For those of you running the betting pool: no I have not yet used my new optical mouse on my naughty bits. Amazing restraint, I know.

Fire Storm> <<Too many bodies... all over...>>: Pleasant memories?
<<Too many bodies... all over...>>: Yeah, I probably should get started designing before I get permissions, but I still don't have much in the way of specifications.
<<Good luck. You'll need it!>>: Thank you, I know: I've heard rumors of slow response time.
<<You only know my HUMAN name... my True Name is still hidden!>>: Oh well, at least I might be able to get further in my search with my new data.
<<I like the sound of that>>: I stole it from a horror movie title, C.H.U.D.: Cannabalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.
<<I get the best mint out of the rug in the hall>>: Too bad you've got cows instead of sheep, you could make a nice mint jelly to go with the lamb.
<<while the one in the living room grows the best basil that you will ever taste>>: It is because of the Cheeto dust from your snacks?
<<Take chicken, bread and fry, peel the skin off, bread and fry, bread and fry>>: And we can go into cometition against the pork rind industry.
<<I mean, who puts 2-liters in a bag?>>: Well, every now and then we need a few extra paper bags for garbage bags. And aren't you supposed to say sack?
<<Boys are stringy>>: You just need to cook them right.
<<And adults... who knows what they have done to themselves>>: It's almost as bad as inviting Shiunji over.
<<Oh.... kewl>>: Sometiems it is much fun living with the local mad scientist.
<<I know>>: You know my father's name. You are stalking me, aren't you?
<<I can tolerate mustard, but not ketchup>>: But, but, but... it's so good mixed with A1 on a burger. And what else am I supposed to put on my hash?
<<I just had to say Awwww when I read about the little kitties>>: One was on its back. That must have been surreal.

Well, I will have to say goodbye to my little Isis tomorrow *sad moonkitty* because while my friend didn't find who lost her, he did find a woman who worked on base who needed a companion for her young cat. So Isis goes bye bye tomorrow, and my heart will be bereft of her sweet little purr and uber affection.

I keep telling myself I don't need MORE kittens, because I still have Phoebe, Selene, and Luna who are only 3 months old and cute as leopard spotted buttons. But Isis gave me kisses, and had such a LOUD purr for such a little kitten... sigh.

Lots of candy left, because I went out last night instead of handing it out. *^_^* -- Watched Mystery of the Batwoman, very cool, and Vampire Hunters (Chinese with English subtitles) very cool, and was stuffed full of rare center cut filet and baked potatoes full of sourcream, butter and bacon bits... *kitty drool* plus the extras, at Outback. I love my friends *^_^* And every store we went to for shopping was giving out candy!!!

aagghh... so sleepy now. Turned on the heater. Has been super cold since yesterday. sooooooo sleepy.

spent today doing absolutely nothing. sigh.

Lain> <<at least you have undies worth stealing>>: As do I, but my defences are secure.
<<he promises not to accidentally cut off his fingers in your kitchen>>: But that's the best part.

Andrea> <<People have died in that hall>>: Eh, I was leaving my building while the police were going up to take out the body. He landed outside the preceptor's window.

Patrick> <<I'm too lazy to go take the lazy test. Does that mean I score 100%?>>: Going through it without filling in any answers only gives you 10% or so, so I don't think avoinding it completely would give you much more.

Lynati> <<and ate candy>>: Is that and ate "candy" wink wink nudge nudge, or just candy?

Fire Storm> <<Of course not>>: Don't really blame you, but I was waiting for you to get yours in to do any of my work.
<<I took what I had worked on in the past (which worked just fine for me) and e-mailed it all to you>>: Thank you, I got it and emailed you back. <<Didn't he also take LSD for inspiration?>>: Not that I know of, he was all about the little girls. Hated boys, and didn't really like adults.
<<What experiment was that?>>: Get a pringles can with lid. Turn it upside down and poke a hole on the side near the lid and in the middle of the metal that used to be the bottom. Take your hydrogen and start pumping it into the lower hole. When the can is filled, put your finger over the top hole, take away the hydrogen, then light the top hole (after removing your finger). It should burn with a small flame for a while until enough oxygen is sucked into the can to give you a 2:1 hydrogen:oxygen ratio, at which point it will boom (making some water).
<<Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Labcoat>>: Close, but it's Jeff.
<<Not a big mustard fan>>: Next you're going to tell me you put ketchup on your hot dogs.

Bud Clare> <<Is there another?>>: There have to have been uncreative parents somewhere.
<<And you are the laziest of all>>: Yes, but I've also spent my time preparing so I can be lazy later.
<<if I hadn't been so tired, it wouldn't have seemed so odd to me>>: See, it's not me, it's you.

Of course not! Hadn't worked on it since they wiped my PC and I haven't put PHP or mySQL back on it. BUT I took what I had worked on in the past (which worked just fine for me) and e-mailed it all to you.

<People have died in that hall>
Doesn't surprise me. Most dorms that have been open for 50 years is likely to have at least 1 death in it.

I'm too lazy to go take the lazy test. Does that mean I score 100%?

Was it just my neighborhood, or did Halloween receive a really lackluster reception this year? I can't figure out the low turnout last night for trick-or-treat. The weather was certainly not to blame. The last part of the week, it's been Indian summer here. It reached nearly 80 yesterday, it was still in the high 70s last night, and the rain held off until at least ten o'clock. It was the best Halloween weather northern Ohio's seen in at least a decade... yet there were hardly any kids out.

On the upside... with all the leftover candy, I can get a head start on the winter weight-gain season that typically doesn't begin until around Thanksgiving. :P

LURKING ECHO - Yep, some of the elements of "No Mercy" don't appear that likely to be fulfilled in the future. But then again, many of the elements of "Future Tense" don't strike me as that probable, either. Xanatos taking over New York and making himself its dictator, for example: that strikes me as much too melodramatic and "cliched super-villain" for his style.

Todd Jensen > “Fata Morgana" has a new and second picture on it >> That’s a cool picture : ).
Jan> flying roaches >> They fly? and I thought the swarming ones were bad!
*** Spoilers ***
Ed> echoes of “No Mercy”>> You mean that these events won’t literally occur in the series, just contribute to Arthur’s mind set during the quest? Good. I really hope Leba won’t get zombified : ). Anyway, it wouldn’t make sense for, say, Morgana to try a new simulacrum when the first one did not work for reasons that had nothing to do with its dissipation, or that Molly’s fear of Oberon would be strong enough for her to ally with Unseelie imitators. The vampyre attack is a possibility, though. (Poor vampyres, all they wanted when they went to Sevarius was a job or a sandwich, and instead they got pointy ears, a thirst for blood and the interest of Lucius Adrians).
Overall, an interesting episode because Arthur’s confrontation with Mordred is also one with the part of himself that is willing to use evil means to achieve a good end. Like the baby-killing. Before he said many times that he’s sorry about it, but there was still the question of what he would do if such a situation came up again. His refusal to use the aid of the Illuminati already shows his unwillingness to use any means to get the Grail, but here Mordred’s illusion raises the stakes from the personal (curing Merlin) to the future of the country and more, which is more comparable to the reasons for which Arthur agreed to drown the babies. So this one is a stronger confirmation that he has changed.
BTW, guess I misread the Fata Morgana episode when I said Morgana is willing to sacrifice Mary to kill Arthur. This time it’s quite the opposite.

Well, the party SUCKED. Only like a dozen people showed up. One dude was covered with duct tape, another was an AWSOME oompa Looma. And, the kicker....NO CANDY! They had veggies? WTF? You can't have healthy good on Halloween, it's against the rules! So, we went into on person's dorm and watched Anime for the nite. THAT was fun! They thought my lady bug costume was cool. Simple, but cool.

We hear the shut down the party at like 9:30 for lack of interest (I was supposed to run 8-11).

And I learned on of the dorms is haunted...creepy. People have died in that hall, like one girl Sarah died of a sudden brain anyurism, and is nice and cleans up people's things occasionally. Another was murdred there, and there was also a supposed suicide. While the other's aren't BAD per se, but they aren't the nicest.

They wanted me to go use the ouji board afterward, but I said no. I'm sorry, I'm not gonna piss off some spirits in a haunted dorm on halloween.

Sorry for errors, I'm on a caffene high...

Andrea> glad you found a costume :) I saw a few quick & inexpensive costumes... pin a bunch of various sizes of gift bags on your clothes - you're a "bag lady"; wear a white outfit and pin small pink balloons on you - you're a "bubble bath"; dress the upper half of your body in army field gear - you're an "upper G.I."; put the letter P on your shirt and draw a black circle around one eye - you're a "black-eye pea". Cute, cheap and catchy. Too late now, but maybe for next year ;)

Zach is Superman this year and quite adorable. =) I call him "Super Z". It's hard to believe that he'll be 21 months old tomorrow.

Misc. life updates:
I have been offered (and I accepted) the position of Jail Admin. This is quite a promotion within the sheriff's department. I am now responsible for every aspect of the jail and its function. The amount of paperwork is unbelievable and the workload will now be at least tripled for me. I will be on call 24-7 too. However, I have always liked working in the jail area and this is a lot more money, I am on the supervisory level, and it's a lot more fun back there instead of the office area.
In some ways, it reminds me of working with special needs/behavioral disorder students... only they are taller and have more hair on their chest now ;)

Michael is currently assigned to Lackland AFB in San Antonio. He graduated with two Distingushed Graduate Honors. He graduated from the Electronics Principles and Computer Network and Cryptographic Switching Systems (look Josh..I know what courses he took! ;) )

Anna, my daughter is now engaged and is planning a June 5th wedding.

I have a new puppy - a moose that says "German Shepard" on the AKC papers. I think there was a typo. I have never seen such a HUGE puppy in my life!! She's 5 months old and when stretched tall, she stands right at 5' tall.
McKenzie thinks that she is a lap dog O_o

Spike> are craneflies the same as skeeter hocks?

Leo> the flying roaches... tree roaches? Those are nasty! Can't exterminate against them because they fly through the doors and non-screened windows. I miss Texas, but I don't miss those nasty things!

Lain> I saw similiar skies this past week - very awesome and breath taking!

Weather is odd here right now... temps in the 80's today and dropped 30 degrees as soon as the sun went down.
We'll probably end up with a foot of snow by next week. -,-

I'm in the process of remodeling my house and it's driving me bonkers! It seems to be taking forever. I am having tlaminate flooring installed, a new deck built and changing the paint scheme in the front room, wallpapering over paneling in the den, and changing out the window coverings. I will wait until spring to do the screened in porch area on part of the deck and have new carpeting installed in the bedrooms.

ED - <And lastly… I assume the Gandalf quote you’re referencing is the one where Griff talks about fighting because it’s right. Interestingly, I’d never even considered Gandalf in connection to this (and in edits, I seem to recall Todd noting a different analogy again).>

Yes, as I recall, the analogy that I brought up was Goliath saying to the trio in "Angels in the Night" about how they were staying in New York to protect it, despite the human hostility towards them, "not because it was easy, but because it was right."

Happy Halloween, everyone.

***FLIGHT FROM THE ENCHANTER SPOILERS***

Vash: Thanks for the review. I like the quotes you picked out. All of which I was very pleased with. To answer your questions...

There are elements of this story that are influenced by points made in this comment room but the May Day Massacre issue was one we’ve been keeping ticking over since “The Mists of Eynhallow”. Sorry about the confusion in the “previouslys”. I rearranged the order so that the recap would end with Arthur and Jennifer not Merlin and Morgana, but it looks like I forgot to change the episode source. It was from “Home for the Holidays”.

The title “Flight from the Enchanter” is from a book by Iris Murdoch which influenced me a little writing this. There as here, the ‘enchanter’ isn’t a character of fantasy but someone who can literally enchant his audience. The White Knight and the wisps were at one stage supposed to have a bit more gravity about them. This fell away in the A-plot when I wanted to make Arthur more prominent, but Montrose is still very clearly an ‘enchanter’ in the B-plot. There’s also the metaphorical enchantment – being enchanted to accept a compromised moral position.

As for accepting the White Knight’s help, really they were only accepting his hospitality – and even then only before they knew his secret. I think Griff at least felt uncomfortable about it, but Arthur wants to believe that Lancelot can be redeemed. And yes, I intended that Arthur and company would be ‘down’ enough so that they could be taken to the kingdom.

Arminius Fenn is an ally of Arthur’s from the first season episode “Dragon’s Wrath”. I’m afraid in the end I never got around to bringing him into things.

And lastly… I assume the Gandalf quote you’re referencing is the one where Griff talks about fighting because it’s right. Interestingly, I’d never even considered Gandalf in connection to this (and in edits, I seem to recall Todd noting a different analogy again). I think it’s more likely I was influenced by LOTR, of course, although it certainly wasn’t intentional.

***NO MERCY SPOILERS***

Question: Technically, I’d argue that wasn’t Mordred but a representation of Mordred built by Arthur’s subconscious empowered by the spell to destroy him. As for your question… it’s possible that there may be echoes of “No Mercy” in future episodes. But, I suspect, not the echoes you’re expecting.

***END SPOILERS***

Lazy test: 52% lazy

I need an evil test now.

Work: Been scripting my heart out, and GASP! They may actually USE some of the (REALLY big) scripts I wrote! Now, I just have to figure out a better way to make Unix figure out dates in the past...

Niamhgold: <Believe you me, if I weren't so busy and trying to find ways to do work off of my computer, I would>
Oh, promises, promises!
<I'm also dealing with what I suppose is senioritis>
Ick! That can sometimes be fatal! Be careful and take plenty of sick days!
<Also trying to shield myself from the depressive folks>
Goths or goth wannabes?
<In odd circumstances, floss>
Never stubbed my toe on floss, but yes, I have found some in the carpet. I guess I missed the basket... at work.
<In Philadelphia, there are now fried Tastykakes on a stick...::shudder::>
And for some reason, I am not really surprised.
<Currently, I feel I am only 95% evil, and maybe 97% selfish>
As long as you have selfish or evil, everything is good

Revel: <I had a snappy response when I saw this but forgot it... I'll just laugh at you in a friendly way>
I would have loved to hear it!
<Oooooh Yes,, the volume has died off quite a lot since most of the offensive smart asses have left or decreased their visitation.>
Hmm... so, if I am an @$$hole, they will come?
<We have to have points to our posts???!>
Suburban legend, nothing more.

DPH: <I. Want. My. Sanity. Back. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>
Not too sure I ever really had mine in the first place. Oh well. I don't miss it.
<what's the worst case scenario of what could happen if I tried playing a DVD on my pc?>
Armageddon. Or is that the worst movie... Hmm... (Can't complain. That was one of my first DVD purchases)
Worst case: The RIAA will come to your house and beat you.
But really, the worst thing is that the DVD player will lock up and you need to reboot.
<Just kidding. I managed to use my pc to capture what's on the screen of my calculator.>
Bored now?
<Are they saying that the entire Earth is the size of a locker compared to other beings or that the galaxy is the size of a locker compared to other beings?>
It's all about scale. Worlds within worlds. Like the end of MIB v1

Gside: <I'd say reptiles more than lizards. They tend to stay smaller>
That doesn't keep cows out of my rugs!
<Frying makes everything better, and putting it on a stick makes everything better. So those are doubly good.>
What they need is to take the fried skin off of chicken, put that on a stick and fry THAT a few times!
<Not really, just find it on it's own at a set time. You can alway order Omaha Steaks>
Hmm... but meat over the internet?
<Perhaps it was because I was getting it short term for a school, but since I put it on a credit card, they didn't take a deposit.>
Ah. I keep mine long term. Had my CO2 for... geez, about 2 years now.
Note to self: Now that I have the house, I must set the pop machine up again.
<Well, at least your brain is in good pedophillic company with Lewis Carroll.>
Alice in Wonderland Lewis Carroll?
<It was a year out of date, and we didn't have a good nozzle on the thing, but it wasn't getting good enough pressure to fully inflate a balloon.>
Ah... but that's no excuse!
<they kind of promised him to treat him as normal as possible>
Who are these "they"? Why did you listen to them?
Wait...
"They" are clowns, aren't they?
<I don't know. I think it might be good enough if we got more volume and regularity from who's still here>
Either one will work for me

Patrick: <Those rabbits must live in Southern California.>
*laughs*
Hmm... endangered species are being burned too, right?
That's it. I need an airplane ticket and some BBQ sauce!

Lain: <because this house, for some bizzare reason, gets FREE CABLE!!!! and TONIGHT IS THE PREMIERE OF THE THIRD SEASON OF 24!!!!!!>
Isn't that part of your happiness one of the 7 signs of the end of the world?
Or was that your happiness?
I gotta write better notes.

Leo, Spike: <giant bugs>
Thank Dog for Michigan winter! Kills ALL of those off! The worst we have are the current lady bug infestation and fish flys (and that last one is not even near me!).

Bud-Clare: <Congratulations on finally achieving paranoid schizophrenia.>

i founf a costume! when I went grocery shopping today, they still had some stuff. I found a cheap set of lady bug winds and antenae, so I'm gonna be a lady bug. I have a black outfit, and I'm gonna make some red spot and pin them to my shirt. Corny, yes, But better than nothing!

And I'm mad at my parents for not sending my halloween candy yet...they SAID last WEEK they were going to, and havent yet. But that's a whole different story.

Happy Halloween, everyone! The house is decorated, the candy bowls are full, scary ol' George is sitting on the porch with a cauldron full of still-packaged spare Happy Meal toys, and after school I will be dressing Becca up as a vampire. She's been practicing all week ;)

I am disappointed at the general lack of interest in getting my friends to go out tonight. Looks like I'll be inside eating what's left of Liz's cake. You all are welcome to come by and *give* me candy.

Imzadi: <Stupid berkeley weather. I swear it was HOT just a week ago. Niamh, this is all your fault> Bwhahahahahahaha! Sorry about that. And this week, it's been warmer than usual in Balteeemore ;)

Hmmm, I have an idea: For all your good weather needs, donate money to the weather queen! ;)

Mooncat: <46% lazy... hmmm But at least my breasts are nice *^_^*> Hehe, always a good thing.

Andrea: <Wow, I'm only 34% lazy! I though I was MUCH worse, sicne I'm a big procrastinator who sits at the computer all day> I would've thought that I'd get less than 60% since I'm working my butt off everyday. Maybe I was, freshman year. <One thing I wonder, how does donation of blood factor into this?> It's Thespark.com. Nothing has to make sense. Have fun with their Purity test (btw, I need to take that again) <I'd donate, but I can't (I only weight like 107, the cut off it either 110 or 115).> Heck, I can't even get a simple blood test without passing out. This summer made the 7th time that's happened ;)

Though I think it was the cat burger that really made me go over the top. >:) I was also confused when it asked about my breast, though lacking them, but was too lazy to inspect whether I clicked female or not. Though if I had breast or someone elses that would be nice.

Andrea -- a sheet can make a nice Toga, if you have a pair of sandles why not go Roman? If you club, dig out your kitty ears, take an eye brow pencil and draw a few quick kitty whiskers, and dress in solid black for instant Halloween Cat. Or if you have no ears, but do have enough hair, make little buns on each side of your head for kitty ears. meow!

Those are my two suggestions.

46% lazy... hmmm But at least my breasts are nice *^_^*

Well HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

I'll go celebrate my faux Birthday. My real one is on Christmas Eve, but that date sucks for b-days because my friends are always away with their own families that night and people give you one gift a year as your Christmas AND Birthday gift, so you are majorly short changed on prezzies.

Tonight my friends are taking me out to dinner (score!) and to a few haunted houses (whee!!!) and I will prezzies (uber squee!!!) and LOTS OF CANDY!!!! (FERRET SHOCK!!!)

Got a new Gargoyles Script!!! Yay!!! "Grief", aka "Sins of the Father", "Avatar" and something else I forget because I left it upstairs. Will be reading it later.

Tru Calling started last night, with Eliza Dusku as the lead character, a young woman who works at a morgue and for reasons unknown to her is able to relive an entire day to try and save a person from dying. Part "Sixth Sense" and part "Ground Hog Day" and part "Run, Lola, Run"-- it's just fun to watch her run really fast as she tries to beat the ticking clock.

My kitten is still adorable and so affectionate, but today I'll talk to my friend who dropped her on me and see if he had any luck locating whoever lost her in OKC. eek!!!

I don't need another kitten, but I really love little Isis. sigh...

*blows kitty kisses*

Revel> <<Gside, looks like you had the right idea>>: Of course I did. Who in their right mind would doubt me? Besides everyone. But we don't have to worry about that here.
<<she has no desire or is incapable of reading the images as a story>>: Some names I stole from Understanding Comics: Lynd Ward (woodcuts), Frans Masereel (more woodcuts), Max Ernst (A Week of Kindness), and apparently monet had some series that were supposed to go in spacial series.

Chimaraz: [Okay, I'm new here and just started reading the TGS Gargoyles series.]

Welcome. *points to jar on the mantle* don't forget to deposit your sanity upon entry.

[ I just got to season 2 and one thing has been bothering me.]

Just one thing?

[The Unseelie keep refering to both humans and Gargoyles as younger races, but aren't the fae themselves the youngest race? Doesn't the chronological evolutionary order go Gargs, humans and THEN fae? I could see the fae reguarding Gargs and humans as weaker races, or some such because of their mortality, but aren't they both technically older races? ]
By Greg Weisman's account, yes. However- and I haven't checked the dates to see if its true- there is a chance that TGS developed the Fae as the eldest race, and that those "younger races" comments were in place before the revelation that in Weismanian continuity they were the last to develop. Same reason that Sata and the twins aren't "Katana" and an elder brother/younger sister set.

TGS used what it new at the time, and it would be silly to change what we had simly because it deviates from Greg's Master Plan; it's never going to be identical to what is in his head no matter how close we try to stick to his plans for the series.

oh, and I just noticed Leo said all of that, and much more concisely than me. oh well.

Gside, looks like you had the right idea. A talkative week it is.
*small sort of rant about same old stuff*
Once again my Art Department has depressed me. If anyone has visited the sketch section on my site they would have seen a series of sketches I called Project Belides. The idea "originally" to bring a meeting point of the kind of art I do, which is more illustrative base, and what they think of as "Fine Art" Don't ask me what they think "fine Art" is I honestly couldn't give a good answer. But anyhow, so the idea was to have a linear set of paintings that is about 30 ft or so thet reads like a murual, some sections cut out and other over lapping. But the key, for me at least, was to keep it in order.
That is until my teacher decided that maybe it would better if things were moved around and blah blah blah. "It would be more visually appealing than the way you have it." So esentially what she has told me without actually saying it is, that she has no desire or is incapable of reading the images as a story and would rather just make it look pretty. Waht this tells me is that she does not give a damn about what ever idea or reason I had, which was to tell the story, but is more interested in materials and methods. I am so sick of this crap.
*end that*

Lain- sorry I was not up at 4 or five in the morning, but that sounded really creepy.

Spike- *breaks out Texas accent* Don't cho' worry ma'am, I think the lil' lady will get t' see them there boogers soon enough. *clicks safety off of flame thrower*

GJ- You broke out the ol' scottish accent out on the newbies. And no one brought the sanity jar which is sadly collecting dust.

Leo- the worse part about the fly buggers is when you spray them and they take off. they they got to fly around and kick and wallow.

Gside- <<Donuts, Guns and Daycare>> yes sadly this is a real sign, or combination of signs but close enough together in a strip center. If I knew how to get back there I'd take a picture of it.

Think I've blabed enough for the day

Re the "Third Race" business:

Greg Weisman mentioned that the Third Race/Fair Folk/Oberati post-dated the creation of humans and gargoyles only after we'd written those "younger races" mentions; it's one of those unintended contradictions of Greg's Master Plan due to his revelations about it coming after our own stories, like Duval's identity (Percival in the Master Plan, Lancelot in TGS), Merlin's parentage (the son of Oberon in the Master Plan, the son of Madoc in TGS), and the names of Brooklyn's family (Katana, Nashville, Tachi, and Fu-dog in the Master Plan, Sata, Graeme, Ariana, and Nudnik in TGS).

As for the race being specifically mentioned as being "the Third", I'd always assumed that that was because it was the third race to be introduced into the series (since they first showed up in Season Two, while humans and gargoyles were on stage in Season One).

Incidentally, the "younger races" bit was actually a borrowing (or theft, take your pick) from "Babylon 5", where the Shadows and Vorlons used the same term for humans, Centauri, Narns, etc.

And the dragons don't have anything to do with Greg's "Lost Race"; we'd inserted them in TGS before Greg had even mentioned it. (Also, in Greg's own plans, the Lost Race is extinct in the present day; there are still dragons around in the TGS Universe, such as Apep and Quetzalcoatl, though they prefer to keep to themselves these days.)

V< Also, Greg's never confirmed or denied that the Lost Race are dragons. Seeing as dragons are a part of most mythical-fantastical settings, it was a given they'd appear in TGS, with or without any clues from Greg. >

I'm not saying that what I was saying is that both the tgs writers and Greg Weisman indepedently developed the idea of a race that preceded the other three races. The idea of dragons as another sentient race in the tapestry on the other hand has been in gargoyles fanfiction since day one.

And when I'm -really- lazy, I don't even type my name.

Question> '3rd race' could be interpreted as simply being the extra race no one really thinks/knows about. It doesn't necessarily indicate who evolved first (in which case, yeah, they'd be the 4th race). Also, Greg's never confirmed or denied that the Lost Race are dragons. Seeing as dragons are a part of most mythical-fantastical settings, it was a given they'd appear in TGS, with or without any clues from Greg.

roaches> They say the Bronx is the allergy capitol of the US because of all the roaches we have here. One of the giant ones visited me right after I moved in. You can't imagine how hard it is to go to sleep when you can hear it skitter across the floor and through the papers in your desk at night. The worst thing was that when I finally caught it, it didn't run away from me, it ran STRAIGHT AT ME. The big ones seem to have no fear.

Leo<I think that's what is says at "Ask Greg". I think he also mentions the the fae/3rd race were *created* by the 1st and 2nd races. There is also a "Lost Race." >

Actually he says that the Children evolved from the Will o Wisps that we see in Pendragon.

Also how exactly did the TGS writers know about a fourth race when Greg hadn't yet revealed the existence of the Lost Race when Apep and the dragons were written into Timedancer and Gargoyles.

<Over the course of the series TGS has done their best to match Greg's "Master Plan" as he reveals more of it. But sometimes there are early TGS plot points that can't be ignored, so compromises have to be made. >

Yes, but the material about the Children being the third race came from the original episodes.

Maybe they mean younger in the sense that the members of those races don't live very long. Since every member of the two races is (comparatively) young, you could kind of say that the races as a whole are young. Kind of.

I am currently moderately happy because I recently found the entire F3. But it looks like I'll have to grab an ogg player.

Lain> <<theres cockroaches. big, fat ones>>: Eh, cockroaches don't really bother me, unless they make noise like our yearly infestation of crickets.

Siryn> <<sorry.. a million things happening at once again>>: Quite alright, just grated on me a bit.

Gunjack> <<the Gargoyles world kinda tends to stand science on its head>>: You're just upset you couldn't get me to fit enough hydrogen on Hyena to make her do much.

Over at ASK GREG, it was specified that Gargoyles and fae did indeed evolve (whether they believe in it or not) and that the fae evolved soemtime after humans who evolved sometime after Grags (though what that exactly means is up to interpretation. One could argue if that means after modern humans or after any humans, which could mean Homo habilis or any other relative with a Homo infront of their name). I was just getting a bit perturbed by the frequent use of 'younger races' when a simple 'mortal races' or 'weaker races' would suffice. Of course, if the Unseelie mistakenly believe that they existed before humans and Gargoyles, if the opposite is in fact true, well then that just shows what they know :). Now I'm just rambling, aren't I?

P.S. I'm based in Ohio right now, but I'm originally from Philly. And it's lass.

Chimaraz<<The Unseelie keep refering to both humans and Gargoyles as younger races, but aren't the fae themselves the youngest race?>> I beleive that was written before "Ask Greg" had dealt with that issue. Or maybe they'd just like to believe they were first. ;-)
<<Doesn't the chronological evolutionary order go Gargs, humans and THEN fae?>>I think that's what is says at "Ask Greg". I think he also mentions the the fae/3rd race were *created* by the 1st and 2nd races. There is also a "Lost Race."

Over the course of the series TGS has done their best to match Greg's "Master Plan" as he reveals more of it. But sometimes there are early TGS plot points that can't be ignored, so compromises have to be made.

I hope I didn't confuse you with all this. ;-)

Incredible! An... Insightful Question! Where do you come from, lad (or lassie)? o.O

And as for an answer... Uh... Do the Fey believe in Evolution? For that matter, was it ever specified that Gargoyles evolved either? Evolution is a scientific theory, but the Gargoyles world kinda tends to stand science on its head...

Okay, I'm new here and just started reading the TGS Gargoyles series. I just got to season 2 and one thing has been bothering me. The Unseelie keep refering to both humans and Gargoyles as younger races, but aren't the fae themselves the youngest race? Doesn't the chronological evolutionary order go Gargs, humans and THEN fae? I could see the fae reguarding Gargs and humans as weaker races, or some such because of their mortality, but aren't they both technically older races?

I just started reading Lysistrata for my Western Civ. class. I've only read about 10 pages thus far, but damn is it funny! And I've decided to forgive my professor for picking on me, just for assigning us this...no teacher I have ever known would ever think about making us read something so funny with so many swears and sexual references. I have to write a paper on it too, at least it will be a bit easier knowing I'm going to enjoy this!

So how much of the future visions that Arthur saw were foreshadowing for future seasons and how much of it was just Mordred's own invention?

Mooncat > Cute kitten. Kinda reminds me of Nermal from the "Garfield" comics.

Fire Storm > Those rabbits must live in Southern California.

Random semi-related comment > Everyone I know out in California right now lives in one of the towns that are surrounded by flames. And I've noticed they're all terribly nonchalant about it, too. Of course, I guess we are the same way here in the midwest about the snow and thunderstorms and other phenomena typical to our region. But then again, a blizzard rarely forces you to stand guard over your house all night with the garden hose.

Kathy / Revel > Actually, like scissors, posts without points are much safer, especially if you're running through the CR as I am right now. ;)

Off to work. At least they've taken us off overtime, so we're back to a regular 40-hour schedule now. Though with the end of Daylight Savings Time, it's still just dark out when I get home as it was last week.

Just a quick post to say what I thought of the latest story.
Flashbacks or midevil times?
Alternate timelines with death, destruction, and chaos?
My kind of story!
But the final confrontation with Mordred seemed too anti-climatic. The ending just kinda fell flat with me (The stuff with Sybil was fine).

AVALON MISTS FYI

I'm pushing back the opening date to the 5th of November (as opposed to the first). (Due to personal time constraints on my part which I apologize for in advance.)

The Winter addition will still open on the 5th, just need a little more breathing space for coding.

Also, Avalon Mists is looking for people to help out, if you wanna help out on staff, please email us letting us know. I can't personally work on the spring addition, so if anyone wants to help out with compiling the articles to html, please feel free to apply.

Leo> <<You LIE>>: Same install, and I'd say the blue screen rate steadied out at the first year. Maybe it's something to do with not bringing IE too far out on the web.

Fire Storm> <<And if it is a shag carpet, mammals>>: I'd say reptiles more than lizards. They tend to stay smaller.
<<Fried Twinkies on a stick? Fried hamburgers on a stick?>>: Frying makes everything better, and putting it on a stick makes everything better. So those are doubly good.
<<Ah. Yeah. Pain in the @$$ to find it, believe me>>: Not really, just find it on it's own at a set time. You can alway order Omaha Steaks.
<<My problem is paying the $120 for the tank security deposit>>: Perhaps it was because I was getting it short term for a school, but since I put it on a credit card, they didn't take a deposit.
<<Oh, definitely indulging>>: Well, at least your brain is in good pedophillic company with Lewis Carroll.
<<Why the h3!! not?>>: It was a year out of date, and we didn't have a good nozzle on the thing, but it wasn't getting good enough pressure to fully inflate a balloon.
<<And you say that as a side note>>: The way that place works (they kind of promised him to treat him as normal as possible), it is. That, and all he did was try to turn while holding a spinning weighted bicycle wheel. Now we made his son do all the dangerous things.
<<We really need more people in this CR>>: I don't know. I think it might be good enough if we got more volume and regularity from who's still here.

Lain> <<people put "u"s in the right places in words>>: British sympathizing imaginary country...
<<still have FLU OF DEATH>>: You're really allergic to the USA, aren't you?

Niamhgold> <<Also trying to shield myself from the depressive folks>>: An activity I heartily reccommend.
<<Which version?>>: 98. Still runs everything, and Microsoft wasn't trying to pry as far into what I'm doing.
<<I'm up for some good Linux, myself>>: I'd like to get a box of my own eventually.
<<I would happily take comments, suggestions, etc>>: Wasn't sure if the kid was suposed to be yawning, saying something, or what while his mouth was doing the o thing. That, and every action figure type thing needs kung fu grip.
<<for the four weeks of winter break, no one can be in my apartment building>>: Granted, I did live in campus housing all five years, but they kicked me out for every break.

Revel> <<the volume has died off quite a lot since most of the offensive smart asses have left or decreased their visitation>>: See, we just need to offend people... right brainers are stupid.

DPH> <<Are they saying that the entire Earth is the size of a locker compared to other beings or that the galaxy is the size of a locker compared to other beings?>>: Does it really matter? It may be a good bunch of orders of magnitude, but we're still tiny comparatively.
<<what's the worst case scenario of what could happen if I tried playing a DVD on my pc?>>: It'll think there's something unreadable in there and ignore it. DVDs have to be built to withstand greater forces than CDs, so nothing's going to blow up.

Vashkoda> <<The Sorceror's Apprentice>>: And Journey of the Sorceror is still open should a change be desired.

Andrea> <<I don't have the conversion factors in so it can do the math, it just have temp code that outputs the came line so it'll compile>>: You're not converting the input to an int then back out, just a straight echo? Or do you already have a proper format checker?

Mooncat - what a cute kitty! Looks pretty much EXACTLY like my Lola when she was a kitten, only Lola's fur was a bit longer (we though she was going to be a long-haired, but her hair IS kinda on the longer side for a short-hair, and it's very fine and thin, but her coat is very thick. You can just imagine how much she sheds...) Lola's eyes are green though, but depending on the light, they do turn gold.

Now Lola is kinda fat though..but hey, she's 7 years old!

Time for me to shut up and finish my damn java homework (yes, im still stuck on that damn roman numeral calculator! I have it working, but I don't have the conversion factors in so it can do the math, it just have temp code that outputs the came line so it'll compile).

**********************
TGS: FftE> I really liked this one. Very detailed descriptions, and the characters really came to life. I liked how Jennifer was constantly reminded of how she and Arthur live in different worlds (made me think of G&E). I also liked how Arthur and the group addressed the question of what would come after the Grail quest (and it seems an even bigger quest awaits them). I found it interesting that Arthur reacted to this uncertainty with rage (still, it made him look human, which is always good in a hero). I also appreciated the ambiguous nature of right and wrong, a theme that began in "B&W". The arguments made on all sides were convincing (Ed must be acing his debate class). It was good to see outside characters take sides we aren't used to seeing (like the WK feeling sympathy towards Morgana). I also liked Arthur's remark that if he earns the Grail, it will be "despite and not because of the atrocities I have committed", and how he has already paid for his crimes with the destruction of his kingdom. I wonder if Ed stuck this in here after all those arguments were made in the CR that Arthur wasn't worthy after the whole 'drowning babies' affair. I still found it ironic when Merlin told Artur his 'power' was in his moral code, yet at least Arthur admitted to straying from that code at times, which always led to disaster. It was a little mean for Merlin to bring up Arthur letting some things "fester and tear down the kingdom". Like Merlin's perfect....

question marks> That exchange between Arthur & Jen at the beginning was confusing at first because I wasn't sure if it was attached to the 'previously' section or not. It also gave away at once what this fic would center on--I'm not sure if that was desired or not. I also didn't find that the title fit the fic that well (and I kept thinking of 'Flight of the Navigator', which is a whole different story). I mean, they weren't trying to run away from the White Knight, and he wasn't really an 'enchanter'--not like the Magus or Archmage or Merlin. Also, I wonder why the group felt okay about accepting the WK's help once they found out Duval was responsible. How is this different from accepting help from Duval himself? (after how quickly Duval's help and the Nazi info was turned down, I was surprised they so easily fell to temptation here). Also, if only depressed people could see the WK's kingdom, how did the others in Arthur's group see it? (or we they all suffering from depression on some level?). And if the WK always kept his visor down, how was he able to eat? ;)

Misc. comments> Did anyone else misread that opening sentence as "let's find Professor Oak and get a lift to Fen Island"? ;) (though we never found out who this Prof Fen is, or why they wanted to go there). I also liked how Griff used an adaptation of Gandalf's quote to Frodo. I also found it amusing to hear Mary dis the current government (I can almost hear Ed's voice). I liked that Mary's cell ring was "The Sorceror's Apprentice" (though how did Jenn get her number?). My fave quote, "for a detective you don’t seem terribly good at… er, detecting things." lol

Ugh, horrible weekend! First I feel like I'm gonna die (I don't think I've been quite so sick in my life), and then when I get over that, I check out my site's bandwidth usgae for the month, only to find out, it's way over the top. I think my hosting company forgot about me (they've changed their service and website drastically int he past few months), since as soon as I hit 100%, I'm supposed to be put on a freeze until my next re-set, or I pay for extra bandwidth. But my site is still running, abeit very slowly loading. Lucky for me, the 2 hostees sucking up the bandwidth are good online friends of mine, and have been very understanding when I kinda yelled at them to take off their downloads for a bit.

The wacky dreams continue. Last night, I had one of those really vivid ones, though I wasn't myself. It was one of those I'm-living-someone-elses-life sort of things (I'd tell you who I "was", but I fear it will make people look upon me as a bigger dweeb than before). Very freaky, yet facinating at the same time. These dreams have like taken over my life, and I have no rational explination for it. Does anyone have any sort of clue? I have no knowledge of dream analyzation whatsoever...

I. Want. My. Sanity. Back. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling more depressed than normal.

I have a couple of questions. I watched MIB II over the weekend and I'm trapping to understand the ending. Are they saying that the entire Earth is the size of a locker compared to other beings or that the galaxy is the size of a locker compared to other beings?

I tried to watch "The Matrix" over the weekend, but I couldn't find it in VHS form. (I'm a little scared about using my computer's CD-ROM to play DVDs. To allievate my fears, what's the worst case scenario of what could happen if I tried playing a DVD on my pc?)

I returned MIB II and decided to rent the movie called . . . The Pianoist. I may talk about that later.

Some of you may be mean when I am saying that I have deliberately working at making my cats better mouse hunters. This winter I want the grand sum of *0* mouse problems.

Meanwhile, it's cold in Arkansas. Brrr. Yo, Winterwolf, where are ye?

Ok, I will mop my floor *AND* fix myself a nice warm dinner. Hmm. Oatmeal sounds like a good idea about now just to warm me up. No, I'm going to fix something much more . . complex tasting. Time to merge a couple of recipes, one completely original, another found in a cookbook.

I got an 89 on a MacroEconomics test. Normally, that wouldn't be that exciting except I showed up about *15* minutes before class was about to *end* and completed the test.

With that, I leave you with an image I drew using my fingers ;).

Just kidding. I managed to use my pc to capture what's on the screen of my calculator.

Paint, class, food, sleep and talk to Spacebabie. Yess I kid you not that is what I do and have been doign allllllll sememster. These last two weekends being the exceptions. The weekend before last went and hung out with Lain and GJ and first got to see all her cats (minus Charlie who is on vacation) And we went to the Texas State Fair. I had actually never gone before, and I really liked the auto show and the classic car coral.
This las weekend we wen to a Gun Show and GJ, natually, drooled on everything, but I learned a few things and it was fun. Plus I didn't have to pay for dinner those nights so YAY to GJ's mother!

Lain- <<plus it was new york, and EVERYONE gets murdered in new york!>> That's why it's better to be oot 'n boot, eh? <<and people put "u"s in the right places in words.>> You killed my spell check. ;)

Fire Storm- <<They must be stopped. ALL of them>> I had a snappy response when I saw this but forgot it... I'll just laugh at you in a friendly way. <<We really need more people in this CR.>> Oooooh Yes,, the volume has died off quite a lot since most of the offensive smart asses have left or decreased their visitation.

Mooncat- We once had a cat named Morris who was so old, or lazy, or what have you that he would sit ont he hood of your car, you start up and begin to back up and he did not move. Just stared at you like, "What?" My dad had to check the bed of his truck to make sure he was not taking the cat to work... again.

Leo- <<And might I emphasize the coincidence of "Big" and "Purple Guy>> well some people are man enough for purple ;)

Lynati- I like that quote. It fits well with your Brooklyn, God I'd never want to go what he goes through.

FS: <We need more people in this CR> Believe you me, if I weren't so busy and trying to find ways to do work off of my computer, I would ;) Hopefully around late November and through winter break I'll be around more, since October has been heck. Though I did just come back from a week of fall break relaxation and am in much better shape ;) I'm also dealing with what I suppose is senioritis ((1) feeling that rest is more important than overworking, and (2) wanting to get the heck out of here since Baltimore's a death trap ;)). Also trying to shield myself from the depressive folks.
<Like earrings, toenail clippings, and broken glass> In odd circumstances, floss.
<Fried Twinkies on a stick? Fried hamburgers on a stick?> In Philadelphia, there are now fried Tastykakes on a stick...::shudder::
<Strive for the other 75%!> Currently, I feel I am only 95% evil, and maybe 97% selfish.

Gside: <And I've been running mostly smoothly on one install for around three years now.> Which version? I'm up for some good Linux, myself.

Mooncat: <Hmmm... Have had yet another kitten bestowed on me> Congrats! I guess this is the time of year for animal multiplication.
Bet you didn't know that animals could multiply. Especially hamsters. They use woodchips. ;)

If anyone's interested in what I've been putting together, you can subject yourself to a parody ad I made for a building opening on campus ;) It's rough, and though I don't plan on working any more on it (since the opening is over), I would happily take comments, suggestions, etc. (You'll have to let it load once through, or keep it from playing as it loads).

My parents just let me know that we've adopted another Newfoundland dog, this scraggly-puppy thing. I think it's name is Dot. Double the hair in the house, but I guess it's cute enough for me to ignore that ;)
They've also just informed us that for the four weeks of winter break, no one can be in my apartment building. I mean, I understand that cuts the cost of maintenance folks, desk guards, etc...but, really.

Be back later, from time to time

Thanks for all the well wishes. Both twins are doing well. I'd prefer if they'd sleep through the night and give their mom and me a bit break, but as the chicken said, "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it."

It's doubtful I'll get to review any more pendragon stories. So let me just say that I'm heartened by the direction Pendragon has taken this season. It has taken the quest mold to an art-form. I hope we can see quality like this in the other series soon.

sean>> yeah, might still be far away but.. at least the exchange rate wont be so bad. going to NY on canadian dollars was.. not fun. plus it was new york, and EVERYONE gets murdered in new york! not like canada, where things are all friendly and stuff and people put "u"s in the right places in words. ;)

mooncat>> we just adopted a new kitty, too. i was fostering for the local humane society and we ended up keepin him! (i couldn't help it!!!! hes too cute!!!) hes a siamese mix, ghostly white fur with some very pale brown patches, and stripey grey highlights on his ears and tail. ice blue eyes and the cutest little kitten schnozz ever! he has one little pink toe on each of his front paws, the other toes are that sorta raspberry-chocolate colour. hes reeeally pretty and such a cuddle-bug, sleeps on my head! about 3-4 months old :) he's on here:
http://richardsonhumanesociety.com/adoption-area.htm
second kitten down, on the right hand side. his name is "dante." further down on the page on the left, "pure raven" (the black guy with the pink collar) is going to be my next foster. hopefully, i wont end up keeping him, too!

*going back to bed. *coughhackschniff* still have FLU OF DEATH!!!* maybe ill be able to breathe later.. one never knows :P

Gside: <Probably carpet. little things can easily hide in there without your knowlegde.>
Like earrings, toenail clippings, and broken glass.
And if it is a shag carpet, mammals
<You mean they actually want you to work?>
I know! I mean, we have a few T3 lines, and they expect me to WORK!
<Putting anything on a stick makes it better, and fire's already good>
Fried Twinkies on a stick? Fried hamburgers on a stick?
But fire is ALWAYS good! (unless of course YOU are on fire. Then fire bad to you... but fun for others to watch)
<Yes but little sparkys are fun but not really impressive, and big sparkys are too danger>
Well, not exactly DANGEROUS... painful yet enjoyable, yes, but not dangerous
<He probably just doesn't want to go through the trouble of thinking of where to get it>
Ah. Yeah. Pain in the @$$ to find it, believe me.
<You know nitrogen is really cheap, $15 for a tall cylinder>
My problem is paying the $120 for the tank security deposit. Because of that, I only have the 1 CO2 tank instead of N2, O2, acetylene, and argon
<It wouldn't stop them, you know that.>
True. "Kids, don't try this at home" is the #1 way to get kids to try it at home
<For the Pocky or being able to indulge its lolicon?>
Oh, definitely indulging. Plus, if I hit it on the right day, I can catch a Godzilla attack.
<the hydrogen we had didn't work too well>
Why the h3!! not?
<And I did get to perform for and with Bruce Springsteen>
And you say that as a side note.
<No, you must go to the source, Clown College. They say they've closed it down, but we know better. Don't we?>
Oh yes... oh yes...
They must be stopped. ALL of them. And, Dog help me, if I have to nuke every college in this country until their little red noses glow green until the end of time, so be it.
<But you can't forget the others. One was even by here recently>
But I must start somewhere.

Jaden: <I have the mines tied to giant bananas.>
Any Darwin award winning humans yet?
<People say I'm completely evil and I say, "No, the test said only 25% evil.">
Strive for the other 75%!
<Everyones remembered to change their clocks right?>
Oh yeah. Got me another hour of overtime!

We really need more people in this CR.

Leo> <<I expect to have to do a clean Windows install about once every two months>>: And I've been running mostly smoothly on one install for around three years now.

Sean> <<when where are these "The Gathering"s i've heard of>>: They change every year, but next one's in Montreal (so you'll be in luck next year), and they're held mid to late summer. But there's a link on the front of g-f.org that brings you to the official site.

aaawwww shoot *~_~* Missed the top ten again. Oh well, just got back from a day of helping yet another friend pack up her entire household for a major move. Her husband got a job in TX to work as a translator of Japanese manga (translating Japanese to English) -- it's the same company that puts out the English version of NewType. Anyhoo... we absolutely PACKED the U-haul truck they are taking, and it was like playing Tetris real life... leave no empty space. They are taking Hiro's Porshe on a trailer attached to the truck. That should be interesting, especially as the kitties (they have two Bengal cats I bred for them) will be in the Porshe. Cat carriers going in the front seat, I think. eek!!!

I'm so tired and achy now. eep! But I rewarded myself with a nice cinnamon roll when I got home, and some fresh coffee. I ground up some Chocolate Velvet coffee beans and made a really fresh cup.

Hmmm... Have had yet another kitten bestowed on me.

A friend of mine who is an Air Force captain is teaching a class in OKC, which is during the week days, so he drives down on Sundays and then drives back home on Friday evenings. Because on Saturdays he opens his home for anime showings. He travels several hundred miles on these trips and this time he had a tiny hitch hiker.

In OKC he saw this little kitten go under his car while he was on base, then when he got set to come home, he didn't see the kitten and assumed it had gone away.

WRONG!

Somehow the kitten crawled into something, a wheel well or the bumper or what have you, and traveled all the way home with him. He not only came home, but went shopping and described several BUMPY places he went fast over. He found out about the kitten when he and another friend heard her mewing in his garage. Same kitten. New city, new state.

My friend is not affectionate to kittens. She was so obviously a people cat though, he didn't want to just dump her outside. So he brought her to the one person in our group with the neon "I'M A SUCKER FOR CATS" sign perpetually over her head...

She really is an adorable kitten though. A solid dark grey, like graphite, that shines silver. Incredibly fine hair, almost like baby duck down, only longer. Dark grey nose pad, and her tender little paw pads are a reddish brown, like raspberry chocolate Jelly Belly jelly beans.

I've named her Isis. She purrs nonstop and is probably between 6 to 8 weeks old. Not yet eating solid food, but she dives into the canned stuff, which is a blessing. I was half afraid I'd have to bottle feed her.

My friend is going back to OKC tonight and will check around to see if there is a family who lost her. If he can't find the people who lost her, she'll probably be a permanent member of my herd o' felines. I've already dosed her with Revolution, bathed her, and she's playing really well with my older kittens, who all have just gotten the last of their first set of booster shots. They think she's a wonderful play toy. The one solid dark grey kitten in a herd of snow and copper leopard spotted cats, she does stand out.

Well, back to my own house chores...

muchly sighs
