Anyone ever see Requiem for a Dream? Amazingly INSANE movie. It was really awesome, but it freaked me the hell out. And Keith David's in it. It's quite an odd role if you hear his voice and think of Goliath being all noble and such.

I admit I souldn't have responded, but I couldn't resist with the finger sandwhich joke.

Gunjack> Actually teaching Creationsim in Science class is good for a laugh and it could make for an easy A to lighten up the mood during a tough semester time. Now, to be more controverisal topic, sex education was taught in both Biology and Religion Classes, but contrary to some Catholic schools, they taught us about birth control, but still stressed the importance of abstinence.

Now every six months in the Army (especially Korea) we get a day for classes including one on safe sex and human trafficking, where we get the slides on various diseases and their disfigurements (this coudl explain why Kim Jong Il is so batty), as well as avoiding juicy girls as soem are exploited and both governemnts (US and Korea) are cracking down on soldiers who violate these laws.

As for my own religiosu beliefs, I am more of an objectivist philosophically, but Karen and I will still get married by the Church for variosu reasons, including theri preparation programs (which will probably become adopted by younger faiths...and hopefully bans on getting married before the 21st birthday) and the Ave Maria as she walks down the aisle, instead of the over-used Midsummer Night's Dream theme.

GregX> That sounds like Sevarius Jr. or Imzadi's style to me.

In some really sad news, Hunter Thompson killed himself :(

We don't even sacrifice virgins to volcanos. Pitiful. Of course, that's probably a good thing. I imagine most women today lie about that, and if we were to cast an impure maiden into the volcano, than we're looking at a total loss of the island. And probably the neighboring islands too.

I just got an idea. Anyone know Greg's e-mail address? I want to see what he thinks of "Goliath Versus the Volcano."

Cult? Well, as a wise man who used to post here once said (well, more of a wise guy), and I'm paraphrasing:

Of all the cults I've ever been in, this is undoubtly the worst. I mean, not once has Greg Weisman asked us to hand him all our money and earthly possessions, to let him impregnate all our women to create the Weisman Master Race... he never even bothered to ask us to drink Kool Aid. I mean all the other cults get to do these things. I feel like I've wasted my time this past eight years.

I mean WHERE'S THE KOOL AID???????????????

Worst. Cult. Ever.

Gside><<So that's Lain's pet name for little Mikey?>> Eww. In context, see... I mean... given where the quote comes from... Eww.

Cold girl on a hot night flashbacks... *shudders*

Attila><<Now that may not matter to "Christians" following the seventeenth non-denominational Church of the 65th Advent Reformed or the Fellowship of the second-to-last supper...>> Can I get a witness!? WOO! Word to *your* mother!

<<...but the whole Science vs Religion nonsense was dismissed by St. Thomas Aquinas...>> Yeah, the science vs Religon debate is bull-pucky, as is the whole idea of teaching "creationism" in a science class.

The problem is, BOTH parties in that debate are wrong. The neither Evolution NOR Creationism is particularly scientific; neither follows the scientific method, both default to scientific fiat due to lack of evidence.

Dezi><<WOOOOT!!!>> Aw yeah! An actual QUALITY production this time? I saw the BBC version a long time ago, and it wasn't much to write home about...

<<Where the bone eaters something of a real myth or legend, or what were they based on? Or were they something that you guys created?>>

Glad you liked 'em. :D ...Short version is, we made 'em up, but the idea of "Hungry ghosts" or ghouls or such are common to many mythologies; these are my take. There's also kinda a reference there to the New Testament that I didn't catch myself until the story was almost finished, but it's reeeeeaaaaaallly subtle. Anyway, I originally created them for a different story. Lain suggested the connections to this one that really defined the concept, and Lyn did the writing stuff that neccesitates the warning label for those with heart conditions.

Come to think of it, Lyn's also the one who came up with the idea of light grey text on a black background. I was a little worried about it causing eye strain or sommat, but we decided it was too cool an effect to pass up. glad to hear it worked out okay!

<<I mean, what a way to "go".>> ...Oh, he's not gone yet...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*Ahem* ...:D

<<When's the third? When's the third? When's the third?>> Soon! Soon! Soon! :D

The nice thing is, since this was supposed to be a one-part story (HA!) that was broken up a chunk at a time, quite a bit of the work on part 3 is already done. The current draft/outline is 16 pages, so we've already got a leg up. I, personally, am taking a few more days off to recuperate from the recent three-day non-stop writing binge we just finished before I pick it up again. After that, it should be a week or two (barring serious problems, like happened last time), and it'll be done. Lyn's been saying something about a release by Easter; so we'll say that for now.

...and now, back to PAINTING MY FEELINGS!

OK.... SO was anyone nearly as creeped out by me about those bone eaters? *shivers* They were just...creeeeeepy. On a different note, I did like how the story was white text on black instead of black on white. I dunno, it was just nicer to my eye. It also conveyed some of the creepiness of the catacombs. Also, on a visual note, I do love how the chaotic words of the bone eaters are spread throughout that block. It was scary to read them, but a good device! :) I feel sad for Kappel. I was kinda wishing he woulda got a better deal in the end. I mean, what a way to "go". First, your Demona's bi-otch, then she screws you over. Sucky. When's the third? When's the third? Vinnie> A while back, Gabe mentioend that Jeffrey Dahmer became a born again Christian in jail, and then he was beaten to death with a broom stick.

But they did serve finger sandwiches at his wake ;)

Now as for the Evolution vs Creation, the Pope himself said that Evolution is possible, and this is the Pope. Now that may not matter to "Christians" following the seventeenth non-denominational Church of the 65th Advent Reformed or the Fellowship of the second-to-last supper, but the whole Science vs Religion nonsense was dismissed by St. Thomas Aquinas, though sadly upheld by some reactionary Cleric in Egypt. St. Thomas's theories and use of Aristotle led to the Renaissance while that reactionary cleric led to the Fundamentalist movement.

Even Ayn Rand a major critic of Religion has high words for St. Thomas Aquinas.

Vinnie: Don't remember the intricate details of "And Justice For All." I've only seen it once. I just remembered the resolution.

DPH: I was reading throught the archives last night. I didn't know you liked "Cowboy Bebop." I too enjoyed the movie, but one thing I found really weird was this. If I remember correctly, Watanabe has said that it falls between episodes 22 and 23. I noticed that Spike's character, after episode 22, seemed to become more reserved, more contemplative than he had been in previous episodes. I don't know how long they'd been planning to do a movie, but I like the way Spike's change in character ties into the plot of the movie. His conversation with Elektra in the prison seemed to bring old memories back to the surface, and some of Vincent's dialogue mirrored Spike's conversation with Vicious in episode 5 (particularly the idea of being neither alive nor dead, and viewing the world as a dream from which he cannot awaken). It just seemed to me that for the last four episodes of the series (after the movie), Spike seemed to have grown up slightly. I mean, he could still be a hothead, just not as brash as he once was.

Vinnie- as a matter of fact, we all have lives. And jobs, and friends and some of us significat others. It just so happens that part of our lives is taking the time to skim a board that is related to a show and wrtten fiction of a story we loved and still love.
It always puzzles me how someone can tell some one to get a life when they are deliberately trying to annoy others, first with the egon pax thing now with bringing up subject matter that has been beaten back and forth longer than I care to bring up.
There was nothing Vicious in Lynati's statment, but if you want to see vicious just keep it up, I can name a few that would love to break out the flames.
So next time you tell someone to get a life, takea moment to ponder this, why are YOU here?

Vinnie: This isn't a creationist/evolutionist room. This is a GARGOYLES room. You can't fault anyone in here for being into the series. It IS what has brought everyone here together. If its just a cartoon, and if you have so little regard for the fandom, then quit posting here. I'm sure there are plenty of other places that you could go to get the argument you seek. If you actually wish to participate in the common purpose of this room, how about you read Lain, Lynati and Gunjack's recent work, and post a critique of that. If you are so set on arguing, maybe you can find a flaw of some sort in the story that you wish to point out, and then someone can disagree with you. At least you'll be constructive.
It should be painfully obvious to you by now that no one here wishes to debate creationism/evolutionism.

‘If a person doesn’t think there is a God to be accountable to, then—then what’s the point of trying to modify your behaviour to keep it within acceptable ranges? That’s how I thought anyway. There was indeed a Double Date episode planned. But I've never once heard of that being what the TGC writers turned into "Genesis Undone".

I know that Greg never planned to kill off the clones like that. Thailog actually would have gone on to become the series' new big bad.

Todd: I remember reading somewhere on ASK GREG that he had an idea for a double date episode (I think it was Talon, Maggie, Goliath, and Delilah), and Taina told me that he wanted that to be a part of the episode that eventually became "Genesis Undone." I do not remember reading his proposal for "And Justice For All." But now that you mentioned it, I did find it weird that they actually found an impartial jury (one that was neither anti-gargoyle like the Quarrymen or pro like the PIT).

By the way, I just finished reading the Pendragon story "Visions." I have been puzzling over the ending to "Two" for a while now, which was one of my favorite stories from "Gargoyles," Season One. So, I'm guessing that Stonehenge was used by the Sisters to bring in the alternate Demona, and then from there they went to Manhattan and sort of told Owen what to say and do. Plus, I spotted a few references to other episodes in the visions. That was cool. I guess I should continue reading Timedancer after I finish season one of Pendragon.

HARVESTER - Actually, Greg never said anything about what his original proposal was for "Genesis Undone" at "Ask Greg". I wonder if you might be thinking of "And Justice For All" instead, since he did say what his original proposal was for that (the big problem would be not Goliath getting acquitted in his trial, but getting a trial in the first place, since almost all the humans in New York don't see gargoyles as anything more than wild animals).

Speaking of the devil, you'll have to pay his tax, as the late Joe Strummer (1952 - 2002; Rest in Peace, boyo) once said.

Dezi: Well, hopefully, you'll still be able to say you've never seen "A Bronx Tail." They might as well have just called that one "An Amish Kid and His Garg-Beast." Sure, that's a stupid name, but still not nearly as stupid as the episode itself. Bottom line is, if you haven't seen "A Bronx Tail," don't ever let someone not educated in the ways of Gargoyles talk you into watching it.

According to what DTaina told me, E--n P-x is said about fifty-eight times in the episode "To Serve Mankind." I agree with what Todd said a week or two ago. If I had a sniper rifle, I'd have killed the tree-hugging bastard myself, just to shut that doctor up. I still want to, actually. Anyone know what country he's residing in?

I wonder what Greg's idea for "To Serve Mankind" was, though. I assume you know about how he refused to be credited as a consultant for the Goliath Chronicles, and would only accept screen credit for the one episode he was responsible for. But he still pitched the production staff ideas for the other eleven episodes, ideas that they ignored. I read his original proposals for "Ransom," "Runaways," and "Genesis Undone" on ASKGREG. They all sounded better than what the asshole writers actually did. And I more or less guessed (and my good friend Taina confirmed it) that Greg's idea for "Seeing Isn't Believing" would have provided some segway for the proposed "New Olympians" spinoff, much like the end of the episode "Pendragon" provided segway for that proposed spinoff. Maybe Greg's idea for "To Serve Mankind" is somewhere in the TGC section of the ASKGREG archives. I still haven't looked through all of it, which is bad of me, since I don't think it's that big a section. My guess is his original pitch had something to do with Bluestone's new involvement in the group, as well as the mysterious Duval whom Greg sort of introduced in "The Journey." Ah well. At least they listened to Greg for "Angels In the Night." Thanks to him, that episode simply sucked, instead of "sucked to the googolplex power."

What's this I hear about "Hungry Shadows, Part 2"? Woo-hoo! Reading it with the lights off sounds good. Reading it with the lights off AND a glass of wine sounds better.

Speaking of the devil, I used to be able to claim that I had never seen To Serve Mankind, and, therefore, didn't know who E--n P-x was. Thanks to Toon Disney, and my friend here with me who decided that it would be a great idea to watch Gargoyles, even after I told him in great detail how much the GC sucked, I now know who E--n P-x is. Damn, that ep is lame. It's ok though, I've used my DVD to give him proper Gargoyles instruction. :D UGH MUST CLEAR MY MIND OF THE POISON!!!

Hey, Tharos, remember that conversation we had the other night about our mutual friend, E--n P-x? I agree with everything you said now.

Vinnie: Gargoyles might not be bothered by nudity, but don't forget that Demona is extremely bothered (about as bothered as it is possible for someone to get) by something else.

Um, Vinnie (I assume that it's you), you might not want to use that particular alias here (or in any other "Gargoyles" forum, for that matter). I don't think that this is a very safe place to go by that name.

Harvester:<I imagine that if a human ever saw Demona naked, Demona would make him regret that for the rest of his life. Both seconds of it.> That's very interesting because I always thought that gargoyles weren't bothered by nudity. As long no one did anything stupid like gawk at Demona they would probably live as long as any other human that dared to get that close to her.

Muchos Hugs for Crhistine Morgan. Demon Whispers is still one of my favorites of her Gargoyles Fanfic.

Niahmgold- Hope you can at least submit soem art, the show always looks best where there are lots of different artist up. I'm still debating gettign a second board because I might want to be greedy and put up some of my larger works, but at the same time I know there is always limited space.

Gside- It's actually taken me longer to go through Shlock's Archive than it did Sluggy because of the foot notes.

I too would have to pass on this three-way idea. I imagine that if a human ever saw Demona naked, Demona would make him regret that for the rest of his life. Both seconds of it. Well, actually, she'd probably prolong the death, and Greg, this time I agree that she'd definitely use the mace.

Niamhgold: Thanks. It's always nice to have fans, even if I'm not actively looking for any. And trust me, an evening with Jenna Jameson would probably damage the viscera. You know the saying about when you kiss a girl, you're also kissing every other man they've kissed? Well, when we're talking about a porn star, that sentence may be edited any number of ways. Get the picture?

And after last night, I don't want to see any whiskey again for a long time. I felt so sick at work this morning. Since my grandfather would never forgive me pouring the rest of my bottle down the sink (and it is a sin to waste good Irish whiskey), I've buried it somewhere in my closet, and will now do my best to forget it's there.

Revel> <<you read Shlock Mercenary too I see>>: Of course I do. It has footnotes.

Yggdrasil> <<I won't be actually getting into the molecular biology too much>>: How else would you do stone sleep?

Niamhgold> <<I should have some art. Maybe edible art>>: Edible body art?
<<Three-way with Jericho and Demona, anyone?>>: The photographer would never recover after seeing the fandom in those positions.
<<ocho>>: You're working on Firefox 1.5?
