find someplace (in Kansas City) to dig up 12 pounds or so of clay.

Revel: aaron is having computer issues...one of his ate itself, and the other melted down...or soemthing...he has one on lend, and can get online, but I think things are being resolve'd.
And he hasn't gotten the recording cleaned up yet, 'cause he hasn't the knowledge or the tech to do it himself, and we don't want to chance screwing it up.

aaron: I don't now if the mail room is open...I may have to wait until tommorrow.
And i thought you meant 'stuff to send' in the way of email, not enertaining tapes and such.
...and that was a terry Goodkind reference, not a terry Pratchet reference. ;) (but then, I may have said the wrong one to you anyhow, so I can't complain muchly.)
Oh, and my tuesday class doesn't get out until 9:15 PM.

*waves at Shinigami, and at Aingeal*
Aingeal: hey, if your looking for more inked pics to color on computer, i may be able to help you real soon.

Imzadi: heh, that is what I thought. (but if you ever do have free time...). Thanks. For the saving the art files, that is. If you can't dig up the other photoshop file, don't worry too much about it.

lain: let me know if you get the package. *more hugs*

Of all the stupid, no vrainer, lack of standardized common sense thing I could have done, I did. Yes folk, I forgot to get her number. DOAH!!! Usuall I would not fret but the class is only once a week. She saw me drawing, more like doodling and started to get into a gargoyles discussion about why Xanatos was her favorite bad guy of all time. Yes, now you see the atrocity I have committed.
Oh well.
Aaron- (taps screen) Yo Aaron, you out there, I can hear you breathing. I forgot to ask, how did that recording of Thom come out, did you filter it? I'm sure other want to hear it.

GregX- Morals, what are those, is that like that little dud who was on my shoulder that I kick off some where over the salt flats of Utah? hehe.

sorrow- At that school you will be luck if people don't start dragging you to parties.

*Warpmind enters, pondering.* Just realized something from the Magelore books... In the first chapter of Dark of the Elvenwood, we learn that Vondra's skills has brought in an astounding amount of donations from Thanis' upper class... in Archmage of the Universe, we learn that she's a witchery-woman, who obviously specializes in curses and generally bad mojo... am I the only one who senses a hint of a connection there? Õõ

Moochie's BACK! YAY!

Moochie: Yeah, I obsess a bit over the WP shells for the Dante Custom. If it helps, I'm considering just standard AP ammo for the Triplette Special. };) Besides, a 20 gauge works fine considering it's a HANDGUN! Oh, and your ethernet connection for CounterStrike... Now, who's the Devilspawn here? ;) As for 25mm being pretty shrimpy... I think the Kitty Hawk settled for a plain ol' 7.65mm minigun, plus a grenade launcher - THAT is shrimpy. And the Titan Beak goes in a pop turret - can't have a backblast inside a pop turret, can we?

Fleur: So there's a fowl pox on ye? Alas, 'tis something that makes me glad I'm rid of THAT one... :/ Get well soon, friend.

Gside: Great! I can't wait. Uh, hang on... I'll HAVE TO wait... nevermind. Take your time; I don't want a stack of misburnt discs in the mail. ;) By the way, should the references be called Morganian or Morganic? ;)

Josh: So, I can't seem to divine the artist's identity from the icons. Divulge. Or be exposed to the tortures of... *Unveils a large machine covered in many tubes, hoses, dials, wired, suction cups, pins and other unsavory-looking items, including three turney basters* the DongleHooptyTweaker! };)

Christine: I'm working on a slight derivative of the GURPS magic system for my gameworld, depending on certain encyclopedic tomes as spell prerequisites (for the research bit). I've got most of the titles down, but... I'm kinda running out of names. May I *pleeeeeeeeease* use Solarrin's name as the author of the Necropedia? :)

*Warpmind looks around, then shrugs.* Well, I gotta be going again... I'm filling in at the library today, so... Later. *Vanishes through L-space*

::comes into the CR lugging two HUGE boxes::

They're mine, I say! ALL MINE!

::viciously bites at anyone who gets within arm's reach::

I get a break from class today at around 2, and I rush back to the apartment. The UPS truck is outside, no UPS guy in sight. I run inside. My note telling the UPS guy who to leave the box with was still there. I saw the dolly marked "UPS" and ran upstairs. All my friends were standing around the box oogling it (you'd think they'd never seen a box before...oh...nevermind ;-)).

"Don't touch that box!" came my yell from the hallway.

"Guess Josh is here" came the reply.

I opened the monitor box first. No, it was not Elizabeth Dushku accidentally packaged inside. It was, in fact, a monitor. ::curses::

My G4 tower came in today. Dual 800 MHz G4 processors with 2MB of L3 cache EACH running at 200 MHz. 17" flatscreen ADC monitor with built in USB hub, 40 gig 5400RPM Hard drive (soon to be joined by either a 30 or a 40 7200, then probably a 100 GB 7200). 128 MB of RAM, soon to be 1152 (tomorrow, I think). Built-in 12x burner. Apple Pro Keyboard and Pro Optical Mouse. Airport card. Firewire. Monsoon Speakers.

I'm thinking of calling him "Colossus" because my roommate's machine is "Behemoth" and this is bigger, badder, and silver. Though possibly "Avalon". I'm open to suggestions. And no, "POS" will not be considered.

The only its missing is a 22" Cinema Display, and maybe a DVD-ROM drive.

There was one major casualty of the transition: my 30 GB external HD. I tried to rip it out of its case and transfer it to my tower, and I ran into...problems. Unless I can get it working, I'll lose my entire PSL folder and my hundreds of hours of photoshopped versions of the pictures I used to make icons. Argh. Oh well, its not like the PSL can't be replaced. I'll also lose my backup folder, but I don't think I really need that anymore.

And this is my first post being made from the new machine! I'm sure to spend the rest of the next week getting everything set up just the way I like it.

Today was also my first day of classes. I think its gonna be a boring semester, but not particularly difficult. Only one of my professors speaks in Chingrish, and we are fortunate enough to have a very AMERICAN TA for that course. The rest of my profs are British or American. More on each of the classes this weekend.

I only have a couple homework assignments so far, but they're not due till Friday.

On to replies!

Gavin: <<true>>: Yes, yes it is.

Lynati: <<I want one SOON and ground shipping is free if I order before Wednesday>>: Outpost has free shipping on every order over $500. <<I wonder if I get get Imzy to make me a set of icons of all 36>>: Sure, why not. I have nothing but free time...NOT! Yeah, I'd get around to it. Only catch is that they won't work in windoze. <<do you by chance still have the two jpegs I sent to you for iconozation>>: I believe I do ::checks:: Yes, I do. But only Asrial is in the PSD format. Angela has been reduced to a lowly JPG. But I do have them. I MIGHT be able to dig up the Angela PSD given a few more weeks, we'll see. What's your email addy and I'll send them to you.

Baldy: <<You can't afford that much justice anyway>>: You missed the trip to my house, didn't you? ;-) <<if they're TGS illustrations>>: They're not. <<If they're not, well, resolution could *definitely* have been better>>: Um, they're 128x128 icons, not full sized pictures.

The Wizard: <<Niamhgold enters...FINALLY>>: No comment. <<I guess I'll be busy and I can only hope for the best...but thinking of the worst, just to be prepared>>: Our thoughts are with you. <<Though it seems like more since you've been doing it every day in super-long world-record-length posts>>: Seriously. That's why I said the 6 month thing was silly. <<Interesting decision. Who's responded positively to that>>: So far, just Shannon Elizabeth, but I can deal with that. <<Get out of my head, get out of my head>>: No comment again. <<I think I could stand Macs that ran Virtual PC>>: Ugh. I don't think the macs could stand it though. <<What do you do if a guy wants everything?>>: Give it to him. <<where can I download it? I'm curious>>: www.tlc.com <<Lemme guess...is it oval>>: It's Tom Cruise. <<I had a 9-3 today>>: Sorry about that. <<Can't wait to see the, uh, "creative" solutions to your challenge>>: Neither can the men-folk. <<All you need is good music, some friends, and satisfaction.>>: You should say such things to Sorow when SJ and I are around. Besides, satisfaction isn't always so easy to get. <<I figured you a red, like me. Weird>>: Most engineers are NOT gonna be reds, because they're too wussy to be confrontational.

Revel: <<Taoism: Sh!t Happens>>: I know that poster. But its not as good as the one filled with blond jokes. <<all men want, you forgot cars>>: But the other three are more important. Would you rather have a nice car or an SO that wouldn't shut up?

Moochie: Welcome back to CR! Long time no post, buddy. <<six-foot cockroaches colonizing the sewers of New York City>>: And that would be different from normal because...? <<I'm in college, ande I have Ethernet. And a job. And an ex-girlfriend I have to create a GURPS world for by Sunday>>: This is way too much work for an ex. <<I instructed my campers in the finer points of terrorism>>: I'm not sure what's scarier: ME molding the minds of our nation's youth or YOU doing it. <<Has there been an unusual amount of quoting from that movie, or is it just me?>>: It is one of the greatest movies ever. <<playing with my sister's new ferret. Her name is Tipsy (the ferret, not my sister>>: Good, because if your sister was named Tipsy I might start calling her "mom" (mom's a funny drunk). <<I DID have to promise my soul to the US Government to the tune of ~$20,000 in college loans>>: SUCK. <<Given that their society seems to revolve around violence, I'd think the opposite would be true>>: They're not very bright, so we don't expect the finer qualities. No interesting metallurgical techniques, etc. <<I really, REALLY need to have words with whoever started this>>: And beat them senseless. ;-)

Fleur: <<Fortunately, adults generally don't get the itching - they just feel like something you'd flush>>: Chicken Pox can kill an adult...not to get you worried or anything. <<when the damn things get pussy>>: Pussy isn't so bad...oh, different pronunciation... <<I think I'll vacate my body while that happens>>: Trade it in for a better model. <<just when I think I've finally left newbie status behind, I prove myself wrong>>: There is ALWAYS someone who can call you a "newbie". Conversely, there is always someone you can impress with your "vast" knowledge. <<And there's the fun of experimenting. 'I know this works, but what would happen if I tried _this_?>>: Spoken like a true engineer. <<it's getting unnerving how many people think I'm a male... I'm NOT!! *Mental note: start mentioning skirts more, or something>>: Something. Its really hard to tell when you don't mention anything either way. I imagine one would have to be illiterate to think I was a woman from my posts. I think it IS the engineer in you that makes people think you're a guy. <<Not even a birthday suit?>>: That will be fine. <<Is there a shrine to you somewhere that we can add chocolate to?>>: She should post a PO box so we can send her some! <<I'm blue with a hint of red>>: Which means what? <<Only because I'm one of very few people who can actually get away with it>>: Okay, now we KNOW you're female.

DPH: <<Having morals is hard. At times, I swear the whole world wants me to lose them.>>: Bah. Morals were a waste of my teenage years. I'd have had much more fun if I'd dropped them sooner. Since then, my life's been much more entertaining.

Greg X: <<Morals are for sissys>>: Sing it, brotha! <<little weiner I called my conscience>>: No wonder it was protrayed by a cricket. <<I must return to my plans for global domination, and other amoral liasons>>: Me too. Like ways to get around the morals of others. <<It's only cheating if you get caught.>>: Spoken like someone who is NOT invited to our drinking games.

Winterwolf: <<Dreamie and Winterwolf slip into the room to pounce on each other>>: Take it outside, pervs. <<I was off with Dreamie in Seattle this past week for the best time of my life>>: ::begins porn riff:: <<We managed to take the color test that's been going around last week>>: You make it sound like some sort of sexually-transmitted disease. <<work is just being annoying with more to do than there are hours in the day for me>>: I know the feeling.

Ravyn: <<Darn right!>>: I pity Coyote ;-) <<better start studying for a vector calc quiz tomorrow morning>>: Bah. Vector Calc is a cakewalk.

Sorow: <<yes I am a nerd>>: Perfect... <<No frat parties yet. But the year is very young>>: An excellent philosophy.

Gside: <<Golden Ratio>>: You got it. <<You forgot toys>>: No I didn't. That falls under "silence". <<What does it stand for>>: Nothing. Nothing at all. Just implying that "geek" is derived from "EECS". <<Sleep well>>: Thanks, I will. <<A.K.A. ethernet>>: Contrary to poular belief, ethernet is NOT satisfaction by itself...though much can be gained from it. <<Do you remember my favorite long word>>: Homonecropyrobeastialacrophilia?

Okay folks, time to sleep. Though not for my Tower. Apparently sleep doesn't quite work in OS X yet, so I have to power the beast down for the night otherwise the cooling fan will wake up the dead.

Think positive. Sooner or later, everyone you hate will die. -Unknown

Imzadi> <<why all famous beautiful people have faces that conform to a certain shape>>: Golden Ratio?
<<What men want: food, sex, silence>>: You forgot toys.
<<Its implied>>: Close to what I wanted to know, but if I may rephrase: What does it stand for?
<<Wish me luck with classes tomorrow>>: Sleep well.

Warpmind> I forgot to tell you, I started burning stuff for you yesterday, but I probably won't finish until I get back to my dorm.
<<that half-orc in Castle Selbon>>: I am finally fully aware of all these Morganian references. Joy. (Actually, not all yet, but approaching half.)

Niamhgold> <<11 hours, thanks to NJ traffic>>: You're welcome. We've always disliked the Connecticut portion of the trip (two hours of almost nothing). Were you on the Turnpike?
<<What do you do if a guy wants everything?>>: They're too lazy to separate their wants into categories, and from our point of view, they are everything.
<<Upload? Posted? Wanna SEE!>>: I can't help but think the benefit for bystanders if you two would trade uploading pictures.
<<and satisfaction>>: A.K.A. ethernet.
<<I figured you a red, like me>>: Nah, too lazy. Though the not taken seriously and logical practical mind seems up my alley. Though I believe the last three in white and (a lazy approach to) the first and parts of the last in blue fit me.

Gunjack> Woot.
<<I have Ethernet in my room>>: Welcome to the dark side.
<<Along with the Hobbit and the complete Lord of the Rings>>: Nice. Mine could have acted out both with his fugures, but settled for instilling in me a complete summary, and letting us read on our own time.
<<Are we discussing Rasputin?>>: Yup. If you missed it, apparently I am his reincarnation.
<<The only downside is that the gun throws out a nasty backblas>>: It'd have to be, since your tank isn't absorbing any momentum.
<<Haven't done THAT in a while>>: So you did miss us.

Fleur> <<The name was trying to trigger some brain cells>>: If I hadn't memorized half the cast, a quick trip to IMDB would have done it without working any grey matter.
<<Thanks for giving it a hand>>: Not a problem.
<<just when I think I've finally left newbie status behind>>: Everyone gets their mad skills temporarialy removed on occaison.
<<Not even a birthday suit?>>: That's Wilek's shipment.
<<What is with college students and squirrels?>>: Do you remember my favorite long word?
<<Is there some secret war I'm missing out on?>>: Actually, yes.

The mp3 is not in its usual place. Since I found a couple songs I want on my own computer, I'm copying stuff to my eden account (with its larger quota). Therefore, if you replace the remus in my link with www.eden, you can find a bunch of stuff, plus the first version of I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrows from O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which is the official mp3 of this halfweek.

**Dreamie and Winterwolf slip into the room to pounce on each other**

Hi everyone! I was off with Dreamie in Seattle this past week for the best time of my life. I'll be looking to go back permanently soon. ^_^

A very Happy Birthday from both of us to everyone celebrating in the last two weeks.

We managed to take the color test that's been going around last week. I'm probably white with a strong secondary color blue and Dreamie is white with a weak secondary color blue.

Other than that work is just being annoying with more to do than there are hours in the day for me. Now it's nice when the day goes fast but not so nice when it goes 12 hours and I still have no end in sight. I just need to have more people I can put to work on my projects. ;)

I'm off for a little R&R. Later alligators! **Winterwolf picks up Dreamie to kiss and snuggle then they leave the CR**

**WORKSHOP**
Hmm. Today, I have learned that apparantly is not always the best policy according to corporate America. I attended a free workshop for people who were laid off at my company. Today, we worked on resumes. There I was told NOT to list months of employment, just years to make myself look better. That is lying, to me, by ommission of the complete truth.
**END WORKSHOP**

Having morals is hard. At times, I swear the whole world wants me to lose them.

**FARSCAPE**
Hmm. The 1st episode seemed a little rushed. Why were those aliens prisoners? Was that wormhole accidental or deliberate that took Critton?
**END FARSCAPE**

"Everybody knew his ultimate goal." - 1 google of cybercookies (yep, I'm risking that many) says no person in this CR can name the song where the exact opposite of that quote comes from. Hint: I am listening to that song right now. Of course, I'm offline while typing this portion of my post.

My new name is Spot. Why? Because what I thought was a simple flu is actually chicken pox. Fortunately, adults generally don't get the itching - they just feel like something you'd flush. And oddly enough, the worst of that seems to be over for me, so now I'm just sitting around watching the spots spreading slowly across my body. The legs have managed to put up a bit of a fight, but it looks like they're losing. Apparently, the real fun will begin when the damn things get pussy and burst. Yea. I think I'll vacate my body while that happens.

Gside> >Maybe you should hold off the thanks. They didn't seem to do much.< Hey, I'll take any I get and be grateful for them!
> Aeryn Sun from Farscape. < *watch the light bulb go on peoples, it's fun!* The name was trying to trigger some brain cells, but they were ignoring it. Thanks for giving it a hand. :)
>Works fine for me. Have you tried reloading to check against the cache?< You know, just when I think I've finally left newbie status behind, I prove myself wrong. ;) Well, at least I've now got something to do while I'm in isolation.

Josh> >I dunno, but by all means lets get 'em in the wrestling ring.< At this point, the Pox is winning, only on account of the fact that it's given me leper status. >How about just the variety that has sex all the time?< *L* More like the kind in a laboratory somewhere.. >Think I'm not!?< Keep at it. And hurry. :) >I'm good with pushing buttons. In general, I can read people well enough to know which buttons to press to get the desired results.< And there's the fun of experimenting. 'I know this works, but what would happen if I tried _this_?' >Are you?< You know, it's getting unnerving how many people think I'm a male... I'm NOT!! *Mental note: start mentioning skirts more, or something* :) >The seventh sign!< I think we're up to sign five hundred and thirty eight by now. :) >To find out that instead of a 17" flatscreen monitor, Apple accidentally shipped me Elizabeth Dushku. Oh, I did the colour test - I'm blue with a hint of red.

Warpmind> >It's not strange that Aslan walked funny, you know. He was lion all around Narnia. };)< *twitches* Oh god... bad pun, evil, bad pun, make it go away!! *shuddertwitch*

Ravyn> >Hi! :) I'll definitely say hello to Coyote for you. Thanks! :)< Has he found a home yet, or is the poor thing still living out of suitcase?

Jaden> >Give your friend my sympathies and make sure that he keeps his back straight when he sits down. ;P< I am an accomplished nagger when it comes to my 'big brother'. Only because I'm one of very few people who can actually get away with it. >:)

*Has a moment of silence for Aaliyah.* That's terrible. As for the Matrix 2, well, if they make Keanu Reeves look like a good fighter, then maybe they can do what was done with Brandon Lee in The Crow, and just use what they had, and fill in the rest with computers.

We had these big carboard 'cupboard' doors over our actual door, complete with 'snow' immediately inside. This is why she was my favourite teacher. :) >And as soon as I can scrounge up a three-man slingshot and a gallon of mashed taters from work, I'm gonna (literaly) smear some squirrels.< *LOL* What is with college students and squirrels? Is there some secret war I'm missing out on?

Okay, methinks it's time for me and my spots to go back to bed.
TTFN!

Warps><<Special ammo, like my Dante Custom's 20-gauge WP shotgun shells?>> Dang, but you obsess over those. I'm kinda moving toward a HE buckshot paradigm myself. Besides, who wants a 20 gauge when you can pack a 23-lb, 10 gauge, 4-inch-shell CAW System? Oh yeah, and it feeds from an 18-round, computer-controlled, motor-driven drum that can shuffle the ammo around automaticly depending on the situation, so you can switch from gyroc salvo shells to HE buck in a second with the touch of a button.

Abstract: I should have never watched "Mimic". For those of you that haven't seen it, it's a movie about six-foot cockroaches colonizing the sewers of New York City. It was a decent movie for the most part, but I still shouldn't have watched it. Because now, the Roaches are colonizing my brain.
It started innocently enough; I was working on a random RPG plot, and I wanted to include a nasty monster I've had rattling around in my head for about four years. Their called Spindlers, and they're tall, really thin, and tend to burst out of normal-looking humans with no warning. Sort a physical manifestation of the Malasian concept of "Amok". So anyway, the Spindler idea linked up with the Mimic paradigm, and what I ended up with was... Kinda icky, but otherwise cool. Big, wingless insects that inject a calcium-leaching venom into human corpses, and then crawl inside to use them as disguises. No, I hadn't watched MiB recently; in fact, I didn't notice the paralell until just now. Anyway, that woulda been all well and good... if it weren't for the fact that these things keep showing up in my dreams! Now THAT is NOT cool! Night before last, I had one of those nifty "three-year-long" dreams, in which the homeless shelter I was running was invaded not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES by giant, razor-limbed carnivorous insects led by some psionic criminal guy with a messiah/judas complex who WOULD NOT FREAKIN' DIE.
I love my reptilian cortex...

So, uh, yeah. I'm back, I'm in college, ande I have Ethernet. And a job. And an ex-girlfriend I have to create a GURPS world for by Sunday. And as soon as I can scrounge up a three-man slingshot and a gallon of mashed taters from work, I'm gonna (literaly) smear some squirrels.

Let's see, where'd we leave off? Ummm...

*************Overview of Summer***************
I went to A-Kon. Whee.
I went to Lain's. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I counseled at Camp Hunt in upstate New York. I killed my knees. I strung out small children on Mecha-GURPS. I listened to stories of the Wild Yeast and Lou the Constipated Jew (and his pet frog Gary). I nearly got fired for calling Lain on the camp business line, thus tieing it up at the precise moment when the directors were trying to communicate between camp and the hospital where a camper had been rushed after possibly breaking her foot. I instructed my campers in the finer points of terrorism. I finally got to see Fight Club (Has there been an unusual amount of quoting from that movie, or is it just me? o.O). My brother (finally) got a girlfriend. Whee.
I left camp, immediately got sick (prolonged stress suddenly released can do some NASTY things to you), and spent three days at home coughing up lungs and playing with my sister's new ferret. Her name is Tipsy (the ferret, not my sister). Whee.
Then school started.
I wasn't ever really in a position to notice before, but being a college student is one HECKUVA lot more fun than hanging out with college students. My professors are all great, My dorm is great (if somewhat seedy in repute; there's a reason why all surfaces but the ceiling are covered in tile...), homework is easily manageable, and I have Ethernet in my room. Let me repeat that last part. I HAVE ETHERNET IN MY ROOM!!! And there'll be NO LAG on Counterstrike!! And I didn't even have to sell my soul to Molech to achieve this! Though I DID have to promise my soul to the US Government to the tune of ~$20,000 in college loans... But who cares? That's TOMORROW!

Gunnery Catchup - I finished the Dovwer M7 and M10. The former is basicly a .357 snubby revolver, except that it's not a revolver. Instead, it's an autoloader that uses a blow-forward action to maintain the revolver's profile. The M10 is the (much bigger) .500 magnum version, with a longerslide travel and the magazine mounted forward of the trigger.
The Black Angel weapons system is almost finished; this one's a variable weapons system that can be assembled as a 10mm helical-mag personal defense weapon (basicly a heavy machine pistol), an 8.1mm light machine gun, and a 8.1mm hypervelocity liquid-propellent antimaterial rifle. That last one is about six feet long, and uses a multiple-chamber design that dates back to one of the Nazis' failed "doomsday weapons" in WWII. It'll put a 5.5mm DU penetrator through just about anything on earth.
I'm also working on an upgraded version of the indubitable Masamune Shirow's Napolean Minitank (AD Tank Police).

On to REPLIES!!

Fluer><<And about the Chronicles of Narnia miniseries - heard of them, and it's highly likely I've still got one or two of them on tape (Not Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, unfortuantely!)>> When I was a kid, my dad just read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe onto tape for us... Along with the Hobbit and the complete Lord of the Rings. Those were the days...

Gside><<Gotta admire a guy who won't give up.>> Are we discussing Rasputin? And, incidentally, they found his body still clutching the pilings of a bridge some distance downstream. Creepy, Ne'?

Warps(For real this time...)><<Actually, I'm pondering getting the Titan Eagle designed. It's a heavily armored car with a custom 25mm cannon on the roof, and hovercraft accessories, to boot.>> 25mm is pretty shrimpy, 'mano... Try a 120mm recoiless snub cannon; roughly the firepower of an Abrams (assuming you use HEAT or HESH warheads rather than DU Dart). The only downside is that the gun throws out a nasty backblast... <<Yeah, that +10 indestructible dancing sword looks sweet, but I've already got this Orcish one...>> Get a genji glove. Problem solved. And why does everyone assume that Orcs make bad weapons? Given that their society seems to revolve around violence, I'd think the opposite would be true... Maybe their weapons wouldn't be as graceful or elegent as elven work, but asthetics aren't everything. For proof, look at the AK-47...
Heh. I just thoughtfully critiqued something that had NO RELATION to the real world in ANY WAY. Haven't done THAT in a while... : P

Wilek - It is very, VERY, *VERY* good to hear from ya again, 'mano... gonna be dropping in more often?
<<I want Zone Of The Enders and Silent Hill 2...and Soul Reaver 2...and Shadowman 2...and Twisted Metal Black...OK, more than I thought, but I still flatly refuse to give them $300 for the thing...>> I am Jack's irrepresable glee. Guess what my roommate brought with him? ;D ...Now we just need a TV and a VCR, and we'll have every form of entertainment known to man... <<I call him Foofy.>> Have you been watching that "H.R. Giger's guide to Revelation" book again? o.O <<Verbing weirds language.>> With a little practice, you can make language a total impediment to understanding. <<Count me among the bitter ones. Men are so stupid. Why is it that so many of them care more about rutting than getting things done?>> Laddie, we REALLY need to have a LONG talk... <<I haven't either, and I fear that I don't have the option of doing so...>> Soomer or later, we DO need to have a Nereus Project meeting. And what better place for it than in the living room of a Socialist Agnostic Pacifist Canadian? ; ) <<That would be me, there goes the challenge. :P>> Me too. Well, I did the FIRST time I got it... <<I think; it's been a long time.>> It was the METEOR that was trying to publish a manuscript. The tentacle was just its gaurd/secretary. <<MOOCHIE-SNOOTCHIE-BOOTCHIE-GOOCHIES!!!! :D :D :D>> I really, REALLY need to have words with whoever started this... ; P ...But good to see you too! Let's blow something up!

FS><<My tri-barreled gun will be a combo rifle, grenade/morter launcher, shotgun!>> What's the point? Just get a nice 40mm recoiless cannon. With the right ammo, it can be ANY of those!

Lain - How's green, brown, and black for a tartan color? ; ) Camo has SO many uses! <<I think right now, a niiiiice waaaaarm gunjack in whose lap i could curl up and sleep would go a long way to making me feel better.>> 2.5monthstillthanksgivingholiday2.5monthstillthanksgivingholiday2.5monthstillthanksgivingholiday2.5monthstillthanksgivingholiday... : P <<unfortunately, his neck is in the process of turning red as he is at college in arkansas.>> A base allegation. Besides, my KNEES are what got sunburned over the weekend from hell, remember?

And that's all for THAT. Off to see if I can get counterstrike up and running!

Hello everyone. Well after one day of school I have decided absolutly nothing, which is probably good. I still have a science lecture at 6 so the day is almost over. I have succesfully secured my side of the room and have decorated it with pictures, drawings and my Religious Views of Life poster. Taoism: Sh!t Happens and so on and on. They all have one.
I also have updated my site and...

** Niamhgold enters...FINALLY **

Hey hey hey, back online. Woo-hoo, yippee, and finally :) First day of classes, setting up bank accounts, finishing off my room (like that didn't take eight years to do ;)). The drive down here was the worst (11 hours, thanks to NJ traffic). But I made it, and school is...school. To be expected. The only interesting thing is that a reviewer for comic books is coming by on October 4th to critique *any* Illustration major's portfolio. All the person has to do is submit a four-page sample a week ahead of time. Well, I guess I'll be busy and I can only hope for the best...but thinking of the worst, just to be prepared ;)

Replies!

Josh: <Apparently, my first post was Feb 22nd...which makes it just past 6 months I've been posting> Youngin'. Though it seems like more since you've been doing it every day in super-long world-record-length posts ;) <when I should be calling them "boom boom kitty f*ck"> Interesting decision. Who's responded positively to that? <Bluntman and Chronic themselves.> Hell yeah :) Man, the previews were hilarious...how could the movie _not_ be? Plus, he's got Mall Rats and Clerks as precedents :) <You are just eerily too much like me.> Get out of my head, get out of my head! ;) <Of course, if you had a mac it'd be a lot easier...but then you knew I was gonna say that> Yep. Although I think I could stand Macs that ran Virtual PC...;) <What women want: Everything. What men want: food, sex, silence. Not necessarily in that order> What do you do if a guy wants everything? <My roommate downloaded the face and we took pictures of each other and tried to fit the mask to our faces...obviously they didn't fit (apparently we're not beautiful - shocked, aren't you?)> So, where can I download it? I'm curious ;) And if you can't direct me, what's the basic shape/symmetry? Lemme guess...is it oval? <. I have class from 10-4 straight (no lunch break)..> Ouch, man...getting to be like my days. Actually, just like my days. I had a 9-3 today. Brief break so I could do some banking, but that's it. <Aliya died!? So now who's gonna do Matrix 2!?> You should've heard this kid named Dave freak out when he read that from the news site. Ten minutes of "God, no!!!". I felt bad for the poor guy, I really did! I just feel bad for the Matrix. It's going to suck big time, as if it wasn't already slated to do so after Keanu's little sabatacle ;)

Lynati: <(I spent the last two days drawing gargoyles. And figuring out the heights of all (the Lynartiverse version) of Clan Avalon.)> Upload? Posted? Wanna SEE!!! ;)

Christine: <hopefully, but possibly not, the new issue will be posted today. Got a lot of last-minute submissions and was out at the con all day yesterday> For once, it wasn't me! Can't wait to see the, uh, "creative" solutions to your challenge ;)

Sorow: <It feels weird not seeing my parents all the time, but very satisfying. I finally feel on my own! Later> Wow...didn't realize it was your first year! Yeah, it'll be strange at first, but you'll find your way. It's good to feel on your own. All you need is good music, some friends, and satisfaction. Keep us posted! (Or, at least, just keep posting in general ;))

Shadowrider: <:> I got your letter!> Yeah! I was wondering if it made it this time :) ** Grins **

Gside: <Colors: Pale blue (mostly white).> Really? I figured you a red, like me. Weird ;)

All I have time for for now, folks. Gotta do...art.
Adios!!!

Howdy, everyone. DAMN is writing for GURPS a dreary, drawn-out task... But it's gonna be oh! so rewarding, I wager. :)

Fire Storm: Special ammo, like my Dante Custom's 20-gauge WP shotgun shells? }:)

Josh: Talk to your lawyers? Naw, just mentioning it casually to you; no need to bother the lawyers with it. (You can't afford that much justice anyway.) As for those Weird Sisters, if they're TGS illustrations, I must have missed that/those particular episodes' graphics. If they're not, well, resolution could *definitely* have been better.

Christine: Well, there *was* that half-orc in Castle Selbon... wait, he used enchanted bracelets, or something... hmh... anyway, let's just crank it up to an enchanter with either a low knowledge of weapons, or a really, really sick sense of humor, huh? };)

Well, that about concludes the post. Cheerio, everyone.

Okay, I gotta get back to class now, I think they're done torturing the transfer students; now i's my class's turn.

::listening to Collective Soul's self-titled album::

Hey guys and gals

Did next to nothing today. I woke up at about 1, sat around, talked to my brother who just got back from camp (and help him set up his MP3 player).

Then I sat around some more.

At some point, I ate food. Then I watched this documentary on TLC hosted by John Cleese about the human face and why all famous beautiful people have faces that conform to a certain shape. My roommate downloaded the face and we took pictures of each other and tried to fit the mask to our faces...obviously they didn't fit (apparently we're not beautiful - shocked, aren't you?). But we had a blast photoshopping them and looking like Dr. Frankenstein meets Beverly Hills plastic surgery.

That was pretty much the highlight of my day. I also managed to sit around even more, take a couple of tech support calls, and eat more. I also rearranged my desk to accomodate the computer I don't have yet.

Classes start tomorrow, and I'm not sure if I should be excited or not. I don't think the semester is going to be particularly hard, but I don't think its gonna be very interesting either. We'll see, I guess. I have class from 10-4 straight (no lunch break)...and when I get back I'm sure I'll be too busy playing with my new toy to do any work (or eat).

And today I learned the following from Chris Rock:

What women want: Everything.

What men want: food, sex, silence. Not necessarily in that order.

On to replies!

Ordell: <<Have you (or anyone, for that matter) heard their new one, "Comfort Eagle">>: Hope. I wasn't big enough on the new single to buy it.

Smut pandering bitch queen of all creation: <<Titania's Secret Catalog>>: We can't wait.

Aliya died!? So now who's gonna do Matrix 2!?

Shadowrider: <<good to know you've been in my country>>: It was fun the first time, but the second time I was horribly ill the whole trip and didn't enjoy it at all. On top of which it was the hottest summer Italy had experienced in a century...ugh. <<you have a talent in hitting the weak point>>: So I'm told.

Gavin: <<Dante and Randell= bitch and butch>>: That explains a lot. <<what did you think of the most dangerous job in ancient egypt>>: When someone doesn't respond to something, that's usually akin to "uh, that's nice".

Lynati: <<I spent the last two days drawing gargoyles>>: God, I wish I could draw. <<I broke down and got a phonecard, so I can actually call people and talk to them instead of having to have them call me back and winding up paying the cost of a five hour long distance phone call>>: No kidding.

DPH: <<Microsoft Visual Studio>>: Okay, I'll check pricing the next time I'm there. Half in advance, half on delivery, half COD. ;-) <<It's not printing the middle of each line. Is it because my ink has dried up? If so, how damn often do I have to make a printout to avoid that problem>>: Try getting a new ink cartridge. If that doesn't fix it up, it may be time for a new printer. <<I have a 1995 PC still under warranty. Can anyone top that>>: That'd be cool except for the part about it being a 1995 PC. <<Would there be anything wrong with taking out life insurance on somebody when you know when they are supposed to die?>>: Nope, assuming no one can suspect you of murder.

Sorow: <<college news>>: Been going to frat parties? Get hit on by juniors trying to take advantage of naive wide-eyed freshman girls?

Galvatron: Is there a reason you feel the need to post things in here that we don't discuss and that no one cares about?

Gside: <<Tau Beta Pi? Engineering honors frat?>>: No, not that either. I don't know what its supposed to be. <<I live the town over from the Stash. Want me to get you anything>>: That's alright. <<Can I answer it>>: Nope. <<Where'd the g come from>>: Its implied ;-) <<50000 words... Why does she have to use half of them on me?>>: That whole "gift of life" thing. I told my parents they could have it back.

Okay guys time to crash. Wish me luck with classes tomorrow.

If you do that again, I will be forced to hurt you with extreme prejudice.

Imzadi> <<Tau House (no, not a frat)>>: Tau Beta Pi? Engineering honors frat? Do they have your initates polish the big brass key, bent, whatever the heck that trapezoidal type thing is every year for orientation?
<<No, but boy would I like them!>>: I live the town over from the Stash. Want me to get you anything?
<<How stupid do you think I am? Don't answer that>>: Can I answer it?
<<Who will change the calendar to match?>>: Probably Lady Mystic, or whoever gets her job should she decide to step down.
<<gEECS>>: Where'd the g come from?

DPH> <<Is it because my ink has dried up?>>: I'd say more that you're running out of ink.

SOROW> <<And my parents are calling me everyday>>: That'll taper off, but the length of the less frequent calls will make up of the greater period (50000 words... Why does she have to use half of them on me?).

Slow day.

"Why was the station destroyed in the last episode?"

Because they didn't want to abandon it to scavengers or to pirates and yet they couldn't get the money to maintain it because it was no longer important!

"What was the point of having Sinclair there for the 1st season? Was that part of the planned storyline? "

Yes! Unfortuately the executives wanted Sinclair's actor fired and JMS complied! So JMS gave the Sheridan character much of the story arc that was for Sinclair. So basically Sakai was going to be Anna Sheridan and Sinclair was suppose to become Valen at the end of the 5 years. Sheridan would probably still establish the ISA!

"Ok, what really happened to Sheridan in the end?"

Lorien took him beyond the rim where the Shadows, Vorlons, Walkers(, the Celestials, Watchers, Guardians, Controllers, Zamarons, Organians, Vok, the Children of Oberon)and all the other first ones were!

Was he supposed to come back later?

Was King Arthur suppose to come back from Avalon to England in its worst moment? Was Jesus suppose to walk the Earth again? I think it's a matter of faith.

"Are there any sites out there dealing with Monster Rancher?"

Cartoon info? If so go to the monster rancer boards at monster-rancher.com and ask! Another thing the third season suck.

Rant

You know JMS said that Babylon 5 was suppose to answer three questions. Who are you which was the question of the Vorlons and Minbari and the first question. Why are you here which was Lorien's question and the middle one a mixture of Who are you and what do you want. What do you want which is the question of the humans and Shadows, but I think Babylon 5 answered why are you here the best. It said that we were here to build for a greater future and that we would outlive our world and our sun.

Is all this understandable?

**BATTLEBOTS**
I was thinking (scary thought) that if they showed 26 hour long shows of battlebots, and each show had 6 battles, that they could only show 156 battles. Assuming they split the battles out roughly equal with each weight class, that amounts to 39 battles per weight class. Ok, 1+2+4+8+16=31 battles (the last 5 rounds of tournament). Those battles are shown because they are the finals. That leaves roughly 8 battles for the 6th round (counting the last battle as the 1st round, the 2 before that as the 2nd round). If they were to air 52 1 hour shows, we'd get all the 6th round and up plus 15 battles from the 7th round. Sorry, but I want to have battlebots on every night of the week, so I could finally catch the only multibot's fights.
**END BATTLEBOTS**

Imzadi - The product is called Microsoft Visual Studio. I do NOT want the upgrade, I want the full package.

Did I mention that yesterday, my brother and I cleaned out this room - the computer room in my house? I can't believe how much empty space there is now.

Ok, computer tech heads - I have problems with my printer/fax/copy. It's not printing the middle of each line. Is it because my ink has dried up? If so, how damn often do I have to make a printout to avoid that problem?

Speaking of my brother, he was telling me that the computer I was using ran out of warranty. I had to remind him that *I* renewed that warranty a couple of years ago. I have a 1995 PC still under warranty. Can anyone top that?

3=(-1)+(-1)

Lynati - you figuring out the heights of your Avalon clan reminds me of when I was figuring out the graphics for a game of Blackjack written for a TI-85. Working out those equations was a little challenging. I still have most of the program, if anyone wants it. I guarantee that, if it works, it has the best possible computer opponent [of course, I programmed the opponent to look at the next card before deciding to hit or stand; I didn't give it the option of splitting.].

**Time Travel**
If I managed to time travel and had the means of preventing my mom's death, I'd have to do some heavy thinking about alternate timelines. I'd be more inclined [on second thought] to take out $10-20 million in life insurance on my mom with the specification that half went to my dad, 1/4 to my brother, and 1/4 to me. Since I turned 18 a few weeks after my mom's death, there would be no trust fund set up for me. Would there be anything wrong with taking out life insurance on somebody when you know when they are supposed to die? Worst Case scenario: my mom's cancer is discovered a year earlier than it was originally detected.

Josh:>Well, good to know you've been in my country (BTW, I suppose one of the cities you mentioned is Positano...). <wake up early> Hmm...you have a talent in hitting the weak point, isn't it? Early wake ups are the part of the military service I mostly dislike...

See everyone next week, except for unprevided events.

Spacebabie> That is sad to hear about Aaliyah and her plane crash...from what I remember, she was also set to play a character in "The Matrix 2" ... I think even something like Morpheus' old love interest, if I remember right. Moment of silence for her...it's sad when anyone passes on.

Retook the test. I'm White with Blue as a strong secondary color.

A moment of silence for Alyhia. She is a famouse singer and actress, was in the movie "Romeo must die". She died in a plane crash.

Warpmind > could be, just not in my game-world; orcs have no magical abilities, and shamans have some powers but no enchantments. Magic's mostly an elf thing ; )

Green Baron > ran the game set in Emerald Deep yesterday. The party was most impressed by Lord Verdant's lakeside mansion, and especially with the bevy of beauties lounging in the garden as well as the young and buxom household staff ... ; )

Avalon Mists > hopefully, but possibly not, the new issue will be posted today. Got a lot of last-minute submissions and was out at the con all day yesterday. Much good stuff coming up -- two Fanfic Debuts, three Fiction Features, lots of nifty art, and of course the Titania's Secret Catalog, which turned out very well indeed! Stay tuned!

Josh> <<Listening to Cake's "Prolonging the Magic"::>> That's a great freakin' album. Have you (or anyone, for that matter) heard their new one, "Comfort Eagle"? It's as good as any of their other ones.

Can't believe I missed top ten. That hasn't happened it the last few weeks.

I got my Buffy comics in the mail yesterday. They were some back issues that I missed, including the Willow and Tara one shot, the third Spike and Dru one shot, issue 28 of the main series, and issue two of the Oz miniseries. I suggest the Oz mini (though you can probably wait until the trade) for any Buffy fan, as it's one of the most well written media tie ins I've read in a while, and the art is top notch. It's written bu Chris Golden, whose is like the Buffy-god when it comes to the novel and comic tie ins.

I saw "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" Friday. It's hard to pick out my favorite Kevin Smith movie, as they each have their own feel to them that's hard to distinguish. I loved all the refrences to the other films, and the whole Daredevil movie thing. Anyone not reading Smith's Green Arrow run needs to. I grew up on that character, and he writes it better than Chuck Dixon ever could (and Dixon did a damn fine job).

Sci-Fi Channel pissed me off. First, they skip a key episode of season 5 Babylon 5 to show (shock) a special episode of Exposure. But they redeem themselves quickly by putting on "Earth: Final Conflict" and "Now and Again," both of which I get hooked on immediatley. Then, after two weeks and eight episodes, they take off "Now and Again" for their episodes of "The Outer Limits." I couldn't find a reason for it. I mean, they payed money for it, and it's only one season. EFC is excellent as well, although everyone tells me it gets ultra crappy after season one. Anyone here have on opinion on that?

They are going to show Farscape from the beginning starting on Monday, so anyone who hasn't seen the series should check that out. The last season (the one with the ongoing story arc) has been some of the best TV I've seen in a while.

Okay... I gotta go now, and I can't really think of anything else to say. Go see "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back."

::Listening to Cake's "Prolonging the Magic"::

Hey folks! How goes it?

Busy day for me, relatively speaking. I woke up around quarter to 1 and tried to deal with DirecTV, since we discovered that some of our channels aren't coming in right all the time. They gave me something to try, and it worked...briefly. I was back on and they didn't help me. The THIRD time I called, they informed me that I need a repeater/splitter AT THE DISH instead of just a splitter somewhere down the line. I wish they'd told me that the FIRST time I was looking into getting a 2nd receiver.

We also went to Safeway. Our kitchen is now FULLY stocked, and with good planning it'll be a month before we have to go out and get more stuff. We've got all kinds of cool stuff so Mike can cook to his heart's content. Having a roommate that cooks is AWESOME. Not that I couldn't do it myself...I just wouldn't. I can live off microwave pizzas and stuff forever, and there's no dishes to wash.

We also hit the bookstore and I returned one of the books that I bought...wiped nearly $120 off my phone bill. That was pretty cool. We went to the poster store to see if there was anything cool; no dice. So I put my Titanium Powerbook poster and a Map of the Getty on my wall instead.

Tomorrow is Sunday, and Monday is the day...that my Tower will arrive...with it I'll play...

Identify the song that I just modified, and the correct lyrics.

We finally managed to get together with our friend Maneesh over in Tau House (no, not a frat) and he hung out with us most of the day. I explained to him my theory about Kevin Smith movies being the perfect date movies. He wholeheartedly agreed.

Mike and I are eventually reaching the point where we're just gonna let the bunny channel run 24-7. I mean, what else matters?

On to replies!

Shadowrider: <<Through the TV I got the impression that racing is very popular there, but I could be wrong>>: It is, but only in certain parts of the country with certain social classes. <<You've been in Italy? Really? Hey, I didn't imagine it. May I ask you where exactly you were, and when?>>: I was there twice, once when I was 8 and once when I was 12. At 8 I took a trip with my then best friend, whose father was a movie director and owned a castle in a city whose name I don't remember. We were also in Pozzitano and Pompeii and Rome. When I was 12 I went with my family as part of a trip for my bar mitzvah. We stayed in Venice, Pozzitano, and Rome again. I can't say I remember much of the trip. <<I had no choice, since here military service is still compulsory>>: Ugh. I'd move to Canada. Anyone who wants to wake me up early and make me run is no friend of mine!

Gavin: <<do you have the Jay and Silent Bob action figures?>>: No, but boy would I like them! <<Clerks: The animated Series>>: Is that actually the work of Kevin Smith? <<J&SBSB made reference to something that happened in the animated series>>: What was it?

Tara: <<Without Gavin, I would have missed out on a lot of things out there in the world>>: Good that the two of you can expose each other to new stuff. That's important. <<I hate my life, but only because of where and what state I live in>>: Don't we all. <<Could you put up your link to your website of your art work, if you do any that is. I saw the icon thingy today and want to see more>>: You're new here, so I'll explain this slowly: the icons ARE my artwork. I take other peoples' works and turn them into little pics for use on a Mac. Artists from this CR include Niamhgold, CrzyDemona, and Dreamie (though there are others).

Smut Pandering bitch queen of all creation: <<boiled it on purpose>>: Of course not. How stupid do you think I am? Don't answer that.

Baldy: <<I can have two similar ones built; with slightly different interior and stats>>: I can settle for that. <<the world was created some six thousand years ago, or something, with rocks that were artificially aged in advance>>: I didn't say they were artificially aged, they just appear that way ;-) <<neat new icons! I'm such a hunk>>: Lain seems to think so. <<Manxine does, technically, belong in the Fanfic category>>: Talk to my lawyers. <<WHERE did you get those scantily-clad-looking Weird Sisters, anyway?>>: Not telling. But if you haven't figured it out by now, you're not very bright. ::winks at artist::

FS: <<50% of my classes were canceled>>: Oh, if only t'were me. <<right after I bought my book. Figures, eh>>: No returns? <<5 PCI slots... grab the 4 USB/2 1394 cards. Hmm... 22 USB ports, 12 1394s>>: Um, 4 USB and 2 FW would be 20 USB and 10 1394...oh, plus the ones built in. But THEN you get 126 more USB devices from the back of your apple monitor... Yeah, its a lot of space. <<How much storage capacity did they estimate the human brain has>>: Depends on the human ;-) <<Buy a rack>>: If I had a rack I'd never leave the house ;-) <<she has to think some>>: Okay, but no more than any other woman ;-) <<With biologicailly corrected and capable DLD's>>: Then I can live without them. <<Just set it and forget it>>: Does it come with a built-in George Forman grill!? <<Top 230, baby!>>: You're in the Berkeley group? I was in team MacAddict before I gave up (which is really high, as I recall). Let my processors sleep at night, even if I can get 4 hours blocks. <<Quad speakers, or only the 2>>: I've got 2 and a sub (Monsoon M-700 setup) right now on my laptop, but I'm thinking I might do the quad+sub setup I've got when I get my tower in. <<I am getting a 5.1 Dolby setup for my computer>>: You must be a gamer. <<To me it will ALWAYS be a IEEE 1394 port>>: That's nice. <<The white/grey skin! The hair! The CORSETS>>: The last of course being the most important.

Sorow: <<I didn't want to get lost on the first day>>: Yeah, my roommate and I did that freshman year. After that you learn your way around pretty fast. <<It's really hard making new friends when everyone is busy moving in>>: Make sure you go to all the mixers. They're important.

DPH: I haven't looked at that MS product you wanted yet, but I will next time I'm at the student store. I'll get you a price...what was the name of the product? <<Growing up was rather. . unpleasant for me>>: Join the club. Growing up sucks period. <<I would have split the company into 3 divisions: Application software, operating systems, and internet resource division>>: No you wouldn't. Bill Gates is doing what any American would do in his shoes: trying to get MORE money. I would buy into microsoft if I could go back in time, but I certainly wouldn't try to own it/dismantle it. Even if I became a huge apple fan, by this point I'd have sold most of my stock and I'd have enough money to deal without microsoft somewhere. <<sometime in the future you will have to go online to access your word processor, your spreadsheet program, etc>>: Yes, but that has nothing to do with splitting the company. That's the future of program use, sadly. <<As far as cars goes, I want speed, speed, and more speed. BTW, did I mention I want my car to be able to outrun yours>>: You'll have to duke it out with my parents' cars. <<The personality test works with only Internet Explorer. That sucks>>: Oh, get over it. You use windows, open your copy up. <<When is Pokemon supposed to die>>: Not soon enough, unfortunately.

Galvatron: Where the hell did that come from?

Jaden: <<Why do they have to be so short?>>: I agree. We should work on the weekends instead of during the week. <<Guarding a gate while others fire their m16s>>: Lucky. (them). <<This isn't the CR I'm looking for...Hey wait a minute...uh never mind>>: That's what I thought. <<I've lost the address to the spark tests what is it again>>: thespark.com

Gside: <<I believe it's more of an anniversary type calendar, rather than a marker of things to come>>: I'd hardly call that relevant. There will be years after 2001, despite what the Catholics may think. Who will change the calendar to match? <<I've heard Emacs is quite fully featured (some claim overly so)>>: I'll take your word on it. No pun intended. <<Things will stop moving>>: LOL no kidding. Unless they turn into "Galloping Girdie" <<You're not a CE, I am. You're a CivE>>: Quiet, gEECS <<You pay like ninety bucks for it. I get to keep like four.>>: That's $4 more than he would have had if we used someone else's books. Even if its only $100 a semester, that's still a motivation. <<You heartless suffocator>>: I got over it. No, maybe not. <<The Cambridge dictionary sides with me>>: Oxford kicks cambridge's butt. And lobster sticks to magnet. <<Perhaps I should look into packet spoofing>>: Or just string a cable from your dorm window. <<Don't worry, I understand>>: I knew you would.

Okay folks, its 2AM. After In-And-Out and American Psycho, I think its sleepy time.

Imzadi> <<Who will change the calendar graphics each year?>>: I believe it's more of an anniversary type calendar, rather than a marker of things to come.
<<Are you saying that linux doesn't have a word processor that is compatible with word>>: I've heard Emacs is quite fully featured (some claim overly so).
<<I hope the rest of my civil engineering career isn't like this>>: Nope. Things will stop moving.
<<my fellow CE majors>>: You're not a CE, I am. You're a CivE.
<<I don't blame the profs for using the class to pad their wallets>>: "You pay like ninety bucks for it. I get to keep like four." -Roy Yates, His situation as the author of a college textbook
<<I boiled a goldfishy once>>: You heartless suffocator.
<<I'm sure they'll live to regret that decision>>: As am I.
<<I've got a large thumping muscle in my chest that would disagree>>: The Cambridge dictionary sides with me.
<<240!? I use that up before breakfast! And I sleep through breakfast!>>: Luckily, my standard browsing is under the limit, and I have found a way around the limit for files under 90ish megs (rutgers servers are free). Perhaps I should look into packet spoofing.
<<I need to go change my pants>>: Don't worry, I understand.
