Harvester Of Eyes : We're definitely talking about two different things. I was reffering to the show from the 60s. you were talking about the movie which I have never seen. And in the show his name was Philip. If you want proof, click my name.

Gside : The one-armed man had a name too, Fred Johnson.

Spen: Okay, we're not on the same page. I was thinking of the movie, and his first name was Samuel in the movie. I've never seen an episode of the series.

Todd: Makes me wonder what Greg originally had in mind. If I remember correctly, he recently revealed that in his mind, Merlin was the son of Oberon and a mortal woman.

HARVESTER - I'm afraid that I don't know what the favor was - that was something that I just took from "Ask Greg" when I asked Greg why Oberon allowed Arthur to stay on Avalon (given that, in "Ill Met By Moonlight", he disapproved of mortals being there). Maybe somebody who's still on the staff has an idea or two - since I resigned at the end of 2003, it's now out of my hands.

Actually, Spen: I believe his name was Samuel Gerard. And I also think I know to which TGS Character you're referring. Does he originally hail from a region of the Romanian countryside?

By the way, there was an interesting comment at the end of Pendragon, Season One that caught my attention. First of all, I liked the intro. The aftermath of Camlann was probably one of the best flashbacks from that season. One thing I found interesting was that Merlin mentioned that one of the reasons he talked his uncle into granting Arthur asylum was because he said Oberon owed him one. I hope that somewhere in TGS, we learn why that is. Given what we all know about Oberon's character, it could be interesting.

Harvester Of Eyes : Thanks for the voice list, I would have never thout of some of those. By the way IMHO the next Pendragon episode was the best episode of the season so hope you enjoy it. Also, I'm fairly certion that it's *mrs.* Hayden But you'd have to ask her to know for sure. She still posts here once in a blue moon. Around here she goes by the name of Spike.

Todd : I would have never guessed that Lucius had any connection with Saruman, I guess I'll have to re-read The lord of the rings (I've been too busy reading the history of Middle-Earth series.) Oh and by the way, the police Lt. from The Fugitive does have a name you know, Philip Gerard. As for Christopher Lee, in my opinion there's another TGS voice that would be appropriate for him to do from Gargoyles season 3 (a story that you wrote in fact.)

HARVESTER - Funny that you should have thought of Christopher Lee to voice Lucius, since Lucius owes just a little to Saruman (whom Mr. Lee recently played in the Lord of the Rings movies, of course). Largely in terms of my realizing certain things about Lucius too late to get into Season Two of "Pendragon" (now I know how Greg Weisman feels about his not having realized in time that he should have had Coyote "kill" Goliath and Co. in "Grief" only to discover that they couldn't die while the Emir had Anubis imprisoned). A thought that I had about Lucius's motivations around the time that I was working on Season Three, but wasn't fully able to work into "Pendragon" thereafter (and which came too late to use in Season Two) was this:

Lucius has deeper motives for working for the Unseelie Court than just power for himself. The man genuinely believes that humanity has proven itself to be so hopelessly incompetent that it ought not to be in charge of its own affairs. Left to themselves, the human race has produced warfare, tyranny, crime, terrorism, pollution, corporate corruption, domestic abuse, reality television, etc. Lucius finally decides that allowing humans to govern themselves is like giving a 5-year-old the keys to the family car. They need something superior to them to rule over them and keep them in line, and he sees Madoc as being that "something superior". From his perspective, he's helping the Unseelie Court win as a means of saving humanity from itself.

This fits in a little with Saruman's motivation (in the book, not the movie) where he's after the Ring because he believes that he could genuinely do a better job of ruling Middle-earth than anybody else could. An even stronger parallel (and the partial inspiration for my idea about Lucius's motives) is that of King Pryderi in Lloyd Alexander's "The High King", the final book in the Chronicles of Prydain series. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this in time to establish this firmly in Lucius's characterization in Season Two; he comes across, therefore, as more of a straightforward power-hungry sorcerer like the Archmage. Which is a bit of a pity, but there's not much that I can do about it now.

I was amused by your suggestion of Alan Rickman for the voice of Braddock; it would make a pleasant change for the man since he usually plays the part of villainous or semi-villainous characters (the roles of his that I'm most familiar with are the Sheriff of Nottingham in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies - not that Snape is a genuine villain, of course, but he certainly doesn't enjoy a great reputation at Hogwarts). Although Braddock is an antagonist to Arthur, he's a well-intentioned one who thinks that Arthur's a criminal terrorist whom he needs to stop (the "Pendragon" equivalent to the police officer who was after Dr. Kemble in "The Fugitive"). I'd say more about him, but I'd better wait until you finish Season Three.

At any rate, thanks for your comments. I enjoyed reading them.

I just finished reading the first story of Pendragon, Season 3. It was short, but I enjoyed the "Journey"-esque style of it, the way it set the stage for many different things. It'll be interesting to see where it goes. I have an inkling on who that mysterious woman probably is. Akham's Razor (don't know if I spelled that right) suggests it's Morgana, but I've been wrong before. By the way, I particularly enjoyed that picture of Arthur and Emrys at the end of the story. It's definitely one of the finer illustrations I've seen in the Saga. Does anyone know if Miss (or Mrs.) Hayden has a website that contains more of her artwork? I'd like to peruse some.

Oh, and Spen, I don't know about you, but here's what I've got so far mapped out in my mind voicewise.

Colin Marter: Tom Wilkinson.
Agent Braddock: Alan Rickman.
Sergeant Winslow: David Thewlis.
Brock: Norman Lloyd.
William Powell: Gabriel Byrne.
Dulcinea: Catherine Zeta-Jones.

That's all I've got for right now. I don't if we'll be seeing more of Adrians, but I had him in my mind as either Jason Isaacs or Christopher Lee.

Todd: I remember you telling me that a few months ago. I just remember enjoying it because Demona had once come very close to wiping out civilization, and then wound up saving it. Greg has mentioned that as far as Season 4 is concerned, things will get worse before they get better. So my own theory is that, given what happened to her in Season 3, she'll regard the good in her (which came to the surface for the first time in a long time in "The Reckoning," and for the most part has been expanded upon in TGS) as a weakness, and will do everything she can to try and rid herself of it. But in the end, will realize that she can't deny it, because it's a part of who she is. That's just my theory. I'll wait and see. Meantime, I've got plenty to tide me over, although I will have to finish reading Part 2 of "The Menagerie" before I can get back to Pendragon.

Harvester Of Eyes : Actually, we know for fact that Mandy was in "Awakening" since there was a referance to Elisa pulling her underwater in "Fealty" so chances are, if she got out of the submerine the other three did as well.

And by the way, you're right, I don't see any ads for goons in the paper (though generally the only section of the paper I read is the obituares. Just to make sure my name isn't in there.) However, Xanatos was not the one who hired them in "Fealty" if my memory serves me right, it was the Iluminati who hired them.

Also, you were quite right, I do "hear" the voices whenever I'm reading TGS (or anything else for that matter.)

Todd : Yes you did say once that you got the idea for Madoc's voice from Frollo (in 1999 to be exact.)

HARVESTER - I'm glad that you enjoyed both the way that we killed Madoc off and the idea of his being voiced by Tony Jay. Both of them were ideas of mine, actually. I think that I got the idea for Tony Jay as Madoc's "voice actor" from the way that he did Frollo's voice in the Disney animated "Hunchback of Notre Dame"; I'm not 100 per cent certain, mind you, since it was eight years ago that we began working on TGS.

And, yep, I'm glad that you didn't ruin the surprise of seeing how Madoc died. That was an idea that I'd had from very early on. (Originally I'd thought of actually Demona and Castaway both killing Madoc, Demona armed with her mace and Castaway with his Quarryhammer, which would have made the irony even more apparent - Madoc, who spent his life encouraging hatred between humans and gargoyles, winds up being killed by the human and gargoyle most firmly associated with that hatred. But we changed it to just Demona after we decided to have Castaway reduced to a state of permanent inactivity at the end of "Turncoat". While the irony became less obvious, I think that it made the revelation of the true "union between humans and gargoyles" even more of a shock by it turning out to be Demona's condition after "The Mirror".)

Incidentally, even the ending of "Timedancer" Season Two gives away something that you won't want to know while reading "Pendragon" Season Four, so you might want to hold off for a little while yet.

Spen: The point behind my post was that if Greg ever gave those guards names, they were probably different than their names in the TGS story "Fealty." And given that I saw "Monsters" just the other night, and taking what Todd said into consideration, I'm going to assume that unless Taleweaver had those specific goons from "Awakening" in mind, Xanatos hired some new ones to replace the ones currently residing at the bottom of Loch Ness. Wonderful thing about goons, that: no matter now many you lose, there always seem to be twice that number to take their place. Well, it's good if you're Xanatos. Although I can't figure out where he'd get them from. You don't see too many ads in the Classifieds for goons. Maybe Gen-U-Tech clones them for him. Or maybe he uses Monster.com.

Oh, and by the way, your post leads me to suggest that when you read character dialogue in your head, you give them a certain voice. Is that the case? I do the same thing. I skimmed through the Guide to the Unseelie Court, looking just at the voices, and not at the history of each character. Good thing, too. If I knew what happened to Madoc before I read the story, I would have been deprived of perhaps the nicest surprise from Season Two of Gargoyles/Pendragon (hell, one of the coolest things to happen in TGS in general). But anyway, long story short, I always felt that a voice like Tony Jay's complemented Madoc's dialogue very well.

And that's two votes? In that case, I've decided to just go ahead and finish reading the entire Pendragon series before I finish Timedancer (well, I might finish season two; I'm half done with that).

TGS was well along when Ask Greg debuted and caused much consternation among the staff. We finally decided that we couldn't go back and change what had been already determined just because Greg said something to the contrary and deviations continued from then on out.

It did make for some interesting discussions...

Hey Green Baron, glad you're still among us!

Eye of Odin Timeline > Interesting idea. More interesting to pick a point somewhere upon it and tell us a story... ;)
Looking forward to seeing all the anthology entries.

Of course, it's worth pointing out (though I'm not certain that we were aware of it at the time that we were working on Season One) that the bulk of the Xanatos Goon Squad from "Awakening" would no longer be around by the period after "The Journey" (when the present-day portion of TGS was taking place) since they were drowned at the end of "Monsters" (except for Bruno).

Fealty> I haven't read that story in a dragon's age. It'll take me awhile to recall the source for all the names of the XCG. I do remember that I weaved Harvey in from "Thrill of the Hunt", he was one of the Evil Ninjas who sparred with Fox. I figured keeping characters from the series as much as possible. I'll let you know if I remember anymore.

Eye of Odin> Hey, I was spindling ideas around for the Eye of Odin contest. I was wondering if anyone has put together a history of the Eye of Odin. I know that odin gave up his eye in the days of yore and lore. The Eye floated around gaining a reputation in magical circles before winding up in Xanatos possession. The Eye made appearences in "The Edge", "Vows", "High Noon", "Avalon Pt. 2 & 3", and "Eye of the Storm".

Anything else anyone care to add?

Harvester Of Eyes : I think you misunderstood my question. I meant, was it John, Daryl or Harvey who said "Nice mask" in Awakening part 2. I know very well that Greg has nothing to do with TGS. also, of course I already read "Sacrifices" it was the one right before "Fealty" (though you can't have known that I had read every episode before I even started lurking here) and by the way, I agree with Todd, you should read Pendragon season 4 before reading Timedancer season 4.

Spen: While it is extremely well-done, the Gargoyles Saga is, to my knowledge, still non-canon, which means that Greg Weisman has nothing to do with it. I know he voiced one of the Xanatos goons in "Awakening, Part II" (the one who told Lexington, "nice mask!"), but if the TGS Staff gave those guards names for their stories, I think that they were names created by the staff. But I know that the TGS staff looks to Greg for general inspiration, and a few things Greg has talked about on his website have been incorporated into the stories here. As you'll eventually read (if you haven't already), they've given Fang and Claw real names. Greg has said on his website that the two characters had real names, but I don't think he's ever revealed them. The same might be the case for the rest of Xanatos's men, with the exception of Bruno. But you'll have to ask the writer of "Fealty." Maybe he had a voice scheme in mind and maybe he didn't. And as for your Timedancer question, if you have to ask, you'll never know.

Well, according to what I've read, Benedict XVI hates gays AND every other religion except his. The Catholic Church is doing an outstanding job of upholding the idea that it fears change. All he needs to do now is continue to promote the spread of AIDS in by saying safe sex came from Satan's ass-crack, just like his predecessor, and the Vatican can start making T-Shirts. So, does Benedict regard women as second-class citizens?

Well, for a change of pace, how about some TGS questions?

First off, in "Fealty" we found out the names of the "Xanatos goon squad" and I was wondering, which one was voiced by Greg Wiesman?

Also, in "For Old Times Sake" Brooklyn had a line to Khensu saying "Oh great, now he's going to put verbs at the end of his sentenses" (or somthing like that) to which Khensu replied "Please Brooklyn I'm much taller than he was and have more hair" who was he talking about?

And, was the person who was out jogging and found the dead body in "Razor's Edge" The Jogger?

I think that's all for now, sorry to bug you with old questions.

Greetings to all. I am not dead, but I feel like I'm in Purgatory, so to speak.

I am looking for work, as my last job didn't work out and I'm hoping to go to Grad school at SUNY IT in the fall. Karen and I plan to wed in August of 2007, too.

Other than that, my life is uneventful, but what else is new?

On the new Pope> John Paul II was a man I had great love and admiration for. I will always call him My Pope, though Benedict XVI has yet to earn that title, and I doubt he will.

John Paul II was instrumental with Reagan, Thatcher, Walesa, Solizhnetsyn (wrote The Gulag Archipelago), and Rand in fighting Communism and bringing down the Soviet Empire, leaving only Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, China, and UC Berkely :)

While John XXIII was a little too cozy with the Reds, John Paul II actively and rightfully fought them, though of course he met with guys like Trudeau, Carter, and Castro, so nobody's perfect.

My faith is not what it once was, and with John Paul II dead, I have no reason beyond my own benefit for remaining one (well I like their marriage rites and requirements).

I don't want the Catholci Church to eb too up to date, as I like the celibacy, robes, music, art, and latin, plus if it gets too with it, it will be a hollow husk of fluff, like some "Have a Nice Day Christian" Churches are.

I am glad that Mahoney wasn't picked nor was that traitor Law.

On a more interesting note, there is an interesting prophesy that Ratzinger fulfilled..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes

If the next guy is Peter II, I'd say to start going to Confession or to live like there's no tommorrow, as the end will be nigh, and that will be coming up as Bendict XVI is 78 and probably a transitional Pope who wil make no changes....of course John XXIII was a transitional Pope and he took credit for Vatican II. John Paul I was predicted to have a major imapct on the Church, so speculation is always bad when it comes to the Pope.

Personally I'll judge the new Pope by what he says now. I figured the Nigerian Cardinal would be picked, but I am not a gambling man for good reason. I agree with Tribun and Whitbourne about the guy being unlikable, though Martini was the most affable and I hardly see him having a chance.

Schroeder praised the new choice of Pope, which is surprsing as I see them on opposite sides of many issues. French President Chirac may even honor Benedict XVI by surrendering to him :)

If you want a Nazi cleric, look at Charles Coughlin, Detroit priest and demagouge who had a magazine called Social Justice. He often attacked FDR for not being left-wing enough economically, as well as being anti-capitalist and anti-semitic (Coughlin was, not FDR).

I am more Capitalsit than Catholic these days and I don't see Ratzinger embracing capitalism, but I doubt he'll condemn like John XXIII and Paul VI did.

In other news, Spain acts imperialsitic, but for a good cause.

Well, Ratzinger, aka. Benedict XVI. now, is many things, all what I predected they would choose in the Conclave.

Ratzinger is very old, ultra-conservative and a real assholte to anyone who is not a Catholic or has different ideas how to go on with the church. I can't be happy for the first German Pope in nearly 500 years, when it is such a dislikeable man.

Concerning his past in the third Reich. Ratzinger is 78, so he was born 1927. He was 6 years old when the Nazis took over 1933, so he automatically went through the NS-yourth groups and later the HJ. He was just 12 when WW II stated, and was most likely drafted later in the war with 16-17 years, to be cannon fodder.

So at least this you can't hold against him....

So, Benedict got the black egg, huh? Unless Greg is right, in which case there is no black egg. Does anyone have any news links which contain more information on the man's background? Unless Greg is calling him a Nazi because he happens to be German.

Speaking of the Matrix: does anyone know if FASA (the makers of Shadowrun) were successful in suing the Wachowskis? Please let me know if I need to explain more.

Revel: Does this mean, according to the definition of "warrior," that Goliath and his clan are not warriors? I feel this definition might have been more accurate in the 10th century when the clan was greater in number, but in modern times, I would think that strategy would play a larger part, due to the fact that the Manhattan Clan are smaller in number.

Well, it's time for another six hours of Princeton Data Source training. I've worked at a polling center before, but for some reason, I need 27 hours of training at this place. Ah, well, at least I'm catching up on sleep (and learning to sleep with my eyes open).

DPH:
Also warriors are more credited as fighting for themselves. Barbarians, Vikings, Raiders, etc. They use their own fighting styles and often just try to over take an enemy by sheer numbers without a battle plan or strategy.

Soldiers follow a strict command structure and are well organized, uniformed, PAID combatants who utilize command and strategy over sheer numbers.

that's a pretty generic definition difference.

Patrick:<<a chance to hear all about what we have in store for the Gathering's tenth anniversary.>> You mean the 10th annual Gathering, right? Because wouldn't the 10th *Anniversary* be 2007 (the 11th annual Gathering)?

I guess a warrior fights for what he believes in, a soldier mainly follows orders.

Dezi> <<Having never seen a palm tree>>: You've seen plenty in movies, and that should give you a good enough image.

Patrick> <<what we have in store for the Gathering's tenth anniversary>>: Close to Hollywood, so you have a better chance at nabbing guests?

Na zdorov'ya.

Well, it looks like I'm starting a new job soon. This one's at a polling center. Basically, we annoy people during dinnertime. Whatever. It's work, it's got benefits, and it'll help me prolong the life of my car (in addition to providing me money while I continue to interview for real jobs).

By the way, I found another Genesis reference in TGS: the names of Nightstone's board members in "Signs and Portents." Now if I could just find Genesis Live on a format other than CD, I could get the live rendition of "Supper's Ready" without paying box set prices.

And I figured I'd repeat this question since the CR got itself wiped. I've heard of the existence of a website that has a list of all the scenes Toon Disney edited from Gargoyles. Does anyone have the link to that site? Since it's been quite a few years, the one edit I was able to spot (and the one that most pissed me off) was from "Leader of the Pack." I always liked how we cut from Goliath leaping into the air, and then the next time we see Coyote, its head has magically vanished. Maybe the robot head fairy came and got it.
