Taina: You were looking for inspiration? Write something flattering about the DVD's cover design and give it its twelfth review.

This is a random thought I had on Friday, and not that I believe in astrology, but for those people who actually do: I'm wondering if discovery of this tenth planet is going to require readers to update their calenders.

Cheers for the comments on "Ride the Wild Winds", Harvester. The whole thing was pitched by Mandi but I came in late in the day to help finish the writing. I never found Rory or his stories as intriniscally intersting as Arthur and company, but I loved Mandi's plot and there's a few parts influenced by real places I visited in Ireland (though I've never been to Ulster). I recall having a lot of fun with the myth retelling.

HARVESTER - Thanks for your comments on "Ride the Wild Winds". This episode had probably one of the most peculiar geneses among the episodes in "Pendragon"'s fourth season. The original idea was for Arthur and his friends to have an encounter with a biker gang that had developed a "knights of the Round Table" imagery (sort of like George Romero's "Knightriders", only with a more criminal tone). However, in the process, we began talking about Cuchulain's berserk fury and the possibility that the biker gang could operate as a foil to Rory because of that problem of his. And then we suddenly thought: why not make the bikers Rory's antagonists rather than Arthur's, and so shifted their imagery from Arthurian knights to a more "wild Irish warrior" tone - eventually coming up with the Wild Hunt idea behind them, and moved the setting to Ireland. We also made it a change-of-pace episode by having its leads be Rory and Leba with Arthur and his closest associates being off-stage for most of the story.

The episode also reflects some thoughts that I'd been having about Rory as we embarked on Season Four. While I had originally had the idea of Rory joining Arthur's entourage, I was having second thoughts about it. At the end of "The Hound of Ulster", Goliath was talking about Ireland getting one of its old heroes, and adding "and a land with a hero soon finds other deeds for him to do". That remark suggested to me that Rory's place was in Ireland, and made me question now my decision to have him working for Arthur in adventures set mostly in Britain; it now seemed to be taking him away from his protectorate. So I decided to shift things back to having him operate in Ireland once more. You could see "Ride the Wild Winds" as a step in that direction (though the only step that we took, since Season Four wound up being "Pendragon"'s last).

Spen: Thank you for the well wishes. Ten more years and I can run for president.

Todd: I'm finally finding the time to type something about "Ride the Wild Winds." Honestly, for some reason, the whole side plot involving Cuchullain hasn't really grabbed me too much. However, as someone who ranks "Hound of Ulster" on his list of favorite World Tour episodes, it was good to see a return to Ireland. And I did enjoy the flashbacks. I also like the way that the Unseelies keep popping up in unlikely places. It was curious, because the Guide to the Unseelie Court listed Herne as being slain by Xanatos. I was wondering about that myself, especially since someone's comments I read in the archives mentioned that they found it surprising that energy weapons would work against the Third Race (this was back in the week "The Darkest Hour" came out, before Pendragon Season Four). So the use of a loophole was nice. The character of Deirdre was also memorable. I can't help but wonder if we might see her again.

Since I'm semi-awake, I'll post some spoilers.

**tv spoilers**

Crossing Jordan - Detective Hoyle's actions seemed appropriate. But the way Garrett got his job back didn't feel right. Perhaps if the season had opened with 1-2 stories where Garrett wasn't around, it might feel less contrived. On the other hand, the guy quitting to give Garrett his job back didn't feel right; of course the way that guy ran things didn't work for me. What kind of person is more concerned with efficiency than finding the truth?

L&O:CI - yes, the writers did the right thing by not killing off Nicole. I relly enjoyed the fact that for once she was innocent. Every great detective needs a nemesis to keep him/her on toes. One question: why are they bringing Chris Noth into the series?

**end tv spoilers**

Thanks to help from my brother, I sucessfully installed a new sound card and speakers. Sound is working fine. Unfortunately, we discovered that dvd-rom, which I thought was a cd-burner also, isn't a burner. Oh well.

Todd - < I imagine that he or she is feeling very upset about it right now (if he or she is aware of the current posts in the comment room).> From what I'm aware of, that person in question has been through so much stress from other stuff that, frankly, that was a minor blip on the radar of stressors.

Yes, I'm in a good mood. *DC becomes alarmed and hops a portal directly into another universe.* Not that kind of good mood.

hoe - <All I can say is that I was glad I was born the day before September 31st.> what about people born on February 29?

Wednesday, I finally committed myself. I got a cashier's check to pay for my Gathering registeration cost and put in my mailbox before I went to bed. When I checked my mailbox, after coming home from college, it was gone. So the money is making its trip, probably going to take 7 days to arrive. :-( On the other hand, I'll be fully paid up. One question, I'm guessing that I probably need to wait until I hear an announcement before booking my flight so I can get book my flight and hotel room at the same time? Yes, I'm afraid of heights (it's looking down that makes me nervous).

Spen - <I'm still stuck with a Windows 98 second edition.> Hmm. I zipped the files up using w:me so if you had said you were using a mac it might make sense. I promise if I make it to the gathering, I'm bringing a cd of music from the tgs website. If not, I'll find for a cd containing the music from the tgs website to get there. <Um, a year having a 13th month might be possible here, but I highly doubt that there would be a 31st month.> You're not an experienced multi-universe traveller, right? This cr, or at least part of it, to the best of my knowledge, happens to fall at the intersection of many different universes.

DPH : "What operating system are you using when you try to download the timedancer theme song? Are you using a version of Windows? If so, which one?" I'm still stuck with a Windows 98 second edition.
"How so? Given all the wierdness in this cr, a year having a 31st month is a distinct possibility." Um, a year having a 13th month might be possible here, but I highly doubt that there would be a 31st month.

Todd : "I like people noticing "Fata Morgana" (a Pendragon story that I especially enjoyed writing), but not in this way." Well, look on the bright side. Harvester will be getting around to that one in just eight episodes.

Harvester : In case I don't get around to posting tomorrow, happy birthday!

Well, the Polling Center was extremely boring today. We started doing a survey for the Kaiser Family Foundation on children and technology. We're trying to interview households that have children age six months to six years, but those only constitute seven percent of all households in America. So needless to say it took me three and a half hours and a great deal of screening before I finally got one survey for the entire night. At least we're only doing this one until November 10th.

Let's not be too hard on the person who typed it out; it was most likely just a slip of the finger (something that happens all too often on the Internet). I imagine that he or she is feeling very upset about it right now (if he or she is aware of the current posts in the comment room).

I like people noticing "Fata Morgana" (a Pendragon story that I especially enjoyed writing), but not in this way.

That's why I use/used doublespeak when referring to the person who maintains the site. <Eh? I don't understand what you mean.> What operating system are you using when you try to download the timedancer theme song? Are you using a version of Windows? If so, which one? a version of Mac? <This seems to me to be completely impossible.> How so? Given all the wierdness in this cr, a year having a 31st month is a distinct possibility. <Is there anything in the CR rules that says we can't? > The problem is getting 3-4 people to commit to having an ongoing rp. It works best when one person isn't carrying most of the weight. What I mean is it works best when one single person in the rp is not doing more than 40% of the rp.

*glances around for a sign of the Balrog and, not finding him, enters pushing the floating bed with Seven's body. Seven now appears to be encased in a black mask and body armor which helps him breathe.*

DPH: How much do you know about Sound Cards? Ever since we rebooted back in May my computer hasn't had sound. I've checked the hardware, and I think the reason is that the C-Media AC97 Audio Device cannot start. All the troubleshooting at HP's website has gotten me nowhere.

Green Baron: I spoke prematurely. Gas rose to $2.75 while I was sleeping. Wonder where it will go while I sleep tonight.

Starsinger: One of the reasons I hope the Geico job pans out. Customers call us, not the other way around.

*Finishes talking, and leans over bed.*

Hey, Seven, can you hear me?

Seven: Yes. What happened to nine?

Um, well, nine's dead. Because you freaking ate him, remember? In fact, I initially killed you not long after you finished eating him, so pieces of nine are probably still in what's left of your digestive system. But look on the bright side: in your current condition, you'll never need food again.

*Seven tears himself from the bed, lumbers forwards like Frankenstein's creature, and shouts "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Harvester pulls out a glowing sword and chops Seven's head off*

OH, SHUT UP, YOU GODDAMN CRYBABY!

*pokes the headless corpse with his foot.*

Okay, well, get used to a world without seven, people, because I give up.

*notes with dismay that Seven's shouting woke the Balrog. Flees the CR with the Balrog in pursuit.*

I got computer problems, real bad. My xp home edition keeps starting up with a message of "lsass.exe system error: Object name not found". I can't get out of that loop. Since I can't find the solution to whatever that means, I'm stuck. In case you're wondering how I'm able to post, I installed a 2nd version of Windows XP Home Edition that is working fine except it does not know about the programs associated with the other, unworking version.

What's funky is I bought a new sound card and speakers to install one my pc since problems on my pc seemed to be gone. I wonder if tropical depression Rita had anything to do with it. Saturday night, in Arkansas, there were all kinds of flash flood warnings.
