Dezi> Congratulations.

Revel> <<the first answer is always the same that is, "What ever makes you happy">>: Heroin, straight up?
<<it is recommended that with a beef or hearty meal that one chooses a Red wine to match the heavy flavor>>: Yeah, yeah, match the color of the wine to the color of the meat. But what different reds for different cuts of the cow?

HoE> <<my post on April 1st, which I don't know if you read>>: I read it, just completely forgot it by now. Though I still hold that 6:16AM is an evil time to be awake.
<<offers in the mail for consolidations with less interest and smaller monthly payments>>: But were they variable rate?

Hi, i'm a new fan of the Gargoyles and i love the darker feel Disney gave the series. I also like how Xanathos, Fox and Demona isn't just average cardboard type villains but seems to be far more complex and have some redeeming qualities.

Thanks. I kinda have a job already (Photographer at WIIH Univision Indiana) but it's currently part-time. I'm weaseling as best I can for full time, so we'll see. I heard though, that they don't make you pay it back right away, if you don't have full time employment..Is that true?

DPH: Yeah, I think we had a little misunderstanding. There were links in that post, at least from my perspective. I don't know what other people could see, but rather than cause any more damage than I already had (although the damage so far had been minimal; when my AIM started automatically IMing everyone on my list a malicious link, I think I stopped just about everyone from opening it), I decided not to risk it, and sent a warning. I apologize if I sounded a bit testy. Sleeping six hours and then spending most of your evening trying to fix a naughty computer will have that effect.

Gside: Actually, my little Satanist remark was a reference to my post on April 1st, which I don't know if you read. I know Todd read it (heh!).

Dezi: Congratulations. My brother graduated yesterday. I like how James Madison University does it. They have everyone march in the morning, and listen to the guest speaker (who, this year, was the Secretary of the Treasury). Then, the seperate schools break off for seperate diploma handouts. The cool thing was, the family doesn't really need to be there to hear the guest speaker. I remember my graduation took over three hours. Anyhoo, I'm afraid I will have to agree with Revel. I hope you didn't borrow any money, or else you'll discover, as I did, that those institutions are very rude and demand you give it back. And the best part is, it was only after I consolidated with Sallie Mae that I started getting offers in the mail for consolidations with less interest and smaller monthly payments.

Unless, of course, you have a job lined up. In which case, life rocks.

Gside- yeah that sucks, If I had tacked on some extra classes my last two semesters and and one more semester I could have double majored in Art and History. I would have been a zombie and hated myself with no social life, but it could have been done.
As far as what to drink with that the first answer is always the same that is, "What ever makes you happy" however it is recommended that with a beef or hearty meal that one chooses a Red wine to match the heavy flavor. The most popular being a Burgundy, Bordaux, or Merlot. my professor would probably have said Merlot because it is extra dry... I personally find something wrong with a drink that makes your throat dry.

Revel> <<Fake? aww now that would upset some one>>: You don't get to be upset until you major that requires you to be one class shy of a math minor.
<<Surprisingly I remember quite a lot and kept all my notes>>: So what type of wine do you drink with Beef Wellington, as opposed to a nice New York Strip?

HoE> <<My clock is the one who told me to become a Satanist>>: Apparently, the true number of the beast is 616. Which is actually a time, and not a nice one to wake up at, either.

Gside- Fake? aww now that would upset some one. Actually Beverage survey as funny as it sounds was a real class because there was a School of Hospitality and Managment on campus. ofr them it was a part of their major criteria and was a lot to remember. Especially since most of it was in foreign languages. Control districts, distilation processes, what gets barel time, what type of barrels, from where? But it was fun, I used it as an advanced elective because I needed one and didn't have time to take another art class. Not a blow off though. Surprisingly I remember quite a lot and kept all my notes.

Spike: This could help energize the CR.

I know that the developing fetus in an egg gets its nourishment from the yolk. As the fetus develops, the yolk gets smaller and smaller. The question is, would a gargoyle egg contain a yolk? I believe Greg has said that the developing fetus turns to stone inside the egg, but if it's in a shell and also in a darkened room, I imagine it's not getting much solar energy.

Perhaps when the egg develops inside the female (before it's laid), she turns sunlight into a food source for the egg.

Here's a question for the room: My son's Scout troop is doing a bird project (They put up several types of bird houses, registered their locations via GPS, and are going to observe them on monthly campouts to see what happens.) so we have a lot of bird magazines laying around. In one of them, a reader asked why she saw birds eating ash from her paper burner. The bird expert replied: "A bird's reproductive cycle often requires special nutrients it must acquire prior to laying eggs." This made sense to me because when I was pregnant, I ate a lot of things I wouldn't normally. A good example is that most pregnant women crave salty foods in the first trimester because that's when most of the amniotic fluid is being produced and that is primarily saline.

My question for the room is this: What kinds of things do you suppose female gargoyles must eat in order to produce an egg with a 10 year gestation period?

Todd: I have heard that theory. Sadly, as I was reading the story, I was reminded of the watered-down blockbuster that came out last summer. Although, I did enjoy how the movie depicted Merlin. If there was even such a man who once bore that name, that is probably what he might have been. Though I would have to say that I was also reminded of "Return of the King," so that ultimately canceled out "King Arthur" in my mind.

Last summer, my cousins and I rented "Excalibur" the day after we saw "King Arthur" in the theater. I always loved how great expanses of time passed in that movie without the benefit of title cards to explain just how many years went by. But what I found an even greater shame is that although I loved the choice of Nicol Williamson as Merlin, I felt that he acted too much like a buffoon. When I saw "Spawn," and the way he played the mentor character in that movie, I thought, "why couldn't he have sounded more like that when he played Merlin in 'Excalibur'?" So I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but for older Merlin in the Pendragon series (the way he appears in flashbacks), the voice I had in mind was Nicol Williamson, but the way he sounded in "Spawn."

HARVESTER - "The Sleepers" was actually a sort of "filler episode" - it advances the main plot arc, of course (as in revealing that Morgana was the one who framed Arthur) - but its real purpose was to keep another arc for Season Three from moving along too early. I can't say yet what that arc is, but in another few episodes, you can probably guess what it is yourself.

The Sarmatian ghosts were inspired by a theory by a few Arthurian scholars that the Arthurian legend was partly inspired by the folklore of Sarmatians brought to Britain during Roman times as auxiliary troops. I even considered asking one of the proponents of this theory whom I knew a little about (she's a regular poster on Arthurnet, which I've had an off-and-on subscription to, currently on) for some assistance on the episode, but decided against it, primarily because her posts on Arthurnet tended to be very prickly in a way that made her seem not much fun to work with.

Thanks for continuing to comment on the stories, by the way, Harvester. I really appreciate that.

I just finished reading "The Sleepers." For once, my suspicions turned out to be correct. I love it when that happens. I also guessed why Batraz gave Arthur that third test, and for a second, I thought it was taking the easy way out, but then I enjoyed how Batraz's reasoning tied into the lies Morgana told him about Arthur and Merlin. It should be interesting to see how and why they pop up again.

This season is starting to feel more and more like the World Tour, except limited to the United Kingdom. Despite the fact that they're running from the law, they still find themselves in situations where they can do good.

One of the things I love about Gargoyles: even when you've seen an episode several times, it still has something new to show you. I just got done watching "The New Olympians." First thing I noticed was in Act I. Angela seemed a little bit peeved. In fact, when she asked Goliath, "why are we putting up with this?", the tone in her voice reminded me of the conversation between Demona and Goliath in Act II of "Awakening, Part One." I guess she is her mother's daughter, after all. I also liked how one of the members of Taurus's security team (the centaur) looked sort of like Morgan. Was he voiced by Keith David? I think he had one, possibly two, lines. And it didn't sound like him, but as Greg said, the voice actors on Gargoyles were good at adapting. Oh, and I've never read Greg's ramble on "The New Olympians," but did he mention whether or not he found it weird that in Act III, when Elisa was taunting Taurus, she said "you'll have to do better than that"? Where have we heard someone on a hover device in the Gargoyles universe say that before? Was that intentional?

Oh, and I know that a few weeks ago, we had a discussion about the pros and cons of a Gargoyle clan out and out revealing themselves to the public. I've read what Greg had to say about the way he wanted the New Olympians spinoff to begin (which, by the way, made me happy. It was good to see they rebuilt Talos; I always liked him). So, what do people think would have happened had New Olympus chose to reveal itself to the world in the fashion that Greg seemed to have in mind, which was sending an envoy to the UN?

By the way: I've started doing research for my (hopefully forthcoming) TGC rewrite of "Ransom." I was just wondering: does anyone know who wrote the original episode? I would like to have that in the heading for legal purposes (also, I don't know where, but somewhere in the story I do plan to slip a very blatant "up yours" to the Goliath Chronicles production staff. Don't know where yet, I'm still in early outlines). Also, does Greg's website contain specific information about action/reaction between the Third Race and iron? I want to make sure I don't commit any faux pas.
