...and you don't really drop your feet off...ee freaky thought...
last egg to hatch, maybe? doesn't seem a common enough occurence, and you need something in pairs or similar in order to get a similar metaphor. A lot of people, cultures, believe that bad news comes in threes, too. The phrase has darker connotations, since it is usually related to learning the downside of something that appears good on the surface. ...Maybe something that ties in more with nature?
Overall, that's a fun question to ponder.

Spike: Maybe just the other foot instead of shoe, since they don't wear shoes. Like waiting for the other foot to drop. I could see more "modern" gargoyles saying something like that. Maybe the old timers, Hudson's rookery would have some medieval phrase, but I'm not feeling too creative right now. :)

Indeed. It is quite amusing how much people in Virginia overreact to snow. If it even smells like it's going to snow, you can count on them closing the schools.
Strange as this may sound, I lived in New England for over 20 years. The air takes on a certain scent when it looks like it's going to snow.

Well, Albuquerque is now digging out of a 16.5" snow fall. Can we say "Snow Day"? As I told my mom, the good news is JoAnns is closed, the bad news is JoAnns is closed.
My neighbors shoveled the little bit of my walk clear, bless them, I have no shove, and went to the back of the apartments and made an igloo. They finished it with a tent for the roof
The night before I walked, rode and pushed my bike home. It was too deep to actually ride unless is was in the slush. We did break a record for most snow in a 24 hour period.

As far as I am concerned a few things need to happen...
1) At least ONE episode has to happen in one of the main series (I prefer the main, and timedancer). Once you kick off the new season there will be added pressure to release more episodes in the season... Right now I think there is a lot of pressure against starting it. I know I have felt the same kind of resistance when it comes to starting a new project -- It also happens when trying to finish a new project. Something episodic like this can suffer from both phenomenon (resistance to finalizing the first episode and starting the season).
2) The comment room cant go quite so long between wipes. Right now we have several chatty things in the comment room that probably shouldnt be near the head of the text but we are posting so very little that it is not being buried... At any rate it has been 2 months now which makes it WAY overdue.
3) We need some kind of weekly topic or something -- even if it is analyzing a prior season or episode in one of the series.... Just SOMETHING to keep people talking.
---
At any rate Merry Christmas...

As an early christmas present, Todd Jensen brings us a review of Clan-Building: The Journey, the second issue of the new SLG comics. As with the previous one, I still need a synopsis to go with the review, plus this time I need the remaining credits. I know a lot of people out there have this issue (and the previous one) - can one of you send me a short summary about what happens in the comic to post on the GFW? (Yes, I know I could copy&paste from the TGC episode 'the journey', but that's not going to help for future issues, so why start NOW?)
Speaking of summaries - a couple of Season 2 and 3 episodes still lack one. To be precise, I still need 4 episodes of Season 2 (3 of those unclaimed, one claimed by Harvester of Eyes) and 3 episodes of Season 3 (claimed by D. Taina). I can still access everything fine through TGS, except on occasion when the page pops up wrong, adding extra words even when the link you click does not include them. If you repair the tag, you get to the page just fine.
And I left a review- since you have to wait three days to send a Private Message and they hadn't left an email- on the fanfiction.net person's copy of Out of Joint 1 asking who they were and why they were doing this without asking or even informing the TGS staff of it.

The author says TGS and in the story itself it says the authors of the TGS story and it seemed to be Out of Joint part 1 (didn't read it all), but when I clicked on the author link, and then to Homepage (thinking it would lead me back here) it went to a place not found....

Find some regular glossy paper for the printing, and some heavy, heavy cardstock. after printing, glue the glossy to the backing with an adhesive that won't muck up the paper or bleed through the image. I think any office supply store would have the mats you need, or Kinko's.
And can some people who are not me reply to Shara's question? I've already spoken to her and she could use some more opinions.

I picked up Gargoyles #2 this morning. Now, I have three local comic shops nearby, and visited all of them to see how they ordered the book. The one I frequent most only ordered the one copy I asked them to... I am hoping this is not a trend at most places, so, as Greg Weisman says, keep SPREADING THE WORD, and find local comic shops and encourage them to order it
Another shop, inside the shopping mall had three copies on sale, which I guess is average when you're not a comic being published by DC or Marvel Finally, one more had several copies of issue one and two, it's their Indie book of the week, and they are really pushing it.. one of the employees is a fan. But, we can't count on all the employees to be fans, so we need to encourage the stores to keep ordering.
Now, on to issue 2 itself.
Gargoyles #2
Clan-Building Chapter Two:
The Journey
More old material, with some new bits of dialogue in there. A lot more name-dropping, which, well, is understandable given that Greg needs to re-introduce everyone to the series and characters.
When last we left Goliath and Elisa, they were being pursued by several Quarrymen in a helicopter. Goliath takes several shots in the wing and plunges with Elisa to their deaths. Obviously, they don't die, or this would be a very short comic book.
This issue re-introduces us to Macbeth, who appears as a guest on Nightwatch debating Margot Yale (sporting a pink outfit, and being twice as repulsive as Professor Umbridge) about the "gargoyle problem". Macbeth is, of course, using his Lennox MacDuff alias... a medieval scholer and the author of a book titled "Gargoyles In Celtic Legend". Margot is an Assistent District Attorney and advisor to the NYPD's Gargoyle Task Force.
We are also re-introduced to Lexington, Fox and Alex. Fox seems to want to mend bridges with Lex, who, still is not fond of her, but since she's Alex's mother, he's willing to give it a shot. I suspect it's not going to be easy on either of them.
Then, we get Xanatos, who is so cool and, well, arrogant, that he just ignores a call from the Illuminati. I suspect we'll be hearing more from the All Seeing Society very soon.
Finally, we are re-introduced to Broadway and Angela, who, much to Brooklyn's disappointment, have started a relationship.
Goliath and Elisa are pursued by the Quarrymen, finally making their stand at the ruined Clocktower, where they easily defeat the Quarrymen, but are nearly killed by the hooded John Castaway. Vinnie, who was never comfortable with this, at first tries to talk Castaway out of killing them, but when it becomes clear (to Vinnie) that Castaway is a genocidal fanatic, Vinnie stands up to him, and is nearly killed because of it. Goliath manages to get the drop on him, but Castaway escapes. I am sure he and his Quarrymen will continue to make their presense known in NYC.
Goliath and Elisa thank Vinnie for helping them, and leaves, as mentioned last issue, he got a job in Japan. Goliath, as always, remains optimistic about the future, and despite the long hard journey, he has no regrets.
The issue ends with Macbeth and Margot yelling at each other. "Madame, they burned witches like you in the middle ages."... best line in the whole issue.
Overall:
I liked it. I wish it didn't take us an extra four months to get, but I liked it. Greg's script is strong, I liked it ten years ago, and I like it today. But, it is material that I've seen before. I understand why Greg chose to start out with this story, it makes a great introduction, but two issues of old-stuff along with the long wait have made this feel like climbing over a mountain instead of a hill. But, we're past it now, nothing but new material from here on out.
The art... I'm sorry, but I'm still not a fan of either Hedgecock's pencils or Terrell's coloring. Thankfully, I read on Terrell's blog that he's leaving the book with this issue. I have hopes that the next colorist will me more experienced and will do a much better job.
Demona returns next issue, folks. I can't wait. Greg Bishansky - [<--- George Lucas's Table Scraps] "I am The Decider!" - President George Walker Bush posted @ Wed, Dec 13, 2006 1:03:39 pm EST from 68.202.44.89

Are there any characters from TGS, Dark Ages, Pendragon or TimeDancer that you would like to see NEW art of? The deadline is June 1st, 2007 and there has been a proposal to send the finished piece to the Gathering.
If you are interested, please drop Neomae a line or post it here and I'll be happy to pass it along.

We are about to start on a TGS comic for the gargoyle webcomic , this one will take us probally a little less then a year to put together because we want to have a finished book.
Before we start I just wanted to get some feedback on the website and the webcomic it's self. What we could improve on. (yes I know timing is a bad curse of ours)
What kind of art style you would like the TGS book to be in etc.
I had never read any of the TGS stories. I found this part of the website after attending a few gatherings. Nice work. I am enjoying reading through all of them

BISHANSKY - Good point about Nicholas; I suppose that I was thinking more in terms of your mention that Avalon doesn't mean that much to him, the way that it did to his grandfather.
His genocidal hatred of gargoyles, by the way, strikes me as all the more interesting since he's not only Madoc's grandson on his father's side, but related to the Canmores on his mother's (in Season Four of "Pendragon", Mary Sefton was mentioned as being related to the Canmores through her mother Fiona - a namesake descendant of the Fiona Canmore of "The Last"). Though the former is the more significant factor (the Canmores' hatred of gargoyles was due to nurture rather than to nature, and Mary - fortunately - never received the full extent of anti-gargoyle conditioning that Jason, Robyn, and Jon received; she and Merlin also took care to educate their offspring about the true nature of gargoyles).

TODD> I wouldn't say Nicholas is less ambitious than Madoc. He is very ambitious, it's just that his goals are different. Something I kept to myself while season four of Timedancer was being worked on, because I did not want the hand tipped so soon, since authors like to occasionally throw in hints.
It's not what Madoc would have gone for. For that matter it's not what Maeve and Garlon would go for either. Though one goal they do share is genocide of all gargoyles.
If I were to compare them literally. Madoc would be like Morgoth while Nicholas is a little like Sauron.
Morgoth and Sauron had different goals. Morgoth wanted to destroy all creation in defiance of his creator, Illuvatar. Sauron, when he became Dark Lord did not seek this, he wanted to conquer and rule all of Middle Earth as a God-King. One may be following the other, but those are very different goals.
Not saying those are what Madoc and Nicholas's goals are, just an example. It was important to me as I developed Nicholas's character that he not simply be Madoc II The Sequel. He is very different, and I planned to depict that in season five. My favorite question is what would have happened to Goliath's clan if the massacre hadn't occurred.
We know from Avalon part 1 that Constaine was working on a coup, but what part, if any, did Princess Katherine's arrival play on the timing of those events?
Too many variables to really work out things.

I wasn't planning on elaborating much more, since this is the TGS chat room and not the Lynati fic chat room...*^_^* it just seemed relevant at the time. But since you asked:
It was more about "okay, I know the SUW doesn't happen. Why would it not happen? ...Madoc must be dead. How did he die?" etc. I wanted to work out how the present came to be before I started developing the future. From what I recall, Merlin didn't know about Madoc's death. He always assumed Madoc was still out there, biding his time and watching for the opportune moment. So Merlin was pretty much the same to the extent of worrying about Madoc...until he uncovered the truth. (And if you are curious, Romulus never becomes Nicholas, something happened that kept Merlin from hiding the truth about their power, so even assuming Garlon made a try for Romulus, he was too loyal to his father to be easily led astray.)
And I never had the chance to focus on him and his potential growth after that point. Since I'm focused on developing TGS stuff and not my old stories right now, it seems a bit moot to go into the what-might-yet-be's.
...Unless you just want to have a discussion of how AU developments of characters might have turned out if they never were forced to come to turning points that were cruxes in their canonical characterization. *That* might be a topic to liven up the room with, move to generalizations and away from specific author's alternate takes on the master plan.
Lynati posted @ Tue, Dec 12, 2006 12:56:51 am EST from 70.242.186.69
I think that Madoc's response towards Nicholas would certainly have been interesting. On the one hand, as Bishansky points out, Nicholas seems more petty, which Madoc would have been disappointed by. On the other hand, I think that Madoc would have been delighted by the impact that Nicholas's activities would have had upon Merlin, with a tone of "Now you too will know the pain that comes from being betrayed by your own son!" The big question would be: which would matter more to Madoc? That his grandson was far less ambitious than he was, or that his activities would at least serve as a means for Madoc to get his final revenge on Merlin, even if beyond the grave? Pity that we'll never know.
Todd Jensen posted @ Mon, Dec 11, 2006 11:05:44 pm EST from 4.245.21.115
I think Lynati explained her idea of Madoc being killed in the 13th century a few years ago, but, it's her thing, I'll let her elaborate.
As for me, I think that if Madoc were killed long before the events of the Rising, many things would have been different. Loki would probably have still escaped when he did, and the Unseelies' power would have returned, but well, Madoc was their leader. The one they rallied around. Their chosen king.
I think the events around the time the Rising would have taken place would have been much more chaotic as so many of these malevolent fay would have revelled in having their powers return. Maeve may have rallied a few, but instead of being an organized, disciplined army, it would have been more like, say, al Qaeda, various "cells" of gods with a master race complex.
That's one of the things I wanted to explore in season five of Timedancer, with the new Unseelie Court, and how different Nicholas II's style of leading them is. Madoc ran things as a despot. A monarch. Nicholas, I always felt ran things more like a gangster, or a corrupt business man.
Honestly, I don't think Madoc would have approved. Especially since, Nicholas's goals were/are very different than his grandfather's. For example, he doesn't care at all about conquering Avalon. Why would he? He has no emotional attachment to the place.
I'd say more, but I don't know how much of the plan for him I handed the TGS staff after I retired they still plan to use. Greg Bishansky - [<--- George Lucas's Table Scraps] "I am The Decider!" - President George Walker Bush posted @ Mon, Dec 11, 2006 10:26:20 pm EST from 68.202.44.89
Madoc being killed back in the 13th century? It would have been interesting to see how that alteration would have changed Merlin, given that a major aspect of his characterization in the first two seasons of TGS was his fear of his father being after him. Would he have been more at ease in the present-day - or not (though maybe in this case out of the fear of how much of his father might be in him)?
Though, of course, Lynati's scenario probably focused on how Madoc dying before 1300 would have impacted the other Unseelies (such as Maeve and Garlon) than on how it would have impacted Merlin. It certainly gets me curious, all the same.

Spike: Cool. I love watching how your take on it develops; after I discovered the TGS universe my own world wound up incorporating large bites of it (or rather, examining how TGS-based events would have unfolded if certain plot elements were removed; e.g. Brooklyn never becoming the Timedancer and Madoc having been killed back in the 13th century). The whole gargoyles fandom fiction lives off of diversity, after all; if we were all telling the exact same story as eachother or Greg Weisman, the reading wouldn't be *nearly* as interesting.
AJ: I'm sure both the previous and current staff members appreciate hearing that; I do and my public contributions are only a gnat's hair of the project. I hope you find the future seasons of Gargoyles as enjoyable as the ones already released.

If you want real raids there are better places to get them. I really think where wow went wrong was not having a level 150 cap and 3 more continents.

I don't mean everything needs to be finished before you start, just that it is possible for it to be finished. I think we had 20 out of 24 Pendragons done before we ran S4 and that just about worked because everything could be finished up in the 5 month span. But I'd say it's better to wait a little longer and be careful than to get ahead of the game and risk ending up with RL giving TGS GBH of the schedule.
As for losing the audience, I think if people are still reading now, the better part of a decade since the last 'Gargoyles' season, they're fairly likely to be checking in a year from now. It will only be worth checking in regularly though if you can get that momentum going.
On the other hand, if you can make the segments feel like there's a sense of climax that could work well. UK television seasons are generally 6 or 10 episodes, rarely any more than 13. But those are whole seasons, not just part of seasons. Depends what the flow of the episodes is really. Should be fun to see, anyway.

Yeah, ideally, you'd want one a week, but I still think releasing them in chunks is okay. You're at least getting material out there. Certainly nothing wrong with not having the whole season ready when the first story is posted.
Afterall, few professional TV shows go through their entire seasons for 22 episodes without occasional breaks.
Hell, Gargoyles didn't have all 52 episodes ready to go for season 2. We had new episodes from September till November, then new eps in February and then new eps in May, if I recall correctly. Its been over ten years.
But, oh yeah, TGS is definitely the epitome of "Real Life Happens". Always has been.

Ed: it wouldn't be a five month break between sections. at least, I hope not. and while that would be my preference as well to get everything done and then start posting, it would mean delaying the release of everything until, well, we don't even know when. Probably a point at which we'd have lost the few loyal readers who have stuck around this long. It's a toss up between having the first half of the season starting in, say, the first quarter of 2007 and then the second half later on, or waiting until probably the third quarter to get anything at all.

My preference would be to see one series released at a time (either BG or Gargoyles) on a regular schedule (weekly or fortnightly) with breaks between blocks of no more than a couple of months, ending on some definite point of conclusion/climax. TGS needs the momentum to re-establish an audience, and personally I know if you drop 5 months in the middle I'll just forget it all because my memory's like that. I worked on 'Gargoyles 4' breakdowns but I can hardly remember a thing about it even though I had it all in my head at some point. So please don't start until you're ready to finish.
It would also be nice if at all possible to see shorter instalments (this may mean more multi-parters which might help ease your schedule I guess). As a reader, I've always tended to enjoy more concise TGS stories just because they're easier to make time for and less hassle to keep up with on a regular basis. It's one of the reasons I still haven't got back into "Hungry Shadows" -- I can't remember the first part well enough now, the first part alone is vast, and it's just become one on the (enormous) list of things I want to get around to reading one of these days.
Anyway, whatever you do, best of luck! :)

I hadn't known that about season 1. I could have guessed it from the release dates, but I wouldn't have known if they were planned breaks or unexpected delays.
The current thought - which we've just opened up to discussion on the staff list as well as here - is to do Gargs 4 as two releases of 12 and then 10 stories, and Bad Guys season 1 as three releases, probably 8-6-6. And possibly alternating the blocks between BG 1 and Gar 4. It might confuse the readers a litte, but it would allow us to release more stories at once (twenty weeks worth to start with), with the hope that the next block would be finished while the current one was being released. There'd probably be a month or so hiatus after the first block of Garg stories, depending on when they were released and how far the next block of stories was. It would be nice- although I'm not holding my breath - to get the first two blocks (8 bg 12 garg) out before this year's Gathering, and then take a break from posting between late June and early July.
Anyone else out there, staff or not, who'd care to weigh in? This is a relevant discussion to anyone who is interested in reading more TGS, and you have an opportunity to speak up and let us know how you want us to handle this. Even if it is only to say, "whatever you decide is fine with me."

Hmm, how many stories are planned for the season? When I left, there were about 20 (give or take), and I know you and the rest have since revamped a lot.
So, if, say, you have twenty. Four blocks of five stories, or five blocks of four stories could be the way to go.
When season one was being posted, stories went out in blocks... mostly because stories were often written and handed in late. "Perchance to Dream" was posted late, because the original author went AWOL, we never heard from her again, and it had to be written from scratch by someone else.

Greg: all remaining readers' opinions count in this, and that is the way my mind is thinking. We have some stories ready to go, but we don't want to release them in a trickle; we need to focus on getting the stories in between the finished ones written so we can release them in blocks. Have something to keep people coming back to the site week after week for several months straight.

LYNATI> I'm sure my opinion doesn't mean much of anything on this subject, but, releasing it in parts sounds like a good idea. If you have any stories ready to go, could drive up interest, get people excited.
Also, in my experience, when recruitment drives are done, most people I think sign up just so they can get the spoilers. Very few stick around. So...no one's seen Lady Mystic around? anyone have word on what she and Fire Storm are up to?
We thought about doing another staff drive to try and pick up the writing pace, but the last couple failed, not from lack of offers for help, but because the two people we did wind up bringing on board turned out to have no familiarity with the story to date. One left to go "familiarize" himself with it over a year ago and we haven't heard from him since. The other was just became too busy with RL to even do that, as far as I know.
There has been some recent discussion between a couple of the staff members about releasing the seasons in parts, since that way we'd have something for people to read while we're working on the back half of the seasons. Maybe its something we should poll on.

Well, the mirror site started out as my private collection of TGS stories, with unified layout and unMicrosoftified HTML (special characters that shouldn't be there, and such).
Somewhen later, I simply asked the TGS crew if it would be okay with them to HAVE such a mirror-site publically available. I received a 'yes'. Thus, the site went 'public' (it already was online for those who knew where to find it). Now, if something should happen to the Servercave network (and thus to about ALL major Gargoyles sites - S8, GFW, GFA, Avalon, MGC, AMGC, TGS, ....), we have at least a backup of those stories.
Unlike the link on some of the TGS pages, this is NOT a 'text only' mirror - never was. But all stories now are clean HTML (not Microsoft Word HTML), and most of them are cnverted to new, crisp XHTML already, plus got a 'navigation' that allows a reader to directly go to the next or previous story. And yes, Google knows about my mirror page - the stats don't lie :) Guandalug la'Fay - [guandalug at gargoyles-fans dot org] It has been said that the world is a strange place. This is not true. Or that as soon as she regenerated from the fight with Fiona she didn't simply summon up a fire and burn them up until the Chief of the bone eaters let her go? That it is left up to the individual reader's imagination is sort of the point. I believe the current intent is to never clarify just what she went through for that reason, although I do believe we (will) later reference how she got away from them.

I too think it would be pretty ridiculous to have a miraculous healing take place, which is what I felt was implied at the end of the last chapter of "Hungry Shadows." But by the same token, 1,000 years is a very long time. I think it unlikely that in all that time, both Demona and Macbeth have made it through without getting a scratch. Of course, Demona also has a tendency to take wing when things start to get hairy. So who can say?

According to Greg, she did not go splat, she managed to "right herself" and glide away. Which, sounds reasonable to me.
I will admit, I think Wolverine's healing factor has grown beyond ridiculous... I hate to acknowledge 90% of what went on in the 90s, but Magneto tearing the adamantium out of Logan, and Jean having to hold him together with her mind, was reasonable... because he would have died. And yet, not too long ago, Nitro is able to incinerate Logan down to his adamantium skeleton... and he recovers! Now, I love the current "Civil War" story, but that was beyond ridiculous.
I think fate and destiny playing a part in what's going on with Demona Macbeth is interesting. The Sisters are the Fates, the Norns. I like that sort of thing. I find it more fascinating than... Demona and Macbeth growing new heads, or the heads miraculously re-attaching themselves.
As for why the Sisters would care? There are three aspects to the Sisters. Fate, Grace and Vengeance. Obviously, grace in in play there, just as much as fate.
Of course, this is all my opinion, I could be wrong ;) Greg Bishansky - [<--- George Lucas's Table Scraps] "I am The Decider!" - President George Walker Bush posted @ Thu, Nov 16, 2006 6:16:35 pm EST from 68.202.44.89
Meh, just my take on things.
The Weird Sisters quasi-being the Fates or not, such a spell as Greg describes would be, by far, the most powerful application of magic ever displayed in the gargoyles universe, bar none.
Also, I can't frankly see the Weird Sisters caring that much, to keep their eternal pawns from suffering horrible lethal damage that might take hours or perhaps even days to recover from. After all, they're only mortals, and what is a few hours or days to one of the fey?
The Weird Sisters certainly didn't stop Canmore from shoving a sword through Macbeth in City of Stone Part IV, which he recovered from inside of ten minutes.
Demona fell, unconcious and surrounded by falling rubble, off the Eyrie Building, and turned up again without a scratch in Tempation. Did the Weird Sisters contrive her up something soft to land on, and steer all the rocks away?
I'm sorry, it's Greg's show and he can, of course, set the rules however he sees fit. I just simply feel saying "Yeah, Macbeth and Demona have Wolverine's healing factor, you really can't kill them." sounds better than "A wizard did it."
Which, come to think of it, is the explanation for the other contestant for "most powerful application of magic ever displayed in the gargoyles universe," The Spell of Humility.
Funny how the S&P guidelines, not the Eye, the Gate, and the Grimorum are really the ultimate talismans of magic power, isn't it? ;p

I dunno, I always considered Greg's answer to be a bit of a cop-out on that subject.
The idea that the Weird Sisters are that powerful, and can create a spell that passively influences events to keep Macbeth and Demona from taking horrible amounts of damage just seems massively contrived to me.

Paraphrasing "Ask Greg", the answer is that no one knows, because those things have never happened. part of that, apparently, is destiny at work. We don't know what the limits of the spell are, because part of the spell is that the limits aren't pushed. Personally, I think that's a pretty slick answer, and much more satisfying than trying to reason out hypotheticals in detail.
As for how Demona escaped in the end... well, let's say for now that she cut a deal with a sympathetic ear...

WARNING: "HUNGRY SHADOWS" SPOILERS
Honestly, I felt that the story seemed to be dragging on for quite a bit. But I felt that the finale more than made up for it. This was secretly what I'd been waiting for the entire story: the showdown between Demona and the Hunter.
One very nice touch was Demona underestimating Canmore females. It would stand to reason that she's encountered predominantly male Hunters down through the centuries. Methinks Fiona's great-nephew should have paid closer attention to the lessons of his elders.
I also liked the whole religious aspect. It would stand to reason that some of the Hunters throughout the centuries might consider their duty to be sacred on another level. They do call everyone's favorite immortal the Demon, after all.
One thing I did have a few issues with was the ending. I was actually discussing this with someone the other night: what are the specific parameters of the spell Demona is under? I mean, yes, being eaten alive wouldn't kill her, but would the magic of the Sisters completely restore her from such a thing? I guess that's open to debate. My own thoughts are: she gets an arm or her head cut off, well... eventually it would heal, but she'd need to find someone willing to sew it back on first. Getting feasted on by a bunch of half-human underdwellers, that would be a bit trickier to walk away completely intact from.
But overall, I was pleased with how it wrapped up. Sadly, it was almost two years ago that I read the first part, so the details of the Eye are fuzzy, but it was good to see Demona finally take center stage. And use it for blasphemy.
END SPOILERS.
As for favorite quotes, can't think of too many right now. One of my favorite moments in the ficverse was that Madoc's final act on the mortal plane was to spit in his twin brother's face. Dezi, Yggdrasil: Thank you.
I'm just a bit nervous about the delays in posting and our evaporating audience; it's nice to be reminded there are people out there who are still interested in reading the project. And who after reading a story declare it to have been worthwhile. : )
And thank you Spen and Harvester for reminding me that a week is too short a time to wait before fretting over disinterest; after all, there are people who have put up stories more than a month ago who I still ought to go back and comment on. I hope you enjoy the story when you get to it.
Adam: Delays are never fun, but I've waited ten years to see Weisman's continuation. I'm not going to complain about couple extra months, like the story just hit an expiration date and now is no longer worth it. I'm hoping they've been using this time to improve the art and editing so we don't have the same mistakes as in issue #1.
Also, they aren't delaying the comic deliberately to piss us off; they want it out asap so they can make money of off it. I'd wager that SLG is just as irked by the setbacks us we are, if not more so. To us its a story; to them its part of their company's liveliehood.

Greetings:
Lynati: Just because we're slow, don’t think that we don't think that you're doing a great job. I finally finished the latest episode, and all I can say is well done. You, Lain, Gunjack and Aaron, did a really good job in crafting this series. I though from the beginning that having Demona as a central character was a nice touch. I thought that you captured the emotion in her predicament very well, so well in fact that we, as readers, are rooting for the hunter.
Good job, all the best.
On another note, Saskatoon is bloody well freezing!

Lynati: <proud> as you should be. I liked Hungry Shadows.
To me, I don't see it as a Demona-only kind of story. There was probably a lot that happened between 994 AD and when the gargs woke up (and afterward). So ok, they were dreaming gargie dreams for most of it, but Demona was out there doing her thing, so I see Hungry Shadows as an installment of what happened then. Hunter's Moon told the story of Demona and the Hunters but just kinda touched on what had happened over the last 1000 years. This was a spot light on her interaction with one of the Hunters.
It was also interesting to me, that I ended up rooting for the Hunter. I had imagined that, since I was more exposed to Demona than the other Hunters that I would probably end up rooting for her, especially since the Hunters seem to be responsible for most of the garg destruction over the last 1000 years (even though it WAS Demona that caused the Hunter, blah blah blah). But I really really wasn't gonna root for the bone eaters, those guys just creeped me out horribly. Especially how it was formatted when they spoke, like voices coming out of shadows a mob of them that you weren't sure where that sound was coming from, who said that? kind of feeling. Brouchard and Fiona were fleshed out well and added another layer to the garg history. In a way, like Dom Dracon and Mace Malone. They really had nothing to do with the gargs themselves (aside from the Illuminati angle) but just added a sense of spanning time to the story. These were guys that seemed big like, what, 60 years earlier? and here they still factored in in 1996. I would like to see more of the adventures of Fiona and Phillip, or at least to see what ever happened to them. Did this one instance in Demona's past turn out to be key to something in the present (besides the fact that it was a Canmore/Hunter)? You know, like what effect did it have.
The story was written great, in my opinion. It was a little difficult to get into because it was a new thing. It was set up properly so that even tho it was new, once I got in (about five paragraphs in, I believe) I was in. But since it was new, I think the fact that it was so long between eps made it hard to hold on to. I know you guys have busy lives, I'm not faulting, just pointing out. Timedancer, Dark Ages, Main Gargs, have a history. It's easier to pick up where we left off. But I started to get fuzzy on the beginnings of Hungry Shadows, because it didnt have all that history to already make a larger mark in my mind. I know that when the new season finally get up here, I'm gonna have to go back and re-read some parts of the older seasons to refresh my memory. But sometimes the last thing you want to do when you get all excited for something new is stop and think, oh yeah, first I gotta go back and read some stuff I've already read before I get to new stuff. So then I sit there and hope I remember. If the story is written well enough (as this one was) I won't feel lost, or my memory will be jarred enough on the important stuff to "get" this one.
I'm looking forward to the Bad Guys. It's all part of the big picture, the big garg world and TGS's interpretation of it. Bad Guys was part of the master plan, right? Even though it seemed a little lower on the list (Timedancer NEEDED to occur so we knew were Sata and co, came from in mainline gargs) as long as it makes sense in the larger garg world, I don't care which one comes first, season wise. And the Untold Tales are just that. Untold stories to fill in the blanks and round out the rest of the world, the parts where we just kinda imagine what had happened to whoever.
So yeah, at least one person cares. I don't know if that's good enough for you guys or not, but I still appreciate a good story when its put in front of me. Thanks. (Keep'em coming!)
Beyond that I have no clue where everyone is. LOL maybe I chased them all away. Maybe they're all at gramma's house with no internet. Or it seems that alot of us are around a similar age, so maybe all as one phase, life stuff just keeps getting in the way. I'm still looking forward to the next installment of whatever ep of whatever series is posted on this site. Yay!

Dezi: ...yeah, you would, wouldn't you? I guess either people just aren't as interested in Demona-related stories as we thought, or when that one comment about "its not a whole season" was made, it was right, and people just don't care about stand-alone stories.
Possibly Demmie just wasn't enough of a representitive of the core-cast to draw interest, and it was Weisman's writing more than her presence that made everyone so interested in the Hunter Atlantis ep to begin with.
Which has me a bit worried, because it's starting to look like we'll be releasing the first season of Bad Guys before the fourth season of Gargs.
Or there's another option, which is that the story isn't as good as we thought, and people are staying quiet rather than say so. Is it that the story idea wasn't interesting enough to read in the first place, or that it wasn't interesting enough to comment on? 'Cause it's not that we haven't been putting the word out that it exists.
Ah well. We're pround of Hungry Shadows regardless. ^_^

last egg to hatch, maybe? doesn't seem a common enough occurence, and you need something in pairs or similar in order to get a similar metaphor. A lot of people, cultures, believe that bad news comes in threes, too. The phrase has darker connotations, since it is usually related to learning the downside of something that appears good on the surface. ...Maybe something that ties in more with nature?

Indeed. It is quite amusing how much people in Virginia overreact to snow. If it even smells like it's going to snow, you can count on them closing the schools.
Strange as this may sound, I lived in New England for over 20 years. The air takes on a certain scent when it looks like it's going to snow.

Oooo! Ooo! I can answer this one:
Spike: Look at the url. For each picture it's gonna be "wrong" like it will say art/art/... instead of just /art/. Delete whatever is the goofy part and it would come up. This was also the answer to the problem I kept having where I couldn't access any of the seasons. Crummy part is I can't figure out how to make them stay that way, so I don't have to "fix" them on my computer each time....anyone?

Crossovers that should never be... Hmmm, that's a tough one although I'd have to say that I wouldnt want Goliath and company traveling to OZ. The inhabitants would probably mistake them for flying monkeys and don't get me started on what Demona would do to/with the Wicked Witch.

Anything, eh? Well, I've had this thing on my leg for a couple weeks now. I thought it was a spider bite, so I ignored it. Now it's more or less spread across my entire thigh, so that the whole area is red. I put some butter on it, but that just made it worse, I think. Because now it's secreting some clear fluid that smells like fish skin. And there's urine in my blood...
Nah, I'm just kidding. But consider that a warning. Never use the word "anything" around a professional smartass without tacking on a few specifics. ( ;

Silvadel: We're not going to start releasing anything until we can keep releasing it for a worthwhile period of time. People will not be drawn back if there are not regular updates, and we simply do not have enough consecutive stories ready yet to sustain updating regularly.
A weekly topic would be a good idea, even as bad as previous attempts to introduce topics to the room have been. Does anyone in the room have anything they'd like to discuss? Anyone at all?

Hey what's up with the posting of Time Dancer's first season on fanfiction.net? Ummm I'd post a link to it here but I'm not sure its kosher to do so...(but it IS TGS...)
The author says TGS and in the story itself it says the authors of the TGS story and it seemed to be Out of Joint part 1 (didn't read it all), but when I clicked on the author link, and then to Homepage (thinking it would lead me back here) it went to a place not found....
No one announced such a project on here, and the story wasn't titled, either as a chapter title or the title of the story itself, so I wanted to post a heads up.

I thought I'd pass this along -- a friend of mine on Deviant Art, Neomae from Germany, is starting up a major Gargoyles art project. One of the categories is fanfiction and one of the suggestions is that people submit names of fanfic characters for various artists to maybe do a new take on.
Thanks!

I thought I would post this here since no one seems to post back in the s8 comment room.

In TGS - the version of the Saga posted here, at least - there isn't a clan in Korea. At least, we've never mentioned one, and there is no plan to have one exist in the present day. (I'm not sure that all of Weisman's world clan list had been revealed at the time TGS had active Timedancing going on, and even after the staff deliberately didn't make a clan in every place he mentioned once they were all revealed.)

Actually WoW is one of those things that is fun for a month -- then you hit the level cap -- see the repetative raids to get a 0.01% improvement per day of effort and quit.

Todd: as of sometime last night, the same thing seems to have happened to every page but the Index of the secure site. They all load into white screens. I checked when after I tried to upload files to it, I was given the message "this is a read-only" something, and it refused to complete the action. And I'd updated another thing early in the afternoon without a problem.
I dropped a note to the server managers, I thought they might have been doing maintenance but wasn't sure.
...However, looking *now* they all seem to be back up. Since I have no idea what time period you were looking at, can you go back to the pages you were looking at in the archive and see if they, too, are back?

And yes, Google knows about my mirror page - the stats don't lie :)

The ghouls did not skeletonize her, I'll say that much- and the weird trio did not directly intervene. Assuming they did try to snack on her, who is to say they'd even like the taste of gargie blood? Or that as soon as she regenerated from the fight with Fiona she didn't simply summon up a fire and burn them up until the Chief of the bone eaters let her go? That it is left up to the individual reader's imagination is sort of the point. I believe the current intent is to never clarify just what she went through for that reason, although I do believe we (will) later reference how she got away from them.

Aaron: Bishansky beat me to the punch. Concerning Demona in "Awakening, Part Five," I actually jumped to the same conclusion once myself.

Of course, this is all my opinion, I could be wrong ;)

Personally, I prefer the T-1000 interpretation, i.e., if you blow them up, they simply reconstitute themselves with a giant wet slurpy noise, and then kick your butt for attacking them.

<< I was actually discussing this with someone the other night: what are the specific parameters of the spell Demona is under?>> ...We kicked this around a bit way back, when I was planning the Cathedral fight. What happens if Demona gets ground to paste? Or she gets shattered during the day? How would she come back from that?

As far as quotes are concerned, the only one leaping to mind right now comes from the Pendragon story "Preservation."
Dictynna (speaking to Griff): "We believe you to be innocent. After all, you are a gargoyle, and none of your kind would ever stoop to such an act of theft." The moral of the story is, don't isolate yourself in the Himalayas too much. ( ;

P.S. I hope the move is all sorted out.

And me, I'm writing my own shit. And trying to finish editing it so it will be ready by December 1st. Much as I value Taina's opinion, I really think I'll need to drop this whole "alternate ending" idea. I like it fine the way it is.

Yes and everyone at JoAnn's is trying to be Jedi or Wizard of Oz characters. Some of the costumes are going to be way to cute, such as the lady who is going as the wicked witch, her husband as one of the witch's guards and her baby as one of the flying monkey's.
