Aingeal: Another toast. Argh! My liver can't take much more of this. *raises beer bottle* It's getting rather redundant, having to keep toasting everyone else's happiness, but congrats anyway. *drinks.* I would rather have done this with one of the Belgian ales from my private reserve, but it's short notice. Next time someone gets engaged or announces a wedding or wedding date, I'll break out one of my Chimays or Brooklyn Brewery Chocolate Stouts.

Spen - Funny, that person doesn't share the same ip address as I'm using right now. Funny, I thought somebody else used kentucky bluegrass.
Of course, the person in question was me. I probably should have let the dark side of my hologram test the cr for quietness. He would have been more creative . . . like dropping a bomb from the earth's atmosphere so that it lands loudly in the cr, causing an explosion and sending people running out of the shadows. Or not.

Yay, taxes are done. Took me long enough to get started, but at least I finished in a day. But does anyone want to take odds on an audit for me?
On a related note, I found odds for the new pope: http://www.paddypower.com/bet?action=show_type_by_main_market&category=SPECIALS&ev_class_id=45&id=520
And in completely different news, I think I've seen word of one of the Green Baron's relatives: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/07/pc_tycoon_forsyth_jailed/

Congratulations to the new parents. *takes puff off of a nice, smooth Habana*. Don't worry about it, Mecord. I brought my own. ( ;
On a note both related and unrelated, I really think we need to lift this embargo off Cuba. Their standing army trains with sticks, and the former Soviet Union is now property of the Russian Mafia. I'm tired of having to find excuses to leave the States so I can get the best cigars in the world. Hey, Gunjack, do you and Lain have access to Cubans?
Todd: Glancing back over "The Watching Eye," I think Arthur mentioned to Powell's goons that most of the average civilians dropped out of the Quarrymen after the first few weeks, once they really got to know Castaway and what a fanatic he was. And I think that was the general concensus of the CR, as well as one of the issues Greg would have addressed had he done the other 12 episodes of the Goliath Chronicles.

I actually compare my reading of Pendragon, Season One to my reading of Timedancer, Season One. I already knew that Brooklyn was going to meet a mate and start a family, but with both spinoffs, there are still a few surprises in the process of getting there.

HARVESTER - Sorry that you got the suspense spoiled there - though we honestly weren't expecting that any of our readers might be reading Season Two of "Gargoyles" and "Pendragon" before Season One of "Pendragon".
As for the Quarrymen's organization, I will confess that these days, I don't believe that it would be a good idea to portray them as composed exclusively (or almost exclusively) of thugs and criminals, for the reason that that would blur the central issue - humans fearing what seems strange and different to them. Since the gargoyles are crime-fighters, the criminals would be after them anyway, regardless of how they felt about anything different from themselves. Unless, of course, the Quarrymen were shown as being just as ready to go after criminal gargoyles like Demona and Thailog, or gargoyles who simply weren't interested in dealing with human-on-human crime (as Leo and Una were at the beginning of "M.I.A.").

Gside: Finally, someone has provided me a link to something I've already seen. I've watched this a few times. Can't really blame the keyboardist for wearing a mask, at least in today's society. I always felt that the singer sounds like Peter Cetera, and if it is, it's probably the most worthwhile solo thing he's done. In any case, I'd say that both this and "Kenya" are proof enough that the Internet is a worthwhile invention (oh, and of course, TGS).
I just finished reading the Pendragon story "The Watching Eye." It's funny. Not too long ago, we were discussing the Quarrymen in the CR, and someone mentioned that most of the people in Castaway's group would likely be hired thugs, one of the many things the TGC Staff overlooked. So I liked the fact that here, it was addressed. I imagine Castaway probably lost most of his civilian crew once he started kidnapping people and talking about publicly executing them. Oh, and Todd, I finally got my first "damn, I already know what this is!" moment, which happened at the end of the story, in the conversation between Darien and a member of the Unseelie Court, whom I have strong suspicions might have been Garlon. True, when I read "The Last Enchantment," I knew who that nobleman was who kept trying to get Merlin killed, but I was more interested in reading about Merlin's beginnings. So I felt that the disappointment from already knowing the identity of the mysterious knight was cancelled out. But at the end of "The Watching Eye," I was kind of let down already knowing who "the Master" is, and why he's interested in Arthur's quest. But still, I managed to make it through most of the season before my foreknowledge made a story less intense.

Howdy all,
Spike> Thanks for the link to the Counting Song. Who would have thunk it?
Selecting a New Pope> I know the Catholic Church wouldn't recommend this book, but if you like a sampling of what the selection of a New Pope might be like I'd recommend Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons". Bearing in mind it is a work of fiction.
As for the Counting Song allow me to drop a writer's commentary on the origin of the Counting Song. First off, I give mad props to Patrick for edit this epic. My grammar isn't the greatest and Patrick took the time to edit this along with several others at the same time.
The song is a modified version one I heard on Square One Television. It is a PBS show about 20 years back that did for math and numbers what Seseme Street did for the alphabet. This song came from a sketch on Roman numerals where a cooner band from Phoenica was trying to understand the numerical lyrics from a Roman songwriter.
When I was writing the story, I needed a token of affection that was unique to Brooklyn and Meryt. Something that really put the hurt on Brooklyn and Sata's relationship. I hadn't seen Brooklyn sing so I went with a song. And when you're up at 1:30 in the morning, writing fanfiction when you should be studying for a Calculus midterm a song about numbers seemed an obvious choice.

As promised, here we go.
*raises wineglass*
"John Paul, you were the best Pope I ever seen. Of course, you're the only Pope I ever seen, and I'm not even Catholic. But that being said, given what I know of past Pope's in the Church's history, I think you were a damn good one. You are still dangerous, but you can be my wingman anytime."
*takes a drink*
Gside: Japanese schoolgirls versus Catholic schoolgirls. I'd have to say the Japs, being kinkier (or more open-minded, as some people prefer to call it), have them outmatched. However, the Catholic schoolgirls would be able to actually show their pubes on a TV camera. So they've got that over the Japanese. Now me, I just think Asian women are really hot, so my opinion is biased to begin with.
I wonder who'll be the new Pope. I'm looking forward to a nice orderly election which will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath. But on the other hand, violence can be funny with the right musical score. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!

Greetings all... Ninth! ^_^
I haven't been by in ages, but I wanted to share this with those that know me... this morning, at 7:50am EST, I became an Uncle for the second time, when my sister gave birth to her new daughter, Suzan Elizabeth... 7lbs 1oz, 19inches long and she came into the world screaming with a head of curly black hair! ^_^
We have the first pictures back taken of her, and I wanted everyone to see my new niece:

Curse you, F------! Ah, well. Number four, with a vengeance.
And in case everyone's wondering why I'm not at work right now, it's because I just got back into town after being up in Pennsylvania for a surprise 80th Birthday Party for my grandmother. The best part is, it actually remained a surprise. Plus, I got to see members of my dad's family I haven't seen in a while. Quick question: is a cousin of one of your parents a second or third cousin to you? Or is it first once removed?
Anyway, it looks like the south is finally getting this Spring I've heard so much about. I'll be back to toast the departed pontiff tonight after dinner, when I don't have to drive anywhere.
