BEWARE: POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Murazor: If I had to guess (and this is simply because I'm deep into the fourth season of Pendragon), I'd have to say that the goblet might be the Holy Grail. But I don't know what it would have to do with the Seer's Stone.
I would have to say that the physical details in this installment were quite good, better than they had been before. They did a much better job of keeping the reader engaged. I also liked the fact that Demona's role was a bit more substantial than we had been seeing. It made it feel more like a "Gargoyles" story. And given that fact that this is not its first appearance in TGS, I'm starting to wonder just who fashioned the Praying Gargoyle, and what it was originally supposed to be used for.
And to add onto what Murazor said about the leader of these subterranean dwellers, it also makes one wonder just how many became what they are by choice, and how many of them are like Kappel: people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now just need to be set free. Of course, if Kappel is any indication, they lack the ability to acknowledge that they are, in a sense, "condemned."
And so things come to a boil. I have a feeling that even if it doesn't end badly, victory's going to carry some sort of price.

Random Gargoyles fan art. The artist for this web comic has done some fan art once before as a filler. I like his art style.

Murazor - Hoo! What a pleasent suprise to find first thing in the morning!
Glad you've enjoyed the story so much. I was a bit worried about it; I've been working on it so long that it's kinda hard to tell if it's any good or not. Reading reviews like yours is a huge encouragement.
I'm really, really proud of how the Bone Eaters came out. Lynati's the one that came up with the Eaterspeak, and it still gives me the willies to read what she comes up with.
You've got some very astute observations about tthe Visions and such, too. There's not much I can say without spoiling, but some of the answers can be found in Part 1. As for the others, well... Time, she will tell. ;) There's more I'd like to say, but I'ma not sure I should. For now, I'd just like to thank you for telling us what you thought. Feedback helps part 4 get done faster. :)

Todd> I was just honest.... that guide really is GREAT! And I'm looking forward to future additions. If you want, I can give you direct edit access, so you'll be able to do any changes online, directly in the GFW (and spare me the work of incorporating your changes. Yes, I'm lazy).

GUANDALUG - Thanks for the kind words about my Guide. Mind you, it'll probably undergo some revisions once the comic starts coming out, to incorporate the new stories in it.

Hello everyone, it has been some time since my last post here, but I couldn't resist the lure of Hungry Shadows 3 and here I am with a review of this story...
***MASSIVE HUNGRY SHADOWS 3 SPOILERS, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN PERIL***
It has been a very long time for this new installment in the Hungry Shadows saga. I shall begin my review stating that the wait has been worth every single second. Intense, amazing, dark. Although the Gargoyles Saga has had a few poor stories over the years, the average quality has been high. However, very few stories have reached this level of excellence. The authors have outdone themselves with this story.
It is interesting, although not unexpected that the ghouls are Demona's allies of convenience, instead of her followers. At this point, Demona has spent centuries lurking in the shadows, always fearing that Macbeth or the Hunters will finally find and shatter her. It stands to reason that she would find "friends" among those other creatures that avoid the light.
The ghouls themselves are extremely interesting. They have some kind of society and their leader cares for his children, a surprisingly endearing trait in an undead monster. At least the Lord of Hunger has some traces of his old personality left, including a code of honour. They are creepy, they are ugly, they are hungry, but they are not feral beasts.
Also, their origins are somewhat enigmatic. There are only a couple of instances were undead entities can be found in the Gargoyles universe. In one hand we have the ghosts of the Viking leader and the Captain that somehow were linked to the magical constructions in the caverns under Wyvern Castle. Then we have the vampires, Madoc's failed attempts to create a halfling. It is a distinct possibility that the ghouls are just another experiment botched by Oberon's geas.
As a footnote, when they started talking about rabbits, I got extremely strong Gollum vibrations. IIRC, Tolkien served in the British Army during the First World War. Is it possible that the creature appearing in the Hobbit is just a half represed memory of something seen by a soldier in the darkness of the western front?
Beyond the ghouls, there are some very interesting points in this story. The visions experimented by Philip are highly confusing. It is now obvious that there are Fey bound to the Seer's Stone, apparently another triad. They seem to have been forced into servitude, it probably was not the doing of the Seelie Court (in spite of the contempt they have for the Weird Sisters) and they seem to have predictive or prophetic abilities of some kind. All things considered, the Norns of Norse myth are among the more likely candidates.
Regarding Bouchard's confusing vision...
Hunger, the sea and a pair of men in the seashore. My bets are Madoc and Garlon's almost desperate need to return home.
A pearlescent orb cleaved with a sword. Sincerely no idea.
A blacksmith creating a hand sized gold talisman. Perhaps the Phoenix Gate.
A goblet with the Seer's Stone inside. Stone related, but if the goblet has some relevance, it eludes me.
A shield with the image of an owl. It might be a reference to the goddess Athena.
Two goddesses in a olive grove... The spear wielding one is most likely Athena. I can't identify the triad that challenges her, although the lead smell probably is telling. The same goes for the pact in the desolate island.
Another interesting points that might be answered in the conclusion is the reaction of those with ability to perceive the mystical to Demona's spell. It is possible that Harthoth is still in Paris, the Illuminati probably have a presence in Paris and Macbeth might be somewhere close by. Of course, Team Atlantis is supposed to be somewhere nearby too (hint, hint ;-))
All in all, this story has satisfied my wildest expectatives and I will eagerly await the release of the last installment.
***END OF SPOILERS***
Well, that was all folks. I obviously like it a lot and suggest those who haven't read it yet to do so at once.

HoE> *I don't know who's maintaining the "Characters" section on the fansite* That would be me, like the whole site :) But then, lots of stuff I have on there is way old, I'm just keeping it from falling apart.
*m sure Mace's status was probably unknown back when the site was put together* I guess that's the reason..... and as I honestly do NOT plan to wade through 'Ask Greg' to see if there have been changes.....
Additionally, the "Characters" - section is but for a quick overview. If you're looking for a closer description of peoples and places, I'd suggest reading the Grimorum Arcanorum, Appendix B -- Todd Jensen's great (and VERY extensive 'Guide to the Gargoyles Universe'. Todd already DID include most of what Greg said over the years. Time over time, I'm tempted to rename this guide into "The (nearly) complete Gargoyles Ecyclopedia" - he's put that much work into it, and it shows.
Speaking of work put in - I completely forgot to announce the latest additions to the GFW. Already up for quite a few days now: A new 'Top 10' list (yes, I still take additions, just send 'em my way - you can even use the contact form on the site for those), and the Synopsis for 'Gathering, Part 2', written by Harvester of Eyes.
We're down to 10 missing Summaries - 5 for Season 2, 5 for Season 3 - looks like we're getting there. Oh, and there's still "The Egg and I" which lacks a summary AND a review... said comic page is VERY empty. Wonder if I can get it filled before SLG starts to pump out new issues....

Guandulug: I don't know who's maintaining the "Characters" section on the fansite, but I did discover a slight error concerning Mace Malone. The entry says:
"However, Bluestone and Goliath managed to double-cross him and escape while Malone himself was trapped in the building. Whether the Illuminati was able (or willing) to rescue him in time is unknown."
Greg has said that the Illuminati basically abandoned Mace to his fate, so he just wandered the hotel until he died (which, given his age, probably didn't take too long). Just thought I'd point that out. I'm sure Mace's status was probably unknown back when the site was put together, though.

The story is now back up, art links are once more active, and all is right with the world. We do appologize for the inconvinience. On the bright side, an extra piece of art has been added, and the last third of the story has been un-discombobulated. It should work a little better now.

2nd!!
Spen was actually 1st.
Reason: Announcements made by tgs staff do *NOT* count towards the top 10 (as I think); hence, Gunjack's and my previous posts don't count towards the limit.
Anyways, besides the release of the story. I have something else for us to ponder. Consider Reboot, the tv series. Dvds are 10 years old and no new reissue has been announced. Currently prices are the following: volume 1 of season 3 - $39.99, volume 2 of season 3 - $85, volume 3 of season 4 - $129.00, and volume 4 of season 3 - $93.00. (I am quoting prices on Amazon) As you can see the prices are high, way high. How does that figure for us? Simple, what is going to happen to the price of the gargoyles dvds 10 years from if this is the only issuance we ever get? By buying gargoyles dvds right now, you might be sitting down on a pretty good size gold mine in the future.
