HARVESTER - Thanks for the feedback on "Doomed".
One minor note about Sekhmet in it, in relation to the rest of the season. I had the idea of, in keeping with the Grail Quest element, finding ways of having the antagonists in this season of "Pendragon" reflect the Seven Deadly Sins. Sekhmet's was Sloth - based on the notion that, in the Middle Ages, "Sloth" didn't mean so much laziness as apathy, or a combination of apathy and despair. (As to the others, Lucius was linked to Pride, Morgana to Wrath, and Darien Montrose to Avarice; the characters linked to Envy, Gluttony, and Lust come along later in the season.)
Glad that you liked Mary's defiance of Sekhmet; I thought that it was a lot of fun to write as well.

I just finished reading "Doomed." Honestly, I think that this story was at a bit of a disadvantage, immediately following "Fata Morgana." But there were a few things I enjoyed about it, most of them details that related to earlier stories.
I enjoyed the little revelation about Sekhmet that we got at the end of "History's Forgotten." Perhaps that's why I found her whining to be a little unappealing here. But maybe that was the idea, because one of the best moments of the story was the confrontation between her and Mary. I'm finding myself liking Mary's character more and more as the season progresses. I also liked Merlin's little comment to her afterwords.
And I don't know why, but Pendragon seems to be a place with a lot of Indiana Jones references. Perhaps it's due to the nature of their quest, but I am assuming that the asps were intended to be a reference to those movies. But perhaps the best thing about Arthur and Griff's trek through the pyramid was the final test before reaching the Inner Sanctum. Especially because I remember that in an earlier story, Arthur was worried about his character. He admitted that he had done some disreputable things during his reign, and was worried that this might prevent him from being worthy enough to obtain the Grail. Even though the treasure they found in the pyramid turned out to be something else, he and Griff still survived that final test. Even though we had seen Griff's character tested, we still weren't sure if Arthur was going to make it. Since he did, perhaps this means his fears are groundless.
The best part of the story, though, was the ending. I knew right away that there had to be something more to that book, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I can't help but wonder where that's going to lead to. I especially liked how it ended with a small vignette for each of the characters, those nice individual moments. Arthur's was especially poignant. I think maybe it had to do with the conversation that he'd had with Griff when they were in the cell earlier, but I couldn't help but wonder what he might have been thinking when he was in the church. I thought that was a good note to end it on.

Guandalug : Yet another GFW error. In the synopsis for "City of Stone Part 4" it says that Xanatos entered the password into the computer with 1:08 minutes left. In actuality, the timer had 00:08 displayed. The synopsis writer apperently mistook the ":" for a 1.

Finally had a chance to refresh my memory on "The Longest Day." Yes, my intent there was that the dream was shared. Though I think Maeve enjoyed it more than Demona.

A search under "macbeth real history" such as this one linked will get you all kinds of websites. The gist is though the play's version is the bunk. Macbeth has had a bad rap for a very long time.

I asked this question at Station 8 and didn't seem to get much of a nibble, so I figured I'd ask it again here. After watching "City of Stone" with the commentary on, I'd like to know a little more about the real Macbeth. Does anyone know of any literature or websites that deal with the subject?

So close, yet so far away. I can't seem to book my flight with expedia. I wonder if it has something to do with how I'm paying. I'm using my bank's mastercard, except that bank was bought out by somebody else before my card expired.

Ed : Yeah, "Consequenses" was pretty long, but "Wanderer", "Games Without Frontiers", and "Seeds of Change" beat it in lenth when it comes to single ep stories.
Todd : Re-read the scene in the Broken. It seems to imply that Maeve was having that dream. (Or at least, one very similar.)

HARVESTER - I'm still surprised that you thought that there was anything in the story that pointed to it possibly being Maeve's dream; we must have written it poorly to have left you with that impression.

Todd: Yeah, I just read over the beginning of Part 2. I forgot about that. But it also seemed as if Maeve was having a similar dream.
Another thing about that story that I did enjoy was all the flashbacks that Demona was having as she prepared the spell, especially since up until that point, some of them were things that had just been talked about.

ANTHOLOGY CONTEST:
The Gathering of the Gargoyles is proud to present, once again, an anthology of all-new and original fan work! Following up on 2004's Phoenix Gate Anthology and 2005's Eye of Odin Anthology, we're completing the trilogy with the third infamous artifact in the set… the Grimorum Arcanorum!
For over a thousand years, this ancient tome has made its way into the hands of one villain after another and caused untold mischief with its magic. But where did it come from? Who else has thumbed its fragile pages over the centuries? What spells and secret lore are contained within its leather binding?
The time has come to answer some of those questions. And you can help! The Grimorum Arcanorum Anthology is accepting submissions of stories and artwork to appear in a limited-edition paperback book that will debut at the Tenth Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles in Los Angeles, California.
Deadlines for entries are March 31, 2006 for stories and April 15, 2006 for artwork. For complete rules and guidelines, please visit:

A NOTE FROM GREG WEISMAN:
Tough Love
I've been informed that the Season Two Volume One Gargoyles DVD has not sold as many units as the Season One Gargoyles DVD did. That's not particularly surprising, since it has a higher price point. But let's be honest, the lower sales are putting the release of Season Two Volume Two at risk.
To be clear, I'm not asking anyone to spend money they don't have and/or need for things like food, shelter, education, etc. But if
you've just been lazy and have been putting off buying the darn thing... well, pal, help us all out by ponying up sooner than later.
And ALL OF YOU -- PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO SPREAD THE WORD!!!!
It is NOT a given that Season Two Volume Two will come out!
- Greg Weisman

HARVESTER - Actually, that wasn't a dream of Maeve's; it was either a nightmare of Broadway's or of Demona's (we left it deliberately ambivalent as to whose it was).

DPH: If one were so inclined, they could scan all the stories with the PRINT PREVIEW option to check the number of pages, but I don't know how accurate that would be (if that sort of thing varies from printer to printer).
According to the scan I just did, Part 1 of "The Longest Day" is 80 pages, and Part 2 is 48. I just remember that as being a story that I had a couple issues with. I've said many times that I've never liked the staff choosing not to go with the idea that stone sleep cures everything but fractures and amputations (I won't start in about Thailog, because a lot of people here know how I feel about that). And despite the groundwork that had been laid, I still had a hard time visualizing Demona aborting a spell for the sake of one human. But hey. There were a lot of stories in the second season. Some are bound to be stronger than others. I did enjoy the little shocker that Part 1 ended with, though. Kinda reminded me of "Future Tense": the shock of watching everybody die diverted attention from the fact that it was just a dream Maeve was having.

Pfhor, in the name of having to be at the Longworth House Office Building on Capitol Hill by 6:30. Apparently, our politicians like to get drunk really early. But I swear I'm just there to help American AV set up a projector system and speakers for them. And a wireless mic. What they need this for, I have no idea. But given recent incidents in politics, people are free to make their own jokes.

DPH: The current 'Untold Tales' story is pretty long too... 'Consequences' was very long for a single. A couple of DAs were long too. As far as I remember, "The Sun and the Serpent" is the only 4-parter. Lots of 3-parters and 2-parters though. But not all of the 2-parters are marked in 2 parts; some are titled separately.

Since this seems to be starting off as a slow week, I'd like to share a memory of what happenned when I was reading a certain story for the 1st time.
When I was reading "The Longest Day" part 1, I could have swore the title was "The Longest Story". To date and best of my knowledge, that story is the longest story ever released by tgs. Or am I wrong?
Also, does anybody (not current tgs staff) have a count of the number of multi-part stories tgs has released over the years? How many 2 part stories? 3 part stories? 4 part stories?
