Silvadel: Keep an eye on the comic book. The real "Timedancer" is coming.

"Hey, it's that kid who reminds me of my lost youth and innocense. If I kill him I bet I can symbolically kill my own fear and vulnerability. Man, that's deep. Oh, no! It backfired! Now I'm more emo than ever, CRAP!"

I think you are under-estimating the popularity of timedancer -- it is my fav one also.

After tracking the source of the annoying singing, I threw the windows open overlooking the street in front of the comment room. Oh my! What devastation. If it moved or didn't, it was wrecked or fallout from the wreckage.

The singing was coming from what at first looked like a disreputable bum laying next to the wall. Upon closer inspection, he appeared to be the source of the mayhem in front of me.. He kept singing "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.". While the near blizzard storm was dumping fluffy white stuff upon all the carnage and beginning to hide the scene.

Behind me the rustling increased and a blur of green went in and out of the window. The singing abruptly stopped. Turning around I noticed two things, the presents under the Christmas tree were writhing as something was moved under them and the blasted mistletoe was missing again.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Starsinger
Yes the mutant mistletoe is still alive.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Greetings,

May everyone have a merry Christmas and a joyour new year (and if you don't celebrate Christmas, then at least have a joyous holiday and a happy new year).

Yggdrasil - [eng050599 at hotmail dot com]

The Christmas eve peace is shattered by the horrid singing. "Ohhh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is soo delightful. I have no place to go. Soo let it snow, let it snow let it snow."

The Christmas tree lights are glowing softly as they become lit for the first time this year. From every corner of the room things are stirring. The presents are moving slightly as something moves in and around them.

The singing becomes louder and louder as the rustlings becomes more agitated.

Starsinger

Merry Christmas all!

I made this last night. Basically, if the comic were still the TV show, what the opening theme would be like. D.Taina helped out with a really cool contribution which, in my mind, legitimizes it a little bit as a "third season" intro.

I hope you all like it.

Hey that is ok. I can understand how you guys can be busy with the real world stuff and trying to continue a great series. I just mentioned New Olympians cause I couldn't remember if that was an early idea.

Tonight.

And as far as I know, TGS never had serious plans to do New Olympians as a spinoff- at least, there was no discussion of it since I joined the staff in late 2002. There may have been talk of it in the many years TGS was active before I was around. But the furthest I saw was, when the request went out for "personalized" banners for each of the spinoffs, that one be created for "The New Olympians" on the off-chance that future staff would want to do it as a spinoff. Anyway, we certainly have enough on our plate already without adding more to it now.

Lynati - [Lynati_1 at hotmail dot com]

Hey Lynati, when can you send me the outline for timedancer so i can see if you like what i do with it. I would love to be a part of what guys are doing. Also I was wondering if you guys were ever planning to do a series involving the New Olympians. I think I read somewhere that there was a plan for a spin-off to be produced from that.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

Oh and going back to the diamond question, depending on how you interpret the use of diamonds, they practically can be used for many different things. Focussing weapons, transmitions, or if you use mystic comcepts, hold great power.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

Well your right. Fans understand of what should have happened has been affected by what the Chronicals has shown people. Though hopefully the comics will correct people. Hell they are trying to do that with the Terminator series by creating a tv show which basically tells people, hey forget that number 3 was made and concentrate on this series. This is what camron really wanted.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

I think that the Goliath Chronicles contaminated Gargoyles fandom's collective interpretation as to how things would go after "Hunter's Moon" and "The Journey". Not just in assuming that Xanatos had genuinely reformed, but also in other matters:

1. The interpretation of the Quarrymen as out-of-control thugs constantly tearing the city apart to get at the gargoyles. (In the comic book, Castaway is canny enough to order his men to leave their hammers behind when on Halloween patrol, so as to avoid any embarrassing incidents of mistaking costumed trick-or-treaters for gargoyles.)

2. The assumption that the public know that the gargoyles are intelligent beings, and not just strange animals with batlike wings.

3. The assumption that the No. 1 issue for the gargoyles after this would be the public response to them. (In the comic book, there are lots of issues to deal with, not all of which are linked to being feared and hated by the general public:

* SPOILERS HERE *

Goliath and Elisa dealing with whether it's possible to become a couple, Thailog wanting the Clones back, the Clones showing that they can think for themselves - to the point where, when Brentwood decides to join Thailog, it's because he's impressed with Thailog's cunning, instead of simply "Obey Thailog", the struggle over the Stone of Destiny, Maggie's pregnancy, Xanatos's team-up with Coldsteel, Shari becoming Thailog's new assistant, etc.

* SPOILERS END *

All the more reason to look forward to future issues of the comic book. It really trumps the Goliath Chronicles.

Todd Jensen

Louis - Thank you very much. I couldn't remember how the diamond was used, but I remember it being used. The reason I asked was that info has a tie-in with gargoyles issue #7.

**Spoilers for issue #7**
Xanatos installed the Coyote diamond inside of Coyote v5.0. I was looking for the why and it came down to 3 basic theories: the computer core, focusing the power of a laser weapon, or a tracer attached to Coyote diamond.
**end spoilers for issue #7**

dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

I have to say, especially with what's going on in #7 right now. I've felt this way for a while, but TGS really dropped the ball on Xanatos' characterization. He's TGC Xanatos there.

I re-read "Offers", where he's offered immortality and he talks about how he abandoned that quest, and even in the TGS continuity, I was never sure when... I don't know. He was emasculated and neutered. Probably one of the reasons I didn't really want to work with the character when I was on TGS, I had ideas for him, but they were always to push him back to his roots a bit, and no one seemed to want to do that.

So, with #7's release and Xanatos' actions in it, I'm feeling more than a little vindicated.

Hey, people talk about Demona in TGS all the time, let's talk about the gargoyles' other main antagonist (and yes, he still is... Greg is awesome).

Greg Bishansky

Well if you remember the episode carefully, Carmon used the diamond to mess with the what ever the detective's work for computer. That system ran on a system of laser transmition. Diamonds are known to be able to focus laser transitions better then wires, so if you could build a computer that worked on a system of laser then theoritcally you could essentially take a diamond and focus the laser system to speed up processing.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

I remember seeing an episode of Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego where she stole some coal, turned into diamond, and the detectives ended up putting the computer core to speed the computer up.

My question is can diamonds be used as part of a computer core's processor to speed things up?

It was about three weeks ok is when i finished reading timdancer. Though if needed I could read it over again. Most of it is fresh in my mind. Just a few parts in the middle aren't.

DPH - The wild boar-gargoyle (his name was Aper) was killed in the big battle near the end of Season Two, which might be why you'd forgotten him.
Todd Jensen

louis- Timedancer isn't on the board to be worked on any time soon. We've got at least two seasons - Gargs 4 and BG 1- that are slated to come out before it. But if you're serious, I'll throw you an outline and see what you can make of it. When was the last time you read Timedancer season 4?
Lynati

http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/trivia.php

As I recall, the animals that were included for London gargoyles in TGS (besides lions, unicorns, and griffons) were wild boar, badgers, deer, dogs, cats, and wolves.

* SPOILERS *

We now know that Greg Weisman also includes wild boar (well, in this case, a wild sow) and deer for the London clan's models.

* SPOILERS END *

Todd Jensen

Well I myself can't say i'm much of a great writer but with a good outline and a little research i think i can lend a helping hand in writing for Timedancer. So i'm saying if you need someone, I would like to volunteer in helping out however I can.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

One question: which animals did tgs predict for heads of the gargoyles of the London clan?
dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

The staff has been understaffed because pretty much every applicant we brought on board in a two year period bailed without contributing anything, and then we stopped doing staff drives. Fanfic itself has been on the decline for a long time now, well before just the deal to do the comic was even announced. The canon story is not going to continue TGS's story, and as I understand it, there are still people around who care about *that*.
Lynati - [Lynati_1 at hotmail dot com]

Though most of the departures from the TGS staff took place before the Gargoyles comic book came out, I wonder whether the comic might be one of the reasons why TGS is understaffed at the moment. Now that Greg Weisman's finally getting his opportunity to tell "Gargoyles" and "Bad Guys", fanfic continuations might not be in as much demand.

Spen: "So you're saying that season five of Gargoyles is going to come out before season five of Timedancer? That rather surprises me, considering how things have been done in the past. So, any news about Dark Ages?"

TD 5 was intended to come out before Gargs 5, but we simply don't have anyone left who wants to write it. (Or who wants to write for it and actually has the time and dedication to do so.) There's a whole season laid out as groundwork for people to build on, and no builders left. (Besides me, that is, and the name of this project is TGS, not "Lynati's fanfic". I have a different, muchly-neglected, site for that. : P) It's set up to cover what happens in the future until Brooklyn's family leaves, and follows them until we hit the events of Out Of Joint. There's a really big step between "knowing what happens" in a story and actually writing it. Dark Ages 3 is in pretty much the same straights, except that Aaron was mostly behind the architecture of it, not me.

Whereas, we have slightly more people left who actually want to take the time to work on the fifth season of Gargoyles. And at least the first one of Bad Guys. We don't want to hold production- such as it is- up on the projects the writers want to work on. People have little enough time as it is, and I greatly appreciate Taleweaver stepping up to help out again, as well as all of the people who have offered to guest-write for us. We could still use more help in prepping outlines to go to those writers, though.

It's nice to see people are still interested- the biggest set-back to the project has been a lack of that. Most of the original staff grew away from TGS and left. Actually, most of the replacement staff did, too.

Lynati - [Lynati_1 at hotmail dot com]

Probably not my area of expertis (sorry about spelling in my messages in the future). Her parents could try things but unless she agrees with it then I don't see a problem and ages is not a matter. I mean my wife is 4 years younger then me and there isn't a problem. I always view age as a number with only 3 ages that are really important. 13, which you are officialy a teen, 18 in which you can vote, buy cigarrets, and not have to worry about going to driving school to get a license (if your in california) and 21 in which you can drink like crazy anywhere in the usa and gamble ur life savings. The only not so important years is i believe is 25 in which most rental car places allow you to rent a car without a co-signer. (Don't ask me why?) So anyways if your brother and his girl are happy then they shouldn't worry about family and others people. They should just ignore anyone who doesn't accept them.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

DPH : "So the age difference isn't that big of a deal?" Not in my book. Then again, given that I briefly dated a woman fifteen years my senior, I'm not really in much of a position to judge. As far as I'm concerned, as long as they're both over the age of consent, it dosen't really matter exactly how many years there are between them.
Spen

Spen - < there is no real way that they can force her to do anything she doesn't want to do.> Only problem is she still lives at home and can't quite afford to move out. <Despite my belief in the absolute right of family to interfere> So the age difference isn't that big of a deal?

http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/trivia.php

Lynati : So you're saying that season five of Gargoyles is going to come out before season five of Timedancer? That rather surprises me, considering how things have been done in the past. (Doesn't really upset me, since I've always been more interested in the main cycle than
Timedancer.) So, any news about Dark Ages?

DPH : Let's see, by my reckoning she's about 25-26, right? In that case, I don't see how her family can do anything beyond refusing to accept your brother. Despite my belief in the absolute right of family to interfere, I'd say that, at that age, there is no real way that they can force her to do anything she doesn't want to do.

Spen

My brother who is 12 years older than I am is dating a woman who is 4-5 years younger than I am. Her brother is overly protective; he hasn't approved any boyfriends that she's had that were even close to her age before meeting them. My brother is getting flack from her family. They have threatened to force the woman to get a restraining order against my brother. They originally met in a clean conservative place (I don't want to go into details here). Her family hasn't even met my brother yet and aren't giving him a chance to meet them before prejudging him. My brother is upset about it. Does anybody have any thoughts?

I know I already posted but I was wondering if anyone could help me with something. I was thinking of constructing a Brooklyn costume for this years San Diego Comic Con. Can someone help me sort of figure out Brooklyn's measurements in order for me to adapt them to my own measurements and create a great costume. I have this idea of using wires and joints for the wings so I can both have them spread out and rolls back into a cape for normal walking. I think this will be awesome.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

Well I know that Out of Joint 1 and 2 is both the beginning and end of Timedancer, but you introduce a second Unseelie court, which mentions of the first Unseelie court and Brooklyn's involvement. Harth has released his master. Also when and how does Brooyln, Sata, and the children meet Nunick? (sorry if I mess that name up) Well I can understand that priority is priority and true the original Gargoyles is great. I'm following the comics released. I just a loyal fan.
louis - [louisr at yahoo dot com]

There is a fifth and last season of Timedancer planned for TGS. Right now, it just doesn't look like we'll ever get to those episodes. The 4th and 5th seasons of Gargoyles are our priority, and then Bad Guys season 1. We're holding off on anything after that, until the present work is done and released.
Lynati - [Lynati_1 at hotmail dot com]

Hey did anyone else read the thing on Yahoo news around the radio recording from space that has "alien" noises.

Courtney

Brooklyn's Timedancing will probably take place, though the earliest that will most likely happen (if it does) will be #10-#12. (We know that #7 to #9 will involve a struggle over something called the Rock; I think that the Rock will be the Stone of Destiny.)

One hint that we have about it (or a possible hint, at least) is the cameo made by Mary and Finella at Xanatos's Halloween party in #5; presumably, Greg still plans to have them brought forward in time by Brooklyn and the Phoenix Gate.

Todd Jensen

Does anyone know if Greg intends to include Brooklyn's Timedancer arc in the new comics? Or if there's going to be a Timedancer series of comics?

Courtney - Gargoyles comic issue #6 has been released but had some errors on so the issues that were not sold were . . withdrawn to be fixed. According to Diamond Comics, issue #6 is supposed to be re-released this Wednesday. As for the price difference, it's about economics. Issue #6 was the first issue at that price.

No, there is no news about the release date of Bad Guys issue #1. I'm starting to get a little concerned but at the same time relived that is not coming out next week. However, that puts two release dates left in November: the day before Thanksgiving and the last Wednesday of the month.

yeah, contact info would be useful.

Taleweaver: I'll take you up on that. And point out that when I ask what is left of the staff how things are going, "too busy to do any work on it due to RL" is the reply I've gotten back for about two years solid. It's not always the same thing, when details are given, but it seems it is always something. (And in at least one case, "RL" means "I had a kid and fanfic is no longer anywhere near the top of my priorities but I'll get to it when I can" and that reason isn't one that's going to go away over time.) And there's no point in taking a story away from a writer when there is no one else to give it to.

(This is not to say "I haven't gotten anything done" is always the answer since there has been progress now and then, scenes and pages turned in, but that seems by far to be the exception, not the rule.)

If you have the time and the inclination, come talk to us about Gargs season 4; maybe somebody else caring enough to discuss the project and give feedback will help get the creative juices flowing.

Lynati

Hey Marie, Good to hear from you. I've been feeling nostalgic in my retiring age too. Seeing these young whippersnappers making stuff on YouTube and such. Makes me want to sit them all down and tell them about the good old days in the 90's when all you had was a word processor, an email account and dream.

Lynati> I don't mean to yell out you Lynati. You just deliver the bad news, but the RL excuse is old. It covers delays of weeks or months, not years. A couple or a trio of writers could bang out 13 episodes inside of a year much less than 3 or 5. I'll even put my money where my mouth is. If you have a story that needs a writer. I'll lend a hand. It can be done.

Taleweaver - [rfootman1 at earthlink dot net]

Marie: "holding on by its fingertips" is a pretty accurate description of TGS at this state. There's a handful of people still on staff working to see it continued, but plagued by those circumstances beyond our control to the point where we can't even give a vague guess at when Gar 4 will be out.
Lynati

Really? A comic? I had no idea! *goes to search for with credit card in hand*

It's too bad the Saga and the spinoffs fell by the wayside, but they had a good run. Like I said, I'm just thrilled all the stories are still up and I can go and read all the ones I hadn't before.

Marie

Hi, Marie.

Yes, I remember you. Not sure of the status of TGS, but "Gargoyles" is back with new canon stories by Greg Weisman, in comic book form. The real third season.

Greg Bishansky

Hi.

I'm not sure there is anyone here that remembers me at all, but a very long time ago I was a *very* young, green, big-eyed Gargoyles fanfic writer by the name of Marie Treblast who did a little bit of work for the Saga and, due to circumstances beyond my control, disappeared abruptly never to be heard from again. Recently, I've been poking around seeing if anyone's still around (getting older always makes one somewhat nostalgic, doesn't it?) and am pleasantly surprised to find this project still seems to be holding on by its fingertips. I just thought I'd wave hello on the off chance that someone here might possibly remember who I am and thank you all for keeping this site running so I can finally read the stories and series I remember reading outlines for, back in the day. Cheers!

Marie - [pinstripeme at gmail dot com]

LM - thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to be out of state this weekend, so if I don't reply right away it's either due to lack of computer access, or I was squished by a cascade of boxes full of books.

Lady Mystic - Good to hear from you, but sorry to hear from you under these circumstances.

Things got more interesting today. First, a recap. My brother was working for a city water department reading meters and his helper had already quit. Now that there is nobody actually reading the water meters, all the water bills starting in December and until a new drive-by system is in place will be estimates. Today, the same city water department that fired my brother placed in an ad in the local newspaper for a new position within the water department.

Call me stupid, but aren't city governments supposed to offer new positions to people within the organization before they fire people? If that's the case, then my brother has a lawsuit on his hands.

dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

Hey all! Long time to read. ;)

I'm very sorry I've been MIA for such a long time. I've been preoccupied with other online activities, but mostly with RL obligations.

Fire Storm lost his job due to company cutbacks. His last workday was Halloween. He is technically employed through a contract house, but they have yet to be successful in finding him a new job, despite the fact that he already had a job interview before his termination. The job market and economy in Michigan is extremely poor right now. I haven't even been able to obtain basic retail jobs, which I consider to be the easiest types of positions to acquire. We've been considering looking outside Michigan for jobs and housing.

dph: I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he finds a new job soon, or at least qualifies for unemployment benefits.

Lynati: Expect an email from me within the week. I have some questions about the TGS website and member area that I've neglected for far too long.

Lady Mystic

Harvester of Eyes - My brother was the one who read the water meters. His helper quit two weeks ago. He got fired today (instead of Friday) because Monday he took a sick day (he has plenty of those) to go to the umemployment office to fill out his paperwork ahead of time. With his absence, the city is going to have to use estimates for people's water usage because there's nobody left who knows the routes good enough to read them within the alloted time. (It's a small town) In other words, every water bill after the current cycle will be completed done by estimates until the city gets the new drive by system installed which won't be done until the end of the year, maybe. It took 2.5 hours Monday to do the paperwork and he repeatedly told them that this Friday, October 2, was his last day but they sent the paperwork through the mail and it arrived at his place of work today.

I'm upset about him firing for that, especially considering the inconsistency in the policy. Before his helper quit, that guy had missed several days of the period of months in which he took time to go to court, and other personal business without being fired and the boss didn't know about it ahead of time.

My brother was fired today from his job as a city employee. He has one more week to work. I am not going to comment about some of the reprocussions until next Friday, after he gets home from collecting his paycheck. For now, I'm going to say that it effects the the entire city for now. In the past, my brother has told his boss would fight any attempts to collect unemployment from the city.

Temporal immortality> It reminds me of a phrase from Stargate during one of their quantum dimension episodes. "My frame of reference is the only one that matter."

Sure to the outside observer, Brooklyn surviving his timedances means he didn't die during them. But Brooklyn doesn't know that and in Timedancer it not like bullets went astray and arrows missed their mark because of that fact. Plus there are some things in this world worst than death.

The Yorkshire Adventure> My notes are long gone, so I'd chalk up the Plucked Duck to kathy's sense of humor. I don't mind, especially if it added to your enjoyment of the story. Kathy, Patrick, Todd and the rest who did the heavy lifting editing the stories deserve mad kudos for the work they did.

In other news, is anyone else annoyed at the portrayal of 'geeks' on TV this season. Monday night on network has become the 'geek shall inheriet the earth' night and not one of them feels authentic. Any thoughts?

Taleweaver - [rfootman1 at earthlink dot net]

It reminds me of a story about predictions...

They can be 100% ironclad true -- but if the person you are predicting about learns about the prediction and doesnt follow the same path -- it goes away... I forget the exact wording but it kind of goes against the temporal immortality thing.

This is going to bother me now that I cant remember the reference that I butchered badly above...

Coldstone learned about the existence of Gabriel and the Avalon Clan in "Reunion" as well, and was informed about them in TGS when he and Coldfire actually met Gabriel... and uncharacteristically embraced him as a biological son, which he didn't do in the comic.

Because, you know, in TGS, Gargoyles become nothing more than humans with wings. Sigh.

Greg Bishansky

DPH - I remember including, in "Preservation", a mention of Coldstone staying at the Sanctuary in the Himalayas (until Xanatos found him and carted him off to New York), so I agree with you that the missing World Tour story probably didn't happen in TGS's continuum.
Todd Jensen

Rightsider - <Brooklyn's return from the Timedance only indicates that wasn't killed during 40 years of time-travel, not that he was actually incapable of being killed.> That is the theoritical question that leads to a few others. 1)Could Brooklyn have been killed? 2)If Brooklyn knew that he was going to return home, would he deliberately put his life in danger to save others knowing that he won't die?

After leading the issue #6 of gargoyles comic, I'm fairly certain that version of Goliath & travelers meeting Coldstone didn't happen in tgs, not that it matters.

dph_of_rules

dph_of_rules>> Not Really. Brooklyn's return from the Timedance only indicates that wasn't killed during 40 years of time-travel, not that he was actually incapable of being killed.

Time travel's funny that way, to steal a phrase from Xanatos.

Rightsider

Then what would be the term that you would use to describe Brooklyn from the very moment that he starts timedancing until he gets back to his home? He can't be/wasn't killed while timedancing so for those 40 years would be the appropriate term to describe his state of being unable to be killed?

I don't know if this has been brought up in the past few months (it's been awhile since I checked the comment room). And I don't meen to be rude. But I was checking the page that talks about future series in TGS. I noticed that that page was written almost 3 years ago to the day I checked. I was wondering if you were still planning on continuing your Gargoyles fan fiction or have you decided to put in on hold while the new comics continue to come out, or have you just decided to quick all together. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I was watching episodes of Mythbusters online and ran across an episode where they tried to build a jetpack (http://www.tv.com/mythbusters/jet-pack/episode/424873/summary.html?tag=ep_list;ep_title;11) using the same principle as the Cyberbiotics Airfortresses 1 & 2 uses to get off the ground. It failed because it couldn't lift itself off the ground. That made me wonder if it really is possible to build a scaled down model of the Cyberbiotics Airfortress 1.

Rahsaan Footman did the actual writing of the story, but the "Plucked Duck" sounds like my sense of humor. No actual source other than noticing that British pubs often have very odd, and somewhat whimsical names sometimes, but not always, tied to local history or lore.

Michael Ejercito : Technically, the prophecy does not require Macbeth to kill Demona, only that one must kill the other for both to die. Anyway, seeing as how Macbeth *did* pour the poison into the glass, as long as Demona drank it, I can't see how they wouldn't have died. After all, if you were to put poison into someone's drink, they would die, correct? And since Macbeth did indeed intend to kill Demona, then by all rights she should die.

Of course, I'm not on staff, so my opinion certainly isn't fact, but it makes sense to me(Which means I'm probably dead wrong. :)

Incidentally, I agree with DPH. Unless someone has specifically stated that they are only at a certain point in their reading, spoiler tags shouldn't be used for episodes this old.

Spen

Michael Ejercito - Personally, I didn't like the way Requiem and Games Without Frontiers nail down the future so early on in tgs. I've felt that Timedancer shouldn't be used to establish history. It's as if a writer decided to write history into the future timeline by having Brooklyn visit a location where he learns facts.

Anyways, I have another question: Are spoiler tags (and giant spaces) really necessary for a story that was released 3 months short of 10 years ago to this day?

dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

I just read the story, "Requiem". It was great, as it revealed what happened to Demona and Macbeth in the far future.

SPOILER

Demona and Macbeth attempt to end their lives by drinking hemlock. However, the attempt will fail. In the story, Demona was holding the goblet, indicating that she took the goblet to her mouth to swallow the poison. But the magical link requires that MACBETH kill Demona. In order for Demona to die of poison, Macbeth has to be the one to administer it.

In my case, it's memory, and yep, I do remember things from that far back and even further. Larry Davidson commented that if Castaway was to call Elisa that to her face, he'd better make certain that she was safely restrained first. I remembered that when I read Gargoyles #1, Banquo proceeds to call Elisa that, and gets socked halfway through!)

::With bows and apologies to Don Henley::

kathy

DPH - Nicole's mention of South America (according to Kathy Pogge, who wrote that passage) was a reference to the attack on the Mayan pyramid in Guatemala. Guatemala in in Central America rather than South America; Kathy explained to me during Edits that she had Nicole say "South America" by mistake on purpose, as a dramatization of the sort of slip-ups that television reporters have often made in real life. (And given the way that she portrayed Nicole as almost a poster-child for journalistic irresponsibility, I can easily believe that she - Nicole, not Kathy - would make such a geographical boner.)
Todd Jensen

Spen - I'm going to give you a list of quotes to support my theory that Bronx has indeed visited every continent. The only two questions about Bronx is if he visited Antartica and South America.

From Re-Emergence Part 1:
Xanatos got up from his chair and approached the group. "It took my best computer technicians weeks to get through all the layers of protection, the encryptions, the multiple blocks and fail-safes. But, as you can see, the end result was well worth the trouble. A complete listing of all the locations worldwide that Madoc had his forces strike that night."

. . .

"We must search out every place on this list, familiar or otherwise, make contact with them, make certain that they are still alive and well. If they are in need of aid, than we will give it to them. But we must act. Lives could be at stake, and it is now our responsibility."

. . .

Bronx caught up with Brooklyn, Broadway, Sata, and Lex as they were walking out the door.

This establishes that every place Madoc attacked these 5 visited.

From Aftermath Part 2:
"From mysterious explosions, to the mass reports of fantasy phenomena that have gripped the entire island over the past week, it is safe to say that whatever the experts find out may be too fantastic to believe. And we are not alone. Reports of similar events have been reported from all over the world: from as far away as Japan, South America, England, and Czechoslovakia."

According to this, Madoc attacked South America.

Therefore, Bronx has been to every continent. That's all I'm willing to comment on about who all has been to every continent on the world without checking with a higher ranking tgs staffer.

spen - <Incidentally, have *any* of the gargoyles really been to every continent?> Bronx has been to *every* continent. See Walkabout and Re-Emergence Parts 1-3. Now, for a gargoyle who has been to every continent. 1st, I gave you a trick question about Goliath visiting every continent sorta. As of January 1, 1995, the date on the question, Goliath's world tour officially starts. That specific date has disqualified Goliath. Pendragon - Europe & North America. Flight from the Enchanter - South America. Someone to Watch Over Me - Australia. Doomed - Africa. Preservation - Asia. Now, who is the mysterious gargoyle that we know has been to every continent? Griff. There are 3 more potential gargoyle candidates who have been to every continent in the present, but I would have to consult with somebody before I could be sure. I'm not counting Harthoth or Demona in that group and it would be cheating to rely on Brooklyn's timetraveling to qualify him. <Actually, the only time I can remember an episode taking place in South America was in "Flight From the Enchanter".> You're forgetting about Re-Emergence and Darkest Hour. <And the guide to TGS hotspots backs me up on this.> That guy who 1st compiled all the info for the TGS Hot Spots is a really, really great guy. Murazor> How about mutations? I think there's something called homeobox genes that are responsible for limbs and body segments, and their duplication can make flies grow extra wings. Or even this: http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=2884767 . All those extra limbs must get in each other's way, but sometimes the mutation pays off. That's probably where centipedes came from :)

Lurking Echo

Thanks to those that answered my question regarding the comics. Now, to make an small contribution for the resurrection of this page, I'd like to ask your opinion about the fact that Gargoyles have six-limbs.

Despite Gargbeasts (confirmed genetic ancestors of the Gargoyles, at this point) showing no sign of having even vestigial wings, all Gargoyles (excluding Lexington, I think) have six limbs, a rather unique configuration in the animal kingdom, and I wonder if Gargoyle evolution might have been influenced by magic and/or advanced science (either by the Fae or the "Lost Race"). I'm not dead yet!

Lucky I was passing through. Yes, there is a best time of year to buy an iMac, which is right after they announce new ones. That insures the longest useful life, just like any other product.

That said, the best time to buy anything is when you need it and not a minute before.

Check out http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ to get recommendations. Looks like new iMacs are expected at WWDC early next month.

I will have a 2nd phone interview with Acxiom this Friday. Here's hope that I can find a job there.

Oh yea, I summon the spirit of Josh Wurzel in the name of buying an IMac for an organization. Is there a best time of the year to buy an imac?

Since I know that nobody cares or reads my posts, does anybody want to take the challenge of trying on the complete (all questions) version of the tgs trivia quiz? I have it ready, but I wonder if there's interest in it.

Back before we discovered that there wasn't going to be a fifth season of "TGS: Pendragon", Ed Reynolds and I were talking about having Mary cured of her werewolf condition in it. We never got far enough into our discussions to decide how that was going to be done, though.

Giving her a cure might have risked seeming like curing the Mutates or getting Owen's stone hand back to normal, but I don't think that it would have diminished her as a character that much. She had a lot of other elements by this point that we could do things with: her relationship with Merlin, her fresh estrangement with her father over Morgana's death, and the fact that she was now a squire aspiring towards knighthood. (We had planned, in particular, to make her Arthur's successor to the rule of New Camelot; there were a few hints of this in the Season Four stories, particularly in "Rome Eternal".)

Todd Jensen

Adam - <This is an odd question but this has been bothering me for a while. At the end of the Pendragon series, did Mary get cured of her human/wolf curse?> As of Carbonek part 3, Mary was still suffering from the human/wolf curse. On the other hand, if you have read Timedancer Season 4, you can determine Mary Sefton's long term fate.

Adam>> The plan was for Kylie to travel to the World Gathering to represent the Caledonian Clan. While there, she was to die, quite peaceably from old age. She had some premonition of this in "On Holiday" when she volunteered to go.
Spike

This is kind of an odd question, but in your Pendragon series, kid you ever mention what happened to Kylie of the Caledonian clan. I think in one episode it said she had died, but I don't remember which one. A little info would be great.
Adam - [carl006_1999 at yahoo dot com]

BISHANSKY - Your last post reminds me of my own thoughts on the ever-popular debate over whether Demona's scheme to wipe out humanity in "Hunter's Moon" would have resulted in her own death, since it could be classified as killing Macbeth.

I wonder if Demona might subconsciously want to die alongside all the humans, precisely so she wouldn't have to face the problem of "once all the humans are gone, whom does she blame for all the miseries in her life?" that she'd have to confront if she wiped out the human race and survived. If she dies too, then the problem (from her perspective) is automatically solved.

Todd Jensen

Demona's racism is hardly based on science or racial superiority. I somehow doubt she plans to wipe out chimps, monkeys and gorillas when she's done with human kind.

She hates humans, because she needs someone to scapegoat for her own culpability in the massacre. She won't blame herself. She refuses to. It can't be her fault, so it's the humans' fault.

Her hatred and desire for vengeance has never been about superiority, nor is it even about protecting her own kind, as much as she may tell herself that it is. It's because she won't take responsibility for her own actions.

I don't think Demmie would like apes being the dominant species over Gargoyles. She probably sees humans and monkeys as basically the same thing anyway.

- An Obituary. -

Say what one will, but no one can deny that the TGS CR was an interesting place. It was the only CR in existence where you could get yelled at for being On Topic.

It has been a very passionate CR, from those discovering true love, to burning hatreds that have developed through the course of its existence.

It was also the only place where a girl named Lisa "Kitainia" Telman existed, from her birth in 1998 to the tragic discovery of her nature as a human male's right hand, in 2001. When she died, the CR's innocence died with her.

Like many communities, the TGS CR has had it's happy moments, it's angry moments, it's sad moments, and it's downright pathetic moments.

Despite the extreme personalities and grudges that often posted, there have been those rare moments where all stood united. In the aftermath of the attacks on September 11th (very briefly) to the aforementioned revelation that one of the CR's long time posters was the right hand of another long time poster.

Many came, and many went. But, throughout it all, the TGS CR never ceased to be an interesting place.

But, I digress. The time for sorrow has passed. It's time to look ahead to a future filled with smiles, and I'll be smiling again. Just as soon as we take that CR THERE, and slap it in that box there! And roll it into that vat of acid there!

TALEWEAVER> I don't think the tieline is a very big deal. Greg Weisman has no problem writing comic stories set in 1996 right now.

And, for the fun of it. Here's my review for the third issue of the comic:

Well, that was certainly a let down. Fox getting all weepy, she was so out of character. The real Fox would kick ass and take names, till she found out where her son was. And Pat Doyle was the most pointless villain I've ever seen...

... whoops, this isn't The Goliath Chronicles

The first new canon story in eleven years, and I enjoyed every page of it. I have not been this excited for a comic book in a long time, and I read a lot of comic books.

This was clearly part one, and thus some set-up needed, and having to remind readers who the Clones and the Mutates are and where they came from. But, understandable. Very understandable. The series has not been in the public eye for a long time, and the Clones and the Mutates are not as well know as the main cast, Xanatos and Demona.

I loved Martin Hacker in this issue, playing everyone, telling everybody what they want to hear. Matt, of course, does not seem to trust him at all. Xanatos seemed benignly annoyed, but I'm guessing he should have taken Mr. Duval's phone call in #2. Castaway seemed pleasantly surprised to see him, but why wouldn't he be? They set him up with this new gig, and are telling him what he wants to hear. Personally, I think Hacker is lying to all three of them, and the Illuminati has something else planned.

Speaking of Castaway, he has a nice appearance here, behaving sane and not like a raving lunatic, as many in the fandom seem to think he behaves as 24/7. I'll blame TGC for that. Here, he was rational, and wisely giving an order for the Quarrymen to be unarmed this night. Hoods, yes. Hammers, no. It's Halloween, and it makes sense to keep the weapons at home so an overzealous Quarryman doesn't bring heat and lawsuits down by attacking a trick or treater in a gargoyle mask. I wonder, if that is the same Chaz that was one of Fang's flunkies in "Kingdom"?

Already knew Xanatos would be visiting the White House thanks to the solicitations, should be interesting to see what he's up to there, with the Illuminati.

Jason Canmore's cameo was very welcome, and I'm ruling him out as Elisa's date. Morgan actually asked her out, Jason is handcuffed to a bed and obviously bitter. Hope to see more of him. But, it seems so far that every time he enters the picture, Goliath and Elisa have problems. Which brings me to...

Goliath & Elisa - The emotional meat of the story. Their talk did not disappoint. Elisa was nothing but reasonable and realistic. This is not like dating and hoping for a future with someone of a different race and/or religion. Goliath and Elisa are different species. It would not make sense if she wasn't having second thoughts. Yeah, we know they'll end up together, but it shouldn't be easy. Good stuff, good stuff.

Poor Brooklyn, having to watch Broadway and Angela make nice, and then try to work up the nerve to ask Delilah out, only for Goliath to beat him to her. Though, the way Goliath looks, he'd probably have preferred to let Brooklyn have her.

"Thirty-six", "Thirty-two". That's gotta be a reference to something, I just know it.

Nice cliffhanger ending, with Thailog bursting into the Labyrinth, guns blazing. Makes me all the more eager to read #4... gotta wait till May.

And, Demona. Great to see her again, she's always been my favorite. Even if it's only for one page, and with no dialogue. Aw well, I'm hopeful we'll see her again very soon.

Story was very good.

The Art, well, let's just say I'm looking forward to the next three issues without David Hedgecock's pencils. Nir Paniry is drawing #4, I really, really can't wait to see what Karine Charlebois and Steph Lostimolo (The Dream Team) have in store for us with #5, and I've seen enough of Gordon Purcell's work to expect #6 to look pretty good.

Greg Guler's pencils and Steph's colors brought us another gorgeous cover.

I definitely recommend it. Of course, you expected nothing less from me.

Hello out there, Taleweaver here.

Happy April's Fool to those who observe. No pranks from me.

A thought occured to me this weekend about TGS and I thought I'd share with the room.

Considering that storywise, the main cycle is in 2000-early 2001, and most fanfictions write with a 'here and now' perspective, how do you think the temporal component of the story can be addressed?

While true, Gargoyles didn't rely on current events or 'ripped from the headlines' tactics of, say, Law and Order, but the dragon is in the details. Have you felt that disconnect in the other stories.

Aaron - [amgc_art at yahoo dot com]

ADAM> The delay between issues one and two was inexcusable, yes. THe delay between 2 and 3, not so much... but very annoying after what happened with issue 2. But, this time it was Disney's fault. The comic was finished and ready to go over a month ago, Disney just dragged their feet on the approval process.

Issue 4 is almost done, and I know issue 5 is well into production, so hopefully this won't happen again. Come October, we should have BAD GUYS, and hopefully a comic every month.

As for the delays, well, it happens often in the comic universe, especially when you're not DC or Marvel. Though, even they have their problems. Marvel's popular comic, The Ultimates is over six months late, and not expected out till June... it was supposed to be a monthly.

So, these things happen, and most comic book readers know this. It sucks, I agree. But, hopefully they have things under control.

I have a coment about the Gargoyles comics. I think with the constant delays in the publishing dates of the comics, SLG is turning off fans. I am not talking about fans like us who read fan fiction and have bought the DVDs (we have waited a decade for the return Gargoyles, we can wait a few more weeks or months). I am talking about turning off fans who kinda like Gargoyles but are unwilling to get into a comic if there is no consistancy. That is just my view, and I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

Greg Weisman writes!

THE BIG BAD GOOD NEWS...

Hey gang,

JUST got back from WONDERCON. Made a few announcements there, that I want to repeat here...

GARGOYLES: BAD GUYS

SLG will be releasing a new spin-off of Gargoyles. GARGOYLES: BAD GUYS. This will be a six issue bi-monthly limited series in black and white. I'm writing the title, with art by Karine Charlebois and tones by Stephanie Lostimolo. Covers (as always) by Greg Guler, colored (yes, colored) by Stephanie.

Gargoyles will remain a bi-monthly book (in color). (More on this in a second.) And Bad Guys will come out bi-monthly on the main title's dark months, so for a year you'll have SOME Garg Universe product coming out every month.

Now, I'm sure you have questions... So I'm going to TRY to preempt some of them here:

1. HOW CAN YOU START A SPIN-OFF WHEN YOU'RE BEHIND SCHEDULE ON THE REGULAR BOOK?

Fair question. But I personally am NOT behind schedule on the regular book. In fact, I'm way ahead of schedule. Here's where things stand.

Issue #3 is done and has been for weeks. We're simply waiting on Disney to "approve" the issue. There's no mystery or conspiracy here. There's just, I'm guessing, a guy in an office who is swamped with things to approve and isn't making the SLG properties (Gargoyles, Tron, Wonderland, Haunted Mansion) a priority.

Issue #4 is being colored and lettered and should be done within a couple of weeks. Since it doesn't need to go out for two months, that should give Disney plenty of time to approve it.

Issue #5 is being inked.

Issues #6 and #7 have both been scripted and pencilling has started on each.

Issue #1 of Bad Guys has also been scripted.

I will start on issue #8 of Gargoyles next, then #2 of Bad Guys, #9 of Gargoyles and etc.

I'll stay ahead, and hopefully so will everyone else and what that means generally is that barring something totally unforseen, we should be on schedule from here on out.

And, yes, David Hedgecock had delivery issues Gargoyles #2. But this was due to him having to split his time between a day job to pay the bills and his gig on the book. David has now taken the EXTRAORDINARY step of quitting his day job to dedicate his time to Gargoyles. Since we also have fill-in artists on issues #4-6, David is getting right to work on issue #7 and he will no longer be the cause of any delays.

On top of this, Dan Vado has stated that he has every intention of picking up the Gargoyles' license when it comes up for renewal.

I don't want to get complacent, but really this is all good news. It looks like we should be around for a while.

And I actually think that Bad Guys will help us out. We will in essence become a monthly title (at least sort of), which will get readers in the habit of picking up something Gargesque every month. That HABIT should help. At least that's the theory.

2. WHY BAD GUYS? I WANTED TIMEDANCER*! (*Feel free to substitute NEW OLYMPIANS, DARK AGES, PENDRAGON, 2198.)

The main answer is chronology. I have this timeline. And the Bad Guys story I'll be telling in this six issue mini-series is happening in late '96, early '97. This is the story that NEEDS to be told now. I hope you like it. AND I hope you'll support it. Because if this limited series does well, then GARGOYLES: PENDRAGON is next in line. And after that GARGOYLES: TIMEDANCER. (That's as far out as I've allowed myself to think up to this point.) If the limited series doesn't do well, then it'll be the last one... and I'll eventually incorporate events from Pendragon, etc. into the main Gargoyles book. But I'm hopeful that that won't be necessary. And I hope that those of you who've seen the Gargoyles reel at a Gathering can tell those who have never attended one of our great (www.gatheringofthegargoyles.com) conventions just how cool Bad Guys really is.

3. WHEN WILL GARGOYLES: BAD GUYS PREMIERE?

Karine is inking Gargoyles #5 now -- which shows what a trooper she is, since she JUST gave birth a few days ago! As soon as she's done with G#5, she'll start on BG#1. Our hope is that Bad Guys #1 can come out in the dark month between either Gargoyles #6 & #7 or -- at the latest -- between #7 and #8. We certainly plan to tease and pimp Bad Guys at the 2007 Gathering in Pigeon Forge!

So, if all goes well...

Gargoyles #3 - March
Gargoyles #4 - May
Gargoyles #5 - July
Gargoyles #6 - September
Bad Guys #1 - October
Gargoyles #7 - November
Bad Guys #2 - December
Gargoyles #8 - January, 2008
Bad Guys #3 - February, 2008
Gargoyles #9 - March, 2008
Bad Guys #4 - April, 2008
Gargoyles #10 - May, 2008
Bad Guys #5 - June, 2008
Gargoyles #11 - July, 2008
Bad Guys #6 - August, 2008
Gargoyles #12 - September, 2008
Pendragon #1 - October, 2008
etc.

Is there an element of wishful thinking here? Well... duh. But it's not unrealistic either. This is the plan. I mean to do everything in my power to stick to it, and everyone else involved feels the same way. Can't make ABSOLUTE guarantees of course. But I can promise you that I'm passionate about this project, about making it the best it can be both creatively and financially.

4. WHY BLACK AND WHITE?

This is largely an economic decision. Printing in multi-color costs WAY more than printing in B&W, and that reduces greatly SLG's profit margin and ability to put out the titles without over-extending their resources.

Creatively, however, I was completely behind the decision. Though I feel strongly that the main GARGOYLES title should be in color, I think the subject matter of Bad Guys can work terrifically in b&w. Again, if you've seen the Bad Guys reel at the Gathering, you'll have some idea of what this book can be -- even without full color. Plus we will have color covers, so you will get a sense of what our characters look like in color.

5. UH... I CAN'T THINK OF A #5 AT THE MOMENT.

BUT I'M SURE YOU GUYS WILL. The good news is that I'm getting through the ASK GREG back log at a pretty steady pace. I'm hoping to have the site open for questions shortly. And we'll definitely open it up (at least briefly) when issue #3 hits the stores.

"How many of you would change the ending of one of the cannon episodes of Gargoyles if you could? If so, what episode and why the change?"

Hmmm I guess for me I would change the ending in the last episode before the goliath cronicles. The part where elisa kisses goliath and finaly admits her feelings to him. Reason I would change it is cause I really liked watching there torchured feelings and both of them going back in forth in there heads asking eachother if it was right. Watching goliath get jealous was kind of interesting. What if that went the other way around if goliath found another female of intrist haha.

Its kind of like that sitcom where they marry the lead characters and it changes the flow of the show.

Comicbookresources did a write up on Greg's spotlight at Wondercon. And there was this announcement:

"It was also announced at the spotlight panel that a new bi-monthly series taking place within the ‘Gargoyle’ universe will be out soon entitled “The Bad Guys.” The plan will be to have some kind of Gargoyles book out each month. Soon new books based on the other pilots will be announced as the franchise expands."

I suppose it could be argued that Goliath's greatest defeat comes in the future when Elisa breaks his heart. Currently you can say his greatest defeat is when Demona turns on him, if not for Elisa he'd be dead now. Either that or his attempts to reach out to Thailog.

I'd have to say that Xanatos' first real defeat was in Cloud Fathers. since in every other episode prior he could always find a silverlining when fighting Goliath.

Remember the old Gargoyles comics!

Taleweaver: Funny, the ending to "Metamorphosis" is what drew me into the show. It was the first of the new episodes that I saw, and it left me with the sense that here was a cartoon that was willing to take chances. A rare thing for a Disney Afternoon cartoon. I still consider it to be very powerful.

Can't really think of too many endings I'd want to change, though.

As far as Xanatos's greatest victory, some might call it sentimental hogwash, but I liked that scene between him and Petros in "The Gathering, Part Two." And I really didn't have too many problems with the ending. It symbolized the end of one chapter, because the World Tour was over, and the travelers were home. And then the sun rises on another chapter, albeit a brief one. Least, that was the sense it gave me.

Change the Ending> I have two. I'd change Metamorphsis. The ending felt off with Elisa crying and no one attempting to comfort her. A close runner up would be "The Gathering Pt. 2". The resolution ending things so pat I wondered if this all took place or not.

I'll think on the Greatest Victory and Defeats.

How many of you would change the ending of one of the cannon episodes of Gargoyles if you could? If so, what episode and why the change?

In all the episodes of Gargoyles, the only ending I would change would be that of the episode in season one where Elisa was shot by Broadway. It is all right and good to say I'll never touch a gun again, but I think that Elisa showing Broadway the correct and safe way to handle a firearm would have been more effective. It would emphasis that guns are not toys and must be handled with care as well as the fact that Broadway may need to safely handle weapons in the future in order to save a life.

1st, I'll give some answers to the proposed questions I have, but qualify by just using only the original 65 episodes:

1)Xanatos's greatest victory: The Edge - Not knowing if I could match the greatest warrior alive has got to be a troubling thought. Xanatos being able to stand up to a 1 on 1 match with Goliath has got to be a good feeling.

2)Xanatos's greatest defeat: The Cage - Talon & mutates learning the truth.

3)Goliath's greatest victory: umm . . Future Tense - defeating Puck's illusion. I'd hate to image what would happen if Puck was assigned the job of investigating a crime and a criminal was trying to conceal the truth.

5)Goliath's greatest defeat: umm . . . *scratches head* . . umm . . *keeps scratching head* either the massacre at Castle Wvyrn or The Eye of the Storm . . *thinks* still not sure

On the subject of Merlin in TGS, I've one regret about a lost opportunity that we had with him. When he visited the Eyrie Building near the end of Season Two, there was never any mention made of the impact that his Scrolls had had upon Broadway and Hudson in leading them to understand the value of reading. Of course, in Hudson's case, the person who really deserves the credit there was Jeffrey Robbins, but I think that it would have been neat to have shown Broadway's response to actually meeting Merlin after the events in "A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time".

Interesting rundown, Harvester. I'll have to go back and reread some of those stories sometime. I agree with most of your list, and it's obviously nice to see "Flight" and "Carbonek" up there since I was particularly involved with those. The second part of "Carbonek" really stirs me up each time I read it, especially the point at which Morgana learns what Mary is planning and decides to put killing her on the table. I think I'd probably put "The Once and Future King" in the top 5, but then I loved the Connection arc and vaguely wish it had continued longer and gone further. Also I recall "Ripper" being a favourite of mine, so too "The Dragon's Treasure".

Hmm, looking at my last post, that looked like more of a Loki post. Should have changed the image.

Okay, this has been a long time coming: Top 5 for Pendragon. To be honest, I had trouble taking the series as a whole into account, primarily because I loved the fourth season the most: well-conceived and executed, very tight, very focused, good character arcs, served its purpose well for the most part. But anyway, in no particular order:

"The Curse of Rivencroft." The third season got off to a good start, and already we're introduced to a new character. Not only that, but we've barely gotten a chance to know her when she does something that impacts her for the rest of the series. Of course, we also have that great dynamic between Mary and Merlin, that developed as time went on. Probably one of the best of the third season.

"Choices." Very well-done character story. Especially liked how the interplay between Arthur and Lancelot, and Merlin and Demona was handled. Also liked the role reversal towards the end. Sometimes the teacher learns from the student. Also a very surprising moment between Arthur and Lancelot at the end. Not too long ago, Arthur had been doubting Duval's story. At the end of this, he actually calls him by his real name. I liked that touch, for some reason. And on an unrelated topic pertaining to another series: I'm sure Demona is still kicking herself for giving Thailog something to hang over her head like a Sword of Damocles (at least, that was the sense I got at the end of "Contingencies"). After Merlin's rejection, I've got to wonder if she's nearing the end of a very short rope, and what will happen when she does get to the end of it.

"The Goddess of Winter." This was one of those stories from the first season that I thought achieved a good balance between the history of the characters and the story. Primarily because it sets the stage for Morgana. I thought the ending was a little cliched (skeletons!), but fortunately, Morgana's character became more complicated as time went on.

"Carbonek." The fourth season wraps up with a bang! So many great moments in this one, too many to list here. Perhaps one of my favorites (and the most surprising after the Avallach shocker) is that when confronted by Mary, Morgana doesn't try to hide the truth about who she really is from Nigel. Great exchange between the three. Also, on a lighter note, was Andrew underestimating Duval with a sword. Somehow, in his research, Lancelot's reputation as a swordsman slipped past him. Ah, well. Shit happens.

"Flight From the Enchanter." Nothing in this world is black and white. Even in the symbol of yin and yang, there is still some light within darkness, and vice versa. This story was a great exploration of that theme. If a death can help others, and a person knows what they're doing and offers themself willingly, is it completely wrong? I especially liked what the scenario brought out in a lot of the characters. Also gave us a great look at how much Mary's character had matured.

A few honorable mentions: "In the Blood" (I know I had this listed under my Top Five for Gargoyles, but it is also very much a Pendragon story, in particular for the way Merlin's character develops along with Angela's: Angela starts him down the road to coming to grips with his parentage. And of course, it's probably much more interesting for Merlin, since Merlin was not conceived as an expression of love, but rather because Madoc wanted a weapon); "No Mercy" (To be honest, this one was just fun. Mordred walks his father through a nightmare, and loves every minute of it. Mordred's dialogue was just superb. It really is good to be bad); "The Once and Future King" (third season ended well, for the most part. Wasn't entirely pleased with how the Connection business wrapped up, but I did like the confrontation between Arthur and Mordred, and also our first real look at the relationship between Mary and her father); "Iris, Lily, and Rose" (for the purposes of TGS, I felt that the Illuminati was handled well enough. This was an interesting look at both its leader, and the relationship between him and some of the other members. Looks like some have a habit of jumping the gun); "The Ill-Made Knight" (another story where the balance between history and story was, overall, well-managed).

Adam - [carl006_1999 at yahoo dot com]

There are a couple stories that feature Garlon planned for the upcoming seasons, but we don't want to reveal too much about them. : \

I'd say, go nuts, and don't let what we have planned for TGS (which are subject to changes as they are developed and written anyway) block off the avenues of your own ideas.

Lynati

I'm sure others will fill in the precise details, but I know Garlon is still out in the world. He appears in the future to help Merlin's boy put together the 3rd Unseelie Court.

The Wierd Sisters are still hunting down Unseelie supporters. This leads to most of them keeping a low profile magic-wise. They can still cause mischief in their human guises. Recall that no one can tell who's who if they wear a human face.

TGS question:
What has Garlon been up to since the Unseelie War? I'm thinking of having him cause a little chaos in one of my stories.

<<You DID go to the emergency room, right? O_O>>
Nope.
Immediately after, we wrapped masking tape 'round the finger to constrict bloodflow, put a band-aid (adhesive strip?) on it, and kept the hand elevated; that stopped the bleeding, and after giving it an hour or so to firm up, I was able to go back to work.

When we got home that evening, we soaked the bandage off, wrapped more tape around the finger and a preasure bandage around my upper arm, and stuck my arm way up in the air. It took about an hour and a half for the wound to seal itself up again, and I've left it exposed since; I'm worried a dressing would tear the wound open when changed, and this way it can breathe better and hopefully heal faster.

...In retrospect we probably should have tried to stick the tip back on, but I wasn't really sure what happaned until I got back to the table and found it *still stuck to the knife*. 8( Apparently, that bit is gone for good now, and my finger's just gonna be a little slimmer from now on.

Yes, it has been about 3 weeks since I released the tgs trivia quiz page and nobody has complained about wanting new questions/sets of answers. Hopefully some people have noticed that I've used some questions more than once in the quiz and some sets of answers more than once. I will say there are significantly less than 100 total questions/sets of answers and will also say that if one doubles the current total number of answers, the result is greater than the number of questions in the backlog of Ask Greg at the moment.

Also, I'm getting ready to add some new questions. Todd, I sent you an email to get some info for some new questions.

Greg B: Trust me, I know all about that. Read my Dickens satire sometime. ( ;

But I do remember a comment from someone once (it might have been you) that the scene would not have been entirely implausible if it were viewed more as repayment for saving Angela. But then after that, heaven help Elisa if she ever ran into Demona again. Were there no other way around it, I'd have been more comfortable with something like that.

Besides, the comment was geared more towards the Bloostone itself, character violations aside, and its role as the actual instrument. Given the shape Elisa was in, I could see why it was used, but at that point, it had been used enough in the series to the point where it became an easy fix.

Harvester of Eyes
"The path you walk on has no end. Each step you take is paved with the corpses of your enemies. Their souls will haunt you forever. You shall have no peace." -Vulcan Raven.

The first TGS story was "premiered" with a reading at The Gathering 1997. Looking back now, nearly ten years after it began, it's hard to recall the exact reasoning behind every element of every story. A lot of emails flew back and forth over the mailing list during the breakdown periods. Staff came and went from the project. It was a lot of work and involved a lot of coordination, and my time with TGS prepared me well for working on Gathering con staff.

I'm still quite proud of all the stories I helped outline, write, and/or proofread. I think we did a damn good job with the people and resources we had available to us at the time. And I still believe the decision to NOT be constantly looking back over our shoulder at what Greg was revealing was a good one. I've never been a fan of series that do a lot of retcons.

I think TGS gave birth to a lot of interesting new characters, too. But on that note, I think I'm a wee bit biased. ;)

Patrick - [<-- The Gathering 2007]

GXB - < how far can you bend a character until that character breaks and becomes a completely different character? I think Demona was bent too much, nd too fast.> I would have to agree. I'm not even sure that tgs had the same basic Demona in Things Fall Apart part 1 that Gargoyles had at the end of Hunter's Moon Part 3. My big reason is Demona's time with Nostradamos. It made a good story that Nostradamos helped convince Demona to align with David Xanatos, but I believe there is a better story of how that alliance came to be out there that could have fit with what the tgs staff knew at the time.
dph_of_rules
Whatever happenned to simplicity?

Demona and the Bloodstone> I actually wonder if her saving Elisa with it was, at all, in character. Keep in mind who exactly it is that we're talking about here. Demona hates Elisa. *Hates* her. Wants to set Maza on fire and dance on her charred remains. She hates Elisa more than she ever hated any of the Hunters. Dare I say it, her hatred for Elisa outweighs her love for Angela.

Yes, it made for a powerfully dramatic scene, but... I just don't think, that under any circumstances, Demona... the poster child for absolving herself of any responsibility... would have ever done such a thing.

Yes, it is fanfic, and it was very well written fanfic, but, I wonder some times... how far can you bend a character until that character breaks and becomes a completely different character? I think Demona was bent too much, nd too fast.

I think that the one possible way that "Gargoyles" could continue past "Angels in the Night" (apart from undoing it) would be to switch to their protecting the city, with the drama focusing around the criminals that they foil and the citizens whom the criminals were targetting - more the conventional super-hero cartoon approach where the nominal protagonists are mainly important in the action plot but aren't so important to the drama plot. But it would have been too different from the original series to have worked.

Realistically, I doubt that anti-gargoyle attitudes would have been entirely banished by the rescue of the passenger train - but since "Angels in the Night" ended with Castaway being arrested (and after he endangered all the people on board the train, I doubt that he'd be out of prison any time soon) and Margot seeing the light, you'd need to create new individual gargoyle-haters to give a proper dramatic focus to it, and the new ones might feel like pale understudies to Castaway and Margot. (I think that TGS had that problem with Clifford in "Things Fall Apart" - which was why we never brought him back. Castaway had his unrealized guilt over shooting Jason to motivate him; what did Clifford have?)

Todd Jensen

Ed: Pendragon Season 4 was probably my favorite in that series. Very tight, very focused, well-executed, several common threads that all came together, aside from a few loose strings, very nicely at the end. Lots of great development on certain characters, too. In the end, that's what really grabbed me. The Gargoyles universe is a character-oriented one, and Pendragon Season 4 really summed that up.

Greg B: Wow. We were just talking about something like this not too long ago. Something I didn't mention the other night, is that I think it was cool for Demona to have an artifact like the Bloodstone, but I do remember it being used repeatedly to the point where it became almost an easy fix. She saved Elisa with it, which I liked, and I'm not trying to insult any ex-staff that might be lurking (just constructive criticism) but one can only use something so many times before it seems to become an escape hatch.

What replacement line would people suggest we use to describe TGS? Seriously, I'm asking for the purpose of taking it to Guan to change, not just as an excuse to keep the chat going.

Lynati

I'm sure a great writer "could" pick up after "Angels In the Night", but it would be a much more boring status quo.

But, yes, I have seen the people who wanted TGC to be canon, with Greg doing damage control when the comic book was announced. I balked, because, well... some people complained about the first two issues being old material... well, if Greg had to do damage control, it would take even longer than that. Not to mention would just be dull. I read a lot of comics, I don't need to see "damage control".

I will admit, I did have an idea... well, not an idea, so much as a notion, for a Lex/Madoc confrontation in season 2... in a story centered on just the two of them. But, I came up with the notion after breakdowns were closed, so I never developed a basic idea into a premise... let alone an outline.

I don't mind talking a little about it now. If this is rough, well... like I said, there was no point in developing it. But, I wanted Lexington and Madoc to play another game of chess... not literally, playing a board game, but in a sense that they're playing a game with each other... a game of manipulation, where everyone around them are their pawns. Shades of evil Future Tense Lex here. He wants revenge on Madoc.... he got mutilated by Madoc. But, like I said, never cracked the story, and it was too late in the game anyway. Madoc's own motivations for this never became clear to me, beyond the fact that he enjoyed playing games with Lex and this was for his own amusement... but, if there was a winner-take-all victory involved, well... I highly doubt Madoc has a sense of fair play to honor it.

Eh, to be honest, probably way too reminiscent of "Leader of the Pack". Yeah, the premise just falls apart. But, aw well... TGS had lots of ideas that didn't go through.

Another old controversy, Apep as another evil "fairy" instead of a dragon. Now, that one got passionate.

Greg Bishansky - [The Gargoyles Wiki]
"Let me tell you something. Nowadays, everybody's got to go to shrinks and counselors and go on Sally Jesse Raphael and talk about their problems. Whatever happened to Gary Cooper, the strong silent type? That was an American. He wasn't in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do. See what they didn't know was once they got Gary Cooper in touch with his feelings was that they wouldn't be able to shut him up and then it's dysfunction this and dysfunction that and dysfunction va fa culo!" -Tony Soprano

BISHANSKY - Yes, I certainly remember that controversy - do I ever.

As a side-note, one proposed tactic of the "Goliath Chronicles" adherents that has come to bewilder me is the idea of having the events of "Angels in the Night" be undone - that is, the gargoyles going back to being hated and feared again, and everyone somehow forgetting that Castaway attacked a passenger train. That seems to me like trying to eat your cake and still have it - wanting the "Goliath Chronicles" to be canonical, and yet for events to be reversed as if the "Goliath Chronicles" had never taken place. If they're going to be canon, I'd say, then it would make better sense to accept the results of "Angels in the Night" and continue on from there (though I wouldn't want to be the one to come up with new stories to follow it, I might add).

Todd Jensen

I think TGS was founded shortly after "Goliath Chronicles" came to an end... for a while, people were calling it "Season Four" then it became "Season 3 Take 2".

And there was a lot of controversy on the old mailing list over whether or not Goliath Chronicles should be canon or not... created a lot of heat. I'm sure Todd remembers.

I'm not sure when TGS was founded- obviously after Hunter's Moon part 3 aired- but the release of the first story was 7-19-1997.

As for the upsides and downsides of the series...well, hindsight is 20/20, it is said.

Lynati

Hmmm thats an idea. TGS should have some sort of 10 year aniversary for being the longest gargoyle project online to keep going.
Shara

I don't think Madoc and Goliath ever really seemed a natural fit as enemies. Even if Madoc had come along and made a personal enemy out of Goliath, I don't think there would have been the strong connection he had with Thailog, Demona and Xanatos because they represent specific things to Goliath's world whereas Madoc was a more general apocalyptic threat. I always thought Maddox was more interesting than Madoc ultimately became. Madoc probably would still have worked well as a major ongoing threat, though, except that by joining 'Gargoyles' and 'Pendragon' around the Madoc threat, Madoc became more essential to the set-up than Arthur or Goliath.

I like that the series attempted to capture the spirit of the original. That it sometimes went off-course in the detail was inevitable but I think it still holds up very well. I think each of the series had periods of excellence -- Season 1 for 'Gargoyles' (Season 4 looked fantastic before I quit though), 'Dark Ages' was also strong out of the gate. 'Timedancer' I never warmed to but Season 2 is probably the best season of TGS overall -- wall-to-wall gems that year, bursting with imagination and pathos and grandeur. I think 'Pendragon' really found its feet with Season 3 -- the Connection arc was genius, as was the invention of Mary. I loved that it really developed its own strong identity, not just the 'Gargoyles' series with different accents.

A tremendous tribute to the fandom all round though. Its 10th anniversary must be coming up sometime this year? When was it founded?

Ed

TODD> Or enmity between Goliath and Madoc could have been built. Goliath would have a reason to hate Madoc after what the latter did to Lexington. Madoc thought Goliath and Elisa were the ones destined to destroy him, but he still played them as targets that needed to be strategically taken out... instead of him, perhaps over time becoming obsessed with them. Fearing them. Hating them. With the irony being that they were not prophesized to destroy him at all, Demona was.

It just needed a little more "oomph" is all.

BISHANSKY - I think that you make a very good point about Madoc, which stemmed from the fact that he was designed as being Merlin's enemy more than the gargoyles' enemy. (Though I still wish that the anti-Gargoyle Castaway-style rant that he delivered while torturing Goliath in "The Darkest Hour Part Two" hadn't wound up on the cutting-room floor. It was a concept that I'd always rather liked; he spends so much time spreading anti-gargoyle lies that he winds up believing them.) He grew out of my regret that very few Arthurian writers had ever made any use of the story potential in the tales about Merlin's father being the Devil and Merlin rejecting his "false prophet" role. I think that he would have been better suited (as he was handled in TGS) as the antagonist for a series in which Merlin was the main character. Well, water under the bridge.
Todd Jensen

I agree. When I made my list of how some things deviated, I never meant it as "this is not what Greg planned and thus is a weakness". I said some of that stuff was great and some of that stuff was not so great... but all on its own merits.

The Unseelie War was good... flawed in places, but a great arc. Madoc was a good villain. The way he played Lex was masterful. I always felt bad that the two never encountered each other again in the second season... but as I recall, a few people tried to pitch outlines, but the story was never quite cracked.

Demona's characterization, in the first two seasons anyway, well, um... and I mean no disrespect to anyone, as everyone involved worked hard to write those stories, and they were well written. But, even outside of what Greg planned (which is never the measuring stick with fanfic anyway), it always felt wrong. Like she had complete personality shift.

I just don't think Demona would stop plotting against humanity just because Angela waves a finger in her face. I always felt that, if anything, Angela would be Demona's new excuse. Her new justification. Just one more fake reason she piles on to plot genocide and completely absolve herself of any responsibility and guilt she has over the Wyvern Massacre. She would certainly have never befriended Andrea Calhoun.

That, and I think it stripped "Gargoyles" of it's greatest antagonist. Madoc was a great villain, but he never came close to Demona. He lacked that personal connection to Goliath and Elisa that characters like Demona, Xanatos and even Thailog had.

"With everyone else, however, including Goliath, Elisa, Xanatos, Brooklyn, etc., he feels only a detached opposition, of the sort that a chess player feels towards the pieces of his opponent. He would destroy them if he needed to, but does so in an emotionless attitude concerned only with victory; he neither loves nor hates them."

Yes, that was his attitude, but, honestly, it doesn't make for great drama. Just my opinion though.

And yet, in spite of that, I think "Lethe" was a very fun and well written story.

And Xanatos, I always get the sense (not just in TGS, but in most fanfic) that fan authors are not quite sure what to do with him. He usually becomes the gargoyles' rich benefactor. Never mind that he's still a ruthless and Machiavellian, amoral schemer. It just felt a little too clean and simple. There should have been more tension between him and the gargoyles. He's still not above manipulating them for his own ends.

But, once again, to pick a story. I really enjoyed "To Restore Amends"... I think that was the title. Xanatos, Petros and Hudson go to Greece. I always thought that was clever, since, in many ways, Xanatos is like a modern day Odysseus.

Don't get me wrong. I am not bitching. I was proud to have been a part of TGS. I learned a lot from doing it. I didn't agree with everything that took place, but that's what happens when you work in a shared universe.

And, since it was brought up, TGS's place now that Greg is doing the comic? I always felt there was room for both. I still do. I've seen some fanfic writers out there get a little hostile to the notion of Greg returning with new stories, out of a feeling that in "invalidates" their own stories... but, at the end of the day, we need to remember that we're all playing in Greg Weisman's sand box, and there is room for all of us in there. Some authors out there have a zero tolerance policy for fanfic. Greg may not read our stuff, but he's not kicking us out of the sandbox either.

Lynati> I finally read all the stories and Im really impressed by everyones efforts to keep this going for so long.

In refrence to you stoping due to the comic coming out. I would say keep going in case something happens with the comic, (like it did in marvels case.) At least this project will be up and going. I really enjoy the stories so far.

Shara

That sort of thing is my point, really - we knew Brooklyn became Timedancer, in part because he couldn't control the gate- but we didn't know how. We knew he wound up returning 40 years later with a mate from 16th century Ishimura, two kids, and a beast pup. (and I say "we" in the broadest sense of the TGS staff, since I was nowhere around at the time the first couple seasons were created or released). The staff new that much, and had to fill in the rest. Obviously the staff was not about to drastically alter already established material to fit Greg's revelations, like changing Sata's name or making the twins no longer twins.

And despite TGS's weaknesses, I don't think how the material in relation to Greg's vision was handled was one of these. We wouldn't want to be telling the exact stories he would tell, even if we could; the stories work better with the freedom to adapt and grow on their own, for the staff of various times to be able to contribute their own ideas. You get more interested in the storytelling process when you are a part of it, and the writing is easier and better for it. And if all fanfic was the exact same story told over and over, how boring would that be?

It loops back to people asking if TGS would continue with the comic coming out; by this point TGS has its own mysteries to resolve, its own plots independant of the comic to see through, and a slew of original characters - and canon characters who have developed over the years - that we'd like to give a bit more closure for before we let it rest.

The fact that attrition, burnout, and Real Life / Other Projects taking up time and energy from the few remaining staff has slowed progress to a crawl does not mean we have given up on TGS.

Lynati

Ah, but Todd, if you'll recall, for the most part *we did* ignore Greg's revelations (except when someone who was an avid "Ask Greg" reader snuck one past the rest of the staff.)

Inclusion or not of said factoids (once revealed) led to spirited debates and the addition of "St. Greg of the Lake" (or was it "St. Greg Who Jumped in the Lake" )to Dark Ages.

A whole lot of very enthusiastic fans busted their tails to continue the series. Several of the plot and character threads were meant to spin out over many seasons.

Not unsurprisingly (in retrospect) the entire project was probably more ambitious than any of us realized. That led to attrition and burnout. Other people came on board. The vision altered. The story changed.

And it continues to be a dynamic entity as those currently responsible for the TGS legacy bring their own thoughts on plot and character dynamics into play.

So is TGS the heir to Greg Weisman's Vision? No. SLG "Gargoyles" is that canon heir. But then I don't think really we ever meant it to be in a literal sense. A tribute? Maybe. (But that sounds like a pedestal needs to be involved.) A placeholder until the real thing returned. Yeah, in my mind it always was.

But while I was a first season staffer, I wasn't an original staffer so I can't really say what the others thought.

I do know that whatever was on the masthead those of us involved tried to tell the sorts of stories that might have been acceptable to the Standards and Practices of Disney Afternoon. We tried to tell stories that were visual in their nature so that someone reading might "see" what was going on. And we tried to (in the midst of the chaos) have a good time while doing so.

Did we earn passes or failing marks? Depends I suppose on who you ask. But I will always be proud that I was part of the early years of TGS.

::Fading back to lurkdom::

kathy

I've sometimes wondered whether it might have been wiser for TGS to have simply ignored the Master Plan from the start. One of the problems that I remember we ran into (back when I was on the staff) was that we'd base a concept on a snippet that Greg Weisman had mentioned and then discover when we learned more about the snippet that it was very different from what we'd envisioned. (An obvious example is the role of the Phoenix Gate in "Timedancer"; we never guessed that the reason why Brooklyn was unable to control the Gate was because the Gate always disappeared before he could grab it, but *after* depositing him in another time period.) We might have saved ourselves a number of headaches if we'd decided to go for only the first 66 episodes that Greg made, and ignore the Master Plan revelations, including even the spin-offs. But it's obviously too late to do anything about that now.
Todd Jensen

LYNATI> Yeah, I think both TGS and Greg Weisman have things planned that the other never envisioned. I know TGS has plenty of surprises planned, and I know Greg is going to surprise us.

But, even as far back as season one, TGS deviated so far that it was no where near what Greg envisioned. Things like the extremely premature reformation of Demona. The unrealistic take-down of the Quarrymen. Sata, Graeme, Ariana and Nudnik instead of Katana, Nashville, Tachi and Fu-Dog. Madoc and the Unseelie Court. Madoc being Merlin's father instead of Oberon. A disfigured Thailog. Duval being Lancelot instead of Percival. Xanatos being Mr. Sappy Good Guy instead of an uneasy ally.

Now, some of that stuff was great, and some of that stuff was not so great, but the two universes are now so vastly different, that I think the description should change.

And my signature quote has been changed... sorry about that.

Greg Bishansky - [The Gargoyles Wiki]
"Let me tell you something. Nowadays, everybody's got to go to shrinks and counselors and go on Sally Jesse Raphael and talk about their problems. I was thinking that some while back...a little mroe to the side of that we're now doing things Greg Weisman (probably) never envisioned, even if the early material was based off his early Master Plan.

...and can you please not use that quote in this CR? I know its mostly dead here, but we still do get kids coming through and I think that falls on the wrong side of the propriety line/"no discussion of or direct links to adult material" this room has.

Lynati

I was thinking. On the front page of gargoyles-fans.org, TGS is described as:

"The fourth season of Gargoyles as envisioned by Greg Weisman and told by many talented fanfic authors."

I am thinking that maybe that description should be changed since it is not the "fourth season" as envisioned by Greg Weisman. TGS is only loosely based on his Master Plan. The parts that come close are an ant hill compared to the mountain of differences.

It just strikes me as false advertising.

*** TGS CR INFO UPDATE ***

Thank goodness; I am finally well enough (and able enough to work without interruption -- darn roommates) to start updates. Belated thanks to everyone for the well wishes. :)

SUMMARY:

* DPH's Trivia Quiz link added to sidebar navigation
* Updated CR Archive
* 4 CR Member's profiles were revised
* Updated CR Members' statistics
* Updated the calendars featuring CR Members' birthdays and anniversaries
* Revised eligibility guidelines for CR members' profiles
* Drafts are now only sent upon request for revised CR Member profiles
* Updated information on popup pages for Staff-Only CR pics
* Corrected page displaying thumbnails of CR pics

DETAILS:

CR INFORMATION: http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/cr/

Per request, the navigation sidebar now features a link to DPH's Trivia Quiz page. All pages within the CR Info section now display this link. This link is also available on the non-collapsible sidebar for the TGS beta pages.

CR ARCHIVE: http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/cr/archive/

Most importantly, the CR Archive has been updated to include the last three room wipes. Since the new room wiping "schedule" results in files that span multiple months, the layout for the 2006 section has been adjusted from monthly segments to two columns, with each column spanning multiple months.

CR MEMBERS: http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/cr/members/

Several CR Member Profiles have been revised: dph, Greg Bishansky, Harvester of Eyes, and Lady Mystic. As a result of these revised profiles, the Gatherings Attended and Members' Location statistical pages were updated accordingly.

The calendars featuring members' birthdays and anniversaries were revised to reflect the format of this current year (2007).

I also updated the Profile Guidelines and the Submission Form. Additional information was appended to the eligibility table explaining the minimum required posts for a given length of attendance in the forum. Now, a poster who has made a minimum of 1 post in 2 years AND has posted in the forum for at least 6 years can create a profile.

Given that all profile revisions went so smoothly in the past, drafts are not really necessary as I didn't really need to make any edits to members' submitted data. So, I have included a form field in the profile asking whether or not the member would like a draft sent before publication. By default, drafts will no longer be sent to members that already have a profile, UNLESS they request a draft for that revision. However, drafts are always sent to new members before their new profile is published online. I hope this will speed up the manual revision process. Please see the Profile Guidelines page for details. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

CR IMAGES: http://tgs.gargoyles-fans.org/cr/images/

The popup pages displaying data for Staff-Only CR images were updated to reflect the date the staff CR pics became available for use in the forum. (The pages had previously noted the date they were added to the "waiting list," which has become obsolete information.)

I also made a slight alteration to the CSS to correct a display error of the page featuring thumbnails of available CR images. To my knowledge, the error only occurred in certain versions of Internet Explorer. The error made every thumbnail display as one continuous string beyond the margin of the page. The thumbnails should now "wrap" along the defined width of the website. Please let me know if you encounter any additional errors.

Who is Lily Munster?
I'll save you the trip to wikipedia. Lily Munster was the mother of the oft times hilarious Munsters. It was a TV show in the final days of black and white television. The show mirrored the Adams family only the Munsters were more recognizable monsters. Herman Munster, the father resembled Frankenstein's Monster. Lily Munster, his wife was a more vamped out Frankenstein's monster's bride. Other characters included Grandpa, a cracked vampire, Eddie, the son who was a werewolf and Marilyn, the niece. She was a comely young maiden considered the odd duck of the family.

They'll probably do a Munster's marathon this weekend onf Nick at Night. If you're too young to remember the Munster, I recommend viewing an episode.

But as Starsinger mention, the actress who played Lily, Vyonne de Carlo passed away this week.

So...what you are saying is, the main page, which I hotfixed, seems to be working okay, but all of the series' indexes, which I didn't touch, are still broken. Can some of the people- any of the people- who have been having problems accessing the pages please try the links in the main index and see if they work properly now? If they do, I'll see if altering the html the way I did for it fixes the series indexes and the other pages, too.

Just checking by to see how this active this place is. It's been years since I've strolled in here. I didn't know if there was any life yet, but it seems to be doing quite well in here.

Speaking of internet servers, is anyone else with an account on Livejournal having the same problem I am? My browser keeps closing every time I try to post in it, and I get the error message that Firefox has a problem and needs to close. For some reason, I can post in other peoples', but not my own.

Cryptic: if you check out last week's comment room, you'll see we were discussing that.

...It might be worth it at this point to repost all the index pages and see if somehow that fixes things.

Cryptic> Are you using Internet Explorer 7? That could be messing things up.

Whatever happenned to simplicity?

Second! Happy new year everyone!

I'm afraid I *still* haven't read Hungry Shadows Part 4 yet. Things have been, to say the least, a bit hectic around here for the past couple of months, but I'm pretty sure I'll have some time this week to read and hopefully review the latest episode.

There, have a room wipe :)
