Dezi> <<Why should I have to miss potentially important phone calls>>: And another difference there. Probably helped by my not knowing many people out of my time zone. And a couple hours tend to be enough, depending on how much it was spurred by boredom.
<<And one called Urusei something>>: Urusei Yatsura. How could I forget about Lum. THere's just somthing about a girl constantly in a tiger striped bikini.
<<unless that's to which you were referring>>: Nope, I was talking about Rumiko Takahashi Presents, which features her short works.
<<I've never seen a Woodrow>>: Nor have I, as they're only used by the government when they have to give someone fat sacks of cash money.
Congratulations Lain and Gunjack. And good luck getting Gunjack to remember the date.
Warpmind> <<The place was, to put it mildly, chilly>>: Being a Norwegian chilly, that would be rather cold here, and $@!# freezing by Imzadi.
<<it's a wide band, with an inscription we all know and love>>: But it's only supposed to have the inscription in fire.
<<But it WOULD be great for jumpstarting cars>>: You'd need to have a rather large apparatus to make sure the charge isn't caught by the frame first.
<<I have so few things I can rub in these days>>: There's a dirty joke in there somewhere, but the pharsing is looking too awkward right now.
<<Don't ask what I've been doing in my absence>>: I didn't, I just asked who would be in a position to know.
<<But no, no women were involved. At least, not in THAT way>>: Why'd you have to go and say that. We could have speculated on your lust filled encounter with the supermodel triplets.
<<other kitchen appliances afterwards>>: And other "appliances"?
Kjay> <<do it with a strong base then an acid because while doing the deed the chemical renders itself inert>>: Either an acid or a base turns at least more inert after it's reacted.
Fire Storm> <<But to make up for it not being ritual or suicide, I'll just go on a killing spree>>: Sounds good, but will you stop to give them an intelligence test first?
<<But should they wear schoolgirl outfits, or will they end up raping themselves?>>: Couldn't we program them to only start in the presence of something else?
<<Chess is ok, but it more tells military strategy over general intelligence>>: And bridge is fr four players.
<<I have the cameras all set and the pay site up and running>>: How are we splitting the profits for this, then?
<<You said the S word! We do not tolerate that kind of language in this CR>>: We can't banish comparatives, they can be used in so many fun ways. E.g. "Grab the nitro; TNT is safer."
<<MacBeth/Arthur: King of Spain (Moxy Fruvous)>>: But MacBeth is doing well for himself. Of course Arthur may still need to work at the Pizza Pizza.
Krista> <<if it's not country, I probably don't know it>>: You don't know Canadian bands? Oh dear oh dear, how could this happen.
<<unless it's a really big band>>: Good at least you know Big Bad Voodooo Daddy, the Dorsey brothers, and the like.
Na zdorov'ya.

Z: What about "Young Love" by Wynonna Judd? I love that one! My sister and I do duets on this all the time. Melanie, my sister, can sound exactly like her. I've never heard "Fallen Embers" before. Then again, if it's not country, I probably don't know it...unless it's a really big band, like NSYNC or somebody. Who's Enya, anyway?

For those of you who like the World of Darkness, check out my link. For those of you who don't... well, check it anyway!
They poke quite a bit of fun at the great White Wolf.
songs: (absolutely not serious. Except for Goliath and Elisa)
Angela and the Trio: "Bad Touch" (The Bloodhound Gang)
(I once had the idea of making that into a music video... but I have no models. Or time. Or 3d talent. Just a mind that makes up this weird stuff)
Elisa and Goliath: "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" (Louis Armstrong?)
Godiva: "Sexbot" (Parody of Sexpot)
MacBeth/Arthur: King of Spain (Moxy Fruvous)
Demona (Christine's anyway): "Don't let my son go down on me" (Parodied Elton John, as sung by Demona with the Weird Sisters on backup)

Ahhhhh. Was a good week.
Sorry, I've been gone. I had Spacebabie here with me and as distance relationships go we use the time together.
Now she's back in Florida. :(
So I've missed a lot, will have to catch up.
*throws rice* Congrats to Lain and GJ!

Gside: <You shame me.>
Since I have shamed myself too, I shall commit ritual suicide.
But since I don't want to die, I shall commit ritual homicide.
But since I am not into rituals, I will just kill someone random.
But to make up for it not being ritual or suicide, I'll just go on a killing spree.
<But bases also remove the dirty surface, and turn already existing oils there into soap for additional cleaning>
And if you add the right acids to the oils, you can get explosives.
<So should we send the hermaphroditic lesbian catgirls with tentacles after them>
Oh yes. Definitely. But should they wear schoolgirl outfits, or will they end up raping themselves?
<I've heard one person suggest croquet, but that's just dexterity>
And sports are generally unimportant. Chess is ok, but it more tells military strategy over general intelligence. And standardized tests (SAT, ACT, ETC) are fairly easy to overcome... Hmm...
<I'm going to have to vote that legal>
Good! Now... let's get it on! I have the cameras all set and the pay site up and running!
DPH: <Yea, but in Texas, aren't they installing an express lane for the Death Penalty?>
Yes, but if the crime is committed in Canada, Texas can't kill her!
Dezi: <I got bored so I painted my bathroom light aqua and discovered that semi-gloss paint sucks!>
Well, that's all and good, but I am at work!
Should have used glass paint!
Patrick: <Presenting a new fanfic from Madame Destine...>
Well, I was wondering when you were going to say something! I noticed it right after your post! Just finished it. Liked it! The ending (pre-epilogue) is not exactly the way I would have done it, but then again, I was never one to go with the status quo.
Liked the epilogue!

*GASP!* You said the S word! We do not tolerate that kind of language in this CR! :)

When I was in basic training the only time we didn't do PT
was when it was already pouring down rain. If we start PT
and it started pouring rain...oh well. I remember there were plenty of days when we had to do road marches in pouring rain.
Thank god it rarey rains in el paso otherwise we'll be in
big touble during pt *groans*
<Acid/Base>If you're going to clean something it's safer to
do it with a strong base then an acid because while doing the deed the chemical renders itself inert and can be safely flushed down the drain.

Well, that time of the, um, time again. I'm online, I'm posting, and my apartment finally has a temperature I can endure. (Came home after Christmas, and I'd forgotten the landlord to turn my heating on again a day or so in advance... The place was, to put it mildly, chilly.)

Green Baron: Your'e rubbing it in, aren't you? Well, in THAT case, I shall have to rub in the fact that the Norwegian Idol won the World Idol Contest. So NYAH! :P (I know, but I have so few things I can rub in these days...)
Gside: Don't ask what I've been doing in my absence. Just trust me on that... Don't ask. (But no, no women were involved. At least, not in THAT way...)
Lain and Gunjy: CONGRATS! Remember to post the wedding photos! :D And remember to bring a full account of toasters, food processors and other kitchen appliances afterwards, too. ;)

DPH:<Yea, but in Texas, aren't they installing an express lane for the Death Penalty? > Who ever said to off him in Texas. Do it in Illinois where the penalty is all screwed up and you'll just get a nice cozy blanket sentence.
Or just Canada.
Firestorm:<Bored now. So... what to do... > I got bored so I painted my bathroom light aqua and discovered that semi-gloss paint sucks!
Green Baron:<Richard Daley> Daley, crooked? Aw gawsh, just never!
<red button> Well, since you said something, I have now pressed both. Both are funny. Love the air-raid siren from Sauromon.
<but mainly it's the PT that I will never miss. > My dad says the Army has a pact with God, so that it'll never rain on a PT day, so as to cancel it. Especially in Ft. Gordon, GA, where the comment was made. And you know what? we were off base once, at the Korean church thing, and it poured and poured and my stepmom laughed at me cause I left my tennis shoes outside. But when we got back on base.. Everything was dry....
Gside:<Me, I'd just unplug the phone> But see, that's just giving in to the terrorists.
Why should I have to miss potentially important phone calls (like, say, at that hour, my dad) or, for that matter, pay SBC more money to put a messed up call screener on my phone. It just allows those morons to inconvenience me further. (Sorry, just ticked off at the idiots and the phone company).
<It's worth it. I'm there to root for m'boy. > Downloaded an ep. Will give it a try.
<and I believe she has an anthology series running now. > And one called Urusei something... unless that's to which you were referring.
<above Salmon > Salmon? Sorry, I've never seen a Woodrow.
My Dad called yesterday. Prolly the weekend of Jan. 23 I'll get to go to Colorado to see him. (!) :D I can't wait. But I've never flown on a plane all by myself. Always with someone. So that has me a bit freaked.
..Interesting note: Dad said when they found Saddam down in his little hole, he had a framed portrait of Ben Franklin with him (no not a $100 bill). Weird...

Hee hee. I just called the cops on some idiots that used to be friends of my boyfriend! They were prank calling me outta no where, 'cause they are jealous in a strange sorta way. Anyway, I have no patience for such idiots. Especially at 4 am, when I have to get up in three hours.
... I never called the cops on anyone before....
At work today, this lady in our seasonal dept. was up on a 10 ft scaffolding, handing down some furniture to me, and all of a sudden these tri-fold screens came falling on her, and they pushed her off and she fell. Underneath of her were some bushel baskets full of picture frames and some big boxes of some kinda crafty crap. She managed to miss all of that (well, she bounced off the boxes a little) and land flat on her back on the concrete floor. The awesome part was- she is completely ok! (well, except for some aches and pains and a scrapped elbow). After work she was gonna go get some "liquid pain killers". My boss chalked up her durability to the fact that she had a LOT of alcohol last nite for New Years. Still, I never saw anyone fall from so high up and just be fine.
Lain: Did you ever get a job at Hobby Lobby? (just curious).
Green Baron:<If I can get laid, maybe there's hope for you twoo > Thanks for sharing. ;)
<good, weird, or scary :) > Totally scary, man. :D
<News with Dan Rather :) > It was her! She attacked him back in the 80's!
<but I think its only eligible for po folks. > Dunno. Only news I got is that our "beloved" governor is crooked (surprise!) and that my grandparents grossly exaggerated teh amount of snow we got right before Cmas (none).
<That's the show by the creators of Ranma right? > Yeah, but I've never watched Ranma.
<Well, I imagine keigoogi (dog meat) is not made from cocker-spaniels. A secific breed is farmed and killed, plus it is considered a delicacy, but I'll still make my jokes :) > Thanks for the Kwanzaa. Kagogi (sp?) is one of the few words my step mom has taught me. Bagogi is cow meat, in case you wanna steak. Most of the others are random words. "_noun_ ju say yo" means bring me (whatever the noun is- usually coffee or something like that in my dad's house). Hadabagie means grandfather.....
Dottie-dog is growling at me saying that she is not a cocker spaniel, but rather a Springer Spaniel/lab, and "don't you forget it" (I'm just the messanger here)
The dog in Korea that is "farmed" is called the Chindo-kae. It is a REALLY smart breed from the island Chindo on the coast. Like these dogs are so smart, as a rule, they never have to be housebroken, they just figure it out. That and they are insanely loyal to their human. Jin (stepmom) told me that there are stories of the dog being given away, and then the dog tracks down its original owner 300 miles away. Also there are stories of not being able to remove the dogs from their owners if the owner dies. Since they adhere so much to one human, sometimes that loyalty comes off as aggression to other humans.
My dad said that eating them goes back to a legend where the king ate one as a fertility booster, so some of the people that stick to the old old ways will do that. Some people are just hungry. But as a whole, the breed is regarded as a national treasure, and only so many are allowed to leave Korea each year. They are really fuzzy. I want one! (to pet, not eat).
<Click on the red button for a laugh :) > Ahhh! creeeeeeepy!
<In 13 months, I'll be a civilian. Happy Dance! Woo hoo! Happy Dance!! > Two words: Stop Loss.
And as for the Demona/TV thing, I do bet that she would have some secret stupid show that she would never admit to being addicted to, a goofy comedy of some sort. I mean, funny is funny, no matter what the species.

The year 2004 begins and one thing pops to my mind:
In 13 months, I'll be a civilian. Happy Dance! Woo hoo! Happy Dance!!
I have discoveredmany things about myself in 2003:
I can love and I may have found one I can really trust. One who won't take advantage of me or manipualte me, or hurt me. And she doesn't find me obnoxious :)
I have also learned I am a Barry Manilowe fan, but is that good, weird, or scary :)
And for some encouragement to Warpmind and Gside: If I can get laid, maybe there's hope for you twoo ;)
And hopefully you won't suffer a massive guilt attack over it later.
New Year's Resolutions: Nope, not gonna make them. I never can keep up with them.
Demona's TV vieweing. I figure Demona views tv that affirms her worst opinions of humanity, like Jerry Springer or CBS News with Dan Rather :)

I don't mind banning the beef from one country for one case of mad cow, if I know it's because the country doesn't have adequate safeguards in place. But, on the other hand, if a country doesn't have adequate safeguards in place, then why in heck are we importing beef from there? To me, that's the really simple question.>> Nope, there's a simpler question. How does mad cow affect us?
Scrapple Face, one of my favorite staire blogs has c ute little article on it:
'Mad Cow' News Depresses Spinal Fluid, Brain Sales
(2003-12-30) -- Sales of America's dietary staples--cow spinal fluid and brain tissue--dropped significantly last week after the discovery of a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE or 'mad cow disease') in Mabton, Washington.
A quick survey of upscale cafes in the Seattle area showed a precipitous decrease in sales of spinal latte, a musky cocktail made from steamed spinal fluids and arabica beans.
Meanwhile, delicatessens throughout the city report declining demand for their formerly-popular brain-based foods.
"I used to love coming here for a cerebellum sandwich and a cup of spinal soup," said an unnamed deli customer, "But these news reports have got me spooked. I think I'm going to stick with tuna for a while, even though the mercury in tuna seems to make me unusually sensitive to temperature changes."
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a news release confirming the safety of the "vast majority of cow central nervous system foods."
"There is no cause for alarm," according to the USDA release. "Americans should continue to enjoy a normal diet, rich in cow spinal products, temporal lobes, cerebral cortices and medulla oblongata. Especially during the holidays, we encourage everyone to eat brain, drink spinal fluid and be merry."
The USDA will launch a public service advertising campaign later this week featuring young, hip celebrities singing:
"With the thoughts you'd be thinking,
You could be another Lincoln,
if you only ate a brain."

*Warpmind wanders in, looking incessantly smug.*
Hallo, gang. It appears my return to the CR was a timely one. What with the World Idol contest being concluded this first day of the new year, I'd like to feel smug. And a good show it was by all the contestants, too, IMO. And everyone who watched it on the 25th wanted to do things to the Polish judge that are prohibited by the Geneva Convention. Oh, well. Good show all around nonetheless.
In replies...
Gside: No, the only place I've tried my One Ring is around my two middle fingers. I try to vary it between my right and left hand, for the balance when I wear my Eye In The Pyramid ring, as well... There are no unnatural holes in my skin anywhere. And even if I COULD do the lightning trick, I wouldn't call myself Blue Thunder. Though, I might take commissions from drama groups and such...
Demona probably watches the news, and perhaps Discovery Channel and science shows. As for Xanatos... well... for sure, he's not watching special programmes starring certain blue-skinned redheads.
Well, that's it. *Walks out, feeling smug.*

2004 should be quite a year for anniversaries. It's the 10th anniversary of "Gargoyles", the 50th anniversary of the publication of the first two volumes of "The Lord of the Rings" (and coming right after the movies, at that), and the 100th anniversary of the St. Louis World's Fair of 1904. I think that the two main reasons why the room's been so quiet are:
1. Everybody's still resting during the holidays.
2. We haven't really hit upon anything to talk about this week.
I believe that the best way of getting a good discussion going, and keeping it going, is to make posts of a "Hunter's Moon" quality rather than of an "Angels in the Night" quality. Let me explain what I mean.
"Hunter's Moon" ended the second season of "Gargoyles" in a way so that, while the story could have ended there, there was room for more stories after that (the gargoyles being exposed to the world, Jon Canmore vowing revenge, etc.). "Angels in the Night", on the other hand, ended the series by closing all the doors and opening no new ones.
A "Hunter's Moon" post I would define as one which generates discussion, ideas, replies, making its statements in a way that encourages a discussion to continue. An "Angels in the Night" post is one (as I define it) which makes a statement that doesn't easily encourage discussion or follow-ups.
The best way of keeping a discussion going, therefore, is to make your posts "Hunter's Moon" ones rather than "Angels in the Night" ones. At least, that's my opinion.

Warpmind> <<The One Ring (silver edition) on his finger>>: Ring, index, or are you lying completely about it being a finger?
<<I'm starting Kendo come January, and I NEED to have long hair then>>: What are you going to be calling yourself? The Blue Thunder? THe Battousai? Or maybe just Yagyu Jubei?
Fire Storm> <<Bth!>>: Been working in hex lately?

*Warpmind enters, wearing a pair of slippers that look like demented spiders from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, and The One Ring (silver edition) on his finger.*
Well, hallo again, everyone.
Gside: It's good to be back. And yeah, I've got hair again - letting it grow now, for a simple reason: I'm starting Kendo come January, and I NEED to have long hair then. It's an image thing. ;)
And anyway, with little I see and point in myself replying to... I'll just claim #4 and say good day to thee.
And a still Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Oh, yeah, and it's surreal in Metropolis, when the Big Red Button is pushed, buildings start exploding, and "I Can't Stop Loving You" blares out in the background... :)
