HARVESTER - I'll have to confess that we never sat down and worked out a proper self-consistent system for halfling life-spans; the information that we have in TGS is mostly the result of various ideas relating to specific halflings, with no attempt to turn it into a science.
For a start, Merlin's periodic sleeps were really just a plot device to allow for his rejuvenation as an adolescent, and probably owe more to the Doctor's regenerations in "Doctor Who" than to any strong theories about halfling life-spans.
Igraine's being one of the Third Race is actually something that I regret, because it makes Arthur a halfling and I believe that he ought to be 100 % human. We went that way in order to give Morgana some faerie background, and it didn't seem likely that Gorlois was at all connected to the Third Race. Later on, we found out that in Greg's Masterplan, Morgana wasn't Gorlois and Igraine's biological daughter at all, but a changeling swapped for their real daughter, something that we hadn't considered. That might have worked better, but it's too late to do anything about that now.
So there's no big theory at TGS (so far as I know) about halfling life-spans; it varies based on what our plans are for each individual halfling and what we want to do with him or her, rather than on a carefully-worked out science. Sorry about that.

I just finished reading "The Once and Future King, Part One." I'll hold off on a review until I've finished Part Two, but I just wanted to ask a question.
I think Greg once said that Fox was mortal, but due to the Fay blood in her, her lifespan would be longer than the average human's. I just wondering if this extended lifespan among those of mixed blood was one of the things picked up by the TGS ficverse. I think it is, but we see some halflings such as Merlin restoring their youth through rejuvenation spells. And I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what the average lifespan of a halfling might be without the aid of magic. If I remember correctly, I think Umbriel (may he rest in peace) was about 300, but I don't remember if he was doing anything magical to prolong his life. Maybe it depends on the nature of the Fay. Unbriel was Oberon's son, and Oberon's power is considerably greater than that of his Children.
Anyhoo, the reason I'm asking is because Arthur has the blood of the Third Race in him, as does Morgana (both from Igraine). But Morgana is a sorceress, so I'm sure she probably does something similar to what Merlin does. Basically, I'm just wondering how much the TGS Staff drew from Greg as far as halfling lifespans (Fox was the only one we ever saw in the canonical Gargoyles series, but he did eventually plan to introduce more in other series). Because Arthur does contain both mortal and immortal blood.
Unless this issue gets addressed in one of the stories, in which case, I'll learn it for myself.

If that's the regular series artist, then I'm pretty happy. But something's bugging me about the style, I know I've seen it before. From Elisa's face it almost, ALMOST, looks like Jeff Matsuda.

I found your site through a Google search and wanted to ask you a quick question. I have a limited edition lithograph of Thomas Blackshear's original painting "Goliath Surveys His Domain" This edition is limited to a hand-numbered quantity of 1000, with the original plates and all additional proofs destroyed. The lithograph was created using a special custom ink process and a 100% rag content acid-free museum quality stock. The lithograph is numbered and signed by the artist Thomas Blackshear. (I am copying this information from the certificate that came with the lithograph when sent to me from Buena Vista Television in 1994.)
If you might know someone that might be interested in this piece please pass this email along. I am not a dealer or collector but this was given to me when I worked at a television station and I've held onto it ever since. The poster is in perfect condition and has been framed and hung out of direct light since I got it in October 1994.
Thanks and feel free to email me with any questions-
Sincerely,
Marc

BISHANSKY - Sorry about the misspelling (I haven't seen the man's name in print often enough to memorize the correct spelling, I'm afraid). And, yep, I wasn't surprised by your remarks on "The Batman", and figured that you'd have no enthusiasm for the DVD on that basis, but was just curious over what people thought over the general notion of Batman and Dracula confronting each other.
I certainly don't have any problems, I might add, with Dracula in the Gargoyles Universe - particularly since I think that vampires would make appropriate adversaries for gargoyles at some point because of, again, the "twisted similarity" between hero and villain that Greg Weisman mentioned (vampires and gargoyles are both nocturnal, vampires can turn into bats while a lot of gargoyles have batlike wings, both are feared by humans and deemed mythical, etc.). Of course, this is coming from the person who actually wrote a TGS story having Goliath and his clan fighting Dracula.

I just came from amazon.com. Gargoyles Season One is only one review away from the 200 mark. We rock!
Speaking of Batman, I'll have to look into ordering the unrated DVD of "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" that Gunjack and Lain have told me exists. If people like "The Batman," that's their thing, I won't question it. But I'll stick with what works for me.

TODD> Yeah, I head about that DVD. No intention to buy it though, as I really, really hate "The Batman".
As for whether or not Dracula fits into the world of Batman. It has been done in the comics a few times, and Batman does exist as part of the DC Universe. So, in this case I would decide this based on whether the story is good or not. I have no confidence that this would be a good story.
Yeah, Batman does have some of the larger than life villains, Ra's al Ghul chief among them (you mispelled his name, btw Todd), though the Lazarus Pits have been written as pseudo science, Ra's created them centuries ago through alchemy. But there is a suspension of disbelief. I.E., I wouldn't have Batman fighting Darkseid on his own show, but on say, Justice League where the setting is completely different, it's not a problem.

Many of you have probably heard about the "direct-release" DVD about Batman fighting Dracula, and that got me wondering one thing. Do those of you who are Batman fans (I'm certainly looking forward to seeing your response on this, Bishansky) think that Dracula fits into Batman's universe, or not?
On the one hand, the big argument (for me) that Dracula does not belong in the Batman Universe would be that Batman's designed as a relatively mundane super-hero, whose "superness" comes not from any fantasy or sci-fi elements such as magic, coming from another planet, mutation, etc., but from simply being a highly intelligent and well-trained man with a lot of equipment and a drive to fight against crime because of the murder of his parents when he was only a boy. Most of his adversaries have a similar "slightly exaggerated" tone about them as well (the Joker, for example, being "larger than life" not in having any fantasy or sci-fi powers, but in his bizarre blend of greed and malice with a twisted sense of humor, wanting to laugh his victims to death). From this perspective, a fantasy being such as a vampire would appear jarring in Batman's world.
On the other hand, it's been said (by Greg Weisman himself, among others) that one of the best ways to make a great antagonist is to have him echo the protagonist, and Dracula fits that bill. He and Batman are both connected to bats. They both operate at night. And both are fearsome beings, Batman being fearsome to criminals, Dracula to humanity in general. So from that perspective, Dracula makes an appropriate adversary to Batman. (And Batman does have one or two "fantastic" adversaries out there, such as Reis el-Ghul, who's an immortal.)
So what do you think? Does Dracula work in the Batman Universe, or not?

Two new summaries are available: "The Reckoning" by D. Taina and "Upgrade" by Harvester of Eyes. Thus, I only need the 7 promised summaries that are missing from season 2 (one of those I'll do myself), the one already promised for Season 3 - and volunteers for 6 missing Season 3 episodes. Come on, people, we're nearly done.
On another note, I got asked if I'd take other reviews as well, to round off the single opinion of the sole reviewer Juan F. Lara. Yes, I would. Adding one or two additional reviews per episode would be a VERY good idea, (and if I get three, so be it), just to show that other fans maybe saw the episodes slightly different. As an example, Todd Jensen tends to post interesting rambles on all those episodes. Todd, would you be interested in having those put up at the GFW? If yes, could you collects them (maybe read them over) and send them my way?
The same goes for other fans - if you've got a review that you think is worth sharing - send it my way (but please mention the episode it belongs to - I don't want to go episode guessing :).
And even more requests: If you got a filk song about Gargoyles (or at least related to Gargoyles), and it's not already published on the GFW websites - why wait? Send it in, and it'll be put up as soon as I get around to do it. Take a look at http://www.gargoyles-fans.org/fanwork/songs/ to see what I already have - and check if your song is missing.

How about this for a discussion topic? If someone claims half of a spot, like Revel did, does that mean they're half of a person? And how would one define whether or not someone is half of a person? Would it be reduced height, or would they have to literally be missing half of their body?
And I do have one other discussion topic involving the chicken and the egg, but it would just degenerate into me telling a dirty joke.
I would suggest giving the favorite Gargoyles quotes thing one more go, but the last two times someone tried to start that topic, I don't think it took off.
