Current Episode
Played another concert today. A nice and windy one outside, this time. At least he went at a better pace for Sgt. Pepper.
Imzadi> <<Is that better than the apathy party?>>: It's more fun, at least. Fourth of July every day.
<<Or rather, we'll put some american in her>>: That's already been done.
<<Why would you want one?>>: It can't hurt.
<<Homeland security itself is a bit scary>>: I was thinking about it, and homeland sounds a bit too much like the Russian and German Fatherland and Motherland for my tastes.
<<You keep thinking about that>>: Don't worry, you can be sure I will. Do you want to be my first test case?
<<All they need is a good deep !@#$ing>>: I invite you to Douglas to attempt to enact that plan on them.
<<With TK I can have pyro>>: Only if you have very fine control, or a reserve of flamable material and violently exothermic reatants.
Lynati> <<Oh, but its magic poo!>>: But that's what everyone says. I don't know why I keep believing them.

SPACEBABIE - [I like how Mary is helping around the shop]
Incidentally, I'm not sure just how clear it is in the story, but the woman whom she was waiting on was (in my mind, at least) the customer who shows up at the Mystic shop in "M.I.A." and explains to the man on the run from the three thugs about Leo and Una's "eccentricities".
GRAYMONK - Thanks for your review, and I'm sorry to hear about your loss of home access to the Internet. I hope that it changes soon.

***WARNING! SPOILERS FOR ROME ETERNAL ***
Before I begin, I should mention that I've recently moved into a new home with no internet access. This combined with my renewed classes means I have a great deal less time to spend on the internet. As a result my reviews will probably be a lot later in coming and not as indepth as they used to be. I'm still going to keep at them as long as I have enoguh time to spare, fourtunately my new school is failry generous with access to the computer labs.
"Rome Eternal" - Cute pun Ed. Unfortunately I was disappointed with this episode. After the body swap (which I have no problems with, Banshee probably made her Molly form as corporial as possible to escape detection) the story seemed to become nothing more than a disjointed sequence of chase scenes followed by an action sequence. There didn't seem to be any sort of unified theme (like in "Choices" or "Home for the Holidays") and little point to the story other than to establish that Banshee and Rory were still in contact with each other. Speaking of Molly, I agree with Voshokda that her return seemed rather abrupt. We haven't seen her at all this season and "Ride the Wild Wind" seemed to imply that she and Rory haven't seen much of each other since "Dark Passions." More clarification of her relationship with Arthur & company would be nice.
I was also confused about the spirit, what was it, we're told that it is somehow realted to the third race but given no specifics.
However I think my biggest dissapointment may have been the fault of my own expectations. When I saw the title and then saw Lucius awakening the spirit I got my hopes up that this episode might turn Lucius into a credible threat again. This season has been very good to Pendragon's villiains. Morgana's relationship with Nigel has added an interesting new twist on her interactions with Merlin and helped distinguish her from Jon and Demona. Duval has become a pitiable and unpreditable ally/antagonist. "home For the Holidays" planted the seeds of an upcoming persoanl conflict with Darien Montrose that should prove interesting considering he knows where the London clan lives. Lucius always had some entertaining bufoonish qualities but during the SUW he also had a sense of majesty and a menacing quality thanks to his speeches about the coming of the dark lord and sins of the light. Without Madoc he's all bufoon. I was hoping this story would rectify that, instead he seemed to sink to near Gargamel levels of bufoonery (sorry I'm pressed for time and couldn't think of a better word).
That being said this episode did have its good points. The Leba/Molly conflict is always welcome, as is Leba's predjudice against the third race. It never occured to me before but it makes perfect sense considering her encounters with the Unsilee, especially what they did her friends who were transformed into Vampyres. Arthur's interatction with the spirit was a riot. Ed provided a wonderful description of what it would be like to be trapped in that stone that had me feeling sorry for Molly and the spirit. The scene where the Minions reunite did manage to create a sense of ominous horror, although it was quickly lost during the fight scene. Its nice to know that although Banshee may have called a truce with Cuchulain she's still not a cudlely and firendly fae. finally, although I was disappointed the spirit didn't form an alliance with Lucius, I did find the twist where he dumps Lucius highly amusing.
Hopefully a review of Godslayer will come soon, although I will say that I enjoyed part one immensely.

Niamhgold : [One reason is because MICA is hosting the "Raw, Boiled, and Cooked" comics exhibition, and I'm heading the content (aka writing) group.]
Spiff!! When is it up? I wanna see.
[And we get to meet with Art Spiegelmann and Will Eisner. Score again!]
ooo, lucky! I wanna meet art spiegelmann. If I had the spine, I’d look him up when I visit New York.
Fire Storm: [All CR images and colors are free for anyone to use (with the sole exception of TGS CR Administrator pic)]
I know. But I can request he not use it. Free speech and all. I just can’t do anything about it if he decides to ignore me. *shrug*
Bud-Clare : [Don't worry about it. I'm used to it. :)] Heh, I commiserate. You would think with a name as feminine as mine that I wouldn’t be mistaken for a male entity, but its happened to me a handful of times. : P
[I don't think that "birthday poo" is a good way to get birthday wishes.]
Oh, but its magic poo! It lessens one’s chances for getting warts, gingivitis, and carpal tunnel. And it smells like lilacs. I wouldn’t throw just any old crap around the CR ; )
Siofra: Hey, long time, no see!
[Haven't been around much lately, the last year was absolute insanity with school stuff/crappy roommates/no internet at home. Plus a ton of other stuff that was going on with school/work/etc.]
eep! I was wondering what happened to you; you vanished from IM as well as the comment room. Glad to hear it wasn’t something life-damaging.
[Hope things are going well for you, how's school going? ]
They are, and school is shaping up well; getting to do gargoyle characters as the focus for my studio is too much for words.
[I myself decided this past year decided on a bit of a career change, and so far its work out beautifully.]
Oh? What are you up to now?
Ravyn: [Wow, long time no see! ;) This place hasn't changed too much, to be honest ...]
Welcome back! And you know what they say- the more things change, the more they stay the same…
And a big “thank you” to Gside, Kathy, Siofra, Bud-Clare, Greg B, Dezi, Josh, Ed, and DPH for the birthday wishes. : )

TGS Spoilers
A few quick comments about "Godslayer"
I like how Mary is helping around the shop
I have been waiting for the Nimue/Merlin meeting and I'm glad it finally ahppened.
I just got a kick out of the hissing cloaked guys using swords and "Jedi Mind" tricks and when they recieved their informatione whips out a cell phone. I thought the woma they were calling was Morganna...Isfet is a pleasant surprise.
Small Question is there any connection between the Godslayer and the Bleeding Spear?

IMZADI - Two points. First, this episode was the first part of a two-parter, not a complete story in itself.
Second, nobody had gotten around to converting iron ore into tools prior to Balinos's day. In fact, it's been speculated among historians (although I don't know how widely accepted it is) that the first iron to be forged into tools and weapons was meteoric iron (which was believed to be magical because it had fallen from the sky), and that digging up iron ore and making use of it came along later.

Totally anti-productive today: cleaning my room. The dust bunnies in my computer were so large they'd become sentient. I imagine it'll run much quieter now that the vents are unblocked.
***TGS COMMENTS***
Interesting story, but too short. Didn't really go anywhere. And what's the deal with only "alien" iron being able to undo the gods? What is this, kryptonite? Has no one noticed regular iron yet? It seemed to work on everyone else.
***END COMMENTS***
Fire Storm: <<I need an excuse to spend $4.50 on a coffee>>: Bah.
<<high explosives party>>: Is that better than the apathy party?
<<What about Bob?>>: He blew up.
<<We'll get that Canadian out of you some how>>: Or rather, we'll put some american in her! ;-)
<<You'll need people like me in your government to scare the citizens into believing that only YOU can keep them safe from people like me>>: No, that's what Carrot Top is for.
<<anyone know where I can get a quick BA in CompSci?>>: Why would you want one?
Niamhgold: <<Someone's been watching Red vs. Blue>>: And getting the DVD.
<<Not cooler than being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster>>: I disagree.
Ravyn: <<This place hasn't changed too much, to be honest>>: Sorry.
<<my summer in Rochester, NY was soooo completely AWESOME>>: Tell us more.
<<the hiring situation is a little tough still>>: I feel your pain. I'm hoping Apple will get off their ass.
<<if I can't find a good job, then it's off to grad school for me!>>: Ah yes, the former josh plan.
<<How's grad school?>>: Easy so far.
<<some of these new laws they want to pass in the name of Homeland Security are a tad bit scary>>: Homeland security itself is a bit scary. And they run entirely on windows. Doesn't sound very secure to me.
<<generally good people>>: As long as you aren't a jew.
<<I will never understand using PMS as an excuse for bad behavior or nasty comments>>: Women don't like to admit to being bitches, and they think that they will be automatically forgiven for "hormone imbalances". Unfortunately, some of us refuse to accept that people aren't responsible for their own behavior.
<<what cool gossip did I miss in the months I've been gone?>>: I was out of the CR most of the summer as well.
Lain: <<because "i just wasn't the person she thought i was when we moved in">>: Don't you have any sort of renters rights over there? Down here, you cannot be evicted without good cause.
<<shes not getting a DIME off us>>: Unfortunately, she already has your money, so you'll have to sue to get it back.
Todd: <<nobody's given any feedback>>: I glossed over it. Sorry.
DPH: <<I might as well post incohorent ramblings for the amusement of others>>: You assume we're amused by you.
<<I know I have a response to that statement, I'm just trying to think of it>>: You don't have to have a response for every rule.
<<How do you plan on ensuring agents from plan A and plan B don't get in each other's way?>>: By not hiring idiots and not making conflicting plans, such as simultaneously trying to freeze and incinerate the hero.
<<despite my best efforts, it's nearly impossible for me to sit still while somebody else attempts to remove a splinter from me>>: Geez, you really are a coward.
<<Do companies prefer a "Jack of All Trades" or a "Master of One"?>>: That would depend on what they're hiring for.
Gside: <<you'd just have to be very careful taking out the skull, then very quick to get the first hit in before any shift in weight damages nerves>>: You keep thinking about that.
<<because they don't get any practice>>: All they need is a good deep !@#$ing.
<<I'd suggest trying slightly north and east if you want TK. For pyro, you'd want to get right next to the refineries>>: With TK I can have pyro.
<<He had enough proplems without having to be a Unix text editor>>: HAHAH yeah.
Which brings us to the last evil overlord rule.

Imzadi> <<I know, it doesn't seem physically possible>>: No, you'd just have to be very careful taking out the skull, then very quick to get the first hit in before any shift in weight damages nerves.
<<Only in the middle east>>: No, pretty much anywhere you can get away with it. Which is essentially the middle east right now. But there's also a bunch of stuff going on in Africa.
<<Yes it does, while conditions are true. To break out of it, violate the conditions>>: Eh, it's just my way of thinking about it. A while cannot break out in the middle of an iteration, so I associate it more witht he continuance of the looping.
<<Did he get better?>>: Thankfully, no. We like him having the newt better than the porcupine. Now he just laughs, insead of the incessant screaming.
<<Punny>>: Didn't even think of it that way.
<<They're just bad at it>>: Right, because they don't get any practice.
<<I've always wanted TK>>: Then come on down. I'd suggest trying slightly north and east if you want TK. For pyro, you'd want to get right next to the refineries.
Fire Storm> <<Ah, high explosives party>>: Every country should have one.
<<Hey, do you think they will ever release that here?>>: Too old of a game to release a peripheral just for it.
<<What about Bob?>>: He had enough proplems without having to be a Unix text editor.
<<anyone know where I can get a quick BA in CompSci? (A paper-only degree is fine by me.)>>: Sorry, I worked for mine.
Ravyn> <<What's up with all of you lately?>>: Trying to find a job.

What the heck. I might as well post incohorent ramblings for the amusement of others.
1st, normally I'm not a sports fan, but for the potential annoyance of Revel, the Razorbacks beat the Long Horns.
Graymonk - You're going to enjoy Godslayer Part 2.
Lain - buena suerte, mi amiga, buena suerte.
Imzadi - <Forget 9-11. All it does is remind us of how the government has taken over our lives in the last two years.> Hehe. I disagree because it serves as a reminder of how long I've been seeing a chiropractor.
Imzadi - <230. I will not procrastinate regarding any ritual granting immortality.> I know I have a response to that statement, I'm just trying to think of it. <229. If I have several diabolical schemes to destroy the hero, I will set all of them in motion at once rather than wait for them to
fail and launch them successively.> Umm. How do you plan on ensuring agents from plan A and plan B don't get in each other's way?
<that is if they don't have any staff problems> Sorry, that currently is the case. < if they have already started on the planning and writing of Bad Guys, Dark Ages and Gargoyles> Work is being done on Bad Guys and Gargoyles. If you want to see Dark Ages continue, we really need more help. <I really hope they change their minds about making season 5 the last season> A couple of good points: Timedancer covers a span of 40 years of Brooklyn's life. Most of that time has already passed. There isn't that many years of timedancing left before Brooklyn returns home. Do that math for yourself and estimate how many years you think Brooklyn has left for Timedancing. Some of the previous seasons have covered 10 years of Brooklyn's timedancing years.
Gside - <It gives you an understanding what can be
done, and what is faster to do.> Hmm. Yea, it has been interesting in helping me understand how some stuff works (like how that 1 is the result of the logical operation of 5 and 3)
Lain - <o i went to look at the website of some
"hobby lobby" contraption that exists in various places in the US of A.> Hehe. My mom loved crafts a lot. I have a Christmas tree full of *homemade* decorations.
Stephen - <Actually he's been in a half-way house receiving follow-up care, but the troubles didn't end there for us: someone, either a staffer or a patient, STOLE a pair of my grandfather's pajamas and his hearing aid!> It doesn't suprise me. Literally, watches and lose jewelry belonging to a patient often times disappear in a hospital.
Happy belated birthday Lynati!!
Spacebabie - <I celebrated Patriot day by not watching anything, going to classes, and donating blood.> Sadly, I'm a bit too weak in the stomach and have too many involuntary reactions to be able to donate blood. (despite my best efforts, it's nearly impossible for me to sit still while somebody else attempts to remove a splinter from me.) <Ah yes toon disney the only place where terrorist is a cuss word.> City of Stone part 1 sounds . . interesting with the change in words.
Kathy - <Lots of little things going on lately. I finally, after probably ten years of thinking about it, bought myself a Kitchen Aid mixer - top of the line with all the bells and whistles including the sausage making attachements. Now my husband is eyeing everything in the meat dept with an eye to what I can grind up and stuff into casings!> Hehe. I have a better equiped kitchen than either my sister-in-law or my dad's wife . . all thanks to my mom's love of cooking.
Bud-Clare - <Do it anyway. Do you really want to be afraid of heights for the rest of your life?> It doesn't bother me until I look out the window. <But then you don't learn any language in any depth.> Do companies prefer a "Jack of All Trades" or a "Master of One"?

Wolf: Oh good.
Lynati: Belated Happy Birthday. Light on the poo flinging for me please, I've been told to cut right back.
Sean: 'Timedancer' season 5 isn't being developed at the moment. I guess it will start about the same time we're wrapping up 'Gargoyles' season 4, which will probably be about the time we start releasing it. But that's just a guess. Either way, I'm afraid it's a couple of years off. If you're having withdrawal symptoms, I suggest you check out 'Pendragon'. (Really.)
Graymonk: Can't wait to read your latest reviews. :)
Vash: As usual, thanks for the review. Regarding Kevin... well it isn't as though cabbies have fixed office hours. Kevin can just work another day to make up for the very occasional ones he misses. But apart from some errands in "Out of the Frying Pan" (set in the quiet period between Christmas and New Year anyway) and now again in "The Godslayer" it isn't as though he's been in high demand from the knights I'd have thought.
Mandi: Welcome back from Ireland!
Spacebabie: Generally with Lucius it's more fun to play up the comedy than the scariness (we already have some pretty scary villains). But as always with these kind of villains, one of these days they might just surprise you...
Lain: Sorry to hear about that. :(
Todd: I'm also a bit surprised that "The Godslayer" isn't receiving more attention. I hope people will be interested in Part Two, which has (advertising opportunity!) more twists, turns and masked characters than an average episode of 'Scooby Doo'...

alright, people. its on now.
for those of you who know the current situation.. or part of it.. or whatever.. here comes the whole damn f*(^ing thing:
we moved out of our old apartment a few months ago, because a) it was incredibly expensive and b) it was highly likely that the reason it was so expensive was because we were paying for some of out landladys electricity and/or water.
new place. new landlady. inky dinky little apartment.. a little cramped, but cosy. a few weeks later, my cats mysteriously start scratching themselves a lot. turns out they have fleas. they have never had fleas before in their little lives (save for charlie, when he was a teensy kitten.. and we all know about the FLEABATH OF DEATH which resulted in his.. shall we say.. slightly more dimwitted outlook on life..) so they have fleas. so i start taking the appropriate action with washing them, spraying, etc. few weeks later, the landlady comes along and says "there is a flea problem in the house". she, naturally, assumes that the fleas have come from me, since "they have never had a flea problem before in the building". a little after that, she starts complaining about the "garbage" in the back yard, which consisted of beer cans and other ickies that were not proporly disposed of, and other garbage which had been put out in only little white garbage bags, not little bags inside of a large liner. now, we all know what a TERRIBLE drinking problem i have.. :P but, of course "this sort of thing never happened before YOU moved in.." so, i get blamed for that too. i guess that because i cleaned it up out of the goodness of my heart just made me look MORE guilty or something..
a little after that, she phoned me up and asked if i would mind very much starting to look for a new place, because "i just wasn't the person she thought i was when we moved in". since she had been delivering, on average, 7 phonecalls a day to my answering maching (which we have been subsequently avoiding picking up because we dont want to deal with her), i said "fuck yes, well be out by the end of the month." UNFORTUNAELY, when she called us with this pearl of wisdom, it was AFTER i had given her the months rent for september (meaning that she is in posession of my "last month" deposit, and septembers rent, AND a 100 dollar "cat deposit" - in case the cats scratch up the place or something. so, we wrote up an agreement stating that she would give me back my last month rent deposit AND the cat deposit when we moved out, providing there was "no evidence of fleas at the time they vacate, or upon inspection by the landlord" (quoting from said agreement).
so she, of course, is coming to fumigate next tuesday. (even though I am not moving out until the end of the month) - and when she says "fumigate" she means THE ENTIRE HOUSE.
so i called her up, and said "i hope youre not planning on using our money for this, since the agreement we have is that you inspect "WHEN WE LEAVE""
and she says, and i quote.. "oh, definately!"
so. she is trying to rob us. not to mention the fact that we had a lovely chat with the guy who lives in the basement apartment here, and he was complaining about the insect infestation in HIS apartment (centepides, fleas and the like) and it was, coincidentally, THE DAY AFTER that conversation that she announced her plans to exterminate. HMMMM.. I might not be a rocket scientist but.. something smells kind-of fishy...
so yeah, thats about it. one thing for sure, though... shes not getting a DIME off us...

Howdy, all!
Wow, long time no see! ;) This place hasn't changed too much, to be honest ...
But anyway, I'm back and I'm well into my final year of undergraduate work, wahoo!!!! The only thing was that I kinda jumped into working too darn hard, and nearly had to take time off due to exhaustion this week ... I know, I know, it makes me sound like a wimp, but ... yeah. I'm much better now, though, just after slowing things down a bit. :) I'm excited to be nearly finished with all my classes, though! Yay! The only thing now is to figure out what to do when I graduate ... which is really going to have me turning into a spaz. ;)
Anyhoo, my summer in Rochester, NY was soooo completely AWESOME. I wish I could stay there and work with those folks *forever* ... but we'll see how things work out. I had a great time, and I hope I can either find a job there or somewhere like that, even though the hiring situation is a little tough still ... because if I can't find a good job, then it's off to grad school for me! ;) This is one of those crazy times in life where I need to figure out where I'm headed, and it'll drive me crazy if I start thinking about it too much ... so I'll just try to do my best, and have a few plans in mind, and then see where life takes me. :)
As for where else life is taking me ... well, things are pretty darn good in the relationship department too ... I won't go into too many details here, but ... things are *finally* working out, and it's fantastic!! :) **huggles Coyote** :)
Well, I basically just wanted to drop by and say hi, and let you know I'm still alive out here somewhere! :) Feel free to drop me a line sometime by e-mail if you wanna talk sometime! I'd love to catch up with all of you. :)
Andrea> Congratulations on entering college life! Sorry it's been rough for ya so far. I understand the annoying roommates thing, though ... I lived with a total weirdo this summer! Just hang in there, and know that eventually it *does* get better ... my freshman year was pretty crummy at times, mostly because of just having to adjust to the stress and the lifestyles and all. But it will get better soon! :) In the meantime, just find someone to rant to when ya get ticked off ... like you have in here. ;)
FS> Long time no see! How's LM doing? Please say hi to her for me! :) <<anyone know where I can get a quick BA in CompSci?>> There's gotta be some online degree mill somewhere ... ;)
Josh> How's grad school? :) <<Forget 9-11. All it does is remind us of how the government has taken over our lives in the last two years>> Unfortunately, I think I sort of agree with you ... I mean, it's coming down to where you can't even say the word "terrorist" in TV shows anymore, and some of these new laws they want to pass in the name of Homeland Security are a tad bit scary ...
Niamhgold> <<I've been getting a lot of dizzy spells lately>> Ack! Try to relax as much as you can! I hope you get through those soon. Dizzy spells suck. :)
Stephen> Congrats on getting to read some of your work at the con! That's really neat. :) Let us know how it goes! Great work on Avalon Mists too, by the way. :)
GB> Hiyas!
lain> Polyester yarn stuff ...? Ooookay ... :) At a fabric store, they should have all types of yarn, and hopefully a kind you're used to ... if that was the question? I really don't know ... especially since I haven't worked with yarn in a while ... :) Good luck with your move to Texas, BTW! I've always liked Texas, it's a beautiful part of the country, and generally good people. :)
And just a random comment I shouldn't make, but maybe I will never understand using PMS as an excuse for bad behavior or nasty comments ... ;)
So what cool gossip did I miss in the months I've been gone? What's up with all of you lately? :) Hope to hear from ya! Later! :)

Spacebabie: <Like you need that excuse to drink coffee?>
Very true. BUT I need an excuse to spend $4.50 on a coffee (triple (or quad) venti white chocolate (sometimes with raspberry) mocha)
Gside: < In some contexts, that counts as a vote.>
"What party are you voting for"
*BOOM*
"Ah, high explosives party"
<And then you'll really be on your way to driving everyone out of the country.>
That doesn't make it any less of a country
<But as we learned from the Rez example, there's much to be gained by dynamic allocation of vibration.>
Too true. Hey, do you think they will ever release that here?
< What about ed?>
What about Bob?
lain: <when i say "move" i mean.. to *texas*,>
Ah ha! We'll get that Canadian out of you some how, and Texas is the best way to do that!
Imzadi: <Interesting.>
Well, I try to be. You'll need people like me in your government to scare the citizens into believing that only YOU can keep them safe from people like me.
<Unless F-15's were flying between buildings, I don't think the gargoyles would have much to worry about.>
Well, the gargoyles do fly above the buildings, and they do have to come down from over a quarter of a mile up, so you know they would have appeared on RADAR.

I'm really tired, but fairly busy as I've just picked up a bunch of new homework assignments and gotten toys in the last few days. Amazon shipped me a CD jewel case for Less Than Jake's "Greased", but neglected to enclose the CD. Also got SG-1 season 4 and a really nice trench coat.
Forget 9-11. All it does is remind us of how the government has taken over our lives in the last two years. How they've trampled the constitution in the name of terrorism and how corporations have been able to get the upper hand over citizens by associating things they don't like with terrorism. How the world hates us because we're a bunch of arrogant assholes.
I forgot about the TGS episode this week. My bad.
Niamhgold: <<an animator who works for Comedy Central>>: Sweet.
<<I've been getting a lot of dizzy spells lately>>: That's bad.
<<I'm heading the content (aka writing) group>>: Senior year is only the easiest if you make it that way. If you tack on extra work, you're a schmuck ;-)
<<three weeks>>: I am so jealous.
<<They'll eat your brains AND your manhood!>>: Kinky.
<<Ivanny sometimes mows on candy bars he finds under the sofa>>: Poor kid.
<<There's a reason he only dates the international students>>: They smell funny too?
<<Gets me out of doing dishes>>: Don't bet on it.
<<it doesn't work that often, now, huh?>>: Depends on the person.
<<could there be an atheist philosopher?>>: You mean like Nietzsche?
Vash: <<it's been almost a week now that I've been expecting a delivery of homemade cookies!>>: You might want to have something perishable rushed.
Andrea: <<since my parents are the ones PAYING for my college education (pretty much in full), I think it's best that I at least try to respect their wishes>>: Irrelevant. Its YOUR college experience, not theirs.
<<I just wanted a single more>>: Nevermind then.
Lynati: <<can you use a different picture to post with?>>: technically, they aren't yours. Though if someone tried to use my image/color combo, I'd rip their skull out and beat them to death with it. I know, it doesn't seem physically possible.
<<flings pieces of birthday poo at people>>: Happy birthday!
Fire Storm: <<CHAIRS! CARS! ANNOYING STATUES! NOTHING IS SAFE!>>: Interesting.
<<seeing a group of large slow flying objects who do not reply to radio hails>>: Unless F-15's were flying between buildings, I don't think the gargoyles would have much to worry about.
Bud Clare: <<Never heard of it>>: Okay so you've knocked an OS based on two word processors that you don't like and weren't even aware that others were available. See what happens when we let women have opinions!
<<Do you really want to be afraid of heights for the rest of your life?>>: He's a coward. Climbing the stairs won't change that.
<<Forgotten, because it's not on a Monday>>: See July 4, Xmas.
<<I think little enough like a stereotypical woman as to make it useless.>>: The sentiment is appreciated, though.
<<Not total, you ninny>>: We're having a communications failure here. To clarify: you said that most of the courses were taught in VC++, then said that "most" was 4. I was confused because 4/16 doesn't sound like "most".
<<then you don't learn any language in any depth>>: That depends on the scope of the class. If its project-based, you can definitely learn the language in depth. If it's exam based...well let's just say Immersion programs beat a spring break in Barcelona.
<<Do you have the faintest idea what I was talking about?>>: As if it matters.
Gside: <<In some contexts, that counts as a vote>>: Only in the middle east.
<<Something that defaults to saving to plain ascii without any formatting commands>>: We've got those too. Though the GUI-based text editor defaults to RTF.
<<While sets up a loop>>: Yes it does, while conditions are true. To break out of it, violate the conditions.
<<one has gerbils and a newt>>: Did he get better?
<<That beats me>>: Punny.
<<Just try and catch one of them eating a manhood>>: Why'd the feminist cross the road. TO $@## MY @!## !!!
<<It's a sign of degredation>>: They're just bad at it.
<<If you drink enough of the water, you can do just about anything>>: I've always wanted TK.
<<I think they stand well enough on their own>>: Heh heh.
Kathy: <<Now my husband is eyeing everything in the meat dept with an eye to what I can grind up and stuff into casings>>: The dog?
<<That seems to be a more fitting tribute>>: A fitting tribute would be "hug a firefighter/EMT/cop day", for the people who risked/gave their lives to help those in the WTC. I think the tribute for this tragedy is directed at the wrong people. The real heroes aren't the ones who die needlessly.
Siofra: Welcome back. Single yet?
Spacebabie: <<As long as he doesn’t cramp his wrist>>: I have supports.
<<What about Ravage or Rumble?>>: No word.
<<Oh how will I survive?>>: In suspense, like I said.
<<you don’t just get graded for showing up and talking>>: Close enough.
<<Switch Heather with Revel and you got a deal.>>: Either way, I'm going to wretch.
<<You know Giside and Josh will have something to say about that>>: It didn't need to be said.
<<Bow before her or I’ll give you pain>>: You've been threatening that for a year now, and I'm still here.
Green Baron: <<I have oen thought>>: If you don't start using a spell checker or at least start paying more attention to your posts, I am going to rip out your skull and beat you to death with it (I know, that's the second time in this post that I've used that, but it rocks)!
Lain: <<none of you even know what im talking about.. do you..?>>: I'm just going to smile and nod.

Happy Birthday Lynati.
Lain: I'll vouch for Hobby Lobby. I've worked there for a year. It's a good place. I can't speak for all managers, but mine is the best I've ever had. Their policies are like they are (obviously) corporate, but not too corporate with all the stupid redundant policies. It's a good company, they are nice to me. Being in school and all, I can take days whenever I want, and basically am free to tell my boss _when_ I can work. I'm technically a cashier, but at my interview, told my boss I hate cashiering, but since my first job was Wal*Hell all employers since thought I'd make a *wonderful* cashier. Now, I'm technically still a cashier, but I'm allowed off the registers as often as possible (unpacking stock and helping in other departments, I even work in fabric sometimes). The only thing I don't know how to do is framing. And I really like it cause there's no quotas in sales, and they really don't push you to sell people stuff they don't need (one place I worked at wanted me to convince people they needed $300 telescopes). You get a 15% discount, and you get to know when stuff goes on sale in advance(usually 1/3 or 1/2 off +discount). It's just a good place. I recommend it. As long as your manager's not a dick, you'll be set. Texas, on the other hand, is another matter entirely ;). Good Luck!

<<Never heard of it>>: ""ed is the standard text editor." Line taken from original the Unix manual page on ed, an ancient line-oriented editor that is by now used only by a few Real Programmers, and even then only for batch operations. The original line is sometimes uttered near the beginning of an emacs vs. vi holy war on Usenet, with the (vain) hope to quench the discussion before it really takes off. Often followed by a standard text describing the many virtues of ed (such as the small memory footprint on a Timex Sinclair, and the consistent (because nearly non-existent) user interface)."

<<The further north you go, the more used to it they get, the faster they are on the plows, the less likely you'll get any time off.>> While that may be true, icy roads are VERY hard to clear. Classes on my home Campus might not be cancelled, but I have classes at another campus as well, so if the busses aren't running due to weather, I can't get to those classes, even if professor can make it there.
And we might have trouble getting to class on home campus too, if it's icy. The walk to the main hall is uphill and pretty steep the entire way (on the way back down, you find youself running so you don't fall flat on your face due to gravity and the steepness).
It's not really a "reason" I came here (though at the time I wrote that, it was the first type of word to come to mind), but just more of a little perk. That and the fact there are practically no classes on Friday...
I finally have a TV, fridge, and a Microwave now. Now I don't have to spend all my meal bucks at the snack bar to eat (the cafe has odd hours, I can't eat lunch there, since all my classes are at their lunchtime, and Im usually not hungry for dinner until after 7, when they close...). Suprized my mom didn't go all "Mom" on me (like making my bed, etc). Maybe she didn't want to embarass me in front of the other kids (though I did see some other adults at lunch with other kids, so I presume other parents came. Staff does eat in the cafe, but usually sit with other staff).

Greetings all...
First, I'm not dead (someone sent me an email asking where the heck I've been lately), just been struggling with work and other r/l concerns.
Second, My grandfather finally got to come home from the hospital this week, follwoing his gall bladder surgery (and the requisite buggling the nursing staff did over his medication). Actually he's been in a half-way house receiving follow-up care, but the troubles didn't end there for us: someone, either a staffer or a patient, STOLE a pair of my grandfather's pajamas and his hearing aid! (snarls!) Well, we got the pajamas back, but the hearing aid never showed up, so the PR manager has assured my mother they will buy him a new one... wonderful state the modern medical system is, eh?
Oh, wanted to send out thanks to everyone that has read and made comments on the first new issue of Avalon Mists. Was a bit longer than expected, but my staff and I are pleased to see the results have been well recieved by the fans.
Of course, we can't make this work without you... so if you have fanfics, art, poetry, or know of an article that you've written that will make for good reading, SUBMIT to us! We're looking for good stuff to share with the fans, and the deadline for subs is October 15th! Send them now!
Also, something of a personal note, I recently received word from the con-staff of NEcronomiCon 2003... I've been slated to do a reading of my novella "Sin City Walker" at this year's convention! YEAH! Something that can get my original writing seen! Will have more details to come before too long. ^_^
Well, that's all from me for now... Maintain and Check Six!

Hello everyone,
Remembering Sept. 11th> I think how it will be remembered will depend on how soon the society can get closure. Meaning if they ever catch Bin Laden. Outside of that the Patriot's day spirit will get cooped by 4th of July and Memorial Day. Bottom line, America doesn't like to be reminded of how vulnerable it is. For examples I'd point out the Oklahoma City bombing barely registeres a passing blip. And if it wasn't for NPR I'd have never know this was the tenth anniversary of the first WTC bombing.
It's good to hear that some are doing something positive out of this. I think I'll look into what can be done around here.
See ya on the morrow or the next.

Hey everyone!
Haven't been around much lately, the last year was absolute insanity with school stuff/crappy roommates/no internet at home. Plus a ton of other stuff that was going on with school/work/etc.
I've lurked around a bit in the past week, and thought I'd pop in and say hello!
One comment in particular was the Athiest Artist one.
We're out there, and there are more than you'd think.
And there's nothing wrong with us or the engineers. I was almost both :)
Happy Birthday Lynati!!
Hope things are going well for you, how's school going?
I myself decided this past year decided on a bit of a career change, and so far its work out beautifully.
Headed out to get stuff done, namely my job.

Gee, John Ritter and Johnny Cash - I wonder who celebrity death number three is going to be?
Happy Birthday, Lynati!
Mandolin > Did you have a good time in Ireland?
Lots of little things going on lately. I finally, after probably ten years of thinking about it, bought myself a Kitchen Aid mixer - top of the line with all the bells and whistles including the sausage making attachements. Now my husband is eyeing everything in the meat dept with an eye to what I can grind up and stuff into casings!
I'm actually, nearly all set to go, I found I could buy casings from a local market instead of mail ordering them, but the stuffing horn hasn't arrived yet, although it is in transit. So sometime next week it's chicken and apple sausage and salmon sausage and at some point after that duck.
Other farm news - I don't have to beat on my local post office. Yesterday I received 25 new chickens (little ones) ten potential new laying hens and 15 cornish cross pullets for holiday game hens in perfect condition. Yay!
Hey, it keeps me busy.
And have I mentioned lately, or at all, how despite all the idiot script kiddies I love the internet? Sunday night I tracked down a copy of the original novel "42nd Street" a book that despite character names has very little in common with the travesty that is parked on Broadway and probably still touring.
The movie is one of my favorites of all time because it manages to be frothy and silly, but underneath you get impressions of much darker doings that were kept in the shadows due to standards and practice censors. The novel by Bradford Ropes has been out of print for decades. I never thought I'd get to read it because the only two copies I know of are in the Library of Congress. But I did a rare books search and viola, I found a single copy for sale. Neat.
College - I was indifferent to the dorms at Cal Poly. They were built off the plans, it was rumoured for a state prison and had all the charm of a down at the heels Holiday Inn. Still, they were nicer than the Sheep Unit where I lived and worked for a time. You didn't have to chase black widow spiders out of the shower. As for the roommate thing and professors who just hand out assignments and expect you to figure out the material on your own, it's part of the process. Among other things you ought to learn in college is problem solving and thinking on your feet.
September 11th. Around here the various groups that are into memorializing things are bemoaning that it has already slipped from memory. But you know - yes it was a tragedy, but it was (geographically speaking) someone elses tragedy. It's unreasonable to expect people not directly connected to continue to actively grieve for years. I do like the tack that other groups have taken turning into a "Do Something" Day, - donate a day to volunteer, give blood, make a difference. That seems to be a more fitting tribute.

Fire Storm> <<I WANNA BLOW $h!7 UP!>>: In some contexts, that counts as a vote.
<<Now, I just have to find SJ to help clone you...>>: And then you'll really be on your way to driving everyone out of the country.
<<Hell, out of all the times I was in fights, NO ONE was suspended, given detention, or ANYTHING>>: My father's at a pirvate school for rich kids, so they can probably afford to. Especially since I don't believe they get a chance to exercise it often.
<<Na. To make money!>>: And it'll probably impress the Lady, too.
<<But I just can't understand on why they do what they do. I mean... vibration? Why?>>: To further the cause of entropy.
<<A basic microprocessor in it could store vibration patterns, randomize them, whatever>>: But as we learned from the Rez example, there's much to be gained by dynamic allocation of vibration.
<<In quite a few years, will 9/11 be a holiday like Memorial Day (parades, military fly-overs, people totally forgetting what it was once about) or will it be more like Pearl Harbor day (generally forgotten)?>>: Pearl Harbor. It's the most similar. Memorial Day is no longer about one specific event, so that there always will be people directly affected.
Imzadi> <<We've got Word over here, which I assume is what you're referring to>>: When I think text editor, I think of something much more basic than Word. Something that defaults to saving to plain ascii without any formatting commands.
<<I resent that remark>>: You'd use my immense power if you would find a safe way to harness it.
<<No, that's what WHILE statements are for>>: No, no. While sets up a loop. To break out of it explicitly, you need a Break. Continue's only to skip a bit off this iteration.
<<No, that's what WHILE statements are for>>: Especially when you're trying to find a new brime, break RSA, etc.
<<That's kind of scary>>: I know, and I keep dropping complete instructions off here and there.
<<Wow, thanks. That explains a lot>>: If you want more, just search for the jargon file.
<<Two words: toggle switch>>: For the not so lonely, they may ask for dynamic interation with their other.
Niamhgold> <<Do tell>>: It was called Gadsby, and written at MIT.
<<Just ask the video department for their archive>>: Shame he never went, then.
<<Your weird friend who smells like cheese and thinks he hears hamsters in his head>>: I've got five of those. No, wait, one has gerbils and a newt.
<<At the party, some guys got sick of holding it and stuffed it in the back of their pants. THOSE pictures are hilarious>>: I can imagine. Are you sure none of them stuffed it down the front?
<<According to the video (yes, VIDEO) footage, three weeks>>: Seven a day. That beats me.
<<So where's the part about teaching people good hygiene?>>: This was from a while back, so it hadn't been written yet.
<<They'll eat your brains AND your manhood!>>: No, they'll only destroy my manhood. Just try and catch one of them eating a manhood. It's a sign of degredation.
<<And, could there be an atheist philosopher?>>: Easily.
Andrea> <<In fact, one reason (though a very minor one) I picked this school was because of that...SNOW DAYS!>>: Bad idea. The further north you go, the more used to it they get, the faster they are on the plows, the less likely you'll get any time off. My mother (from west central NH) had never heard of a snow day until she came down to Jersey.

Give it two generations. It won't be totally forgotten, anymore than pearl harbor has been, but obviously it won't mean as much to future generations as it does to the people who are alive now.

Lynati: <And please can you use a different picture to post with? ariana and sailor ariana are my usual images. Thank you>
All CR images and colors are free for anyone to use (with the sole exception of TGS CR Administrator pic)
While many posters do have favorite colors and/or pics, having those as your preference does not mean that you exclusively have rights to use that pic.
As far as color/pic combinations, the same rules apply, but it is not recommended that multiple posters use the same combination (mostly due to confusion.)
BTW, while Urameshi did use the picture 'Ariana,' he/she did not also use the same color that you have posted with.
Gunjack: <I've heard this idea several times since I joined the staff a few years ago. And you know what? I simply can't see the point.>
I wrote a thesis-type fic some time ago (must post it some day), and the main point of it was that people use fanfic as a form of escapism, and by making 9/11 part of the stories it would bring that all too real event right into the universe that we know and love.
ALSO, what could the gargoyles possibly do? If they were to show up at Ground Zero, the Quarrymen would probally react like "SEE? They are returning to the scene of the crime!".
Plus, how the hell would they get there? NYC (in fact, the whole US) was a no-fly zone with shoot-to-kill orders in the days after 9/11. Imagine being a F-15 pilot flying over NYC on the evening of 9/11 and seeing a group of large slow flying objects who do not reply to radio hails. Is this a glider attack? Are they going to drop bombs? Chemical weapons? Biological weapons?
Do you want to take that chance? RADAR lock. Fire when ready.
F$&* it. It's posted in the GFW.

Niamhgold> <<I've been getting a lot of dizzy spells lately, and I blame stress. Easiest? *blinkblinkblink* What, did they pre-empt out of lots of classes early on? (Then again, I am the twit who decided to overlap an elective with another elective graduate class that I took for undergrad credit and took part in "Pride and Prejudice" that same semester, so maybe I'm not a baseline example.) Seriously, though, don't be like me senior year. Take it easy, okay? :)

Hmmmm. I was watching City of Stone on Toon Disney and noticed a weird edit. It was at the beginning when Goliath and Co. stop a group of bad guys holding hostages, Brendan, Margo, and the Weird Sisters, in kid form. They told Goliath that if he is not careful, he will end up like her, and he motioned to the leader of the bad guys and said "I will never be like this/" It just kinda cut real fast to the sisters and one said "We were not talking about this/" and it cut again. I have downloaded all the eps and are saved on cd, so I popped that one in to see what the so bad so bad word was. Heh. It was terrorist.
That's all, really. Like, I knew about Deadly Force, but I didn't know they edited out words.

Urameshi><<In reply to your S11 question, you bet it will. It'll be remembered as the day that changed America.>> I couldn't agree more. As a matter of fact, if things continue the way they're going, it'll be remembered as the beginning of the end.
<<Also, here's an idea for the TGS staff: Try writing a Gargoyles story commemorating S11! I was gonna write one, but it'll have to wait.>>
I've heard this idea several times since I joined the staff a few years ago. And you know what? I simply can't see the point. I watched the planes crash and the towers fall on TV. I watched the 24-hour coverage on CNN, I read the newspapers, and I listened to the speeches from the President and his officials. One of my professors worked PR for the Red Cross at the Ground Zero cleanup, and he told us how it went down first-hand. I saw the celebrity tributes, the op-ed pieces, the blog editorials, and even a few lively discussions in this very room.
What exactly would we say that hasn't already been said a hundred times by everyone from Goerge Will to Noam Chomsky to the producers of ER? Would it really be anything more than a pair of gargoyle wings tacked on to a regurgitation of everything said since September the Twelfth, 2001?
For me, at least, the issue of 9/11 has been COVERED. We've been there and done that, and I for one think it's time to move on. Yes, it's possibly the single most important sociopolitical event since the fall of the Berlin Wall... But frankly, anyone who hasn't already internalized the realities and lessons of this event has either been living under a rock for the last two years, or else just gets off on the emotional aftershocks.

I'm prepared for that. And Boston is boring...been there WAY too many times (though the Museum of Science is cool, haven't been there in a few years). My home is about 30 minutes North of Boston, and about 10 minutes from the NH border (to Plastow). So, I've had my share of winters. I guess it might be a teeny bit colder with a little more snow, but I know how to handle myself in Winter. In fact, one reason (though a very minor one) I picked this school was because of that...SNOW DAYS! No school year could ever be complete without them (Every school year I've had at least 1, one year we had like 20, we only got 1 vacation after x-mas instead of the usual 2, and got out June 30th). I guess I take snow for granted though...I have a pen pal in Australia that is about my age and he's NEVER seen snow in real life.
One things that sucks about my Java lab, you need to print stuff out. Now, I can't do that in class sicne I have no money on my school card (it costs like 4 cents a copy, and your school account login is connected to your card). I'm not putting any money on it except to so laundry, since I have a perfectly good printer hooked up to the computer in my room. It's a good thing the book comes with a disc with the program we're using.

Niamhgold - I'm actually at the Univeristy of Southern Maine. I'm at the Gorham campus, but I do have 2 classes at the Portland campus (they have a bus that leaves each campus every 45 minutes). I haven't been around Portland, but I have been to the Maine Mall twice (last weekend, and a few months ago when I first visited the school). I probably have been to Portland a few times when I was younger (I have distant relatives up here), but I can't recall a specific instance where the point of a trip was to go into Portland. I do know parking is horrendus in Portand though. The school is building a parking garage as we speak, which sould be completed this winter (not that it concerns me, since I don't drive, and even so, have no need for a car on campus).

Unfortunatley, the most talked about day, I have most of my classes. Meaning I have to listen to people having the SAME discussions about it all day. (I'm sure you all are aware of what I'm reffering to).
Last night, I was talking to someone I know know online who doesn't live far from me. I was telling hiom about how I was going to college in Maine. And he immediatley knew which school I was at...it was freaky. Turns out he vacations not far from here.
Josh - <<I know I always base important decisions on what my parents want, as they surely know exactly what's best for me given that they've never been in a similar environment/situation. Everyone here does, right?!>> You have a valid point there. However, since my parents are the ones PAYING for my college education (pretty much in full), I think it's best that I at least try to respect their wishes. And it's not as if I didn't WANT a double (the doubles in this hall are HUGE, and the biggest on campus. Even when there were 3 of us it wasn't uncomfortable), I just wanted a single more. Depending on how this year goes, next year I'll probably get a double. I would have gotten one when I moved had they not been on such crappy floors.
My neighbors are nice, they have offered to let me use theur microwave and fridge until my parents bring me them this weekend. And the RA on my floor is hot too.

Score! I managed to land a mentor, an animator who works for Comedy Central and is pitching a new show. This should be fun; plus, he's a contact in the area where I do want to work after graduation. Yay.
I've been getting a lot of dizzy spells lately, and I blame stress. I was told from all of my fellow students last year that senior year was easiest, but within the first week I've had too much to do. One reason is because MICA is hosting the "Raw, Boiled, and Cooked" comics exhibition, and I'm heading the content (aka writing) group. While it's cool that this exhibition will travel and that the catalog with our work in it will go along, it's a lot to get done. If anyone's interested, it was the same show that was up in the Yerba Buena center in San Fran, and exhibits the works of Art Spiegelmann, Dave Cooper, Peter Kuper, Linda Barry, Chris Ware etc. And we get to meet with Art Spiegelmann and Will Eisner. Score again!

VASHKODA - Thanks for your review of "The Godslayer Part One" (I was starting to fear that this episode would go ignored). I'm a bit puzzled, though, about your mention of legendary cities in connection to the Godslayer - I don't recall that element in the story at all, unless you're referring to it being made in Atlantis, and Atlantis wasn't a city but an island or small continent.

I *hate* UPS. The bastards said they'd show up between 2 and 5, and instead showed up before 2, during the ONE hour that no one was in the apartment. I can't sit around my apartment all day and wait for them to show up, the least they could do is show up when they say they're going to. Tomorrow is the "3rd and final attempt", which means if they don't show up tomorrow then I'll miss the package completely. I hate them all. At least FedEx has a local office at which I can pick up packages on the SAME day. With UPS I have to tell them to hold it, then wait an additional day before picking it up.

TGS: tG> (spoilers) Not much to say about this one (it was surprisingly short). I would have thought Nimue would have shown a little more surprise/interest/compassion for Merlin when it was first mentioned he was mortally poisoned. I also thought that it was a little silly to bring Merlin along when he's so weak. After all, they had Nimue along to help in the magical department--Merlin wasn't necessary (though I understand why Todd wanted to use the ocassion to show the two working together. Still, it didn't feel right). As for Kevin, does he drive around anyone other than Arthur for a living? How does he make any money? And I didn't think it was all that wise an approach to tell the collector that his newly acquired artifact is not only expensive and cool-looking, but also a really powerful weapon. Somehow, that doesn't seem like great incentive to give it up. I liked the story about the spear, though, and the legendary cities it mentions. The bit about forging it out of a meteor made me think of the sword Minneyar/Memory (or was it Thorn?) from Tad William's series.

My best guess is that it will be released around 2006 and 2007 and that is if they don't have any staff problems and if they have already started on the planning and writing of Bad Guys, Dark Ages and Gargoyles proper though I really hope they change their minds about making season 5 the last season since they still have Harthoth, Apep and Nicholas to deal with which will be taking a lot of the episodes and the remaining decade of Brooklyn's journey including the twins growing up and the quartet acquiring Nudnik.

thanks anyways!>> Well, you can find the earlier seasons in the Timedancer episode archive which is accessable on the main page. For information about Greg Weisman's original plans for Timedancer (like his names for Brooklyn's mate and kids, potential enemies, that sort of thing) click my name, if the link is working it should take you to the Ask Greg Archive. Scroll down to the Timedancer archive and you should find scads of info. Although if you're going to ask Greg a question make sure you read through ALL the archives, including the big orginal archive and the FAQ. Repeat questions are a pet peeve of the fandom.
I don't know anything about Season 5 being the last season but Timedancer recently wrapped up Season 4. IIR the staff annoucements correctly either Bad Guys or Dark Ages will be the next Series to be released, followed by Gargoyles. I wouldn't expect TD season 5 for another year at the earliest.

Josh: <Why? Wouldn't ones that aren't tethered to USB ports better?>
Yeah... wireless networking or Bluetooth WOULD be better, but an USB or power over network would be good for a backup.
<The first one might work. The second is a definite no>
Aww... why not? ;)
The first one would probably suck too. "Dark Grey" in this room is 7F7F7F, so 333333 would be a LOT darker.
<However, you are not allowed to give those copies to other people. That doesn't bother me much.>
Me neither. I don't share.

I am guessing Microsoft engineers.
<Someone needs to. You feeling the need to impress the Lady?>
Na. To make money!
But I just can't understand on why they do what they do. I mean... vibration? Why?
<Depends on how much customization you want to the vibrating patterns>
That's why it should wirelessly access the computer or some other device. A basic microprocessor in it could store vibration patterns, randomize them, whatever.
I wonder if I would legally be able to call it the iBrator...

Fire Storm> <<Now, we just have to make you easy to copy>>: Every bit of me has instructions for making more of me.
<<They gave out of school suspensions more>>: Makes no sense. At may father's school, that was the first resort. They even used his office for it when he had one.
<<Amazingly, the building falls>>: I guess the residents made a few too many changes. Or is it just ivy?
<<I WILL MAKE AN iBrator!>>: Someone needs to. You feeling the need to impress the Lady?
Lila> <<Why is it that the moment I lurk, I see the same old repeating issue?>>: Because it's the same old repeating issue. We are still in The September that Never Ended. "All time since September 1993. One of the seasonal rhythms of the Usenet used to be the annual September influx of clueless newbies who, lacking any sense of netiquette, made a general nuisance of themselves. This coincided with people starting college, getting their first internet accounts, and plunging in without bothering to learn what was acceptable. These relatively small drafts of newbies could be assimilated within a few months. But in September 1993, AOL users became able to post to Usenet, nearly overwhelming the old-timers' capacity to acculturate them; to those who nostalgically recall the period before hand, this triggered an inexorable decline in the quality of discussions on newsgroups."
Imzadi> <<*I'D* flee the country>>: You essentially have already, being on the opposite coast.
<<Not for long>>: No, but would we really want to hear it?
<<Wouldn't ones that aren't tethered to USB ports better?>>: Depends on how much customization you want to the vibrating patterns.
Bud Clare> <<I have terrible, terrible nightmares sometimes>>: Ah, to have such a profound effecton people.
<<So would you even notice one more or less, especially if that one was only a slight variation of one of the others?>>: Not too much. Though I would hope a school taught course would use a more generic language.
<<We could use Gside to drive annoying people out of the country>>: Bride of Evil Laugh.
DPH> <<how does knowing how the computer works on the inside benefit me?>>: It gives you an understanding what can be done, and what is faster to do.

**WARNING: INCOMING RANT #1**
Here's the headline: Sept. 11 Suits Vs Airlines Get Go-Ahead. Apparantly families are having to choose between suing companies vs getting money from the 9-11 Victims fund. Ok, this sounds stupid. Last time I had heard, in the 9-11 victims fund, there was more than enough money to make each the family of a 9-11 victim millionaires. So why sue the airline company, the jet maker, and others including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and World Trade Center Properties? It's about 1 word: **G-R-E-E-D**.
**END RANT #1**
**WARNING: INCOMING RANT#2**
Damn elevator is not working in the one building where all my classes are. Most of you will say "So what that an elevator is down?" My response. I have a fear of heights. Looking down scares me. I have a right to keep my phobias to myself. Climbing to the 3rd story . . just leaves me nervous.
**END RANT #2**
Ok, I think I understand why students skip classes. TO help their fellow students. By not attending class, an extra parking spot is made available for a fellow student. Now, seriously, that what I was told would improve the parking cituation on campus.
For those of you interested, I finally gathered the guts to go visit the mental health section stuff for students. I hope to regain some sanity back. As for my treatment, it's NOYDB.
Say hello to one of my kittens. This little fellow decided to crawl through a hole in the window screen. No, Rev Attillia, I don't think you should be interested in him. *stops to take the kitten outside*
I am rapidly remembering how much work Principles of Accounting I gives. And it is starting to overwhelm me. In my computer archecture and programming class, it's getting hard to understand because lots of theory is being discussed. When I get to apply the stuff, hopefully it'll start making more sense. Ok, seriously, how does knowing how the computer works on the inside benefit me?
*stops to take kitten outside AGAIN*

Bud-Clare> <<If I have to suffer, so does everyone else. F*cking unix...>>
Unix...eh, I knew very little of it until I got OS X, now it's not so bad. My understanding of Linux beats DOS. I'm just glad to see the CS profs are starting recognize OS X more often when lecturing because it's a Unix.

I certainly hope with the new-found time I've got back, I can finish one or two. I've still got dozens of clips on my computer here, just no final ideas of what to make of them. Maybe I should just try throwing a bunch together and see what comes from it.
Between that and wanting to finish a Mac port of the Giants Map Manager (utility to play customized maps for the Mac version of the game, Giants), I'll see what I can do now.
Fire Storm> <<I already do. GOTO school. GOTO work. GOTO home.>>
GOTO statements are used best for breaking out of the natural loop of things. Example:
FOR days_jim_is_bored_or_stressed = start_of_semester TO end_of_semester
days = days + 1
IF days = 7 THEN
GOTO have_a_beer
NEXT days
For the record though (in case anyone's wondering), I don't drink that often. :)

All moved in! Took the RD and I about 45 minutes, and my roommate and her boyfriend helped me a bit. It's pretty small in comparrison, but once I get some bed risers, I can put stuff underneath and have some more room.
I know the 24 hour quiet floor would be a nice place to study. However, it's NOT going to be a very social floor, which is what my parents want. Plus I study better whith noise in the background...complete silence pisses me off.

It's a two-year school, Josh. How many courses were you expecting?
<<Yes. But a school that teaches "all major courses" in VC++ doesn't have quite the same multi-talented programmers now, does it?>>
Of course they aren't going to learn too many languages in a two-year school. And how is teaching the courses in VC++ significantly different from teaching them in C++? I don't even _remember_ switching from VC++ to C++. I didn't show up for class or read the textbook when I "learned" C++, and yet I still aced the tests. Exactly how much of a difference do you think there is between the two?
<<Now they're a VC++ programmer.>>
And you're a ninny.
<<All the more reason to hunt feminists.>>
But hunting implies that they are AWAY, and you're trying to find them... I'd think that letting them stay AWAY would be safest. AWAY is good... so good that it gets weird capitalization.
<<I managed to become people without it.>>
Yes, but a people who is arrogant enough to... oh, nevermind. What's the point?
<<*I'D* flee the country.>>
This gives me an idea... We could use Gside to drive annoying people out of the country. Maybe even... the president?
<<Wouldn't ones that aren't tethered to USB ports better?>>
I don't know... If it were wireless, it might get weird interference... (Weird things happen with wireless things here. I think the problem with the phones might be because the houses are too close together, but the fact that my computer sometimes picks up strange sounds from vehicles driving by...)

Why is it that the moment I lurk, I see the same old repeating issue? A word (several, rather) of advice for everyone: Ignore "Dark" in all (his/her/its) various handles. The spelling and personality are distinctive, just don't respond. They're not worth the miniscule percentage of a calorie you spend writing scathing responses. You know, I should probably wait for Dark to make a new comment before making remarks again, but then I thought, if I make this strike pre-emptive, maybe she won't come back!
Okay, Dark, you pop up here griping at Ed, then return after only two other people have posted, yelling insults at the room for beleiving some "rumors", when not only has no one brought up any rumors, they had not responded to you AT ALL.
What, did you think we were staying quiet because we'd heard these "rumors" and thought poorly of you?
Were we supposed to rise up and demand, "Why Ed, is what this young gentleman says true? Did indeed the clan of the Steel Claw ban him from their presence? Whyever so? He/She seems like such an articulate, learned, caring, and sensible soul! We demand that such an outrage be addressed, and that right quick!"
...
If it isn't clear yet, we had never heard of you, nor any rumors pretaining to you. But yaye! Now there will be!Rumors of your childishness shall now be spread far and wide! You've successfully started what you seem to want so desperately. now go away! yaye!

Hillsdale. Fairly large college, quite conservative.
<I don't know, sometimes I feel like a CD. I'm just too cheap now>
Now, we just have to make you easy to copy...
<But will they be able to provide for the same price as schools try to get now (to make sure everyone can afford it).>
THAT's why there is still cafeteria food! For the kids who can afford it, they get better tasting food!
<Never understood out of school suspensions. Now making them come to school anyway and stay in one small room for the entire day...>
In school suspension. We had them at my school, but not many people were in it. They gave out of school suspensions more.
<Just one rogue robot wouldn't be able to trick up into doing it ourselves (the most efficient way), without some more influence behind it.>

<Have you ever seen the article about the PS2 accessory sold with the game Rez in Japan?>
Yeah, and I am convinced I can make something like that out of a force feedback controller. I WILL MAKE AN iBrator!
Imzadi: <Don't let the feminazis get you down stand up for your right to have a penis>
Hell no! Me, I am the type that if I am in a class like that, I will TRY to piss them off.
<Something less eye-burning. Darker backgrounds with lighter text>
000000 background, 333333 text? 00FF00 background, FF00FF (blink) text?
<Not everyone wants digital-only music. I, for one, am annoyed with the concept of "licensing" the user to listen to their own music>
I think that once you buy it, you can make as many copies for yourself as you want.
<Make it not suck. See Japan. Also, I WILL fail anyone who doesn't pass, thereby making a high school diploma actually worth having.>
That alone is a good reason to have you as supreme leader... THAT, and your football comments.
<Also, outlaw football. Join the rest of the world and play soccer, damn it.>
Only reason I didn't say that is that there are people who like football but can't grasp the idea of soccer. Remember: Sports are needed to pacify the masses.

Dark::"ED: I know you are of the steelclaw clan. Why did you guys ban me? I did NOTHING! I've never done anything to hurt this fandom! "<BR>
Have you done anything to help this fandom, Sir? Not a mean comment, I've just been out of the loop for a while after my run as Vice Con Chair to this gathering, and I still have a ton to do, including writing that five thousand dollar check to pay off a credit bill for the Gathering's fees.
Dark::"On 2ed thought. I'm not going to risk getting hurt more by some immacher, descrimatory people. You guys should know better then to just take someone at there word, that other are bad. Eseshally if your in hight school! I'm ashamed of all of you! "<BR>

Refusal to get hurt by immature, discrimatory people is a good idea... so why are you still here? And I agree, I like to put all formal contracts in writing and then have a notary public go over it.
What's hight school, by the way, is that where Invaders go to become taller?
Dark::"Not everything that shines in gold, and not every thing that is gold, shines." That means, people light be a bad apple who just pertend to be good.
Things don't shine in melted gold? Hmm, Lynati you better learn how to do goldsmithing soon so we can test that theory.
Oh, I misunderstood, should have continued reading.. so people lights are apples pretening to be gold? I am confused, I knew I should have put more points into my Wisdom score.
Dark:: "And others tht a labbled as bad by others, (Such as myself) are rather, very good, a loyle people."
What's a loyle? A subspecies of human, perhaps? That would explain alot. I've never been labbled, is that fun? As for people labeled as bad.. heh, how many of us are already misfits? Hands, people, please.
Dark::" but no, this fandom, just doesn't deserve my loylety and friendship and that."
I certainly have done nothing to deserve dealing with you, that's very true.
Dark::" For some vey plain reasons. I almost wish the show was never invented!"
Damn that original troup of players who started the entertainment field.
Dark::" Or that , atleast theis fandom, would have way better people in it. *Shakes head.* You guys hut me. Alot."
Ah, my mission is completed. The Ben Gay is by the door. Take the tube.
Dark::" But, no one cares how others feel cuz they them selvres are bullies!"
Bullies? Really? Must be a vicious cycle that continues. I blame the kid who told me I was ugly in kindergarten.
Dark::" you know."
All too well, I've dealt with melodrama before.
Dark::" I only wish this had turned out better for me, and others that are getting harrassed by this fandom, just cuz of some diffrences."
How altruistic that you care for the other people we harrass, you know, in keeping with the show's theme of tolerance.
" NOT OF THOSE RUMERS WERE TRUE! Not metter to what exten t they went to."
So.. you're saying they're just the tiniest bit true then? (I have no clue what these rumours are. I'm assuming "rumers" are rumours.
Dark::"If you children won't listn to me, and be more better and kind to otehrs in the future, when will you lern? "
Considering I'm twenty-two and there are more than a few of us into our mid-twenties.. probably never. Lessons are more easily learned when you are young.
When will you learn how to spell?
Dark::"Lucky for me, a few good thing did come out of this for me. I almost wish I could see yur faces, when to tables are turned, and you guys are the ones that get blamed for things you never once did, and roumers spread about you that arn't true. When will you ever learn? "
A few good thing? So just one.. but several times? Hmm. And you've missed out several opportunities for such "table turning". Too bad, you could check the archives, I'm sure there must be something there.
Dark to Bud-Clare: ""No I'm most certenly not! i'm just a person who is trying to get out my feelings about how this fandom, and SOME PEOPLE in it treated me for about a year, when I wasjust trying to enjoy my self and have fun. But they messed it up! Sides, thats not nice to say. I'm just tryng to really get out how I feel. is that anyway to treat a person?"
Everyone has feelings, that does not entitle you to believe your feelings are so godly important. And, if you were really trying to unburden yourself, you should have spoken directly and named names, otherwise poor innocents will feel bad thinking they somehow offended you! Oh, no.. then they'd have to get out their feelings and the cycle would continue. And me without the fabric softener!
Dark::"O ya. No one once, went to me to find out if either of those roumers were true. You guys just beleaved them like a bunch of blind sheep! Atleast I for one, would have seen both sides of the coin, insted of just one! "
Perhaps they just don't care about you. I know I don't. And can you bereturn after beleaving? Do blind sheep do that often? I'm curious.
Nice night, everyone.

::Dark's post run through a spell-check (no grammar check)::
On 2nd thought. I'm not going to risk getting hurt more by some immature, discriminatory people. You guys should know better then to just take someone at there word, that other are bad. Especially if your in high school! I'm ashamed of all of you!
"Not everything that shines is gold, and not every thing that is gold, shines." That means, people light be a bad apple who just pretend to be good. And others that a labeled as bad by others, (Such as myself) are rather, very good, a loyal people. but no, this fandom, just doesn't deserve my loyalty and friendship and that. For some very plain reasons. I almost wish the show was never invented! Or that, at least this fandom, would have way better people in it. *Shakes head.* You guys hut me. A lot. But, no one cares how others feel cuz they themselves are bullies! You know. I only wish this had turned out better for me, and others that are getting harassed by this fandom, just cuz of some differences. NOT OF THOSE RUMORS WERE TRUE! Not matter to what extent they went to.
If you children won't listn to me, and be more better and kind to others in the future, when will you lern? Lucky for me, a few good thing did come out of this for me. Siryn: I *definitely* love the look of the new site. Now If I can get my act together and make something...::looks at schoolwork schedule::...uh, maybe in the issue following ;)
I watched the "Blue Duck" episode of Dilbert again last night, and had to tape it for my roomies. They appreciated its deconstruction of the art world and now vow to watch the remainder of the series ;)

Good news! I move out tonite! I was going to get a double (like my parents wanted, even though I wanted a single), but the only few that were available were on special interest floors, and the only one that wasn't was on a 24 quiet hours floor (which sucks, because you can't really DO anything). I explained the situation to the RD (about how I wanted a single, parents wanted double to meet others, etc), and we decided that a single would be slightly better, and he smuggled me in on a floor that is pretty social, and it's RA tends to try and plan group things for the floor now and then (plus he's friends with my current RA, and that will help me adjust a little). So it's a good compromise. My parent's aren't thrilled (I just got off the phone with my mom), but when I explained about the "adnormal" doubles, she seemed somewhat okay with it(since they'd rather see me somewhat comfortable, even if I don't have as much social contact).
In a way, I kinda wish I wasn't moving out so soon though. I think we were all bitchy last week, since it was a new experience for all of us, and needed adjusting to campus life. They seem pretty nice now, although I wouldn't find myself hanging out with them often (I'm more of a quiet type, and they are the party type). I would have been nice to get to know them a little better, now that we're not on each other's hit lists...
I move in like 3 hours, so I'd better get my stuff together and ready to ship to the other tower (my building is made of 2 tall wooden towers...named Dickey and Wood. They are named after 2 different women, but it would have been better to name two seperate buldings after them. We're not sure if the reference was just a coincidence, or someone was in a sexual mood the day they came up with it). My roommates (and one's boyfriend) are going to help me, and them I'm helping them re-arrange their room afterward.
I'll probably post again tonite, when I'm all moved in.

*** TGS Comments/Spoilers ***
Emambu: Interesting comments on “Rome Eternal”. You’re right that the real conflict is between Molly and the spirit here, but Lucius is important to draw Arthur into it. It isn’t just that he’s an established villain, but his quest to bring back a system of order dictated by legend is similar to Arthur’s. Lucius, in a way, is chasing his own Holy Grail.
Vash: The Grail/emerald connection is based on research, and I’m told the lar is (although I didn’t look into that myself). I’m delighted that you noticed and enjoyed the humour in this story. My best guess about the soul-swap is that their consciousnesses were swapped but nothing corporeal. At that stage, Molly was corporeal. As for Lucius being able to find the exact location, perhaps he cross-referenced reports pertaining the disappearance of the spirit with evidence from his own magical studies.
Wolf: ‘Timedancer’ isn’t in breakdowns now. ‘Gargoyles’ still is and ‘Dark Ages’ would be if anyone had actually volunteered to help out with it.
Lynati: Well on the edits thing, I would have thought that we need all the help that we can get, really.
***End TGS stuff***
Dark: *sigh* The reason is, Dark, that you spend most of your time ranting, moaning and making vague threats intended at the very people you’re trying to befriend. When your sympathy tactics invariably fail, you either change your name and start over or go to a different board. It makes you seen immature and deceitful since you could easily mend your ways. One example: your spelling is bad and your posts often don’t make a lot of sense. There might be good reasons for this – maybe you’re very young, don’t have English as a native language, or have learning difficulties. But then you refuse to run your work through a spellchecker when asked (a quick and effective solution) and go on to deny that your spelling is difficult to read. This makes me believe that you’re a rude and self-centred person. Nobody has told me this. I’ve come to the conclusion based on your posts in this comment room and the SteelClaw one. I suspect I'm right because several others have independently come to the same conclusion. Of course, it takes character and maturity to admit you’re wrong or that you’ve behaved badly and then to own up to it and fix the problem...

Hi. Just read the latest chapters of Pendragon, and they just keep getting better. Also...
A message to the staff of TGS:
Currently, due to my craziness for Brooklyn, and the quality of the Gargoyles fanfics, AND my talent, I'm currently willing to continue the TimeDancer saga. Sure, due to school, my updates may be slooooow (that is, IF I'm hired.), but I can write about TimeDancer. But there are two problems:
1- I can't draw.
2- I'm currently in high school, eleventh grade.
But my talent more than compensates. You may see my fanfics (not about Gargoyles, but some examples.) on this URL: http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=361452 I once started to write a Gargoyles fic, but I didn't like it, it was branded as the worst fic in TGS, and I simply disposed of it. But I've done a vast improvement since then, and I want to prove it. And YES, I USED to be Edi, but I've changed a lot, and now I have a new attitude. Well, that's it for me. Any comments may be sent to wolf_urameshi@myway.com OR wolf_urameshi@hotmail.com OR brooklyn2040@yahoo.com

My image from earlier is wrong...I think I hit the wrong key on the keyboard when selecting from that menu...my bad!
Somwhat good news. The "Rules" about rooms have changed...we all got letters from the Resdident Director explaining about room breakdowns, and it turns out, the 2 week room freeze only really applies to those who want a room change but aren't in forced triples. It's possible we'll get the "official" proposal to split up sometime this week, but I'm not holding my breath. We have to wait for my other roommate to come back to disuss it, but I don't think we need too...I'm the oddball, and I want out anyway. And I have a chance at a single too! But I'm not sure, singles are pretty small, our room now it made for 2, but we can fit somewhat confotably here (but then again, we have a little extra space behind the door that other doubles on our floor don't have, but our desks hog that space anyway!). Maybe when I get an "official" proposal, I can ask who my potential roommie would be (but I only have 24 hours after I get the notice to say if I want to move out or no).
Which would you guys go for (for curiosity's sake), the slighly more expensive but private single, or the more roomier double?

<Dang, I missed it> Dennis Miller is in town the Sunday before Thanksgiving...can't find anyone who'll commit going with me, though, so I'm putting off buying tickets ;)
<No more runny nose, no more coughing up lung grease> Congrats, and speedy healing.
<Since you don’t blog that means you…> Having an RSI is problematic because it prevents doing a lot of either.
Emambu: Hey there, welcome back, for however so brief. What are you up to this year?
Jim: <Thing is, I knew nothing specific about Flash several months ago other than it made neat, flashy (no pun intended) advertisements and animated web jokes.> Yeah, and that's the *bad* use for it. Well, some of the bad use. It can be used for advertisements, but not in such an evasive manner. And for sites like Homestarrunner.com, where you know from the beginning that all will be in Flash, then it's okay.
<Actionscript got to me pretty quickly since it's base syntax is similiar to that of Javascript.> Very easy to pick up that way. Livemotion utilizes it, as well, but not as powerfully.
<Preloaders and interface elements interaction, etc. Flash is an amazing program> Cool! I'm usually on the designing end, creating the art in Flash, doing some hand-tweening and effects elements, then go back through to debug everything. That's for my non-web work (instead, I output to CD or VHS); for the web work, it's more a procedure like the one you described. I'm not as efficient at the coding part, though ;)
<It's there, but I definitely need to get back to making something out of it again (and I will), it's mostly web storage right now. http://www.dialwforwarp.com> Yeah, I notice that ;) Mine's in desperate need of a revamp, and I'll use my useless yet required design course as an excuse to tweak things.
<I was astounded when they introduced a cheaper 12" at MWSF> Yao!
Gside: <I thought they'd be too geeky to be hippy> I think it's an even split.
<You mean my brother could have been hazed?> Nipple-pinched with foundry tools and then dipped into a tank of turp.
<You can count on me. To be naked later, that is> No, there needs to be some cleaning, else my own body will fall apart ;)
<Only post-its on monitors for missed phone calls> Dry-erase board on the fridge, and occassional notes on doorhandles. "Your weird friend showed up again."
<Learn to like the taste of goat meat> At least you could acquire some cheese.
<Though today I got a call saying a manager wanted to meet with me, so I have to go back up next week> They paying your transportation?
<I put a spare sock in the freezer and called it my fun sock. It also at one point acquired the name "the homeless shelter"> Hehe. When my boss this summer had a surprise birthday party, the party supervisor made these creepy masks using a photograph of his face, with holes punched out for the eyes. It now perches within out paper towel dispenser, and when the moonlight hits it right, it creates quite a demonic shadow ;)
<I'd say they're mostly artists trying to show off> Please. Artist's don't need Flash to show off. Thus, the installation of 152 filled condoms tacked to the studio walls. Needless to say, it was also a performance piece...
<We're still waiting for the new monitors we've requested two years ago. Progress> You know, the library and low-tech labs all got flatscreen displays and upgraded macs, and they haven't touched the decrepid towers in the working GD labs. Guess that's why I should be happy I have the classes that render on PCs, since those get upgraded on a bi-annual basis. The tech department also cleans them on a bi-weekly basis, as opposed to the grungy mac labs...completely silly, if you ask me. You'd think *I* was working there, or something... ;)
Imzadi: <Gathering Virgins for G2k4?> They're poorer than I am, so Montreal is a no (Ivanny is probably still living off the California Pizza kitchen leftovers from Sophomore spring break).
<I don't understand this "required".> Kind of like, bitches, come!
<You mean like my mom?> I'm trying for any animators, first...but if I can't and go for the advertisers, perhaps? Does she have any artist contacts that do animation, even if they be in advertising/engineering/medical fields?
<I'll say.> Woot, Sunday afternoon pancakes ;)
<Not quite. I didn't work out for 3 months, but I've only lost 45% of capacity.> Actually, I should have said, "takes away 20%." Still, 45% isn't too bad, if that's based only on 100% of what you'd gained, instead of being based on what you gained *in addition to* what you'd already had.
<Yes, but most people don't know what cocoa is> I do, I do, thanks to you code monkeys! ;)
<Christine's headphones.> LOL. Mike's medication? ;)
<And yet, you don't take physics> Stupid Hopkins and their conflicting schedules. Learning reactor, though, required a very large text that at least brushed up my rigid bodies skills. I have yet to create a convincing soft-body simulation.
<A new personal best!> ::gold star::
<Someone turned the sympathy way down. My parents, I think> I'm sure that can be fixed. I got over the effects of second-hand smoking in a mere 6 months!
<Unfortunately, it does not take skills to be a web designer, because any idiot who can throw together some HTML can call themselves one.> Frankly, the folks who design by code should call themselves web *developers*. It's the one with design/fine arts training, who maybe use a little code on the side, who should call themselves the web designers. And it takes a well-organized team of these both to create a good website.
<I'll tell you what doesn't need to be learned, though.> You can, but maybe for only those in your field. The things you mention are important to those in other fields. At least these people are trying for higher learning, as opposed to sitting on their butts in a trailer, watching Jerry Springer and assuming they've learned all they need to know.
<if you lie about small things, you'll get practice for when you need it, like relationships.> Ah, and they say *we're* the manipulative ones ;)
<There doesn't seem to be anything that you actually DO with a philosophy degree> I do agree. However, I've found it best not to mention it to these folks, because then you shall be trapped in an endless conversation and/or beaten down with their Zen walking stick (On a somewhat related note, they've dropped major electives here but added a crappy new one, called Zen, and "according to the syllabus, during the 7th week you shall reach enlightenment." *THIS* ate up my History of Animation class?!?).
<"I'm hoping its a transformer."> The Brown Center Opening! ;)
FS: <Career Prep: Interview process, intro office politics, job prep, etc> Preach it, brother!
Bud-Clare: <Have you heard of any dorms being blown up lately?> Only of Big Josh falling into a vending machine. Was it an accident, or an attempt at murder? We may never know.
<Karine?> Gonna have to dig up an email addy...
<And Flash games are nice> I highly suggest orisinal.com. Just click-and-shoot to nice, ethereal music.
<No, but neither do musicians> Algorithmic sound animation.
<Dorm.> That doesn't answer me. I live in a dorm, but haven't shared a room since Freshman year (and that was by choice, for monetary purposes).
<Damn.> Sadly, she owns chickens, goats, and cats, which make me sneeze ;)
Mark: <All that's important is sitting in front of a computer all day long looking at meaningless lines of "code,"> That's not fair. First of all, because that's not what a civil engineer spends all of his/her time doing (if any). Secondly, it's not any more meaningless than learning history/the humanities, and if you think humanities is an important subject then coding, likewise, is equally as important. Try to get a website to work without understanding code. And websites are a very necessary item, especially for those in the humanities, because nowhere else may you find such open expression and cataloguing of human emotion.
Back to the work I can't seem to sit down and do...

TGS: RE> (spoilers) At first I thought the title was a play on words--ya know, "Roam Eternal". I didn't actually make the connection between Rome and the Grail (silly me. It seems obvious now. Though I think this is the first time that the Grail's Christian origins were so emphasized). Anyways, Ed does another terrific job with humorous villain dialog. I think my favorite line was the haggis joke. ;) The spirit legion guardian *did* seem like a hoaky invention by the writers at first, though I've come to trust the research done by the TGS team, so I guess my blame really should be directed to the silly Romans who believed in such things. I liked the tidbits of history that were incorporated into the story without being too obvious--like the Banshee's rant about Cuchulain being defeated by someone else, and Arthur's mention of Uther dying at that one location. I appreciated the Banshee's caution around the Roman soldiers because of their iron (if they were smart, people nowadays would carry more iron around with them). I also liked the part showing warriors from the clan on patrol duty. From past warnings, I was afraid we wouldn't be seeing these guys anymore.
I was a bit surprised that Molly's sudden visit didn't raise any eyebrows (or eyeridges) except Leba's. Have Una and Leo met her before? Has she regularly been visiting the group between episodes? I also thought it was a bit too much of a coincidence that she appeared to tell her story just as Lucius found the stone (or did Lucius find the stone months ago and only now managed to locate Molly? Maybe a date at the top of each section would have helped in that case). Also, how could there be a book detailing where the spirit can be found if the Banshee was the only witness? (I doubt Lucius was reading the Banshee's personal diary). In addition, though it was an interesting concept for a fae's spirit to be capable of splitting from its body, it doesn't jive with what we know about fae physiology/shapeshifting. They're beings of pure energy. How can you separate one part from the other? More importantly, how can the Banshee's powers be part of her physical form instead of her spiritual one? The whole time that the Minion was taunting her about being trapped forever, I was thinking, "Well, no. A third option would be to use enough magic (even if it was somehow made ineffective by the stone prison) to attract to Weird Sisters' attention. After all, being sent to Avalon can't be as bad as being trapped forever in concrete. The threat of her dying from a break in the stone also didn't hold water, since we know from the show that fae can only be killed by iron. I did like the line about how--for the *first time*--no one could hear her scream. ;) Though I do wonder how the roman spirit was able to manipulate iron if it was part-fae (or did it loosen the chains physically instead of magically). And though it said the Banshee needed its help to loosen her own chains, it was the Minions who did so, not the spirit. And finally, I was a little surprised that the whole "we are the mightiest, therefore you have to join our side" argument worked with the spirit. It didn't seem to require much persuasion. What I didn't get was why it was afraid of gargoyles "haunting" it. Otherwise, this was another good (and long) story. Keep up the good work!
Lynati> <<TGS has rather a lack of polishers right now...I don't suppose you could recommend anyone our way? O.o>> I can put up a request on GNC if you'd like.
