According to Fox News, Kerry ahs picked Edwards, and according to the NY Post, Kerry picked Gephardt to be his running mate. Edwards is charismatic, southern, and has a good voting record as Democrats go, plus he can speak with the dead, but he is a personal injury attorney and thus a minion of Satan.

Another interesting but yes biased news site is The Command Post, which is still pretty good in giving news, plus they are inclusive.

http://www.command-post.org/

Well, history repaeats itself. Once again Senator JFK of Massachusettes picks a fellow Senator and a Southerner as his running mate. Let's hope Kerry meets a similar end :)

Gunjack> <<Think PJ O'Rourke meets SJ,>> I like the sound of that. I just read PJ O'Rourke's latest book. Agree or disagree, he's funny.

<<Maybe we go shooting? We still gotta get Basmah in on the shooting thing.>> I'll only be there a few days and I'm not a big shooting person, but I'l go a few rounds with a sidearm as I have only ahd any success witha n M16. BTW, did you get the little gifties I sent you and Lain.

<<'d be down with Nader just to get the war over with, but I dunno past that>> I think we should begin a pahse out there, though I don't like the thought of strict abandonment. I have begun to reconsider isolationism (only military) and that America should resign from the UN Security Council and perhaps compeltely withdraw from the UN, but I do not wish to cut off trade at all. In fact, I want to reduce trade barriers and eliminate agricultural subsidies comepletely.

I find Nader to be a whack job washed up seventies icon with almsot as many functioning brain cells as Jimmy Carter or Ramsey Clarke. I'm going with the Libertarian like I did in 2000. The Libertarian position against the war is teh only one I can really respect, plus they havea few members who like to draw Mickey Mouse ears on Che Guerva and don't bow down to Chomsky.

<<till looking for someone that won't schill for the Moneyed Interests, Special Interests, or Isreali Interests. Any suggestions?>> Well find one who won't back thsoe interests and won't back flipside negatives like union interests, lawsuit mania, internationalism, third worldism, and collectivism.

<<Seen the movie yet, BTW?>> No. I don't see it coming to a military post. Maybe it will. I don't have a particular hatred for Moore, beyond an enjoyment of mocking him and namecalling. I bashed him on my lj and some nutjob decided I'm a Bush lover because I like to bash Moore, and he then went on about how I should look into becoming a Raelian.

<<My big beef with Martin (and the CRAPpers) is his kissing up to Bush.>> I just don't care too much for the NDP, though they may occasionally have a good idea (a broken clock is accurtae twoice a day after all). I don't like how disciplined the parties are in Canada, either. I prefer mavericks who think for themselves and not follow the party leaders. Martin would be wise to listen to the good ideas of Harper, Layton, and Duceppe. I think you'd agree with me that the Gun Registry is a failure.

BTW, I left the GOP because of my increaisngly libertarian philosophy (my hawkishness is the only non-libertarian stance, and I still liked the Libertarian anti-war arguments best), and as soon as the Republicans took power, they abandoned their small government philosopy, and Bush has alienated lots of his former supporters, plus I have no use for all that social conservativism.

<<hat is almost EXACTLY as pathetic as the "Conservative Cannes" they're setting up to counter Moore. Much sound and fury, signifying nothing... but how many people will actually realize that? >> All I heard of was the Michael Moore Hates America movie,a nd teh guy making it seems to be having a good time and I think he'll make a cute, funny movie using some of Moore's populism from Roger and Me.

I think if you want to counter Moore, you can be preahcy and sanctimonious and snarky (which should earn you a slashed cheek), or you can be funny and irreverant, like the style of South Park.

The Air America radio thing is just as bad. I know one fairly left-leaning friend in Ottawa who hates the radio right as uch as Lain, but found the Air America with Al Franken and the MoveOn twerps painful to listen to.

Gside> <<t's much calmer for the 11 months starting at Ash Wednesday, right? >> Uh, no.

Patrick> <<Yes... the same Canada that forbids people with DUI's and certain other convictions on their record from even entering the country for a visit.>> well maybe so, but I put Gunjack's stubborness in a diffeent category than DUIs.

Now I'm off. Tommorrow I have to go to a stupid Promotion Board. I get out of the Army in six months, and I won't get promoted, but I guess my leaders need to boost their evaluations by sending another soldier to the Board. At least after tommorrow, that BS will be over with.

Gunjack> <<I just takes them at their words, 'mano>>: All in all, I'd rather listen to naysayers more than doomsayers. And I'd be more ready to believe them.
<<Heard of Diebold? Black Box voting?>>: Every now and then IEEE runs articles on voting systems, but I personally think as long as they remain unconnected and you have someone trusted (or enough distrusting people in a group) watching them, it shouldn't be too bad.
<<Either way, I kinda want off>>: Good luck getting away from the flim-flammery.
<<they become dependent on fines and siezures just to pay the bills>>: If you can assume that crime statistics don't change dramatically year to year, I see nothing wrong with planning that you can get x number of dollars from whatever (reasonable) fines they decide to post.
<<they're actually on the edge of becoming DEPENDENT on crime, which isn't really very healthy>>: But still more sane than being dependant on everyone playing nice.
<<And her in her modest headscarf and all...>>: I prefer flamboyant headscarves.
<<Um, ok. Sounds scary. Good Looking Art, though>>: Yes, and similar artist (mentioned a couple times by Jack's author) that you might hate is Jay Naylor's Better Days at furrymilitia.net
<<I'd pay to see that>>: It would be so very useful.
<<I'm trying, but I can't think of any way that wouldn't really hurt>>: You can stop thinking. It does hurt.
<<POLITICAL science, but science all the same>>: PoliSci needs so many fewer credits than any real science degree. The only Political Science I respet is Randy Newman's, and that's a song.
<<Not here>>: Shame. By the way, a quote from the NJTransit webpage: "Ticket Purchases On-Board Trains Train personnel can not accept bills over $20 for ticket purchases. Passengers boarding without tickets will be subject to a $5.00 surcharge if ticket vending machines are available, or the ticket office at their boarding station is open."

Silvadel> <<I find it kind of odd that they would essentially shut down the country on a Monday because July 4th happened to occur on Sunday>>: The government promises its workers however many vacation days a year, and if one of those falls on a weekend, they're still guaranteed them.

Howdy, everyone!

Just wanted to write and say hi to all of you from my new place in New York! The new job is going pretty well so far, although I'm still adjusting to the major change in climate. The humidity is definitely something I'm not used to!

Anyhoo, I just wanted to see if anyone in here is interested in a Gargoyles Burger King Kid's Meal toy that I've had since the toys came out at Burger King around 1995. I have that toy and a few other random items on Ebay right now if anyone is interested! Clicky on my name if you want to check it out.

Happy Fourth of July and take care! :)

Actually I find it kind of odd that they would essentially shut down the country on a Monday because July 4th happened to occur on Sunday...

Probably just a bit ... about it because I have things I would have liked to mail on my errand day(Monday) and the post offices are closed...

Usually I ship things out on Monday and Friday -- this week I will end up sending things out on Wednesday and will probably get several impatient people upset...

Yes I sell a lot of things on ebay.

Does anyone know what happened to Blaqthourne & Crimson Fury? He's the fan who had all the episode scripts posted on his web site. That site used to be here:

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/4353/eplist.html

But just recently it was removed due to inactivity. So if anyone has an e-mail address for him... let me know. If he's not planning to resurrect his site, I'd like to ask him if I can get the script files from him and host them at The Aerie. They were a good resource and I'd hate to see them lost.

Yeah, maybe it's bi-annual. Bugger off. Anyway, lost a post last night, and then lost my whole day to reading the War Nerd archives over at some Russian dump of an alternative online newspaper called "eXile". The paper may be a dump, but this Gary Brecher guy is on to something. Think PJ O'Rourke meets SJ, except all he talks about is people butchering each other in really big numbers. I read through most of his archive, which covered about sixty, maybe seventy million dead in everything from Congolese brush wars to Shining Path in Peru to the Eretrians vs. the Etheopians and fought with everything from hoes and machettes to self-propelled AA tracks. Somehow, he manages to make torture, murder, and genocide really, really funny. If you're down with the gallows humor, or bored, check it out.

Patrick><<You may not find it as amusing when having jail time on your record foils your plans to emigrate to Canada.>> Point, but still and all, I have a hard time believing that something they take less seriously than jaywalking ($95 fine) is gonna be in the same class as DUI... I'm gonna check it out in advance, but I think the DUI thing is cause they hate it when all the boozer loser teens from seatle and detroit hop over the border for the lower drinking age, and end up smashing up families or killing each other in the streets or such. Windsor's always complaining about that, I remember...
Still, who knows? the world's a crazy place. maybe they're cracking down real hard on ticket cheats or sommat. I'll tell ya how it goes.

Dezi><<BTW, thanks to Lain for her input- Gunjack, please pass it along>> Just did. She was mighty impressed! : ) Congrats to ya from the both of us!

Gside><<That's a mark to me of someone far to the reaches of whatever side they're on.>> I just takes them at their words, 'mano. First link was one of the most senior members of the military community saying that american constitutional democracy probably won't survive another serious terror attack. Second link was the white house and media all saying that "it's a matter of when, not if."

But yeah, I'm pretty far out here. The sad part is, I got here just by comparing today's news with last week's. That's all it takes, and just about everything falls apart so fast it makes yer head spin.
<<I would have taken "if they actually mean anything" as natural pessimism.>> That too. Heard of Diebold? Black Box voting?
Heck, maybe nothing will happen. Maybe there's no WMD attacks, no martial law, no FEMA camps, and maybe we ride off into the sunset with just old-fashioned graft, deciet, and flim-flammery. Either way, I kinda want off.
<<You'd rather have higher taxes everywhere over being willing to try to be a good little boy and avoid whatever fines they have lying around?>> Not really. The problem, as I see it, is that governments of all sizes are so irresponsible with their money that they become dependent on fines and siezures just to pay the bills. At that point, they're in danger of being more concerned with catching criminals than they are with preventing crime. In fact, they're actually on the edge of becoming DEPENDENT on crime, which isn't really very healthy.
I know, an awful lot of fuss over a dang ticket. It irks me, is all. Think of it as this month's Damning the Man. ;8 P

<<The last few rounds are even worse than that (they create their own holes).>> I'm trying, but I can't think of any way that wouldn't really hurt...
<<No, not really. Everything I've picked up has been something useable for a science demonstration.>>
But it IS science! POLITICAL science, but science all the same...
<<Granted, 75 does seem a little much, and don't they usually let you buy tickets on the train (for a bit extra)?>> Not here. $75 for no ticket, $95 for crossing an empty street at points other than the crosswalk, and a couple hundred when the neighbor who hates ye complains about the noise your dog wasn't actually making.

GB><<Well, it's good to hear from you. Hopefully I'll be visiting you in Vancouver a few months after you arrive.>> Woiks for me. Maybe we go shooting? We still gotta get Basmah in on the shooting thing.

<<Thanks to certain policy decisions, I'm now out of the GOP, but the Democrats or the Green Paty Luddites better not think they have a shot to get my vote.>> What was it that did the GOP in for ya, out of curiousity? And yeah, the democrats aren't much to hope for either. I finally understand all those jokes about "the evils of two lessers". I'd be down with Nader just to get the war over with, but I dunno past that... *shrugs* Still looking for someone that won't schill for the Moneyed Interests, Special Interests, or Isreali Interests. Any suggestions?
<<On Farenheit 911, Richard Clarke (hardly a Bush buddy) has criticized the movie.>> Yeah, I heard that... But all the criticism does is shift the blame to Mr. Clark, who still has no real excuse for taking that particular action. I've heard an awfull lot of shrieking about moore being fat, stupid, a nazi, a liar, take your pick, but so far nothing substantial beyond a few minor nitpicks here and there. No spliced footage, nothing.
Seen the movie yet, BTW?
<<I wonder what Moore's next movie will be about...oh and just so I don't forget..he's a Fat Bastard :)>> Yeah, but so am I. And Moore was very, VERY restrained this time. Dig around some time and see if you can find some of the press releases sent out by the 9/11 widows, the ones who turned down the Govmn't payoff and sued Bush. Quite a few of them helped vote him into office, and now blame him for a heck of a lot more than sitting down on the job.
<<well you did forget a ticket.>> Sure did, and I'll happily pay the penalty. I'm just not keen on paying it in cash.
<<You sound like Lain saying that.>> Yeah, she rubs off on a body. My big beef with Martin (and the CRAPpers) is his kissing up to Bush. If I'd wanted to watch my elected reps do that, I'd be staying HERE.
<<I just wish soemthing could done about the welfare mentality in Atlantic Canada.>> Don't know about the welfare part, but Lain's getting her money's worth out of the socialized medicine about now...
<<You don't have to watch them once you're with Lain.>> It's like a train wreck. I can't help watching.
<<I wonder if Al Gore's Liberal Cable Network will be as blatantly biased...only less entertainment value.>> That is almost EXACTLY as pathetic as the "Conservative Cannes" they're setting up to counter Moore. Much sound and fury, signifying nothing... but how many people will actually realize that?

Actually what bothers me about the voting in general is that being in NJ my vote NEVER counts. You see, I am in a republican area of a democrat state...

In the local elections, the republicans will win whichever way I vote...

In the elections for senate etc the democrat will win whichever way I vote...

In the election for president, IF a republican carries NJ then that candidate has won by a 450-87 majority or higher(so the vote doesnt count) otherwise NJ goes democrat(and my vote still doesnt count)... In close elections NJ never provides a swing.

It is things like this (above and beyond the insane budget we have for next year 16.7% increase over last year) that make me want to move to pennsylvania...

Greetings to all on this Fourth of July. In five days and six months, I will be on a plane back to the United States, specfically Seattle, and hopefully visit Lain and Gunjack in Vancouver for a few days, and keep Svend Robinson from stealing my Army ring ;)

Then off to New Orleans, followed by a possible trip to Haliafax (depending on Whitbourne's response) and then to see my beloved Karen for a full month. After that, a trip to Toronto, Utica (where my good friend Dr. Barnes is now), Buffalo, and NYC, before settling down in New Orleans for a while, and Karen will hopefully see me next November, if her parents get over their small-town minded paranoia over New Orleans.

Patrick> <<You may not find it as amusing when having jail time on your record foils your plans to emigrate to Canada.>> This is Canada we're talking about ;)

Dezi> I guess Brando makes that rule of three you mentioned. I always loved his role in the Godfather, one of my favorite movies ever.

Congrats on winning the art contest. It feels good to win.
Gunjack> Well, it's good to hear from you. Hopefully I'll be visiting you in Vancouver a few months after you arrive.

<<Accidentally rode the train without a ticket yesterday, and a friendly DART cop was nice enough to write me up for a $75 fine>> well you did forget a ticket.

<<Did you know that, per-capita, canada lost more soldiers than the US did in WWII?>> No, but I believe that, especially if you include Newfoundland which wasn't yet illegally handed over to Canada by Joey Smallwood (a man crooked enough to be eligible for Louisiana politics).

<<Who? Me, I want my damn Teflon Jean back. Paul Martin is a pale, puny excuse for the creator of the Shawinigan Handshake>> Duceppe was the Bloc candidate and I only said that to get a reaction:) BTW, the Bloc Quebecois now has Chretien's seat and I think they have Trudeau's old seat.

Martin's comparison to Chretien reminds me of John Turner to Pierre Trudeau. Chretien "retired" when Turner took over and later returned in 1988. I imagine someone in '08 will return to replace Martin.

<<Hopefully the NDP pull Martin into line before he does sommat stupid, like shacking up with the CRAPpers.>> You sound like Lain saying that. I just wish soemthing could done about the welfare mentality in Atlantic Canada. And Karen's mother wants me to live there where my paycheck subsidizes somebody on EI with 6 kids and poor hygeine.

Today, I had some adventures in masonry. Mostly it involved hauling bags of chipped rock and measuring depths, but tomorrow we should be ready to lay stones.

Caliope> <<I was one of them wired ass chicks involved in the Bunny Wars mess>>: Ah, some more bells are getting rung. As for myself, I'm just one of the consistant, pervasive perverts.

Gunjack> <<before the elections, if there are any>>: That's a mark to me of someone far to the reaches of whatever side they're on. I would have taken "if they actually mean anything" as natural pessimism.
<<Gside, you missed Lain's hentai tentacle debut right on the dealer's room floor>>: She sent me a picture.
<<this city, like most, actively persues fines as a way of generating revenue>>: You'd rather have higher taxes everywhere over being willing to try to be a good little boy and avoid whatever fines they have lying around?
<<What is this comic?>>: Jack, at pholph.com (do not read today's comic first: you must find out who both Drip and Fnar are first). Think Dante's Inferno with furries.
<<What, with a rifle?>>: I'd rather use something that keeps the currency intact. Maybe the Zelda boomeraing. Just whack his back pocket, and a twenty comes flying back at me.
<<If Lain were here, she'd say "Ewwwwwww">>: The last few rounds are even worse than that (they create their own holes).
<<I know it's all practical and crap, but have you ever played with match heads?>>: No, not really. Everything I've picked up has been something useable for a science demonstration.

Marlon Brando died. Figured I'd announce it.

Just won over $300 in an art contest back home. It was for my town's sesquicenteninal. All of the artwork had to have some connection with the town. I entered two photos and a painting and a pastel drawing. I got first and fourth in the photo category, and second for the pastel for art. The painting didnt win anything, but that's ok cause I was never really pleased with it anyway. But, I'm happy, first money I've ever won for my art. :D (BTW, thanks to Lain for her input- Gunjack, please pass it along).

You may not find it as amusing when having jail time on your record foils your plans to emigrate to Canada. All I'm saying is if you're serious about that first statement, it'd be a good idea to research the future ramifications before telling the judge "sock it to me."

Ho Tay, Chummers. Semi-annual post time from the gunjack.

Lain is now back in Canada, in Vancouver, to be exact. She is currently occupied working in a dress shop, learning to make jam and clean fish, and generally practicing how to live off the land. Hopefully, uber-cool Palestinian Goddess Basmah will be joining her at the end of september, and even more hopefully I'll be up there before the elections, if there are any, this fall.

http://www.vallejonews.com/articles/index.cfm?artoid=145212
http://www.buzzflash.com/farrell/04/04/far04011.html

I'm considering renouncing my US Citizenship.

A-Kon was pretty dang sweet, the highlights being Last Exile and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Can I get a WI5TNESS!?). Gside, you missed Lain's hentai tentacle debut right on the dealer's room floor.
Downsides included losing my wife the whole first day (and Revel; sorry bub), and not one of the hard-hearted Philistines at the art show bidding on Lain's art. That sucked. Hopefully we'll make it back next year without getting "Rumsfield Processed" at the border.

Hmmm, what else? Accidentally rode the train without a ticket yesterday, and a friendly DART cop was nice enough to write me up for a $75 fine. Having learned that this city, like most, actively persues fines as a way of generating revenue, I'm going to see if I can maybe take the jail time instead. I've been warned that this will "go on my permanent record", which is really kinda amusing. Hopefully, I'll get my first visit to a real live courtroom sometime next week (probably thursday, after computer shopping), and we'll see how it works out.

Saw F9/11 on opening night. I was no fan of Moore's "Bowling For Columbine", but this one was much, MUCH better. The film technique alone is worth seeing the movie for, but factually, there are two major problems with the film. Moore skips clean over the massive problems with the official 9/11 story (steel-melting super kerosene, invincible passports, mossad agents dancing in the streets, the phantom pentagon plane, impossible cellphone calls from airplanes, muslim fundamentalists living with stripper girlfriends, the "hijackers" who are still alive, the faked Bin Laden confession, etc). To his credit, he was nice enough to include some quick footage of one of the 9/11 widows who is suing the president over his actions in the attack.
Second, he overplays the saudi connection to Bush. Yes, Bush and the bin ladens go waaaaaay back, and yes, the saudis certianly aren't nice people. Unfortunately, there's not really any evidence that SA, or even Bin Laden, had anything to do with 9/11. The FBI has quietly admitted that at least several of the hijackers' Saudi passports were stolen, meaning that we have no real idea of who carried out the attacks. Osama Bin Laden denied involvement in the attacks, and the video of his confession to committing them appears to be a low-quality forgery. Likewise, Moore makes NO mention of Isreal and its possible involvement in 9/11 (apparently, the US extends a generous "catch and release" policy toward mossad agents caught in the US) and subsequent events including the invasion of Iraq. Still, a valiant effort, and highly accurate as far as it goes. Go see it immediately. Heck, see it just to annoy the conservative pinheads on the radio.

Um, what else?

<<Even if you absolutely, positively, cannot attend, not even if a magic skiff washed up in your bathtub... please consider showing your love for "Gargoyles" and the fandom by purchasing a supporting membership.>>

So how many people _have_ sent in supporting membership slips? I hear a lot of people saying they can't go, which is totally understandable. But I guess I was just curious as to how many people _are_ sending along their supporting memberships? If you can't make the Gathering, sending some sign that you¡¦re still out there and kicking is still a fantastic help! I just hope people aren't getting depressed out there with the attitude of, "Well... I can't go. Guess that's it for me." Yah, maybe Disney would be a bit more hyped if they actually saw a larger head count, but they've been sending along T-shirts and other items the last few conventions to get an idea of what's going on. If the staff can show them just over a hundred people and remind them of how many people have shown up in the past (not to mention the number of names in the fan registry)... well that would be pretty good. But if the staff can say, "Hey, we took the convention a little out of the way this time, but people still showed up and just LOOK how many people WANTED to show up and still sent their support!¡¨ Disney wants to know if they can still make money on this product, right? Well people, it costs a LOT LESS to purchase a DVD then go to the Gathering. So just showing that you¡¦re out there somewhere and still willing to spend money on "Gargoyles" is all these people need to hear. Getting you to spend even more to go to a convention is great, but all they really need to know is whether or not those DVD's are going to sell. So please don't get discouraged and think, "Well, I can't go... so what's the big deal about sending in a slip of paper?" Well, this IS just my opinion. But I personally think it could make a big difference. So to all the parents, college students and others just trying to make ends meet... please... if you have the time to let us know you can't make it then take the time to fill out a supporting membership slip so that Disney still knows you¡¦re out there. Maybe you can't make it to Montreal. But you probably CAN make it to Wal-Mart :) I know it¡¦s become frustrating because Disney is taking SO LONG to recognize this show's potential. But we might as well see this through to the end! ƒº Every contribution is worth it and much appreciated by the current Gathering staff, the rest of this fandom and, of course, Greg and other regulars like himself who¡¦ve continued to stand by this project. So let¡¦s all do the best we can!

Gathering Hotel Update:

Good news for anyone who still hasn't booked their room. We have gotten the reservations deadline extended by two weeks. You now have until July 20th at noon to reserve your hotel room at the Delta Centre-Ville. Be sure to mention you're with The Gathering 2004 to receive the discounted rate.

Also, we have asked the hotel to shuffle the remaining available rooms in our block around a bit to make a few more rooms available at the block rate for Thursday and Sunday nights. So if you were told when you booked that there were no rooms left on either of those days, you can call back before the 20th to ensure you get the special rate.

Phoenix Gate Anthology:

To clear up a rumor that's been going around, NO, you do NOT have to attend the convention to purchase a copy of the Anthology. All Anthology, T-shirt, and Pin pre-orders received from fans not attending the Gathering will be shipped out after the convention. You can also have a friend who IS attending pick up your stuff for you, but you must e-mail us first to let us know who is allowed to pick it up.

Even if you absolutely, positively, cannot attend, not even if a magic skiff washed up in your bathtub... please consider showing your love for "Gargoyles" and the fandom by purchasing a supporting membership. Great comic, isn't it?

Gside: <The portfolio is probably going to be the hardest thing>
I see the portfolio as being difficult, but not that bad. Hell, I think that the Humanities CLEP will be the hardest mostly because 1. I don't care about it 2. I know little about it and 3. I don't care that I don't know
<Everyone knows it as Barnacle Bill's, not the full Barnacle Bill's Grog Shop.>
Odd, yet interesting
<I'm sure there are still a bunch of bad genes that stop (or are linked to genes that stop) the attraction of mates.>
Oh yeah, that much is true. What was popular in the past (strength, power, height, etc) are still popular, and the new ones (intelligence, etc) are popular. BUT I think that the sheer volume of people make a mate for nearly everyone, and the genetic downsides are being overruled by emotional upsides.
The modern downsides (lower intelligence, pre-disposition to cancer, asthmatic, genetically weakened immune systems, poor eyesight, etc, etc) aren't as important when picking a mate as they may have once been. And even if the genetic material makes the sperm non-viable, that STILL doesn't stop people from having kids.
I think it would be wrong to weed the garden and eliminate those with undesirable genes. BUT I think people are unfortunately against making humans a GMO.
Time will tell.
<Not a very good chance with the short training time I have.>
But you have to try! Maybe it will be a yearly thing!
<Why not just call it by its true name, musical holes?>
Well, I could, but I didn't want to say it.
<You can always find a second being to participate in any fetishes>
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
<The memory thing's getting out of hand>
Yeah, but what are you going to do?
<Then again, I can rifle through your wallet directly, and you'll never know.>
Ah... that brings back memories...

DPH: <I'm very biased against those programs that say take one class a week for x months (2 years or less) and end up with a bachelor's degree>
Well, in defense of my classes, they are just twice as much class in a 5 week period instead of a 10 week period.
<Half of it must be based on passing clep tests.>
Yeah...
I need to take 7 tests:
Principles of Accounting
Biology
Chemistry
College Mathematics
American Literature
Analyzing and Interpreting
Humanities
Natural Science
Social Science and History
The good thing is that I had already taken enough math classes (up to MATH180), but the credits can't transfer for some reason, so I don't feel bad about that. I am going to take Biology, Chemistry and Physics later (because I want to know science), but to get into the Bachelors program as a Junior, I need to CLEP out of them.
As far as American Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting, Humanities, Humanities, and Social Science and History, quite frankly, I could care less about those classes anyway.
I just hope that it's not a waste. I mean, yeah, I know that a lot of those accelerated courses just teach you to learn answers to questions and not actual skills, but since this college IS accredidated, I hope that they do teach.
I REALLY don't want to have to retake the classes because I didn't learn anything. (I want the degree, but more then that, I want the knowledge)

Greg Bishansky: Wow... I am screwed! Looks like I am going to be arrested!
Oh, you forgot gun owners and people who look weird

Caliope: <I dont expect any of you to remember me,>
Oh yeah! I remember you!
You did that thing to that person that time!

I still find it funny that Cheney thought we were being attacked by the RUSSIANS on 9/11. Yeah. The Russians. eep!

Patrick> Okay, I heard you can't photograph the subways, but that is just ridiculous.

But in the mean time, we better be careful. I hear John Ashcroft is revising the word 'terrorist' in the Patriot Act yet again (most recently he added all Arabs as well as drug dealers).... here's what he's adding.

Terrorist: Atheists, Ice Skaters, Homosexuals, Cos Players, Crossdressing Cos Players, Dancers, Comic book geeks (even Dubya is already hiding his stash ;)), Overweight film-makers ;), Homeless people, the entire state of Massachusets and Vermont, Parts of California too ;), Scientologists, College professors, black people, Mexicans, Intellectuals, Prostitutes and pornographers (Larry Flynt and Hugh Hefner have already fled to Holland) and finally... any one who has either had sex with Bill Clinton or had sex with one of Bill Clinton's "partners"... over 35% of the nation will be jailed.

Patrick: <You're starting to scare me.>
WHAT? I mean, look at him! He doesn't look that frightening, he has a calming voice, he's smart, and he knows how to speak to kids (I mean, look at how he speaks to Clarisse!)
And, if "Hannibal" was any example, he can get kids to eat strange foods!
I doubt he would actually harm the kids. They are too young and impressionable, so any downsides they have could be corrected (preferably by him) so their presence and not their loss is a benefit to society, which if you remember was why he killed who he killed. He just wants to make the world a better place, and really, could there be anyone better then him?

(This topic came up at work because my boss and I were talking about questions that you already know the answer to but you still have to ask (even though you aren't sure you want to know the answer). I first said "Yeah, like you see your kids walking through the house covered in dirt and carrying shovels. You really don't want to find out that they are digging up your backyard, which you know they already are, but since they are, you also want to make sure that they are doing it for "good" reasons such as "digging a hole to China" and not "having a funeral for Mr. Squirrel!""
Then my mind threw in a little twist. "But at least they don't make a return trip with a bucket, some rope, and a bottle of lotion".
And, well, "Dr. Lecter's Happy Fun Hour" was born.)

Oh. Wait! I want to change my answer to your comment. What I meant to say was "Thank you!"

Never knew it was ILLEGAL to take photos in NYC. I'd better hide the evidence of my misdoings from last year's Gathering.

Gside- Here's a fun note about Vodka. The first Vodkas, and still many small Eastern European distillers fermented the drink from Potatoes. Vodka was actually used as an anti-freeze in cars and tank in WW 2 because water froze to easily. Though then they had problems with soldiers syphoning the radiators.

Quick little twisted thought:

Hi kids! Welcome to Dr. Lecters happy fun hour! Today we will learn about gourmet food and funny accidents!

Dr: Ah. It is so wonderful to see so many little smiling, eager faces. Now, what should you kids always remember?

Kids: It puts the lotion in the bucket or else it get's the hose again!

(Yeah, yeah, I know, I know... Lecter didn't make the women do that but that other killer. Details, detils)

I forgot to mention that I bent steel rods by hand (actually by stomach) on sunday. But I don't think anyone's stress tested the new hose guide yet.

DPH> <<banks/credit card companies don't want to put their headquarters in Arkansas>>: As long as you get branch offices, does the common person really care?
<<Vodka was made in Russia to withstand VERY cold climates>>: I think you've got your cause and effect mixed up there. Whatever alcoholic drink Russians came up with would only catch if it worked with the cold climate.
<<Whip up plans for a model version of the Cyberbiotics Airfortress 2 that will fly>>: Not that hard. Either pepper that thing with enough props and vertical jets, or design most of it as empty space.
<<I can come up with a number of possible things I suspect you guys would try to do to me if I attended a Gathering in Las Vegas>>: You think too highly of yourself.

Jay> <<I would Just Like to know if anyone is planning on continuing any of the series>>: They are, they're working on it, staff is low, so don't expect results any time soon.
