Gside: <As long as they can be used to impress the uninitiated, it's good enough to use for recruiting.>
Personally, simple contact explosives like that just won't do it. I need to see REAL carnage!
Once, I saw this video where they used a metric @$$ load of fertilizer/fuel bombs to strip mine a large area. They delayed some of the explosions... it was cool!
<I must have been channeling my inner southerer Ukranian>
I can just hear that...
<Besides, all good companies have bowels.>
Only because all good companies have a bit of evil in them.
Microsoft, on the other hand, is nothing BUT bowels.
<Well, my teeth are out, but I have no good drugs>
I remember getting all 8 of my wisdom teeth out (yes, 8). First two made my mouth swell up like crazy. The other 6 came out easy. No real need for pain meds, but they prescribed Vicodin anyway. Didn't use them, but I got them.
<The teabags were worse, though.>
I have a dirty, dirty mind.
<So convince him to go for mechanically stored energy projectiles. Mmm, crossbows, trebuchets...>
Given the size of a trebuchets, I think it may be a little difficult. Crossbows, on the other hand...
Greg Bishansky: <Hmm, Sauron vs Voldemort? Who would make a better Prez?>
Well, I do agree about what has been said about these candidates. Both can plan for the long term, with Sauron planning for the VERY long term, both can influence politics...
Sauron has held an office, though.
Personally, I like the underdog. Voldemort.
Todd Jensen: <Who are the people here going to nominate next for President, Cthulhu?>
Well, even though he may actually be a good candidate, the mere sound of his voice or looking at him is enough to cause insanity, so fund raising, debates, and public speaking are difficult, if not impossible. As good as he may be, I think it would be in the timeless one's best interest to not run in 04.
Imzadi: <But it's still wrong>
Yeah, but the thought "If I knew then what I know now" is a reality for him.
<No more of a chance than last time, really. And this time, Potter is armed.>
AND he has an army.
<Were't several death eaters captured after the final battle?>
Well, Voldemort basically controls Azkaban prison, so it is a revolving door for his followers now.
Xanatos for President: Sorry, I just don't see this, purely for business reasons. If he made the presidency, any business that his company does with the government would be watched by watchdog groups, and I see Xanatos increasing the amount of business that Xanatos will be doing with the government soon, especially in the area of defense.
I am sure that he could have more influence now that if he was president.
Besides... can you see Fox being first lady? (Well... Hillary was...)
Graymonk: <TODD JENSEN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!>
Even though he has been to a gathering, it's harder to prove the existence of Todd than it is to prove the existence of Sauron or Voldemort. Sorry.
Patrick: <"Um, cake please!" :)>
Well, we're out of cake!
Lain: <ps.. gunjack has decided to take up smelting, and the collection of percussion firearms. please, save me...>
Sorry, but I am with him with this one. Smelting? Kewlies. I hope to get my furnace up one day.
But look at it this way: He can make you gifts from solid metal!
Alternate places for the Gargoyles to live: Well, there's always Renards old Fortress 1.

Anrea> <<half of us are Red Sox fans (my neighbors are Yankees fans, which makes it all the more interesting)>>: So how many Bambino voodoo dolls have been nailed to their door?

I got an idea for who to vote for in the next pres election...Me. I think I'd make a great president and hey, I'm from California it seems like the popular thing to do. ;)

VASHKODA - Thanks for the review. I must admit, I'm a bit surprised to see that our readers considered the father/daughter relationship between Arthur and Mary so unconvincing; it had seemed natural to Ed Reynolds and myself when we were working on Breakdowns. Maybe that's the problem of having only two people on the Breakdowns Staff.
"Bretagne" is French for both Britain and Brittany; I believe that Brittany was usually distinguished from Britain by calling it "le Petit Bretagne". Britain didn't come to be known as Great Britain, if I recall correctly, until after James VI of Scotland also became James I of England in 1603 and thereby unified the island into a single kingdom.
Mary's pointed ears and the nature of Corbie's knife were both things that must have slipped past us during the writing; they never occurred to me just now, and they must not have occurred to Ed either, since he never mentioned them. (I think that the problem might be that we're too close to the story, as he himself admitted.) It didn't occur to us, either, that Mary might find herding sheep degrading (admittedly, there wasn't that much else that she could do to help out while she was in a wolf's body).
Re the "dead giveaway" part: I don't think that it mattered that much (as far as Sir Alain's enemies were concerned) since the world that he was in was essentially of the same nature as the "Future Tense" world that Puck stuck Goliath in - other than the fact that Arthur and Mary were physically transported into it - rather than a piece of "objective reality". (The history about the Knights Templar is real, though; so are some of the other elements that I referred to in the course of the story, such as Richard the Lion-hearted giving Excalibur - or a sword believed to be Excalibur - to the King of Sicily during the Third Crusade, the belief among continental Europeans in the Middle Ages that the English had tails, and Sir Alain's commentary on the faults of Edward II of England.)
I think that Merlin's distraction during Mary and Corbie's sword fight was partly due to the fact that he's currently a teenaged boy suffering from the weaknesses of an adolescent (I very much suspect that his response to it was a more G-rated version of Iago's response to Demona and Elisa's fight in "High Noon".) I don't think, also, that he was watching the sword fight quite as often as we thought.
As for the Morgana business: yes, we hadn't really worked out where she was during the bulk of the story. (Again, part of the problem that comes from having a small Breakdowns staff.) Morgana really was believed to have a home in Sicily (and in fact, the mirages that are said to appear in the Straits of Messina between Sicily and Italy were called "fata Morgana" and believed to be her work - hence the story's title), incidentally.
And, yep, Mordred's remarks about Mary were somewhat influenced by Thailog and Angela.
At any rate, thanks for the review.

Sorry this is a bit delayed. Jury duty messed up my whole week.
TGS: FM> I appreciate the use of italics to make foreign words stick out (lucky for Todd, there were no accents this time). ;) Are you sure that Britain was called "Bretagne" in those days? I'm just used to referring to Bretagne as Brittany, though I suppose "Great Britain" is "Grande Bretagne" (in that case, what did they used to call Brittany?). I liked seeing Blanchefleur, though it was strange to read about her married to someone other than Percival. Arthur never seemed too worried about possibly being stuck in the past, which I found very appropriate (poor Mary, however). I was surprised Blanchefleur didn't remark on Mary's pointed ears as she was brushing her hair. The ears should also have been a sign to Mary and Arthur that she had retained her curse. I was surprised Mary allowed herself to be assigned as a sheepdog with such good grace. I would have found it a little degrading, even if in the end it helped reassure people that she wasn't wild. As for the nobleman having the Grail, the possibility should have occurred to Arthur when the man told him he had a holy relic in his possession (*especially* when there is a banner of a golden chalice right above his throne). In fact, that would have been a dead giveaway to his enemies, too; not very smart. Since this is a parallel universe of a sort, does that mean that none of the history of the Grail shown here was real? (or real in the TGS universe, anyway). I suppose the Grail has enough legends associated with it that not *all* of them can turn out true, in which case it was interesting to show what an alternative history might have been like. I liked the concept of saving the Grail by bringing it forward in time, just like what happened to Griff. I think some mention should have been made that the knife the Morrigan carried wasn't iron (wouldn't that have been unusual?). I, too, thought the reference of Arthur as a father figure was unecessary (Mary already has a loving father. What does she need another one for?). Though having Mordred suddenly call Mary his "sister" conjured up images of Thailog and Angela fighting, and when threatening his 'sister' gave Arthur the boost he needed to defeat Mordred, I couldn't help but think of the Darth Vader/Luke battle. ;) I did have trouble believing that Merlin would waste time admiring Mary's fighting skills when Morgana was standing *right there* and Griff was fighting for his life. Using Mary to get Morgana to free Arthur was a cheap trick, IMO. I wonder if the group is going to keep playing that card. I also thought it was a bit too convenient to have Morgana out of the cave all that time, giving Merlin and Griff time to explore (if she was so good at tracking Arthur down, why did she have trouble tracking Merlin?). I liked the reference to the Pole Star and New Camelot at the end (a hint at season 5, I suppose?).
You're right Todd, I did enjoy this week's fic a lot more than the last one (not that the last one was bad; I was just being picky). Keep up the good work!

Lain! There you are! You didn't forget about me did you? I'll forgive you this time, sicne I understand you've been busy.
I get to go home next weekend! I'm so happy! I miss my kitty so much. And I miss my sister too, which is odd (I never saw much of her anyway. We're never really home at the same time, and we don't even talk anyways). Haven't decided how to get home yet. My parents are likely to take me one way (it's only an hour and 40 miniute drive), and I'll take the bus or train the other way. The only problem would be getting to the terminal. I could get the the town, but no way of getting to the terminal that I'm aware of as of yet. Maybe my cool RA will take me down, or one of the other people on my floor. They are awsome. We have a very social floor. And it's weird but cool how half of us are Red Sox fans (my neighbors are Yankees fans, which makes it all the more interesting).
Now I need to go back to decorating the door. I'm almost finished with the Gargoyles logo (I cheated and printed it out and then traced it, but I did the coloring job all by myself!), in addition to the Ponyta (a pokemon, it's a fire horse. I like horses), and Illusen pictures (she's an Earth Faerie from neopets.com)

Thanks, Revel.
I haven't posted in here for a while... but I've been insanely busy. They've had us on an overtime schedule at work since the beginning of September, and it looks like we're not going to get back to normal until November.
So what's going on... let's see... just three more days left until Californians make Ah-nuld their new leader. I wonder if he'll get a congratulatory phone call from former co-star Jesse Ventura. Meanwhile, on the national political front, it now appears that "WMD" also stands for "Words of Mass Distraction." I haven't seen a President duck and dodge a direct question this blatantly since Bill Clinton needed clarification on the definition of "is". Bush's people have reportedly found evidence, though, that Saddam tried to buy some nuclear materials. The North Koreans took his money and didn't deliver. No honor among despots, apparently... what is the world coming to? :P

Ok Time to finally post.
The REM concert was awesome! We were about 10 feet from the stage, even closer when Stipe came out and stood on a speaker thing in front of us. At one point everyone had their hands in the air, so I decided to wave hello (little kid style- all goofy) to the guitar player Peter Buck, and he nodded back at me. Not just my imagination, I thought it was though, until Brandon started freaking out next to me, yelling, "He nodded at you!!" Cool cool. Didn't get any souvys, I figure they'll be on their site for half the price soon enough. At various parts of the concert, I yelled on behalf of some friends who sat farther back, "Mike Mills for President!" (he's the bass player) just because we like the way it sounds. One of my friends even made a t shirt and sent it to him once.
It was interesting getting to the United Center. I had never been there but was told it was on Madison in Chicago. Brandon was driving. We got stuck in freakin' rush hour for like two hours. Finally I pleaded with B to just get off the stupid interstate and we'll take side roads there (although neither of us knew really where, I had a good idea). He wouldnt go for it, thought he would get lost, blah blah, blah. Finally said ok and we were off! And I got us there in minutes no sweat. I can find anything in Chicago.
Man I miss it. I HATE INDIANA. Stupid backwards hicks can't drive in the rain, drive so slow its infuriating, then cut off people (like me) so we have to slam on our breaks but the road is slick, so have to swerve into the next lane. Idiots.
We stayed over nite in Chicago, ran around with pals the next day and went REM hunting (visiting my favorite record stores for the real kind of souvys.)I completed my collection of every album on 12 in. plus some 12 in. singles. weee!
B is all talking about how he wants to move up there, but just transferred to yet another school down here in pursuit of a film degree. He told me to hurry up and get my news degree so I can have a stable practical job. A friend of ours from our old school in Chicago just graduated from graphic design, but will prolly muck about the retail world for a while longer. He blames the economy. He is a good graphic designer. He was the most hardcore about his field of all of us, and super sped through the program to graduate and get going. All that work. Sad really.
My 10 mo. old sister has discovered the joys of eating store bought play dough. She threw up colors! She also crawls like a demon, contemplates walking while holding onto the couch, and thinks regularly hiding in the shoe closet is fun.
And on another note, my dad who hasnt seen my sis since she was a drooling 4 mo. old, may (MAY) get to come home for a 15 day mid tour leave. I HATE INDIANA AND GWB.
Oh yeah one more thing: Apparently Ann Coulter is claiming that Joe McCarthy of the Red Scare was really just misunderstood and the victim of a liberal conspiracy. If anyone can find an article about this, I would love to read it. I need a good laugh. (I just heard about it through the grapevine). That woman is freakin' nuts.
Replies:
Lain and Gunjack: Congrats! Maybe you guys and Revel and Spacebabie can gang up on Brandon and drop some 2 ton hints on the boy. ;)
Mark: Well of course Xanatos would have Owen in there somewhere. If not VP then close by in the cabinet.
Mike Mills for president!
Bud Clare: hee hee. Brandon has a cleaning bug up his butt, has gone all TLC on me, and rearrange the living room, and is on an insane cleaning spree. Its so nice. *sits back and sips a soda, in a clean palace* ;)
Gside: They didn't give me any cool stuff when I got my teeth pulled either. Sucked. :( While I was out, apparently, my mom freaked out and went MIA for a while; they found her ready to pass out in her car. She freaked that I was unconcious and I woke up to her laying on a cot nearby me. I was mad. The one time _I'm_ out of it, and she freaks out! Doesn't gauze taste yummy though. :)
Spacebabie: ***Smallville spoilers*** I read in an article that they were either never gonna have Clark fly or it would be in the fifth season. They were definitly never gonna have him don a cape and tights. They've got some kind of five year plan, and after that they're done, unless something really good happens. You're right abot Chloe. I wonder if the Kents will all look down upon her alot now.
But I don't get the losing the farm thing. I know it was in danger, but just because Clark takes off, they lose it? dunno...
***End Spoilers***
B has also picked up the dvd boxed set. weee!
thats it. Xmen Evol. is on soon. And I dont have to work til three for once! Yea!

SPACEBABIE> <<I like to nominate Greg Weisman. Hell I’m actually voting for him>>
But then Greg will be too busy to write. We don't want that. Great as Greg is, I'd rather have him writing for TV and comics than as Prez. I doubt he wants to be Prez anyway.
But anyway, so far Sauron, Voldemort and Xanatos have been nominated. Hell, let's nominate Stewie Griffin, Captain Jack Sparrow, Vicious, Hannibal Lecter and George Carlin as well.
Stewie's got the desire and the ability. He just needs someone to wipe his own ass for him. So, that gives him at least one up on the average politician. He understands that basically everyone on the planet is an idiot, so you'd see no bowing to any special interest groups. Though he's a closet homosexual, and someone would create a scandal over this, cause there are too many fundies and reporters too interested in this sort of thing.
Captain Sparrow, hmmm. He's cool, I think the entire country would be in an orgy of drunken pleasure under him. He'd fix the economy by pillaging some other country. Though he has a criminal record.
Vicious. No criminal record, we all may know better, but I doubt he leaves enough evidence or even any witnesses to convict him. He's got that killer instinct and understands power is built from the ashes of one's enemies (so, the rest of the world will be fucking terrified). Though he's likely to kill all the members of Congress, the Senate and the Supreme Court also, just lock them in a room with him and his katana. It'll be over in twenty minutes. But he's the least likely to have any scandals.
Hannibal Lecter, technically he wasn't born in this country and has a criminal record, so he has as much chance of winning the next election as Joe Lieberman has of winning the Democratic nomination. On the plus side, he'd eat a bunch of politicians. So my vote may swing that way.
And finally George Carlin... he gets my vote. Out of all these people, he gets my vote. He has the most charisma and makes the best speeches. And cause he has a lot of good ideas for making capital punishment more entertaining, and turning Kansas, Colorado and a couple other states into big prisons for society's most amusing members.

Been a while and sorry ‘bout that
Charisma is a bad kitty. I was able to put Vixen into the bathroom but I couldn’t get her to come out. I decided she might stay under the bed the whole night and brought Roccon into my room. The little cat attacked him and Spooky helped her. Once Charisma leaped onto my writing computer I picked her up and put her into the bathroom. Spooky let Rocco alone after that, and Velvet…well Velvet is very tolerant.
2004 elections…forget Sauron and Voldemort for president. I like to nominate Greg Weisman. Hell I’m actually voting for him
SPOILERS…TGS…Smallville…Angel…and ER…
Dragon’s Treasure
Since there is a Quince will there be a Bottom, or a Snout, or possibly a Flute? I had no problem with Montrose being a buffoon. I read somewhere the idea voice for his character was Craig Ferguson, the man who played Nigel Wick on the Drew Carey Show and the character of Wick was a bit of goober. Villains such as him including Lucius are like Harmony from Buffy/Angel. They have their dark moments butt most of the time they are funny and are used a dressing…although I thought the fake facial hair was bit too much and I predicted him sneezing it off.
Fata Morgana…Great with the small microcosm and window to the world. I remembered reading a book about a mircrocosm. I felt Morgana’s motherly love for Mary has been a bit rushed though. I don’t see Arthur as a father figure to Mary…more a of futre father-in-law figure… and you fit Blanchfleur into Pendragon!!!!!
Smallville…Chloe’s becoming a bigger b!tch than before. Clark calling himself Cal.. Play on his Kryptonite name. That think with Lex on the island and his imaginary island mate was an interesting take on Lex’s psyche. I’m pretty sure Jonathon merging with Jor-el is going to be temporary and I have a feeling someone is going to fly next well.
Angel…nice revamp of the show. It’s almost like an new series. I got a small chuckle out of Lorne with his team. I was hoping to see more of Knox and am pleased. Hmmm I hear a water fall…no that is Josh drooling over Eve, she seems like she could be potential for a fun character. Harmony was a riot, I guess she’s Evilly Blond. David did a good performance last night. I could sense his rage at the crook using his son’s heart to hold the disease. The ending made me blink, but I knew Spike was going to show up. I have a feeling we are going to see even more Angel/Spike slash than before…especially with Angels “I don’t have a problem with spanking men and next weak Spike explaining he’s Angel’s date.

Greetings from the Land of the Morning Calm. All is well here. I'd have posted earleir but 8th Army has blocked the website, but I guess that's to discourage soldiers from farting around on-line, when they should be working.
Lain and Gunjack> While I think the engagement should be a few months longer, congratulations. Will the wedding vows be in power point ;)
Bud-Clare> Well, I wash dishes. Now that I'm on seperate rations, I'll be cooking, as opposed to using a cafeteria, though my dinners consist of Korean-style Ramen.
I also just had my rifle range an dit took me forever to zero my weapon, but I shot 32 out of 40 targets, so I qualified, and next October, I may not need to bother again, as I'll have three montsh left in the Army, especially with terminal leave allowing me to leave the Rok before Jan 29.
Bigger post later, like when I have the internet in my room (should take 6-8 weeks).

First Mid term on Monday. Yesh, why do they have to stary already? :P
On another, totally different note. I get so damn depressed when I buy a lottery ticket. They changed the Texas Lotto rules several months ago to increase small winnings and decrease bing ones to build bigger pots. The thing is I get LESS nubers now than I did when there were more... It's all fixed.
**Self Promo**
Finally, after a really fricking long time I got my act together and updated my web site. Revamped the art stuff added a bunch new pics, dug my previous TGS work out to post and a new fic in the archive.
Of course I had to buy more web space but it was necessary.
Go check it out if you have a chance.
**End**
*glances at random comment to Lain* Going to have to agree with Lynati on this one. That was really uncalled for and tackless.
Bud-Clare- <<And men that wash dishes _well_ are even fewer and farther between>> I happen to think I keep my place pretty nice. I wash the few dishes I have here and seem to be the only one who cleans the fricking toilet. :P
Gside- Ouch, I will hav eto have one wisdom tooth pulled eventually I think. As for what to do with them... sell them to a potion man or witch doctor maybe he can make something cool out of them. Yeah, The Mac Hall Jehovas Witness strip reminded me of the commen Mark had made. That was four years ago... wow.
Aaron- can't remember who said it, but someone mentioned a school that was on a reservation that their mascot is a WASP in business dress with a suitcase called the "Fighting Whitie."

Been busy for a while. Spent several days working on a complex server program, and trying to compile, run, and then connect to it from my Linux box. Ugh, that was a real trip. On a positive note, I accomplished my impossible feat of getting OS X AND Windows XP to both connect to a Linux shared folder over Samba. Lots of tinkering there, hours of failed attempts. I hate Windows encrypted passwords...

But at least I could chew on the one side of my mouth then without too much pain. I since think getting teeth pulled is the worst pain a person can live with (after the anesthetic wears off anyway). As for Avalon Mists,
please send in anything you're interested in contributing. The magazine can't be anything without the fans. :) Deadline is October 15th (however I'll take late submissions if you contact me first and let me know! <:))
Also, we're looking for staff members? Responsibilties for being a staff member is you have to come up with at least one article for every issue (which is every three months). It can be really almost anything within the PG-13 range though.
Trying to broaden the magazine's concept and make it more like an actual online Zine, so please feel free to contribute!
PS. Staff of TGS, lemme know if you want me to feature anything in the upcoming zine. :)

Longish post, as I've been out for a few days. School has really cranked into gear and I'm busy as hell for the next couple weeks: 1 midterm, 1 paper, 1 presentation, 2 or 3 quizzes, and nasty homework assignments in between.
***TGS COMMENTS***
The idea of Arthur feeling like a father figure to Mary is just ridiculous. Arthur, with his background, would be perfectly comfortable with a child of that age serving as his squire without needing to develop paternal feelings for them. And while Mary may look up to Arthur as a role model (and as a squire, it's exactly what she should be doing), that's a far cry from seeing him as a father figure. Even if her real father is a jerk.
***END COMMENTS***
Fortunately, at the end of it all, my friend is coming to visit, so all will be well.
Mooncat: <<Its not just raw fish>>: No kidding. That said, it is a vital component, and if my raw fish is ruined, likely my sushi experience will be as well.
<<now I'm craving sushi and it's only 5 am>>: I feel your pain!
Kaioto: <<a single year is always the short-term. Heck, 5 years is short-term>>: For some companies, yes. But for many companies, a year is their entire life. Investors make split-second decisions with no regard for long-term company strategy.
<<when big companies run at losses for years at a time, more taxes simply come out of the hides or medium and small businesses>>: That's only income tax. The payroll tax paid by an IBM or a GE each year is so much larger than the income tax paid by a few hundred successful small businesses, and GE has to pay it whether they make money or not.
<<Has to agree with josh here>>: That's because I'm an engineer 8-)
Aaron: <<NFL's Potomac-Basin Indigenous Persons>>: An Redchiefs (is that the right name?) joke?
Ed: <<I think this has led us into asking questions about who Arthur is and what his role is rather than matching him against specific villains>>: I think TGS staff has no idea what Arthur's role should be in the new world and is having Arthur go through the same crisis, both hoping an answer will present itself ;-)
<<I don’t know much about his domestic policies so I can’t really judge him very well>>: PATRIOT Act. 'Nuff said.
<<You could say he won 'Goblet'>>: No, you can't. Even though he was successfully reborn, he still lost the dual against Harry by failing to kill him.
Gside: <<in the bowels of Apple R&D>>: Apple doesn't really have "bowels". Bowel movements, no doubt (they produce marketing employees!). But the buildings are all <= 4 stories with one basement max (usually a parking garage).
<<what's wrong with porn?>>: Nothing!
<<Mac Hall>>: Great strip.
<<He also did the dishes?>>: If so, she should probably hold on to that one. Men that wash dishes are few and far between.
<<I wonder what I shuld do with them if they come out whole>>: Tooth fairy!
<<I'll get some good drugs tomorrow, and then who knows what will come out of my mouth. Penguins, possibly>>: Perhaps monkeys. Or flying pigs.
<<I'm actually reading the constitution of the United States of Bolivia>>: Would you know the difference?
Bud-Clare: <<Aren't you dead yet?>>: Maybe.
<<sounds like ritual sacrifice to me>>: Hehe. What god would demand sacrifice of my posterior?
<<Excuses, feh>>: It's a good excuse.
<<Prove it>>: Proof by JMS.
Vash: <<How would Mr. Q have gotten his hands on such a thing, and why wouldn't anyone else have used the map before now?>>: He's the world's leading expert on the material. If he doesn't have it, no one would.
<<How would you react to a fic where slavery or WWI were said to be caused by some mishap by a fae? It just doesn't sit well with me.>>: Maybe not, but it's both entirely possible and entirely expected. Fae spent the last 1000 years meddling in human affairs. It's only to be expected that some of them would be involved in some of humanities' darkest moments.
Phire Kat: Aren't you dead yet?
<<why can't I read any of the Bad GUys stuff yet?>>: Because it hasn't been published yet you frikkin idiot.
Todd: <<by the time he was able to finish the review and send it in, the story had already been released>>: Your schedule is self-enforced. Give it some slack so that all the edits can get in as necessary. A few days never hurt anyone. Especially for illness. If you're worried, don't let people slip too many times, I guess.
<<Even being ruled from London under a "taxation without representation" policy is better than having a Dark Lord in the White House>>: You mean like Bush?
Taleweaver: <<we've seen a Roman spirit in Scotland, a Norse fire giant in Wales and an Irish fae hanging out in London>>: None of those are half a world apart.
<<it doesn't break out of the myth-of-the-week mold>>: A mold which is very much a part of the Gargoyles Universe.
Fire Storm: <<since he IS biologically 15, he would be tried as a 15 year old.>>: But it's still wrong.
<<if it wasn't for the fact that the good guys will most likely win in Harry Potter, I'd say he has a chance this time.>>: No more of a chance than last time, really. And this time, Potter is armed.
<<Did Voldemort really lose anyone?>>: Were't several death eaters captured after the final battle?
Question: <<Effective? The idiot has lost five times against a freaking kid.>>: Excellent point!
<<Botching ones own resurrection and letting the said child necessary for that resurrection to get away and tell your mortal enemy is not my idea of victory.>>: I could not have said it better myself!
Lain: <<well be formally tying the knot around christmas-time>>: Congrats.
Graymonk: <<TODD JENSEN FOR PRESIDENT!!>>: Uh, no.
Damien: <<in the gargoyles season 1 etc do they take place at the same time as the shows season one? or after the 2nd season, or even after chronicals>>: Good question, actually. The first episode of the TGS Gargoyles series, "The Journey", is the same episode as the TV episode by the same name (episode 1 of the Goliath Chronicles). The rest of the TGS season is intended to replace the Chronicles, which creator Greg Weisman believes to be an abomination not in line with his grand vision. The rest of the seasons continue from there. Think of it as the continuation of the show after the Gargoyles re-located to Castle Wyvern, as if the Goliath Chronicles never existed.
Sleep soon.

the Labyrinth. It's secret, TGS has it financially backed by Xanatos as still another research place (which it was, and could easiyl be made to look again, if you took down all the laundry hanging above it), and it already has non-humans living there. plus, given the subway tunnels and the old underground rail systems, not to mention any other forgotten passageways or things added when Cyberbiotics moved there, they have a literal labyrinth to escape and confuse anyone tryng to find their to the place, while the Labyrinth itself has the special, look-like-a-wall doors that look to be a pain to break through. The central core can be sealed off and easily defensible, if anyone managed to actually find it. The tunnels aroudn it are both its weakness (hard to defend them all) and its strenght (hard to know where to go, easy to get lost, and changes can be made so that *if* one was to manage to find fairly accurate map of the sub systems, the maps might now be wrong.)
Nobody is going to see the gargs underground- well, not many- and there are plenty of places to access the sub and sewar systems that they need not ever use the same entry twice; all the city would know is that they (might) be underground somewhere, and that is if they realized that seeing the gargs go underground was a lead-in to their actual lair, and not one simply looking for a spot to nap for the day.

Macbeth housing the gargoyles? If their roosting place became public knowledge I don't think our man Macbeth would want to weather the scrutiny. His being immortal would be a whole 'nother can of worms. People will dig into the identity and life of whoever is known as associates with the Gargoyles, much less house them. Macbeth is not such a paragon to come out of a thorough investigation well. Wealthy, immortal, sorceror and warrior, a combination that if it becomes public knowledge even in part could make Macbeth hunted by the powerful, the envious or the fearful elements of humanity.

Todd> Somehow, I think having the Clan roost at MacBeth's would be problematic at best.
Sure, he's got a security system that rivals Xanatos (i.e., sometimes it shoots itself) but it's ground level, and therefore much more accessible, both to people like the Quarrymen, and the press.
If word got around that the gargs were roosting there, some awkward press scrutiny would certainly fall on "Lennox MacDuff", the gargoyles mysterious benefactor.
Staying at the castle, though flawed, seems the best choice.

With Xanatos and Fox's rap sheets in mind, I can't help wondering whether Goliath and his clan ought to consider finding a different home than the Eyrie Building. After all, if they ever do finally manage to convince the public about their being protectors, their choice of roosting place is going to be more than a little embarrassing:
"So you gargoyles are crime-fighters, are you? In that case, why are you living with a couple of ex-convicts?"
"Well, they came to our rescue when we were trapped by the police at St. Damien's Cathedral, and their castle was once our ancestral home."
"Oh, sure."
Of course, I'm not sure who'd be able to take them; Elisa's apartment would be way too obvious a place for the clan's enemies to look, Renard's dying (dead in the TGS Universe), and I doubt that the clan has warmed enough to Macbeth to roost at his place (although at least the authorities don't know that Macbeth was behind the theft of the Scrolls of Merlin).

<So, Bush has a criminal record. He was arrested three times, for stealing a Christmas reeve(sp?), for drunk driving, and for hooliganism at a Football game>
Sorry to break this to you, but those aren't major crimes especially the theft of a christmas wreath. However accepting stolen property belonging to a rival corporation and taking hostages at gun point are major crimes and the fact that they served jail time for them is not going to endear them to the public though a decent spin doctor could probably excuse or cover up their past misdeeds.

Damien - <<where are the stories that are mensioned?>> All you have to do is go back to the main page and click on the title of the series you're interested in (like for PENDRAGON just scroll down to where it says PENDRAGON in big letters and click on it). Or you can just scroll up the tool bar on the left hand side of the page and click on the links to the series' episode archives. The links are located directly above the comment room link. If you want to read this week's newest PENDRAGON story (although I'd recomend going back and reading the rest of PENDRAGON first), or check the status of the other series (PENDRAGON is the only one in production right now although BAD GUYS is on its way and GARGOYLES is in development) just click the CURRENT EPISODE link on the toolbar at the top of the Comment room or the link DPH posted.
I've posted a link to the Gargoyles episode archive, just click on my name and then click on which season you want to read (it's a good idea to read the first seasons of GARGOYLES and PENDRAGON before you read GARGS season 2 though.
Welcome to the TGSCR and enjoy the stories!

Xanatos as president: Was bush actually convicted of any crimes? The rules say that the president must never have been convicted of a crime in the US. I think that includes plea bargaining to community service and the like, though I am not a lawyer.
But Xanatos could definitely run for governor of California, and he's a much better choice than Ahnold.

<I nominate David Xanatos for President *^_^* heh.... hey, if Lex Luthor can be President for a full real time term in the DC universe, anything is possible.>
Actually the Luthor in the present DCU doesn't have a criminal record (since his near successful attempt at destroying Metropolis was proven to be the work of his clone in a court of law) which would no doubt prove a problem for Xanatos if he tried to become the President because of his lack of a decent excuse for both his and Fox's past misdeeds

eee! the room changed over!
I nominate David Xanatos for President *^_^* heh.... hey, if Lex Luthor can be President for a full real time term in the DC universe, anything is possible. And Fox would make such a stunning First Lady.
Went to a local ren faire yesterday. Picked up some cute "Petal Pixies" which are incredibly charming. I've arranged them on the small vase of leather roses I keep by my computer monitor. I'll have to take a picture *^_^*
Well today has been very dark. Not gloomy. Dark. And rather chilly. I've been fighting the sleeps all day, because it feels like early morning, even if it is middle of the afternoon.
Becoming addicted to Korean Manga. Borrowed a friend's copies of vol 1-3 of I.N.V.U. -- I haven't been too much of a fan of shoujo manga before, but this has captured my interest.
sleeeeeeeepy...

<Todd's right! America needs a strong leader but one with a moral core! Someone who will get things done but stay a nice guy while doing them! america needs TODD JENSEN! Say it with me now! TODD JENSEN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!! >
What have I gotten myself into? (At this point, I feel like quoting William T. Sherman's famous phrase, "If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve.")
At any rate, thanks for your review of "The Dragon's Treasure". And, yep, it was kind of fun to include a piece of non-European mythology in "Pendragon". (We also planned at one point to do a story featuring El Dorado, but wound up dropping it when we couldn't get it to work.)

**********SPOILERS FOR THE DRAGON'S TREASURE***********
I may be contradicting myself, given the big deal I made of Lucius last week, but I liked Darien's portrayal in this ep. Darien's a;ways had a bit of a comedic side to him so I don't mind it when he's played for laughs, as long as it is well done. The part where he has to offer the villagers a cut of the treasure to become an angry mob? Well done. Blowing his disguise by sneezing, or giving his plan away in a rant? Not so well done. These felt like convenient plot twists that occur only so Arthur can find out what is going on. The latter seemed especially unnecessary since Montrose's goals could easily have been revealed by Quince (there's no way I can spell Quetzwhateveryoucallhim)a few lines later. I was quite pleased with Darien's talent for disguise Though. Not only did it provide for an entertaining Rocky and Bullwinkle like scene but it makes Darien a little more interesting, after all how many CEOS are literal masters of disguise? Likewise I didn't have a problem with Darien being so obssessed with the treasure. Darien has always struck me as an ambitious man whose company isn't on the same level as Xanatos or Nightstone but who definetly wants it to be. If this treasure was large enough to put him in that league I could easily see him becoming so desperate to acquire it. I liked Mary kicking Montrose's butt too. Has she been taking lessons from Dulci or Arthur?
I'm also ecstatic to finally learn more about Dulcinea's past. Her mentor sounds like an interesting fellow, although this does raise the question of how did such an idealist end up raising a pragmatist like Dulci. I look forward to learning the answer to that question.
I also liked how Quince's uncertainty about what to do with himself mirriored Arthur's current quest for a purpose.
Finally it was refreshing to see PENDRAGON involve elements of a mythology from outside Europe for once. This was a fairly slow moving but interesting story. 8 giant dragon feathers out of 10.
Ed - <<I think in some ways though, the nature of the Grail quest itself has dictated which villains are prominent. Season 4 is very personal. The characters are frequently trying to make peace with their past while trying to understand their place in the present. This doesn’t immediately suit characters like Sybil, Lucius and Montrose who are all concerned in different ways with the pursuit and nature of power.>> Agreed. I'm not sure if I've made this clear in my reviews but I LOVE the Character centric focus of this season. It's good to see issues like Arthur's purpose being adressed or Rory examining his past and his relationship with Cuchullain or Merlin appologising to Morgana. It really feels as if PENDRAGON is finally coming into its own. This is easily the best season yet and you guys should be proud.
Todd - <<And I'll confess that I had a few problems being able to take Darien Montrose seriously after his little encounter with Demona and Angela at the end of "Lethe".>> As I said, Darien has always had a comedic side but I'd still consider someone who could have the London clan wiped out at any moment a serious threat.
****************END SPOILERS*************************
Todd - <<First Voldemort, then Sauron, yeech. Who are the people here going to nominate next for President, Cthulhu? (No, been done.)>> Todd's right! America needs a strong leader but one with a moral core! Someone who will get things done but stay a nice guy while doing them! america needs TODD JENSEN! Say it with me now! TODD JENSEN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!
