Sad indeed. I also enjoyed Spencer in several movies. Just an all-around great actor.

Very, very sad news about John Spencer. He was magnificent on 'The West Wing', and he'll be sorely missed.

Guandalug la'Fay - Now, that I'm out for the semester, as soon as I find the notebook where I wrote my summary for the 1st half of The Green, I'll start writing the rest of my summary for it. Wait a second, I just found that notebook. I'll try to have my summary of the Green sent to via email by Wednesday.

Jacob - I didn't figure you would like the West Wing. What about it actually appeals to you?

*peeks in* Just this: New Review (by Todd Jensen - who else) 'Turf' posted on the GFW. Only a few more to go.

Now, I hate to be a bother, but what about the summaries promised? Come on, let's get a few more episodes from the missing list.....

Under the moon, did you know that the month of February is the only month where it is possible NOT
to have a full moon? The moon has a cycle of about 29.5 days. If there is a full moon at the end of January there may not be a full moon for February.
A Blue moon, is month where there are two full moons in a month. I remember on year when there was a blue moon in January and March (note both months have 31 days) but no full moon in February. There won't be a blue moon for a couple of years, as the moon cycle is full in the middle of the month. We just got over a full moon on the 15th.

Spike> You saw a Moon dog. I've caught a few of those, even seen a few sun dogs as a kid. The trick is not to look directly at the sun but off to the side. I never associated with snow. Not much chance of that in Southern California.

As for Gargoyle culture and the moon, I suspect the Maya clan would be the most astronomically linked. Full moons would be an active time not only because of the illumination, but you have a reliable marker of the passage of time. When the full moon sets, the sun is about to rise so no getting caught unawares.

For clans close to human population, the new moon might be an advantage for gargoyle clans. Sort of a take back the might campaign.

I'm curious if the gargoyles ever named constellations. The Wyvern clan didn't strike me as particularly creative but who knows about the other clans. The New Olypian clan would know the constallations from their mythologic neighbors. I'm sure Taurus and the rest would take some pride in the stars name after their ancestors.

So close, so close. I'm just short of missing my goal of 3.0 this semester. 3 b's and 1 c. 2.75 average. Still, appplied with grade forgiveness, that should bring me above a 2.0 overall. Oh yea, here's the recap: B in Health/Kped, B in Database applications, C in Managing Finance, B in vb.net 1.

**rant about grades**
On my finance test, I had copied most fo the damn formulas/ratios to be within my reach. In fact, I thought I had them all. Apparantly I missed a few. It was simply amazing how much information that I had within my reach . . that didn't show up on the final exam. Apparantly I wasn't the only one who was caught blindsided by the test.
**end rant**

**snaps fingers and a portal opens in the cr, quickly starting to flood it with chocolate chip cybercookies.**

Last night in Dallas, we were treated to an unusual lunar phenomenon, a ring around the moon. My grandmother liked to say that meant snow was coming and there's a bit of truth in that. My son was curious so we looked it up -- a ring around the moon is caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.

There are a LOT of folk sayings about the moon and it got me thinking: what would gargoyles think about these kinds of unique moon phenomena? There's rings and moon pillars and moon dogs, not to mention blood moons and hunter's moons. What kinds of interesting little culture or mythology would gargoyles come up with about the moon?

Murazor: Another thing I found amusing was the Wyvern Studios series done by DTaina. Basically, Xanatos started his own film studio, and was filming a version of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," with Elisa and Goliath in the respective titular roles. It also featured a lot of characters from the Gargoyles universe, such as Thailog as Gaston and the Trio as some of the enchanted objects in the Beast's castle. Taina's still working on another one (or maybe she's finished, I haven't asked her about it in a while) for the movie "Alladin," which has Demona directing instead of Xanatos. What I've read so far is hysterical. It's silly, but it's good silly. Or I think it is.

Murazor: I'm not sure I entirely understand what you mean by connections. I haven't read enough individual fanfic yet, but there was a reference to Genesis in TGS that made me smile. In "Signs and Portents," Nightstone's board members were named after former Genesis members Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford (their last names only; it's at the very beginning of the story). I'm listing this one because in another story (I think it was "In the Blood"), Demona (as Dominique) is talking to Collins, and Collins is described as being a short, bald man, very much like the real-life drummer/singer whom he shares a name with. I'm not sure that's what you're looking for, but it's all I have at the moment.

Spen - yes, the rescue effort isn't necessary. dph just escaped from Finance Final Exam and kissed getting a B in finance class goodbye and had to settle with a C. He had to miss a measely *2* questions on the finance final exam to get the B, and by his reckoning he has more than that many questions that he isn't sure about getting right. On the other, he had to get 65% on the test to get a C. 65% of 50 questions is 33 questions, which he feels he has definitely gotten right. Now for the vb.net test - and no computer lab that he can reach on campus has the software he needs to practice for it and it's a 20 minute drive for him to go back to study so this morning I fetched copies of code for him to study.

dph's point was he didn't think anybody would say anything that would bring him out instead of me during this week.

Just because I feel like posting a tiny bit here, I shall try to provide one topic. There are many fandoms out there, some enormous like Buffy or Harry Potter, there are also many unfairly small universes (too many to count).

From the beginning, crossovers have fascinated me. The reference of Sunnydale that can be found somewhere in TGS (I found it a looong time ago and I don't remember where exactly) made me smile. Do you feel the same? Do you like this kind of fanfic or loathe it? Have you read any that made you feel awed? Some extremely funny connection of incredible stupidity? Feel free to comment.

SPEM - I think that the problem here is that so far we haven't had any posts that could start off a good general discussion. What we've mostly had are "top tens", "Did you get my e-mail?" questions, etc., which don't provide the foundations for a lively talk with everyone able to jump in. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything at the moment; maybe somebody else has an idea?

And I'd say that we definitely need to think of such things early in the week, to prevent something like this from happening.

My master escaped from "database final exam" with a B, possibly A overall grade for the class. He just escaped the monstrosity of election day, with 84 people bothering to vote.

spen - dph plans on giving away cyber chocolate if he can escape with a 3.0 overall gpa this semester. The names of the figures who kidnapped dph are the things preocuppying dph's mind this week - final exams and election day. Mentally, those should kidnap him so he does well.

DPH's Hologram : Hmm, I guess I'll take a stab at rescuing DPH, (heck, I'd do just about anything for chocolate) however, I'll need some help.

*Spen walks over to a telephone booth, inserts a quarter, and dials a number. A few seconds later, someone answers.
"Hello?" "Hi, it's Spen. We've got a situation in the CR. Think you could come over?" "Sure, what's the situation?"
Spen explains what's going on. "Okay, I'll be down shortly."
"By the way, is anyone else at headquarters?" "Just Lee and Samantha." "Okay, tell Lee she's in charge while we're gone. Samantha's coming with us. Got that?" "Yep, g'bye." "Bye."
*Spen faces the CR* That should solve this problem.

SPACEBABIE - I have, although I only remember it vaguely (I saw it back in the late 70's). It was rather fun, though I recall that the animation was rather crude. It also followed the plotline fairly closely, apart from leaving out Father Christmas (the children receive their gifts from Aslan) and beginning "in media res" with Lucy running out of the wardrobe to tell her siblings about having visited Narnia and having tea with Mr. Tumnus. (After I recently found some stills from it in a Narnia forum, I noticed also that the children were wearing modern-day - for the late 70's clothing - rather than dressed like British children during World War II; apparently they'd gone for the updated tone themselves (as the fortunately never-made Paramount movie version that I mentioned here last week had threatened to do).
