Is it possible for you to maybe email the info?>> oh.. my.. GAWD!!! by ALL THATS HOLY!!! NOOOOOO!!!! could you imagine? a threesome with king arthur and the olsen twins and vibrating nintendo gamecube controllers? yikes.. THATd be a new look for TGS... ;)

**************TGS rant************
todds right though. TGS really DOES need new recruits. judging by the recent activity on the list, there are about 6 members who are doing anything. seeing as how theres supposedly 33 members subscribed to the list.. thats pretty darned pathetic. i wonder what the heck the other 27 are doing..
so in short.. if anyone wants to join, be prepared for the comittment. dont just join cos you want the spoilers. :P

and if all of you, with your busy lives, were trying to put out a season of gargs (which, ive found, requires quite a bit more organization and planning than id previously ever imagined) on top of everything else - and with that little help, i think YOUD be lagging behind, too.

all of us who are working are working darned hard. its just very slow going. why? well, i suppose a lot of the staff were hoping, for a long time, that the newbies who had left would come back out of the woodwork and start helping. but they havent. i think it took awhile for everyone to realize what was (or wasnt) going on. and then a little longer to resign themselves to having to do everything themselves. so they work, and then, if someone has a RL issue or a computer issue or whatever.. theres noone to cover for them, and the wait continues. so lets not all hop on the critical bandwagon till weve tried the other side, eh?
***********end rant************

yea
so now im tired.
time for sleep.

Imzadi- Then who are you concerned with about?

BTW Happy 6th of July! (Hey the 4th can't get all the attention, the others will get jealous)

Well gotta go. See you soon.

Imzadi> <<Now why can't I get girls to tell me that?>>: They're not drunk enough. Or insane enough. Same thing.
<<I think we need to be more prepared for actual virgins>>: And so far, I'm both.
<<Careful, though, he might like that>>: Evil laugh.
<<Hey, Amazon got, one-click. Which is *almost* not doing something>>: It's jsut about the same degree of not doing something. But I do question the validity of that patent.
<<I think they just kept trading around till they got it right>>: Then who should I trade with?
<<no>>: You sure? I could explain it? Pretty well, I think.
<<give her obscure metric units. Newtons or something>>: But I'd have to look up the kms/imperial conversions, and I already know 32f/s/s off the top of my head.
<<Would he ask you if he did?>>: I do have ice cream groupies. An I might be able to steal a couple off Willie Nelson if I try.
<<Make them yourself?>>: But I don't know of another easily obtainable source of magnesium.

IX9> <<But, uh what do you think of Mac OS X?>>: Mikey likes it.
<<Another DB fan. Hmm to find one is so rare>>: Original flavor, I take it. I thought there were many Z people out there. By the way, ever seen Dr. Slump?

Niamhgold> <<Concerning popsicles...now THERE'S the not-so-innocent thought track>>: So you like it cold? Going to be heading over to the undead quarter's red light district?
<<You remind me of my friend Ivanny (only taller)>>: He must be pretty ugly.
<<how's your brother's artwork progressing?>>: Not too well. Now he's in Philly working at a sign shop and helping to take care of his daughter. But he seems to want to open a tattoo parlor, and has done a couple things for bands.
<<...And suddenly, all the chicks in the CR start migrating to NJ to meet Gside>>: While I won't complain about that, what does it have to do with the Pledge of Alegiance brainwashing kids into being patriotic?
<<Someone will have to lick you to find out>>: But who? You? Imzadi?
<<Thanks for the AIM name>>: You're welcome. Any particular reason you want it? And I don't think I know yours.
<<or "Wet", as I think Gside offered>>: I believe that was the name of the brand.

Siryn> <<and try to keep up with the CR this time>>: Hope you do.

Again, we're really sorry about just how delayed the new season has been. The big trouble is this:

1. The recruitment drive last year (early 2001) did not go well. Almost everybody who signed up left without telling anyone - just deserted without any sense of commitment to the project. So that leaves us with pretty much the same staff size as it was before the recruitment drive.

2. A lot of our writers and edits people got so bogged down with RL business (work, school, etc.) that it took them a lot longer to write the episodes (and get them ready for release) than they'd anticipated; this was especially the case since we wound up with a small Writing/Edits staff due to the aforesaid recruitment drive going poorly.

3. The Heads of the Writing and Edits Department were particularly so overwhelmed by RL duties that they've been unable to enforce deadlines, which helped ensure that the stories would be turned in late.

Again, we're extremely sorry about all of this; we hadn't expected that things would be so slow this season.

This, by the way, is (we hope) something of a lesson to our potential future recruits: if you join TGS, you really have to make a commitment to it. It's not something that you can just walk away from after you get bored with it a couple of days into it. Leaving it because you've got a lot of RL responsibilities is perfectly all right and commendable. Leaving it just because of a lack of interest in sticking it out isn't.

Meef..

Greetings..from..KOREA!! (Or actually..Corea..depending on which spelling you wish to use)

Meef..yeah..mainly posting just to let people know I'm okay and stuff..and I'll be coming back to chat more agin. O.o;; (and try to keep up with the CR this time..O.o;;)

Leo> Ummm you still didn't get my email? O.o;; I said it was okay. Thankyou for giving me credit. ^_^ I appreciate it.

Men are always a(#&($&(*#$ to draw. :P ;) hehe

Mooncat> (re comment) I am? ^_^;; That's good..I think? ^_^ (nah, seriously I am flattered, I'm glad I make good impressions. O.o;;)

Kai> I need your snailmail addy....cause ummmmmm..well I can't say. Don't worry I'm not stalking you or lexy. :) I just wanted to send you both something. ^_^

Meef...my throat is very sore...my mum was kind enough to let me know (this morning) she had been sick for a while...great. -_-;;

Seoul is beatiful, (even more so since its done up for the world cup) I felt a little awkward yesterday..its not every day you walk into a busy burger king, starving, then do a total 180 because you're too scared you'll either A. Mess up on the little Korean you know. B. The people working their won't know enough english to understand you..and since you don't know enough korean..makes for embarressing situations.

Especially if the mall is very busy and crowded. O.o;;

I *LOVE* asrial..she's my fav tgs character..(just above sata) hehe. :D

Hope everyone had a fun time at the gathering. ^_^;;

I've got a first draft of my Gathering gallery online. Still waiting for one more roll of film to be developed. I think I might add comments to the pics soon - if I find the time.

And I noticed: I never even scanned my pics from 2001 (LA). Shame on me. If I find 'em in the chaos I call home, I will scan and post 'em, even if I'm late by a year :)

** Niamhgold enters quickly **

Oh, blessed thunderstorms! I don't usually sweat when I sleep (er...), but for the past week, the 95 degree heat during bedtime just *wasn't* cutting it ;)

I went to fireworks in the park last night, expecting to see no one...and pretty much had a graduating class reunion. I'm glad these people actually talk to me now, not all snobby like they were in HS. Found out that our class valedictorian (and a good friend) wigged out and tried to commit suicide. Eek. And the kid I'd had a good crush on for many years there is working as assistant fire chief...he's probably the only one still looking good from our class. Sadly. But everyone else is healthy, and seemingly happy. Which is all you can really ask for, I guess.

As for me...eek, need to pack and buy stuff for this extended trip! I'll be gone long enough to need to do some bigger art pieces, and I'm trying, for my host's sake, to keep things down to a minimum. Maybe the biz cards I'm making for them will help ;)

And thank you to anyone who bought my artwork at Gathering...I'd love to know who bought what, so I can thank you properly. ::hugs to all::

Replies (as best I can):

Revel: Concerning Photoshop 7.0, I'm holding out with 6.0 because there's really not THAT large of a reason to upgrade for the cost of it (of course, it depends if you're Mac or PC). The only really "cool" new thing in 7.0 is the healing brush, which means touching up photos becomes less of a hassle. But, if it's coloring and image scanning that you're into...you could stick with 6.0 and be perfectly content ;)

Spacebabie: <What's on your mind?> Well...concerning bananas, it'd be monkeys. Concerning popsicles...now THERE'S the not-so-innocent thought track :) Speaking of which, www.purplemonkey.com is a wicked cool web design company. The only colored monkey that doesn't exist is greenmonkey.com. WTF? <Nearly mis read that, of course why would AA want to pick you up?> Because they'd be Alcoholics Advocates, berating him for NOT drinking enough ;)

Todd: Darn it...two years ago and I would have been happy to help out with Pendragon. Sadly, RL sucks.

Gside: <You have seen my picture, right?> Yes, I have. You remind me of my friend Ivanny (only taller). On a totally unrelated subject...how's your brother's artwork progressing? <No, but it might help with brainwashing> ...And suddenly, all the chicks in the CR start migrating to NJ to meet Gside ;) <That still says nothing about me> Someone will have to lick you to find out. Thanks for the AIM name.

Imzadi: <Not that I'm counting or anything> Yeah, why would you need to do that? <They make some digital audio editing program> I need to get into sound editing, too...hmm, ever closer to the mac & PC household. <Apple is starting to make it very difficult to do anything creative on anything other than a mac. Current speculation is that 3D Studio Max is next> I wholeheartedly disagree. First of all, had never heard of Emagic, and neither have the sound editing department or my friends, so it's no biggie if the Windows version is to be discontinued. And I'd have heard of it if it could stream edited audio with Flash (which is the basis for editing software now, because Flash audio is difficult to sync). Secondly, I have not had *any* difficulty in being creative on my PC. So, to say that Apple is making it difficult to do anything creative on any machine other than a mac is unfounded. I'd need to see it happen, first. ;-) <Not all vibrators require a "size". And even if you pick one that does...just guess> I wonder if there's any leniency in their return policy... <And I've seen my reflection> Darn. You AREN'T a vampire, then :( <Need a roomie?> Always accepting applications ;) <Where?> Northern California. <Tomorrow morning is my practice LSAT exam, out in B.F. Palo Alto. Think happy thoughts.> Oh, this is going to be tough... ::Happy Thoughts:: ...whoo, I'm worn out. <Don't worry, she isn't> As one could probably tell from the flavored KY conversation (or "Wet", as I think Gside offered). In any case, I think that most people can benefit more from my horrendous dirty mind than my being innocent ;) Bwwahahahahaha

Greg: <we set up the big gun fight with all the Nerf weapons> Sweet! Since that's going to be official...how about official Jell-o wrestling? ;) <Heh, she's come over to the dark side, and she's in good company> Bwhahahahahaha.

Adios!

Greg, Mara, and/or Aaron> For those who were unfortunate not to be able to attend the Gathering this year....
Is early registration available for ya'lls? If I make the commitment now, I am less likely to back out of going when the time comes... not that I plan on doing that, but one never knows what mood I'll be in. *rambling*
Anyway, who what where and when for registration for G03?

IX9 and Josh> yeah, he's a poopy-head sheriff man and wouldn't let me send that headline to the paper. 8) As if that would have been as bad as what the paper DID print about it (on their own and not from our office) They referred to his prothestic leg as a "peg leg" *L*

Kathy> "honking difference" ?? LMAO I've never heard the word honking used like that! It cracks me up!
Got your email and thanks!! for a number of reasons :)

drats, I have to go to the office now. The guy who is doing his community service hours there is in need of further guidance... i.e. I need to make an additional list of "to do" items. dorks.
Ohwell, I'll go see how the inmate is doing since he's been moved to "the hole" aka drunk tank. He's been extremely aggressive towards the jailers (verbally) and as a result, he was moved. I hope he's lost his voice by now from yelling profanities all day yesterday. He punched the wall several times with his fist and then complained because there was blood in his cell... well, d'uh. Sheriff told him to clean it himself (he was demanding that someone come clean it up) and to use toilet paper (when he complained that he had no cleaning supplies). This guy is here on a change of venue for murder - open and shut case too.
He's always been nice and polite with me, but I'm sure he'd do considerable amount of harm if I ever made him mad and he wasn't behind bars. He's pissed off because his favorite jailer was fired. He was fired for breaking a whole lot of rules and most of the rules broken were for Ron's benefit (the inmate). Life and times in the county jail... As the Stomach Churns... Revel:Re Photoshop 7.0

Still doing ok with 6.0 (6.01). The screen shots on the back of the 7.0 box look interesting though. I don't remember any new features that I just had to have. I'm not buying it if it doesn't upgrade from 5.0 (My first full fersion)

Added some new graphics to my site. Still only have costume pics for now.

A small question for my fellow Photoshop addictted users out there. Who has heard or read anything about PS 7.0? I'm a bit reluctant to even look at it right now since it seems a bit rushed. If memory serves me on occasion 6.0 came out only about two, maybe two and a half years ago. Just wanted some feed back before looking any farther into it.

Grrrr. I hit a snag in my analysis of tunnel plating in the RCCV. It gets halted until I can discuss it with my advisor on monday. Did some other work sorta, barely managed to keep busy. But hey, at least I was able to snag the RealMyst Demo 8-)

I can't believe I just finished my 5th week. Only 6 more to go.

Tomorrow morning is my practice LSAT exam, out in B.F. Palo Alto. Think happy thoughts.

Lain: <<STUPID MORON IDIOT KITTEN just FELL OUT OF MY FRIKIN WINDOW>>: HAHA! The defenestration of B.F. Canada 8-) <<THE SCREEN DOESNT FIT PROPORLY>>: Why don't you get a new screen? <<i dont know how the FRELL she got up there with all that stuff on the sill>>: She's a cat. That's what they do. <<landed on a car hood two floors down>>: Damn! That's quite a fall! <<do i have to put barbed electrical wire on my window sill for crying out loud?>>: Get a bug zapper ;-) <<now shes all snuggly>>: Awwww. Nothing is cuter than snuggly cats. I have two back in LA.

Jan: <<She'd giggle and squeal, "I'm not wearing any panties!">>: Now why can't I get girls to tell me that? <<sheriff wouldn't let me put the heading as "Drug mule caught with meth; doesn't have a leg to stand on">>: Don't let him spoil your fun 8-) <<The manager there didn't have any idea of what I was talking about>>: If he was a rocket scientist, he wouldn't be a manager at a disney retail store ;-)

Kathy: <<they tend to over identify with animals getting castrated and wimp out for just that reason>>: My legs clamped together just thinking about it.

Kaioto: <<leaving the rest of us to sit and spin>>: That's such a great expression. <<Dow at under 9,000 is like the grand-daddy of all computer-guided "Buy" commands>>: Seriously. Everyone jumped. <<I was really hoping I'd have a few more weeks to try and get an IRA contribution at those prices>>: That's not a bad idea. There's still some stock that's undervalued, maybe I'll put my fledgeling retirement fund towards that. <<my IRA just wasn't meant to start this summer>>: I'm glad I sacrificed Gathering to start my Roth. <<OLD) when on the plane back from the Gathering, you start kicking yourself for not getting a tax-receipt>>: I don't do anything without thinking about how to write it off 8-) <<post-Gathering Mini-Golf>>: ACK! I want! <<Gargs-Fans like free crap>>: Mostly because we're poor.

Spacebabie: <<Prepare the offering table folks another Con Virgin is ready for sacrifice>>: I think we need to be more prepared for actual virgins. <<Ours makes more sense. 36 is a small number compared to 96>>: No, its small*er*. A factor of 1/3 is not considered "small". Usually an order or two of magnitude is "small". <<everything is bigger in Texas. And I was born in Texas>>: Everything? Even Alaska? <<If I have to pick you up and carry you there I will>>: I have no doubt that you could. Careful, though, he might like that. <<unless she is innocent>>: Don't worry, she isn't. <<since I wasn’t looking at girls I did notice>>: Well why not!? <<Maybe for my Brithday>>: You're getting a mac for your b-day? Cool.

Warpmind: <<I seem to have acquired a groupie>>: You can probably get her to do perverted things 8-) <<Adorable is my middle name>>: Mine is Grey. My brother says his is "Careful" <<unlike Macs, PCs don't have the "One Size Doesn't Quite Fit All" issue to the same extent>>: Not sure what you mean. Do you mean they're not as configurable?

Leo: <<now stuck with a stupid AOL banner>>: Grrr. I hate AOL. <<it's always fun when one tipps over and the shell shoots sideways and explodes down at the other end of the street>>: Sounds like some fun I had with a potato cannon once. <<two words: Microsoft Windows?>>: You sound unsure if that's really two words 8-) <<I promise I get a dual pocessor G4 when my PC becomes 2 years old...and I get a good job.>>: Cool. Welcome to the fold.

Sata: <<i was wondering if they may add the barracudas fan art>>: He's not a part of TGS, so that's not likely.

DPH: <<I really wonder what the motivation is>>: Some people just like to kill, and aren't motivated by hatred. <<nobody who exactly he is waiting to visit. I figure that Alzeimher's disease>>: Really depressing, what if he's waiting for someone that is, uh, permanently detained?

Gside: <<How can you patent not doing something?>>: Hey, Amazon got, one-click. Which is *almost* not doing something. <<How did they get over it?>>: I think they just kept trading around till they got it right. <<Do you want to know?>>: no. <<so you could lead in with the smacking>>: And typical of me, I didn't pick up on it. <<That's a mass of 7.2 slugs>>: To really piss her off, give her obscure metric units. Newtons or something. <<Want any tips?>>: Would he ask you if he did? <<where are you going to get the magnesium fuses for your thermite?>>: Make them yourself?

...and scantily clad females, of course. Who cares if it's below zero outside?

<<Congrats on getting the clothes on the right people this time>>: I keep having that problem. How did they get over it?
<<Congrats>>: Thanks. Do you want to know?
<<It hurts none. Worst she can do is say no and smack you>>: Come now, I said "how much does it" instead of "it wouldn't" so you could lead in with the smacking.
<<Ack I always mark>>: But on the small boards, marking takes a goodly amount of time. Wich I don't think is offset by simulclicking as much.
<<Individually or together?>>: They're all going to the same place, but I don't care much if they come as a group.

Spacebabie> <<If I have to pick you up and carry you there I will>>: Wooha. But remember, I am 220/230 pounds. That's a mass of 7.2 slugs.

Warpmind> <<I seem to have acquired a groupie, for some bizarre reason>>: Congratulations. Want any tips?

Here's a headline: "Motive Still Unclear in L.A. Airport Shooting". The fact was an Egyptian immigrant shoots Jews boarding a plan to travel to Israel at L.A. Airport. Sheesh, I really wonder what the motivation is, d'oh.

Kathy - <What ever gave you the idea that I had a problem with kill shelters? I don't believe I've ever stated such an opinion in this forum. Quite to the contrary I've seen the psychic damage that is caused to animals that are kept kenneled for overly long periods of time. Dogs that have nervous breakdowns are not a pretty sight.> That sounds pretty close in my book. Essentially you were saying if I see an animal severely injured and don't take it to the vet, I'm being cruel. If you walk by the animal shelter and see the animals put through mental injury by not adopting and do nothing, that's the same thing as what I did. The only difference is the type of injury.

Lain - <on the plus side, now shes all snuggly cos she had a near-death experience and wants her mum :P > That reminds me of last night when I looked outside and saw my cats gathered outside of my bedroom window.

Imzadi - <That still doesn't mean you should let it die.> I didn't know you cared. I believe in putting it out of its misery, rather than let it suffer. Reminder: my cats/kittens are at best half tame.

Living in the country, I'm subject to the damn noise of the firecrackers. Sometimes the noise sounds like someone opening the door to my house.

I visited my grandfather today. He appears to be hanging on just to visit one person. The problem is nobody who exactly he is waiting to visit. I figure that Alzeimher's disease would have wiped out his memory to the point he wouldn't remember anybody to wait on.

More gathering pics up. I'm now stuck with a stupid AOL banner after going above the 2MB mark.:P I need some help in identifying people and/or characters (indicated by "WhoAreYou#.jpeg).

[Note:that's the "best" pic of Demona-May I have. Sorry :-(]

My 4th of July: Had annual dinner with family friends. They always have ribs. Hank Hill would not be pleased. This guy uses charcoal and not propane. My family brought the cake (from Sam's Club). Friend's neighbors brought homemade strawberry icecream. No fireworks for us. Sue-happy Virgina doesn't allow consumer fireworks. The most you can get are the "smoke bomb" type or the growing snakes. Not even sparklers are allowed. Pussies!! Sure, yorktown has a professionally "licensed" show but that's not as fun as lighting them yourself. :PPP When I lived in Texas, we could by things that were called "artillary shells", essentially miniture mortars about 2 1/2" dia. You Dropped them down a tube, lit the foot-long fuse and ran for cover. Of course it's always fun when one tipps over and the shell shoots sideways and explodes down at the other end of the street.(*evil grin*) Enough of the fireworks rant.

Hope those who celebrate it had a good 4th and nobody blew their fingers off! We went to our friends' place on reservation land and it was fireworks city. Tim and Dave got creative with firecrackers and soda cans, and then we started destroying plastic Easter eggs -- if you put a ground flower in one, tape the shell shut with the wick sticking out, and light it, you get a really nifty color changing effect just before the egg melts ; )

Spacebabie > I'm glad David W. made it; last I'd heard he wasn't sure if he could go. But as I only just got my pics from _last_ year, who's he think he is thwapping at me, huh? ; )

Warpmind > got them, yes, sorry ... only just catching up on e-mail.

Book news > more delays with the audio version of Black Roses, but things are looking encouraging for a print version from RAP. Got a rejection note on a weird little future-noir story, which I'll probably pop into the next issue of Sabledrake. And the Origins Awards will be announced tonight! I'm on the edge of my seat. *Warpmind strides in, looking slightly battered, weary and smug.*
Well, Wednesday was the big day, when the documentary I starred in two years ago finally got aired for the first time... Only positive responses, and a LOT of "Didn't I see you on TV the other day?" from people on the street. :) That, and I seem to have acquired a groupie, for some bizarre reason... *Scratches head* Oh, well... I'm sure I can find *something* to sacrifice her to... };) As an aside to the documentary - I'll be getting my own original copy soon; with a little luck, I'll get it on CD. That means that I might be able to relentlessly replicate it for the viewing pleasure of my international friends, contacts and other folks who might be interested. :)

Spacebabie: I'm sure I would make an adorable Chibi. After all, Adorable is my middle name. (Well, technically, I don't *have* a middle name, but I'm working on that...) And rub all you like. };)

Lain: Hey, you *still* haven't gotten back to me on that e-mail I sent you a while ago, regarding the bracelet... Didn't you receive it, or did you just forget about it? Õõ Oh, and Thank Goodness your li'l kitty's okay.

Stephanie: Actually, a surprisingly high amount of the docco is in English. After all, we had to have some interaction with the locals...

Gside: Tentacles? Well... the forked tongue bit is already possible - the muscle is probably easy enough to split. Tentacles are, well... they're still not 100% sure on all the nerve paths necessary... And as for the... other thing... I'm not shearing *everything* with this gang, ya know. ;)

Josh: Well, it may not be as silly as you think. After all, unlike Macs, PCs don't have the "One Size Doesn't Quite Fit All" issue to the same extent. };) And by the way, *you* were not a letdown. You were not on my Anticipations list. ;) As for Mara turning blue with black marker... Isn't that a bit of a paradox? Õõ

Christine: I've sent two submissions to Sabledrake Magazine; one story and a pair of Items. Did you get them?

Well, that about sums up my post. I have some other stuff to attend now; later on, folks.

Yeah, okay, three posts from me in one day. I promise I'll go back to lurking soon.

Back from the mall. Here's the deal on the Gargoyles pins.

They're part of the 12 Months of Disney Collection. So they should be merchandised on a freestanding display covered with pins with calender, movie poster, logo and character motifs. They're packed in little cello bags and the cardboard insert says "12 Months of Disney Magic" with Mickey holding out his hands like "ta da!".

If you can't find them in your area drop me a line, I picked up three extra and I'll let them go for $5.00 plus .50 for postage.

Hm ... Friday, the 5th of July ... and all of Project Management takes a vacation day ... leaving the rest of us to sit and spin. I hate the feeling that I'm time-serving.

But, I guess someone has to be down here in case any sort of emergency updates need to be made over the weekend. A few of the sites I work for demand rapid turn-around time. Dow Jones is up 225 points ... eep ... there may be publishing work this afternoon after all.

Well, I guess I should have expected this was too good to last. Dow at under 9,000 is like the grand-daddy of all computer-guided "Buy" commands. I was really hoping I'd have a few more weeks to try and get an IRA contribution at those prices ...

After the Gathering and with a wedding to save for though ... I guess my IRA just wasn't meant to start this summer. Ah well, wouldn't have traded the Gathering for much in the world.

You know you're officially part of the real world (and consequently OLD) when on the plane back from the Gathering, you start kicking yourself for not getting a tax-receipt from the Charity Auction.

On the subject of the charity auction, cheers for Andy, the auctioneer, and Roy Sato for contributing those character sketches, as well as everyone who chipped with their merchandise or money. Andy had a level of enthusiasm and charisma that was perfect for getting people to part with their money for charity. Roy's sketches raised close to one and a half Grand on their own.

Jeers to the folks that kept raising the bid on a 200 art piece by $1.00 and $0.25 bids. ;-)

Liked the video room at this Gathering a lot, and the panel and mugging events were excellent. Clan Olympics really took off this year. A specially thank-you to Siryn and company for helping Lexy and I with our little dinner thing too.

Sunday Night, post-Gathering Mini-Golf ... Best Thing Ever! :)

Seriously though, we need to make a Gathering Mini-Gold tournament an annual event. A Fan, Greg X, or someone else from New York has to find us a way to play the Second Annual Gargoyles Putt-Putt Challenge. By the 10th Gathering, it will be the 5th Annual Mini-gold tourney. That would be sweet. :)

Looking forward to the Gathering 2003, my advice shall be the same for the whole year: Gargs-Fans like free crap. Strategic placement of free crap will be your most powerful motivational and advertizing tool both before and during the Gathering.

Remember, free stuff is valuable! ;-)

Next year, definitely want to shuffle the Charity Auction around if possible and make sure it happens before all the dealers go home Sunday Afternoon. People who don't spend all the money they saved for the Auction can go blow it in the dealers room, and everybody's happy.

Yes, spend, consume, generate economic momentum!

It was fun bothering Greg W. at like 2 in the morning discussing the particulars of time-travel paradox. There is no paradox. All disruptions in the linear flow of history are closed cycles, including the very existance of the Phoenix Gate.

Greg also mentioned something about the possibility of a story where you actually get to see / meet the "Phoenix in the Phoenix Gate." Nifty, I always assumed it was just a nifty design and name, not that it actually had a Phoenix inside it.

On a non-Gathering note: You don't need moderates or neutrals to have a "reasonable discussion." There are plenty of times where a situation will simply warrant that any person who cares enough to be informed about the facts of the matter will form an opinion. You also don't need to have even one other person agree with you to be right.

You also can not be "right" when arguing opinions based on personal tastes, so don't both. You just wind up making yourself look like a jackass.

Ah well, I guess I can find something more work-like to be doing. I hope my fellow Americans enjoyed July 4th as much, if not moreso, than I. Enjoy the weekend as well.

Yeah, me too.

Jan > I was under the impression it was a national release. According to the Con Staff they'd been in stores for about two weeks. So, I guess the thing to do would be query your store (If they're like Warners they should be able to do an inventory locator search, but I'm guessing). I'm mall bound myself today so I'll check and if they have them in stock I'll let you know.

p.s. Are you doing okay? You've seemed kinda... tense lately.

And back on the kill shelters. Yeah, I know, some of them are horrendous. Those should be reformed. There are no national standards for euthanasia, so it's up to everyone to work within their community to get the most humane options in place.

drats, forgot something...

Kathy> I checked at the Disney store yesterday and they didn't have any of the Gargoyle lapel pins :( The manager there didn't have any idea of what I was talking about.
Do you happen to know when they are planning on coming out with them? I have to drive over an hour now to get to this particular mall/Disney store.

Fireflies: They are so thick here in Missouri that sometimes it looks like they are lighting up my entire yard! It's marvelous and I enjoy sitting out on my porch watching them :) We had a few in Houston, but here its remarkable the number of fireflies.

DPH > What ever gave you the idea that I had a problem with kill shelters? I don't believe I've ever stated such an opinion in this forum. Quite to the contrary I've seen the psychic damage that is caused to animals that are kept kenneled for overly long periods of time. Dogs that have nervous breakdowns are not a pretty sight.

I learned a long time ago that you can't win them all. It bites, but until everyone spays and neuters their pets there will be too many unwanted animals in the world.

So (guys (and gals) - but especially guys because they tend to over identify with animals getting castrated and wimp out for just that reason - and I've stood in both animal shelters and exam rooms at animal clinics and heard the lame ass arguements so I know what I'm talking about) get your animals sterilized.

Sorry, I needed to say that. Reply continues.

What I did say to you is that it is inhuman to let an animal suffer needlessly. If this is a feral or semi feral cat then get yourself a humane trap (if you don't own one most humane societies will rent them on the cheap), catch the cat and turn it in. It would be kinder to have the animal euthanized than suffer.

Josh > Yeah, but there are some honors that not even I'm up for.

Spacebabie> I realize that my pictures aren't of this year's Gathering - but they are some misc. pictures of Zach :) He now weighs 15 lbs and is in the average range of weight and height. (he's been in the below average range) The doctor was impressed and amazed at his advanced skills.
At work has been quite busy.... last week they brought in a very nice looking female who was extremely intoxicated by 6am. She was determined to prove to the deputy that she wasn't wearing any panties by flashing up her nightgown. She'd giggle and squeal, "I'm not wearing any panties!"
Caught a drug mule with over 54 grams of meth... hidden in his fake leg. When I wrote the press release, sheriff wouldn't let me put the heading as "Drug mule caught with meth; doesn't have a leg to stand on" ;)
His fake leg has been placed in evidence. *chuckles*

Thanks to all for posting their journals and/or pictures of the Gathering. I was depressed all weekend for not having been there.
I've noticed a theme that seems to be developing for the Gathering.... cross-dressing.
Also, if you take Patrick's last name and change the T to a W... his costumes are not too far fetched. ;)

*walks in dusting himself off.*

Darn. Um, happy belated 4th of july everyone. Just got back home form celebrating with angie and friends. Oh, btw she got promoted while I was at the gathering. (lucky, gal.)

Um, the gathering was pretty fun...I gotta meet a whole bunch of differnt peeps, Mooncat, Aaron and Mara. But, I wasn't a real conversation hound during the gathering just stayed out of sight and said my hellos and goodbyes when the time came. I just wish I didn't had to leave so early. *curses under his breath about amtrack.*

But, on the other taloned hand I was able to commision some artwork and take in some of VA's breath taking sites. That and the fact I was able to see some of my family who still live there ah...memories...

But, on happier note when I got back I got $500 for a logo that i did for a plumbing company. So i'm paying back that Vay-cay fund.

Man I gotta come back to this board more often.

my STUPID MORON IDIOT KITTEN just FELL OUT OF MY FRIKIN WINDOW!!!

WHY am i always spraying her with water bottles when she goes over there?
WHY do i stack piles of lumpy things on the windowsill?

SO SHE CANT GET UP THERE BECAUSE THE SCREEN DOESNT FIT PROPORLY AND SHELL FALL OUT!!!!

idiot! i dont know how the FRELL she got up there with all that stuff on the sill.

good thing im a light sleeper or id never have found her. there was a big thump because she landed on a car hood two floors down. probably most of the thump was the screen hitting the car, cos shes still such a tiny kitten.

so i go tearing out of the house in by summer barely-pajamas at 3am but i found her quaking in a little black lump under a car in the parking lot.

ive squeased her all over and nothing seems to hurt (thank goodness because i have no car to get to the emergency vet).. and she seems to be walking fine.

what an idiot. do i have to put barbed electrical wire on my window sill for crying out loud? gah. scared the life outa me!

..
on the plus side, now shes all snuggly cos she had a near-death experience and wants her mum :P

as soon as i can get my adrenaline level back to normal.. ill be going back to bed :P

Hope everyone had a happy 7/4. I lounged around the tiny apartment today. Did some reading on LotR: TTT, called my parents, did laundry, and cleaned the place up. Trying to be rid of some stuff so I'll have more space for a guest.

Spent tonight at a friend of a friends. One cute girl.

Yggdrasil: What does that name mean, anyway? <<all those Yanks>>: Heheh...I'm a "yank". Is that anything like being a "wanker"? <<His parents won the lottery...lucky bustard>>: Seriously. I hate it when people win the lottery. Only I'm allowed to get money without earning it 8-)

Spacebabie: <<Whats on your mind?>>: Niamh's? I'd bet bananas. <<Everyone Revel is a Cutie>>: Gee, I guess I was so busy looking at women last year that I didn't notice. <<lightening>>: Is that like dieting? <<Blame the Theater>>: I did, but I didn't go through the effort of getting a refund. <<Now Josh not everyone is a whiz like you>>: Get iPhoto. Then you don't have to be a whiz like me. <<Did you submit your list?>>: Only in the CR. <<You should have been there>>: I know, and I'm sorry I wasn't. <<then I might want to kiss it>>: Settling for a two dimensional representation? I thought only guys did that. <<Why too many guys around me?>>: No. <<Actually hemp.>>: I don't think that would be a good source of paper.

Lain: <<whats so "texan" about that?>>: If you tresspass on Toxic Smell property, they shoot you. Its more of a policy change than a food change. <<i dont understand this at all>>: Fortunatley, taco bell does not cater to people who think. <<it found "a few damaged clusters" but then took a look at this one and.. well.. it killed my computer>>: Maybe you should consider buying a new hard drive. They're cheap now. <<postage to the US is sooooo expensive>>: I feel your pain, postage IN the US is expensive as well. <<email me yer address for where youll be at christmas and ill send you a card. maybe even a presie, if im feeling slightly less poor>>: No, that's okay. I was just making fun. I won't have anyone spending money on me but my parents (lucky them!) <<this is CANADA. were supposed to have IGLOOS>>: Obviously you've never been to Toronto in the summer 8-) <<what will we do without you?>>: Post less? <<at least we wont be TOTALLY josh-less.>>: Spacebabie was shaking in her boots. <<metaldemon offered to buy half my ticket>>: That was very nice of him. What's the catch? <<i LIIIIKE it!>>: As do I, and I'm an American. For engineering, its vastly superior. <<cumming cockburn.>>: LOL!

Kathy: <<Fireflies don't live on the West Coast.>>: I'm sure I've seen them somewhere, though. Maybe it was in a zoo 8-) <<I didn't want my Gathering journal to include the notation "Greg held my head while I tossed my breakfast>>: I'm sure many garg fans would be jealous 8-)

Patrick: <<I suck>>: I'll take your word on it. <<Unless people really WANT to hear about the frustrations of driving in a state that obviously does not believe in spending money on legible road signs>>: Ugh I hate that. LA is really good, but the bay area sucks when it comes to road signs.

Leo: <<Jeebes" runs the "de-neuralizer" from a "cute lil' i-mac in a pretty shade of green>>: I bet RISC is one of their "hi-tech patents" that the MIB hold ;-) <<I'm almost done withe page layout>>: One word: iPhoto. <<how about a girl named "Lisa Meicock" (Lisa!, Meicock!>>: LOL. <<upload 14MB of pics...to hometown.aol.com>>: Ewww, sorry. <<I have 512MB>>: I'm sorry, I said *more*, not *some* 8-) You'll have to forgive me, I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to RAM; both my computers are maxed out. <<I think they're called "macros." >>: Whatever. I'm fairly certain there's an equivalent in Windows. <<I think all Adobe products are Mac native>>: Ugh don't us Mac users just wish that were true. Photoshop was originally a mac program, yes, but now Adobe invests way more in Windows than it does in mac, despite the fact that Mac users are 50% of its user base. <<pics up on my site>>: Congrats.

Mooncat: <<happy to be back home with my cable internet connection>>: Grrr...what I wouldn't give to have my DSL back. <<Siryn is fun to watch and willing to do the extra bit to make the con guests happy>>: Kinky. Sorry I missed it. <<Dreamie looks so much like a real kitty!>>: There are so many jokes here.

Stephanie D: <<stupid Wind'ohs crashed on me>>: HAHAHAHA. <<I wonder if having small hands is a good thing or not (not that way, you sickos)>>: I have small hands with long fingers, and I find them incredibly useful. Both in that way and not in that way 8-) <<He is definitely the hardest>>: I didn't need to know that.

DPH: <<What part of hissing and attempting to scratch me when I get near it says the animal wants to bound with me>>: That still doesn't mean you should let it die. <<I bet you didn't see that answer coming>>: No, I didn't. Then again...I don't care. <<it is a really good game to train people about logical thinking>>: True.

Aaron and Mara: Congrats on getting the clothes on the right people this time ;-)

Lynati: NICE COSTUME

Dreamie: Nice pussy. Er...

Winterwolf: I hate you.

Greg X: <<Jesus f*cking Christ, Venus>>: Good rant.

Gside: <<since last semester, I know what that means>>: Congrats. <<probably not, but how much does it hurt to ask>>: Congrats, you're learning. It hurts none. Worst she can do is say no and smack you. <<Probably will have to go at it without marking>>: Ack I always mark. <<I'm on the lookout for a trilingual punnish name, a personality, and a conflict over a treaty>>: Individually or together?

I suspect all fortran programs look like 'firsts'.

Venus/AntiDemona -- well, you are certainly allowed your own opinion, but I'd say the discussion about why people like Demona is going very intelligently. You asked why we like her, and those who like her gave very well thought out reasons why she's appealing to us.

I'm really not sure why you post under two names to say the same thing (that you dislike Demona), or leave your name off when posting a link to the TGS for a topic on my board, but whatever floats your boat. Both here and my own board, IP addys are listed though.

Happy 4th of July!!! Just saw a lovely display of fireworks.

Leo, great pics! I think I look awful though... sigh. I think I should have left my glasses on, because otherwise I look like a deer in the headlights, kind of dazed.

Who was it that took a piccie of Jen/Xanatos and me? I wanna copy of that one!!! Jen looked so much like Mr. X it's scarey *^_^*

I'm surprised no one came as one of the main gargoyles. No Goliath, Brooklyn, Lexington, Broadway, Angela...

Wow, Dreamie looks so much like a real kitty!!! I want those ears!!!

Hmm... Need to do chores now.

<<That rampage left several miles of property destruction, was through two countries, and wore all of the rubber of the soles of the shoes of the guy he was chasing>>: Sounds like an interesting story.

And in other news, I'm on the lookout for a trilingual punnish name, a personality, and a conflict over a treaty.

Jesus f*cking Christ, Venus, post your goddamn name to that link. And that debate is going on very intelligently. You just don't think so because everyone is against you.

Up until now, you've managed to keep my respect, but dammit, you didn't even have the nerve to post your name to this. So do us all a favor and develop some dignity.

Have 9 Gathering Costume pics up on my site. It's still in directory form but that will change hopefully. I asked Siryn if I could "alter" the G2002 mascot a bit. Havn't heard back but I don't think she'll mind. much :-)

Ok, It's almost time and I haven't heard anything about my grandfather. I hate the waiting game.

Kathy- <Why haven't you taken that kitten to the vet? It could have a simple fungal or parasite infection that can be treated with medication. It's wrong to let it suffer because you didn't bond with it.> Let me explain to you something: it's not about me bounding with animals; it's the other way around. What part of hissing and attempting to scratch me when I get near it says the animal wants to bound with me? I don't have the money to spend on the kitten. Also, I guess you really must have a problem with animal shelters that kill animals that don't get adopted after so much time. These cats/kittens are at best semi-tame around strangers.

Did I mention that my brother got married on the 4th of July? So for him, it's happy Independance Day and Dependance Day.

Imzadi - <Der, the latter.> Wrong answer. If I was going to a hotel where thieves were known to be around, I would pack extra security for my belongs and they wouldn't be stolen. If I was going to a hotel where the honesty of its customers is well known, I would probably be a little lax and someone would take advantage of the situation to steal my belongs. I bet you didn't see that answer coming. <Have you ever noticed how hard it is to explain minesweeper to a lay person? Or how amazed they get
when you blow through it? I was explaining the logic of one move to someone, with probabilities and maps of possible locations in my head and such...they looked at me like I was nuts.> The hardest problem with Minesweeper is getting started, but it is a really good game to train people about logical thinking.

Christine - <Becca got totally broiled by the sun and is now peeling like a snake.> Becca has my sympathies. I've been baked quite a few times by the sun to the point where I don't wear shorts and paranoia sets in by staying out in the sun too long and getting a sunburn on my arms.

Ravyn - <Would you like to be adopted by my dad? He's nuts for free cell ... he's gone something like 100 games without losing ... or so he says.> I'm not that bad. I used to be pretty bad about Othello, though. <Sorry to hear about things with you and your dad, and about your grandfather. My condolences.> My dad is something else.

**Job Rant**
Get this: my printer jammed _14_ times IN A ROW; then, stupid Wind'ohs crashed on me. I even skinned my knuckles getting the paper out of the printer :(
I wonder if having small hands is a good thing or not (not that way, you sickos). I have small hands, so it is (slightly) easier for me to get jammed paper out of printers and copiers. It is easier for me to get the paper out, so I am very often the one to do it. No wonder I have skinned knuckles.
Get this: this guy was very careful to e-mail us our application form back, but he forgot to fill it out!
**End**

Gside: "The Band performing The Night They Drove Dixie Down at The Last Waltz" Synchorondipidous (sp); that was the song playing on the radio when I woke up this morning.

Yggdrasil: "Action Democratic" Mario Dumont has very carefully NOT said whether or not he is Federalist or Separatist. Even beyond that, most people do not know his platform; they are just tired of the Liberals and the PQ. I vote for the AD because I like the NDP platform. I can't for the life of me find Dumont's platform.

Imzadi: "Your boyfriend isn't the sharpest tool in the shed" He is definitely the hardest. He was just so angry that he did not notice the wall. That rampage left several miles of property destruction, was through two countries, and wore all of the rubber of the soles of the shoes of the guy he was chasing ;) What a guy *sighs dreamily*.

Leo: "spoiled by not going 'away' to college. But of course you need money to move out" Are your parents encouraging you to move out on your own with this, or discouraging you? My parents do everything they can to keep me at home. They do not like that if I stay here at ICAO for four months (I am on a monthly contract so I need plausible proof that I will keep this job, d*mn housing market) I am getting my own apartment. I even have an (verbal) agreement that I will have it!

Downtime is a good thing. *^_^*

Still woozy tired, and beaming with afterglow from a great week. I am happy to be back home with my cable internet connection though. Between the odd signal breakups and the slower download speeds, doing the net at my friend's house was as much agony as relief (to just be on the net again).

Convention notes.

First impressions.

Kathy talks lots and lots (but it's mostly interesting stuff so that's okay) *^_~* Patrick doesn't talk at all.

Jen is hot looking as a guy or a girl and is very tall.

Mara is the sweet _and_ spicy. *^_^*

Aaron dotes on Mara, woo hoo!!

Spacebabie is built. *blinks*

Greg B. likes big water guns. And wears long leather coats.

Siryn is fun to watch and willing to do the extra bit to make the con guests happy (we love you Siryn!!!).

Dreamie is sexy as a kitty and I plan to steal her ears someday...

ummm... I think those were my immediate impressions.

That and the hotels in Williamsburg suck for not having ATM machines. I had to walk maybe a mile in sunlight (shudder!!!) to get money before the auction started.

All in all, I kind of floated through the convention, cause I didn't sleep much. I sort of blinked yawnsomely at everyone and hoped I got my makeup right on Saturday for the costume contest. Not having used make up in a while, I forgot I would need special cleansers to get it off again, sigh... Lucky my friend Jennifer B who I spent the rest of my VA stay with had make up removing stuff. I was pulling off makeup from Sat as late as Tuesday.

eep!

Fri and Sat I felt slightly overdressed, because everyone was in their con shirts and jeans, until the costume contest at least. Afterward there was dancing and conversation.

Most Fave bits -

David Wong. Very good con stories and excellent artist.
Greg W. who is very personable and fan accessible.

Mara, because she was very comfortable to be with. I wanted to curl up and take a nap on her lap. She is very purr worthy.

It was a very nice convention. Got some nice art bits, the script, and got to play dress up, and listen to Greg W and G talk.

That's the short version. Detailed stuff later.

********Spoilers for MIB 2*********
Well, nothing to spoil that hasn't already been in the trilers :-P However, a few things to watch out for:

On late night showings:
"Terminator 3" Teaser Trailer - "T3 coming July 2003"
"Two Towers Trailer"

In the movie: "Jeebes" runs the "de-neuralizer" from a "cute lil' i-mac in a pretty shade of green"

********Spoiler End*******

Those of you waiting to see pics I'm almost done withe page layout. Give me a few days.

Repss:
Patrick (and a few others)<<..in a state that obviously does not believe in spending money on legible road signs. :P>> V-DOT (Virginia Department Of Transportation) has removed "some" large overhanging exit signs in order to widen I-64 betwen Williamsburg and Hampton.

Lain:<<a guy named "harry dickout.">> how about a girl named "Lisa Meicock" (Lisa!, Meicock!!)

Kathy:<<Come on, guy, give up the piccies!>> I'm working on it, have to make the site first. :-)

Spacebabie:<<Please do> and organize the pics into categories like:"cosplay", "merchandise", "Staff at work", then upload 14MB of pics...to hometown.aol.com :P

Josh:<<Get more ram>>I have 512MB. It just took me 8 minutes to individually flip 45 pics.<<Ack! Yes there is! I think they're called actions. You can save a short script file of actions and run the action on every open file. Its a very necessary and useful part of Photoshop.>>Windows version. :P I don't think Windows uses "scripts." I think they're called "macros." Also, I think all Adobe products are Mac native and not all features are transfered over when the make the windows version.

Happy Independence Day!

I haven't written a Gathering journal yet... I suck. Actually, I've been working on fanfic instead. And at this point, last weekend is still such a blur, I probably wouldn't have much more to add that hasn't already been said. Josh > Yeah, Greg and the Banana Split cone was a Kodak moment. In fact, I think pictures were taken (just not by me)

Greg B. > Not a jerk. But you were busy. Btw, if I can resolve some RL issues in the next little while I might be interested in working on the Writers Track for next year. (Actually, I am interested, I just don't know if I can commit yet)

Fireflies don't live on the West Coast. Actually, from what we saw, they don't live in Williamsburg either. But they were all over Yorktown.

Christine > Ashland is always great this time of year. Glad you had fun on your vacation.

Loch Ness Monster > Not a wood coaster. Big fun though.

DPH > Why haven't you taken that kitten to the vet? It could have a simple fungal or parasite infection that can be treated with medication. It's wrong to let it suffer because you didn't bond with it.

Apollo's Chariot > Nuh uh. I don't do rides that involve centrifugal force or other balance altering motion. I was already dizzy from the 20+ hour days and I didn't want my Gathering journal to include the notation "Greg held my head while I tossed my breakfast." (Though I'm sure that some people might find that special.)

Leo > Come on, guy, give up the piccies!

okayokay. so im watching television.. and theres an ad on for taco bell.. the new "texan quesedilla" (has anyone else seen this?). anyway. the ingredients of this taco are: bacon, burger meat, "real canadian" cheddar, and a warm flour tortilla. whats so "texan" about that?? i wouldnt classify bacon or burger meat as recognizably "texan" and the cheese is canadian.. so its the tortilla? why is this tortilla any different from all the OTHER tortillas taco bell serves, which are NOT "texan"? i dont understand this at all.. o.O

Greetings;

As promised, for all those Yanks out there.

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY!

Fire Storm: Best of luck on your closing, it's been my experience that something will always come up to delay you. It really depends on how attached to the property they were. I was helping a friend move last year into a beautiful home (His parents won the lottery...lucky bustard). Anyways, when we got there not only were many of the previous owners things still there, so was the previous owner! We were in a good mood so we gave him 24hr and even helped him move out. He really just didn't want to leave.

Regardless, best of Luck.

Lain: Re: Strep. I've been saying that for years (smacks himself for the evil thoughts) but it would appear that the PQ is dying a slow death even without its head cut off. I believe the Action Democratic is making strong headway and guess what, there not separatists! (At least that's what they say)

Well I'm sick as a dog...so I'm back to bed.

Well, today I accomplished some work. I finished the design record I've been working on and I also got approval on the engineering analysis I've been doing. That's a big step toward one of my major assignment goals for the summer. Just in time for a mid-term review next week.

Saw Powerpuff Girls. *VERY* funny, despite the horrible theater experience (sound problems through the whole thing). Lots of "Planet of the Apes" jokes.

Who's the got the digital picture archive of Gathering up? What's taking you people so long? *I* had mine up the next day 8-)

Kathy: <<driving some hapless waitress nuts>>: I always feel bad for them. Then again, I get annoyed when they stand impatiently over the table while said people are chatting it up. <<banging on Greg W's. door for a early (for him) morning wake up call>>: There must be many fans just begging for that privilege. <<not all adult oriented fic is about chains and whipped cream>>: Contrary to popular evidence. <<the banquet menu was hotdogs and hamburgers>>: That's a banquet!? <<He entertained us thoroughly as he tried to eat this thing while maintaining his dignity>>: I am so sorry I missed that. I'd have been laughing my butt off.

Spacebabie: <<my weight is still dropping>>: Yay. <<Watched the top ten episodes>>: Only one of those was on my list. Weak. <<when will I ever get a chance to see Gargoyles again?>>: Get the dish. <<Lilo and Stitch series that was working on>>: That might be worht checking out. <<The Food sucked, compared to the banquet in Orlando>>: Doesn't look like it was as impressive as LA either. <<everyone's jaws dropped and the guys drooled>>: Confident much? <<36 degrees Celceius?>>: Der. <<You silly canucks and your metric system>>: Its the best way to go. <<send your whole family on a trip and then have the house to your self>>: Not a bad idea...except I'm 400 miles from that house. <<there were people having sex. I wasn’t one of them though>>: Notice I said "most". <<Is it kinky? Mine is kinky>>: No, its just a picture of my face. But its *very* accurate. <<I need my own place>>: You're 25 and you still live with your parents, I'd say that's a given. <<not unless I want my mother’s face to be pink permantly>>: Pink is good. <<I want to have fun with you as well>>: Judging from the pictures...you have no shot. <<We 25 year olds are aged to perfection>>: I wouldn't say that. <<"Actually I smell ham" Dreamy~Gathering 2002>>: So she doesn't smell bread anymore?

Greg X: <<I'm going to type this up now before it becomes one great big blur for me>>: Avoid the acid and that will take longer 8-) <<I'm either behaving like a complete moron, or a complete asshole>>: Aren't you usually a complete asshole? <<well I'll be nice and say it was terrible>>: LOL! I'd fly. <<Winterwolf and Dreamie, near the back of the room>>: Wolf and Dream are always near the back of the room. Its so they can make out without anyone noticing. <<$125 a night for a single and double>>: I'll have to find some sucker to room with me. <<That is a sweet deal>>: If you don't mind sharing a bed or sleeping on the floor. << OtherCon, which will be the Adult section of G'2003>>: SWEET! I'm there. <<it's not done by people just to give ourselves a pat on the back>>: I don't remember anyone saying that. Pistoff? Besides, its obvious they do it so they can put down everyone who's never done it ;-) <<they made some announcements about changes to the server>>: They did that last year too, and those changes never came. <<This event will become official at the next con, it will be on the schedual>>: A waterfight? Then might I suggest handing out info on where we might acquire water-weaponry? <<He truly is the God of the Bid. And damn, how much money did he spend>>: I just hope there is something next year that I actually want. Then I will destroy him. <<a poster of Demona signed by Marina Sirtis>>: That is soooo cool! Take a picture and put it online! <<Greg Weisman helped by telling people to give us their money>>: Do you guys have a guest list yet?

Silverbolt: <<runs off to plan a money making scam>>: e-mail based pyramid scheme? Those work well, if you don't get thrown in jail.

Niamhgold: <<hopefully I'll be able to go next summer>>: Need a roomie? <<gotta tie up LOTS of loose ends>>: Kinky! <<Leaving the state a month earlier than previously planned to go elsewhere>>: Where?

Stephanie D: <<has been known to run full tilt through 6" concrete to get at his goal AND NOT SLOW DOWN>>: Your boyfriend isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, is he?

Revel: <<Dreamie and Winterwolf caught me dancing again so there are good photos on the way>>: LOL! I hope they are better than my pics of you dancing were last year. <<Greg had to read a Toon Disney cable provider promo to get peopel to subscribe>>: Ah, I see.

Leo: <<I'm amazed at the number of people who say they have never seen fireflys. Are you being serious?>>: I've only seen them once, but I can remember where. I spend a lot of time outdoors if you consider that I'm from L.A., but as you can guess that's not much. <<I always find this kind of information fascinating>>: I always find it weird. If they can't put it on, how the hell are we supposed to take it off!? <<of course you need money to move out>>: Money which you get from getting a job which you get by going to college. <<a goose colided with Fabio's head>>: That gave me the most bizarre image. <<You happened to be the unfotunate person to sit in the seat that rotates right under the waterfall>>: I wonder what would have happened if I'd been on the ride with her, since Murphy's Law dictates that I'm always the one under the waterfall. <<It took me about 8 minutes to open all 25 files at once>>: Get more ram. <<There is no "apply change to all open files" feature that I know of>>: Ack! Yes there is! I think they're called actions. You can save a short script file of actions and run the action on every open file. Its a very necessary and useful part of Photoshop.

DPH: <<hotel where thieves are known to be around or a hotel where the honesty of its customers is well known>>: Der, the latter. <<I will be able to afford to go to next year's Gathering>>: I hope to see you there.

Ravyn: <<these old "Batman" episodes on TV Land>>: I used to be totally addicted to them. But the cartoon just made them stupid. Because frankly, batman shouldn't have a potbelly. <<I'll be heading to Michigan to meet a certain special someone ... **grins and winks at Coyote*>>: Fire Storm? <<I think I just aced my fluid mechanics final>>: I'm going to kill you now. <<That's exactly like something I would have said as a kid>>: LOL I can picture that. <<give me Minesweeper, and I'm a happy camper>>: Have you ever noticed how hard it is to explain minesweeper to a lay person? Or how amazed they get when you blow through it? I was explaining the logic of one move to someone, with probabilities and maps of possible locations in my head and such...they looked at me like I was nuts.

Gside: <<a problem with my CDRW today>>: As long as burning has been on the consumer market, I'm convinced it wasn't ready for public consumption before a year ago. <<Winamp>>: Bah. <<I wonder if I could help with that>>: I'm sure you could, but I don't think she'd let you. <<Best time? 110 myself>>: At which level? I think my best times are about 10-12 seconds for easy, 35 for medium, but definitely closer to 4-5 minutes for the hard one. Need more practice.

Fire Storm: <<you know what happenes to theory, right?>>: Someone on slashdot said that in theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

Nick: <<it was around 175 people. HOw that compares to past gatherings, I have no clue>>: As I recall it was close to 500 at G2k1. <<

I hope everyone has a good Independence Day. For those who have to work: my condolences. For those who get a paid vacation on Friday: I hate you.

Absolutely nothing should be concluded from these figures except that no conclusion can be drawn from them.

Now normally, I never post in here, but I felt the need to this time.

To answer the question about total number of people attended the gathering: it was around 175 people. HOw that compares to past gatherings, I have no clue.

To point out that it's now the 4th of July, and I'm _STILL_ hurting from Clan Olympics is saying something. *laughs* What's really frightening is that I enjoyed the "Dead Dog" thing more than the actual gathering. 0.o

"Uncle Hudson's Bedtime Stories" *laughs* I'm still trying to figure out a place to do the 800 sparklers bit...

Greg> What do you think was the most embarassing story told that night in the Con Suite? "Standing Urination", "Naked Town Walk" (by yours truly), or just about anything told by Hudson? *laughs*

But to everyone who couldn't be there, man, you missed it. It was amazingly fun. Mad props should be given to Siryn for everything. Hell, mad props to everyone who kept that place together... Siryn, Abe, MAui, 3rd Place Award winner Mr. Andy (Greg, you gotta make that an award at G2003), and all the others whom which their names I forget.

Spacebabie> Hopefully I was on that list of desirable males... *grins* If not, can you at least fix the vote so that I am? *laughs*

Oh well, back to my usual floating around ICQ and s8.

Hey, folks. We're finally home. 12 days, 2700 miles of driving, his immediate family, my extended family, and a side trip to Universal Studios. Whew. No major disasters.

Saw two plays in Ashland -- As You Like It (enh; I fell asleep right before intermission) and Julius Caesar (kicked serious bottom despite a Mark Antony who looked like a short Conan O'Brian).

Becca got totally broiled by the sun and is now peeling like a snake. I keep stuttering as I try to type, out of practice. Was nice spending time with all my wacky relatives. All the great-grandkids in one place, including my sister's unborn baby, what a crowd!

Anyway, glad to see that the Gathering went well. Thanks, everyone, for posting the reports. It felt strange to be at U. Studios and able to see the hotel where we were last year at this time! ;) I definitely felt like something was missing.

More later. It's been a long week and a half, and I won't even think about unloading the car and unpacking until tomorrow.

Found out a problem with my CDRW today. And that a couple large files had been chopped by scandisk a while back. Don't think I'll get them back until I get back on the RU Direct Connect server.

Imzadi> <<My parents would give me there collection if I'd ask...and its aged 25 more years>>: You could make some nice meals out of those. Mmm... saltimbocca.
<<Use quicktime>>: Feh. Winamp. And I used to like Sonique.
<<Isn't that a slashdot thing only?>>: The law applies to all extended (heated) discussions, whether the participants know of it or not.
<<Well then she should test them out>>: I wonder if I could help with that.
<<Uh, no>>: Yes.

Spacebabie> <<Since you live that close you are going>>: As always, we shall see.

Greg> <<People were talking so loud that i could not get any sleep at all>>: If it's overnight, you really do need to get on a sleeper. Learned that on a trip to Illinois.

Niamhgold> <<Gside, can you either post or email me your AIM name?>>: Gside42. Same for MSNIM.

Stephanie> <<unless he wants to fend off a raging berserker yelling for vengeance>>: Ah. Good point.

Leo> <<Loch Ness Monster is the oldest (and IMO) the best coaster there>>: Is it wooden? And does it feel like it's going to fall apart every time you get on? We got one like that here in Jersey.

Ravyn> <<I'm leaving for New Jersey on Saturday morning>>: Hope you enjoy it here. And who knows, you just might see me. Scary thought, I know.
<<give me Minesweeper, and I'm a happy camper>>: Best time? 110 myself.

I should probably post something patriotic because of the holiday. Oh well. The Band performing The Night They Drove Dixie Down at The Last Waltz.

Na zdorov'ya.

SUNDAY

By Sunday, I was dead tired, I only had maybe two hours of sleep the whole con.

Same routine as yesterday. We all agreed to meet up at 9 AM to sell more Pre-Reg, but as someone who hates mornings also, I decided to give them all another. So I went to the hotel restaurant, and ended up joining Jen, Kathy and Patrick for breakfast. When that was over, I bumped into Lynati again. Aaron gave us all the Pre-Reg stuff and 'Nati and I went down to see some more, before Aaron and Mara finally showed up.

After a while, we packed things up and went to the auction. It was a lot of fun this year, and I walked away with a poster of Demona signed by Marina Sirtis. The real novelty of this poster was that when Marina saw it at a con, she liked it so much, she tried to steal it. No, I am not making this up. The poster was drawn by Jen, so I heard Marina later got in touch with her for her own copy. So now I have it, and the Marina story makes a good conversation piece about it... hey, after paying $200, I feel that the story is mine also. I saw Jen later, and she was surprised to see that I spent $200 on her work, with or without Marina's autograph on it. As usual, it was fun to watch Aaron go at it on several pieces. He truly is the God of the Bid. And damn, how much money did he spend.

We sold more pre-registration and attended closing ceremonies, before heading back out and selling more pre-registration. Greg Weisman helped by telling people to give us their money ;)

So anyway, with the con over, the G2002 staff passed down the leftovers from the con to be sold next year. This was a lot of merchandise, but we managed to get it back to new York. I wasn't looking forward to taking the train back, so Aaron and Mara gave me a lift back to New York, but again I'm getting ahead of myself.

Well, the con was over, we all hung out, and did stuff, though the rest of the day is a blurr for me. A bunch of us went for sushi later, which was fun, got to know people I hadn't talked to much before.

Finally we came back and headed to the Con Suite where we listened to Hudson tell more stories, and others shared past embarassing stories. Damn, my life was so boring... well, there was the time some friends and I stole a fire extinguisher from the school, and accidently set it off outside, creating a huge dust cloud covering the building. But that was nothing compared to the stories shared here.

After a while, we moved outside and continued talking for several hours. Finally it was 3 AM, and it was time for us to all get eady, we packed the car up and within the hour we said good bye to everyone around, hugged Lynati, and were off.

The ride home was a bit of an adventure, but after eight hours, we finally reached New York. Hung out at Mara's place for a while, before getting in a cab to head to Grand Central Station, and finally getting home.

To all the people I got to see that weekend: Revel, Lynati, Spacebabie, Emambu, Jen, Kathy, Patrick, Greg W, Greg G, JEB, A Fan, Zehra, Hudson, Winterwolf, Dreamie and damn, there are a lot of people to name. You made the weekend great. And a special thanks to Siryn and the rest of her staff, for the kick ass weekend. And of course to Aaron and Mara, for putting up with me as much as they did that weekend. See you all next year, some probably sooner. You're all the reasons I'm in this fandom.

And now to get ready for Gathering 2003.

I just want to say that I LOVE these old "Batman" episodes on TV Land. Yay for TV ... **watches King Tut find the Batcave** :)

Well, I'm leaving for New Jersey on Saturday morning ... so this will probably be my last post in here for a while. I'll be gone for about two weeks, and then I'll be heading to Michigan to meet a certain special someone ... **grins and winks at Coyote** :)

Thanks to everyone who posted a Gathering report! I love getting to read about everyone's experiences even though I didn't get to go. :) Glad a good time was had by all, and wow!!! What excellent news about Gargoyles on DVD!!!!!! :) I thought someone was joking when I first heard the news ... glad for once it's for *real.* :)

Happy Fourth of July! :) Too bad we won't get any fireworks for the first time I've ever seen ... too high of a fire risk ... dang it.

Speaking of fire, remember that big fire still burning out here in Arizona? They've arrested a Bureau of Indian Affairs contract firefighter for starting the blaze ... apparently, the stupid dork started the fire so he could get paid for extra time at work. How selfish ... :(

In other news, I'm done with summer school! I think I just aced my fluid mechanics final ... I really kinda liked that class. :)

Jen> Whoa ... no offense, but it really *is* scary how much you look like Xanatos with that painted-on goatee ... ;)

Josh> <<That explains a lot>> Yeah, tell me about it ... that whole rant that Lilo makes at the beginning of the movie, where she's trying to explain that she's late to the dance class because of Pudge the fish who controls the weather? **laughs** That's exactly like something I would have said as a kid ... and my mom went with me to see the movie, and she started laughing and agreed with me. :)

Uh-oh! UFO's are invading Gotham City, and the Joker is behind it somehow! **giggles** I love this show ... :)

DPH> Sorry to hear about things with you and your dad, and about your grandfather. My condolences. :( <<Damn. I almost broke my record for number of free cell games in a row I won without losing: 13>> **chuckles** Would you like to be adopted by my dad? He's nuts for free cell ... he's gone something like 100 games without losing ... or so he says. ;) Myself, give me Minesweeper, and I'm a happy camper ... :)

Coyote> **smooches** Love you, and see you soon! :)

See you around, everybody!

Damn. I almost broke my record for number of free cell games in a row I won without losing: 13. I was only 1 way. Of course, the computer is picking which games I play.

Stephanie - <*Hugs DPH again*> thanks.

*Looks at clock*, ok, it's about 12 hours left that my grandfather is expected to live. He's had Alzeimher's Disease for years so I consider it an end to his suffering.

One of my kittens appears to be scratching itself to death (the obvious wounds aren't healing) so I expect it to die. Oh well, that was the one that was most terrified of me.

Revel - <the catch to all the free Toon Disney stuff was Greg had to read a Toon Disney cable provider promo to get peopel to subscribe, as he said, small price to pay for a lot of free stuff.> I was beginning to wonder what the catch was.

GXB - <Oh, and there were five rats in my train car alone.> Thanks for scaring me away for riding in a passenger train. <Then after we were done, Siryn told everyone to be nice to us, cause a Gathering Staff works their asses off, and despite what some morons may like to say, it's not done by people just to give ourselves a pat on the back. This paragraph was addressed to a special tiny group of people in the fandom. You know who you are. > That's funny because I thought part of it was competition to see who can pull off the best convention.

Spacebabie - <Sorry to hear about that.> Well, hopefull somethings on my mom's side of the family can be settled.

Imzadi - The question is where would your luggage be safer: hotel where thieves are known to be around or a hotel where the honesty of its customers is well known.

With any luck, I will be able to afford to go to next year's Gathering.

I'm going to see Men In Black II tonight. I hope it lives up to the hype.

I think I will start a web page to post my gathering pics since there are so many. I've created a few pages off the net that just work on my hard drive but I have never uploaded anything on the web. I only have dial-up so I probably will only be able to post at most 10 at a time.

I like reading everyone's gathering journals. There isn't much for me to say that hasn't already been told. You guys have pretty much covered the interesting stuff. I have to agree the food at the banquet was.. disapointing. I asked if I could have cheese on my burger but the server seemed to ignore me, so I used the mac and cheese paste as a substitute. Has anyone ever eaten a mac and cheese burger? }]-P I'm amazed at the number of people who say they have never seen fireflys. Are you being serious?
By the way those of you who went to historic Yorktown, hope you took the time to walk along the small beach and enjoy the lovely view of the Coleman Drawbridge and the flame from the AMOCCO refinery :-). Hope you stayed away from Nick's Seafood.
I would have gone to Busch Gardens but I didn't want to drive to Williamsburg and back again. I bet I missed some great photo ops. :-(

A few replys:

Spacebabie:
<<Took a shower and the bathroom floor flooded>>So that's what caused the leak in the ceiling by the Coke machine.<<As I changed into my costume I had trouble with the hosiery. The Pantys and belt was no problem>>I always find this kind of information fascinating (umm... that was the evil "Big-Daddy Leo" talking, not me)<<You silly canucks and your metric system>>That's interesting since that's one of the few cases in which we are more "British" than they are. How awful.<<I need my own place...>>I know your pain. We've both been "spoiled by not going 'away' to college. But of course you need money to move out.." --Parental lecture #10 (and being heard more frequently)

Kathy:<<Greg and I rode nearly all the Deathcoasters>>Did you ride the "Apollo's Chariot",the one where a goose colided with Fabio's head <<except for Alpinefest, fright, whatever>>Heh-heh, Alpingeist I think it is. I've heard about people getting whiplash on that one. haven't riden it yet. By the way, Loch Ness Monster is the oldest (and IMO) the best coaster there.<<There were bumper cars>>Now THAT would have made a great picture, Greg on the Bumper Cars. Hope somebody else got a pic.<<flip frogs>>I don't remember anything like that in "Germany", that must have been in "France" (I know, bad taste)But I'm half French-Canadian so I think I can get away with it :-P<<I didn't get a little wet, I got completely soaked.>>Ah yes, the "Roman Rapids". You happened to be the unfotunate person to sit in the seat that rotates right under the waterfall. Aside from getting wet, I hope you had fun.

Josh:<<behold the wonders of photoshop.>> Yep. It took me about 8 minutes to open all 25 files at once, individually "flip horizontally" and save each one. There is no "apply change to all open files" feature that I know of.

Woah, I think this is my biggest post so far and I'm not finished. But now I must leave for the 10:40 showing of MIB2.

Not going to post a Gathering report since I seem to appear in most of them and when I'm not in them it's for good reasons. Anyhow, I dropped the film off and should have it Sunday so a big photo update next week is in order, maybe I can even have a story and art to go with it, that would be cool. (Talking to myself here)
I had a good time, it was nice to get away from work, but back to money for I am broke again. Personally the best parst wer listening to Hudson rant and aaron at the auction. Hudson should have the security of knowing that if he ever needs a side job he would be a great stand up comedian.
Other than that the location change or the poison OJ is lingering for I have a bad sinus cold right now and my leg still hurts from a Charlie Horse I got on the last night of the con.
I warn all here ahead of time Dreamie and Winterwolf caught me dancing again so there are good photos on the way, but it was fun to catch a dance with Noel *waves*

Josh- the catch to all the free Toon Disney stuff was Greg had to read a Toon Disney cable provider promo to get peopel to subscribe, as he said, small price to pay for a lot of free stuff.

SATURDAY

I woke up, showered and went downstairs. And already I was bombarded with requests for Pre-Reg. I did not have the forms with me at the time, Aaron and Mara did and they were still asleep. Finally I bumped into 'Nati and soon we got Aaron and Mara up. Now Sara really wanted us to set up our table for Pre-Reg ASAP, but we all decided to head out and get breakfast first. You know, priotities ;)

So we got back and set up at the Art tables in the Dealer's Room, and were very well received. Lots of people buying Pre-Reg, giving suggestions and ideas for G2003, offering to help. After a while, it was time for the Radio Play, so we packed up and went to that. It was the episode of "Team Atlantis" titles the last. Guest starring Fiona Canmore and Demona... though she was not called by name in it. Fun script, and the cast did a good job reading it, but the real treat was hearing the actual voice tape, with Marina Sirtis as Demona and Sheena Easton as Fiona Canmore. I was told it would go up for auction, and I had every intention of getting it. I didn't, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

With the Radio lay over, we went back to the Dealer's Room and sold more Pre-Reg, and we kept this up until the Banquet, which consisted of hamburgers and Hot Dogs. Not the best meal, but at least we didn't have to pay extra for them. I listened in on Greg's Q&A before heading off to get ready to watch the Masquerade.

The Masquerade was good this year, Lynati won for best costume and Aaron and Mara won for best Cosplay, I of course predicted this would happen before hand. Have I got a kick ass Con-Staff or what?

The other costumes and skits were great. Spacebabie looked really, really, hot in her costume. Heh, she's come over to the dark side, and she's in good company. After a while, Aaron and I took her up to Aaron's room to sell her Pre-Reg since she had to leave early the next day, and we chatted for a bit before heading back down.

The rest seems like a blurr for me, but eventually with Hudson, we set up the big gun fight with all the Nerf weapons. Now that was a lot of fun, yeah I got killed by Aaron, but I almost finished him off. This event will become official at the next con, it will be on the schedual.

Around 2 AM, we were kicked out and we headed off to bed, we had more Pre-Reg to sell the next morning, afterall.

Posting before work ends because I have to run for a bus right after. Besides, I can't get any work done right now, the network is down. Anyway, I have been saving this post since 8:45am.
I got into work 45 minutes early today. I know I am not trying to suck up to my supervisors since they have both been on vacation since before I started working. I really hate having to take three buses and a metro to get to work.
Name found while filing: Mr. Sexsmith.
I am so glad/envious of all the fun you guys had at the Gathering this year. I hope that I will soon be able to join you. Maybe if I get my driver's licence by next year I will drive down to New York. Or I could always take a bus.

*Hugs DPH again*

Bananas, I was hoping to get to a longer post this week. Just wanted to say that I hope you all had a good Gathering, and that hopefully I'll be able to go next summer (I have *got* to finally see Patrick/Crzy and their costuming feats ;)). I want lots of pictures, too! :)

Ugh, gotta tie up LOTS of loose ends. Leaving the state a month earlier than previously planned to go elsewhere.

Okay, I'm still not rested up enough, but I'm going to type this up now before it becomes one great big blur for me.

First of all, I was dead tired through the majority of this con, and when I'm dead tired, I'm either behaving like a complete moron, or a complete asshole. So apologies to anyone if I came off as either.

Friday, the journey begins

This first started with me grabbing the midnight train here and taking it down to Grand Central Station, it was about an hour's train ride, but that's okay. Even though it was hard to carry a heavy duffle bag and a back-pack. But I arrived at Grand Central Station, and grabbed a cab to Penn Station to grab the 2:15 AM train. That was not so fun, but when I arrived I took a moment to look across the street at the Hotel Pennsylvania (which is where we will be hosting the Gathering 2003). After about an hour, they finally boarded my train.

The train ride down to Williamsburg was, well I'll be nice and say it was terrible. People were talking so loud that i could not get any sleep at all. But that's not the worst of it, when we leave Washington DC, lightning strikes the train tracks and we move at a snail's pace until we reach Richmond. Oh, and there were five rats in my train car alone. No wonder Amtrack is going under. Needless to say, I was dreading the trip back.

But I finally arrived, three hours late, but i arrived, just in time to see what terrible taxi service Williamsburg has. So another half hour later, I arrive at the hotel, which was only three minutes away, but I would never have found had I went on foot.

Immedietly, things start lifting up, yeah it took me a half hour to check in, but I didn't mind because I got to run into old friends. Emambu was the first to greet me, followed by Revel (who gave me a Megatron poster), then Jennifer Anderson, Patrick Toman and Kathy Pogge. And finally I bumped into Aaron, Mara and Lynati (who gave me a great piece of pottery she made), whom were of course all great to see again. Finally I got my room and I went in to unpack my bags.

After that, I made my way down to sign in to the con, and I was greeted by Siryn, and ran into a bunch of familiar faces (Hudson, Demona May, Denis, Kaioto, Lexy, Matt, Jim R, Metaldemon etc) and newbies. I was getting questions about G2K3 already. If I had a dime for everytime I said, wait for Opening Ceremonies. Hung around the Art Room and the Dealer's Room, and finally went with Aaron, Mara, Revel and Lynati to get breakfast at IHOP. Was pretty good. Then we journeyed off to K-Mart. We saw that Hudson had guns, so we went out to buy better ones. This led to the big gun fight later, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

We came back just in time for Opening Ceremonies, and while there I met Carol Wagner (G2003's Guest Coordinator) for the first time, and it was a real pleasure. She has been a great addition to our team. Well, Opening Ceremonies finally got underway, I saw with Revel, 'Nati, Aaron, Mara, Winterwolf and Dreamie, near the back of the room. Siryn thanked everyone for coming, and and Sapphire read a great poem she wrote about the fandom (which I'd like a copy of, as I thought it was great). Finally, it was time for the G2003 crew to make it's pitch. So, Aaron, Mara and I went up there, and I'll admit, I froze for a bit. never been great at public speaking, but Aaron and Mara really helped a lot up there.

Anyway, here's most of what we announced. Remember the G'98 hotel? Well... We're NOT THERE!!! The Gathering 2003 will be held in the beautiful hotel Pennsylvania. And this place is truly a Godsend. Conveniently located right across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, with access to the entire city. Room rates are $125 a night for a single and double, and I think $140 or $145 on a quadruple, I forget right now. But if you room with three other people, you'll only be paying $40 a night. That is a sweet deal. We also talked about our mascots (Madison and Death), OtherCon, which will be the Adult section of G'2003, erotic art, fanfic panels, etc. You'll have to be over eighteen to get in, and you must sign up for it. We don't want people to wander in and be horrifiedand come complaining to us. More details on G2003, later. But we were very, very well received.

Then after we were done, Siryn told everyone to be nice to us, cause a Gathering Staff works their asses off, and despite what some morons may like to say, it's not done by people just to give ourselves a pat on the back. This paragraph was addressed to a special tiny group of people in the fandom. You know who you are.

So anyways, Greg W got up and did his uaual intro. And damn, it never gets old.

So Opening Ceremonies finally ended, and i bumped into JEB, whom I haven't seen since G99. I finally bought the Gargoyles tape I bought from him on ebay... a year ago. And we chatted for a bit, before I went to Patrick and Kathy's panel. After that, it was time for Hudson and Chris Roger's panel, in which they made some announcements about changes to the server. All of which sounds funny. After that, it was time for Hudson's rant, or, as I prefer to call it now: "Story Time With Uncle Hudson"... term coined by Aaron Wheeler. It was greatly amusing. Love sticking it to stupid people! ;)

Finally that ended and it was time to end the first day with a bang. We went to watch the "Rocky Horror Picture Show". Back around New Year's, i lost my Rocky virginity, and it was great to watch it again with this crew. We were the loudest in the room. and even got up to do the Time Warp.

That ended at about 2 AM, so after that it was off to bed.

And so ends Friday.

Oy My dad and the Boy are fighting again. as much as he fights with me he fights with dad more often.

Had a yummy treat last night. Power puff ice cream topped with chocolat pudding, caramel syrup, and whip cream. Since my weight is still dropping and I barely ate anything at the Gathering. I felt I deserved a lil splurge.

Gathering Journal III
Woke up early again after barely any sleep. Took a shower and the bathroom floor flooded. My night gown got soaked.
My head was starting to hurt.
Went to breakfast with Mooncat. we were joined by Patrick and Kathy. Get this Patrick was not aware that Deidric Bader was the voice of Jason Canmore.
After Breakfast I bummed some tylenol off of someone. I'm sorry I forgot your name but thank you whoever you are.

We lounged on the sofas afterwords and I took a lil snooze.
Went on mad raid at the dealers buying a bunch of stuff: A picture for mom, cards, a Lex plushie and a dragon for me.
Chilled with Demona May and explained I wanted to buy one of her prints. We talked about the situation with my early flight with the con chair. She gave me a free clender.

Watched the top ten episodes
10. Gathering pt 2
9. Deadly Force
8. Kingdom
7.Temptation
6.Vows
5. Future Tense
4. Hunters Moon 1.
3. Hunters Moon 2.
2. Hunters Moon 3.
1. The Mirror.

Before number one I was able to purchase Demona May's print.
I was torn between the countdown and the Radio play, but when will I ever get a chance to see Gargoyles again? I don't have Toon Disney, and when the heck will I ever get to see Deadly Force? I had to absorb it all.

Changed a little before the banquet, had some tome to kill so I went to the snack room. Greg G was there talking about th Lilo and Stitch series that was working on.

Banquest started and I was seated with a group of Con Virgins.
The Food sucked, compared to the banquet in Orlando: Burgers, mac and cheese paste, and a hot dog. The only thing to drink there was water. Emily fetched a plate of lemon slice so we could make Lemonaid. Stood near Demona May to take pics of the Gregs.

As I changed into my costume I had trouble with the hosiery. The Pantys and belt was no problem. Mooncat laced up the corset in the back. I slipped into my shoes, did my hair, make up, shimmer and beads. Grabbed my puse and camera and shirt.
Luckily I did not come in contanct with any norms on my way to the elevator. When the doors opened everyone's jaws dropped and the guys drooled. I was a big hit. Everyone was taking pics, but really impressed me was everyone elses costume. Damn they were great. Aaron and Mara looked beautiful, and the crossdressers were a hoot. Lynati's was the best. Everyone was impressed with her feet. I had to touch the wings of those who had wings.

Well we wr introduced and I shook my booty when I strut my stuff. After I went on I took some more pics. Then I had to get a pic of myself between the two Grgs, but the camera ATE it!!!! Well I gave beads away to the guys, only making a few flash.
Then I pulled on my shirt and sat amongst the others so we had our picture taken for Toon Disney and Disney Japan.

Followed Aaron and Greg B To Aaron and Maras room, we talked and I got registered for next year. Then I changed clothes. So I can breath and dance. Decided to finally draw something, but ended up dancing and Joining Greg W's discussion group until I was tired.

Bid fare well to Crzy before I went to pack and go to bed.

Next day Leo drove me to the Airport and I flew back home.

Gathering Diary Concluded

Monday - Or Look! Kathy's All Wet!

The official after Gathering event was a trip to Busch Gardens. We assembled in the lobby and jockeyed for car space and soon we were underway. Hats off and Happy Birthday to Jubilee for organizing so many people. We all made it to the park and remembered where we parked. (Germany 2) bought tickets and went inside.

The core of our group was Lanny and Derek, Greg, Jubilee and me. Kellie Fay, Torrey, Sapphire, Winterwolf and Dreamie made periodic appearances as did Denis, Scott, Mandi and others who I'm afraid I can't recall anymore (I'm sorry!)

Greg and I rode the Loch Ness Monster. Kellie became the official keeper of stuff for the first part of the day, since she both caught some kind of funky cold from the hotels ventilation system ( Honestly, nice people, really nice people (did I mention how great they were?) but they need to change the filters and clean their AC system.) We couldn't help notice the number of ads that popped up during the day for Chropractic Services. It seemed to be some kind of omen, though thankfully, it seemed to be meant for someone else!

Anyway, since Greg's quote of the day was 'Sure, whatever' and mine was "I'm in". We made the rounds stopping at roller coasters and water rides along the way. It was my day to be soggy. Pompei, this odd ride that involved live flame and water was my first soaking. Not bad, kind of nice after the inferno that was the first part of the trip, but I got doused pretty good, which resulted in Lanny complementing me on my new spiky 'do and a wet tank top.

The pleasant sogginess was soon to be a thing of the past. Shortly thereafter most of us got on the white water ride. Huge fun. But, this time I didn't get a little wet, I got completely soaked. Wet denim does not equal comfy. So I squished my way out of the company of my friends for a few minutes to buy a pair of shorts and change clothes. Now I was "sporty" and only semi soggy. A vast improvement for as long as it lasted.

I avoided a couple of rides that seemed like a sure fire trip to vertigo land, but Greg and I rode nearly all the Deathcoasters except for Alpinefest, fright, whatever. I took one look at that and said "A big no." despite multiple promptings from Jubilee.

We saw the Irish dance show. The dancers stomped their feet off, but may I just say, Damn you, Michael Flatly? I much prefered the Swing show that provided our dinner entertainment and Imaginique that closed the evening and I still can't believe Greg slept through nearly all of it. I gawked totally awed. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

We still had to ride the Flume. (A word that Greg was strangely enamored with.) And to no one's surprise, I was all soggy again by the time it was over even though Greg obligingly acted as human shield.

There were bumper cars and the Autobahn and an amazingly entertaining interlude at the German area when Derek graciously paid so that we could all flip frogs. I will express some relief that he didn't win the giant stuffed flamingo, but I like the little walrus that became mine by the end of the night. (Thank you!)

Oh! And Busch Gardens is known for its critters! I got to play with the Lorikeets and see wolves and bald eagles and of course, the famous Clydesdales.

We closed the park, stopping for ice cream along the way. Well, some of us had ice cream. Greg, "Did I mention I like to eat?" Weisman, had this absurd banana split in a waffle cone. He entertained us thoroughly as he tried to eat this thing while maintaining his dignity. A perfect final act to a great day.

But all good things eventually end. We drove back to the hotel and said many goodbyes. And so ended Gathering 2002.

Gathering Diary Continued

Saturday - Sleep is for Wimps

Unfortunately, it's also necessary for cognative processes. I'm sort of blurry on the day part of Saturday. I know I talked to a bunch of people and had a good time doing it. I also know that I went poolside long enough to read for a little while until the game of koosh catch turned into a cannon ball contest and I got all soggy. (Remember this, it turns into a running gag on Monday).

Eventually it was time for the Radio Play. Greg's players did an excellent job and we got to "see" an episode of Team Atlantis that had a strangely coincidental tie in to Gargoyles. As an extra bonus, since this episode had been voice acted by the professional cast we got to hear their version too.

Lunch was a Mickey Dee's run. Then we tracked down an ATM at a 7/11. Hey, sometimes a little mundane is a good thing. But I wished we had been tipped that the banquet menu was hotdogs and hamburgers, I might have had something else for lunch. C'est la vie. (or something) And hey! Karine explained what Sacre Blu! means.

After the banquet and a great Q and A with Greg and Greg, it was time to get ready for the Masquerade. I sat out this year. I actually thought about a costume for five or six minutes, but I opted for minimal baggage instead. That's okay. I put on a length of batique fabric and my sunglasses and went as "Lilo and Stitch extra # 37) which, since it included bare feet, meant I was comfy as we wore out another night with pizza and a marathon gabfest. Unfortunately, this meant that I was engaging in yet another Gathering Tradition: the loss of my voice.

Sunday or This May Be the Home Stretch for the Convention, but I've Got Two More Days

Yes, we did actually get to bed before dawn, but not by much. Saturday became Sunday while we talked and laughed and generally got silly. I was smart enough to put my stuff out before going out for the evening, so getting to bed was a minimal hassle. Again, it was a good thing my roomies are heavy sleepers because this was definetly a night owl weekend.

I was late for the Starship Troopers panel - I'm not sure why. I spaced and lost about half an hour during breakfast. It was a good discussion though, and there was some interesting insight into the mind of Sony execs and their marketing staff. I hope they release everything they have stuck in the vaults, because the videos have been really good so. Afterward was the post mortem on Team Atlantis. Which will be coming to video after a fashion to a retailer near you. Buy that too and show Disney that they've been shortsighted.

I was definately starting to feel the last couple of days so though I popped in briefly for the Voice Acting Workshop (Suggestion to next year's staff - schedule that before tryouts - Please?) I mostly concentrated on setting up our next afterhours event - A dinner at a restaurant that didn't serve pancakes or waffles and a trip to the Yorktown Ghostwalk.

I slept through Closing Ceremonies so somebody else will have to report on that, but did wake up in time to round up all of our party of ten and head out of the convention.

The hotel recommended the restaurant whose name I think was the Whaling Company ( I was still having a godawful time hanging on to details by that point). The food was good, the company excellent and we made it out of the restuarant in time to make our bus at the Yorktown Visitor Center. Btw, this was my only blind panic moment of the evening, I was sure for several seconds that I'd misunderstood the guy on the phone and taken ten people to the wrong place. I was more than a little relieved when the person I asked for information turned out to be our tour coordinator.

The cruise was dorky. I didn't realize they were just going around in a big circle otherwise I would have hauled everybody above decks. But it was a chance for some of our party to catch a quick nap. By the time the boat landed and we were segregated out for another bus ride we had gained some more Gathering folk. We ended up a party of fourteen and when our tour guide Rita asked if we were some kind of a fraternity having an initiation ritual (Not sure but I'm sure it had to do with Kyt on a leash that was sending her thoughts that direction) I replied no we were all part of a family reunion, which really wasn't too far from the truth.

It was a pleasant night. The company was fine and the fireflys were pretty. We lost part of our group on the walk back to the car because they were gawking at the twinkly lights.

We got back to the hotel in time to catch a portion of the Dead Dog Party, but the conversation wasn't really in keeping with the mellow evening we'd already enjoyed so it was back to my room for more conversation and later after the party broke up, girly time with Jen and Mandi. So ended Sunday or rather Monday morning.

Gathering Diary

Thursday or If It's 1AM it must be Denny's

Another year has rolled on past and it's Gathering time again. I'm on the same flight as the Gregs (that's Guler and Weisman) from Atlanta to Newport News and we all get stuck at Hartsfield for an extra hour and a half as a typical summer thunder storm rolls its way through. Eventually, it passes by and we're on our way only to be treated to another light show and a strange burnt umber moon in midflight.

We arrived in Newport News and there's Carol. She's been waiting for us for what probably seemed to her forever. We did try and call - honest! It's just everybody with a cell phone was having trouble that night.

Hotel yea! It's 1:00 in the morning and the lobby is packed with people checking in similarly delayed by weather. Fortunately, I knew I was getting in much later than my roommates Mandi and Christi so I asked them to leave a key for me at the desk. We're saved from making a big production practical joke out of Jen's surprise arrival when Greg sees her standing in the lobby chatting up a gaggle of other folks.

Stuff stashed, it's off to Denny's and what is becoming a late night tradition, driving some hapless waitress nuts while she attempts to deal with a table full of people most of whom haven't seen each other for a year.

Friday or Wait a Minute, Didn't You Plan This?

Friday after breakfast (nice people, honestly probably the nicest waitstaff I've ever run across, even if they were a bit dazed and confused) the day begins. I snag my badge early and chat a bit with Siryn and the others. Then I indulge in what is becoming another tradition, banging on Greg W's. door for a early (for him) morning wake up call. This year I'm on legitimate business, I'm delivering his convention badge and making sure he's awake and ready for his first Mug a Guest. A Mug, for anybody who's wondering is an opportunity for a small group of people (usually less than ten) to chat up a guest on any subject they care to broach.

That duty accomplished, it's back downstairs to help out in the Art Room with set up, catch up with folks and try and attend a Writers Workshop. Kudos to Kellie Faye for an intersting excercise involving canon characters and an trigold set emerald. I did get a little twitchy, I'll admit. One of the downsides of staying up late is a certain amount of continual motion is necessary to stay alert. So I snuck next door to audition for the Radio Play. It was an interesting experience. I'm not sure why I got so bloody nervous, maybe because the last thing I ever acted in was "Sory Wrong Number" (hey, I had the lead!) but that was in the 8th grade. Anyway, back to the workshop to hear everyone's writing sample and guess which characters they'd been assigned. I must have done something right there, because nearly everybody guessed I'd been assigned Goliath.

After the seminar it was time for more chatting. I apologize to everyone for not naming names, but frankly, all the specifics have run together in a massive blur. I will say that I enjoyed myself thoroughly, that I was really glad to see whereall some of you have taken yourselves, especially those younger folk who I've known for several years now and watched grow up and also that I've rarely laughed so long and so hard in all my life. Whoever tagged me "Betty", my ribs still hurt, thank you very much!

Opening Ceremonies - Wow look at all the fresh meat! Seriously, it was neat to see all the new faces at opening ceremonies. I hope you guys had a great time and will be back again next year. Greg brought out his stories - (Greg - you might want to have those tapes transfered to DVD so they don't get trashed) and the New York Crew made their opening pitch for next year. It sounds like an awsome amount of planning has already gone into 2003, which should translate into a terrific time for all. Go you New York Clannies!

But back to this year, and Si and her crew who did a bang up job. Free swag for all from Toon Disney! And all they had to do is read a short advertisement. And best of all Gargoyles DVD's coming soon (well, in a year or so) to a retailer near you!) And because the excitement never stops, the announcement to run, not walk to your nearest Disney Store to buy Gargoyles lapel pins (only $5.00) new to stores now. Let's show those marketing people there's a consumer base for Gargoyles. If we buy the little stuff now, they may reward us later.

And finally, it's 8:00 and I'm supposed to be on a Fanfiction Panel. My fellow cohorts were to be Patrick Toman (because we write together as Madame Destine for the 3 people not in on that secret), Moon Cat, Spacebaby and Mara. Somewhere along the line we were supposed to get together and come up with a presentation but that didn't quite happen.

Oh well, what do you do when you have no formal presentation, but want to engage an audience? Go fishing!! Which is what I did. We started with Slash since it seemed that some of our audience were slash writers ( a nibble, but no real bite). Moved on to the whys of pen names (can't do much with that one).

Greg thought he was making us nervous so he bailed. Which was his loss because then we started in on deconstructing a character to figure out how to place him in an unusual situation (because not all adult oriented fic is about chains and whipped cream) and the conversation really started to fly.

We ended up deconstructing Anton Sevarius, coming up with a really strange backstory for the guy and having a great time. I'm afraid I got a little manic, which is what I do when I'm nervous, so to my co presenters Mea Culpa.

We finally wrapped things up and now I'm a little blurry. Oh right, we went to the Con Suite and enjoyed an excellent Chinese dinner courtesy of Lexy and Kai. (A long and happy life to you both. ) And as always when a bunch of people get together we ended up talking until all hours of the morning. Greg was bogarting the bottled water so I swiped one just on general principals. Because, you know, sometimes you just gotta.

Eventually, I snuck back to my room, (my roommates were long out of it) and caught a couple of hours of shut eye.

**pokes her head in**

Contrary to how I currently feel, I'm not dead. :) For those who saw me stumbling around Busch Gardens Monday morning and then putting off my departure time to make up for it, I did survive the trip home. Didn't get back til 11 on Monday night, but I made it in one piece. I'm taking a bus or a train to G2003; no power on earth is going to make me take another four-hour car trip like that all by my lonesome. Ow.

Spacebabie> "Art students?" LOL! Still prefer Kathy's explanation that we were a "family reunion" to the Yorktown tour guide... :)

If anyone's wondering why I'll be even less active these next few weeks... my computer's in storage while I wait for my new place to open up. I hope to have my machine set up in the new place and have Net access by the 21st. Until then, I'm only going to be able to get to the computer from work. *sigh* Yeah, withdrawal's setting in already. :)

Not much doing today. My mentor got back today, which means I should have some idea of what I'm supposed to do this summer by the end of the week. I'm thinking about working Thursday and taking friday off.

Got my LSAT prep stuff in the mail today. Sheesh, this is gonna be a lot of work. And my GRE tutoring starts on monday. I hope all this is worth the trouble. Watch me graduate and go right to work. In about two weeks, I may deny this CR the pleasure of my nightly presence until late August. I have a visitor coming and between the visitor and my classes and my job I just don't think there will be time for my typical nightly posts. But I'll still check the CR at work and post witless one-liners and such.

Buffy the Musical was on tonight. I couldn't stand to watch it for more than 24 seconds.

Patrick: <<I feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation>>>: I feel the same way. Maybe that's because I'm working during my vacation. <<Disney has decided to release episodes of "Gargoyles" on DVD some time in 2003>>: Which ones? Details, people! <<time to buy a DVD player>>: A dilbert-clone like yourself doesn't already have one? <<Toon Disney sent G2002 a whole bunch of excess "Gargoyles" merchandise>>: That was nice of them. What's the catch? Not that I don't trust Toon Disney... <<I don't think I'll ever be mistaken for Laura San Giacomo>>: Maybe if you lost 50 lbs. <<make my triumphant return to Cubicle Land>>: Isn't it not triumphant if you return, by default?

Todd: <<Do I even want to know?>>: Having seen the picture, no you don't. <<Sometimes I feel that this place gets crazier all the time>>: Its not a feeling, its a fact.

Warpmind: <<Navigating through the driver disc WAS>>: A driver? For a monitor? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. <<a forked tongue, however>>: I'm almost tempted to have that surgery...just to pick up chicks. <<your dad sounds like someone whose dinner I'd gladly spike with laxatives>>: LOL! <<I'm no longer shrunk; I'm back, and bigger than ever>>: If you'll excuse me, I didn't need that information. <<last year in LA was precious. (Despite a couple let-downs that I'll refrain from specifying here>>: Sorry, didn't mean to let you down...but hardly surprised that I did. <<Not compared to Aaron and Mara's costumes last year>>: No, that was nothing. Mara can draw on her face with black marker till she turns blue...won't make her look the way crzy did.

Spacebabie: <<He bought the whole family prezzies.>>: That was nice of him. I wish the moron in my family did that when he went on trips. Then again, I just wish he'd go on trips. <<in wa way we were all at a bed and breakfast>>: Except most of the people there weren't having any sex. <<She gave me a picture that she made just for me. IT RULZ!>>: She did the same for me last year. I loved it. It's now on the wall in my apartment. <<Both Greg's were there>>: I don't remember Greg showing up at the LA adult panel. <<Kathy brought u some interesting ideas on what to do with Severius>>: really!? <<Both eps wee from the Goliath Chronicles so they both deserved to be Msted>>: As we proved at G2k1, even classics like The Gathering can be MSTed. <<I gave my shirt to my dad>>: But will he wear it with pride? And if he does, do you really want to be seen with him? <<your not going to be a lurker>>: Where do you think she's been for the last few weeks? <<if you go next year then you will be a delicious eligble bachelor>>: You two have fun together. <<I would but I don’t know your exact address>>: You don't need someone's address to sue them. Just a name. A city helps. <<I think it was wither the second or third smallest>>: I don't think I'm surprised. <<I’m eligible>>: No you aren't. <<The only booze you can get is booze from Mexico…so yeah it is pretty good>>: My parents would give me there collection if I'd ask...and its aged 25 more years.

Lain: <<you know somethings REALLY wrong when it takes 3 and a half hours to get your computer started>>: HAHAHAHA. <<im guessing this is a BAD thing>>: Mac. Mac. Mac. <<the wedding dress she made for herself with a parachute>>: Sweet! I have pants made out of a parachute. They're really comfortable. <<get drowzy, and start dreaming that youre on a beach in tahit>>: So its like going to work? <<hence with the flaky vegetarianism>>: We forgive you. <<bites tongue from all jealous remarks that would follow if she did not>>: I feel the exact same way. <<someday i will be at the gathering>>: You're not that far from NYC. <<got my first phone and utility bills>>: I remember those. They suck. Hard. <<you people live in a wieeerd country, you know?>>: Tell me about it. Really lame. <<that wouldnt be so totally stupid if it werent for the fact that the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING was painted with nubile, fully nude young women>>: Note to self: go back to Italy. <<theres this one guy who has a big box of carved stone penises>>: A gay porn star? <<try to re-attatch them. what a job>>: Maybe he should hire John Bobbit. <<my dad got a girlfriend and remarried and now hes aaaaall better. sounds kinda twisted but its true>>: Sex makes men calm down. <<remind me to put you on my christmas card list>>: WEAK! I'm supposedly one of your favorite men and I'm not on your x-mas list. <<do you have instant messengers? i think im in love>>: Isn't that spot taken? <<is in africa. near the equator>>: Whoa! I was close. <<why do i know this useless stuff?>>: Everyone is a font of worthless information in one way or another. <<36 degrees is UN-CANADIAN>>: It was 38 here the other day.

Stephanie D: <<I am one of the few people who actually like filing>>: I remember that. <<Does anyone know where that is?>>: Northern Africa? <<Either of you would have to get permission from my boyfriend first>>: Permission is overrated. <<I don't know how to save them with Media Player, do you?>>: Use quicktime. <<The way I was taught, anyone who is not Catholic is a Protestant (one who protests>>: That sounds familiar. That's probably why I lumped them together. <<he refused to marry gay couples>>: I don't blame him. I'd have trouble getting married to two men as well ;-) Nevermind the legal issues.

Leo: <<Half of the images on the photo cd were reversed>>: behold the wonders of photoshop. <<Aaaagh, You said the word!>>: You give me 20 minutes, I'll ruin the CR ;-) <<whenever Greg W is holding a water bottle, he is always holding it.... well.. a certain way>>: Looking forward to seeing your pics, then.

DPH: <<My grandfather (on my mom's side) is not expected to live beyond 48 hours, barring a miracle>>: My condolences. <<you wonder why I can't trust him>>: No we don't. We're not as dumb as we look. <<we'll have to settle the issue of who is the most evasize when answering questions>>: I'll keep you posted. <<Is it safer to travel to a hotel where thieves are known to be around or a hotel where the honesty of its customers is well known?>>: Huh? What was the point of that?

Gside: <<A variant of Goodwin's Law holds that that does not count>>: LOL! Isn't that a slashdot thing only? <<she seemed to imply that she wanted one that did>>: Well then she should test them out. <<Assuming you could control the forks independantly>>: No, not necessarily. The mere surrounding effect might be more than enough. <<I've heard being shorn opens up a bunch of sensations>>: Kinky. <<Ever done a complete and utter scandisk? With a surface scan?>>: Back when my harddrive was 2.5 gigs, it was quick and painless. <<That the Knights of Ni cannot hear>>: Uh, no.

Time to sleep.

Going from DOS to Linux is like trading a glider for an F117.

Imzadi> <<Adolf Hitler. Problem solved>>: Not quite. A variant of Goodwin's Law holds that that does not count.
<<That doesn't make me feel any better>>: Good.
<<There are plenty of vibrators that don't depend on size>>: But she seemed to imply that she wanted one that did.

Warpmind> <<Now, a forked tongue, however>>: Assuming you could control the forks independantly. Might as well ask for tentacles by then.
<<I'm no longer shrunk; I'm back, and bigger than ever. It might have something to do with my latest shave>>: Yes, I've heard being shorn opens up a bunch of sensations.

Spacebabie> <<Well if you go next year then you will be a delicious eligble bachelor>>: Let's see, I'm in a suburb of that city, but I will probably be jobsearching or won't want to take a vacation a month after getting a job.

Lain> <<scandisk gets stuck at 76% and you have to restart>>: That reminds me. Ever done a complete and utter scandisk? With a surface scan?

Stephanie> <<Either of you would have to get permission from my boyfriend first>>: There'd still be a difference between his and Wilek's methods.
<<I don't know how to save them with Media Player>>: Don't save them with media player. Save them before media player starts. That's usually with right clicking the link to the file and saying "Save link as..." Or you could look up where media player saved teh temporary file, go there and move it out, then rename it.

Todd - <In the interest of preserving my sanity, I've decided *not* to click on Patrick's link (nothing personal, Patrick). Sometimes I feel that this place gets crazier all the time.> Don't you know that if we detected an increase in sanity in this room we would do something about it right away. So things are bound to get crazier.

Stephanie - <*Hugs DPH* you seem to need this.> Thanks. <"Under Divine Protection" I take that to mean something different than 'Under God'. It sounds like: don't
mess with us or God will smite you down, rather than a unifying idea. "I don't think it the phrasing 'under god' should be mandatory" > Well, removing the words "Under God" will be a decisive issue if it ever comes to a vote.

I have some bad news: My grandfather (on my mom's side) is not expected to live beyond 48 hours, barring a miracle. I think in his case, the quality of life issue takes over.

Lain - <wow.. what a jerk. sounds like my dad..> And you wonder why I can't trust him.

Warpmind - <It's probably not an altogether good idea, but your dad sounds like someone whose dinner I'd gladly spike with laxatives..> He's a wimp because he couldn't handle haberno peppers in cornbread.

Imzadi - <Likewise.> If I'm at a Gathering with you in attendance, we'll have to settle the issue of who is the most evasize when answering questions. <He'll come back
eventually.> I would hate for him to miss an opportunity to join TGS and then spend lots of time asking to join TGS.

Here's a thought for a day: Is it safer to travel to a hotel where thieves are known to be around or a hotel where the honesty of its customers is well known?

I don't know weather or not I should point this out, but I'm going to.

It seems that in all my pictures, whenever Greg W is holding a water bottle, he is always holding it.... well.. a certain way.

I believe I've said enough now.

In the interest of preserving my sanity, I've decided *not* to click on Patrick's link (nothing personal, Patrick). Sometimes I feel that this place gets crazier all the time.

* The "Saber Dance" starts to play, and a small group of muskrats riding unicycles enters the comment room, doing a juggling act. They circle around Todd for a couple of minutes, then cycle back out again. *

See what I mean?

At any rate, thanks also for explaining about the meaning of "Atlantised". I hope that it doesn't become a widespread phenomenon.

Because Todd asked...

Atlantised - verb (past tense), deriving from the fate of Disney's "Team Atlantis" series: killed suddenly in the midst of production despite huge sums of money already invested.

As for your question of "Do I even want to know?"... click the link below for a pic of me, Mara, Aaron, and Crzy in costume if you wish to know. ;)

sorry abut 2nd post

Ahem... In the last post the part <"Would anyone else who went to G2002 like copies?"> should come after the first paragraph before the kittin stuff. Yeah, that's what I really meant, Spacebabie. ;-)

Picked up my gathering pictures today. Almost all 125 were decent. Half of the images on the photo cd were reversed, I could fix that myself but I'd want some of my money back, plus it would take time. I think I'll be making another trip to Moto Photo today. The prints are allright though. Have many pics of the masquerade. There wer some really good costumes that had lots of effort put into them. I think most winners deserved their prises.

Sad news: The kittin died this morning. They had brought it back home yesterday afternoon. They said he ate his last meal aroud 5 this morning and sometime between then and 8am he died. Never found out what was wrong. There was a small backyard funeral. They had named him "Mickey Blueeyes." *sigh*

--------------------------
Spacebabie:<the camera ate two of them. One was of Greg W. The other was of me in my costume between both Gregs.> I have a copy of you between the two Gregs. Mine came out. Greg G's eyes are closed and his head is down but I can superimpose his head from the picture I took of "Demona-May" and the Gregs. I also have two other pics of you in costume during the cosplay. I would rather send you a print because I'm not happy with the way the photo cd's look.. I'll send you some low-res copies of them.

Would anyone else who went to G2002 like copies?

Back at work, back to posting.
Spent the morning filing. I am one of the few people who actually like filing. I did not see any cool names, but I did see a new nationality: Mauritania. Does anyone know where that is?

I saw 'Lilo and Stitch' this weekend, it was great!
"Don't worry, my dog just found the chainsaw." LOL

*Hugs DPH* you seem to need this.

Lady Mystic: I could not find your e-mail address, but here are my thoughts on the CR updates: I like #1. #3 and #4 are nice, but the darker colours on the links do not show up on my old monitor.

Gside: "Who would you like to have confirm that? Wilek or I?" Either of you would have to get permission from my boyfriend first.
"Ah, bacon cheddar sauce. So good" I have a recipe for bacon-cheddar muffins, now those are good.
Just to clear everything up, I like your songs; unfortunately, I have a problem: I don't know how to save them with Media Player, do you?

Warpmind: "Norwegian TV2" Too bad. I bet it is in Norwegian too, eh?

Green Baron: "As for religion in pubclic schools" Up until about five years ago, all schools, both public and private, here in Québec were religious. I was educated in a Protestant Primary school and a Catholic Convent Secondary School. I much prefer the religious-divided school boards to the language-divided school boards that we have now. Québec is starting to have the same problems the U.S.A. had with segregation because of this (Bill 101).
"money from the UN winds up in Zurich anyway" Actually, the most main offices are in Geneva, not Zurich. In defense of an organization I dearly love and am loyal to, all UN organizations are so cash strapped that we have learned how to make the most of every penny spent. The money for UNICEF, CLF, WHO, etc. is spent mostly on exactly what it says: helping the children. UN civil servants are some of the worst paid in the world. I should know ;)
"Calling Unitarians and Deists Protestant is a stretch" The way I was taught, anyone who is not Catholic is a Protestant (one who protests).
"I recall the Anglican Archdiocese of British Columbia is going bankrupt from rogue priests and those gusy can marry" My Mom's Anglican Minister left the Church last year because he refused to marry gay couples; which is too bad because I used to do Girl Guides with his wife and daughters.

lain: "that time lucien buchard got that flesh-eating disease" YAY Strep. A! Too bad it didn't finish the job. To be fair, Bouchard was better than the bigot he replaced.

<Under God Debate> "Under Divine Protection" I take that to mean something different than 'Under God'. It sounds like: don't mess with us or God will smite you down, rather than a unifying idea. "I don't think it the phrasing 'under god' should be mandatory" This Hour Has 22 Minutes did a politically correct version of Canada's national anthem once; it was terribly funny. It also did not work at all.

Au revoir.

hoooooooookkkaaaaaayyyyy...

you know somethings REALLY wrong when it takes 3 and a half hours to get your computer started.. and scandisk gets stuck at 76% and you have to restart.. and then three hours later when your frikin computer actually starts, you try to access "my computer" and.. well.. there is no "my computer."

let me just say for the record.. EEEEEEEK!!!!!

im guessing this is a BAD thing :P

anyway, yay canada! *dances around with Yggdrasil*
the holiday weekend was good. got to hang with the dad and the step mother and the step sister her boyfriend and the scaryscary polish step grandparents who tell war stories for hours and hours and hours and then go swimming with undies and black lace underskirts on.. and tell you about the wedding dress she made for herself with a parachute.. interesting stuff.. but not on round 6 :P

re: freezing animals>> id heard that it was one of the nicest ways to kill an animal if you dont have the proper stuff for euthanasia (sp?). id also heard that freezing to death is one of the nicest ways to go.. apparently you get all cold and hypothermiated.. get drowzy, and start dreaming that youre on a beach in tahiti. so ive heard, anyways. since im a wimp, and i just cant flush my fishies ALIVE down the toilet when theyre sick and the medicine, i put them in ziplocks in my freezer. however, i get to be in the middle of the jan/MC discussion.. as i find both the killing of chicks for cat toys and conveyer-slaughter houses equally disgusting and reprehensible. hence with the flaky vegetarianism. so there!

all you gathering folks.. im glad you had fun *bites tongue from all jealous remarks that would follow if she did not*

someday.. someday i will be at the gathering.. maybe.. sorta..

speaking of money.. got my first phone and utility bills. meanwhile, 500$ later..
*spits on connection fees*

my gunjy-pie is gone.. and im trying not to think about it.. not that its working but.. points for effort?

josh>> <<I don't need to know that the president is having something done to his colon. I don't care if it is a matter of national security. The public does not need to know that much about the president's inner workings>> eeeeeeeeew!!! you people live in a wieeerd country, you know? the most *I* ever knew about a canadian politicians health was that time lucien buchard got that flesh-eating disease and it ate his leg... but then.. well.. it *WAS* lucien..

green baron>> <<The steel workers need to learn new skills or move to Canada and get free health care>> WOOHOO!!!! *does the happy dance of socialized medicine*
and a funny thing about catholics i thought youd enjoy.. my dad was in italy for his honeymoon, and he and the wife went to the vatican. they went to an old church, you know, for a tour-type-thing and there were these old catholic priest dudes passing out ponchos to all the women dressed in (GOD forbid) shorts and strappy tank tops. now.. that wouldnt be so totally stupid if it werent for the fact that the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING was painted with nubile, fully nude young women. another funny thing is.. theres this one guy who has a big box of carved stone penises.. and its his entire job to try and figure out which statues the clergy knocked them off way back when.. and try to re-attatch them. what a job :P

dph>> <<Yet he has told me that he loves me, but his actions don't show it. Why doesn't he get it? Why can't he let go and show his love? He threatened to call the police to have me arrested. He also threatened to change the locks on the doors to the house when I am gone>> wow.. what a jerk. sounds like my dad.. only then my dad got a girlfriend and remarried and now hes aaaaall better. sounds kinda twisted but its true. *offers consoling huggles* i wish there was something i could do.. :(

anyway, time to check out other stuff.. if the browser will hold up..

The Boy is back from Boston. He bought the whole family prezzies. For me he got me some Japanese snacky treats and a Latte Mg that has the words "Boston" on it. He enjoyed the Wolf Keychain.

Got my pictures developed, but the camera ate two of them. One was of Greg W. The other was of me in my costume between both Gregs.

Gathering Journal part II
Friday.

I woke up early and decided to find some breakfast. The hotel had a little resteraunt that sold breakfast. So in wa way we were all at a bed and breakfast.
After breakfast I just lounged around chatting unti reg opened.

Reg opened. Recieved my badge and our manilla pack that conatined a lot of stuff. I checked the schedual. The Badges were nice. They were on lanyards instead of on pins, and the lanyards were decorated with alien heads. The Lanyard fit with my Screen Name.

First thing I did was the Mug a guest with Greg W. He paused for a pic((Wich the camera ate)) and introduced himself. I told him this was my second. The previous was 2000 where I sat next to him at the banquet.
Went to the dealers room and scoped out the merchandise, Bought an Ice Storm Brooklyn. I went to put it away when I stopped to chat with Leo and a few others in the hall. Mara and aaron woke up. She gave me a picture that she made just for me. IT RULZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tried out for the Radio play and was at the Fanfic panel. Ate something and chatted with Greg B, Aaron((saw his tatoo)), Dreamie and Winterwolf.

Opeing Ceremonis was great, despite the fact that I was in the back. Saw the original panels as well as the panels for some of the spin offs. After I got a free shirt.

Afterwords I goofed off a bit and then went down for the adult fiction workshop. Both Greg's were there, but they left before we really got into a good discussion. Kathy brought u some interesting ideas on what to do with Severius.
Next was the MGK3000. Both eps wee from the Goliath Chronicles so they both deserved to be Msted.

Went to the 11:00 Greg thing. It was fun, spent a lot of time just yacking. I stayed until 1:00 Then Sleepy time.

Yay, 19" monitor all in place. :)
Plus, tomorrow, I'm going to the premiere party for the documentary I'm in. Got word of the party on Friday evening... Thus, I had two working days to arrange airplane tickets, credit at the bank, and everything. Huzzah for good planning, eh? :/ Oh, well, everything's prepared now... :)

Stephanie: Alas, I doubt you've got the channel in question - Norwegian TV2.

Gside: Lifting the 19" monitor into place wasn't the problem. Navigating through the driver disc WAS. (Obviously, not entirely a plug'n'play device... Of course, resolution's higher than ever, and DVDs are a joy to the eye, now...)

Josh: Doubtful. Six fingers ain't all it's cranked up to be - remember: that's one more finger you could dislocate or break. Now, a forked tongue, however... };)

DPH: It's probably not an altogether good idea, but your dad sounds like someone whose dinner I'd gladly spike with laxatives... õõ

Spacebabie: I'm no longer shrunk; I'm back, and bigger than ever. It might have something to do with my latest shave, of course. *Rubs smooth scalp* };)

Tribun: The Gathering is the annual Gargoyles convention. I couldn't go this year, but I assure you, last year in LA was precious. (Despite a couple let-downs that I'll refrain from specifying here.) :)

Crzy: You drawing on a goatee to look like Frakes isn't scary. Not compared to Aaron and Mara's costumes last year. };)

Well, that about sums up this post. I have got to finish packing before I get to the premiere party. Naturally, I must make sure to bring a game or two, as well... and a good book. Flying is *boring*, when done by airplane... :p

Twelve hours of sleep later and I'm still just kinda floating. I must be getting old... I feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. At least this year it worked out so I only have to work two days before getting a long weekend. Hooray for the 4th of July.

Quick tidbits from the con...

Greg announced that Disney has decided to release episodes of "Gargoyles" on DVD some time in 2003. (Note to self - time to buy a DVD player.)

Toon Disney sent G2002 a whole bunch of excess "Gargoyles" merchandise, so everyone who attended went home with some freebies this year. :)

A new verb that's apparently floating about Hollywood now was added to the fandom vocabulary: "Atlantised."

And yes... CrzyDemona does kinda look like Jonathon Frakes when she puts on a goatee. I don't think I'll ever be mistaken for Laura San Giacomo, though, even with the wig. :P

Almost did work all day today. Even if it was boring. Tomorrow one of the engineers who's been assigning me stuff is going on vacation, so I'll have little to do. Should be nice.

Only about 32 more working days. Not that I'm counting or anything. Okay so I am. Sue me.

Apple has acquired yet *another* creative software company, EMagic. They make some digital audio editing program. Windows version to be discontinued in September. Apple is starting to make it very difficult to do anything creative on anything other than a mac. Current speculation is that 3D Studio Max is next. That or Avid.

Does anyone know what the final count was for G2k2 attendance? I'm curious if it was as big as Los Angeles.

Today was a bad day for the legacy of the Wright brothers. Two planes collided over Germany. An American jet was forced to land when a fire broke out in the passenger compartment. A U.S. fighter accidentally dropped a bomb on an Afghan wedding. Brings to mind a quote from one of my favorite movies of all time: the Rock. "I swear, the whole world is being fedexed to hell in a hand basket." And now I will add that to my quote page.

Spacebabie: <<Damn Underwire>>: LOL. <<The people behind the desk asked us to either be quiet>>: HAHA you got in trouble. <<Now the Gathering was full of delicious eligible men>>: Too bad there are no eligible women to be paired with us ;-) <<You mean so far.>>: I'm extrapolating at least a month in advance. <<why would AA want to pick you up?>>: Dunno. I've got good booze? <<Don’t know what size>>: Not all vibrators require a "size". And even if you pick one that does...just guess. <<Are you guys art students?>>: No, much worse.

Mooncat: <<I'm taking showers twice a day just to keep "fresh".>>: Too much info. <<The keys are "hard" and you really have to punch them to type>>: I hate that. I've got one of those at work.

Tibun: <<What exactly is this Gathering 2002?>>: Its a convention for gargoyles fans. Held at random locations around the country.

Jan: << Abolishing that daily reminder of our unity as a people is a reach>>: They didn't abolish it. They declared it unconstitutional to force kids to say it. <<one nation under God>>: If you say so.

Todd: Best of luck with Pendragon!

Leo: <<My little digital cam was'nt working right>>: ACK! Nothing worse than a defective piece of technology. <<we compared exquipment.(Dont even think that, sickos>>: Too late. <<I came in second in the flash department>>: Too much info, given the last sentence. <<It sounds to me like they're asking us to watch THEIR kittin die for them>>: That's rough. Then again, they probably don't want their poor kid to have to watch it either. In any case, sucks. <<Let's se if we can get through the rest of the week without seing these words>>: Adolf Hitler. Problem solved.

Gside: <<You have seen my picture, right?>>: Yes I have. And I've seen my reflection. <<it might help with brainwashing>>: That doesn't make me feel any better. <<That still says nothing about me>>: Or me 8-) <<I think the general plan is to start small and work up>>: There are plenty of vibrators that don't depend on size. Also, most girls I know have stuck with one for a long time. <<everyone who went will be telling those of us who didn't go what it was like>>: The people who didn't go will then kill the ones who did.

DPH: <<I received a check from Gateway without a letter>>: Wow, I wish Apple would send those. <<is there something else going on with Gateway that I am not aware of?>>: Besides overcharging? <<I think that should be asy, considering Gunjack will be absent for a while>>: Fortunately, I've spoiled the fun. <<You try to get a straight answer out of me when I don't want to answer the question. Then you'll see how evasive I can be>>: Likewise. <<No one else cares about my relationship with my dad?>>: Or they don't have an opinion after hearing about it so many times. <<he'll be forced to be level headed and if he complains to me about embarassing him, I'll go to his wife and he'll get in trouble>>: I've tried this tactic. You have to be very careful, because if you embarass him, he'll *really* resent you. <<Congress shall pass no law establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.>>: You mean like forcing kids to admit to the existence of a god? <<How about replacing the words "Under God" with "Under Divine Protection"? That should accommodate almost everybody>>: Again, that assumes the existence of a higher being. <<It's hard to find people who have integrity and she thought your complaint demonstrated integrity on your part>>: In that case I have one thing to say to them: "SUCKERS!" <<The majority of Christians aren't communists>>: I know, I was just kidding. <<Do you know that you just agreed with Rush Limbaugh about having trouble understanding liberals?>>: Well, I am a registered republican. It doesn't surprise me that it would happen at least once in a while. <<if the opinions of the court are overturned quite often, why aren't some members replaced?>>: I assume its because the overturning is done by people NOT elected or supported from these states. <<I'm 5/10 plus 3/40 done with one of those projects>>: I hope its not math. <<What is the name of that guy who wanted to join TGS so badly?>>: He'll come back eventually.

Crzy: <<I am still amazed at how much a painted on goatee can make me look like Jonathan Frakes>>: I'm sure your husband is thrilled.

Okay, naptime.

I received a check from Gateway without a letter. There is an invoice description that says "over pymnt". Of course, I am guessing that means overpayment. One stupid question: Why am I just now getting it or is there something else going on with Gateway that I am not aware of?

Leo - <Let's se if we can get through the rest of the week without seing these words: > I think that should be asy, considering Gunjack will be absent for a while.

Imzadi - <No, that's me.> No, that's I. I'll prove it to you. You try to get a straight answer out of me when I don't want to answer the question. Then you'll see how evasive I can be. <What a jerk.> What? No one else cares about my relationship with my dad?

I plan on talking to my dad and his wife together. (I get along with her a lot better than my dad, but then again, I'm hard pressed to find someone I get along with worse than my dad). This has some advantages: he'll be forced to be level headed and if he complains to me about embarassing him, I'll go to his wife and he'll get in trouble.

Metaldemon - <But what about the Old Testament? Yes indeed, God had permitted warfare, etc. when He saw fit. But Christ took that power away from us and told us to humble ourselves and love our enemies and to bless them, not hunt them down and erradicate them.> Yes.

About the pledge of alliance, sheesh, I'm sick of the mention the constitutionally mandated "Separation of Church and State". That's not in the Constitution. I believe one of the amendments to the Bill of Rights states "Congress shall pass no law establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." How about replacing the words "Under God" with "Under Divine Protection"? That should accommodate almost everybody.

Green Baron - <Eventually, we must visit you. Rachale does have family in Western Arkansas.> Hmm. Good luck finding me. (If you do intend on proving otherwise, do it by email.) <Better motto: In God We Trust, but everyone else pays cash :) > Better motto: In God We Trust, everyone else including his messengers pay cash. <Actually, what truly made America a great nation instead of a shithole like most other revolution born nations (Cuba, France) was that George Washington refused to take power until it was given to him and he gave it back after 8 years.> Yes, some people don't seem to grasp the concept of government serving the people vs the government controlling the people.

Stephanie - <Rules of Crisis Management: 20 Thoughts To Get You Through Almost Any Crisis> Interesting.

Imzadi - <Despite not truly enjoying my job, the fact that I complained about having no work really made me stand out to GE HR, who has told my boss that they *really* want me for their management acceleration program next year and that she'd better not sour me on GE.> I can tell you the why. It's hard to find people who have integrity and she thought your complaint demonstrated integrity on your part. <This is redundant.> The majority of Christians aren't communists. < I think its a "rights of the living" thing. Not that I can really presume to understand liberals.> Do you know that you just agreed with Rush Limbaugh about having trouble understanding liberals? <Just because we're more liberal minded than the rest of the planet doesn't mean we're
automatically wrong (just wrong most of the time ;-)) > This sounds stupid, but if the opinions of the court are overturned quite often, why aren't some members replaced? <Welcome to the Twilight Zone! That is kinda weird.> What concerns me is that someone could post a message to a yahoo group using my email address without my knowledge.

DPH's hologram - <He is busy working on [Classified projects] that involve a lot of reading and typing, hoping he will find time pretty soon to make a full post.> I don't recall giving you permission to make that revelation. Oh well, I'm working my way towards reducing the amount of work left to do on those [Classified projects]. I'm 5/10 plus 3/40 done with one of those projects.

Winterwolf - <I hope your back is feeling better now.> Slowly, but surely it's getting better. Even though my trip in canoe left my shoulders sour, I pleasantly surpised with how well my back handled it. Speaking of my shoulders, the soreness is finally gone.

<The deadline (to accomodate the fact that the bulk of the fandom is most likely returning even now from the Gathering and resting up from the big event) for "signing up" is Monday, July 15, 2002.> What is the name of that guy who wanted to join TGS so badly?

Took my Gathering pics in to get developed today. I took about 120. I hope they turn out ok. I promissed people copies. My neck is still sore from carrying my heavy Nicon SLR around. My little digital cam was'nt working right. I met a couple of guys from Germany who also brought their SLRs and we compared exquipment.(Dont even think that, sickos)I think I came in second in the flash department.

Tribun> the story is now complte, A-gain. What you saw was my rough outline. I posted it to hold the place after Internet Explorer crashed and dumped the first completed story when I tried to post it. It's fixed now.

My excitement from the Gathering was snuffed whe I got somedepressing news. Thursday morning my nextdoor neighbors brought home a sweet little 4 week old carmal colored kittin as a birthday present for their youngest son. (I hav a picture i took of him holding his new pet resting contently in his arms.) Two days later, while I was at the gathering, the older son called my parents and told them something was wrong with the kittin. He sait it wouldn't move but it was still breathing. His parent's wern't home at the time he didn't know what to do (This is their first cat. His parents happened to come home a short time later to the situation. Since thier regular vet was closed on saturday they had to go to the emergency vet. Turnes out the kittin was infested with worms and was dehydrated, but that wasn't all, the vet told them he thought the kittin could have a malformed heart but he wasn't sure. While they waited they happened to wittned three more emergencies be brought in by their distraught owners only to have their pets die on the operating table or be put to sleep. He wasn't willing to give up on the kittin though. The kittin spent the night on iv's. Sunday morning the vet called and said the kittin wasn't eating and that they would be force feeding him. There was not much improvment from the previous night so the kept him another night. Vet still doesn't want to give up. Kittin was transfered back to the regular vet today, and as far we know he's still there. If that wasn't deperessing enough I learned this morning that the family had asked us to look afer the kittin IF thgey're able to bring him home, so they can go on a trip. (I may have misheard)

It sounds to me like they're asking us to watch THEIR kittin die for them.

Off to bed.

Sorry for the double-post, but here's an addition to my recruitment drive announcement:

First off, welcome back to everyone who was at the Gathering this year! I hope that you had a great time. (I still remember fondly last year's Gathering, and I'd certainly like to attend next year's in New York).

Next, here's a special TGS-related announcement:

SPECIAL RECRUITMENT DRIVE!!!!

We are now beginning a special recruitment drive for "TGS: Pendragon", which is currently being worked on in Breakdowns (alongside "Gargoyles" itself). Many of the people working on "Pendragon" during Breakdowns earlier have either had to resign from TGS outright due to having so much RL responsibility to attend to that they couldn't take part any more, or else have been bogged down with other matters lately and, while still part of the project, have been forced (against their wishes) into a state of low participation. Since "Pendragon" has a smaller staff than the other cycles do, we need some fresh blood to help us complete its fourth season; which is why I'm posting this recruitment request now.

Anyone who's interested in helping out on Season Four of "Pendragon" for TGS, please e-mail me at my address (given at the foot of this post), so that I can pass your offer on to the rest of the staff. However, applicants should be aware of these matters:

1. The focus on Season Four is intended to be on Arthur and his companions (mostly humans, except for Griff), rather than on the London clan, which will have a very small role this season - particularly since (under the current plans, and without giving too much away) Arthur will be spending the bulk of Season Four away from London, and, in the latter half of the season, outside the British Isles altogether. We're moving the London gargs away from being recurring figures in "Pendragon" (although they will no doubt make occasional appearances in "Gargoyles" itself, in connection with whatever international events may impact the gargoyle race as opposed to just Goliath and his clan).

2. Applicants should have enough free time to be able to participate freely in Breakdowns, and should be familiar with the first three seasons of "Pendragon".

3. It isn't necessary to be an Arthurian expert on this project, although it doesn't hurt. Many of the settings won't be in "Arthurian" locales or directly involving Arthurian elements (although some will).

Again, anybody interested in signing up to help with Pendragon (particularly with Breakdowns), please e-mail me at the address below. Thank you.

MC> for the record - chickens are not scalded alive. The actual process is that they are taken off the trucks and hung upside down on shackles that is a conveyor. This takes them to a kill room where a person takes the chicken's head, holds it firmly while slicing it's throat. The chicken will then flap it's wings and move around - thus causing most of the blood to flow downward (which is actually it's head since it's upside down). The chickens are then sent thru the scalding water/pickers - usually a set of 3 where they are scalded and feathers plucked off by these rubber finger like tenicles. The birds are dead by the time they reach the first scalder/picker. (It's preferred that the bird be dead before entering the scalder/picker, so they make every attempt to ensure that) Once they have left the final scalder/picker, their naked bodies continue on the conveyor shackles into the eviscurating room. The first mechanism removes their head and then people are stationed thru out the path with a trough of running water - each person has a particular "duty" in which they perform on the chicken.... where the final product is seasoned (if the buyer requests it), bagged, weighed, boxed and then placed into quick freeze storage.
I used to be the District Manager's secretary for Hudson Foods (large poultry company now renamed Willowbrook Farms) and had to spend 2 weeks in the plant learning every step of processing chickens and turkeys. Now, I'm sure they have probably updated or have some newer & more efficient methods since I was in the plant - but it's all still basically the same.
I am not a vegetarian, but I do not approve of inhumane treatment of animals. Even though it's a necessary procedure, I do not care to think about the slaughtering process of the rib eye steak that I enjoy.
Putting baby chicks in a freezer while they are still alive is inhumane. It may happen and it may be the quickest form of death - but that doesn't mean that I want to know about it nor do I like it when people talk of it as if it's nothing at all. That's cold and calluous.

Saying the pledge in school: American schoolchildren reciting the Pledge are celebrating the diversity and tolerance that make our nation one nation. Abolishing that daily reminder of our unity as a people is a reach
on the part of the courts, and it should be overturned.

The great strength of the United States is that we are and will continue to be, despite the liberal court's decision, one nation under God.

Yes, the Gathering did rock. All my praise to Siryn for the wonderful weekend. I had a great time. And it was great to see all you again, and meet some of you for the first time.

And of course, I've got to mention GATHERING 2003! Manhattan, June 27th to the 29th, 2003. Mark your calendars folks! More information soon.

Now I must run, in the last week, I have gotten perhaps only four hours of sleep. So if I seemed at all out of it, tired, or just plain stupid at the con it was due to lack of sleep.

Gathering report... soon.

Jan <<People freeze baby animals and they are called … well, I know what I call them. I don’t know which is worse… people that do this or the people who purchase such things or the people who talk of this so casually and appear to have no compassion whatsoever. They all rank about the same in my book. *totally disgusted*>>

Hmmm... didn't know you were a vegetarian Jan. The way food for people is killed is far more painful than feezing. The whole point of freezing is painless "humane" death of a food animal. Or if you meant my considering euthanizing a poor savaged baby bunny, so it wouldn't suffer a lingering death that could last days... Sorry you feel disgusted by it, but I was thinking of the baby bunny's best interest.

As for domestic cats needing baby chicks in their diet, the cats I was speaking of were Asian Leopard Cats and foundation (early generation hybrids)Bengals. I'm sure a full and rich life of being kept in a tiny pen and fed up for a few months until the chicken is ready to slaughter for human consumption, scalded alive for easier removal of feathers, etc, is being denied the baby chicks who are made into frozen kitty pop snacks, but somehow I don't think they are missing all that much.

Judeo Christianity -- JC did not invent the values we pride our country on. Plenty of non Judeo Christians have the same good values, which are based on their own belief system or personal inclination. Plenty of Judeo Christian dominated countries out there, some in fine shape, others are in the crapper. Forcing people to say "under god" isn't going to make the this country any better or worse. People want to say it, then let them (it is a free country after all). I don't think it the phrasing 'under god' should be mandatory. We are a diverse nation whose citzens enjoy the freedom to honor their own belief systems, and should not be made to give lip service to that of one they do not follow.

That said, I think people should be allowed to pledge allegience to their country however they want, but it shouldn't be part of a school curriculum. If someone is feeling patriotic they can plege allegiance anytime they want. More power to them.

Now visiting a dear friend in VA. Yayyyyyyyy!! Gods it's gorgeous here! Her house is amazing. Her kids are super! They attached themself like velcro to me. But they are so adorable, I didn't mind a bit. My friend has amazing genes, and a great mate, she made some fantastic babies. I gave them Gargoyles puzzles and coloring books I picked up at the Gathering >^,,^< They are nuts over them *^_^*

In Virginia, staying with a friend. Gorgeous country out here. High moisture content. I'm taking showers twice a day just to keep "fresh".

On my friend's computer.

The keys are "hard" and you really have to punch them to type. Going to move over to my lap top, see if it works better.

Eeep.
I should have been more clear My top ten was on behalf off all those who post here in TGS went to the Gatherin.that included: Leo, Revel, Mara-sama, Aaron, Emambu,MetalDemon, GXB, Siryn, Mooncat, Patrick, Kathy, Mandolin, Winter Wolf, Dreamy, and Crzy.

Thursday:
Upon arriving at the airport we noticed the line for Airtran was too long. Dad figured my large suitcase could fit overhead. We said farewel at the Scanner. After I went through they checked me out with the wand. Damn Underwire!
I got checked out again before I got on my flight. Went through my suitcase, bags and shoes. (Thank You Mr Reed)

The Flight was allright. Pretzels and diet soda for a snack. Got off and met Leo and his brother, Ed. We chatted while waiting for Revel.
After getting our room keys we bumped into more gathering members in the Lobby. Some remember me from 2000. Leo, Edward, Revel and I had dinner.

Walking back from the resteraunt it started to rain, so we sped up. We decided to lounge in the lobby and talked with the people there. The people behind the desk asked us to either be quiet or go to the pool.

I went to the pool, the water wa freezing. Mostly talked in the water with other gathering member. Afterwords I redressed bought a soda and talked some more. Went outside and heard some good stories. Mostly involving Walmat and Red necks.
Then I went to bed. Mooncat did not show up that night.
