**Steps into the light for once**
Greetings;
Life progresses in an odd sort of way as my research takes up about 105% of my time (my supervisor would like it to be 120%).
Lain: The problem that you are describing may be ringtail. It's caused by dehydration and in young rats it will cause a constriction of the muscles around the base of the tail. This causes a loss of blood to the cutaneous tissue and can result in the loss of the tail in severe instances. I would check the water dispenser in the cage and be sure to check the wound for signs of necrosis. If it gets worse, find a vet.
**Shuffles back into the shadows**

Gunjack> <<Moulin Rouge's Bolero>>: Anything like Ravel's?
<<Misse Papah and Zee Deepuh>>: Any reason you're matching the Engrish?
<<need to have an entire season to play around in rather than three episodes>>: I believe they have a Read of Die series, but I believe there's also a new cast.
<<Fruits Basket confuses me: it LOOKS like a girl, and it SOUNDS like a girl, so... it's a boy?>>: You haven't seen the cow or monkey, let alone the snake yet, have you? The snake is just wrong. Very, very wrong.
<<Wildarms was pleasentlyu zany>>: Sounds like my type. Is it based on the RPGs?
<<She bites firmly, and has very sharp teeth>>: I can see where that would go wrong.
<<Plus she licks>>: But how can that be a bad thing?
<<You like?>>: S'allright.not quite my style, but close enough.
<<Dude, yer a huge teddy bear>>: Maybe through an unfocused picture, but the reality is more than most people can bear.
<<And you are a FOUNT of odd information>>: Thank you. So my Chrono Trigger characters are just shy of being completely maxed out. Are you trying to tell me not everyone plays through the few dozen times needed to pick up all the speed/strength/magic tabs needed?
<<pines for the good old days>>: As do I, but I am too dedicated to myself to change.
<<How many are there?>>: Only six. The universe may not have survived more.
<<but there is a Giant Robo AMV to a song called "I'm Super">>: Funny, but not as good a video as Liberi Fatali. And I'm going to have to watch Giant Robo again. I don't remember the crossdressing.
<<If yer carrying 60 pounds of clothes, or manga, or bootleg anime CDs>>: It wasn't that much.
<<I was killing myself hauling... fermented dairy products>>: Cheese isn't fermented. Fermenting turns grape juice into wine.
<<you listen to the WIERDEST music of any pacifistic fuzzy hippie nice guy I know>>: Waht about me? Oh, right, I'm not pacifistic.
<<John Carpenter's Eggs>>: Eh, I'd eat the double.

*Still listening to evil Moulin Rouge hoochy music*
Spike> <<I can honestly said that I never saw anyone...>> We probably saw ya, but didn't know who you were. Maybe next year, eh? <<The most surreal moment for me was when I spied a guy who had his face tattooed like a tiger, complete with facial implants (muzzle) and studs...>> Scary, scary man... But at least a good patron. ^_^ ...Glad to hear you had a good Con too.
Dezi> <<Lol. kinda. In a sick sorta way.>> That's okay. *chuckles at her rat stories* ...Sounds like you've got a pair of cuties, even if they are over-annoying hyperactive dinks. 8 ) Lain loses sleep to her cats, who sleep all day and then race and wrestle and stalk the evil Plastic Bag Menace all night, every night. It's enough to drive one to break out the chinese cookbook.
<<Case closed and the creep is long gone. WEEEEEE! So see if you even try to hit me with a bag of bricks, I will sic my attack mommy on you. :)>> Okay, ya got me there... Though she DID once decide that the TV was an evil influence on us kids, and beat a hole in the side of it with a hatchet... Oh, and it's brick BREAD, not bricks. It's this crazy bread she makes out of the pureed contents of an entire refrigerator, and then cooks into these delicious little loaves of bread. Good stuff, but it's about as light and fluffy as lead, and it fills ya up in a HURRY.
Gside> <<There are some who say that can be a very enjoyable experience.>> *examines the nice set ofcompletely non-fictional teethmarks in his NRA Membership card* ...She bites firmly, and has very sharp teeth. Plus she licks. It's gross. 8 P
<<I'd agree with her.>> I would too, when I didn't have to lug it by foot, plane, and bus.
<<A haunting, if not lively, bit from Clannad, the theme from Harry's Game.>> You like?
<<But why would you want to? Remember, this is me you're talking about.>> Large, check. Fuzzy, double check. Dude, yer a huge teddy bear. Chicks dig that.
<<What about the Fates/Moirae: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos (who has a ribbon that boosts Robo's speed by three and magic defense by 10)?>> Or the Greaea, Enyo, Dieno, and Pamphredo? And you are a FOUNT of odd information.
<<Wilek likes straight up violence with a Lovecraftian twist. The rest of us talk about sex way too much for his tastes.>> ...Except for me. I miss hunting tentacles with him... *pines for the good old days* <<Thank you, though you haven't gotten to the boxing glove yet, right?>> Nope. Only made it through the GIANT BASEBALL episode. How many are there? <<Got it. Would have gotten it earlier if I knew it had Kitty Pryde.>> Misseh Deepuh IS lovely. I esecially like the glock-18-in-the-face shot... And thanks for zee TIPS... 8 D <<...and Giant Robo (which happens to have a guy in a suit, fedora, and trenchcoat (granted, it is pink, but he's immortal)).>> I dunno if I told you8 about this, but there is a Giant Robo AMV to a song called "I'm Super". It nearly killed me from laughter.
SKITTLES!
<<But it isn't Christmas.>> ...And Wilek gave him to ME, dangit! He's an indispenmsible part of the Honorable Valentine Crime Syndicate and Bookies Association!
Patrick> <<So which is heavier... 60 pounds of cheese or 60 pounds of feathers?>> It's psychological. If yer carrying 60 pounds of clothes, or manga, or bootleg anime CDs, or cash money, you think to yourself "I'm enduring the muscle ache and exhaustion and banged shins so that I can wear clothes/read/drool at Asuka/roll in money like a freebasing Scrooge McDuck." But there comes a time when, staggering through the streets of Detroit, I realized that I was killing myself hauling... fermented dairy products. There's just no dignity to it. 8 P
DPH> <<you don't have SARS, right? That was a joke, right?>> Aww, yer cute when yer worried. ;8 ) ...No, just a nasty and recursive cold that made me wonder if they were going to let me over the border.
Tony> <<Thanks for sticking up for me, being one of the folks 'on your payroll' :)>> Weee OOOoooooowwwwwnnnnn Yyyyooooooouuuuuu... Just kidding. 8 ) You still coo, foo?
Gabe> <<On a brighter note, I got one of three ordered CDs in.>> Dude, you listen to the WIERDEST music of any pacifistic fuzzy hippie nice guy I know...
Bud Clare> <<It's not appropriate for a new car's name to include "scratch.">> Heh. True. <<These are the choices? :P>>
<<Trade ya.>> Nope. 8 D ...But if you're ever in Texas, drop by her place and prepare for pampering the likes of which you've never seen. <<*sighs* It is, isn't it? Need money to buy. And need to steal Siryn's boyfriend's ROD clock. ;)>> They make clocks? Cooooooooolll.... o.O
Niamhgold> <<Offer the womens some pocky. They'll swarm like flies (make sure it's CHOCOLATE pocky) ;)>> A cunning plan, but MY womens stole all the pocky, and were in no mood to share.

I can honestly said that I never saw anyone but Shinga, a fellow artist from S8, the entire time I was at A-kon, although I did follow a skinny bearded guy wearing khakis and a Gathering 2002 shirt down the stairwell from the parking garage on Sunday morning. I called out, "Hey, you've been to a Gathering!" but he either didn't hear me (highly possible, it was loud in the stairwell) or he thought I was a kook. I had my son Paul with me Frid ay and my son Ryan on Sunday so if you saw me, you would have dismissed as a random mommyperson anyway. (If you saw a dark-haired woman with a little blonde boy with a blue dragon on his shoulder, that was me.)
All in all, I had a GREAT A-kon. I took 30 pictures to the art show and I sold 16 of them. Two of them even went to the Saturday night auction and that's the first time that's ever happened. The most surreal moment for me was when I spied a guy who had his face tattooed like a tiger, complete with facial implants (muzzle) and studs, looking at this pic. <click> I went into the GameStop to see what freebies were there, came out and the pic was gone! He'd bought it direct sale before anyone could put a bid on it! That was almost more surprising than his appearance -- most people prefer to bid or wait until Sunday to get a cheaper price. I'm really looking forward to next year when A-kon moves to the Adam's Mark (downtown Dallas, near the Arts District) so the art show can spread out.

*Written to The Song That Almost Killed Him: Moulin Rouge's Bolero*
So it's been a week since we left for Akon. Here's the skinny.
American border gaurds suck, and are payed to inflict as much misery as possible on anyone who looks the least bit suspicious. Lain got chewed for about fifteen minutes as they went through her luggage, purse, and wallet, and chided her on only having $200 on hand for a week-long visit where she would have ZERO expenses. I hate border gaurds.
We made it to detroit thursday night, but our flight didn't leave till 6am friday morning. I got an hour or two of sleep on a bench, and Lain stayed up sewing the gloves for her Witch Hunter Robin costume. We got to the Con at 8am friday morning, already pretty wasted. This is not a good way to go into Akon, but we got by okay. Lain's costume came out perfectly, and she was absolutely MOBBED by cameras the whole of the Con. My "costume" was the standard Gunjack suit and a trenchcoat, commonly mistaken for "the Sprint PCS guy". I need more guns. So we wandered the Con, scoping the wares, searched for Spike in the Gallery about ten times a day, schmoozed in the Hospitality Suite, and got yelled at for sleeping in the Cosplay.
The anime was pretty good. Banner of the Stars looks good just for the Naval combat. Read or Die is... Incredible. Misse Papah and Zee Deep uh need to have an entire season to play around in rather than three episodes. FLCL defies all rational description, and evoked fits of laughter that nearly unhinged my jaw. Fruits Basket confuses me: it LOOKS like a girl, and it SOUNDS like a girl, so... it's a boy? Wildarms was pleasentlyu zany, Scryed lacked force, and Heat Guy J was... eh. I missed Gun Frontier and She: The Ultimate Weapon, so I'll have to look into both of those later.
The Music Vids weren't as good this year either, and it didn't help that two of the HANDS DOWN best entries were utterly screwed by sound problems. Much bouncies, not so much action. Lain's got this crazy idea of entering a SELF-ANIMATED amv of her own for next year, so we'll see how that works out.
Overall, this year was... different. Lain and my sister weren't really into the whole con "thing" as much as, say, the Skinny Man, so we ended up taking things much easier, sleeping in and heading home early. It was okay, but I missed the obsessive slapping-each-other-awake-and-going-back-in-for-another-round that we've done the last two years. Maybe next year.
After the Con, we repaired to my parents' house for a little R&R. Lain, through her mad L337 interpersonal skills, turned this into a miniGathering. Revel, I've learned, looks EXACTLY like Bean Bandit from Gunsmith Cats, and he's either patient or geeky enough to listen to me reading webcomics out loud.
*In Evil Emperor voice*
"An d by Powerful, I mean Full of Sugar."
The Skinny Man dropped by the next day, Gabe arrived that night, and we had one of those pleasent evenings of philosophical discussion and grabass that make this whole travel thing worthwhile. Yeah, Rev's pretty cool. So's Gabe, and not getting to hang out with you guys is one of the few downsides of living this far North. Catch y'all around Christmas, y'hear?

Lain: Lol. kinda. In a sick sorta way. We had a rat at the pet store that I used to work at that was born with no tail. Looked like a hamster. I wonder what it looked like grown up. My rats are driving me nuts. Lately at 5.30 am sharp Demus goes nuts, rolls the cat toy balls with bells in them around like its the end of the world, and religiously throws all of his bedding out of the cage. After the second morning of this, Demus and Zen (Demus's roommate) have no more toys to play with at nite because I took them away, so now I wake up to squeaking as Demus pounces on Zen. *sigh* between that, my dog going crazy over the whole thing (she believes they are squirre ls with funny tails and all squirrels must be aprehended)and the stray cats fighting outside, sleeping until my alarm goes off is just wonderful. ha. ha. ha.
oh yeah and funny story for everyone to read and enjoy. I had to write an essay for my summer lit. class. I serious essay about the Ballad of Birmingham (church bombings). Well I rush home from work on Wednesday, finish up the essay, print it, stample it and run out the door to class and turn the wretched thing in. That nite, my boyfriend looks at the printer and says Hey where's the pictures I printed out? ..... We look everywhere and I end up sending an email to my teacher NOT to look past the bibliography page on my paper. The pictures Brandon printed out were of (page one) Homer Simpson and (page two) some drawings he did of a (fictional) girl with clothes strategically placed but in provocative positions. Just one step up from porn, really. AND I TURNED IT INTO MY TEACHER STAMPLED AT THE END OF MY ESSAY! She did email me back saying that she is leaving the pics there untouched and it (thankfully) won't effect her evaluation of my essay. *whew*
ok Laugh at me. And now always check your homework before handing it in.
later!

yeah so.. i have another rat. my friend got a rat for her 8 year old son as a pet. earlier today, he picked her up by her tail and half of the skin on her tail just kinda.. slid off. yeah. its pretty gross. so, because i know more about rats than my friend does, i get the rat. and also, because she wants to keep her son away from it. 45 minutes later, i have her tail polysporined and bandaged up (shes a wiggly little beast) after that, she started gnawing on the bandage so i put one of those little paper cone-things on her head. shes currently flipping around her cage trying to get it off, she obviously doesnt like it but.. better than her gnawing her tail off :P.
i dunno, maybe her tail will just fall off or something. i hope she survives.

actually there is a better one than that which does not need a taxi if you are using JFK or LGA
http://www.nyairportservice.com/about_us.html
You pay for a ticket to Penn Station (which is walking distance to the hotel) and it will take you to grand central station where you will transfere to another bus to take you to Penn station.
From LGA $10
From JFK $13

Hey, everyone. I'm attending the Gathering this year, but being on a student's budget, I need to try and cut corners. So I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring and say that I need a place to sleep at the Gathering, on the nights of the 27th, 28th, and probably the 29th. (planning on getting there Friday afternoon and leaving Monday morning, though I may have to leave Sunday night). I have a sleeping bag and a pillow, so all I need is floor space in someone's room; I'd be glad to chip in for the cost of said room.
I'm okay with a corner of the floor, I'm quiet, and best of all, I don't snore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can drop me a line at whitbourne@hotmail.com

We left Dallas at about noon, and reached Detroit at around 2:30. We made it to the greyhound station at 4pm, only tofind out that the next bus didn't leave for another NINE HOURS. Have any of you ever spent NINE HOURS in a greyhound terminal with a very bored lain? After she went through all my Gunsmith Cats and NRA magazines, she gnawed my flesh for about four hours.
Oh yeah, and we made this trip carting a weeks'-worth of dairy production for the ENTIRE MIDWESTERN UNITED STATES. For some reason, my mother thought it would be helpful to pack about SIXTY POUNDS OF CHEESE in our luggage. If you've never carried sixty pounds of cheese, let me clue you in: It's FAR KING HEAVY!
So we get on our bus, manage to get across the border without any unpleasent questions about cheese-running or my nasty case of SARS.
It's almost five in the morning, and today really sucked. We're going to bed now.

The bus/subway *used* to be $1.50. It went up to $2 not too long ago. For anyone arriving at JFK, you can take the M60 bus to 125th street and then take the 6 or 5 down to Grand Central and hop on another train or just walk. Just don't use the 125th station after dark--it's in the middle of Harlem and can get kinda scary. In the daytime it's fine, though.

Hey winged wanna-bee's and even those who are content being merely bipedal.
Just wanted to say 'HI'; its been a while since I posted.
I'm up to 'Dishonor' in TimeDancer... Thumbs up to the crew of TD so far, if not the most well written stuff, its still quite entertaining.

MoonKitty Cat - Is GNL dead? I really liked it, but it's hard to be a 'fan' of something that isn't available.
<I recently lost a hard drive too> this is good excuse to delay... more.
Spike - Thanks for posting the Ariana link last week, that was some great art. It inspired me to dust off my pencil and try another sketch. So, I drew an anthro of my sweetie, Renee, and thought I'd share it with the group. http://www.cyberavalon.com/amandaanthro4.jpg
Lain - Thanks for sticking up for me, being one of the folks 'on your payroll' :)
Green Baron - I never really had a good explanation for my church, but I haven't forgotten our discussion earlier this year. The senor pastor put up one of his more recent series. If curiosity or boredom has gotten the best of you, check it out http://www.elmbrook.org/lawrenz/grownupfaith/

Well, I deceded to go to the Gathering at the last minute. And it seems all the hotels within a 20 mile radius are no more than +/- $40 of the Con hotel, which for the amount of time I wat to sat is $500+ total. Too ,much for me alone. Is ther anybody arriving the 26 and leaving on the 1st who would be willing to share a room? I can even bring a cot so you wouldn't have to share your bed. :) (E-mail address below)

Ir's officialy Hurricane season!!!!
Oh I love The Crazy Buffet. Sushi bar, Salad bar, desert bar, asian food buffet with peking duck and they have a wok and habachi grill. We had a big party with my parents myself and some of dad's work friends and their family. There were 12 of us. The gave us complimentary champagne with caviar and crackers. Between the champagne, my long island iced tea and a few sake shots I became a bit light headed.
Oh but the food wa so good. I had plenty of sushi and then reloaded my plate with lowe mein noodles, chicken on a stick teriyake pork, and some duck meat, and for desert I had a slice of green tea cake. I hope there is a similar place near the hotel in New York.
Countdown time.

I was going to save this announcement for after the room cleared, but as Leo says, it seems that it happens every two weeks now instead of every week, so....
We will be reading the Season Four Premiere of "Pendragon" at the Gathering 2003. (I don't know who exactly will be reading it; I won't be going this year, alas, so it clearly won't be me. But I'm certain that somebody will be reading it.) The episode is entitled "Out of the Blue", and was written by yours truly. If you want to know more, you'll have to either go to the Gathering and attend the reading (but I suspect that most of you were going to the Gathering anyway) or wait until later this year when we release it at the TGS site.

Mooncat, did you look into any data recovery labs? It may be worth having the drive examined to see if anything can be recovered. Most of the labs give a free evaluation and a price quote if there's anything salvagable.

Please pardon me; I have never posted here before, but it was suggested I post here about my current predicament.
I recently had a harddrive die on me, and while I *thought* I had gotten all my files saved to disc, apparently a few somehow escaped. I have no idea how. It truely saddens me tho', because some were from the Gathering 2002 art show. If you were there you would recognize Fantastic Four? and Intertwined from the Canon Color category.
http://imaginatorcentral.com/ic/art/fanart/if/artfan20.jpg
http://imaginatorcentral.com/ic/art/fanart/if/artfan16.jpg
Both of these pieces were sold, and I don't know to whom. But if anyone here knows who got either of these pieces, I would greatly appreciate sending my word their way, or getting me in contact with them. I like to have a high rez file of all my pieces in my 'database,' and 2002 will be quite empty without these two.
I thank you ahead of time for any assistance you may provide.

I feel like such a parent with this Iguana, Plato. He broke his leg the other day because he enjoys leaping off four-foot ledges. He's just a hatchling, so leaping off of something that high isn't too safe for him. I had to take him to the vet ($48) so he could get a splinter on his leg. Haha, he looks so cute with it on ^_^ I do all this and what do I get? Bitten and tail-whipped (literally and metaphorically haha!).
On a brighter note, I got one of three ordered CDs in. Bathory's "Blood Fire Death." Damn, that title just makes the album rule! And it does!! :) The others are so far non-existent, which is worrying me since I ordered them a week ago. One from Indonesia (I can understand why thsi is taking a while), and the other from a home-based internet store that's ten minutes from where I live.
Finding Nemo> I didn't think it was as good as the trailers made it out to be. It's redeeming quality to me, at least, was Ellen. I used to think she was the shiznick when I was younger, and I certainly enjoyed her performance as a short-term memory fish *L*. Did anyone else notice the absence of any mother figures. Seriously, I can understand why they would intentionally avoid any sort of mother-figure for Nemo, but for the turtles and stuff?
Matrix Reloaded> Another "Attack of the Clones." Hyped up so much and it just plain sucks. I don't know if it was because they gave Reeves more lines (he shouldn't talk) or because the plot just died after two seconds, but I seriouisly did not like this movie. Adn the ending was utterly rediclous: the part where they reveal who the only survivor is, and then the suspense music cues. I laughed my @$$ off in the theatre. They had better redeem themselves. Go figure, when you name your movie after a dumb Metallica album, it should be the first que that the movie's gonna be dumb lol. The should name the next one "Matrix: Blood Fire Death." ;) THen you know it's gonna rule!

Hey everybody. Been busy. Not much time to post anything. Anyways, I got back from A-kon earlier today. No real interesting stories to tell. I'll post some pictures as soon as I get them developed. The only other person from the CR I saw was Robby (or, more acurratley, he and A aron are the only people here that I've met before, and therefore know what they look like), and I didn't even get a chance to say hello because my voice is completely shot and the crowds were far to large this year. I know they're changing the location next year, and I can only hope the accomidations are larger.
But post pics if you've got them. I have to go pass out from exhaustion now.

Finding Nemo > we just got back from seeing it. All three of us enjoyed it. Very much up to the high Pixar standards in both animation and storytelling. Maybe not for the littlest kids -- at least three were carried sobbing out of the theater by their parents -- but Becca had a great time.
Of course, what I liked best was the deliciously swashbucklery action-packed Pirates of the Caribbean trailer ... ::swoon::

Happy birthday Comment Room! Five years and it still hasn't been destroyed by massive flame wars! ;)
I have no idea if this is going to be my last lengthy post for the summer or not; I won't know that until I get to my new place and figure out internet hookup. But I'm sure my presence will be greatly reduced. It's going to be Christmas every day, even in July!
I can't say that I'm not glad my car decided to go terminal--it's better than sinking any more dinero into that money-pit-with-wheels. And I've got a "proxy" vehicle to use for the next year or so (hopefully, if we can get all registrations transferred on Monday). It's nothing grand and I'm sure I'll get poked at a little for it, but it's not going to kill me. I hope ;)
Not too long until the Gathering. And I finally have roomies! :) It's two weeks after my birthday, but I'll consider it my b-day present nonetheless--14 days until I'm legal! :)
DPH: <In Arkansas, companies are billing the insurance company for repairing the windshield and the customer pays nothing> We used to have a $100 deductible included with my insurance; but when the premium for that specific coverage went up, my dad decided not to renew it (since, ironically, the first year I owned my car there was a massive hailstorm that cracked my windshield and it needed to be replaced).
<Mutant test - You're looking a certified mutant - 92% on the test> I am so envious. I want to be able to BAMPH like Nightcrawler!!! ;)
<)I'm not sure my car could make there and back.> It's best not to risk it ;)
Gside: <Unless you'd also have a back design to go with it. Pure white backs don't work for me.> ::pictures crenallated Wyvern pattern::
<How can you pick just two tricksters to be the jokers? Or if Puck's getting knighted, which will be the big and which the little joker?> Very sorry--I had meant Jacks ;) If I have any time for the jokers, I've decided they will be Coyote and Raven, but I'm only mailing in the Queens, Kings, and Jacks right now.
<why does reserving a room over the internet have a better rate than the con rate?).> I'm skeptical of their online system. For example, when I checked what their AAA discount rates would be for the same number of nights, the price quote actually *increased* by $150.
<There's been three nice days in Jersey this spring> But that's cuz you're the arm pit of America.
<Six two, give ot take a couple fractions. Also somewhere around 250lbs, so I am large and hairy.> Why does that "Henry the Eighth I Am" song come to mind? ;)
<That's maple country.> An' when momma weaned us, she stuck a tap in ar trees and made us suck 'em.
<They don't eat much.> Do you have to chew for them? (Rocko reference)
<What happened to tickling and other sensory enhancements? Besides, mine is long, soft, and not bristly> Hehe.
<I wouldn't want to know about that.> I didn't, either.
<Stopped by the FBI, the guy guided me towards an agent position (with a gun).> Screw the FBI...you need the CIA! The FBI didn't even have a coherent email system until after 9/11 ;)
<Niamhgold is small, and doesn't want a ten foot pole> Nine feet, maybe. I work better with multiples of 3 ;)
<I am large and hairy> But not a giant brillo pad.
<He had something to say about everything, which generated a lot of responses in return> That also explains the lack of killing/maiming/flaming/growling in here, too. (Again, I want Nicolai! ;)).
<I'm a one a day man, around midnight> Probably need more than that for the womens.
<I've reserved a room and registered> Methinks you have a fanclub!
<Ballmer is the guy Gates got to run Microsoft.> "Developers Developers Developers Developers!" Man, does that guy sweat!
Dezi: <Lucky you. Live it up. :)> After I pay for it ;)
<Ahhhh! My boyfriend just picked up a hooker on Vice City!! > That game rocks!
GB: <That doesn't sound too good, but the bus stop in Memphis is pretty seedy, too> I think most are, cuz the one in San Jose was like that too.
Mec: <On the other hand the adolescent section of the crowd actually applauded at the end. But I have to admit I found it trying at times to be completely serious about a couple of fish. Overall it was a good movie. A date movie definitely> Good to hear. Pixar is my fave company because of the adolescent/adult innuendos, and it reminds me a lot of how the old Warner Bros. department works. While Disney 2D can have it's ooey-gooeiness (except for Lilo and Stitch), I think Pixar's stuff should remain, as you say, date movie material ;)
Leo: <I have a counterresponse for this but I think it may corrupt the few innocent minds in the CR. :p > What good are my lewd comments then if no one takes the bait?! ;)
<Leo ponders weather or not he wants to know the origins of this thread> Check his website...for *one* origin ;)
<::squints:: and how did this discussion about body hair get started? :p> Huh?
<(after which she got the b.b. gun out of the closet and spent 30 minutes shooting at sparrows while she calmed down).> LOL that's awesome. What about squirrels?
<Drawbacks to that are the 6 hour drive from Southern VA and New York parking/traffic> Will you pass Baltimore along the way? (AKA Interstate 95)
Gunjack: <This means no Master Roshi, which in turn means no screaming mobs of women chasing us around the Con. This is unfortunate.> Offer the womens some pocky. They'll swarm like flies (make sure it's CHOCOLATE pocky) ;)
<Now lets wait five months and see if he used it. 8 P> I'm going to name my proxy vehicle...Moose ;)
Mooncat: <my hard drive on my main computer died. I'm on the laptop now. may be incommunicado for a while> Oouch, that sucks! Not having a laptop, in that situation I'd be screwed ;) Good luck!
Spacebabie: <Mwa ha ha Atta girl> I've always been a devout PC user, since they're pretty easy to build from different parts (and thus cheaper). Though in years, I've grown less anti-Mac and probably foresee owning one of each at one point. When the whole starving artist thing goes away ;)
Todd: <In 2005, a musical version of "The Lord of the Rings" is going to open in London, reportedly with a budget of over 18 million pounds> That way, Gandalf and Saruman can battle with their larynxes! ;)
Dark? < heard they have a musical for the Lion king too!> Yeah, and a new musical is going to be released this summer to coincide with the DVD release (we have to do some licensing for this at work, and Disney's license department SUCKS ;)).
That was longer than I thought. Adios!

Heh... that's because I'm so remarkably inconspicuous. *L* Friday & Saturday I was there betwee 9-2. The crowds start to get to me after a few hours so I don't stay the full day. I'll be really glad when A-kon moves downtown to the Adam's Mark Hotel because it was really CROWDED this year, what with the 3200+ that were pre-reg and the story in Friday's newspaper.
If you and Lain are there Sunday, I should be there between 12-3 because I have to close out the art show at 3:30. With the exception of Shinga, an artist that hangs out at S8, I haven't met anyone I know either!

Here we are, at my parents house. I'm resting my feet, and Lain's hiding out from her legions of adoring fanboys. Even the Skinny Man's Master Roshi costume didn't get this many picture requests and creepy propisitions. Me, I've stuck with my suit and trenchcoat, though I was vehimently told that I was.... "shishami"(?) from the series "X". Since the character in question is a bishonen, I think the girl was mistaken.
Saw FLCL 1-4 and Read or Die 1-3. Gside, you were completelty right about Furry Curry... But if you haven't seen ROD yet, get it NOW. It is a thing of wondrous beauty.

Mmmmmm. Apples are good. I just ate an apple. It was the first apple I have eaten in a long time. :)
I don't really know why I'm posting now. The board is just gonna get wiped soon. Well, prolly not.
Trip home for Mem. weekend went fine. Didn't have to talk to my idiot brother at all but he did encourage my 5 yr old sister to punch me but she tattled to me on him. Ah, my little protege. My sister and I made Shrinky-dink jewelry too. Next time I get to see her we are gonna make green chocolate chip cookies. Five year olds are so fun. The little one, Nicole, who is now about 5 months old, makes spit bubbles and grabs fingers. She also kicks like an enraged soccer player. She's a cute little chubby baby.
Ahhhh! My boyfriend just picked up a hooker on Vice City!! Ok, well he shot her now. I guess that makes it all better. I have successfully gotten him hooked on Inuyasha (he is already a softcore Gargoyles fan). BTW I now have downloaded up to Inuyasha 109 (Eat that Warpmind! :) )
My dog has been tormented by a house fly. She has taken to hiding under our kitchen table because everyone knows that flies don't go under there. She is also very clingy and sits right next to me because I will protect her. She is also wearing royal blue nail polish!
Oh yeah, and I'm proud to announce 2 things: I got an A in ancient history, and REM's new single "Bad Day" debuts on October 27 in Europe and Oct. 28 in the US. YEA!

While here on a visit to see me, she tracked down this creepy dude that used to work with my boyfriend and was trying to split us up so he could have Brandon "all to himself", and was sending me nasty evil psycho emails to me out of the blue, well my equally psycho and dangerous attack mommy called him on his cell phone while he was at work and cussed him out and then some, scared the living life out of him to the point where all he could do was try lamely to claim in a chat room that my mom liked women (which, if you actually wanted to make fun of my mom, you are at the opposite ended of the scale, as my mom has a very complex history of dating many men). Anyway, all this happened without my knowledge, as I was at work, but word got back to me about the mom insults about 2 weeks later, and when I told my mom she had been lamely insulted, she said, simply, "well that's prolly because I yelled at him". Case closed and the creep is long gone. WEEEEEE! So see if you even try to hit me with a bag of bricks, I will sic my attack mommy on you. :)

Just got back from Finding Nemo. Haven't seen a whole lot about it in here so I thought I'd give a brief review.
***Spoiler Warning***
Though it has been advertised as another disney movie for the kids, this one actually had a serious edge that the kids near me surely didn't apreciate. I heard several "What happened?" "What's wrong?" kind of questions. Then there were a few parts that sent the kids screaming. On the other hand the adolescent section of the crowd actually applauded at the end. But I have to admit I found it trying at times to be completely serious about a couple of fish. Overall it was a good movie. A date movie definitely. just keep in mind that it is a disney movie and the usual plot holes and such are to be overlooked (such as fish reading English, not suffocating while in the air, and the pelican not eating the hero). Also expect a neat and tidy ending with all the loose ends tied up. And for those of you who care to, stick around during the closing credits to watch a few more antics from the various characters and a suprise cameo of a character from Monsters Inc.
***End Spoilers***
Well, that's all for now.

Another fine day at Kosovo, and next week, I will be in Bulgaria again, for a nice break from the usual routine.
In other news, I sometimes wonder if my family knows everything that occurs in uptown New Orleans. Recently, my mother put up 14 books for auction. They are 73-75 years old each, and were written by my grandmother or her cousin. Through a series of connections, my father found out about this, and in the divorce agreement, my father has full legal right to all books, mainly so I can have them. The auctions have stopped, so one victory has been achieved.
I don't know why my mother was selling the herilooms in teh first place, but I suppose it was for my sister Anne's trip to Europe, plu sshe recently had her wisdom teeth removed and her car died, so my mother helped her buy a 2001 Toyota. As far as I am cocnerned, if Anne's car dies, she can save up for anotehr car (it doesn't have to be that recent a car) and she can use mass transit, like I do. I can giev her a website with all of RTA's routes and my mother could get her some mace, if she travels at night and needs it.
It is neat that my family has those connections, where anything my mother does to sell off my birthright can be detected. I asked my mother about the books by e-mail and I am awaiting her explanation.
After this whole matter, I wonder if she will even want to see me when I am in New Orleans before I leave for Korea. She is an emotional fool so she may do just that, or throw it in my face if I do see her, plus she and Anne may speak ill of me behind me back as Heather remembered.
Well, at least the week was not a sboring as the last few. I'm the only person to enter a Combat Zone and be bored for 90% of his stay :)
Bud-Clare> <<She wasn't joking. She's evil.>>
I notice. I think she is selling off the books out fo soem hatred for my father that spills out to books his mother wrote (granted $7,000 for 14 books about book binding is a decent sum).
<<Just a windchime, please... :) >>
Duly noted. I'll look for another demented looking cow ro soemthing else that should giev you a godo chuckle on my next trip to Bulgaria.
<<So the question becomes, is Cleveland _really_ that boring?>> It has Patrick Toman and Drew Carey living in sin on a safety pin...I guess that makes Cleveland rock ;)
Mooncat> <<Black spots, pale cream backgrounds, can't tell if they will rosette or not. So plump! So fuzzy! Little faces with eyes closed and baby kitty ears still curled close to their heads.... *mooncat od's on kitten cuteness* waugggh!!!! I'll try to get pics later>> They do sound cute. Gabriel> <<It's for the Gathering. I don't think I would be looking for roomates for my apartment in the CR ;P lol.>> Why not? Well, there is the fact that we are all crazy :) Wilek could room with you, though the dead bodies he stuffs in the closet would start to smell :)
Gside> <<I can't name any body of water that caught fire in Jersey.>> I figured Jersey has more dead bodies floating in rivers than any other state :)
Dezi> <<Stupid public school.>> Even in Catholic school, we pretty much stopped at WWII in World History, but well, it was May. One student aksed our teacher Coach Dornan (all History teachers are Coaches in Catholic school--unofficial rule) about the Cold War. His sarcastic response: we won :)
Of course the kid asking was a smart ass, too.
I think US History went into the Cold War and Vietnam, though, but not to Desert Storm.
<<Be careful of food with a red sauce on it. It makes my mouth burn whenever my step mom makes that stuff and she even tones it down because she says Americans have a taste for bland.>> Well, that depends on the Americans, but that tends to be true. <<Hey, my dad + my step mom = my two little sisters! :)>> Well, I doubt I'll go that route (especially once I'm fixes), but your daddiscovered a nice little secret then.
<<Speaking of which, I'm happy to report that I'm getting many emails from my dad and he is currently doing fine. Many happy faces now: :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)>> On an interesting note about Turkey and yoru dad's time there, the unit I'm currently lent to had a 10 man team covering all the Finance needs in Turkey, so I may not have been helping your dad out, but 106th Finance was (and I'm with them until I leave Kosovo) :)
<< "There is no right or wrong, only _inappropriate_." >> So the Holocaust, the Gulags, the Internment Camps, Japan's treatment of Koreans between the World Wars, slavery, segregation, and the Reign of Terror were only inapprpriate...tis a sad day for Higher Education.
Mooncat> <<Poor Morpheus... That look on his face is like when a child realizes Santa isn't real.>> Or maybe, Neo and Trinity just realized he was Cowboy Curtis on Pee Wee's Playhouse :)
Imzadi> <<Steve Ballmer.>> Who's he? Another 350 lb hippie relic?
<<No, you're confused. Pot is the less dangerous one.>> That's what I meant to say. I sometimes goof up like that.
<<Don't get SARS.>> That would be bad.
<<Transformers!>> Toys or the ones that can allow to plus an American device into a European outlet?
<<My father refers to LAT as a "liberal rag" so often that my little brother started calling it that when teachers mention it in school.>> LOL!! I bet he doesn't find Robert Scheer's column fit for kitty litter.
<<Who? Then again, I suspect that may be the point.>> He ran for President against Nixon in 1972 and lost really badly. Of course, in 1984 the Democrats picked Mondale and got the same treatment. It will be interesting if they do that again this time. Of course, the 2002 Democratic lineup is about as impressive as the 1996 line up of GOP candidates against Bill Clinton, and I don't think Joe Lieberman is as funny as Bob Dole.
<<I was surprised to learn that it wasn't in Detroit.>> I figured the demons would be scared to be in Detroit at night :)
Niamhgold> << No, it isn't, and you actually get a seat (on Amtrak I've had to stand all the four hours to NYC). However, it's *where* the bus station in Baltimore is located--Fayette street, which equals near-death experiences ;)>> That doesn't sound too good, but the bus stop in Memp his is pretty seedy, too.
Bud-Clare> <<I suggested the names of Furies... :P>> I thought those were Norn names.
Lain> <<is ANY city really the *right* one?>> Well, New York City perhaps and even the boonies of Germany I'm stationed at has adequate transit.
Gunjack> <<A long, thin dagger with a triangular blade, designed to deliver nasty stab wounds that are difficult to close.>> And the lackey of Silas Greenback on DangerMouse.
<<Not to brag or anything, but I have the coolest mom in the WHOLE WORLD. Any who disagree will have reason beaten into them with a sack of Brick Bread.>> Well, she's better than mine...but that doesn't say too much.
<<Upon hearing that General Jackson was on his deathbed, two Angels were dispatched from Heaven to guide him to his eternal rest. When they arrived, however, the general was nowhere to be found. They searched high and low to no avail, and returned emptyhanded and dejected... Whereupon they learned that, by means of a brilliant flanking manuever, the General had slipped through the Pearly Gates ahead of them.">> LOL!!! I like that one.
<< didn't much like the first Dirty Harry, and I haven't seen the rest.>> Maybe I can visit you and Lain while I'm in Canada and I'll bring em.
<<I prefer the duo of Way of the Gun and The Usual Suspects. Seen em?>> Keyser Soze erased my memory of the Usual Suspects :)
<<...Niiiiice analysis. 8 ) I feel better informed already>> I try. Plus I'm partial to Mongols and Huns :)
<<What all's up with this New York Times mess? I've missed the news... >> Well, baiscally an intern named Jayson Blair has made stories with made-up sources (as opposed to anonymous ones) and he get caaght doing it. Maybe a simialr scandal will occur with the UK Guardian or Independent :)
Jaden> <<Well, $15.00 gets you a drink for yourself and the drinky-girl and 5-10 minutes of conversation and no change (it's funny to think that anyone reading this will assume that I'm joking, I'm not). Save your money for something more interesting, like one of the BOSS trips.>> You miss ed my joke. It was a Full Metal Jacket reference.
BOSS is da Bomb. I loved the trip to Pisa. A pity I didn't know all that was going on in advance. I'd have told Shadowrider where I was, since Pisa isn't too far away.
Niamhgold> <<And I'll be at Gathering, which is a good thing, since I just realized that next year's is in Montreal and I'd never be able to swing it ;)>> I'll go if airfare from Seoul to Montreal is under 1500. It's not that far from you, even if its full of frogs.
<<for my parent's 25th, my mom got a silver navel piercing>> Now that is just plain odd. That's more for teens to do in their misspent youth, not adults.
<<Gotta find a solution to this, now...happy another crappy weekend! ;)>> I guess it's good I won't need to worry about driving until 2005, since I won't even be authorisex a car in Korea (not that I'd get one anyway).
State inspections...not a bad idea. Of course, I wonder how many cars in Louisiana would pass inspection.....that's good, though. Less psychos on the road.

Oooog, not a good week... caught the flu from my driving teacher, ran low on food, and had my mom nagging my ears off on the phone for some reason...
Not a good week.
Actually, the past two weeks have been kinda... blah.
Anyways, I live, barely enough, but the current heatwave here is getting to my brain... It keeps rewinding almost two years back, to my visit to Ontario... caught myself telling a friend earlier this week that "I'd meet him in the Food Court"... To my knowledge, there ARE no malls in Norway that have a food court. Much less here, some fifty miles from the nearest city... It's all rather unnerving, really.
Oh, well, I'm obviously below par - FAR below par - today. Better sign off for now.
Reports might resume when I'm better. Maybe. Well, probably. To some extent.

DPH -- the reason why they have a school day lasting 3 and a half (or so // I think it varies state to state) hours is because that is the minimum time they can have the school open and have it considered a full school day. They must have 185 school days and they try very VERY hard to have any partial day make the cut. Also if they are going to have a partial day they often make it the minimum necessary to have the day "count." Wouldnt you if you were the principal or whatever making the choice and you wanted to go home? =)

Didn't get to see the movie yet, but I de-stressed today from the car troubles (yes, still no pass on inspection because of these silly new NH laws) by bounding into the Disney store and doing just that--the big sharks and that octopus character Pearl(despite being pink) are the coolest ;)

Yes, my nose has been acting up lately. *stops to sneeze* Damn seasonal allegries.
Today was an . . interesting day. I babysat my nephew today. (He's in middle school) 1st, I was told to be ready to pick him up at school at 10:30am. Then, I was called by my sister-in-law later saying I needed to be ready to pick him at 10am at school because she got a call saying school was being let out earlier. I arrived at the school at 9:30am and proceeded to wait. And wait I did. It turns out that they didn't let him out until 10:30am!! *Feels like ringing the throat of the moron who called my sister-in-law saying school would be out at 10am* The day went fairly well, considering my low expectations. *Notes to self to apply some creativity to get work done*. Next week, I'm also going to babysit him. Thankfully, I do plan to spend a day at the zoo (an hour's drive there because it's in the capital city of Little Rock and an hour's drive back). Hopefully, I'll find some creative ways to get some help with cooking. I'm going to see about making no-bake cookies with my nephew helping. [I really hate making those, but that will serve as a treat for the rest of the week.]
Conclusions: #1) (Ok, I am being logical.) School was only open today to give bus drivers, teachers, and admin personell a day's salary. I mean, what could you really do in 3 hours in a day? Anything worth while could have done yesterday. The school district could have saved a ton of $$$ simply by not having classes for a few hours today. #2) either I am going to bed really early next week [I'm babysitting my nephew next week] or I'm going to be dead-tired by the end of the week. #3)You can't play certain games with a kid who will only play the game for 30 minutes before getting bored. #4)If I wasn't being paid, then I'd go in the hole for money.
Last week, I discovered the bank had cut up my ATM card because it had been returned to them and I hadn't claimed it after 3 days. [I had thought it was lost in my house. The bank didn't bother to tell me they had my card] So I ordered a new one, that was supposed to come in 7-9 days. It's been agrevating doing without it because I have no idea what my bank balance is. [I have a couple of bills that have automatic bank withdrawl: my life insurance and my internet bill. Plus I have a weekly transfer of funds into my checking account.] I use the bank balances to let me now how much money I can afford to spend on groceries plus I have a weekly transfer of funds into my checking account.

Here's another item for the "Weird News" Department. In 2005, a musical version of "The Lord of the Rings" is going to open in London, reportedly with a budget of over 18 million pounds. I hope that the "musical" part will be the songs from the book rather than a lot of "conventional musical-style" songs - if the latter, then I regard its approach with fear and trembling.

Accidently left this out of my last post.
The number also belongs to a church in a small town in North Carolina whose minister is actually named Bruce.

I read something about some old lady in South Carolina who also had that number receiving calls asking for God then hanging up. I don't remember the link at the moment.

Alas I also won't be going to Akon this year... I may end up going to the Florida anime convention instead and maybe Megacon next year.
My mom finally learned how to use Yahoo Voice chat a few nights ago.
So many movies I want to see...Matrix2 Bruce All mighty...I'm still debating bout Finding Nemo though.
I'm sure you all have heard by now that they used an actual phone number to reach God in Bruce Almighty...No 555. One place that has that number is a radio station in Denver...My local station heard it and Doc ((The DJ from NJ)) said if they had that number they would set up an answering machine and play the calls on air. I wonder if somebody accidentally dialed that number trying to reach a pizza place.
And Bob Hope is 100 today

Dead is right. Whatsa matter, is everyone sleeping off the late wipe or sommat? As for me, life sucks.
1. The Skinny Man, one of my oldest friends, and the one I've seen hardly any of since last year, cannot make Akon. This means no Master Roshi, which in turn means no screaming mobs of women chasing us around the Con. This is unfortunate.
2. Due to the rigors of transplanted life (and gross personal negligence), it looks like I'll be failing my first classes EVER. This is quite depressing.
And finally...
3. Humanity is scum. 8 P

Wow, is the room dead.
On the other hand, it could be more like my day. First of all, a crappy doctor's appointment. Then, I went to have the new windshield replaced (and discounted--sadly, my insurance does not host an included deductible for windshield repair), and then rescheduled my inspection for manana.
But, because I'm tipping the "bad" on the cosmic karma scale, the people who installed my windshield massacred my windshield wipers. Now THEY have to be replaced, or I won't pass inspection. Whipppeeeeeee!

My mother has discovered an unusual new hobby: chasing "nuisance" birds (starlings, grackles, sparrows) away from her bird feeders and blue bird houses. She has made this a personal quest since she watched a sparrow "murder" a chickadee that had made a nest in one of her houses (after which she got the b.b. gun out of the closet and spent 30 minutes shooting at sparrows while she calmed down). Since she got these new expensive feeders that make it difficult for squirrels to get at the suet and seed, the number of these "nuisance" birds has increased and the chase away "her" blue birds, "her" woodpeckers, "her" etc... a few times she has thought abuut get ting out the b.b. gun but says she would feel guilty if she only wounded one and it suffered. She's still a wildlife softie. She has joked about training the cat to attack sepecific birds but our cat is a wuss puss and our baycyard wildlife is somehow aware of this.
I'm thinking about driving to the gathering so I can look at nearby graduate schools. Drawbacks to that are the 6 hour drive from Southern VA and New York parking/traffic

Todd - Thanks a bunch for the information. I do recognize the need for me to take World Literature I just to catch up on the myths and legends.
Christine - <sounds like a cool project!> It is for a contest.
Stupid me, I'm putting a version of Trojan horse in the map, and I forgot that my dad's wife has horses. Yesterday, I visited my dad and took mental notes of the horses so I can adjust things appropriately. I'm trying to finish the map this week so I can start putting characters on the map and enjoy testing it.
Next week, I get the fun job of babysitting my nephew. Translation: I'm getting some yard work done and cooking done as well testing my patience. Joy!! But at least it's income for one week.
Niamhgold - <although I know the windshield is his payment responsibility> Well, if he has insurance for the car, it's free. In Arkansas, companies are billing the insurance company for repairing the windshield and the customer pays nothing.
Mutant test - You're looking a certified mutant - 92% on the test.
As usual, I am being abnormal when it comes to cooking, but I was mad Saturday when I couldn't get my food processor to work. Oh well, I shredded the spuds and the mozerella cheese by hand to make my latest creation. Shredded spuds on the bottom. Mix the shredded cheese with eggs very well and spread that on top. (Need just a little more cheese next time) Then I cooked up some rice and mixed that with beef hash and spread that on top. Last by not least, I put pepperonis on top. Then I baked it.
The best part was my brother who doesn't like rice ate some without realizing there was rice in it. I pulled a fast one on him. He says he'll try to get me to eat chocolate without realizing it. Yea right!! It's the taste I can't stand. That's fair warning: Anything I cook could potentially have anything inside.
Even though, I live a measily 4 hours from the A-kon, there's two reasons I'm not going: 1)financially, I can't afford to. 2)I'm not sure my car could make there and back. 3)I could stay for only 4 hours. Literally, I don't like driving after dark except when absolutely necessary.

Hey, all.
Coming home for *any* amount of time is always precarious. I spent the latter half of my weekend fuming at my father, because he wanted to "fix" (aka tweak something that really didn't need any tweaking whatsoever but it was offending his personal taste) the dashboard of my car. Well, he put a rather LARGE crack in my windshield because of it, and, due to the fact that my car needs to be inspected by the end of this month, we have to get it replaced tomorrow and I had to postpone my inspection until Thursday. Which means if there's anything on my car that doesn't pass inspection, I have to have it fixed by Friday. This all happened *before* he paid for my birthday plans and, although I know the windshield is his payment responsibility, I won't ask him to afford both. ::growls::
Otherwise, it's been raining since last Wednesday and I don't think I'm supposed to see the sun until next Tuesday. Which, incidentally, is when I go to Baltimore. So this week is the last full week of me being online, though I'll be available from time to time throughout the summer.
And I'll be at Gathering, which is a good thing, since I just realized that next year's is in Montreal and I'd never be able to swing it ;)

Hi there.
I went to the cinema yesterday to watch Matrix Reloaded, and as I've read a few good comments in here already I thought I'd share a few thoughts with you.
*SPOILER-WARNING*
Overall, the film was good. Didn't have quite the same quality like the first film, but good material nonetheless. And I suspect the trilogy follows the typical rules:
-The first episode sets up the scenery and defines the rules
-The second episode plays with the rules and bends them
-In the third episode - forget all the rules
Now, in that fight between Neo and those bad guys inside the castle (the fight in the room with the huge stairs), the scene where Neo stops a sword with his bare hand kinda reminded me of 'Awakening, Part 1'. Especially with him bleeding afterwards and the reaction of the bad guys: "See, he's just human after all - kill him".
That wasn't the only scene that reminded me for another film - like the (short) moment where Trinity and the Keymaker were in front of that truck on a motorcycle. Somehow I remember a similar scene from Terminator 2.
One more thing: The moment near the end where Neo uses his power in the 'real' world against the machines, I was all of the sudden thinking about an episode of StarTrek - Next Generation named "Ship in a bottle" - the one with Prof. Moriaty (sp?) and the creation of a holodeck INSIDE the holodeck - made me think about a Matrix INSIDE the Matrix - like they never left the Matrix but just encountered another program inside the Matrix. I really don't hope that's true....
*END of Spoilers*
Now I'm really waiting for part 3 - this 'To be concluded' at the end or part 2 is unfair. I never liked the suspence when waiting for the next part of a multi-parter TGS story (and the wait was only one week) and now they're letting me wait a few MONTHS?

Mooncat: Well, I'm already doing my own deck of regular playing cards (not tarot) for the Gathering art show/sale this year. I'm actually just sticking to face-type cards because they're acrylic/marker paintings and are about 3 times the actual size of poker cards, so I'm not thinking about online printability just yet. However, I'll probably print out some repros and metallic-ink them (like the originals) if people are interested in getting some prints for a lesser price ;) Maybe when I get all the kings/queens/jokers scanned (I have 'em done but I'm lazy;)) I'll put a link to them and people can tell me if they would be interested in a print set.
As for tarot cards-methinks you and Lynati would rock at doing something like that. I'm not really into Tarot, sadly--the worst I got were those Final Fantasy triple triad games ;) But knowing Lynati's art and at least your creativity in your writing (I have not seen your art, at least not yet ;)), you two could make some kickass work! :) Are you going to gathering this year?
Gside: <I like how the Pennsylvania hotel still has the 6-5000 phone number, and uses the song as their hold music.> Does that mean you're going, too?

More Card comments... there was a talk about tarot cards and which Gargoyles character would be suited (pun!) to what card a year or so back. Anyone interested in doing decks/cards? I remember someone suggesting fans doing Gargoyles cards, then having the art available online for people to print out and make their own decks.

I like how the Pennsylvania hotel still has the 6-5000 phone number, and uses the song as their hold music.

Wow is it just me or is it warm in California. I forgot what it was like.
Josh<Kill them all> Well alright. It's been so long since I've been able to do something that I can really enjoy.
Gside<Mozilla has a built-in pop up stopper> I've got one too, my fist! ;)
Niamhgold-Yeah I know that Revoluation is next but I was just surprised that it ended when it did.
Green Baron- Well, $15.00 gets you a drink for yourself and the drinky-girl and 5-10 minutes of conversation and no change (it's funny to think that anyone reading this will assume that I'm joking, I'm not). Save your money for something more interesting, like one of the BOSS trips.
Mutant Test- Well it appears that at 71% I'm a Mutant to the Nth degree. Now just have to decide good or evil, hmmmmm.
Later.

Christine: <I just got home from work and I'm going to sleep right through the National Moment of Remembrance.>
There's a National Moment of Remembrance?
Well, whenever it was, I was most likely asleep too.

Happy Memorial Day, folks in the U.S. Must make my apology now -- I just got home from work and I'm going to sleep right through the National Moment of Remembrance.
DPH > sounds like a cool project! Out of curiosity, is it going to be for personal use only, or have you an eye on publication?

*Yawns*
The summer for me has, for the last few years always meant working. Especially right now since all the high school kids are graduating and don't want to work because they are too busy getting drunk and don't want to get fired. At least they were smart enough to request off, but that means lots for me to do.
The room finally wiped and I missed it. :P
Spacie- *smooooch* Start with that. I name a lot of things I have too, be it a silly human tradition or habit. My Car's name is the War Wagon. and I don't think the computer has a name, yet. <<Cuchy!>> I'll have to admit, that is one lucky tentecle monster, getting to sleep next to you ;)
Unfortunatly, I will not be able to go to A-kon (sorry Lain and GJ) My former rommie orginally wanted me to be the Best Man at his wedding, but I had to turn him down on that after be grilled by my mother of all the responsabilities a best man is suppose to take care of. I can't throw him a batchlor party, or make it to any of the rehersals. Oh well, he didn't see that upset, but I'm still goign to the wedding. And ther is Gathering, whcih I've already invested in, and am going to.
Niamhgold- My art list is pretty simple too, one acrylic painting, two linolium prints, and three digital pictures. Hope they all fitt in a 4X4 space. <<Wakka>> BooYA!
Though I'll have to admit I am more of an Auron fan ;)

Imzadi> <<I'm trying to avoid an online presence in favor of my new job>>: Probably a wise idea.
<<Thin it, actually>>: Yes, but it is indispensible when you're trying to clean up.
<<especially for the womens>>: For the women, it's been the style for a while. For men, a good beard was a sign of being of age.

DPH - Here's a brief list of the major combatants in the Trojan War and which sides they were on.
THE ACHAEANS (i.e., the Greeks - they weren't called Greeks yet then).
Agamemnon, King of Mycenae and High King of the Achaeans
Menelaus, King of Sparta, husband to Helen of Troy, Agamemnon's brother
Nestor, King of Pylos, the oldest of the Achaean leaders (who didn't fight but gave advice and told long stories about his adventures when he was younger to an amazingly patient audience)
Achilles, Prince of Phthia, leader of the Myrmidons
Ajax, King of Salamis, the toughest of the Achaeans next to Achilles
Diomedes, King of Argos
Odysseus, King of Ithaca (called Ulysses by the Romans)
Idomeneus, King of Crete
There are more, but these are the most important Achaean leaders
THE TROJANS.
Hector, King Priam's oldest son, most stalwart of the Trojan warriors
Paris, Hector's younger brother, who ran off with Helen and started the war; didn't do much fighting other than archery from a safe distance
Prince Aeneas of Dardania, a cousin of Hector (survived the Trojan War and went to Italy, cf. Virgil's "Aeneid")
Prince Sarpedon of Lycia
You can get more information by reading Homer's "Iliad", one of the best primary sources for the story of the Trojan War, available in a lot of good English translations. But these are the basics.
Incidentally, here's also a brief list of which side the gods were on in the Trojan War.
Zeus (neutral, though leaning slightly towards the Trojans)
Hera (favored the Achaeans because Paris didn't give her the apple in the Judgment of Paris)
Athena (favored the Achaeans for the same reason as Hera)
Poseidon (favored the Achaeans because a past Trojan king had cheated him of his pay after Poseidon built the walls for Troy)
Aphrodite (favored the Trojans because Paris gave her the apple)
Ares (favored the Trojans because he was in love with Aphrodite)
Apollo (favored the Trojans because Agamemnon had insulted a priest of his and threatened him with bodily harm)
Hermes and Hephaestus also favored the Achaeans and Artemis the Trojans, but they didn't do quite as much.

Sorry I have not bee communicating much folks. I have yet to see the new Matrix movie.
I have seen the Buffy Series finally and while I am in the minority I don't care.... I liked it :P!
I also liked the season finally of Smallville.
To me the most disappointing Series finally was the last episode of Seinfeld
My parents are strange. They both now have Yahoo ID's. My mother chats in American Idol and my father in the Yahoo Scifi and Fantasy TV room.
My father and I named his explored. We named it....Riker! Cause according to him It's number one, and if I ever get a car...well I do have a mini list for possible carn names.
Blue Mercury=Ami chan
Purple Saturn=Hotaru
And the possible Neons
Red=Brooklyn
Blue=Demona
Black=Xanatos... I suppose it would be fitting fro me to get a black Neon and name it Xanatos if my father named his white Ford Explorer Riker.
Still have yet to name my computer or scanner but I did name my printer...
Demona!
Mooncat<<<Did you know Suncoast now sells Pocky?>>>Darn well better be Suncoast in Orlando!
Todd<<<"Must you humans name everything? Nothing's real to you until you've named it, given it limits. Does the sky need a name? Does the river?" Sorry, just couldn't resist it>>>yeah lol. We silly humans must name everything. I guess it's better than going 'Hey You' all the time or 'Hey dog,' and 'you stupid machine.' Naming stuff, well we recently named Dad's new explorer, and we name things like our pets, computers and stuffed animals...I finally decided on calling my Cthulu plushie... Cuchy! Pronounced Coo-chie
Niahmgold<<<MiSTing Resident Evil>>>That movie deserves a good MiST... That and Darkness Falls

I'm currently working on building a scenario for an RPG game around the Fall of Troy. Hopefully, I'll be done with the work on the damn horse pretty soon. Since admittedly it's been a few . . *spots stares from people in the shadows* . . several years since I've had a class covering world literature, could anyone point me in the right direction for who was fighting on what side? I remember Odsseus (spelling?) was on the outskirts, but that's about it.
By my estimates, I live probably about 4 hours from the A-kon convention, but I can't afford to travel. Is anyone is travelling close to Arkansas or Memphis on the way there?
Imzadi - <This will probably be my last full post for the summer, as I'm trying to avoid an online presence in favor of my new job.> *plots things to do in Imzadi's absence* <205. All repair work will be done by an in-house maintenance staff. Any alleged "repairmen" who show up at the fortress will be escorted to the dungeon.> Fine, I'll sneak in by pretending to deliver pizza for the guy whose office is in the middle of the building.
Todd - <I've been, for the past couple of days, felt strongly tempted to respond to the "what should I name it?" query with "Must you humans name everything? Nothing's real to you until you've named it, given it limits. Does the sky need a name? Does the river?"> Hehe. That's the way I started with not naming my cats until a really dominant personality trait showed up.
Speaking of that, I'm going to buy some film and take a picture of one of my cats to declare her my mascot: my Hunter.
