Urgh! I missed "Family Guy." I knew this day was coming, but it just...slipped my mind completely. So, did anyone here catch it?

Kathy just remember, it wasn't an accident. It was skill. coordination, and timing. All bad. Heal well and good.

It is indeed May day or Beltaine and I believe Ladys' day on the medieval calender.

Woot for the Guide!
It made me giggle a lot.
But there was this stupid guy sitting on the other side of me, who kept glaring at me and my friends every time we laughed. Yeah, we laughed alot (wasn't that the POINT) but we weren't the only ones. I think he was trying to impress his GF. In any case, afterwards I over heard them talking, saying they didn't get it. Then he told me and my friends to hurry up and clear out the aisle (we were standing there, talking while waiting for the line to open up so we could leave). He goes, "could you guys, like, move....(when we weren't moving) or whatever."
Jerk.
Oh well. I just wished I woulda went off on him. That woulda been fun....

I just got back from the cinema. I went to see "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." I thought they did a decent job. They tried, for the most part, to retain Adams's original humor, which means that a lot of dialogue was pulled straight from the book. I very rarely like book adaptations, but I think since Peter Jackson, they're starting to find more directors that actually care about the subject matter. I haven't seen a decent Philip K. Dick adaptation since "Blade Runner," but what I have read about "A Scanner Darkly" looks interesting. I also saw a trailer for "Batman Begins" before the movie. Despite myself, I'm growing more and more excited about it.

"Have you ever stood in an April wood and called the New Year in? While the phantoms of 3,000 years fly as the dead leaves spin? There's a snap in the grass behind your feet and a tap upon your shoulder. And the thin wind crawls along you neck, it's just the old gods getting older. And the kestrel drops like a fall of shot, and the red cloud hanging high..." -Ian Anderson.

Happy Beltane, everyone. Tomorrow's the Russian New Year. Anyone else here think we should have a parade and serve hot hors d'oeuvres?

In the same fashion, yesterday two morons... I mean, terrorists belonging to ETA (Basque independist organization) were arrested after they left a gun with the symbol of the gang in a handbag they forgot in the laundry. Best of all, they returned asking if someone had found the gun.

Someone e-mailed this to me today. I'd say this beats both the guy who robbed a convenience store and set the gun down on the counter (right in front of the clerk) so he could count the money, AND the guy who robbed a house, lost one of his shoes while leaving, went back the next day while police were still investigating the crime scene and asked for his shoe back.

The best part is, we don't have to waste valuable taxes on this guy's prison term. Of course, my dad theorizes that the man was trying to commit suicide.

HARVESTER - I'm glad that you enjoyed "The Curse of Rivencroft"; I enjoyed writing it myself. The Chimera won't be back, though; the scene at the beginning where the Tablet of Amisodarus being destroyed was intended as only a brief little reference to "Dark Ages" and nothing more.

I just finished reading "The Curse of Rivencroft." I can see why some people might consider it one of their favorites, but I can't make any judgments on that until I've finished the season. I would have to say, though, that I particularly enjoyed what happened at the end. I thought they were taking the easy way out with smashing the statue, and then...BAM! We've just barely been introduced to Mary Sefton, and now she's a werewolf. I wonder who else Arthur and Merlin are going to be picking up. I'm also wondering if we'll see the Chimaera at some point. Unless I'm mistaken, that creature that materialized and then vanished when the treasure hunter broke the tablet was the Chimaera. Unless there's more than one.

This story, more than others I've read, has reminded me of something. I've talked to a few people who've deliberately avoided reading Pendragon because it doesn't star Goliath or the Manhattan Clan. I consider this a shame, because those people have missed out on some great stories. I mean, what is one of the key ingredients in the Gargoyles universe? The idea that all myths have a grain of truth, and the juxtaposition of these "myths" in modern society. And honestly, what's a better embodiment of that than a sixth century British monarch who's had an entire field of study devoted to him reawakened in the 20th?

Todd--yeah technically it was both the movie and the book. I pointed out to my parents that the Perdita in the book was actually adopted to nurse half the puppies and she was liver spotted. Our Perdita also had the deep brown spots.

Our Pongo is still with us. He's not a purebred Dalmation though, he has some lab in him.

HoE: It doesn't matter if you "claim" the spot by calling out or not- the first ten people to post are the first ten people to post. *shrug* It's just become tradition to call it out if you're among the first ten...but it's not required. On the same note, the same person can't post twice in the top ten and claim two different spots; they are still only one person posting. Unless they're Doug...

anyway, back to work for me. *ptoof*

Starsinger: Actually, Todd didn't officially claim the tenth spot with a statement. So I think you could have snatched it.

Starsinger and Spacebabie: And I'm sorry to hear what happened to both of you. I haven't owned a pet in a while, not since my guinea pig, Dino (1994-1997). I like to think I could have gotten a few more years from her (I know some species live as long as seven), but I was away on vacation, and the person taking care of her was completely oblivious to the fact that she caught a cold. So by the time I got home, she had wasted far too much and it was too late for the vet to do anything. In the end, all anyone has is memories, and I hope that for the two of you, they were good ones.
