Warpmind> <<Christian fanatics seem to never have noticed this game, though>>: Was it even releasted in the states, or any primarially Christian nation?
<<More's the pity>>: Every religion should support it.
<<I shudder to think what Rincewind would do if exposed to Granny Weatherwax>>: Run away, of course.
<<I got the note at 1530, when the mail arrived. The post office closed at 1500>>: If I may laugh at you: Ha ha. Oh, don't throw away the packing before you read it, I added sending pornographic materials by post to piracy for you. And why does it take longet for mail to get from Jersey to Canada than Jersey to Norway?

Gunjack> <<the mighty power of my ROTARY SQUID LAUNCHER!>>: Robotic squid. If so, Lena will be mad at you for being mean to Ikariya. Though I must get me one of those.

Greg> <<look at a series by Watanabe>>: Shinichi? Do you know if he's done anything besides Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi, and Tenchi Muyo GXP (which should at least have Nabeshin in the backgrounds)?

Edi> <<If you were to write a crossover story about Gargoyles, what would you cross them with?>>: Ranma Nibunnoichi. Already about a quarter done, haven't worked on it in a month or more, and the Manhattan clan won't be showing up.

Dezi> <<Is there a record book or an award tied to such a feat?>>: Not quite, but if anyone breaks the current record holders, the nature of the required posts will get them banned.

Lain> <<squids are the foundation of our entire relationship>>: Kinky.

And for the mp3, something probably not your style, but that's old news anyway. The Devil Went Down to Georgia by the Charlie Daniels Band.

Gunjack - <*Spots incoming pie fire from DPH*> You did better than Lain. She had no idea who Mr Carter was. *discards Mr Carter, puts apple shooter back in hand, and starts firing at the squid and ink* Why squid? I'll admit apples are probably the among last fruit I would expect anyone to shoot. <"Are they covered in chocolate!?"> Yuck. I dislike the taste of chocolate, but there are a select few candy bars I can enjoy. As long as you don't shooting streams of milk chocolate, I'm alright.

Edi - < But my point is this: Disney should put the Gargs back on air with new episodes and new animators.> Questions #1&2: Where and when (what time slot) would you start airing new Garg episodes?

Lain - good point about Canada.

<BTW did we ever learn what was so special about the piece of the Aten that Brooklyn had?>

It had been charged with the energies of the time stream thanks to the constant time dancing that it could free Apep and it was needed for Brooklyn to fulfill the events(Harthoth's enslavement) that would eventually lead to Apep's freedom in season 4.

Question

IP: 216.170.210.200

Is there a record book or an award tied to such a feat?
Also isn't there a reccomendation about using so many pictures?

BTW did we ever learn what was so special about the piece of the Aten that Brooklyn had? I remember something about it but don't remember the resolution and am too lazy to look it up. If not, this could go under the tie-ups thing that Greg was talking about for the end of Timedancer. (This was all brought about by paying way too much attention to the Discovery Channel documentary on Ancient Egypt.)

Greg> Well... Toriyama's no hack, ad I was using him as an EXAMPLE, so that means it doesn't have to be HIM-it can be someone else. Of course, you can say what you want. Also, besides Toriyama, there's the animator of G Gundam, the one from Digimon, and the one from Rurouni Kenshin. It can be anyone, it just has to be good.

Gunjack> Actually, what you say makes some sense. But also, that's the newest movement in terms of animation, and it would be great if the Gargs were animated that way. And, IF GREG IS THERE, THE HEROES DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE GUNSHOTS AND ALWAYS WIN, BECAUSE GREG WILL TELL THEM EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. IT WON'T HAVE TO SHOW BROOKLYN RUN THROUGH BULLETS JUST TO SAVE SATA. (That was for an example.)

And, as for publicity, it should be okay. DISNEY should hear the fans, and put them back on air with all new saga, like TimeDancer and Pendragon, which are very cool. Then they'd have TV commercials, magazines, newspapers and more promote the NEW Gargs.

Well, that's it for my oral presentation... (LOL)

CYA, and any comments are greatly appreciated.

Greg/Question - Nice to see that we're maintaining civility towards the new people. 8 P

*pastes them both with a burst of squids*

Edi - I wouldn't mind seeing new eps of Gargoyles... But after a few years of anime, I dunno if I could go back to a clean disnefied show where all the bullets miss and the heros always win. That's why I don't mourn too bad for Gargs; imagine if the show had kept going as the Goliath Chronicles forever. Sorta bastardizing a masterpiece, y'know? These days (lilo and Stitch excepted), it seems to be all Disney's good at any more.
Now, if you had Greg and his art people working with Toriyama's clout... THAT would be sommat to see.

Hey, folks! Just popping in to say hi, because it's been a while, and let you know the latest. The surgery's scheduled for May 5th. They're telling me it should only be one night in the hospital and a week or so off from work. Which is a tremendous improvement on what I went through 13 years ago.

I'm just glad that I get to see X-2 on opening weekend! ;) And I hope to have a new fanfic done and posted this coming week.

Also -- we are trying to get the May issue of Sabledrake taken care of a little early. So, if anyone was planning to send something, please do so straightaway. Thankee-sai!

Good one, Lain. I liked that article. I emailed the link to a friend of mine and he said Darn, I wanted to bomb Toranto! (yes I know he spelled it wrong and he WAS joking.) He then concluded that Toronto was hiding biological weapons in the form of SARS, and that this needed to be rectafyed (sp) militarily. He then made an evil internet laugh (MUwahahaha) and logged off. All in sarcasm of course. But, hey. *shrugs*. My only hope is that we DON'T re-elect our moron-in-chief and get rid of his little dog, Rummy, too. *Dodges flying pies and whatevers that will most likely be thrown*. *sits back and waits for long lecture from Kaioto- not that I'm asking for it or anything. :) *

Oracle: This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while actually (I used to comment on it in my reviews before I joined the staff). If you're starting from the beginning of TGS then you should be able to enter only needing some knowledge of the first two seasons of the 'Gargoyles' animated TV series. I guess if you’re reading this continuation then you’ve probably seen a fair number of the episodes and know what’s going on (although since the series ended a while ago, we probably shouldn’t get too blasé about that either).

But I can understand that the episode archive, which now has over two hundred old stories in it, is very daunting if you just want to come along and follow a story about the ‘Gargoyles’ characters from week to week. Since TGS, like the original series, evolves as it goes on, there’s always the risk that it’s inaccessible not just to new readers but to wayward readers, or even readers that only have an interest in certain series… or even loyal readers who just can’t remember plot points from five years ago!

I hope the next season to be released ('Pendragon' season 4) will be somewhat accessible to newcomers, especially since it has quite a small main cast and the episodes are a bit more self-explanatory than some of the other series. And 'Bad Guys', which will be released after that, is an entirely new series. The “Previously” sections should give a brief idea of what’s going on, although potentially they could confuse as much as clarify if you really don’t understand what’s going on.

I’m not sure what the solution would be, especially since it's straining enough the staff getting the new episodes out as it is. Maybe each episode could have a short introduction to the principle characters that the reader ought to know about in the episode. Maybe we should start doing ‘clip show’ episodes. :)

Is this a problem for anyone else? Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make TGS easier to follow?

Gside: I said I'd write the pamphlet for JWs. They don't have that subcult you mentioned. More's the pity. ;) And the luggage wasn't in Carpe Jugulum, of course - Rincewind wasn't there. In fact, I shudder to think what Rincewind would do if exposed to Granny Weatherwax... ÕÕ Oh, and I'm angry, annoyed and rather peeved. The package arrived yesterday. I got a note from the post office that it's waiting for me there. I got the note at 1530, when the mail arrived. The post office closed at 1500. One might THINK the post office could have the courtesy of at least TRYING to get all the mail out before closing time, so that people could actually have a chance to pick up packages the day they arrive... :(

Well, I guess that's all I'm really up for right now... Later, gang.

TGS gets to use "gargoyles" for a fan series because we arent making any money from it. if you put stuff on TV, you have to get advertising to support it.. etc etc and people make money - even making enough to pay for production costs and no profit isnt allowed.

Lain> What I meant was that Toriyama (just for an example) should just animate the Gargs for Disney, not that he should own them!! Besides, it isn't just him-it can be any other animator (take Hack//Sign's animator, for example. He'd do great!) and then Disney would broadcast them on TV. We had a hellish thunderstorm last night. And a fire down the street somewhere. Every unit in our local volunteer fire department turned out I think, starting with a couple of guys in a modified pickup truck and working the way steadily up to a regulation pumper truck. I watched all this in pouring rain because my cute as all get out three week old ducks decided that they wanted to spend the night out on the creek instead of in the nice dry barn and wouldn't come in. The water tends to rise rather quickly in the creek when it rains and I was sure they were going to either get over saturated and drown ( they don't have feathers yet) or get washed down to the next farm. Luckily, neither happened. Truly it was a night only a duck *could* love.

Oracle > Could you be more specific? If you read the stories in order by season you will find that all the characters are introduced and usually, a fair amount is revealed about them over time. Of course, if you have a specific question about a specific character you should feel free and ask about that. The current staff of TGS is busy trying to get a new season produced and they really can't go back and do a bible for the umpteen characters introduced over all the different series.

edi>> <<Well, I just wanted to say one thing that may bring back the Gargoyles>> points for effort.. <<How about having some very good Japanese animator like Akira Toriyama (animator of Dragon Ball)>> eeeew! you call that GOOD animation??? *takes a shower* ;) ... ok ok so most of it probably IS better quality that the majority of gargs episodes but if you want some kickass japanese animation, check out the studios that do "witch hunter robin", "hellsing" or ".hack//sign" (which is the same one, i think, that did "noir". now THATs good animation. storylines might need help in some cases but.. animation is awesome. <<write and animate a story with collaboration from Greg Weisman?>> yeah, that would be great but unfortunately, greg doesnt actually *own* gargs. disney does. so.. youd have to get disney to SELL gargs which, even though they arent really using it right now, im sure it would cost a few million arms and legs if you wanted to buy the rights to it. lots of people have thought about doing that.. but nobodys rich enough. <<Josh> What do you mean, never? Some minor bug fixes in my project and a few touches to the project report, but now that's done too. I still have to put together a presentation, though. Life is getting very good right about now.

I was supposed to get my offer from Apple today, but surprise surprise, it didn't show up.

Leo: <<Harry Potter>>: Yay!

Jan: <<the proper and legal way around this issue was for the library to just not carry the Harry Potter series>>: I totally agree. While I may not agree with a lawsuit, there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned boycott. In general, though, I'm in favor of anything that gets kids excited about reading.

Gside: <<I wouldn't count on that, especially since programming is not the main focus of the CivE domain>>: No, I meant that third year CivE students would know what they're doing when they use this program. They would understand the analyses being performed and why.
<<in your relentless pursuit to bring more converts>>: I've become a lot less relentless after seeing what a real mac zealot is like and not liking them at all.
<<I was a bad boy and forgot to put in pent>>: You should be punished for such a blantant geek infraction.
<<Don't care and move on>>: Good plan.

Attila: <<french bashing>>: I would be bored without you.

Patrick: <<Put down the PS2 controller>>: have you SEEN FFX!?
<<God is burning the bellies of the Macintosh users>>: All I got was a cold. I guess they just don't have the same hold over me.

LA: <<How does one know if their AIM acct has been hacked into?>>: Either people you know are very angry at you or people you don't know are IMing you.
<<how do i clear my name if it's been slandered under that acct?>>: I recommend either starting a new account or blocking EVERYONE who isn't on your buddy list. And change you password!

Lain: <<i have SARS>>: Random.

Bud-Clare: <<if I don't take it... the other choices are less than appealing>>: I am very familiar with this problem.
<<Er?>>: If it can only handle cubes with four or five rotations, doesn't that limit the effectiveness of the AI?
<<you gripe about other people's code?>>: Good point. Unfortunately, this is a bug in MATLAB's code, and they're idiots for having the problem.

Mecord: << I remember being picked on unmercifully in 3rd grade simply for carrying a book with me everywhere>>: Have you heard of a backpack?

Kathy: <<Just pick one already so that I can get on with my day>>: Welcome to Berkeley?
<<Children are taught way too early that everyone is a peer>>: I often list this as my biggest flaw on job applications 8-)

Leo: <<bet that makes everyone in here feel old as dirt>>: Nope, I still feel 21.

Edi: <<What do you mean, never?>>: Which letter wasn't understood?
<<Were they suspended?>>: Nope. Driven you into a nice little contradiction, haven't I? BUWAHAHA!

Dezi: Thanks!

Good night.

Dei> <<What do you mean, never? Was TimeDancer suspended?>>: Don't believe Imzadi, but don't expect anything soon.
<<How about having some very good Japanese animator like Akira Toriyama>>: Most things don't transition styles well. Staying with existing character designs would be better. Besides, Toriyama has much too distinctive a style.

Well, I just wanted to say one thing that may bring back the Gargoyles: How about having some very good Japanese animator like Akira Toriyama (animator of Dragon Ball) write and animate a story with collaboration from Greg Weisman? That way, it would have better animation quality, and also, they would be a blast in the world! At least, that's I think, but you don't have to accept the idea if you don't want to. This is a semi-official announcement regarding TGS. Some time ago, we decided to read the opening episode of TGS: Pendragon's fourth season at the Gathering this year; the season opener has fortunately been written (by me) and already put through Edits, so it should be ready by the Gathering 2003. After yesterday's events, I've decided to dedicate the season opener to the late Gary Sterling. (It'll be particularly appropriate since one of the episodes that he worked on, according to the obituary that Greg Weisman wrote for him, was "M.I.A.", and Griff, Leo, and Una will all be appearing in the season opener).

Call it my tribute to a man who contributed so much to "Gargoyles".

Gah, it's one of those days that can't make up its mind. Sunny? Cloudy? Storming? Just pick one already so that I can get on with my day.

Rude kids? Sorry, but it comes down to basic pack mentality. As much as we'd like to believe we're an evolved species, the sad fact is that children and nearly all members of society for that matter, respond best to a structured pack order with defined boundries and clear authority figures. The point where those things became abdicated in favor of "valuing everybodies opinion" etc. etc. is the point when things began to break down.

Children are taught way too early that everyone is a peer. When that includes adults then there is no self censoring for fear of reprisal and chaos ensues.

Society has only itself to blame.

Gee, cheery subject.

So who else has registered for the Gathering? Airfare is surprisingly reasonable this week. And with the guests and programming scheduled it's shaping up into a great weekend.

Question > RE: Iraqi information minister - That was a joke, son.

Crud, it's all cloudy again, and I've got a brooder to build and a bee hive to paint. Better get moving.

Ciao

Oh, in case you didn't hear: GARGOYLES writer/story editor Gary Sperling died yesterday of lung cancer. Greg posted more about his writing credits and accomplishments at the regular S8 Gargoyles board.

Also > The Gargoyles DVD has been postponed to 2004 to coinside with the series 10th Anniversery.

Okay, my wife found this really cool link. I soooooo want one of these. This guy should improve on his technique and go into business.

Gunjack>> No hoax, not as far as I can tell anyway, I'd hate to think Discover Magazine isn't reliable (as relaible as any media can be anyway.

Greg>> somehow I'm not surprised

Harry Potter books>> Personally I don't see what the fuss is about. People should just be glad these kids acctually want to read something. I remember being picked on unmercifully in 3rd grade simply for carrying a book with me everywhere (Dragons of Autumn Twilight though it didn't matter what kind of book it was to the other kids).

rude students>> When kids are rude they're evil and its the fault of the parents. I've never bought into that theory. the only thing that article really proved was that there was a problem and nobody knows how to fix it. Respect has to be earned and sometimes (not all the time) the kids act the way they do because they don't respect school or it's teachers. Personally I believe this is largly due to the fact that the "decision makers" don't respect the students. They never ask the kids what they think or what problems they see. What frustrates me the most is that I can't figure out a good solution either. Sure open communication and respect will help, but it won't fix a broken system, just patch it up a bit.

Rev. Attila>> <If GB reads a WatchTower> The few WatchTower's I've seen were very funny, though they weren't intended that way. I know people think my church has strange ideas, but JWs take the cake on that one.

that's all for now, later.

Because I really want to take that class (and no one else teaches it), and if I don't take it... the other choices are less than appealing. Harry Potter books - Newsflash, kiddies... there's bigger and better libraries out there than the one in your school. Put down the PS2 controller and go visit one. You'll be amazed.

Saddam's wild younger days - I wonder if Osama knows. Somehow I doubt the fundamentalists who rallied behind him would approve.

And speaking of Iraqis who now find themselves in employment limbo... I heard a rumor that the Iraqi Information Minister, Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, has an open offer now from Microsoft. Seems they're looking for a new PR guy. "There are no bugs in Windows. Do not be deceived by the lies of the infidels. These system faults you speak of do not exist. I swear by Allah this is true. God is burning the bellies of the Macintosh users. Right now they are committing suicide on the gates of CompUSA. All praise to Bill Gates!"

Jannie> I mena students need to show respect. Speaking of getting no respect:

Dangerfield Out of ICU, Able to Stand-Up
(2003-04-19) -- Comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who underwent brain surgery this week, was moved from the Intensive Care Unit yesterday because, according to the 81-year-old comic, "the staff just didn't care about me that much."

"Yeah, I got some doctor," he said. "I tell you, my brain surgeon said he'd take 50 percent off my bill, because there wasn't that much to work on. Some doctor."

Mr. Dangerfield said being in the ICU was tough competition because "everybody there dreams of doing stand-up."

The two greatest challenges during his hospital stay were getting some sleep, and getting a nurse to help him go to the bathroom.

"There's no sleeping in the ICU," he said. "Are you kidding me? These bells are ringing constantly. I had no idea why. So I push the red button next to the bed, and the Avon lady shows up. I tell you, I get no respect...I bought two lipsticks and some gel. She demanded a co-payment up front. Then she only gave me the one lipstick. She said she didn't think I'd last long enough to use two. She coulda got a job as an ICU nurse. No respect at all."

Going to the bathroom was the worst part, he added.

"My nurse...only I would get such a nurse. I tell her I have to use the bathroom. She says, 'Is it number one, or number two?' I said, 'If you wait a minute, I'll show you?'

Asked if he could resume his career following brain surgery, Mr. Dangerfield said, "I got half a mind to do it."

And for your daily does of French bashing:

State Department Lists Ways to Punish France
(2003-04-23) -- A day after Colin Powell indicated that France would face consequences for its opposition to the war in Iraq, the State Department has begun to develop a list of ways the U.S. might punish France.

An unnamed source in the Department called it a "working document" which includes the following potential actions:

-- Create government program to send more American tourists to France.
-- Increase funding to U.S. domestic snail industry.
-- In public forums, U.S. government officials will follow the mention of French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin with the phrase "who is a man".
-- Each day, George Bush calls Jacques Chirac at midnight Paris time and says, "Do you have Prince Matchabelli in a bottle?."
-- Two words: Cheez Whiz.

To all the radical independent Christian groups who have all sorts of comments about Harry Potter:

If GB reads Harry Potter, good for him. If GB reads a WatchTower, I will personally kill him, and it would be for his own good :)

Now, the Vatican gave Harry Potter a gold star, so to quote from Godfather III: The Pope gave him an award. You think you're better than the Pope?

Jannie> I agree that this is a problem. Students need some respect. A few old-school nuns would teach these kids some respect and manners.

Leo> I found the article concerning rude students to be of more value than if a school is going to carry the Harry Potter series in their library.
I'm not necessarily in favor of book banning, but the proper and legal way around this issue was for the library to just not carry the Harry Potter series. The school district has the right to pick and choose which books will be placed in the school library. Not ALL series are carried by school libraries, so they should have just done this quietly and not have them available since this is their feelings against the series.
Some people make mountain out of molehills when there is a much quieter and discreet way of getting your own way ;)

I had a good day today. First, I got my AI midterm back. 90. I was figuring something B-ish, which would have been okay, since I expect to do better on the final. But obviously a 90 is even nicer. (Especially since I'll probably _still_ do better on the final, since now I know what to expect.)

Also, I got a present today. Since I was having such a bad week last week, my best friend sent me my birthday present early. She found a paperback copy of The Chamber of Secrets at a used book store... the British version. I was briefly confused, but once I finished processing what I was seeing... Very, very cool. :)
********************
Revel> <<Rubic's cubes are evil! I never once, no matter how many times I tried could get my grand father's one back to normal when he could in a matter of minutes.>>
Yeah, I was playing around with one last night, and gave up after five minutes. For a brief period when I was little(ish), I was pretty good at them (meaning I could eventually solve them), but not anymore. Whatever mystical knowledge I used to possess, I've apparently lost in my old age. ;)

<<My old roomie had a teacher like that I would have had to take except I took the class over the summer at a Comm College.>>
That reminds me... There's a class that I want to take over the summer (because that's the only time they offer it, currently), but I've heard horror stories about the guy who teaches it. Apparently, he spits really badly when he talks, and he refuses to ever give anyone full credit on anything, EVER. The sad thing is, I actually think he sounds kind of amusing... although I'll probably change my mind when he hands back the first test. ;)
*************************
Spacebabie> <<You mean the large shiny beetles?>>
I meant fire ants, mosquitoes the size of tennis balls, etc.

<<Hey only I can smack him>>
Nevertheless...
*********************
Gside> <<You're talking about a reasonable amount of time, just that it'd be impossible for the algorithm, right?>>
Neither, actually. The lisp compiler that I'm using is a trial version, with limited features (to try to make you get fed up and pay for the full version). When I tried solving a cube with five turns, it ran out of space and told me to buy the full version.
*******************
Gunjack> << Dude, is that a hoax!? That HAS to be a hoax! There's no way it could be that simple... is there?>>
It doesn't _look_ like a hoax. Even if it's true, though, it'd be years yet...
*****************
Josh> <<bug-free (relatively).>>
*L* I'm certainly familiar with that one.

<<I could never write something like that, AI is so beyond me.>>
It wasn't that hard; the text book gave an implementation of a best-first search algorithm in Lisp, which I just had to get working for this specific problem. Writing the heuristic was a pain, though, and I did the easiest one I possible could. We all would have been screwed, though, if the teacher hadn't taken pity on us and written the code to perform the actual rotations for us. That's some damn ugly code. *shudders*

<<So in other words you've artificially created my brother?>>
Thus justifying the entire AI branch of computing. Yes, sarcasm.

<<I don't remember the last time I vacuumed...>>
Too many cats. The bottoms of my feet were getting furry. (Sounds like a bad horror movie, doesn't it?)

<<I'm sure you can have the dean sign a form or something.>>
I think I used to write the dean parking tickets...

<<I stay away from brainteasers, they piss me off.>>
They piss me off when I shell out good money for them, and solve them before I even get home. Which is why I don't buy them anymore.
*********************

Now I have a paper to write and a quiz to study for, both by this afternoon. I fell really behind on my work last week, and now I get to pay the price. Dammit, this is exactly what I was hoping to avoid this quarter. Oh, well... If I hurry, I _might_ still be able to get a few hours of sleep.

Spent almost all of today working on my programming project, and it still isn't done yet. But I'm very happy with the way its turning out: feature complete and bug-free (relatively).

Bud-Clare: <<It solves a rubic's cube>>: Awesome! I could never write something like that, AI is so beyond me.
<<only if it's not too scrambled>>: So in other words you've artificially created my brother? ;-)
<<laundry and vacuuming>>: I don't remember the last time I vacuumed...
<<Not that I know of>>: That sucks. You should probably investigate it. I'm sure you can have the dean sign a form or something.
<<They aren't all that expensive, you know>>: Sure, if I want something smaller than my computer monitor. But I'm not downgrading from my current roommate's TV (27").
<<being male, you probably do>>: I have my eyes set on a 36" sony.
<<how's the weather in Joshworld?>>: Cold. But looking up.
<<Not that you're counting or anything>>: 24.

Todd: <<I still stand by what I wrote>>: Excellent.

Silvadel: <<the only thing I could think of is with bare legs and a long winter coat I must have REALLY looked like a flasher>>: Random. Funny, though.

Revel: <<no matter how many times I tried could get my grand father's one back to normal when he could in a matter of minutes>>: Some people have a gift for that stuff. I was never any good at them either. I stay away from brainteasers, they piss me off.
<<I prefer to be near deaf after concert, not bloodied or having to bloody someone else>>: Normally I agree, but I really love Disturbed and wanted to be right up front. Serves me right.

Katrina: <<I'm new here>>: I can see that.
<<Whats up?>>: Up is defined as the direction opposite to down.

Spacebabie: <<Hand it over and then badda boom I?m done>>: Done done? Graduated?
<<your butt needs to have a meeting with my foot>>: Alas, you'll have to wait.
<<We just don?t reply too you, so there you are ignored>>: How many times did people in this room try that with REAL trolls?
<<Looking forward too more?>>: Not particularly.
<<I enjoy flashing you>>: BLIND! I"M BLIND!!!
<<Josh thanks you>>: I'll thank you not to put words into my mouth.

Gside: <<You sure you won't be stress testing cases?>>: No, I'm not sure. In fact, I'm still trying to get the details of my internship. But if I am stress testing cases, I'll enjoy that too. What could be more entertaining than destroying macs all day (besides destroying windows boxes)? "Kernel Panic THIS!"

Mecord: <<oil>>: VERY interesting.

Gunjack: <<There's no way it could be that simple>>: Organic chemistry is NOT simple.

I really want to stay up till an obscene hour to finish this project, but I can do that tomorrow.

One painting done this weekend, now to begin the next. Easter was okay, had diner with my roomie's family, interesting bunch. Not going to speak too soon, but I think I'll make the deadlines.

Bud-Clare- Rubic's cubes are evil! I never once, no matter how many times I tried could get my grand father's one back to normal when he could in a matter of minutes. Sorry that you are having stupid instructor problems. Sometiems there are those that you can do everything right and still not win. My old roomie had a teacher like that I would have had to take except I took the class over the summer at a Comm College. SO my only advice is to aviod a prolem if at all possible. Not very orginal but hey. <<Slaps Revel>> Oh c'mon, you thought it was funny too. ;)

Josh- That is why I don't get seats in the pit area. I prefer to be near deaf after concert, not bloodied or having to bloody someone else.

Niamhgold- My heart goes out to you both and all Art students who are not sleeping as much at this time of the year. And sure, you other students as well too. ;) <<Back to Flashing>> Thank you but I have a girlfriend :D

Warpy- no, that was not a part of my top ten plan.

Actually I have an odd "flashing" moment I can talk about...

I had not done wash recently enough and the crazy NJ weather dropped 35 degrees in one day such that it was shorts weather the day before and winter coat weather the day of no clothes. (and we can only wash clothes at night)

So Here I am in a long sleeve shirt and shorts in the house and decide to go get the mail. So I put on my long winter coat. Was still very cold but the only thing I could think of is with bare legs and a long winter coat I must have REALLY looked like a flasher.

Yay! I got my AI project done! It solves a rubic's cube. (But only if it's not too scrambled. My poor computer can only take so much.) I would have gotten done sooner, but I kept doing really stupid things, like repeatedly trying to test a function whose name I had changed a half hour earlier...

Did laundry and vacuuming and such today, too. It was a good day. :)

I didn't post last night because we got back late from the Disturbed concert (Music As A Weapon II is the name of the tour). All of opening bands sucked, which means I paid out the nose to see Disturbed, and they were well worth it. They're a bit preachy between songs, but very inspiring. They had plenty to say on the war and how we should be celebrating our differences rather than striving for uniformity.

By the time they came on I'd muscled my way to within 3 people of the front (huge pit area). Suddenly some guy elbows his way in front of me and jams his fist into my nose. Didn't realize I was bleeding until almost an hour later. My first concert damage.

I made lots of progress on my programming project today. Not quite done yet, but hopefully by the end of this week.

Bud-Clare: <<I needed to drop that class by today, but I didn't get it done in time>>: Can't you emergency drop it or take an incomplete or something?
<<No, you suck>>: Buwahaha.
<<Go away>>: Probably over the summer if it makes you feel better.
<<She'll be leaving next month, anyway. (Woohoo!)>>: My roommate is leaving at the end of the year, and I'm not excited at all. I'll have to find someone with a TV.
<<maybe you'll still sleep badly, out of habit>>: Nope. Nyquil does amazing things when I'm sick.
<<you live in Joshworld>>: Fine. I like it there.

Lain: <<eggs>>: Whoa. Best of luck with those, they look hard.
<<just you wait till you find out its josh>>: Nein.

Revel: <<Two full weeks and then finals week, but it is still a long way to go>>: I hear you. 25 more days for me.
<<congrats at filtering through the BS>>: Thanks. It was quite an effort.
<<Hope this job is everything you wanted, would suck to go through this to find out you hate being there>>: I've considered that possibility. Even if I hate the job, I will definitely learn a lot, so that's a plus.

Leo: <<did they make two positions>>: Yes. It looks like they offered her the position without a consensus from the group (which may or may not mean that I was supposed to get it, we'll never know). To "fix" the error, they offered me a position as well.

Tony: <<did anyone miss me?>>: Sorry, who are you? ;-)
<<I just took away Josh?s fun>>: Not likely. There are so many ways for me to amuse myself.
<<I?m 21 and was born when she was 29>>: For a second I thought that said something very disturbing...

Jaden: <<Eight fast weeks of English, Psych, and Anthropology is going to be a blur>>: I wish my humanities classes went that quickly.

Gside: <<Jew, we try to take you down too>>: Always nice to be included.
<<of course you haven't learnt anything about the internals>>: I will this summer.

Warpmind: <<If you're not here to help me with the housework, bugger off!>>: Brilliant.
<<you're still just a wuss from sunny and calm California>>: I freely admit to that.

Attila: <<Jesus>>: Very funny.

Todd: <<I don't think that "Pendragon" is actually inferior to "Timedancer" at all>>: Do you think maybe your leading role in the series might be affecting your evaluation of it? (not that I agree or disagree, mind you).

Edi: << WHEN WILL THERE BE ANY NEW TIMEDANCER EPISODES?!>>: Never.
<<I'M GOING TO DIE!>>: Doubtful. And if you do, its one less person asking about new episodes.

Oraidhe: <<writing>>: Very interesting.

Hoo, I debated replying to this- I can't afford to seriously join *another* place like this, with finals two weeks away. But the lure of a rational discussion on this is too much. I can quit any time I want...

(Prescript; this is not an attempt to change minds, it's a more detailed explanation of my own statement)

A much better author than I once explained writing to me. There's lots to it, but in the end, you write because you want to write, because you enjoy the act of writing. There's lots of things you do to write, but there are two main phases; you imagine a story, then you tell the story. Skill (and enjoyment) of the one part is wholly unrelated to the second.

For me, the actual mechanics of telling a story is something that I only somewhat enjoy, and I'm nowhere near as good as it as I am the first part, imagining. But when it comes to raw imagination of settings, characters, worlds... I can do that all day, and I'll love every moment I spend doing it. That's a big part of what attracts me to the things I like, including Gargoyles; the breadth and depth of the world and the story is frankly insipring to someone like me. It's also a big part of why most fanfics, no matter how well done, fail to engage me at all. In my humble opinion though, what you people have here is something special, something to be treasured above and beyond other stories on the internet. If most writers online had told me the same thing you just did, Lynati, I wouldn't have had to think before saying no, and probably laughing as well. But here, it wasn't an easy thing to write, and it's entirely possible that by the time you actually do make a call for new writers, I'll have changed my mind. I can't imagine anything that would do that to me, but this. I'll leave off with, oddly, a quote from Lovecraft that sums up my normal opinion to 'working on others playgrounds';

"Why should I fret in microcosmic bonds,
That chafe the spirit and the mind repress,
When through the clouds gleam beckoning beyonds,
Whose shining vistas mock man's littleness?"

(postscript; Just saw another new person (I think) post. Interesting. I think Timedancer's last episode was a very effective cliffhanger, and was only meant to be such.)

Hello! First, I have to say that the Pendragon and TimeDancer stories are truly the best stories among the Gargoyes Saga stories. Now my comment is: I think the Season Four Conclusion of TimeDancer was anticlimactic. I mean, it just "froze" as Meryt watched that black dragon go destroy the world! (The episode name was The Harsh Light of Day, Part Three, Season Four.) So, my question is: WHEN WILL THERE BE ANY NEW TIMEDANCER EPISODES?!!?!

I'M GOING TO DIE!! *gasp!*

In response to Question's remark here earlier, while "Timedancer" has indeed had many good episodes, so has "Pendragon". (And it's due for more good episodes come Season Four, too). I don't think that "Pendragon" is actually inferior to "Timedancer" at all.

I have noticed that there aren't that many fanfics out there based on "Pendragon", but I suspect that it's more due to the fact that "Pendragon" focuses around characters who didn't have a large role in "Gargoyles" (Arthur and Griff only appeared in two episodes each in the animated series) and doesn't directly involve the Manhattan clan (indeed, it's more "humano-centric" than "gargoyle-centric" - it may be significant that the "Pendragon"-inspired fanfics that I've stumbled across focus more on the London clan, such as a Harry Potter crossover in "Avalon Mists" a while ago that had Hagrid meeting Lucy). But I don't think that the lack of "TGS: Pendragon"-inspired fanfics has anything to do with the quality of the spin-off.

(I remember that Mandi once wrote an unfinished Buffy/Pendragon crossover some years ago, where Buffy and Co. - back in the high school period of the show - visit London and wind up getting hopelessly lost due to Xander - who's driving - refusing to stop and ask for directions. They finally had a run-in with the London vampyres - with Cordelia staying out of the fight until a vampyre's energy bolt grazed her hair, after which she charged into the battle in a fury.)

*Warpmind strolls in, pondering.*
Y'know, we have a plague of Jehovah's Witnesses around here now... I'm considering writing a religious leaflet with the title "If you're not here to help me with the housework, bugger off!" and slipping it to them next time they visit... }:)

Gside: Hellsing is different. In Hellsing, all the eyes staring back at least belong to the *same* guy. The eyes on my sheet of paper look like they are part of a collection belonging to a hunchback named Igor... :P As for the level of my up-to-now drawing skills, well, it is generally an advantage, IMO, that what you draw at least *resembles* what shows up on the paper. 100% accuracy may not be all that important, but I'd like to, at least once, have someone recognize what I draw. :/ As for my response to the statement about my mind, it was more like "Took you long enough to notice." };)

Josh: Yeah, but you're still just a wuss from sunny and calm California, while I grew up in an area that most of all resembles a dog's nose. Cold, wet and most of the time stuck in unpleasant regions. (Except for the five days of summer we get each year, give or take.) I'm made of a lot sterner stuff than you are, my friend. ;)

*Looks at the Top Ten, then at Revel and Tony Elliot, and diplomatically shuts up about it.*

Well, anyways, I gotta check my luggage. I think it's got a hangnail, and I'm not sure of which of it's hundreds of little feet is afflicted.

My scholarship was lost ages ago... I just really, really needed to not screw up anymore, so that I'd stand a chance of salvaging my GPA before I graduate (whenever the hell that will be). But the worst part probably isn't even the grade itself, it's just that I was so proud of myself for not screwing off this quarter. I was doing really well, keeping up with the readings and everything, not procrasinating very much, and then I suddenly get whacked upside the head with a bad grade. It's frustrating. I procrastinated less this quarter than I ever have in my life, and I _still_ get a bad grade. It was making me feel like no matter how much I improve, it will never be good enough. But I'm better, now. Now I just feel like my teacher is dumb. ;)

Trust me Timedancer gets better on in the latter seasons which is why you have people writing fanfics about Brooklyn and Sata, but not Arthur, Griff and Kid Merlin
