Imzadi> <<Yes>>: Spacebabie might disagree with you, there.
<<True. And un-smelly>>: But no matter what, Dylan is incomprehensible.

Silverbolt> <<You know it!>>: Muchly.

Spacebabie> <<but dont you live in New Jersey?>>: Yes, but not Atlantic City.
<<Shes not interested either>>: But if she's you, why'd she bet you couldn't resist me?
<<I have to see this, er taste this>>: Perhaps eventually. Or maybe I could share the recipe.

Andrea> <<I though a few questions would help spice it up>>: Lex, ..., Lex.

Good news: I am registered for classes next semester. Better news: I have all my classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays so I don't have to drive to college every day.

Imzadi - <Normally I'd agree, but right now I'm having trouble with the republicans and their stance guarding well-established companies against new and inventive technology.> That's my problem with Republicans.

I may suprise some by saying I'm favor of legalizing drugs as long as I don't have to pay for the consequences of somebody using them. The morons who have been smoking for years get NO help from me paying for medical bills. Sorry, but tough luck.

Patrick - <The sales tax rate here in Cuyahoga County, Ohio is 7 percent and a good portion of that goes directly to subsidize public transportation and cover the cost of the stadiums and arenas we've been forced to build to keep pro sports here.> I really believe that instead of giving players raises, money oughta be spent on cutting the costs of tickets to games and paying off those millionaire dollar stadiums.

Green Baron - <I have seen a lot of good with deregulation, like in the trucking industry and the military.> California is a bad example of deregulation, of course, they won't let electric prices go up a small amount at a time so the prices had to go up all at once. <That is our Constitutional right, until we become a theocracy run by Jesse Jackson were social justice is enforced at gun point.> I don't like theocracies because too much potential for abuse, especially after reading what happenned during the Crusades. <Some of the people who support the tax increase see a far greater benefit than the price they'd have to pay> That's the problem. I know people who would not vote to raise taxes to hire more police officers. What worries me is people who want big government and don't want to pay for it. Do you know that in Arkansas that it takes a super majority to change the income tax code? What's your take on that?

I'm mad that the amendment to remove sales tax from groceries and medicine failed, but I heard good news that it will be back.

Archwolf - < I am really enjoying the TGS eps this season.> Thanks.

Spacebabie - <over throw Eisner of Disney…replace him with Greg Weisman and let him create as many spins offs as he wants> Hmm. Where can I sign the petition to place you on the ballot?

Reminder: the week after the season finale of Timedancer is published, the new credits for the TGS staff of season 4 will be published.

*yawn* This room has been boring me lately. So I though a few questions would help spice it up (and if anyone has pulled this stunt in the past, I'm sorry. I'm still fairly new here.

1) Who is your favorite Gargoyles cahracter and why? (only those from the show, not another other works)
2) Least fave and why?
3) Which garg character ar you most like?

There. I'll post my own answers after a few of you post some. I don't want to feel like a TOTAL retard.

Now I have to fill out the form to get my passport. My family (and another family we're very close with, we see them as our family) are all going on a cruise to the Bahahmas in February. It's going to be soo much fun. There are 21 of us going, and when the 19 of us(since 2 of them are "guests" ) get together, chaos ensues. I'm suprised none of us have laughed our way to a heart attack yet.

Well, its been a while, but i'm still lurking. I am really enjoying the TGS eps this season. Most of them. The last two have been solid, but too short for my liking *grins* i like the ones that used to take an hour or two to read.

And on that note. It's been almost a year, but I was finally able to finish my second fic. So, if any of you who read the first one would care to see what the heck is going on, by almeans, check the fanfic archive, or take the link to the New Stories page

Feedback is cool, too.

Nothing much to add on the political stuff. I did vote (by absentee ballot) and my voting strategy makes both Tim and Stan-at-work clutch their heads in agony. So best not to go into it here <g>

Yay we got a cold snap! I also got a shot on Wednesday. A flu shot. As normal the needle didn’t hurt but my arm felt like it had a muscle pulled a few hours later. It’s better than being stuck in bed feeling hot and achy all over with stuff oozing out of your face holes.

Aint I just a bundle of sugar fluff today?

Thursdays are just too !@#$ing long, all those classes that last until 8. On the plus side, I've already started making a dent in my work for the weekend. Just in time to maybe hit the library, give The Barracuda's latest fic a detailed review, and clean the apartment.

And maybe get a chance to study for my steel midterm. Oh, the joys of being me.

Last night brought Berkeley's first rain of the winter, and today we had a huge storm with wind, rain, thunder, lightning, the works. !@#$. I hate weather.

Patrick: <<A person who lives in Yorktown, VA, site of the British surrender at the end of the Revolutionary War, arguing for taxation without representation. Okay... maybe it's not a perfect definition>>: Its pretty close. Impressive that you noticed that. <<usual prime time bombardment of mindless ads for useless products and bad fast food>>: Don't tell me you aren't interested in those two chicks with the applicator-less tampon and the newest happy meal theme at McDonalds! <<They call it a "sin tax." Can you say "extortion" boys and girls?>>: I think vice taxes are a great idea. Especially with the damage they do to the rest of us. Second-hand smoke, drunk drivers, and lowered property values are caused by very legal smoking, drinking, and strip clubs. Its taking so much from me, surely you can be troubled to spring a few extra bucks for it. That said, I'm rarely offended when I pay $6 for a drink. <<refuse to answer the cashier when he/she asks "What is your zip code>>: I'm going to start doing that, and see what happens.

Kathy: <<political boondoggles whose contracts would go to those with friends in high places>>: True, but the job would at least get done. <<slammed daily with phone calls both from live people and (more annoyingly) allegedly illegal taped messages>>: Yeah, me too. <<If you're shilling for some politician get bent. I don't want to talk to you. All others please stay on the line, someone will be with you shortly>>: That'd be pretty funny, unfortunately it doesn't stop the automated calling machines.

Silvadel: <<Someone who earns $250k doesnt spend ~$100k on taxable goods>>: Only because we get taxed more than that!

Green Baron: <<I imagine Imzadi and Crzy will both agree that Nancy Pelosi is _not_ a reason they like California>>: Personally, I'm a big fan of the weather. Though right now it sucks. <<so a bunch of Islamic fanatics can get welfare checks for moving into your country>>: As opposed to this country, where women are paid to have babies. Much better. <<I would support a massive gasoline tax to increase public transportation for anywhere I'd want to visit>>: I think I'd support that too. I'd happily pay an extra buck per gallon to eliminate 50% of the assholes on the road! <<Imzadi would vote differently on that issue for perfectly rational reasons>>: Well, if the money went straight to public transportation I'm all for it. Living in the bay area these last few years has shown me what potential public transit really has (even if it is far from well-executed here, its still 100x better than L.A.), and I'm strongly in favor of it for the sake of the environment. Note that this is not the same as a hippy, who will insist that we immediately and irrevocably give up fossil fuels. I don't think we're ready for that move yet. Not that I wouldn't like to see it happen some day. <<I'd like to see Larry Elder run for teh Senate against Barbara Boxer>>: That would be SOO great! I love Larry Elder, he's so frikkin' brilliant. I listen to his show frequently when I'm in L.A. Many callers ask when he's gonna run, but he always says he has no political aspirations. I guess its true: those who can't, teach. <<I also think the California GOP and Libertarians shoudl merge against the common foe>>: Normally I'd agree, but right now I'm having trouble with the republicans and their stance guarding well-established companies against new and inventive technology. <<at one time the Army could not buy condiments from any vendor>>: That's nothing. Our gov't has a public bid every few years for PENCILS! <<releases hippie seeking missles>>: HAHAHA. <<Next I must start a PAC to fund Imzadi and Greg X for their future office seeking...the TGS CR PAC>>: Hmmm...

What do you think, Greg?

DPH: <<I'd like collect from that PAC if I run. Issue 1: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you>>: Sorry, you obviously don't have the same goals as the people the PAC was started for.

Gside: <<Which one?>>: Yes. <<hippie music is good>>: True. And un-smelly.

Green Baron: Don't be fooled. Blair's first term in office saw the greatest tax hike in peacetime Britain and because it was all slid under the carpet in what Fracis Maude brilliantly labelled "stealth taxes", they're often not noticed. The September 2000 fuel blockade aside, issues like the taxation of pensions and so on won't be felt until further down the line - when it's too late. Meanwhile the amount of bureaucracy being generated is frankly enormous. He's trebled the number of government spin doctors, placed in tiers of regional departments and hired swathes of pen-pushers and clock-watchers. It's not even that his foreign policy is any good - it really is just trying to follow Bush. Think of his horrific anti-democratic stance on Gibraltar whose referendum he plans to ignore before he's even seen the results; or his deathly silence on Zimbabwe at the same time as he's willing to pontificate on how terrible Iraq is. For a man leading a war on terror, he's let out practically every IRA terrorist he ever had locked up. Simply because he isn't a Chirac or a Schroeder doesn't mean he isn't bad news.

Green Baron - Janet Huckabee didn't win.

I believe Libertarians are mostly stupid. They'll vote against any tax increase just because it is a tax increase. I believe in certain spending - good roads are good for business as an example. I believe public funding for schools works great because it stretches the burden of paying for education among more people. That means I believe in school vouchers, of course, provided the schools meet requirements in teaching the basic subjects. In the same manner, I believe in homeschooling provided random visits are allowed to ensure the child isn't being abused and the child is learning - not being used as child labor at mom's or dad's place of business. Also, there are some parents who shouldn't be teaching their children.

Fortunately, the biggest outcome of the election is potentially filling judicial appointments that were stalled because of Democrats. That's ridiculous about judicial appointments being stuck in committee without a vote.

Green Baron - <Now, I'm off. Next I must start a PAC to fund Imzadi and Greg X for their future office seeking...the TGS CR PAC :) > Hey, I'd like collect from that PAC if I run. Issue 1: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Kathy - <I'm glad the elections are over. I was in a marked demographic and slammed daily with phone calls both from live people and (more annoyingly) allegedly illegal taped messages including one from "King" Roy Barnes himself.> You don't want to hear about the scandal in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The judge ordered the polls remain open for an extra 1.5 hours at around 7:15pm and shortly afterwards people started getting phone calls about turning out to vote since the polls will be open longer than normal.

Stupid Pulaski Count using scanner sheets to vote.

Leo <York county has the some of lousiest public school facilities in the area.> Can't be any worse than the LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District). And in the Ontario-Montclair School District (which is in San Bernardino County and where my kids are), the students are mostly Hispanic, which would normally not be a bad thing, but when most of the Hispanic kids don't even speak English, then it causes my kids to suffer. Sales tax rantings...

The sales tax rate here in Cuyahoga County, Ohio is 7 percent and a good portion of that goes directly to subsidize public transportation and cover the cost of the stadiums and arenas we've been forced to build to keep pro sports here. Pro sports teams that don't even play 0.500 ball, BTW. Oh, and if you buy cigarrettes or alcohol, the sales taxes are even higher, for the exact same reason. They call it a "sin tax." Can you say "extortion" boys and girls? I knew you could.

What annoys me most, though, is how they attempt to make the higher sales tax rate follow you when you travel to a store in an adjacent county. Want to to really "turn on the fun" at the local Best Buy? Try purchasing a CD with cash and refuse to answer the cashier when he/she asks "What is your zip code." That's only slightly less annoying than Radio Shack wanting your full name and mailing address in order to sell you a $2 watch battery.

And that's my 2 cents (including 7 percent sales tax) on that issue.

Greetings all. Another glorious day. Gephardt will be stepping down as House Minority Leader. So far, it will be a debate if Nancy Pelosi or Martin Frost will replace him. Frost is probably the wiser choice, and I imagine Imzadi and Crzy will both agree that Nancy Pelosi is _not_ a reason they like California :) I imagien even Taleweaver is a quasi-liberal would prefer Frost, instead of Nancy Pelosi who represents the George McGovern/Barbara Streissand/Tofu wing of the Democratic Party.

Kathy> So Barnes was that bad. I was glad that Cleland lost. As irritating as religious right wingers (like Jenkins whose extremism allowed Mary Landrieu to win in 96)are and can be, religious left-wingers are a lot more obnoxious. Plus I think we need more reason to vote for a guy than he is in a weelchair and has one arm due to 'Nam. I guess Saxby Chambliss can roll his chair right on out of DC :)

Jesse Helms can take his scooter and head on back to North Carolina, too :) Maybe he'll run over that weasly looking John Edwards, too.

Now, I am as a whoel happy with Georgia. They got rid of Barnes, Cleland, Barr, and McKinney...I hope the door hits all their asses on the way out :)

Leo> Well, if you feel Virginia sales tax is too much, you can always move to Germnay and pay 16% sales tax, so a bunch of Islamic fanatics can get welfare checks for moving into your country :p

I can understand that you value the projects that woudl eb done, but the voters do not want it bad enough to pay for it. We live in an imperfect world and yes the majority of Americans make me feel a certain elitist feeling by comparison, but they are the stockholders and they used the proxy to not do these projects. In New Orleans, we have poor services and low taxes....no we can raise our taxes and get the same poor services and richer politicians....I may be willing to pay a higher price if the service I get is more valuable to me....but guess what, there is a reason the FBI had a two year probe on New Orleans City Hall. Now, I don't know about Yorktown, but if they don't want to pay more, what right do we have to tell them differently. If Virginians wanted to be told what they should and should not do, they'd elect Pat Robertson as Governor or that prick Jim Moran (on the opposite side of the spectrum).

<<We Americans are selfish.>> Number one-- That is our Constitutional right, until we become a theocracy run by Jesse Jackson were social justice is enforced at gun point.

Number two-- Some of the poepl who support the tax increase see a far greater benefit than the price they'd have to pay, like I would support a massive gasoline tax to increase public transportation for anywhere I'd want to visit....I'd be selfish...and as I don't drive and I do use the bus...I'd be perfectly rational to do that :)

Impfac or Imzadi would vote differently on that issue for perfectly rational reasons....now I gotta stop teh Econ lecture before I get annoying...well more annoying than usual :)

Silvadel> Furio to the Chief Justice of the NJ Supreme Court: There was a bee on your nose :)

Imzadi> I agree on Hollings, but unseating a SC incumbent....that's tougher than unseating a Louisiana incumbent, but I am hoping the latter happens next month, so hopefully Hollings can go, too, or retire as he has been in there too long, too.

Now, for California.....I'd like to see Larry Elder run for teh Senate against Barbara Boxer...I also think the California GOP and Libertarians shoudl merge against the common foe....the same goes for Massachusettes where the Republicans can only win the Governors mansion.

Lain> I'm someone who believes unloading a few clips of ammo on Government bureacrats, especially social workers every five years is a good way to clean house :) I have seen a lot of good with deregulation, like in the trucking industry and the military. The government regulations are the main reason we have $600 hammers, and at one time the Army could not buy condiments from any vendor. They had to go through a Government contractor...talk about just plain f*cking stupid!!!!

When Rotor Rooter,a private company took over teh water services in New Orleans, there was a tremendous improvement in quality.

You're voting NDP? Those guys scare me. Do they give you a free red flag for registering with them :)

My ladyfriend in Newfoundland considers them a hazard zone :) I get to meet her in June right before G03 :)

Ed> I would be a Tory if I were English, so I understand your view, but given the choice of Tony Blair, Gerhard Schroeder, or Jacques Chirac, Blair doesn't seem that bad.

Coyote> So Granholm is part of a plan for Canada to take Michigan...scary ;)

Gside> <<Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's Lovedaw Won>> Hippies!!! ::releases hippie seeking missles::

GregX> If it's a consolation, Republican Grucci lost his seat in Long Island. IN NY, you could try running under as many parties as possible :)

<< nor would I conspire with terrorists to attack my own country to increase my power like him... oops, did I say that out loud ;)>> You've been watching tooo many Oliver Stone movies :p

Of course, that's better than the Poet Laureate of NJ, the raghead wannabe said 9/11 was a conspiracy between Bush and Sharon. I am so sick of the wave of anti-semitism spewing from these self-appointed pseudo intellectuals...and also that Germany is being all pro-Palestine, I bet the German governemnt is giving free copies of Mein Kampf to all the Palestinian children so they can read it before they become suicide bombers.

Forget the whole party thing...you could probably get the Republican and Libertarian backing and start running small, like Congress. I'll send you a contribution when you do run.

Now, I'm off. Next I must start a PAC to fund Imzadi and Greg X for their future office seeking...the TGS CR PAC :)

Leo -- When is one percent NOT one percent....

The sales tax is one tax where one percent can be HUGE...

Lets say you sell something like old video games where the price people are willing to pay is not going to just magically go up. Lets say you make a 25% profit after overhead is taken care of. Well that 1% tax just took 4% of your profits.

It can get even worse -- Lets say you are a coin dealer working on a 10% profit margin. In this case a 1% sales tax bump is a 10% tax.

Right now with your 4%, you are enjoying the benefits of having business move into your area from other areas because of the low sales tax. If that were raised to 5% then that advantage would be diminished or go away.

Actually IMHO the sales tax is one of the worst ways to raise money. It makes business leave the area or not build -- it lowers the worth of all items -- and it strikes disproportionately against those who do not have money to save(IE someone who earns $25k probably spends ~$10k on taxable goods. Someone who earns $250k doesnt spend ~$100k on taxable goods.) Lastly I do not like it on principle as it taxes money that has already been taxed.

Selfish? Maybe. Or maybe the majority of the voters saw the projects as more political boondoggles whose contracts would go to those with friends in high places. Wouldn't be the first time. Can't say. Don't live there. YMMV

I'm glad the elections are over. I was in a marked demographic and slammed daily with phone calls both from live people and (more annoyingly) allegedly illegal taped messages including one from "King" Roy Barnes himself. Yeah, I'm glad that SOB has been sent packing. It got to the point that I was answering the phone (in my head) "Phone number - If you're shilling for some politician get bent. I don't want to talk to you. All others please stay on the line, someone will be with you shortly." but I didn't because I've got too much other junk going on right now and people don't seem to understand the frustration. Mostly I just cussed out the script reading ejits and hung up on them.

I was torn last night between watching Birds of Prey and 1940's house. Birds of Prey was good right up until the end. I'm not loving those clocktower, message endings. 1940's house - well it was nice watching someone elses life suck for a while. Even if it was because they'd be placed in an artificial environment.

Late Happy Birthday, Spacebabie!

Patric:<<A person who lives in Yorktown, VA, site of the British surrender at the end of the Revolutionary War, arguing for taxation without representation.>>that wasn't the main focus of my rant. :-) The sales tax in York County is only 4%!! We're spoiled!! Every one here wants something for nothing!! And they'd rather do without it than "risk" paying for it. Especially if it doesn't concern them personally. We Americans are selfish.

Define "irony". A person who lives in Yorktown, VA, site of the British surrender at the end of the Revolutionary War, arguing for taxation without representation. Okay... maybe it's not a perfect definition, but it had to be said. Sorry, Leo. ;)

Yes, the elections are over. Now the mindless political ads are gone for another year, and we're back to the usual prime time bombardment of mindless ads for useless products and bad fast food. :P

Good news for me and anyone else in northeast Ohio looking to make it to The Gathering next June. Airtran has just announced that starting in March they will be adding two daily nonstop flights to New York's LaGuadia airport from the Akron-Canton regional airport, for $49 one way or $99 round trip on a 14-day advance purchase. That's less than half what you can expect to pay on a good day out of the Cleveland airport, and it's less than an hour's drive away. But since it's a small airport, it doesn't take two and a half hours to check in and cost $11 a day to park your car there, either. So bonuses all around. :)

Almost flipped out today when I discovered that we had potentially done our latest project milestone completely incorrectly and that we might have to start from scratch. Fortunately a couple of emails later and it looks like we'll be saved the trouble.

Joy.

Today Apple announced new iBooks and Powerbooks. Same form faster, just faster, bigger hard drives, better graphics cards, and most importantly: lower prices.

Election thoughts:

The republicans seem to rule the country right now. I know for sure that lots will get done, for better or worse. Lets hope they keep Ashcroft on a leash.

Spacebabie: <<Election day was yesterday>>: No shit. <<Lets usher in this age of evil>>: As opposed to an age of giving my money to underage mothers who are addicted to crack. <<please tell me I wasn’t the only one who wanted to see willow succeed and change RJ into a girl?>>: Her whole part in that plot was hysterical. <<Get yer lazy arse to the library stat!>>: I'd rather not. Maybe Friday if I'm in the mood. <<compressed into Jackson form it is easier to carry.>>: true. <<How could anyone pass on that?>>: It just doesn't do it for me. <<Knowing you it is more like “I would like to have some blond”>>: ::checks hair:: eh, its almost gone. Grown out. <<Don’t you have the same kind of chin fuzz now and then?>>: Nope. I've found that having facial hair is more annoying than semi-frequent nicks. <<You got Silverbolt and Silvadel confuzzled with each other>>: Eh, it happens.

Siryn: <<VJ day>>: Its VJ day?

Hyperion: <<There's just something about tactical lasers that warms the soul...and shoots down incoming projectiles>>: Projectiles are easy. Their flight path is ballistic. Missiles are more dangerous. <<given your lack os an singnificant Other>>: Who said anything about not having an SO? <<given your lack os an singnificant Other>>: Who've you been talking to?

Green Baron: <<Hawaiians re-elected Patty Mink, who died in September>>: I think the warm weather is getting to their brains. Glad I'm going there next month. <<his first act as Governor is to eat the legislature>>: HAHAHA. <<Strom Thurmond will retire from the Senate after his 100th birthday next month>>: I think he's really dead and they're doing a "weekend at Bernies" with him. <<Fritz Hollings will be the Senior Senator of South Carolina after being in that seat for 36 years>>: I really wish we could get rid of that guy. Anyone who supports hollywoods outrages copy protection bills can go !@#$ themselves and rot in hell.

Silvadel: Sorry, my bad.

Greg: <<we need a new third party strong enough to take both other parties out>>: And how would that magical party get the funding needed to run? <<I'm against PC censorship>>: What about Mac censorship? ;-) <<when the morons O.D. they're on their own to pay their own medical bills>>: Amen!

Leo: <<o instead of paying $100.00 you'd pay $101>>: Yeah, and if I only paid $100 in takes I wouldn't care. Unfortunately, I pay a lot more than that. I shouldn't have to pay more taxes, they should be able to make do with what they take. The problem isn't that they don't have enough money, the problem is that they don't know how to spend it. <<The mistake was letting the voters decide>>: WHAT!? Are you !@#$%ing nutz?! <<The politicians should have made the "hard decision" themselves, since both parties lobbied for it>>: I'm sorry, but the whole idea is that politicians are elected to represent the interests of the groups that elected them. How dare they presume to make decisions without my vote!

Gside: <<Can I talk to her>>: She doesn't exist, dude. <<If my mother made cheesecake>>: Its all about the tunnel of fudge cake. And no, that's not as dirty as it sounds.

Lain: <<republicans can kiss by bum>>: In yer dreams. You're just pissed because we don't want to give you our hard earned/stolen/inherited money. <<piss on youuuuu!!>>: No thanks, not really into that. <<one of those republicans that doesnt have eyes and ears, arent you?>>: As opposed to a democrat with no brain? <<his nose is so far up dubyas arse that theyre breathin the same air>>: HAHA. <<to get stuff, you have to pay money. duh>>: The problem is that we already pay a LOT of money. Over 25% of each paycheck I got disappeared, and where are they spending that money?

38. If an enemy I have just killed has a younger sibling or offspring anywhere, I will find them and have them killed immediately, instead of waiting for them to grow up harboring feelings of vengeance towards me in my old age.

hyperion>> <<Seriously, I hope you do have heat for the winter and all>> thanks.. <<blar>> did you know this is actually a word? its gaelic.. o.O

green baron>> <<I figured deregulation would lower prices>> whered you figure THAT one from, twit?? :P ooooh youre one of those republicans that doesnt have eyes and ears, arent you?? hmmm.. :P sorry.. im feeling particularly uh.. "cold" for some reason today :P

impfac>> <<Deregulation is hard at first, of course, but over time things will mellow out I’m sure>> *shivers* oh shut up :P <<Given time the system will work itself out>> oooh, like it has everywhere ELSE, i assume :P and all thats provided i dont freeze or starve first :P <<Good luck with your bills>> thanks <<Sorry about the long showers I took>> yeeeeeaaaaah you better be. ill be sending you an invoice when i mail you your glasses back :P

greg b>> <<oops, did I say that out loud>> yes, yes you did..

ed>> <<Admittedly, a half-fossilised sweet wrapper could do a better job than Blair but still...>> might have something to do with the part where his nose is so far up dubyas arse that theyre breathin the same air... :P

leo>> << I am sick of hearing people whining "no tax hike" only to have them complain when they loose their jobs due to "Budget cuts">> dont make much sense, do it? <<It makes me sick that the majority of people would rather do without something than have to pay for it>> thats cause most people are arguably a) stubborn and b) stupid as rocks :P to get stuff, you have to pay money. duh.

GB: I am indeed very happy that David "Vote-For-Me-'Cause-I'm-King-Tree-Hugger" Bonior is no longer going to be my representative to Congress. Granted, it would've been like that anyway because he he resigned the position to make his ill-fated gubernatorial run ... but all the same, it's quite satisfying to see Candice Miller win the seat, considering she's actually *done* something in her previous position as Secretary of State (as opposed to Carl Marlinga's uncanny ability to do jack as the Macomb County prosecutor).

There's one consolation, though, that comes from Jennifer Granholm's election. Two, actually. One being, she wasn't supported by the Democrats in the primary because they can't take her nationally as a Presidential candidate (she was born in Canada), and the other being that in the great tradition of the state of Michigan, the people elected a Democratic governor ... but a Republican legislature. ;)

Spacebabie> <<Wanna bet?>>: As a general principle, I avoid it.
<<myself, scared yet?>>: Nope. So, that other you though you couldn't resist me. Can I talk to her?
<<Woo freaking hoo!>>: Sorry, I may have spoke too soon. That was the only edit I remembered, until someone mentioned electrocution.
<<On TiraMisu? How could anyone pass on that?>>: If my mother made cheesecake. Or I get the recipe, then make cheesecake.

Siryn> <<You would think it would be EASY to find the sailor kissing the nurse in times square on VJ day>>: Do a Google image search for "times square sailor" It comes up as the first 6 results.

And this mp3 is a tribute to a pun. Part of the reason I didn't get it the first time around was because I didn't know the song existed until I heard it on the Simpsons this weekend. Anyway, it's Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's Lovedaw Won... Sorry, that's Love the One You're With.

**election rant warning**

Well the state-wide proposal to raise the sales tax by 1% (JUST ONE F*&#ING PERCENT)to finance road construction and other transportation projects - like the Third tunnel crossing, and widening I-64 to 6 lanes - was voted down. IT WAS ONLY 1%!! - So instead of paying $100.00 you'd pay $101. I am sick of hearing people whining "no tax hike" only to have them complain when they loose their jobs due to "Budget cuts" Because of "budget cuts" as of next year CNU will nolonger offer a nursing degree. York county (where I live) has the some of lousiest public school facilities in the area. York County also has the lowest tax rate in the area. Hmmmm?

It makes me sick that the majority of people would rather do without something than have to pay for it. Usually it's for one of two reasons.

1)> selfish mentality (I HATE THIS!! I think all theese people deserve a smack upside the head.)
"I dont use that road why should I have to "donate" ONE PERCENT of MY hard earned money." or "I don't have kids, what do I care about public schools"

(I'm more forgiving with the next one.)
There's also those people who obsess over the possibility that some of that money NOT going toward what it was designated for and instead going into politicians pockets. (yes some of it could and most likely does. But still!!!)

Bottom line: The mistake was letting the voters decide. The politicians should have made the "hard decision" themselves, since both parties lobbied for it. :p

Isn't this a great country? :)

While I am pissed off to see the Republicans in power again, not that the Democrats make me happy either, we need a new third party strong enough to take both other parties out, under my leadership of course. You'd get the best of both worlds with me. I'm against PC censorship, against gun control, against stupid tax increases, against special interest groups, I'd keep religion out of government, I am pro-choice, pro Death Penalty, pro-cloning, not afraid of war but against the draft, against affirmative action, I'll drill for oil in Alaska so the sand monkeys won't hold us by the balls with their oil, and I'll have both the sex scandals and the money scandals! And I know how to speak English, unlike the Smirker, nor would I conspire with terrorists to attack my own country to increase my power like him... oops, did I say that out loud ;)

Vote me for President! And if not me, Rudy Giulianni.

Oh well, I did vote yesterday, for George Pataki and he won. So I'm happy.

See, I can vote for a Republican!

GO GWB AND THE REPUBLICANS!!!! WOHOO!!!!!!! We CRUSHED 'em! I can feel the appall among the students and pampered liberal elite of U. Albany already >:) Muahahhahahah!

*cough cough*

Sorry, sorry.

Pataki is still my governor in New York. I wanted the independent rich guy Golisano (sp) to win, but knew it wasn’t possible. I am simply angry that the ‘Republican’ continues to grow the size of government. He is also pro-abortion (to the level of allowing the harresment of pro-lifers around the state) and anti-gunner. Booooo! But, at least he isn’t the Democrat.

On a lighter note, after a mere $300 in repairs (mostly unrelated to the accident) Dom is back on her feet and good as ever: IMPFAC does not yield (or take the damn bus).

Lain: Deregulation is hard at first, of course, but over time things will mellow out I’m sure. Some utilities do not lend themselves to deregulation, IE water, but focusing on what happened the day *AFTER* deregulation is to ignore the system as a whole. Given time the system will work itself out. Good luck with your bills. Sorry about the long showers I took :P

Oh Happy Days!!! Well, not entirely.

Today is Election Day, and it was nice seeing all the results of these wacky times we live in :)

In Hawaii, Linda Lingle is elected. I think she is the second Republican Governor of Hawaii. Also, Hawaiians re-elected Patty Mink, who died in September. This is the second time we elected a dead guy and the first for one who has been dead without a successor to name. Since the Democrats have been able to have two dead candidates elected, the Republican Party should have Lincoln, Arakawa of California, Coolidge, Washington, LaGuardia, and Andrew Jackson who has announced that he will run as a Republican in South Carolina for the 2004 Senate election :)

Voodoo politics has had mixed results with the ressurection of zombies Walter Mondale and Frank Lautenberg from their political graves. Lautenberg won a dirty contest and hopefully New Jersey Democrats will face a backlash for it.

Walter Mondale was able to win the support of Minnesota in his 1984 run for the Presidency. This time, he didn't even get that much :)

Political dynasties are not what they used to be. In Maryland, Bob Ehrlich will be the first Republican Governor of Maryland since Spiro Agnew. I figured that since Kathleen Kennedy Townsend was the Blair Witch, she'd have been able to use some of that political vodoo being used in New Jersey and Minnesota.

But I shoudl be happy about New Jersey. Now, Louisiana politics look clean by comparison :) In Louisiana, dumb blonde Mary Landrieu failed to win 50% of the vote, so she will face a run off against Suzanne Haik Terrell, who used to be my Councilwoman. I don't like the Landrieu family and I hope they send her back to New Orleans...well, I wish she'd go somewhere else.

Tom Harkin was re-elected and I really wished he'd take a flight on a small plane in some bad weather. Let's pack Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Jim Jeffords, Pat Leahy, and Chris Dodd in that flight :)

Now to be a tad bipartisan, I am glad that Steve Largent lost the bid to be Governor of Oklahoma. Personally I think he has played too many games as a Seattle Sea Hawk without a helmet ;) I wish JC Watts would have run for Governor, personally.

In Alabama, Siegleman was narrowly re-elected. I would love to see Charles Barkley run in 2006 as the Republican candidate. Talk about progress. From George Wallace to Charles Barkley, plus I like Barkley's politics and take no crap attitude.

Some surprises: Gordon Smith was re-elected heavily in Oregon, and I thought he was vulnerable, consdiering Oregon is fairly liberal politically. Georgia's Governor and Senate election were a pleasant surprise as Saxby Chambliss defeated one-limbed Vietnam vet Max Cleland.

But I guess sympathy votes are not the tune of this campiagn. In Missouri, Jean Carnahan was defeated in her first election by Jim Talent. Now, I could be snide and make a joke about her coat tails being cut off, but she was very gracious in her concession speech as well as when she introduced John Ashcroft when he was nominated for Attorney General. I may not agree with her politics, but she is a lady in every sense of the word.

Speaking of ladies, Elizabeth Dole was elected in North Carolina and she is a vast improvement over Jesse Helms. I consider Elizabeth Dole ten times the feminist that Hillary could ever claim to be. She is an ideal role model for conservative Methodist feminists ::winks at Daphne::

In Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell was elected and his first act as Governor is to eat the legislature :) And considering his waistline, that would be a midnight snack :)

In Texas, Republicans win Governor and Senate seats, but it was odd that Democrats could have won them for a time.

Now, in Kansas, Sebelius's win surprised me, since I don't remember the last time Kansas had a Democratic Governor. Maybe Mooncat knows more of those deatails.

In New England, Republicans seem fairly good at Governorships, as Massachusettes, Connecticut, Rhode Island have Republican Governors, and now New Hampshire and Vermont join that group. In New Hampshire, Sununu narrowly defeated Shaheen for the US Senate, and I am very certain that she would have defeated Bob Smith. While dynasty politics have failed the Kennedy Clan ::does happy anti-Kennedy dance:: they benefit Sununu (I love saying that word) who's fatehr was Governor of New Hampshire.

The other state to benefit from dynasty politics is Florida where Jeb Bush was re-elected and also Katherine Harris is a Congresswoman from the 15th District. Hoepfully she can repair her image and maybe run against Graham or Nelson in an upcoming Senate race.

Michigan has a Democratic Governor, but Coyote can celebrate the fact that David Bonior is no longer his Congressman :)

In Kentcuky, Anne Northurp was re-elected in another tight race..yay!!!! I doubt anyone cares but me.

Strom Thurmond will retire from the Senate after his 100th birthday next month, and will be replaced by Lindesy Graham. Now, Fritz Hollings will be the Senior Senator of South Carolina after being in that seat for 36 years :)

In Arkansas the Hutchinson family is out of politics and the Pryor dynasty sets its base up. Huckabee was re-elected easily and DPH, did his wife get elected Sec of State?

In Ohio, Star Trek politics do not work as Taft defeats Captain Janeway's hubby and Jim Traficant is not re-elected. Even though he was crooked, I always liked his speeches and commentary, and it would have been very amusing if he got re-elected. After all, we wouldn't need an office for him :)

In South Dakota, Tim Johnson is ahead by 539 votes. I was hoping he'd lose just to watch that expression from Daschle's beady eyes :)

Now that my political sports announcing is done, I can make some replies :)

Imzadi> Actually, I doubt any of my ammo will be used. It's there, just in case. After all, I am in a Tax free combat zone :) Altogether I have signed for 210 rounds of ammo for my M16. I just hope the situation never arises where I need to use it.

Lain> I'm sorry to hear about that. I figured deregulation would lower prices, but I guess not.

Silvadel> I can sympathize coming from one of the most corrupt backwater third world states in the US. Granted, an incumbent may actually be defeated in the US Senate next month and our last Governor is in jail (this is good, because Louisiana Governors live above the law). And in NJ, one Senator purchases a Senate seat for 63 million dollars, while the Democratic party's Vodoo Chairman determines the recent election. BTW, are you going to Gathering 03? I'd love to meet you there.

Coyote> Well, then you have two great celebrations. No more Bonior and your anniversary with Ravyn :)

Impfac> My best advice for you is to TAKE THE BUS!!!!

Silverbolt> I don't know if I'd enjoy Guy Fawkes Day. I know what he did and why, and I kinda sympathize with the why though I think he was wrong. Now, the anniversary of Cromwell's beheading I will gladly celebrate :)

Winterwolf> He still got a Committe to head as a reward for the shift in power....If Zell Miller did what Jeffords did, I wonder how the reaction would be.

Heather> Gay sheep....I can see that. I think Attila's brother George was gay and I read that giraffes are endangered partly because many of them are homosexual so they don't reproduce.

Silvadel> <<Lautenburg wins, then resigns because he is too old... Now McGreevy can appoint whoever he wants... Even Torecelli who obviously couldnt win because of his misdeeds, or even worse Florio. I mean Forrester was 11 points in the lead against Torecelli -- a virtual lock ... He is now 12 points down against Lautenburg(the illegal replacement candidate -- though of an the incumbant of all things). This kind of bait and switch is going to become a regular part of politics(poly=many tics=blood sucking parasites politics=>many blood sucking parasites). Every successful negative campaign will end up with a switch to a different candidate while the "former victor" just comes out with a spent warchest.>> I definitely agree. I imagine Lautenberg will resign and McGreevey will apooint his own Democrat....maybe even Florio. This is an odd election season...Strom Thurmond retiring, candidates switching after the deadline, re-election of a dead Congresswoman, and former Presidential candidates running for the Senate.

This is the Political junkie signing off

Thanks to all who wished me a Happy Birthday

Election day was yesterday.

REPUBLICANS are back in charge folks. Lets usher in this age of evil.

Jeb Won! This is the first time a Republican won the governors seat twice in a row in Florida!

How did we celebrate our free nations day of having free choice?
By having a British dinner. Short ribs, peas and Yokrshire pudding. Mom filled the house with smoke when she made the pudding. They are a little like popovers except not as eggy and not as puffy. I americanized the ribs with BBQ sauce
*************SPOILERS FOR BOSTON PUBLIC, BUFFY, AND SMALLVILLE***

Boston Public>>>Good the put Goobers balls in the salad shooter. The rest of the episode was pretty funny with Lipschitz getting the men’s room graffiti wrong about Miss Cook and the way Marla and Danny were playing each other.

Buffy>>>Okay please tell me I wasn’t the only one who wanted to see willow succeed and change RJ into a girl? Liked the split screen that divided the four scenes. Loved seeing Spike tackle Buffy outside Wood’s office and he being impervious to it. Anya still really loves money. That elevator music pissed me off though.

Woohoo! I got a 48/50 on my wood design midterm! I do, in fact, know my wood. And I got a perfect score on my analysis homework. Yippee whippee! Whippee! (I'm Kaiser Wilhelm).

Anyway...

Fire Storm: <<wern't you just saying that they use the same drives>>: I meant same in the sense that they're standard size/shape/connection IDE, EIDE, or SCSI hard drives. I was referring to IBM as a brand name, not as a "PC-compatible" term. I'm not sure whose brand current Macs are shipping with. Mine shipped with an IBM. However, recent news indicates that IBM hard drives suck, which makes me glad that I got a Western Digital. I've been very happy with its performance. <<When I got my computer out, it was so unstable that I couldn't burn ANYTHING>>: I have trouble comprehending how merely putting your computer in storage can make it unstable, but then I remember that windows needs to periodically be re-installed. <<how do YOU back things up>>: I have a second hard drive: the IBM I mentioned earlier. If it fails, no biggy, just replace it (preferably with something larger...I'm kind of hoping it'll fail, actually). <<Less than a 50 pack>>: You could try DVD burning, or CD-RW's to save some cash. <<it won't install on Server>>: No, I meant actually installing Pro. <<another server program>>: Sorry, I meant another anti-virus program. One that *runs* on Server. <<there is the whole software issue>>: Don't give me that, you're a warez junkie. <<does any of the Mac OS's>>: *DO* any of the Mac OS's... <<support NON-RISC processors>>: There are two that do, but you have no hope of ever getting your hands on them, so we will say no. Besides, even if Apple did ship an operating system that ran on CISC (which is a shitty instruction set, btw), you wouldn't be able to run it anyway. They're not going to ditch their entire multi-billion dollar hardware business by making Mac OS X run on any old x86 box. <<pretty much exclusively the Motorola chips>>: Um...G3s are made by IBM almost exclusively these days. <<support RAID or at least mirroring>>: Does FreeBSD support them? OS X is FreeBSD with a nice GUI on top. I know for a fact that OS X supports raid, because Apple is shipping Xserve RAID in a few weeks (3U, 14 hard drives). And mirroring should be easily accomplished with a script or a few commands run from Terminal. <<If I knew I could easily get (READ: FREE) versions of the software I use>>: Dude, hotline.

Silvadel: <<i've got a load of gum with your name on it>>: No one wants to know about the loads you have for spacebabie.

Revel: <<I assume you not taking GE is because you are holding out for the best offer>>: Sorta. Its really because they couldn't offer me enough to skip out on going to grad school at the best time in my life to do so. I may actually take the same job with GE in a year or two, which would be less than I will be worth, but with opportunities for big cash later on.

DPH: <<I turned my computer on and . . . it crashed before I could login. So I had to reboot it. Go figure>>: It happens. On Windows, anyway. <<You're right about the actions of the Democrats and Republicans; I just disagree with the motivations>>: Motivation doesn't matter to me. I'm looking at results.

Lain: <<i got my bill yesterday, and its 110$, just for a one bedroom apartment, for one month>>: HAHAHA! I don't pay for utilities. <<conservatives?? y'all SUCK, ya hear me?>>: Oh please. Liberals are just as responsible for this crap.

Gside: <<Not there, but where he dies in the past>>: I actually don't remember that scene. <<Which I heretofore declare not much>>: Fair enough. <<You're just strange. But I can tell you're coming around>>: I think you sound a bit like Wally there. <<Everyone needs an excuse to be a pyromaniac occaisonally>>: Excuses are tools of the weak-minded.

Sleep.

Lain> <<There's more on the way>>: They should have had something more about Celes.
<<Legato is a Pansy>>: Come now, he's voiced by Seki Toshihiko, a good voice to have.

Imzadi> <<I remember him getting electrocuted with his own joy-buzzer>>: Not there, but where he dies in the past.
<<But right now its pretty much all I know of programming>>: Which I heretofore declare not much.
<<That sounds dirty>>: Good.
<<That sounds dirty too>>: Thank you.
<<you rarely get them all filled in a computer>>: Right, so I should modify the statement to get everything all filled or filling.
<<I'll be at two years this February>>: You're just strange. But I can tell you're coming around.

Silverbolt> <<what exactly we're celebrating I'm not sure>>: Everyone needs an excuse to be a pyromaniac occaisonally.

Silvadel> <<Ashamed of NJ>>: Come now, Jersey is fun.

Christine> <<Good Eats star Alton Brown>>: I consider Good Eats to be in hot contention for my favorite food show. He reminds me a bit of my father, what with the science and oddities.

you know what sucks?

hydro deregulation.

thats what sucks.

i got my bill yesterday, and its 110$, just for a one bedroom apartment, for one month. thats WITH lighting most of my stuff with candles and an oil lantern, refusing to use my oven, taking the shortest showers of all time, and not turning on my heat (i'm too scared).

deregulation started on may 1 this year, and since then, hydro prices have jumped 150% - and are still on the rise. im wondering what the heck myself and everyone else on low/fixed incomes are supposed to do this winter, when its a choice between food and heat.. :P

conservatives?? y'all SUCK, ya hear me?

Story #1: Before I went to bed last night, I turned my computer off. When I came from the working today as an election official, I turned my computer on and . . . it crashed before I could login. So I had to reboot it. Go figure.

**ELECTION DAY from DPH's POV**
Note: I did work in the elections today. At 7:30am, we (the election officials there) discovered the voting machines weren't working. [Apparantly the problem was county wide or so a phone call to get help indicated. Also, can somebody say "Florida"?] It took about 45 minutes for somebody to show up to fix the machines. About an hour or so later, one of the machines broke AGAIN, resulting in a pretty darn big line. After the machine was fixed and about the noon came around, the line was pretty much gone. That's when *I* got to vote. By 4pm, the line started picking up again and disappeared by 6:45pm or so. The polls closed at 7:30pm without having but a couple of people still voting.

There were still lots of stupid voters going to my precint to vote when they should go somewhere else to vote. Sheesh, it's not like everybody didn't get a mail about the new change in precints.
**END ELECTION DAY from DPH's POV**

I hope the Arkansas amendment to remove the tax on food and medicine passes. That's the big issue for me.

Onto replies:

Impfac - Never done that stunt and don't intend to.

Coyote - <Oh, my God, what an unbelievably revolutionary concept! Using *votes* to determine the winner of an election! What will they think of next?> *Almost faints*

Lain - <I didnt get to sleep till 4am.> I got up around 6am.

Winterwolf - <Dragon Power! I really need to go and start amassing a larger horde now.> Are you sure that you can count on *my* unconditional support of any action you want to take?

Silvadel - <(poly=many tics=blood sucking parasites politics=>many blood sucking parasites)> That's what is about. Common sense would say no political candidate would be stupid enough to vote for anything totally wrong. For example: voting for a tax increase sounds bad, right? It depends on where the money would have gone. Voting for a tax cut sounds good, right? It depends on what budgets were cut to allow for the tax cut. I'm for the cut in food/medicine sales tax because I know the poly-ticks can/will find a way to replace the money.

Imzadi - You're right about the actions of the Democrats and Republicans; I just disagree with the motivations.

Well, this is a fun week, everything is due in the next two weeks, always right before thanksgiving. One of those every year college traditions to try to kill the students with stuff since most instructors think their class is the only class that students are taking. Any teacher that assigns ten books to one class is just damn arrogant.

Josh- I assume you not taking GE is because you are holding out for the best offer. It's all about the Green... unless your an art student and then it's all about just getting by.

Impfac- Wrap around a tree? Well there is one solution to this, not the ideal but perfectly legal as long as it's done in an unpopulated area and nothing catches on fire. Go buy a $500 POS and before you report it to insurance go wreck it. They don't find out you had another car as long you don't try to get money out of it. Not smart but it is an idea.

Silverbolt *blinks* please tell me Revels are a food of some sort in England? Otherwise I have reason to beat you off with a stick.

Lain *Hugs*

GJ- Legato was a pansy, but he had a cool Dub voice.

Winterwolf & Dreamie- *waves* going to have to drag you two in more often, the newbies don't even know who you two are.

Firstorm- Might I recomend the .12 guage repair method, got a new tv out of it once ];)

Apologies for the double post ...

Apparently CNN has learned from the mistakes of 2000. Their exit-poll service has decided that they cannot make accurate projections this year. So they came up with an ingenious plan ...

... they're going to NOT use exit poll data ... and instead will go to honest-to-God VOTES to figure out the races.

**dripping sarcasm** Oh, my God, what an unbelievably revolutionary concept! Using *votes* to determine the winner of an election! What will they think of next?

(my apologies for that outburst, but I have *never* trusted exit poll data, at all.)

On a lighter note, since it's Election Day, it's also another special day at least on a personal note.

**hugs Ravyn and kisses her** happy anniversary. ;)

Fire Storm: Due to the recent recalls on the '01 and '02 Ford Focus (and since I know yours would be affected by both of them), I would recommend that y'all not wait for a recall notice to arrive in the mail and *immediately* take your car to the dealership for recall service.

This goes for everyone else with a Focus: don't wait for recall notices, take those cars in immediately. One recall affects just about all of them (a suspension bolt that could potentially lead to losing the lower ball joints), and one covers the most popular engine (the Zetec DOHC engines have a battery cable issue which could possibly create an underhood fire). By having service done under the recall, the repairs will be done free.

This public service announcement is sponsored by SAFETY. Y'know the thing most of my customers ignore when they buy the ultimate cheapass brakes for their car, then happen to think about as an afterthought after they wrap their respective cars around that 18 wheeler. ;)

Wheeee, my first real auto accident!!!! I spun out doing 80 (I let myself spin out on purpose though... maybe I’m not as mentally well as I thought) did a cool 360 across the road and slammed into a ditch (I was probably down to around 50 by that point). I thought Domi was in dire straights when I crawled out (I was so dazed I wasn’t sure if I’d rolled over at first, lol), but they just came and pulled her out, put the tires back on the rims (somehow) and I was on my way. Smashed front grill (which sucks, since I always promised her I’d never let that grill remained damaged), but that is one tough car. Aside from pulling my back a little everything is fine. All that matters is that my car isn’t hurt.

I want to grab a rental (with a VERY good safety rating) and drive it into a tree or flip it, but the insurance hike would be just too much :(

I worked the night shift Sunday and the Monday morning person was a no show. Good news is that I got 4 hours of OT.
Bad news was that I wasn't able to return the Blockbuster DVDs.

Inzadi: <A non-IBM HD>
Funny, wern't you just saying that they use the same drives?
<What, you don't have multiple backups for the extra-important data that is the TGS CR?!>
The burner is in my computer and my computer was in storage. When I got my computer out, it was so unstable that I couldn't burn ANYTHING!
Hey, how do YOU back things up? I want to use LESS than a 50 pack of CD-Rs to backup my hard drive!
<Just a hunch...but I'd try installing it>
Tried. It says that it won't install on Server.
<Why don't you just get another server program?>
I use Server on my desktop because Professional dosn't support software mirroring and RAID-5. (Yeah, yeah, I know I didn't use it anyway... but I SHOULD!)
<Or better yet, switch to a platform that doesn't need them>
But there is the whole software issue.
Hey, does any of the Mac OS's support NON-RISC processors, or pretty much exclusively the Motorola chips?
And does Mac OS support RAID or at least mirroring?

I swear... I am REALLY frelling tempted to just use NetBSD... If I knew I could easily get (READ: FREE) versions of the software I use...
(NOTE: I don't need Adobe Premiere to video edit, just a video editing program, for example.)

Hehe, seems like some people haven’t figured out my post from lain’s house pretending to be her talking about impfac was fake. LOL *shakes head* Some people :) But those people are probably already convinced I’m those things posted.

I’m amazed by the human body, not so much it’s intricacy but ability to punish stupidity. Drink=hangover, drugs=addiction, sleeping pills to force yourself to bed early=posting in CR at 2:15 AM, etc.

I’ve also had a vicious, overwhelming attack of the hornies, which is *great* since it means all those anti-depressants are out of my system! Yippy! However, I’ve ignored my doctor and started my own medication regiment, which he will be furious about.

I’ve also been attending Christian youth groups and begun to pray. I’m slowing becoming a Christian and am seeing the changes in my life (ask lain if you don’t buy that one). I think God would be a far better answer than Prozak to my problems. I know it sounds corny, but I think I am ‘finding’ God and Jesus Christ, and in them lies the answers to my solution. It’s changing me, for the better.

That doesn’t mean I wont say when people suck though :P

Gabe> I’d be an honor if YOU helped me through the Bible dear. I trust your wisdom deeply.

Lain> Awww, poor baby! *snuggles, then snurrfles and farts* Did all that happen the night I left? I’m sorry to hear that :( I hope you weren’t worrying about me-I made it home fine by 6 AM.

Cursed structural analysis assignments. They take forever. Usually I have to go back and forth to multiple office hours, but this time I was able to get it right with only one such session. Yuck.

On the plus side, that means no more homework (other than my design milestone) for the rest of the week! I guess now I have no excuse to avoid hitting the library and doing some research for my paper.

GE was rated Forbes top company for the 5th year in a row. Definitely the place to work...too bad they can't have me just yet.

Microsoft got off nearly scot-free in their anti-trust trial, so look forward to them dominating a desktop environment near you, making the decision for you about which programs you can use and which music you can play...and refusing to accept responsibility for anything breaking.

Mooncat: <<That is easy. :: blinks :: is that all there is to it?>>: Even easier on a Mac 8-) <<Played with the baby. It's so cute>>: Its been a while since I've been around one...but don't they have genders?

Silverbolt: <<What?>>: The whole thing with screwing up Robin...messed up stuff. Kinda freaky, too. <<do you have a permit>>: I don't need a permit to make stupid jokes. <<whoops!>>: Now I know, and I shall forever hold it over him! BUWAHAHA.

Todd: <<was *Gunn* being the one to send her old professor into Pylea>>: Did you notice that he broke the guys neck first? <<I hadn't even thought that there was a schemer behind it>>: I didn't think so either. It was kind of weird. <<were afraid that Cordelia would give Angel another moment of perfect happiness as Buffy did and turn him back into Angelus?>>: No, I think Angel has more self control than that. When he slept with buffy, he didn't KNOW that it would have that effect on him. I think he'd be smarter now.

Christine: <<Oktoberfest>>: Beer?

Spacebabie: <<A fat wad of green Jacksons>>: Its all about the wad of washingtons that's 20 times thicker. <<Have some tiramisu>>: Pass. <<When one isn’t studying fluids?>>: Exactly. <<Somebody had a blond moment?>>: I have some blond... <<Edited or non edited?>>: No idea. It was on Cartoon Network. <<You ragging on Xanatos’s choice of chin fuzz>>: Pretty much, yeah.

Green Baron: <<30 rounds of ammo>>: Those won't last very long.

Fire Storm: Good luck with the drive. I'd say its time for a new HD. A non-IBM HD 8-) What, you don't have multiple backups for the extra-important data that is the TGS CR?! <<Anyone know how to make programs thinking I am using Win2000 PRO>>: Just a hunch...but I'd try installing it. <<Anti-Virus won't install>>: Why don't you just get another server program? Or better yet, switch to a platform that doesn't need them.

Winterwolf: <<Over 200 vehicles crash in one area of California>>: HAHAHAHA. We suck. <<should California drivers be given the title?>>: New York is worse.

Leo: <<Theatrical release (Joker gets electrocuted)or Directors Cut>>: I remember him getting electrocuted with his own joy-buzzer.

Gside: <<matlab hasn't made it to true programming language status yet>>: That's because its really just a scripting language, even if it does have OOP-ability t(h?)acked on. But right now its pretty much all I know of programming. <<If the wire fits, plug it in>>: That sounds dirty. <<try to fill all slots>>: That sounds dirty too. Besides, you rarely get them all filled in a computer unless you're spending obscene amounts of cash. <<No one can resist me for long>>: I'll be at two years this February.

Lain: <<cut my lip ON THE ...SPOON>>: Does it hurt being a spaz?

Sleepy time.

I sent it to Data Recovery Labs in Toronto since they were approved by Western Digital and it wouldn't void the warranty.

Since that time many more labs have joined the recovery business.

Hey, ever hear a hard drive make an alarm sound?

Well, I did. It was LM's primary hard drive. You know, the one with, oh, EVERYTHING on it, including the TGS stites.

And my computer took a dump too. I think I have bad power here.

SO... I am getting my computer back on-line, and LM's system...

Anyone know of a good data-recovery service, preferably with a clean room? The spindle motor stopped on her drive and I am NOT gonna try to replace it! (Tried once, didn't work)

The Green Baron -- As for Jeffers, I didnt care that he changed parties -- I cared that he did it in the middle of his term with the express purposes of changing the power structure of the Senate for personal gain.

In essence I think sure you can change parties, BUT you should have to either do it at election time, OR you would have to stand a special election to retain your position. The reason is, you were elected by people from your original party -- they voted for a republican in this case -- they did not vote for a democrat. You also didnt have to go through a primary against the other democratic candidates...

As for NJ, the *REALLY* sick thing that could happen is the following scenario: Lautenburg wins, then resigns because he is too old... Every successful negative campaign will end up with a switch to a different candidate while the "former victor" just comes out with a spent warchest.

Spacebabie - :: birthday hugz! ::

Ooo! Calamari! Tiramisu! :: envy drool ::

Silverbolt - Nope, Jon doesn't have the mustachio. That had to be the single most cliched villain look, and I agree it look awful on him. I'm going for young, clean cut, and intense. I'm going to be drawing him a lot I think.

Green Baron / Lain - I'm under the impression it wasn't Lain's post after all? She didn't write and post it? I'm glad. I'm not comfortable with falsehoods, even in jest.

Sun is out today! Yay! Usually I am not so keen on the bright ball in the sky, but it's been grey for so effing long, and cold and wet... I can take any of those factors if they aren't clumped together. Grey and warm is good (as long as it isn't humid) Bright and cold is good. Wet when it's not cold is good too. But cold wet grey is awful.

ack.... so much housework to do.....

Greetings from the Balkan Front

I know I've been awol for a bit, but my online time has been limited. On to answer a few questions.

Hyperion> I like praying in a dead language, because I like the Latin language. It is quite beautiful and classical, plus my grandfather was a scholar in both Greek and Latin.

I do not consider a prayer more meaningful, because of the language used. I believe the meaning depends on how much heart you put into it.

As for the bowtie, I was thinking 20s, not 50s, plus these are thinner than the butterflies you're thinking of. As for the M9 with a three piece suit, I'll have to talk to one of my higher NCOs about letting borrow their M9 when I'm in suit for a picture or two. I only get to carry an M16 with me everywhere, as well as 30 rounds of ammo :)

Mooncat> Don't take Lain's stuff too personally, her sense of humor is kinda odd, like mine :)

Lain> Well, I vow not to be half naked when I visit you. I will have my robe on :)

Silvadel> The Senator you're thinking of is Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, son of the late Sen. John Chafee, also from Rhode Island.

Lincoln is a standard Liberal Yankee Republican, like Jim Jeffords, Jacob Javitz, Sylvio Conte, Edward Brooke (he was there long long ago), Bill Cohen, Ben Gillman, Amo Houghton, Rudy Guiliani, Hamilton Fish, etc.

Jeffords became an Independent to give Dems a 50-49 lead over Republicans, now 49-49 since Paul Wellstone died. His defection does not really bother me. His votes are good by Yankee Democrat standars, but by Republican standards very liberal, and that's what you can expect from VT. What is sneaky and to me underhanded was that he became an Independent basically siding with the Democrats and got a Committe Chairmanship from Tom Daschle.

There are only rumors about Lincoln Chafee defecting. There have also been rumors about Zell Miller of Georgia becoming a Republican, like Shelby and Campbell did. Both Miller and Chafee have denied that they would make such a switch.

I do admit it is more honorable to do what Phil Gramm did. He waited till the regular election cycle to switch from Democrat to Republican.

Overall, the liberal Northeastern Republican and the Conservative Southern Democrat still exist in small numbers and provide soem variety to the politcial mix.

Now, for a more interesting event, Walter Mondale will run for Sen. Wellstone's seat. I wonder if the Democratic party has employed voodoo priests to ressurect political zombies like Lautenberg and Mondale from the dead.

In my perosnal opinion, the Democrats should have run Skip Humphrey in Minnesota. In any event Mondale wasn't as liberal as Wellstone, though being more conservative than Paul Wellstone is an easy task :)

Here's an odd conspiracy riddled thought. If Torricelli didn't resign from the race, would he also die in a plane crash? Maybe the Dems are killing losing candidates so they can capitalize on the loss and get some political zombie icon to run in their place.

In Hawaii, Patty Mink died in September, but will probably be re-elected. Maybe the Republicans should ahve Abe Lincoln run for Office again, since dead people are getting elected, only fair since they've been voting forever :)

Jaden and Kathy> I am staying safe and not too cold. This place is great.

BTW, click on my name to see a livejournal entry about my experience so far.

Now, I am being kicked out the office. Bye bye

Okay folks who plan on coming to Orlando soon. Do NOT eat anywhere on International drive. After waiting for over an hour to get a table…Thanks to the MIT group…we said screw it. Instead we had dinner at Carabas. Oooh I had a cappuccino martini. Loved how the waitress served it. She brought in a glass with a dab of whip cream in it before she shook the Martini mixture and poured it in. Carabas has the best calamari. Some of it were the bottoms of little squids with a bunch of little tentacles, yummy naughty thoughts there. Had a shrimp and pasta dish and for dessert. TIRAMISU! The waitress brought both mine and my brothers Tiramius but mine had a candle in it. She and other Carabas employees sand Happy Birthday in Italian.

From my parents…A fat wad of green Jacksons

From the boy. A new Sketch book and a little book of positive quotes.

* ANGEL SPOILERS *

Another episode that I liked (although I enjoy them in general). Fred's tough side (or dark side) is getting even further developed after her confrontation with Connor at the beginning of the series. The bit that definitely surprised me, however, was *Gunn* being the one to send her old professor into Pylea. (The revelation that he'd been behind Fred's original time in Pylea certainly startled me; I hadn't even thought that there was a schemer behind it).

And Cordelia decides to move back with Angel at least for a while, and find out more about their past together. (One theory that I came across, and thought I'd run past everyone else here: could it be possible that the real reason why the Powers That Be ascended Cordelia at the end of the last season is that they were picking up on her and Angel's feelings for each other, and were afraid that Cordelia would give Angel another moment of perfect happiness as Buffy did and turn him back into Angelus?).

Operation DVD burner is achieved *^_^* Yay!!!! It went in sweet and simple. Worked immediately. No problems with the HP burner. Don't know why the Sony didn't work. Burned a test DVD, played it on my regular attached to the tv dvd plaer. worked. Yay!!!!!!!!!

Actually paid attention when my ex took the case off of Bastet and popped the drive in. Darn. That is easy. :: blinks :: is that all there is to it? okay! I can do that next time I put in an internal drive =) Yay! Learned a new thing =)

My ex-boyfriend's wife made fish and chicken for supper... was yummy *^_^* her mashed potatoes are very thin, but the Vietnamese sauce was excellent and even the potatoes tasted good with it.

Played with the baby. It's so cute!

All work and no play makes Josh...something something...

But I did manage to finish the first of the 5 Vermont Recipes, a programming intro for Cocoa development. Someday, I may be a programmer, who knows?

***TGS COMMENTS***

Bravo on a great episode! Loose ends were tied up (as should happen in a season finale), and character motivations and behaviors were really fleshed out. Alex is really coming into his own, developing into a perfect composition of his parents (his father's nonchalance comes through very well).

The whole demona-gwen-harthoth thing was well explained and more importantly: it was reasonable. The unseelie thread seems wrought with rampant out-of-character-ness, but with four seasons of development behind these characters, that doesn't happen here.

I'm curious to see if the Apep story *ever* ends, or if it is a permanent plot thread that TD can tap for as long as its being written.

***END TGS COMMENTS***

Lila: <<I'd hope that includes sushi>>: Not really, but I do eat that too. <<The only true elite addiction>>: Um...CHOCOLATE!

Mooncat: <<The only true elite addiction>>: Later 8-) <<Sushi is The Food of the Gods>>: The gods must be short. <<Unagi>>: Woot! Unagi rules. <<never invite strange guys you meet on the internet to your home>>: And we are truly strange ;-) Of course, I've broken that rule 5 times now with gargoyle CR members. <<HP dvd burner battle>>: Be sure to report on how that turns out. <<Hopefully, since my computer is an HP, it will work better than the sony burner did>>: Its not the hardware that's the problem. Its Windows.

Lain: Stop flamebaiting. <<being in the heart of the socialist beast>>: Well, it is Canada. <<he IS mercilessly making fun of my "eh">>: Well, it is Canada ;-) <<dont believe everything you read>>: Especially if it doesn't start with a capital letter.

Warpmind: <<but I'll settle for a BFG>>: I'm happy with my BFD, thankyouverymuch ;-) <<is there any fathomable reason why the package should include a printer from a competing brand?>>: Its a PC. As such, its already a chaotic amalgamation of parts. Pure coincidence that many of your products come from HP. <<do you realize the potential of that concept, if you set it up as a Pay-Per-View at G'03?>>: NOOO COMMENT.

Christine: <<Just checking in from Leavenworth>>: You're in prison?

DPH: <<You don't trust the likes of Rev Jesse Jackson with money?>>: Um...no. <<Extremely important>>: It was sarcasm. <<Extremely important>>: I'm sure I can divine something more accurate. <<the true nature of the democratic party: it's all about the acquisition of power>>: No, its about the acquisition of money. Rich people's money. The republican party is about keeping the money they've already earned/stolen/inherited.

Hyperion: <<a development that the writers put in to allow more story off the station and of the "shoot-the-starship" plot class>>: Those are important. Space battle sequences, while the most expensive, are the most fun episodes, and get the highest ratings. Explosions are cool. << the high point of the series was the Klingon war/battle fought at DS9>>: Indeed that was a gorgeous episode. I also liked the joint Cardassian/Romulan expedition that starred Garak. <<which is the bastard?>>: So we may hang him! Yar! <<I think I laughed up a lung>>: I bet that hurt. <<I see you're right about me being the second Phoenix>>: I think many of us had Pheonix-ness in us. I tried changing some answers just a little and always came up with a Phoenix. <<at least I'm not some oversexed demon like the rest of you>>: Oh, if only... <<my status as the most attractive and, dare I say, humble, member of the fandom>>: Sorry, but Dreamie clearly wins that award by not only being a cute female but also having a classic artist inferiority complex ("I suck. everyone else is better/more talented/etc. than I am." <<Your oversight is pardoned and I assume you will rectify your error shortly>>: Get in line. <<I am not a jackass, I just play one on TV>>: Are you in the movie?

Gside: <<If you comment your java code the way they say, there is a program that generates nice html documentation>>: Very cool. MATLAB is much easier. help functionname brings up the entire opening comment section for a snippet of code. <<you will too, once you stop denying that you want me>>: Sadly, that day is not today.

Sleeeeep.

Hmm...is it just me, or is the room somewhat dead. <shrug> could just be me. Nevermind.

Jaden><DS9>Hmm...I think the Dominion was just an offshoot of the introduction of the Defiant, a development that the writers put in to allow more story off the station and of the "shoot-the-starship" plot class. Admittedly I think it would have been a better series if they had stuck with the political/social aspects of the station, but then again there's only so many plots you can have that revolve around "Quark does some stupid/dangerous money-making scheme" or "Bajoran religious crisis" or "Antagonist smuggles something dangerous on board" before the lowest common denominator starts to complain.
I personally think the high point of the series was the Klingon war/battle fought at DS9. I still have that episode on tape, I think. Somewhere.
<micromanagement> Yar! I'll fight with ye! (I don’t know if that required a pirate accent, but it seemed to fit.)

lain> there's something to be said for a password on your PC. Obviously it doesn’t seem to bother you that much so I'll just wader off in this direction then.
Oh yes, and remember, when forcing someone to make a statement, make sure you keep the gun hidden. FYI

silvadel> <turncoat> What! Whom? With any luck *one* person won’t change percentages much (heh heh heh) but which is the bastard?
BTW is Jeffords up for reelection?

Anonymous> Arrrrrrrrr

Leo><swear like Q-bert>Holy Heisenberg man! I think I laughed up a lung. Well done, sir!

<Imzadi>I see you're right about me being the second Phoenix. Oh well, at least I'm not some oversexed demon like the rest of you --ccubi.

Spacebabie> I con only assume I'm not on your list due to the fact that you missed the earlier discussion about my status as the most attractive and, dare I say, humble, member of the fandom. Your oversight is pardoned and I assume you will rectify your error shortly. Thank you for your attention. You may go back to business now.

Ahh, it's time to catch up, after the CR wipe and before this week's story gets released.

Happy birthday, Spacebabie.

One of my kittens decided to climb up my screen door of my house. 3/4 of the way up before I stopped it.

Imzadi - <It really sucks having to be a member of a party that includes religious fanatics, but that's the only way to keep my money from being spent on crack whores.> What? You don't trust the likes of Rev Jesse Jackson with money? <It ended almost 60 years ago...how important can it be?> Extremely important. Like next semester, I'm planning on taking "World History I", which will be the first class I've took in history since I took American History. So much has changed since then. <At least you can say that's an exact time frame> that's the most straight answer you'll get to me about that timeframe for a while.

Silvadel - <Personally I think that if you change party affiliation, you should have to undergo a special election. What Jeffers did before and what I cant remember the
name but the guy being courted might do is criminal.> I agree, but then again I believe it shows the true nature of the democratic party: it's all about the acquisition of power. <We had not ONE Trick or Treater this year> :p Never had a trick-or-treater at my house and never will.

Mooncat - <Here it is just COLD.> No, it's very cold. I can't start a fire to heat my house yet because I haven't had the chimney cleaned out. And it's been below 60 F.

Winterwolf - It's good to see another dragon in the CR.

Silverbolt - < And here’s the easiest way to make Anne Robinson laugh.> Huh?

Yea, I've caught up.
